when the sully's arrived at awa'atlu for safety, everyone was cautious because not only were they forest na'vi's, which in turn is useless in the life in the reefs, but the patriarch of that family was a sky person in their previous life. how can the metkayina clan be sure that war won't befall them?? are the sully's worth taking in?
when the olo'eyktan had accepted them and had them learn their ways, he got his children, ao'nung, y/n, and tsireya to help the omatikaya kids. ao'nung was annoyed that his dad added another chore to his evergrowing list while y/n and tsireya were excited to see new faces in their everyday lives.
y/n and tsireya helped carry some of the sully's belongings and y/n began interacting the what looks to be the oldest sully daughter.
kiri was cautious and was slightly confused as to why the child of the tsahik was so different from their mother. after all, they were criticized for having 'demon blood' because of hers and lo'ak's extra finger. y/n was just happy to see new faces and wanted to get to know them (kiri more specifically) and know what it was like to live in the forest.
upon arriving at the unoccupied mauri pod, they all set their belongings down, tsireya and y/n jumping in surprise at the louder 'thud' that came from the matriarch of the sully's. y/n can feel the annoyance and anger the mother was feeling. after all, their own mother criticized the family who was only searching for a place to seek refuge.
tsireya told them once again that training starts tomorrow and that they get a lot of rest since they had all just come from a long flight. y/n added that they would be bringing housewarming gifts (more specifically food) a little while later after they all settled in.
when jake sully thanked the two, the kids followed suit while neytiri kept her mouth shut, gazing away from the metkayinas standing in front of them.
when the two left, tsireya immediately slaps her sibling's shoulder softly when they were further from the pod as she squealed in delight. "have you seen the older na'vi girl's gaze on you?!"
y/n looks at her with eyes wide and immediately shushed their sister, face and ears flushed in a darker blue shade as their freckles glowed slightly. "you totally did!!" tsireya once more squealed in delight and excitement because she never saw her older sibling blush this much.
the older could only flatten their ears against their head as their tail swayed in a small but fast phase. they can't deny that the omatikaya had their gaze linger for a bit even if this was just their first meeting.
"isn't she just so pretty?" tsireya nudged her sibling in a playful way while doing a small dance to egg on her sibling more. y/n could only nod and mutter, "the prettiest girl i've ever seen."
they can't wait to train with the sully's tomorrow and get to know the na'vi more.
— 𝓽𝓼𝓲𝓻𝓮𝔂𝓪 —
it was months after the sully's came to the reef to seek refuge. the kids were getting better and better at learning the metkayina way and tsireya couldn't be more proud than she already was.
in the time she spent with them, she can't help but be intrigued with the second sully kid, y/n. the words tsireya could describe y/n as eager, kind, and humble. eager to learn their ways and how they lived for as long as the clan could remember. kind to all the metkayina, surprisingly including her brother despite him bullying them and their siblings. to this day, tsireya is still in awe that y/n was able to assert dominance over her brother and made him stop tormenting kiri and lo'ak. last but not the least, humble. despite being the child of the toruk makto and former olo'eyktan, they didn't use their title to get what they want. instead, they work hard for what they want and still be thankful even for the smallest thing.
maybe that's what got her to fall for the older omatikaya. it was their nature that drew her to them. and she could only hope they could feel what she felt for them.
little did she know, y/n felt the same. they could only tell the stories to their older brother, neteyam, and he could see how smitten his sibling was for the metkayina princess. he would always encourage y/n to take their shot but to their words, 'i don't want to ruin our friendship.' very cowardly, but understandable. of course, you wouldn't want to ruin that special bond that one worked hard for just for it to crumble and have the other be uncomfortable.
"you'll never know unless you try." neteyam pats y/n shoulder to encourage them. "if she doesn't see your feelings, it's fine. the great mother has someone special made for you. you just have to be patient."
but if that special someone isn't tsireya, what's the point? they wouldn't want to spend this lifetime with anyone else besides the future tsahik of the metkayina clan.
just as y/n was in deep thought, neteyam repeatedly hit their shoulder, causing them to hiss at their older brother but was then held on the head and moved to a certain direction. that direction showed tsireya walking with the younger metkayinas for their lessons.
oh eywa, what if they had kids in the future? tsireya would be the prettiest mother in pandora. but that's for future y/n to gush about.
neteyan could only laugh at the lovestruck stare his sibling was sending tsireya's way. "she's the prettiest girl i've ever seen." he hears y/n mumble to themselves. if they don't tell tsireya their feelings sooner or later, he's going to snitch to their siblings about y/n's feelings for tsireya so they can torment them into finally confessing.
for now, he will let y/n's gaze linger on tsireya. just for a little bit.

Toruk Makto's son, Neteyam Sully, is your secret lover...!
Neteyam—your dear boyfriend, has been staring at you all night.
It's another nightly celebration amongst the Na'vi, and the clan is gathered around various fires lit as family and friends tell each other stories and tales.
Neteyam was your secret boyfriend.
As the son of your infamous clan leader, he was expected to be perfect. Stay absolutely in line and make no mistakes. He had no time for distractions.
But for you, he made an exception.
And he couldn't be happier. Yes, stealing glances at you and sneaking away with your smiling face is worth it all. The thrill and happiness he feels with you will forever remain unmatched. It was like his heart was finally living. The dull thump inside now a lively drum that beats to the sound of your soul.
"Neteyam."
He pulls away from the kiss breathless, his braids tossed over his shoulder and a smile in his eyes as he looked at you. He loved it when you said his name like that—
"Hmm?"
He doesn't give you a chance to even try and respond, because he's pressing his lips all over your mouth and face as you squirm and squeal under him
"Neteyam—!"
He laughs, gently tugging you onto the green ground beneath him as you huff. He kisses your pouting lips before positioning you on his legs so you're comfortable.
"Yes. What is wrong?"
He's smiling softly even as his finger taps mindlessly against your hip, and you let out a quiet sigh—not wanting to speak the words but knowing you had to.
"It's getting late. Your family will notice you're gone." You scold lightly, gently tracing the stripes on his chest idly as he shifts under you with a rare grin that stretched over the entirety of his face
"So? They're all fine, I am not needed right now. I will explain later—"
"What? That you were busy with me?" You say, pinching your brows with a sigh as he laughs. You didn't want Neteyam to get in trouble, but he could be so stubborn sometimes.
He's quiet after a bit, and you realize he's in deep thought when he stares off into the trees, tilting his head up towards the darkening sky before he turns to you
"I... I'd just like to stay here with you for a while longer. Is that okay?"
Your heart melts at the sight of his hopeful smile.
"And you think I want to leave you?" You murmur against his lips as he grins, cradling the back of your head in the palm of his hand as he presses a soft kiss onto your forehead
"No."
You're leaning back onto his chest after a while, watching the sun's rays twinkle out of sight as the stars rise—the night comes slowly but surely, and there isn't a single other soul in the world Neteyam would watch the moon with rather than you.

HATE YOU, LOVE YOU. aonung x fem! r
[ full masterlist ]
IN WHICH... Aonung has no future mate; as a last resort, he is set to marry the eldest Sully daughter. The only problem is that their hatred for each other runs deep.
Notes: Omatikaya! Sully! Reader, somewhat enemies to lovers (I tried), swearing, age isn’t mentioned but aonung + you are like mid/late teens, no use of y/n, oldest sister (same age as aonung but kiri and tuk and maybe lo’ak are younger than you), one bed trope, arranged marriage
—
You didn't like Aonung from the start. He was rude, egotistical, and overall an entirely unpleasant person to be around.
He could say the same about you. He had always had it out for you from day one. The moment you arrived with your family, Aonung had disliked you the most out of the bunch.
He always found Kiri strange and Lo’ak and Neteyam insufferable but you were the bane of his existence. He almost despised you. The way you walked, talked, and acted released an anger inside of him that felt foreign.
He watched as you strutted around in beautifully beaded loincloths, smiling at the boys who stumbled past you with awestruck expressions. They loved you, he did not.
"Are you sure it's not just jealousy?" Roxto uttered as Aonung's ears folded back at the mere sight of you.
Aonung scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Me? Jealous of her? No way." He scrunched up his nose. "She's a stupid tree hugger." Roxto's eyes darted from Aonung to stare at you. You were sending Aonung an angry glare after accidentally overhearing him.
"A tree hugger, Aonung? At least I don't accidentally swallow sea water every five minutes." You hissed, your thin tail swishing in fury. Aonung returned your glower. "Don't forget how I can easily beat you to a pulp."
Aonung especially hated how you always picked fights. You were nothing like Kiri and Neteyam, who were calm and tried to avoid conflict for their own good. Aonung theorised Lo'ak got his fighting spirit from you. Yet, as shameful as it was to admit, Aonung also knew you could and would beat him in every brawl. Your sharp tongue and quick reflexes always managed to cut him down to size every time.
You lifted a brow as you watched Aonung flex his hands to suppress his frustration at your words.
"You talk like a big boy, but we both know how that'll end." You poke his exposed chest, ears flicking in annoyance. You tilted your head, almost daring him to make another move.
He clenched his jaw, tongue running over his teeth. He knew he should have walked off the moment you approached him, but he didn't. He was regretting it now. You had a spark in your eyes, a telltale sign of you preparing to beat him into the ground.
"Is that a threat, skxawng?" Aonung stepped closer, staring down at you.
"Yeah, you scared?" You retorted with a smirk as your tail flicked in amusement.
Aonung sneered at you. The sight of your lips curved into a smirk did something to him. His pulse quickened, and he couldn't tell if it was because you made him angry or because your pretty face was so close to his.
"As if." Aonung jeered, quickly turning around. You watched him leave, disappointed he hadn't put up a bigger fight. Arguing with Aonung and seeing his shocked face at your quick insults were the highlight of your day.
“Y/N!” You heard Kiri call out for you. You glanced over your shoulder, waving at your sister. “Father is looking for you. I think it’s urgent.” You sighed, ears flopping.
“Coming.” You slowly drawled. The warm sand shifted under your feet as you turned. You fell into step with its Kiri, feeling her curious gaze burn into you.
“What were you two arguing about this time?” Kiri questioned. She could tell by the aggravated look on your face that you had recently spoken to Aonung.
“He’s an idiot.” You muttered, baring your fangs, “I don’t know how anyone can stand him.”
