Could I request angst headcanons for dating Kingo and Druig, poly relationship, please
Poly! Kingo, Druig, and GN!Reader Angst headcanons
Tumblr media
I think there would be two major points for angst in a poly relationship with Kingo and Druig and that would depend on if their partner was immortal or not
If their partner was immortal:
I feel like the main point of angst and grievance would come from the romance slowly fizzling out over the years
It would be nobody's fault.
yeah, Druig could've tried a little harder to plan dates
of course Kingo could have spent less time working and more time with his lovers
but in the end, it would all dial down to the allure of discovering something new in the relationship
Bickering would turn into arguing and arguing into full blown fights
Slowly, you would all become worn down, and part ways.
The love you hold for each other being the downfall because the love you had for each other made you fight hard (and in the end not hard enough) for a relationship that is doomed to fail
If their partner was mortal:
If their partner was mortal, Druig would fall madly and deeply in love, (maybe even quicker than with an immortal partner) only for the realisation that they could maybe have fifty or sixty years together before age and illness caught up with them
He would pull back from his partner
Starting with small excuses
"I have to tend to the villagers"
"Sersi has asked for my assistance..."
Each trip would last longer and longer, until he would be tempted to never return
Druig knew he couldn't handle his partner dying, it would break him and Kingo. He would never be the same.
Knowing this, he would urge Kingo to join him, saying that you deserve a relationship where you could grow old with your partner.
Kingo would reluctantly agree, but he couldn't just leave you
So he would watch you slowly age from a distance and tell himself that it is for the best.
but he was trying to convince himself more than anyone else

his hands gripping your thighs tight, almost bruising them. he had you pinned against his face, leaving you no room to squirm or get away. his tongue lapped at your folds, and he ate like a man starved. the tip of his tongue teased your clit, and he drank in your gasps and moans, pressing you down further onto him.
he was always eager to settle his head between your thighs, it was like his happy place. your dripping pussy was all he needed in these moments, and he felt like the luckiest man on earth when you let him please you, devour you, worship you. he didn’t have any other care in the world, nothing else mattered to him but your pleasure, and helping you chase that sweet release he knew you craved.
you gripped the headboard and threw your head back, rocking your hips against his face. you could hear him moan beneath you, and you glanced back at his aching cock, but then felt yourself jolt forward as his nose bumped against your clit. it was a stuttered breath that left your lips, and one of your hands dropped you grip his hair, making him groan. his grip on your thighs only tightened, and you could feel yourself getting closer and closer to the edge.
“oh … oh shit …” you breathed, and you swore you could hear him chuckle under you. he knew what he was doing, and he knew it drove you crazy, but that was what you loved most about him. he always knew how to treat you right, and you felt like royalty on top of him. you again heard him mumbled against you, and it was like a reassurance, telling you you could let go. but also a warning: he wasn’t going to stop even if you did. but in that moment, you didn’t care.
“fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!” you gasped, and your muscles tensed, your toes curled, and you orgasmed with a cry of pleasure. and yet his tongue continued to delve between your folds, and you couldn’t escape him. your sensitivity only spurred him on, and even as your orgasm washed over you, you knew it was going to be the first of many that night.
just like it always was.

DECEMBER DRABBLES – DAY SEVEN: First Snow with Kingo from Marvel's Eternals.
Tumblr media
It didn’t matter how many times you saw snow, it was always as beautiful as it was the first time you’d seen it. The way it landed on the trees, settled on the ground. The way it glistened in the light and the way it made winter so much more magical.
The second you’d heard that snow was forecast today, you’d been glued to the window, waiting to see if it would actually snow.
Kingo, who was sat on the couch, his own eyes glued to the television as he watched a movie, was amused at the way you stared out at the snow-less street.
“How long are you going to sit there?” He asked you.
“As long as it takes for it to snow.”
The movie had been going for nearly an hour at this point and you had been watching for snow for the entire time. Kingo wondered if watching nothing was that entertaining.
“Just come and watch the movie with me, please?” He tried.
