the relationship we see actually develop romantically on screen is not kitty with dae or minho. we went into the story already knowing dae and kitty have feelings for each other. kitty’s relationship with minho, at least in her perspective, is not at all romantic. to her, they’re more frenemies.

the relationship we actually witness throughout the show developing first as a friendship and then into a crush is actually kitty and yuri’s relationship. so it really doesn’t make sense that people are saying it “came out of nowhere”. people are just saying that because they didn’t watch xo kitty with the knowledge that kitty (the main character) would be queer like they do watching heartstopper or any “lgbt” marketed show. it also doesn’t help that people are so dead set on minho just from the trailer.

just because it wasn’t in the trailer, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense narratively. kitty’s crush on yuri is not out of nowhere.

It'd been exactly two hours, twenty seven minutes and four seconds, five seconds, six seconds…

"You know I can feel your eyes burning into my face."

Putting down your biology textbook aside for a minute before you turned to face the one who’d been looking at you as though you’d disappear at any given moment.

Minho stared at you, now narrowing his eyes as he scoffed lightly,

"I'm not staring."

You deadpanned him as you raised an eyebrow.

"Okay then, do what you called me here to do. Study."

You nonchalantly said, ignoring the slight pout forming on your boyfriend's face because today you definitely didn't need to waste any time.

"Oh come onnnn it's been almost 3 hours!"

He said in a whiny tone that even if you didn't want to, made you bite your inner cheek to prevent yourself from grinning.

You wouldn't think he would complain about not getting attention because he didn't ever have to actually. If he wanted it, he'd get it unasked, be it from your friends or you.

But lately, both Q and Dae had been busy with their own studies, hence that also meant spending less time with their other best friend.

And as for you, you weren't one to deny your oh so lovely boyfriend of attention, in fact you'd welcome him with open arms when he would suddenly hug you tightly or when he'd kiss you at any given moment.

Unfortunately for him, you'd also been busy with your own studies, having to work a bit harder since you struggled in a few subjects.

Still, you paid no mind as you continued to read over the text about chromosomal disorders even if you could see from the corner of your eye that Minho had moved closer to you.

You had both decided to study together, having done your studying alone in your dorm but on his insistence to study together, you agreed to come over to his place, currently sitting at his desk with all your necessary items laid out.

"Why do you even need to continue studying when you have the most handsome, amazing, fantastic and bloody hot guy right by your side?"

Snorting at him, you turned your gaze to look at him from the corner of your eye,

"Please, I'd never say bloody hot, that is such a…British thing to say."

"So you do admit everything else is right?"

He smugly said as he smirked at you.

"I don't have time to feed your ego, I'm busy."

Sighing, you turned away from him as you now moved your chair to have your back facing him.

If you could have been able to see his expression, you'd probably have laughed because he just puffed and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. He felt even more frustrated because frankly he was tired of studying now.

Suddenly he got an idea that he knew would make you give in to him and as much as he found your current ignorance appealing, he'd never admit that to you, he wanted your attention then and there, and with him.

Scribbling on a piece of paper, a cheesy equation he'd found on instagram while scrolling on his explore page, yet he knew you'd find it adorable.

Putting your book on your lap, you opened the note with a little suspicion, Minho's face having a small grin upon successfully diverting your attention.

Turning your chair you faced him, you bit your lower lip to prevent the grin from showing on your face.

It was Minho’s turn to now deadpan you,

“Even after I wrote such a…such a meaningful message portraying my true feelings, yet you’re still worried about studying when it’s almost been three hours already and you’re not even paying attention to me or what I want to say.”

“Babe I’m pretty sure I already saw this on Pinterest...and not to mention this is just 8th grade algebra.”

He glared at your words after his overdramatic speech to which you couldn’t help but burst out in giggles, he seemed like an angry little puppy when he glared at you like that.

“Okay okay fine, what do you want to do? I should take a study break anyways”

You asked putting aside the book, making sure to carefully place the note between the pages acting as a bookmark you’d always cherish.

With those words, it was as if a switch was flipped on his attitude and his eyes lit up as he grinned,excited to finally have your attention.

“So what I'm saying is we should…”

Laying on Minho’s bed, you’d both finished watching the final episode of a show that you binged on together, the laptop going into sleep mode since having been ditched after a while.

Minho laid down with his head in your lap, you sitting upright as you caressed his hair, something you loved to do and well who was Minho do deny his lover's affection when he admittedly loved it just as much, maybe even more.

"You know, I know I say you should be lucky to have me but honestly I got lucky having you."

He said randomly while looking at you, a gentle smile on his face and gaze shining with sincerity.

Even if it was quite a simple sentence, your heart still fluttered at the sincere tone and you too now had a small grin forming.

You hummed, now smiling at him, nodding as you pushed your fingers through his hair strands, gently patting them down as well.

"I meant it though. What I wrote in that…note." He said grinning up at you.

"Though I'm sad you didn't take me seriously at first." He slightly pouted to which you giggled at how offended his tone was.

"That's because you're an absolute idiot." You told biting your lip and just as he was about to protest, you leaned down and pecked his lips to shut him up, smiling at the way he complied so easily to you.

Moving back a bit, you whispered so tenderly as if the words should only be between you two.

"But you're still my idiot and I love you too."

Kitty doesn't have to end up with some girl to make her bi+ awakening arc valid or anything. But I do wish people didn't pretend that Kitty‘s bisexuality will obviously no longer play a major role in the show anymore now that she's gotten rid of Dae through her "harmless" crush on Yuri. (And then jump to defend why Min-ho is certainly going to be endgame—Besides, if Kitty ends up serious about Yuri, that'll imply that she emotionally cheated on perfect Dae simply to satisfy her bicuriousity. We don't want that bi slander now, do we?)