Kiri hummed, her lips curving into a teasing smile. “And yet you always find a way to talk to him.” You shot her a glare in response.
You saw your father, Jake Sully, standing at the entrance of your family pod, pacing back and forth. He lifted his head, looking a little more relieved to see you.
“Father.” You greeted him, looking around curiously. Your mother, Neytiri, stood in the corner of the pod but there was no sign of your two brothers and Tuk. You tilted your head.
“Good luck.” Kiri whispered in your ear. You whipped your head to face her, eyes wide.
“What?” You whispered, panic growing in your chest. Why was Kiri wishing you luck? Had you done something to anger your parents? They had grown used to your squabbles with Aonung to the point where they looked past it.
But you had not punched him, not gotten into any impulsive fights, or caused any trouble. So what could you have possible done?
Your racing thoughts were cut short when Tonowari cleared his throat. Your gaze shifted from him to his wife, Ronal, who stood beside him with her usual calm demeanour. It was Aonung, however, who caught your attention. He stood on the sidelines, equally as confused. Your lips immediately curled into an unimpressed sneer. He mirrored your look, folding his arms over his chest.
The silent exchange of glares were your normal routine now.
Tonowari clearing his throat snapped the two of you back to reality. He shared a brief look with Jake before ushering both you and his son inside the pod. Jake, Neytiri, and Ronal all stood in front of you while Tonowari remained behind, ensuring neither you nor Aonung had the faintest idea of making a run for it.
You and Aonung stood side by side, shoulders brushing. You would have immediately stepped away if it wasn’t for Tonowari keeping you firmly in place. His hand finally slipped off your shoulder as he walked to join Jake, Neytiri, and his mate.
You watched the four of them carefully, eyes narrowed.
“Aonung.” Tonowari addressed his son first, “You have yet to find a mate.” You turned your head to suppress your snickers.
“I don’t think he ever will.” You uttered, rolling your eyes. “And I don’t think I can help with whatever… love problems he’s dealing with.”
“Hush, daughter.” Neytiri snapped, “This is no joking matter.” Your ears straightened up at her harsh tone. She rarely ever spoke to you like that.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Aonung lower his head to hide his mocking grin. Though, he received the same treatment.
“Do not smile, Aonung!” Ronal exclaimed.
You and Aonung locked eyes, wondering what you both had done to end up here. Your tail nervously swished and it took immense control to still it.
“We have been discovering this matter for weeks now. Jake Sully has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving so suddenly.” Tonowari finally spoke up again. “This decision has been carefully considered and, as a last resort, we must take it.”
Your stomach dropped as Tonowari’s gaze landed on you. It quickly flickered to Aonung, who immediately stiffened.
“Y/N.” Jake stepped forward. You tensed, feeling lightheaded all of a sudden. Your father’s expression was firm and you could tell he wasn’t exactly thrilled about the decision Tonowari was referring to. “Your mother and I have discussed it at lengths and we do not want to pressure you into such things but it must be done. For the good of both the Metkayina clan and our family, we have agreed that you two will become a mated pair.”
Your ears loudly ring as your heart almost came to a stop. You and Aonung? A mated pair? You could barely stand being in a five metre radius of each other. How could you be expected to share such proximity?
“Him?!” You exclaimed, pointing a finger at Aonung. “Could you not have chosen anybody else?!”
“Father, Mother, I cannot marry this tree hugger! She will kill me in my sleep!” Aonung shoved you away.
“You will learn to get along.” Ronal’s calm voice pierced the chaos.
“But I hate him!” You shouted, ears pinning against your head.
“And I hate her!” Aonung added, his eyes pleading for his parents to reconsider their choice.
“And that’s the way it’s meant to be!” You both screamed in unison.
Jake raised an eyebrow. “Well, based on that little in-sync thing you two have going on, you should get along just fine.”
Ronal shooed the two of you away so they could discuss private matters. You gladly left, relieved to be free of the suffocating atmosphere.
“This is all your fault.” Aonung hissed as he passed you. You loudly scoffed, reaching out a hand to tug on his tail.
“My fault? It’s your fault that you don’t have a mate! Now I have to consider a future with you of all people!” You pushed him aside, your slim tail slapping his leg to prove your point.
“Well, maybe if you didn’t fool my family into thinking you’re some kind of prissy princess then we wouldn’t be in this situation!” Aonung fired back.
“Oh, look at you. Using big words now. As if you’re any better. You treat other girls decently but when it comes to you, you look like you wanna drown me!”
You heard a quiet hiss slip past Aonung’s slips. “That’s putting it kindly. The things I’d actually do to you are much worse.”
You paused, looking over your shoulder with a disgusted face. Aonung immediately realized his mistake. “That sounded a little more sexual than I intended.” He muttered, “But you get my point!”
“I don’t speak buffoon, sorry.”
“Did you know about this?” He grasped your wrist, pulling you back. You groaned, turning so fast your braided hair almost hit you in the face.
“You think I’d be this angry if I knew? If I knew about the arrangement, I would have been long gone before they announced it to us! Now let go.” You attempted to pry your arm from out of Aonung’s grip but he didn’t falter. “I said let go, jerk!” Out of instinct, you slapped his face. Hard.
His grasp loosened and you were able to free your arm. “Weirdo.” You whispered under your breath as you stormed away. You let Aonung a fuming mess as he held a hand over his cheek. It was turning red from your harsh slap.
Aonung bared his teeth. You had slapped him. Out of everybody you could’ve have hit, you chose him. He watched your retreating figure, teeth clenched out of annoyance yet a blush still spread over his cheeks.
You made the mistake of telling Tsireya after not being able to find Kiri to confide in. Tsireya then told her Metkayina friends who shamelessly spread the gossip. After that, the word of your betrothal spread quickly. Aonung barely had time to return to his own friends before they patted him on the back and laughed.
“You tamed the wild Sully girl!” One exclaimed. Aonung deeply frowned.
“It’s not like I want her to be my mate anyway.” He grumbled. Both you and Aonung were stubborn and hard-headed, preferring to do tasks your own way instead of asking for help. Perhaps that was why the two of you always clashed; because you were too similar for your own good.
You didn’t show your face for the rest of the day. You were stuck in your family’s pod, arguing with your father and trying to change his mind. Your attempts were fruitless.
“I’m going for a walk.” You scoffed, quickly walking away. Nobody tried to stop you. Kiri called out your name but Neytiri gently hushed her.
“Let her clear her mind.” Neytiri uttered.
You wandered along the sandy shore of a nearby beach, tail lashing in fury and kicking up sand as your frustration bubbled up. You raked a hand through your long hair, the village lights getting fainter the further you walked. You picked up a rock, angrily hurling it into the cold ocean.
“Great, now you’re destroying our beaches. That was a sacred rock, you know.” Aonung’s presence behind you only made things worse.
You glared at him. “Cut the bullshit.” You kicked up a flurry of sand at him.
“I’m not joking. Maybe if you retrieve the rock, my parents will call off the deal.” Aonung watched in amusement as you actually slipped into the water, disappearing below the surface. You returned a moment later, the wet rock in your hand. Beads of water trickled down your exposed skin and your hair stuck uncomfortably to your face.
“Here.” You dropped the rock on his foot, grinning as he jumped.
“Ow! That hurt!”
“I know. It was supposed to.”
Aonung let out an exasperated sigh. He crossed his arms over his chest, his usual sign of annoyance. “You aren’t special, you know.” He muttered. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes at his words. His biting remarks meant nothing to you.
“Oh, what a shocking revelation. How did you come to such a conclusion?”
Confusion clouded Aonung’s face before he shook his head. “And you speak weirdly.”
“No. You’re just dumb.”
Aonung clicked his tongue. “I’m trying to be nice and you’re dropping rocks on me.”
“If that was you being nice, I’ll pass.”
The constant bickering reminded Aonung that no matter how hard the both of you tried, you just couldn’t see eye to eye.
There was a moment of silence. Aonung slowly shifted to stand beside you, keeping a respectable distance but close enough to see you out of the corner of his eye.
You were pretty, especially in the moonlight. The moon bathed your face in a soft glow, your freckles shining like the constellations spread out across the starry sky. Aonung’s gaze subtly travelled to the sharp curve of your jaw and the way your head was proudly tilted. Your long braids swayed in the gentle breeze.
Aonung glanced up at the dark sky, eyes trailing over the glittering stars before flickering back to your face. And yet, no star shone as brightly as the freckles dotting your cheeks.
Your beauty was infuriating. How could someone so alluring be so argumentative?
Realising he had been staring for far too long, Aonung quickly refocused on gaze on the sand below.
“You were staring.” You flatly said, ears tilting in amusement.
Aonung merely scoffed in reply, crossing his arms defensively. “In your dreams.”
The sound of the waves softly crashing against the shore was comforting as you slowly kneeled down. The usual harshness in your doe eyes was replaced with something gentle as you became suddenly enamoured by the seashells at your feet.
“How do you feel about the arrangement?” Aonung joined you on the ground with a heavy sigh. He leaned back, his arms supporting him, and stretched out his legs. You peered through your lashes, staring at him, before softly scoffing.
“Bullshit.” You whispered. “You should already have a mate by now. Why do you not?”
Aonung shrugged. “I don’t want anyone here. None of the girls appeal to me. They will simply love me to elevate their status.”
“You’re getting serious. Using big words.” For the first time in history, you smiled at Aonung. It was barely visible, the corners of your mouth barely twitched, but he saw it.
“I want someone who likes me for me. Who doesn’t care about my status.” Aonung’s hand sifted through the grains of sand before he glanced over to see what you were doing. He was taken aback when he locked eyes with you. You were still staring at him while fiddling with an intricate shell.
“How cute.” You replied. Aonung watched as you stood up, brushing the sand off your skin. “I must go now. My family will be wondering where I am.”
You didn’t bother saying good-bye to Aonung. The words would have felt bitter in your mouth. Aonung let you leave. He picked up the shell you had left behind, twirling it around in his hands.
The truce between you and Aonung didn’t last long. By the next day, you were back to your usual routine; arguing nonstop until one of you surrendered.