It didn’t work. You looked away from the window for a second, just to see what the movie was, before you caught the sight of something fluttering through the air outside the window.
Snow.
You gasped, sitting up straighter. It was snowing! It was finally snowing. The forecast had been surprisingly correct. It was coming down quickly, now, already beginning to settle on the grass of your front lawn.
Without hesitation, you jumped up from the couch and hurried to the front door, heading outside to take in the snow in all its glory in person. You held a hand out, watching as small snowflakes landed on your hand and began to melt.
Kingo, smiling, had paused his movie and followed you out, leaning against the doorframe and watching as you stepped out into the snow. The smile on your face was more beautiful to him than the snow.
He watched as you spun around, letting the snow fall on you and hoping that you didn’t slip over on the snowy path that led to your front door. The snow was falling on your shoulders, in your hair, on your eyelashes.
“There’s snow in your hair,” Kingo said, loud enough for you to hear. “It’s so pretty.”
You raised a hand to touch your hair tentatively, feeling the wet from the snow on it, and smiled. “You should come and join me and get some snow in your pretty hair, too!”
Kingo snorted, yet he obliged and came to join you in the snow. He’d follow you anywhere.

Beautiful, Beautiful Lightning Bug (Druig x Reader)
It was raining again. Yes, it was your fault. The looks you were getting from Sersi and Sprite all too familiar, but as much as you tried to cut it out you couldn’t, you were just in one of those moods. It used to be rainbows and sunshine, but as England was known to be a gloomy rainy place anyway, you could pout and get away with it without causing too much worldly upset.
Your boot kicked at the cobbled path as you waited outside the pub for Sersi and Dane to finish saying their goodbyes. Some guy had pissed you off inside, making advances then getting angry when he heard the word ‘no.’ You left before you did anything that would bring attention. If anyone was to blame for the dreary weather, then it was the dickhead that had one too many Jack Daniels and coke.
The rain seemed to dissipate as you started the walk home along the canal. Dane looking at you from time to time, he knew something was up, it didn’t help that Sprite had been feeding him stories about the eternals even though your existence wasn’t common knowledge, you tended to leave things down to the avengers.
You knew the jig was up as soon as the Deviant rose from the chilly water. Your body tingled and your hair rose with a static wind as your fingers started to crackle, your eyes no doubt were white with the reflection of lightning. You struck first, Sersi and Sprite making sure Dane wasn’t in the firing line. Volts of electricity erupted from your fingertips and struck true, the Deviant snarling as you charred one of its legs. You turned your head to make sure the others were safe, which was a mistake as the Devinant took a swipe at you, its claws catching your stomach making your cry out. Sersi was quick to stop it in its tracks while you tried to recover and you watched as she vaulted the wall, leading it away from you, Dane and Sprite.
The night ended with Ikaris making a grand entrance and saving the day as always. You were used to it, always in your older brother’s shadow. You were happy to see him, even if he had disappeared for years without letting anyone know where he was. Years in your lifetime didn’t seem like much in the grand scheme of things. He told you off, like always, for allowing yourself to get hurt for the sake of a human. You were sure he was just salty because the human in question was Sersi’s new boyfriend.
He was kind of right though, telling you off for getting hurt, the Deviants scratch was worse than you first anticipated, and it hurt, it didn’t hurt like this in the past. Luckily you were fast healing, and you were on your way to seek Ajaks. She was a healer, your leader and she would know what to do, she always did.
You’d arrived at the ranch a couple of days after the attack; however, it was too late. The Deviants had made it first and the sky crackled a brilliant purple as you let out your pained cries. You’d held Ajax’ lifeless body in your arms as rain poured from the heavens soaking you to the core. She was basically your mother; she was to so many of you. You had always looked to her for guidance and knew you could always confide in her, now she was gone.
That brought you to now. Hesitating in the background floating on a dark cloud that you had conjured. After re-grouping with Kingo, Thena and Gilgamesh you’d made the next stop that had your stomach doing summersaults.