What if I told you there was a secret third option?

I think we need to all clarify that Kitty being attracted to Yuri in the first place was not an implication of bisexuals being prone to infidelity or dissatisfaction. Kitty never shopped around for new potential partners (read: girls) while she was really with Dae. It only started when Kitty was just beginning to give up on him. As she nursed her heartbreak, she developed feelings for this new person—Yuri—who just happened to be a girl. By the time Kitty and Dae were together again, Kitty had already moved on from their relationship. Her heart was no longer in it.

As they explicitly discussed in the show, it's valid to have a silly crush while you're in a steady relationship, but something that intense and serious only happens when you're open to really being with someone. I think it just makes sense that Kitty is falling in love with Yuri, and her feelings for her were not just a temporary launch pad to get rid of Dae.

Logically if (hopefully!) we get a second season, I think Kitty will end up dating Min-ho for a while (as a sort-of rebound after Dae, sort-of trying to forget her crush on Yuri) but eventually break things off. And that Yuri will find that things are not the same with Julianna anymore after such a long time apart, even though their circumstances were unfair and out of their hands (paralleling what happened between Dae and Kitty in S1).

I think that the two of them will circle back to each other, mutually. Not because it has to happen for Kitty to remain bi+ (it really, really doesn't), but simply because of the narrative satisfaction it brings to a romcom/drama like this. Their moms were best friends, they were archenemies at first. They bumped into each other the same way LJ and Peter did, long before they fell in love and became endgame. Kitty thought she knew everything about love, but in her coming-of-age she finds that herself in love with someone impossible—a woman.

And, well, no, I’m never going to assume the queerness of a canonically bi+ protagonist (regardless of how much or how little it’s addressed) exists simply for the sake of token representation or queerbaiting or whatever. Because in real life, bi people just are, you know? But boy is this show set up beautifully for Kitty x Yuri to happen as a neat ending.

I truly believe that Yuri x Kitty were thought of as endgame but I also think Netflix will just grab at anything to not make that happen and Minho's popularity will be enough to sway them to push for Kitty x Minho endgame.

So I'm going to spoil the article for you. Kitty x Yuri is ranked #1 and I am so freaking happy about that and I agree. Yes of course I am biased because I am a lesbian and want the lesbian ship to be endgame but also the reasoning the article gave makes sense. I will say that I think that the Min ho x Kitty ship and the yuri x kitty ship are on similar levels but I hate how many people have blown Yuri off by saying she is toxic when Min ho is as well.

It just really is homophobia again at its finest. Kitty currently actually really likes Yuri and feelings can't always be explained. Her and Yuri connected the first time they met. There was chemistry there before the drama started and they figured out who the other was. We get to see a beautiful growth in both of them in just the course of 1 season as they allow themselves to get to know the other better. They were beginning to build trust and a good friendship that are beautiful foundations for a lasting relationship.

We have seen the Min ho and Kitty relationship before. I would claim that it dominates media. Honestly I don't want or need to see another one. I don't want to see another representation of the boy that dislikes the girl in the beginning, treats her like crap, and then suddenly realize he loves her. I don't want to see another representation of a girl discovering the rude guy's personality is just a mask and falling for him. I would love if they became supportive friends for each other but I don't want another straight romance like that. We have so so many of those already. And don't anyone take this the wrong way. Please. I am not shitting on straight people or men. I just want queer people, especially queer women, represented and celebrated more than they have been.

I will be honest and say I just really hope the writers end up having Yuri and Kitty be endgame. It would be a beautiful, complex love story for them to end up together which more shows need to do for queer characters. It would be amazing if Kitty ended up with her and they gave us the queer representation we really fucking need. So many shows with sapphic relationships at the forefront get canceled and I really want this one to be different. Show me growth and challenges. Show me healthy resolutions and perseverance of a relationship between two young women.

We need this representation and I am manifesting, praying, hoping that they do that.

Kitty’s dad might have the same safe s*x talk as he did with Lara jean before she leaves for South Korea

That being said, Kitty will finally understand how LJ felt throughout the movies that she used to make fun of her for

Kitty and Yuri will have the same dynamic as LJ and Genevieve. She might even say to Dae “you pick her every time” as LJ did to Peter

Dae and Kitty’s first kiss will probably be a big focus throughout the series which I really like because we didn’t get that with LJ, at least not in the movies. It would be cute and realistic if it was an awkward first kiss

Q and Florian will try to have cute moments together but they keep being interrupted

Min Ho is somehow involved with Yuri in terms of keeping Kitty away from Dae

In true jenny han fashion, there will be a necklace involved

I’m really hoping Dae is endgame for Kitty but we’ll see what happens. Let me know your thoughts before the series premiere <3

Remember with Wednesday how people were hopeful for canon Wednesday x Enid but instead all we got was a basic straight couple romance... Literally most of the shows that get renewed on Netflix have love triangles based on endgame straight couples and the ones that get canceled have lesbian couples. So i don't care if you find mi ho's actor hot and want to see/read content with him, i don't care if you watched the plot with a straight based lens, Yuri and kitty as a couple deserve as much a possibility of happening as kitty and mi ho

You can legit sit down, watch the show, and write down the enemies to friends to lovers moments for these two couples and end up with a pretty similar path

I liked Yuri and Kitty but that last ending seemed like a foreshadowing for Kitty and Min Ho being a couple in the future

It definitely was an introduction to a love triangle situation next season, that's clear to me, but I don't want Kitty to end up with Min Ho as endgames

Nothing against Min Ho, he's a good character but to me it would be important to have Kitty and Yuri as endgames because we don't have many main characters with happy endings in a wlw relationship...and I also think they have more chemistry in general and Kitty was really crushing super hard on Yuri so they need to get together at some point imo