It was the afternoon when you were finally free of Aonung. You watched Ronal as she worked, occasionally pausing to explain steps to you. An important job of being Tsahik was healing and since Neteyam was always the first in line, you had never bothered to learn. You were second in line and confident you would not have to take over for Neteyam. You were organising herb leaves when Aonung stepped into the hut, a shallow jagged cut running across his shoulder. You halted your actions.
“Y/N.” Ronal beckoned you over with a simple call of your name. She instructed you to hold Aonung’s shoulder down but the moment your cold hands brushed against his skin, he hissed.
“I don’t want her touching me!” Aonung exclaimed, pushing your hands away.
“You two will be doing a lot more than touching when you are mated.” Ronal huffed, lightly slapping her son for his petty behaviour.
Aonung turned to give Ronal a horrified stare. “Mother!” He shouted. “You know I would never do such actions with a tree hugger!”
You loudly clicked his tongue, delivering a sharp jab to his cut. He yelped in pain. “Jerk.” You grumbled.
“Spoiled brat.” Aonung quickly replied.
You opened your mouth to retort but you were quickly silenced by Ronal. “Enough!” The Tsahik exclaimed, glaring at the both of you. “I do not care how you two get along but the fate of this clan is in your hands. Do not disappoint me.”
“She’s not even Metkayina.” Aonung mumbled, huffing. He winced as Ronal disinfected the cut on his shoulder.
“Metkayina or not, it has been decided. You will accept it.” She sent a firm look your way, “Both of you.” She quickly wrapped Aonung’s wound. “You are dismissed.” She said, turning to you. “Aonung, spend time with her. I do not need your petty rivalry getting in the way.”
Aonung frowned but he didn’t not have the courage to defy his mother. He quickly grabbed your wrist, pulling you out of the healing hut. “Where do you wanna go?” He muttered, uninterested.
You kicked his shin. “I don’t know. You’re the one dragging me.” Aonung didn’t reply. He simply tugged you towards whatever destination he had chosen in his mind and you merely followed him. “I’m really hoping you’re not a serial killer now.” You voiced as you followed him through the thick vegetation.
“I would have killed you first if I was.”
You rolled your eyes at his response but you couldn’t muffle your small laugh. At least he got your sense of humor. Aonung’s ears twitched at the sound of your light giggle, suddenly wishing he had heard it sooner. Maybe he would have stopped targeting you if he knew your laugh was so pretty.
He pushed past the last leaf to reveal an area of the beach you had never seen. You tilted your head, intrigued by the warm sand and the light of the sun reflecting off the clear water. Aonung finally let go of your wrist but you found yourself missing his touch more than you despised it. You pushed the thought to the back of your mind.
“I’ve never seen this area before.” You uttered, stepping forward. There were more seashells littering the ground and you eagerly crouched to glance at them. Aonung pretended not to pay you much attention as he stepped into the water, letting the ocean lap as his warm skin. He watched you from the corner of his eye as you grinned down at the shell you were holding.
“You like shells?” Aonung questioned, wondering why such a thing could make you look so happy. You lifted your head, nodding. You had never seen such things in the forest. It was all leaves, trees, and dirt. The sea shells were a delicate difference.
“I used to like acorns.” You said, showing Aonung a necklace that had a large acorn nut hanging over your chest. Aonung’s lips pulled into a thin line as he bit back a bitter comment.
“Strange.” Was all he said before turning his head. Your interest in acorns and shells was… odd, yet it was also a little cute to see your eyes sparkle over such simple trinkets. Aonung stiffened at his thoughts, quickly shaking his head to get rid of them. He looked back a moment later to find you gone.
He assumed you must have run off when he wasn’t paying attention but he felt something grasp his ankle. He didn’t have time to react before he was pulled down. When he swiftly resurfaced, he heard your quiet snickers.
“That was not very nice.” He groaned, taking a hand through his now wet hair. You merely shrugged, showing that you didn’t regret it one bit.
“Payback for the time you dragged me around with your ilu.”
Ah, Aonung had forgotten about that.
You lay on your stomach in the shallow water, body pressed up against the sand. The water engulfed you while your head perched above the surface, perfectly dry now.
As Aonung attempted to wring the water out of his hair, his gaze suddenly flickered to your face. He found himself noticing things he hadn’t before, like how the four most obvious freckles on the side of your face formed a square and the way a few strands of curled hair framed your face. He felt his breath hitch and he subconsciously took a step back.
“Ew, were you checking me out?” Of course, you had to ruin the moment with a loud scoff.
“As if.” Aonung growled, kicking droplets of water your way. In response, you grabbed a handful of wet sand, flinging it at his chest. You mockingly poked out your tongue at him, a gesture he had seen Kiri do often. Ah, so she got it from you.
“You’re making it very hard to be nice.” Aonung hissed. You almost laughed. Him? Being nice? The word nice wasn’t in his vocabulary.
“If that’s you being nice, I’d hate to see what mean looks like.” You teased. Aonung angrily huffed.
“The deal between our families isn’t off.” He grumbled, “So, we’re stuck together. You could at least try!”
“Hm. That’s the smartest thing you’ve said all day.”
Aonung dunked your face into the water as retaliation. You gasped, spitting out a mouthful of water. “Jerk!” You screamed at him.
“See! You aren’t even trying to be nice!”
“That’s because you shoved my head into the water, dumbass!”
Aonung sat himself beside you, a little too close for comfort. “Personally, I don’t want to be stuck with an angry mate.” His gaze raked over you. “My mother said compliments always work. So, uh… I like your hair?” His statement came out as more of a question. You stared at him, unimpressed. You quietly sighed.
“Fine.” You groaned. Your eyes flickered to him, searching for something to compliment him on. “I… um…” You clicked your tongue before pressing your lips into a thin line. Finally, you spoke up again. “I like your eyes.” You choked out.
“What do you like about my eyes?”
“That’s not fair. You didn’t describe why you like my hair.”
“I like it because it’s bouncy and no matter what you do with it, it’s always styled perfectly.”
You suppressed the urge to snarl at him. “Your eyes are blue.” You muttered, “I like blue. They are… different from the yellow eyes the Omatikaya possess. The blue matches the ocean and I like the ocean.”
You saw Aonung’s lips curve into a teasing smile. “See? That wasn’t so hard.”
“I feel like I’m going to be sick.”
You returned to your family pod tired. Trying to see eye to eye with Aonung was far more exhausting than anyone let on. It wasn’t only your personalities that clashed. He seemed to hate everything you loved.
You liked seashells. He did not.
You liked heights. He did not.
You liked a specific type of fruit. He despised it.
You were ready to collapse on your mattress but you halted when you saw your parents packing your things. “Uh… what’s going on?” Your asked, tail lashing. Neytiri simply smiled at you.
“I know this sudden… arrangement is hard on you, daughter. Kiri has offered to stay the night with you in a separate pod so you can gather your thoughts.” Your bag was shoved into your arms. You narrowed your eyes, a little suspicious, but you were too tired to argue.
“Okay.” You slowly said. “As long as I have somewhere to sleep, I don’t care.”
“It’s the one at the end of the village. Hurry now.” Neytiri quickly ushered you away. You sighed, lugging yourself towards the pod that sat a little isolated from the rest of the village.
“Kiri, I don’t see how this is supposed to help.” You groaned as you walked in, hearing loud rustling. Kiri must have arrived before you. But your gaze landed on someone who was definitely not Kiri.
“You’re not Tsireya.” Aonung sneered.
“And you’re not Kiri. What the fuck did you do this time?” You hissed.
“Tsireya told me she wanted a sleepover… I had to agree because I owed her a favor.”
“My mother told me Kiri would be sharing the pod with me.”
Suddenly, it clicked. The two of you had been tricked by your own family. You were thinking of storming back into the village but your mother wouldn’t be very pleased. You were already on thin ice for punching a Metkayina boy last week.
Begrudgingly, you dropped your heavy bag. “It’s only one night with you.” You muttered but it was more to reassure yourself. You looked at the only bed in the middle of the claustrophobic room. “I call dibs on the bed.” You jumped on it before Aonung could retort.
“Well, I’m not sleeping on the floor.” He tried to push you off but you stood your ground.
“Neither am I.” You seethed. You glared at each other before Aonung scoffed. You grabbed a pillow, dividing the already small bed into two smaller sections. “You stay on your side and I’ll stay on mine.”
“Fine by me. As if I’d willingly want to be close to you.” He rolled his eyes in that infuriating way he always did when he thought he had the upper hand.
You shot him a scathing look before slipping under the covers, lingering on the far edge of the mattress as though it might save you from the awkward proximity. Aonung climbed in on the opposite side, keeping as much distance as possible. It was already night, the moonlight shining through the cracks of the fabric covering the entrance. You and Aonung fell into an uncomfortable silence, broken only by the sound of the ocean waves gently lapping against the shore outside.
You closed your eyes, ignoring the growing tension. You fell into a peaceful slumber, your chest slowly rising up and down as your dreams were filled with the familiar sight of the forest.
The next time you opened your tired eyes, it was morning. You slowly blinked before noticing a warmth around you. You shifted, the feeling of something firm against your forehead. You froze, almost letting out a shrill scream. You were pressed against Aonung as he gently rocked you, still fast asleep. His arm was draped over your waist, keeping you close, while his tail wrapped itself securely around your leg.
You attempted to wriggle free to avoid an awkward conversation when he awoke but his arm pulled you closer. “I’m not a teddy bear, you buffering buffoon!” You slapped his shoulder. He stirred, eyelids slowly fluttering open. The first thing he saw was your angry face. His grasp on you loosened yet he didn’t immediately withdraw like you expected.
“I told you to stay on your side!” You exclaimed, punching his chest. The hit did nothing to harm him. If anything, it only amused him.
“I did!” He fired back, “You’re the one who turned around and attached yourself onto me!”
“I did not!”
“Did so!”
Accusations flew from both of your mouths and yet you were still pressed closely against each other. “Ugh! Get away from me!” You finally pushed him away, rolling to climb out of the bed. But you miscalculated and you ended up falling to the floor with a loud bang. Aonung was immediately at your side, not wanting to be responsible for your possible concussion.
He helped you up, which was the most gentle he had ever been. For once, his tight grip didn’t cause an aching bruise.
“I’m fine.” You snapped at him as he pressed something cool against your throbbing forehead.