You winced as the scars across your abdomen flickered with pain. Thunder shook the rainforest and birds sprung from their trees, wings flapping hard against the unnatural wind that had disturbed their peace. Thena peered at you through the trees with a knowing look. You were nervous. You hadn’t seen him in a few decades after some stupid fall out.
The others entered the little church like building while the villagers stood around and watched, their voices becoming eerie and controlled. You heard arguing and could hear his voice amidst the chaos. His Irish accent making heat pool in the bottom of your belly.
Your cloud floated to the ground, and you stepped off, your heavy black boots making squelching noises in soggy leaves. With a deep breath you pushed on the heavy wooden doors. All eyes turned to you, but the only ones you caught were a brilliant gold. His face softened as soon as his eyes met yours and in three long strides you found yourself being wrapped in his arms.
Your eyes watered instantly; you were home. In Druigs arms, you were home. You breathe deeply, his warm earthy scent invading your senses. Your hand reached up to play with the hair at the base of his neck which you knew he loved. He shivered and held you tighter, pressing his lips to your forehead.
“My Beautiful, beautiful lightning bug, was that you making all tha’ noise outside?”
You lifted your head from under his chin to peer up at him with a blush, your cheeks reddening when Kingo made a gasp in the background. Your turned to see his assistant/cameraman Karun pointing the lens at the two of you. It was no secret to the girls that you and Druig have been a thing since, well, forever. Either the men decided to block it out or they really were that oblivious. For Arishems sake… you were even married.
“Kingo ge’ your mans camera out my girls face unless you want to be struck by lightning.”

Odd One
5000 BC
Summary: People used to say eleven is better than ten or was it two is better than one? Regardless, in the sea of tens and even, there is only one eleven. It doesn't matter, you've always loved to be the odd one anyway.
Pairing: Thena x reader (female implied)
Warnings: Violence, attempt humor?
Disclaimer:  I do not own Eternals or any of the related characters. Eternals is owned by Marvel Studios. This fanfiction is intended for entertainment only. I am not making any profit from this story. All rights of the original Eternal story belong to Marvel Studios.
A/n: this series has been in my drafts for years. This is more like a self-insert reader movie version of The Eternals. As you may have noticed, I loved doing self-insert fics so if you're not fond of this kind of writing, you can just scroll ahead, but if you are, then enjoy, my loves. Who knows, I may suddenly find the inspiration to continue this.

In the beginning...
...before the six Singularities and the dawn of creation, came the Celestials. Arishem, the Prime Celestial, created the first sun and brought light into the universe. Life began and thrived. All was in balance.
Until an unnatural species of predator emerged from deep space to feed on intelligent life— they were known as Deviants. The universe was plunged into chaos.
To restore the natural order, Arishem sent Eternals— immortal heroes from the planet Olympia, to eliminate the Deviants.
Eternals had unyielding faith in Arishem until one mission, led by the Prime Eternal, Ajak, changed everything...
*****
You weren't expecting much about this terrestrial planet you were sent to for a mission.
Earth.
From where you stand from space, this Earth appears to be a white-swirled blue marble, but you can still see a bit of white, yellow, green, and brown components.
You assume that water makes up the blue area as it is pretty much an essential requirement for a planet to be habitable, and judging from what you see, Earth is mostly covered in water. Meanwhile, the swirls of white you could see are probably clouds. The brown, yellow, and green portions visible from here are supposedly the land.
You also note that the north and south hemisphere of this planet has more white areas instead of the usual land color.
They must be filled with ice and snow, assuming from their location, that they must not have gotten enough direct sunlight.
You could practically feel your fingertips and palms tingling at the prospect of having all your elements available on this planet. With that fact, it will be easier for you to manipulate it against your opponents.
'I won't fail you, Arishem.' You thought, determined to finish your mission with utmost excellence.
"Your thoughts are loud."
You were startled at the new voice that joined you.
You tried to compose yourself before mentally reprimanding yourself for failing to notice a new presence in the room before turning to her.
It was the platinum blonde eternal from across the room earlier. You managed to catch the name of the others after that mission briefing, however, you never got the chance to know her name.