“Stop being so stubborn.” Aonung forced you to sit down, noticing how you couldn’t stand without swaying. He left the pod without a word. You assumed he was fed up with your attitude. You didn’t expect him to return two minutes later while you tended to your headache, medicine in one of his hands and a beautiful shell in another.
“I, uh, found this.” He grumbled, holding the shell out for you. “It reminded me of you.” It was a pastel blue with speckles of yellow painting it. You stared down at it, studying the shell’s shape.
Aonung cleared his throat, his cheeks suddenly feeling hot. You saw how his face flushed with color as he almost nervously fidgeted with his hands. “Do you… like it?” He asked, “Because I can take it back if you hate it. I don’t really care. I knew you’d hate it anyway.” He reached out to take the shell back but you instinctively pulled it away.
“No… I like it.” You whispered, growing protective over the shell.
Your gaze drifted down from Aonung’s bright blue eyes to his necklace, a piece of jewellery with intricately woven string that held a tooth in the middle. He was… relatively good-looking. His arm band, adorned with shells, was wrapped tightly around his bicep. Aonung had a sort of rugged beauty to him, shaped by the relentless ocean and the harsh tidal waves.
“Are you checking me out?” Aonung used your own words from yesterday against you. You merely huffed, a mix of amusement and frustration swirling inside of you.
“As if.” But your words came out quiet. You glanced down at the shell once more, trailing a finger over it in curiosity.
Perhaps Aonung wasn’t so bad after all. If you managed to look past his aggravating and obnoxious tendencies, he wasn’t exactly the worst person you could be stuck with.

growing up as a sully had its hardships. you were different from the other na’vi people because of who your father was. they saw you differently, you had an extra finger, and you were slightly shorter than your siblings and the people in your village.
but, it never stopped your family from loving you unconditionally. jake was your number one supporter, as his firstborn daughter he was highly protective of you but he gave you the freedom you deserved because he knew you could handle yourself and he always kept an eye out for you.
neytiri, your mother was strong, brave, and capable of anything she had to do. you took a lot after her, you were skilled when it came to hunting. she taught you everything you knew. she was so proud to be your mother, to have you as her daughter. you were the most beautiful thing she had done.
you were very close with your siblings. growing up, you were still young with lo’ak was born but with kiri and tuk you would always play with them, you were the big sister everyone dreamed of.
with neteyam, it was different. sure, he may be older but you were always a helping hand if he needed you. or, if he was having a hard time he always came to you. he took care of you as an older brother should, but sometimes he just needs a shoulder to lean on.
“y/n!” tuk cheered as you walked back to your home, you had gone out with kiri for a while to enjoy nature and help your sister find some items for her jewelry making. “tuk-tuk!” you beamed as she ran into your arms. “i made you something!” she handed you a piece of jewelry she had made, “oh my, ewya, this is gorgeous!” you grinned, “thank you” she watched as you put the piece on and she giggled. “so pretty!” tuk left your embrace, leading you back home where you were met with the rest of your family.
on one occasion, lo’ak, neteyam, and your father went out to hunt for a while but when they returned you knew the atmosphere was dull. mostly coming from lo’ak, you felt his sadness. “did he yell at you again?” you pulled lo’ak to the side he nodded, hanging his head low. “i’ll talk with him, okay?” you smiled, bringing your younger brother into a hug. “stay out of trouble, skxawng” the both of you laughed.
you were the daughter and sister they adored.
though, when you arrived at the metkayina clan things shifted. you weren’t as happy as you used to be, and it was hard adjusting to the different lifestyle. it didn’t help how the people saw you as a demon, often making comments on your appearance.
of course, you changed. you were slowly beginning to hate yourself.
“ma ite” your ears perked up, whipping your head around to find your mother who was approaching. “sa’nok” you answered, looking down at the sand. “what is wrong my child?” she questioned, coming by your side. it was late into the night, you weren’t able to sleep. you were tired of being alone with your mind so, you decided to get up and sit for a while in attempts to clear your head.
your family had moved to the oceanside in hopes of refuge. unlike the others, you felt alone. compared to the forest this was all so different, you missed playing in the trees, laying in the lush forest grass with your siblings. getting used to the sand and water was different, but oh was it beautiful.
the others noticed how you were different they’d poke fun at your height, your hands, your fingers, and your hair. it hurt, you’d stay up every night wondering if you were the problem.
were you that much of a disappointment to your family?
you shrugged, turning and facing the sea. “i don’t know, mother” you lied, fidgeting with your fingers. “just could not sleep” you felt her hand rest on your shoulder, of course, you knew that she knew something was wrong. it was your mother, she knew everything. “something is troubling you” you nodded, pursing your lips. “what is it, my child?” tears welled in your eyes, ears flattened as you looked at your lap. “i’m alien. everyone hates me.”
neytiri felt her heartbreak, seeing you like this and thinking people could hate you. how could anyone hate her special girl? she pulled you close to her, resting her head on yours as you quietly sobbed into her chest “oh..itetsyip” she cooed, brushing your hair behind your ear.
“what’s going on?” jake emerges from the hut after hearing a bit of commotion. you both raised your head turning back to find your father. his eyes scanned you, and seeing your puffy eyes he went into full dad mode. then, he looked at neytiri and they held eye contact for a moment.
you weren’t okay.
“what’s wrong, babygirl?” he asked, coming to your side. you felt a lump in your throat when he asked, all this time you had been bottling it up and now, you were about to explode. “i’m so tired” you cried, falling into his arms. jake held you tightly, neytiri rubbing your back gently, “shhh, mawey mawey.” your mother hushed your cries.
“i’m sorry if i’m a disappointment, father. i’m trying my hardest” you cried into his arms. you weren’t able to take the pain much longer. you began to hate yourself. “look at me.” he pulled you from his embrace, holding your face. “you are not a disappointment. i don’t want you to ever say that about yourself again, okay?”
as a father, you’d never want to hear your children say they were a disappointment. you were the greatest thing jake ever did. “yes sir” you nodded, wiping away your tears. “my daughter.” neytiri grabbed your attention, wiping away your tears. “ewya blessed me with the honor of being your mother.” she smiled sadly, “more than all of the stars in the sky, you are so loved. ma y/n” she pressed a kiss on the top of your head.
“let us go to bed now, it is late.” she stood up, reaching for your hands and jake followed suit.

(MENTIONS OF DEATH)
word count:1862
My father takes me out hunting with him. The hunters of our clan hunt closer to the end of the reef for bigger fish to feed our people. My father Tonowari looks away from me for a bit looking at the net to see what has been caught. I lean down to put my hand into the water and fall off making a little bloop noise. My father doesn't seem to notice me swimming off from everyone, talking to the hunters. “Uhm… Sir, wasn't your daughter with you?” A hunter asks, looking down and not seeing me. My father chuckles thinking he was joking and reaches down to pat my head and realizes I'm not there. He rushes into a state of panic telling hunters to look in the water for me. “Y/n!” My father yells out to me but I only hear his voice, not able to make out what he is saying.
I swim in the water watching a baby Mawup swim around. I see a small spiked-back creature with a white underbelly a few meters away. I turn my head sideways confused about what it is. It looks as if it's copying me, turning its head to me too. I reach out as it muzzles its head into my palm, it moves its head and swims closer to me and nuzzles against my leg before I feel a pair of strong arms lift me out of the water. It swims away from the big figure, scaring it off. “I want to go back!” I say patting my father's back, he chuckles. “Your mother would skin me alive if she found out I almost lost you near the reef boundaries.” He lifts me onto his Skimwing and then calls the hunter back, they all grab the net of fish for the week before heading back. I see our village Marui’s soon getting larger as we get closer. Once we reach the sand, I jump off to tell my mom what I saw. I see her and my big brother playing in the sand, building a small house out of the sand. “Mama, Mama!” I yell out to her and her head turns to me smiling, opening her arms open, and hugging me. I jumped into them excitedly to tell her what I found. “Mama, guess what I did!” My father arrived shortly after lifting my brother, Aonung, and swinging him around before sitting Aonung down to let him finish his same marui and listen to what I was saying. “So Daddy took me to where he gets fish and then I went to touch the water and fell!” I smile looking at my mom to see if she was listening. She smiles at me before glaring at my father. “Then, I swam and saw a big spiky fish, it was nice and it was a baby like me,”
I explain my mother looks at me confused never hearing of a spiky fish, she looks at my father confused he shrugs I continue, “It was gray, and his belly was white (a baby akula🤭)and he was so cute! We are friends now!”
I walk up to Aonung and ask him what he’s building. “It's a Marui, I'm gonna have my own when I grow up!” I smile and sit next to him. “Can we be neighbors? I want a big marui made out of seashells?” I ask excitedly, barely able to contain it. It was a radiation of happiness growing off of me.
*10 years later*
Y’all know I love some angst so here we gooo
I jumped in the water, something was off, It was hard to stay above water, the adrenaline from previously being on the boat and saving my sister, and the sully’s wore off. I hardly breathe, almost gasping, making Neteyam turn to me, he looks at me and his face drops in fear. “Lo’ak, Y/n’s been hit!” Neteyam yells, looking at me before dragging me to an Ilu. I started thinking about this inevitable death. I closed my eyes and blinked very slowly. Not fully coming to terms with it, I needed to talk to my family. I needed to see them even if it was the last time, for a long time. I hardly realize me being picked up and placed on something rough. I feel my back pressed to the rock and look around at the sand surrounding me. I hear yells from my mother, feet running against the sand. “Eywa no..” I see her lean over me on her knees, hair covering the light from the fire. I feel somewhat strong hands grabbing my hand and holding it. I turned and saw Aonung's tears filling his eyes. “Oh sister, what has happened?” Aonung asks me, but I couldn't respond. I see Tsireya drop-down next to me, she leans over my leg rubbing it. Oh, and how much it pained me, I turned to my father, anger filled his eyes but hiding behind that anger was sadness, an incurable emotion. My chest heaves up and down as words escape my mouth, “I see you, all of you” I see them look up at me as my mother's silent cries break out into a full-out sob, and my chest heaves for one last time.
The full sully family around me surrounded your body, Your mother lifting my body and hugging me, screams escaping her lips. Your father dropped down, and he broke down. Your father was a strong man with no weaknesses except one, his family. Neytiri tried to confront my mother by putting a hand on her shoulder. “GET AWAY! AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! AWAY FROM MY FAMILY! LET US MOURN, THE DEATH OF MY OLDEST DAUGHTER!” Ronal yells and hisses at Neytiri, yanking away her shoulder. Tonowari, hardly able to lift himself from the sand, goes to his mourning family, grabbing them and pulling all 5 of them together. There were no more Troublesome 3, only 2 and ½ kids left. He had to protect them no matter what, he could not let them take them as they took his oldest daughter. Tears seeped out of Aonungs eyes, no more swimming together, no more bullying each other, no more sibling rants, no more Y/n. He sniffles and looks at his remaining sister wondering about the thoughts that raced through her head, staring at her older sister.
Tsireya wanted to give up, her sister kept Tsireya grounded, she was in touch with her feelings but her older sister helped her get over the bad emotions… She kept Tsireya afloat when all she wanted to do was sink. She kept her balance, but as she watched her sister in the fight between life and death, seeing death win stabbed her heart repeatedly.
But nothing could even fathom how Ronal felt about her oldest daughter, her little girl that she cradled in her arms dead. The daughter she taught to be in touch with Eywa, the girl that grew into a beautiful healer, and strong like a warrior. The little girl that she sang to every night until they could sing together. Gone. Even when they argued and lost patience with each other, she felt lucky to even be a mother of a beautiful girl. She couldn't turn back time or pray to Eywa that she’d come back to her. She just hoped she could see her on the other side. To Eywa she returns, she'll find herself in a room with all the people we've lost and she dances with joy as pure as her father's heart.
And oh her father, her poor father, he would've given up everything he ever done, owned, or achieved to get his child back. He lost a piece of himself he could never get back, her smile now a memory in his mind. They can't ride together, and no longer practice spear fighting. If only he had one more day to hold onto his daughter tight, not like today when he let her free from his grasp of protection, he shouldn't have let her go. But he had to hold on for his kids, and his mate in such a vulnerable time for his family. Villages have fallen, from the sky people but out of all the stress of trying to keep his people safe, she was the reassurance he needed to push on, all of his kids were. Oh, how he was grateful to have the days he had with you. Now memories, memories he won't be able to relive with you now that you are gone. Time felt frozen, a moment feeling like forever. He wished upon every great star in the sky, for you to come back. Sadly, that’s just not how life works.
A few hours later they had to lay you to rest, in the ocean from which you were born. Ronal prayed that you will meet again whether in another life or before Eywa. Tsireya and Aonung cried watching as their, your parents swim below to put you to rest. Tonowari’s eyes were red as if they burned, from crying so much. Ronal knew you were somewhere you can be free from the murder and chaos of this world. Tsireya whispered a small prayer to Eywa, hardly intelligible, Aonung hand placed on her shoulder. She looked at his eyes brimming with tears again as Aonung pulled her into a hug. This night was forever marked in their hearts, always a reminder of what came of their sister and oldest daughter. Aonung wanted to scream but he couldn't, it wouldn't come out of his mouth. In his eyes, you could see sadness and pain. It wasn't just another night, it was a night where you fought for your life and lost. He knew everything in this world dies but he never thought yours would come so soon. Your parents emerged from the water, the water dripping off of them as they looked at their remaining children. Ronal swam and grabbed them and hugged them, she wanted to shield you all from this.. and she failed. She couldn't shield you but as she held her last 2 kids she knew she had to protect them. Tonowari came closer holding his whole family in his embrace, he felt as if someone was missing, and that someone was you. Where danger found them, it follows with tides of anguish and pain. Tonowari looked up into the sky a new star in the sky, not one of the sky people but a beautiful star and it shone on his family, the tears that he cried as the star twinkled, he believed you were letting him know that you were watching them and protecting them.

JUST THE START
Lo’ak x Metkayina!Reader
Summary: It was like love at first sight, he’s never seen anyone so beautiful. Lo’ak is determined to gain ___’s affections and his brother is all for the ride. Warnings: Mentions of Na’vi racism, Swearing, Harsh parenting, Deep waters Word count: 2.7k
The reef people where strange, their tails were big, their arms and legs had a funny shape, they were a different shade of blue…
But their home was beautiful, it was unlike anything the Sully boy has ever seen. Their way of life was similar to his, yet they are apart of the water and his people the forest. The creatures they ride were different and the ‘breathing’ they do was hard to adjust to nevertheless. But at least he had his siblings with him so he wasn’t alone.
They were currently a few weeks into their new home, it was hard leaving the Omaticaya people but for the safety of his family it had to be done. His sister TukTuk found it easy to adapt, she enjoyed the ilu riding and Tsireya was a great companion, she was eager to teach his younger sister the way of water. Kiri was an enigma, she wasn’t happy with being here naturally. But once she saw the sea for the first time, she gained new opinion. She was quick to learn and very eager, often going off by herself to swim and sometimes Lo’ak would catch her sitting by herself and staring at the fish circling her body, ‘what a weirdo’
Neteyam hung out a lot with their parents, helping Neytiri with hunting and gathering food for the family. Talking with Jake about their lessons they each respectively took part of, and they sometimes whispered about home. Sometimes he hung out with Tuk, it was favouritism really, even though they had a big age gap they held a close relationship.
Lo’ak spent most of his time alone, if he wasn’t being taught breathing by Tsireya he was out in the reefs with his ilu, admiring his new home. Right now that is exactly what he was doing. Taking time for himself he swam under the water, exploring what was inside the barriers. Eclipse was near, but he didn’t care, his heart ached at the thought of going back to his family, he knew his dad would get angry at him for going so far from the shore and at such a late time.
An ilu call caught his attention, his ear wiggled and he glanced towards his left, narrowing his eyes and looking at the bioluminescent glow that’s starting to appear. The call then came from his right and he felt a tap upon his shoulder, jumping he turned around. There was a Metkayina girl on an ilu smiling at him. ‘’what are you doing out here, it is getting late’’ she signed, caught off guard he didn’t know how to respond. He cant remember ever seeing her around before, was she Tsireya’s friend? Ao’nung’s? Eywa give him strength if she was apart of his crew.
‘’I could ask you the same” he responded, deciding to be docile. She doesn’t seem to mind the fact he was the ‘demon’ of the village, despite staring at his extra finger.
‘’your family noticed you were gone and I volunteered to come get you’’ she started to direct her ilu in the direction of home. Motioning for him to follow her back ‘what was she doing with my family?’. He followed her, questions bouncing around his head and when they resurfaced from the water they got louder. They both were heading towards the Olo’eyktan’s and Tsahìk’s murai. ‘What’s going on. Shit, is it me? Am I in that big of trouble?’ Lo’ak wouldn’t push it past him, his father always had something to complain about when it came to him.
‘’Daughter, you were gone for a while, we are happy you found him’’
‘DAUGHTER?’ Lo’ak was the most confused he’s ever been, ignoring his mum who was pulling his ear and opting to look at the girl who brought him back. He didn’t remember her from when the Sully’s first landed on the beach, only getting face to face with Ao’nung and seeing Tsireya, but now as he really saw her out of the darkness of the water, she really did hold a resemblance to her parents. With wavy black hair and pretty wide blue eyes, she was also wearing the traditional Metkayinan clothes with excessive jewellery.
‘’I apologise father, he was quite hard to find’’ she turned go Lo’ak and introduced herself as ___ daughter of Tonowari and Ronal, future Tsahìk of the Metkayina clan. Lo’ak did the motion of ‘I see you’ in respect, only because his mother did a whack to the back of his head. ___ returned it giggling and sat in between her siblings, she was Tsireya’s twin he noticed. They looked so similar.
‘’___ has been busy with duties so she has been unable to properly talk to you all at the start, and recently she was away with divers outside the reef! She has returned today’’ Tsireya explained seeing the confusion in his eyes and fiddled with some trinkets her sister brought back for her, giving a shell to Tuk when asked.
‘Yes and in turn abandoned her Tsahìk duties. We were supposed to go over healing herbs this week again’’ Ronal complained, she was happy her daughter is back and safe. But the duties of tsakarem were important, especially if her daughter was supposed to lead the people.
‘Enough of this, our child is back and Toruk Makto and his family are here. We must eat’’ Tonowari wanted no conflict tonight, he invited the Sully’s to talk to Jake about the skypeople. They have been sighted by reef divers outside the boarders, far enough to not be near Awa’atlu and harm the clan but they were near enough to be trouble. As long as they took their weird demon ship away from them, Tonowari wont take the warriors to fight.
As the family’s conversed between each other and ate, Lo’ak caught himself sneaking glances at ___. She was pretty, very pretty. The way the white freckles decorated her teal skin really made her look as if she was made by the great mother’s own hands. Neteyam noticed his brothers distraction and smirked, he, the mighty warrior, will come up with a plan. He will be his little bros wingman.
However, on the other side of the murui Ao’nung wasn’t having the best time. He noticed the forest boys fleeting eyes at his sister, he will not tolerate it. But his parents would be angry if he caused a commotion, so he let it slide.. for now. He turned to his little sisters ‘’you know that freak keeps staring at you right’’ he whisper growled, his fangs making a slight appearance.
A tail hit his back, ‘’do not call him that brother, he might just be curious, he hasn’t seen me until now yes? Let him be’’___ whispered back, looking at the boy mentioned who only tuned his head quickly, not wanting to face the embarrassment of being caught.
Tsireya also noticed her friends glances at her twin and overheard what her brother said, glaring at Ao’nung. She didn’t like how he was causing the Sully kids trouble, just because their father was from the sky doesn’t mean they should be labelled as freaks. Her eyes turned to Lo’ak and caught contact with Neteyam who was still cheekily smiling at his brother, they nodded to one another and Tsireya grinned. They were plotting.
After last nights events the Sully’s left to their own hut to get some shut eye and Neteyam made little comments the whole way, teasing his younger brother knowingly. Lo’ak smacked him on the arm growling ‘’shut the hell up moron’’. But deep down he knew his brother knew, he was infatuated with her. He never was with the girls back at the forest but this Metkayinan was different, he could feel it.
The sun rose high up in the sky and made the water glisten, Lo’ak and his siblings where joined by ___and hers, along with Rotxo. They were all tasked with teaching the Omaticayan’s on breathing, they were good but there was so much to improve.
___ was sat next to Lo’ak who’s heart was racing, her hands were on his chest and stomach, feeling him. ‘’your heart is beating too fast, you must slow it down’’ she advised, how would he ever be under the water for long periods if he cannot breath properly?.
The boy closed his eyes and inhaled slowly, his hearts pacing slowing down more. He held a breath and cleared his mind of anything..and anyone. After a while he opened his eyes and immediately took notice of his teacher. His heart pace grew fast again and was noticeable with how his chest rose and fell, and he exhaled to breath properly. His tail flicked in embarrassment ‘fuck did she notice?’
‘’Lo’ak you were doing so well’’ she tutted. Neteyam grinned and his ears perked up, he caught eyes with Rotxo who grinned back. They knew. Kiri however was not amused and rolled her eyes ‘boys’.
Wanting to get his sister away from that skxawng as soon as possible, Ao’nung proposed diving again and everyone agreed. It was good practice being under. The kids all tried calling their own ilus, the blue Na’vis sounding absolutely ridiculous (Lo’ak accidentally calling a mating call) but Kiri’s, somehow she was a natural at this.
The Metkayinans laughed and connected their queues, going under and directing their students further from the shore. They all did their own tricks in the water, looping over rocks and sometimes jumping out of the water doing flips, calling out like warriors going to battle. ___ grinned, she missed home. Being out the reef was fun and all, but there’s nothing better than being with family like this.
Lo’ak caught up to her and swam in loops around her, smiling when she copied his actions. Bubbles were created and obstructed their view from behind, they didn’t notice knowing looks from a curtain warrior. Creep.
‘’Hey lets go towards the cove’’ Rotxo signed, there was a cove far down beneath the water. It was filled with many glowing fish, some cool shells and rocks and lots of oceanic fauna. It also had a large air pocket and some rocky land for them to breath and sit down in.
‘’Cove?’’ Tuktirey signed, curiosity getting the best of her. She looked at her sister who shrugged and motioned them all to go to the surface. They swam up and inhaled the fresh air. ‘’what is this cove?’’
‘’It is deep within the water, but it is cool to hang out in’’ Rotxo explained, his friend nodded and agreed.
‘’But you are forest people, your breathing might not even last long enough to reach it’’ Ao’nung teased and Tsireya smacked the back of his head, scolding him.
The Sully siblings all looked to each other with determination, they could do it. ‘’Where is it?’’ Lo’ak called out, not one to back down from a challenge, especially from an ass like him.
‘’Follow me’’ ___ directed everyone to take a big breath and went below the surface once again. They all followed her as she went deeper and deeper, where the light from the sun couldn’t even reach, darkness slowly started to engulf them but when their eyes adjusted their ears twitched and tails swung with awe.
It was beautiful, the creatures glowed in bright oranges, blues and pinks. The plants swishing and lighting up the path to the cave. ___ turned back to take in their expressions, her eyes crinkling ‘’is everyone ok?’’ she signed with one hand, wanting to make sure everyone was still on board with going down. Thankfully it was easier and faster with their ilus.
Lo’ak took notice of the glow around her, it almost created a halo of light. Part of his thought he must be dreaming, how is someone so majestic real?
They all nodded and swam deeper, soon reaching an archway of stone and the Sully’s soon felt their lungs constrict. Still not used to long periods of time under the water. Tsireya noticed and swam off with Rotxo, ___ keeping the kids calm and instructing Tuk to slow her heart.
The two that went off came back with, massive fish things? They gave one each to the blue Na’vi and connected their queues to them. ‘’they will help you’’ ___ instructed and got off her ilu, her tail swishing as it pushed her to go into the cave, the rest followed and they soon resurfaced in an air pocket ‘’this is the cove, there are tunnels that stretch do different areas’’
‘’Can we explore them?’’ Neteyam asked, not wanting to intrude with anything. Kiri was more curious about the things on their backs, playing with the one on Tuk’s who giggled.
‘’yes of course, it isn’t hard to get back either, so you shouldn’t get lost’’ Tsireya answered, dragging herself up onto the ledge and ringing her hair out. The rest soon followed, Kiri asking about the creatures that helped them ‘’they are txampaysye and help give air to you through tsayhelu’’ the teal girl explained, happy to teach the girl about anything asked.
Lo’ak climbed out the water and quickly held a hand out towards ___ who took it, she was pulled up and onto the ledge giving thanks for his help. ‘’so..uh do you wanna show me around or something?’’ ‘smooth Lo’ak. Smooth’ he mentally slapped himself. His cheeks warming and turning lilac.
‘’of course I can. We can catch up on missed time together. Come’’ ___ noticed his flush and didn’t say anything, her heart beating slightly fast. She took his hand and slowly dragged him to one of the entrances to a tunnel. Neteyam made eye contact with his brother, wiggling his brows.
‘I hope you drown, feel my stink eye’ Lo’ak glared at him, the older turning away and speaking to their companions while he himself was led through the twists and turns of the cave.
They then reached the end of the tunnel and his eyes widened at all the glow worms on the ceiling and pretty plants that surrounded him. There was a pool of water, that he assumed led out the cave from another entrance, that was filled his pincer fish and jellyfish. ___ watched how his yellow eyes glowed in the light and let go of his hand.
‘’It is beautiful yes? This is my favourite place to come’’ ___ walked around and came to the edge of the pool, diving inside ‘’join me?’’. How could he say no when those blue eyes looked at him so prettily. He dived in.
When he resurfaced he shook his head from side to side, getting some of the water out. ___ squealed and slapped his arm, splashing his face when it went back into the pool. ‘’Hey!’’ Lo’ak laughed and splashed back. This turned into a full blown water fight, ___ having an advantage for obvious reasons. This continued for a while, laughs and screams of happiness echoing around them until the boy had enough and grabbed her arms. Breathing deeply and smiling, catching his breath. He noticed a flower beside them, he reached over and picked it. The plant was a dark pink with orange wrapping around the petals. He turned and saw ___ looking at him questioningly.
Lo’ak’s heart was beating fast as his hand put the flower behind her ear. The girl flushed and smiled wide and the boy returned it shyly ‘’it looks beautiful on you…’’
‘’Thank you Lo’ak’’ his tail was going crazy, even splashing the water behind them. ___ giggled and held his hands, looking deep into her eyes. ‘’I.. cannot wait to get to know you and your siblings better’’ she stated, squeezing his hands.
‘’Me too, more emphasis on you though’’ He cheekily grinned, feeling confidence coming back to him suddenly. He liked her, more than anyone he knows and he knew he had to make her his.
What they didn’t notice though, was the glowing fish that was in the water surrounding them, swimming in circles like they do with Kiri. The soft glow of the fauna around them pulsing.
Eywa has spoken.
‘’Yesss!!’’ Neteyam pumped a fist into the air and high foured Tsireya who decided to follow him, along with the others. This was only just the start.
Ao’nung could only watch in disgust.

This drawing gave me huge nostalgia. Idk why, maybe cause I tried to give it an old atmosphere. I’m not sure if I succeeded, but I love it anyway
So this is Asura with her spirit sister Kau’tuni. I imagine Kau’tuni bigger than average Tulkun, she is huge and may be terrifying if you see her for the first time 🐋

He takes you to watch the stars come out.
He takes you to fly with his ikran. Slow of course, not to fast. He is scared that you will fall.
Always holding your thighs while flying.
Him teaching you Na’vi dances, so you guys can both dance together at festivals.
He lets you braid his hair. Because he enjoys ur fingers on his hair. It gives him comfort.
He gives you the biggest hugs when you are unhappy.
Cuddling. Like a lot. Him being the big spoon. You falling asleep on his chest. His hand around ur waist.

He talks to his siblings about you.
He sneaks out of his hut, to come to your room and sleep with you.
He never lets anyone say bad things about you.
Neteyam
He is really gentle with you too. Like really gentle. Never raises his voice at you. Never hisses to you. He only hisses playfully.
Him teaching you how to hunt. How to catch a fish.
You reading him books you love that are from earth. He always listens carefully.
He wakes you up before 12pm so guys can have breakfast together.
He gets worried so much when you get sick.
“Do you need something, like hot tea? Fruits? Medicine? I can get some medicine from my grandmother.”
Always keeping somethin with him that belongs to you. Bcs he misses you so much when he is on missions.
He is really interested in human biology. So he sometimes asks Norm about things that he is curious about.
“So you humans bleed down there..?”
“Neteyam where tf did you learn that?!”
He lets you style and braid his hair. He really enjoys it.
He holds you close when you wake up from a nightmare.

Hello there,I hope you're having a good day! I'd like to say first that I love your works! Could I request a Kiri x F!Reader where one of reader's loved one passed away and she doesnt tell anyone until a few days later when she hasent eaten since and didnt sleep as well and just breaks down in front of kiri who just end up comforting them and giving her love? I recently lost my uncle and I miss him so much.
— 𝔂𝓸𝓾'𝓻𝓮 𝓼𝓪𝓯𝓮 𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓶𝓮 — (kiri x fem!reader)
requested: yes
pairing: kiri x fem!omatikaya!reader
tags: comfort after losing a loved one
warnings: lowercase intended, loss, self-neglect, mention of y/n being thin because of lack of food intake
a/n: characters are aged up!
hello, mushroom! thank you so much for sending in a request. i'm very sorry for your loss and sending all my love to you and your family. losing a loved one is very hard and it will hurt for a while especially when you're close to that relative. i will admit, it hurts to lose them especially when we want to achieve something that you want them to witness.
the healing process will take a while, maybe months or even years, but i'm here to say that letting out your feelings is okay because it will lessen the hurt you will feel in the future. speaking from experience, whenever i think of my grandma, yes i tear up from time to time but as time passed, all i will remember are the happy memories i spent with her instead of her passing.
you're a strong person, okay? a person with human emotions. it's okay to let them out and to grieve for your loss. if people think otherwise, then they're wrong. all the strong people i know are comfortable with feelings. i may not know you personally, but i believe that you are a strong person.
i hope this fic gives you a sense of comfort and sending my condolence to you and your family. *sends virtual hug*

for the longest time, y/n had been with her auntie for as long as she can remember. her parents were no longer present because of the sky people during one bad raid and her aunt, the sister of her mother took her in. her aunt was there in every big event of y/n’s life. from creating her songcord to bonding with an ikran. her aunt was her rock, her inspiration, her best friend, and her mother figure.
so when y/n’s aunt passed away after battling with an unknown illness, y/n didn’t know what to do. hell, she didn’t even know what to feel. can she even mourn in front of the others? does anyone even know that her aunt was missing these past few days? questions and uncertainties filled her mind as she held her aunt’s head to her chest, her body growing colder as time passed. when everyone was asleep, she quietly buried her aunt and collected their favorite flowers, and placed a woodsprite over the body. she placed her aunt’s songchord in her arms before burying the body. she added a small but visible marking over the grave then left to go back home, where she would feel the cold of the night as a home of two became a home of one.
y/n didn’t show up to any of the clan’s gatherings since that night. she had let go of her health as she became a husk of what she once was. the people grew worried when they noticed that y/n nor her aunt had been showing up the past couple of weeks. why were the two keeping to themselves? did something bad happen to them? did they leave the clan one night and never returned? are they on the run? the omatikaya clan could only assume what happened, except kiri. the oldest sully daughter couldn’t help but get a gut feeling that maybe it was something deeper.
knowing y/n all her life, kiri knows that she and her aunt wouldn’t just get up and leave out of the blue. maybe they were going through something, sure, but to leave the clan? she doesn’t think so.
kiri planned on sneaking out of their home to go visit y/n and her aunt when midnight comes. she thought of what to say and what to do before arriving at the front of their home. ‘everyone is worried for you two’, ‘some of us missed you’, ‘i missed you’. the last had her shaking her head ‘no’. what was she thinking?! this might be a serious matter and she’s putting her romantic feelings upfront. that can wait for now.
when she was finally in front of y/n and her aunt’s home, she peeked in the bedroom window, only to be met with y/n’s figure sprawled on the floor, her aunt nowhere in sight. panic filled her body as she immediately let herself into the house to check on the omatikaya in front of her.
kiri noticed that y/n had grown thin as her eyebags sunk deep as if she hadn’t been sleeping right and this was the only time she actually had any form of sleep, her breathing erratic as sweat fell down her forehead. ‘she’s having a nightmare’ kiri thought as she softly woke y/n. the girl shot up from her nightmare as panic began to seep into her body. she looked around looking for her aunt, only to be met by kiri.
tears began to fall down her face as she immediately clung onto kiri, sobbing heavily as she does her best to keep herself as close to kiri as she can as if the sully kid was going to disappear if y/n lets her go.
kiri could only hug the crying na’vi as she whispered sweet nothings, reassuring y/n that she was not going anywhere. the lass calmed down after a while, her body shaking from the lack of nutrition in her body and loss of sleep since the burial.
“what happened, ma paskalin? where have you been?” kiri asked as softly as she can as if her voice was louder, the girl in front of her would break. after a deep and shaky breath, y/n explained what had happened and why she had been gone.
the sully kid didn’t know how to react after knowing this information. she felt angry towards herself for not approaching y/n earlier and for not comforting her earlier, another was she felt sorrow that another member of the clan had passed away and joined eywa. she wiped y/n’s face with her thumbs before pulling her back into a hug, one hand holding y/n’s head and the other resting on her lower back. y/n’s arms were wrapped around kiri’s waist.
y/n was still shaking as weeks of neglect on her body caught up. kiri will have to help her get well and help her process her grief in a healthy way. now, y/n needed her more than anything else. confessing her feelings will have to wait until her love was in a better mindset.
for now, kiri will protect and comfort y/n as best as she can. she places a soft peck on top of y/n’s head as she sings to y/n softly. after weeks of sleep loss, y/n finally fell asleep in comfort. her breathing became normal as her grasp on kiri didn’t falter.
kiri laid down, y/n still in her arms and chest, as she rubbed y/n’s back. “you’re safe here with me.” she whispers to the sleeping na’vi as she herself falls asleep.
starting tomorrow, y/n won’t be alone as she thought she would be.

𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒚𝒂𝒎 𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆 ˚ ༘♡ ·˚ ₊˚ˑ༄ؘ
summary; neteyam didn’t know how head over heels he truly was for you - until he saw Ao’nung and his friends bullying you.
word count; 3.2k (really proud of this one! let me know what you think 🥹🩵💙)
THE BOND.
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
Neteyam knew he was going to have a difficult time adjusting to The Way Of Water. From the moment he landed his Ikran, the defensive stares he'd received from the clan had him bowing his head in shame.
He knew how bad his family looked - running away from a war and seeking uturu in a place with peace that wished to stay undisturbed.
He never talked badly about the treatment he and his family received, because he knew how big of a sacrifice they were making by letting them stay. And he was thankful.
But there was a certain part of him - a secretive, tucked away piece that desperately wished he could be treated the way he always wanted to be. Equally.
Not questioned in any way - or seen as something to avoid. That was how he wanted the clan to react. Not be put on a pedestal - like back at home, where the pressure to be perfect was crushing. And not stomped on - like some sort of a threat, something to be questioned and investigated when he had first arrived. A burden.
Oh how he hated the treatment. The glares he'd first received. The backhanded compliments from Ao'nung and his friends - boy's his own age. Even the Tsahik's comments had him up at night - tossing and turning as he wished - dreamt for things to go back the way they were. When it was just him and his family - peaceful and alone in their home.
He was walking on the sand when he first saw you. On a stroll during the night whilst his family slept - trying to clear his mind. A small movement in the water had caught his eye - and it was only natural for him to go and see what it was. He approached the water with careful steps, the bioluminescence of the underwater plants shining through as he peered down - looking for what had made movement underwater with furrowed brows. His eyes searched the water carefully - but he saw nothing.
Unbeknownst to him however, you had seen someone approach the water and swam behind one of the reefs easily. You gently lifted your head above the water, watching the boy search the sea with a curiosity you simply found adorable.
The way his brows were knitted together with confusion had you smiling - how his tail wagged expectedly behind him as your mind came up with the clever idea to play a harmless trick on your clan's guest.
Of course you had seen him around - but you had been watching from afar. Not letting him see you so you could take in the guests who'd come to your island without them noticing.
Your arms moved forward, pushing downward as you swam deep into the water - a simple maneuver to avoid any water at the surface moving and giving away your presence underneath.
He was leaning over the vines now, still positive he'd seen something as you finally made yourself visible - curls with the most colorful shells braided into them was one of the first things he saw as you met his eyes -
What an extraordinary shade they were.
You smirked, whispering a playful boo as those stunning eyes widened.
He was startled, stumbling backwards from pure surprise - you had caught him off guard, and the fact made you laugh.
He watched as you came out of the water - the act reminding him of a flower blooming with the way your beauty appeared when he'd least expected it.
The way you approached him was mesmerizing- your curls moving like waves when you walked. And the manner in which you moved your hands to do the gesture I see you had his clenched fists opening with a tender feeling too overwhelming.
He knew Eywa had heard him - knew she had given him something so special when he'd first seen your precious smile.
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
You were exceptionally good at making him nervous.
It was a feeling he'd been feeling a lot recently.
Like when the Tsahik would visit his family's Marui and ask how they were doing, her piercing eyes unwavering as Neteyam quieted instantly - his palms sweaty as he waited for the news. War had come. They had to leave - any of those seemed possible with the way her eyes seemed to ice over when she looked at them.
Mastering the Ilu was another thing he'd grown nervous of - watching even Lo'ak - his baby bro - whom he'd always needed to help, master it and already bond with the fellow clan members had him saddened. The disappointment was something suffocating as he struggled every single day.
But with you, his nervousness was something different
It was like a bird - fluttering and caged in his chest, wanting to break through and fly freely.
You became the one he would seek out every morning and night, his mind beginning to recognize the familiar path from his Marui to yours. He liked how your stare wasn't something accusing - but something curious. Your gentle questions soothed him - they were calm and kind and so sweet that his face would warm due to the thrilling sensation of your eyes staring into his.
There was something different about you from the rest of the clan - something he loved so much.
Your eyes were the darkest color he'd ever seen was what he'd quickly realized. They were not the same striking turquoise as the rest of the clan, but a deep hue of blue that reminded him of home. A shade so comforting to him, one that reminded him of the sky before eclipse. Of the plants back at home - of himself and everything he loved.
Maybe they should have been alarming - it would have been to anyone else who'd never seen such a color. But for him, it was different. He could never put it into words - but your eyes never made him uneasy.
Unexplainable, was what you'd told him when he'd asked you about them, it was a trait you were simply born with.
He wondered if you had yet realized that your eyes were the exact color of his skin.
You loved exploring the island too - you'd take him with you, showing Neteyam your favorite sights and your favorite treats to eat.
When you asked him about his life before - he didn't speak with the sadness he expected to come when talking about his home, but a feeling similar to bliss came as he imagined showing you the forest. Oh how you would adore the plants - the animals - and how well you would fit into his clan. Your heart would be something they would treasure. He imagined showing you everything he loved the same way you showed him the reef.
It did not take long for him to realize that you did not have friends.
He'd see you at dinner, sitting alone but seemingly pleased as you ate by yourself.
You were in your own little world was what he'd quickly realized - you'd watch the sky a lot and close your eyes, a content smile on your face was how he'd catch you many times. He wished to be with you - in whatever world you were in.
You were like his sister, Kiri - your connection to Eywa so deeply rooted, just like hers.
He worried he was interrupting your solitude at times- but he did not want to leave you alone.
When he asked if he was in fact distrusting your peace, you laughed - a sound that had him releasing a breath he didn't even know he was holding in.
No - he was not, in any form, disturbing your peace. You told him he was someone you looked forward to - and the fondness in your voice had him moving closer to you - where the two of you sat on rocks nearby the ongoing clan having dinner
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
"You look forward to meeting me?"
The hesitation in his voice when he spoke was heartbreaking. He was looking at the water - avoiding your eyes. But they glistened in the moonlight, and you felt your heart break at the sight. You promised yourself to never see him so unsure of himself, to always show him how special he was. How special he was to you.
"Neteyam." You whispered
He turned, swallowing the lump in his throat as you smiled at him, unable to contain your affection for the Sully boy
"You are special. So special. I am beyond lucky Eywa has allowed our paths to cross. To me, you are my secret treasure." You teased as his familiar smile appeared - his sharp fangs peaking through as he looked at you.
"Funny. I thought the same way about you."
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
He did not know when he had fallen for you, but he knew he was too caught up and entangled in your little word to even realize.
Maybe it was when he saw you interacting with Tuk the first time. He'd been looking for you all morning - worried and sad by the fact that he simply could not find you for the life of him, only to hear your bubbly laugh - followed by his little sister’s as he found both of you swimming together
"Neteyam! I made a new friend!" Was what Tuk squealed
"Neteyam, how could you hide this adorable little girl from me for this long?" Was what you'd asked teasingly, Tuk's eyes round with love as she looked up at you with nothing but pure adoration from your kindness
Or maybe he realized his love for you when you gifted him his favorite accessory - a simple bracelet with a beautiful blue shell intertwined expertly between the thin vines - your cheeks pink and your laughter nervous as you handed him the gift. His cheeks were just as red as he stumbled over his words - thanking you over and over again as you looked at him with the same eyes he loved so much
He never took it off - never would.
Sometimes he thought it was when you'd first met - but he knows that even if it was, he only grew to love you more as the months went by.
But when did he grow so protective?
He knows what day that was.
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
Ao'nung had been persistent, annoying you to the point where you had simply stopped replying
"I mean, I knew you were a freak from the start - but betraying your own clan, hanging out with that Sully boy? I mean - that is just low." He laughed, his goons right behind them as they only encouraged his insults with their own rising laughter
Your head was down as you continued weaving the basket in front of you, not even raising your head to look at the crowd of boys around you
"Yea, why do you even hang out with him? Found someone as out of place as you? Didn't know you'd be so friendly with those half bloods - "
The way he'd spit his words out was what angered you the most
"Do not call them that." You finally snapped, Ao'nung was unable to stop himself from taking a step back from the look in your eyes
"You are wrong - I hope you know that Ao'nung." You seethed, eyes alight as the boy bared his teeth
" I can't believe you. You should just leave with them - I doubt anyone would miss you." He spat, hands clenched by his sides as you heard a voice
"Hey!"
It was a distant sound, but your brows furrowed with alarm as you watched Lo'ak approach - immediately standing in front of you with crossed arms
"Don't talk to her like that." He said firmly as you tried blinking away your surprise - of course he'd seen you and Neteyam together at times, but you'd only spoken to him on a few occasions. Your interactions were short - but sweet. You knew he'd taken a liking to you, but you never believed he was willing to stand up for you like this. You smiled, standing up to match his height as you hissed at Ao'nung's little crowd - the boys immediately moving back and mumbling something as Lo'ak laughed - turning back to you with a proud gleam in his eyes as you merely smiled back
Of course they felt threatened by you - some thought your silence and solitude was something dangerous, but you never felt the need to explain that this was just how you were. Talkative - but not with everyone.
"Familiarizing yourself with the whole family I see." Ao'nung barked as you merely shook your head, a frown on your face as you gently grabbed hold of Lo'ak's shoulder
"Come on, it is ok. We'll leave." You insisted gently
Normally, Lo'ak would've ignored a command like that and barged head first into the argument - but Lo'ak knew his brother - he'd never spend so much of his time with someone who wasn't worth listening to. And he knew you - though very little, you were someone he trusted.
Slowly, he nodded his head, shielding your body from the group with his own as he led you away from the crowd. Unfortunately, Ao'nung's hand found your arm as he tugged you back the second Lo'ak turned his head.
You stumbled back as Ao'nung practically growled at Lo'ak
"Think you can just take every person from this clan to mix with your dirty family?" He snapped, eyes alight as he stared at Lo'ak with nothing but hate - you were trying desperately to pull your arm out of his grasp as he tightened his grip.
"Ao'nung - let go." You pleaded as Lo'ak clenched his jaw, looking towards you and where Ao'nung's hands forcefully held you before shaking his head.
"Sorry, Y/n." Was all Lo'ak said as he moved forward to attack Ao'nung with a fury she believed no one could waver - all until she heard him.
No - no she did not hear him, she simply felt his presence. And his rage was not something to be reckoned with as he split the group apart with a menacing shove - knocking some boys over as they tripped from the force of his push - their yells of surprise were silenced as Neteyam stood in front of Ao'nung.
His lips were pulled back - fangs bared threateningly as Ao'nung's face fell
"Back. Off. Now." Neteyam hissed, standing in front of Y/n and Lo'ak - the younger Sully boy almost cowering behind Neteyam - never had they seen him so... enraged.
Ao'nung scoffed - but remained silent. Looking back and forth between the three in front of him before scowling - turning away, and walking off. His little friends were following the boy's footsteps only moments later - their yells of outrage ignored as Ao'nung merely walked away.
Neteyam turned around, his eyes concerned as he immediately reached for Y/n - his hands holding her shoulders as he looked into her eyes - looking for any sign of hurt or pain -
"Are you ok? Are you hurt?" He questioned - and Lo'ak watched you nod your head, whispering I'm fine repeatedly as Neteyam wrapped his arms around you the momet you confirmed you were ok
"It is fine. We are all fine." She reassured as Neteyam finally looked towards Lo'ak - who only stared back with wide eyes
He'd never seen Neteyam so upset before. And he'd never seen Neteyam so... protective. He'd covered Lo'ak's ass multiple times - but the way he'd approached Ao'nung had Lo'ak's own teeth clattering, feared for Ao'nung's safety - but sickeningly pleased by his brother's reaction.
"Thanks bro." He managed, giving Lo'ak a gentle smack on the back of his neck as the boy merely swatted his hands away with a laugh
"Don't touch me bro!" He said, a grin on his face which faltered as he turned towards Y/n with a gentleness in his eyes that Neteyam had not seen before.
"You ok?" He asked as Y/n smiled - moving forward and enveloping Lo'ak in her and Neteyam's hug - the trio now standing with arms all around each other as she laughed
"Fine! More than fine. Thank you, Lo'ak." She cooed, gently pinching the boy's cheek. He looked away, his blush evident and bright as he shrugged his shoulders, suddenly shy as he mumbled a quick no worries that had Neteyam laughing - this time, Y/n being the one to gently swat the back of Neteyam's neck for teasing the younger Sully boy.

You were laying on the sand - the moonlight shining on you and outlining your figure.
He stood only a few meters away - his hands clutching the necklace in his hands as he watched you with the same nervousness fluttering in his chest.
Your head was tipped towards the sky - lips pulled into a content and peaceful smile - something he wished to never disturb.
And he wouldn't - but his favorite eyes peaked open, immediately catching him.
You never failed to feel his presence.
He laid down next to you, and you shifted your body to lay closer to him. His gift was tucked underneath the palm of his hand as the sound of the waves crashing against the shore filled the quiet.
He rested his head against yours, and you leaned your body into his as he gently grabbed your hand, moving your fingers and pointing them towards the sky.
"You know, my dad came from a star."
You listened quietly, your hand squeezing his and giving him the reassurance he needed to continue.
"That one - right there." He whispered, pointing towards the gleaming light as you followed where he’d moved your hand - staring at the faraway star he pointed to with a faint smile
"I have a feeling you are about to tell me something important." You whispered, and he looked back at you - stared right into those beautiful eyes as he grinned
"You know everything about me - but this, this is something I have not told you yet." He whispered back, sitting up as you followed his movements
"My dad tells me all the time about his love for my mother - I was talking to him yesterday about how he knew he loved her." He started, eyes gentle as his hands held the necklace behind his back - fingers running over the engravings he'd spent hours carving as you looked at him with the same curious glint in your eyes that he loved to see
"He said he did not know - he was spending too much time with her to notice how badly he had fallen in love. But - when he did realize, he said it was like her filling a hole in his heart he didn't even know he had." He breathed out - and you could feel your own heartbeat quicken as he moved his hands from behind his back to reveal the most beautiful necklace you would ever see.
"Y/n - you and I, we are made for each other. I know this. I feel it everyday - " He spoke - his voice breaking as he looked at you, tears brimming as you tried to calm yourself by taking a few breaths
"Be my mate, yawne." He whispered, his smile so bright and beautiful as you finally sobbed
"Neteyam - yes. Yes yes yes!"
He put the necklace around your neck - a courting gift - his finger tracing over your stripes as he clasped it - securing it before moving his hands to cradle your face.
He kissed you - sweet lips meeting yours.
"My sweet girl."

The archer.
a soulmate.
can be platonic.
can be romantic.
can be hateful.
What if it was all of the above?
———————————————————————————————————
Y/n Te Suli Neytiri'ite.
“She is too much like her mother” Her father said to himself as he took apart his gun for maintenance. “Her and the bow…Eytukan would be proud.” He also added while putting the parts of his gun back in the chest.
A girl loved by her people, her and her twin, Neteyam were the stars. His courage and kindled spirit, and her nonchalant and violent one. The two held respect for others, the life and their family.
She had the beautiful ability of archery, being one of the best in the clan. She was just…different.
Her world would be turned upside down when they leave the forest. And when she meets a boy, whom hates her and her family.
Her mother speaks of soulmates, another spirit who was graced by Eywa will come into her life. The story of old goes; ‘Eywa had once saw two spirits of kind, and thought in one they’d be to powerful but in two they balance.’
Neytiri would tell her, and she’d just ignore it.
But she can’t ignore the feeling in her chest when she meets a certain fish boy.

˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
fluff only!! Implying reader is a girl
needs to be touching you at all times, even if its as simple like holding your hand or touching shoulders because he wants your comfort ♡
he tries not to raise his voice around you to keep the image of him being a calm and collected person in your head (spoiler alert: it never works because he’s always having to yell at Lo’ak)
he tried to cook for you at one point, you thought it was cute until he almost burned your hut down trying to do a “cool trick”
loves to lay side by side with you and look at the dark sky thats filled with various stars
he gets so embarrassed when he sees you watching him get scolded by his father
LOVESS YOUR COOKING ♡♡
his family loves you, especially tuk as she now has someone new to play with ♡
kiri is kind of glad that she has another girl to talk to, other than Neytiri and tuk ♡
he always tries to impress you with different kinds of tricks, and when he fails the trick, he’ll literally practice until he gets it right
his favorite thing to do with you is fly freely with your ikrans ♡
he tries to convince you to skip your tsahìk training to hang out with him (it never really works)
sorry it was short, i was actually loosing interest pretty fast with this so im sorry😭