The only person you knew is Sersi. She's your sister after all. She's the epitome of kindness, you're not entirely sure but she has this aura around her that seemed to welcome everyone. She has always been kind and sweet that's why it was no surprise she was able to rub that attitude on you. It's just contagious that way.
You and she almost have similar powers, being siblings and all. Her powers are all about matter transmutation. She has the ability to reconfigure and change the chemical and physical makeup of any non-sentient being. While yours is more on element manipulation. It's already pretty much self-explanatory. You can control and create all available elements on a cosmic level with your mind. Though it's not only limited to fire, water, air, and earth. You also had control over its sub-elements.
If you can control and create fire, you can also manipulate a volcano. The same goes for air, having the ability to manipulate it means you can also change the weather or even take the oxygen someone is breathing; manipulating water also means that, by extension, you can control any bodies of water; whether it be their flow, pressure, phases or even buoyancy.
It's pretty much versatile, potent, and destructive.
No wonder Sersi was excited to gush with you about how both of you can help the people on Earth to advance faster than any other civilization.
Not long after, Makkari decided to join the conversation. You learned that she has superhuman speed and that is not only limited to moving, but she can also think, perceive and read just as fast. Due to her powers, she's unable to hear but she was still able to communicate with you via sign language. This is because the ability to hear would hinder the use of her super-speed, she had explained.
You had also met Sprite who's currently being teased by Kingo and Gilgamesh.
Sprite has this child-like appearance, which closely resembles a teenage girl yet you know better that she's probably the same age as you guys. She has this sarcasm in her that seemed to match Kingo's energy. He's funny and charismatic and loves to tease Sprite relentlessly along with Gilgamesh, who, despite his big physique, is actually seemed soft and kind. He was the one who approached everyone to introduce himself.
Nice guy.
The two Eternals only stopped the teasing when Arishem suddenly appeared behind them, and the whole room suddenly transformed into a vast space. Gil and Kingo went pale for a moment before Sprite stopped the illusion as she started laughing hysterically.
You got to be honest, you were about to pee yourself as well. You have never personally met Arishem, and the only thing you knew about him is based on what Ajak tells you. She's the only one who can talk to him. Not to mention there is a towering statue of Arishem the Judge standing stoically at the center of the chamber where all the Eternals communicate with Arishem and the Celestials.
Well, it was mostly Ajak who was doing all the talking, and she's repeating Arishem's words towards you all. It's mostly about your possible centuries-long mission on Earth.
What Sprite had shown you all is a big, and by big, you meant a huge version of Arishem. His size is so enormous that the sun looks like a pinball compared to him.
If that's what he actually looks like then you have more reason to fear him.
Ajak approached you all to reprimand Gil and Kingo for teasing Sprite, and Sprite for using Arishem in her illusions.
You fought back an amused grin as the three bowed their head down like a child being scolded by their mother. This is not all that far from the truth, Ajak's like the mother of the group which makes sense since she's the prime eternal.
You had also talked to Ikaris, and he seemed a bit robotic, perhaps distracted or something. He only told you a quick "it's a pleasure to fight alongside you" and all that. After that, he left the room.
Meanwhile, Phastos is sitting in his original place, tinkering with some tech hovering over his palms. He's friendly, but a bit neurotic.
You mentally noted that you shouldn't startle him in the middle of work.
After that, you found another fellow eternal munching an apple on the side of the room. Druig seemed aloof at first but it looks like it's actually a part of his personality. You and he talked a bit, and you're surprised about how many similarities you both have. You also noticed he's been eyeing Makkari from across the room but never made any motion to approach her.
After a while, you had excused yourself as you're determined to know all your fellow Eternals. Besides, you'll be working with each other for a long period of time. It would not be so bad to be acquainted with one another, right?
That's what you kept saying to yourself, and not because your eyes kept straying towards a particular eternal ever since you woke up inside the Domo.
Your eyes began to search for her around the room as she's the only one who hasn't been able to introduce herself yet but she was out of sight, and so are Ikaris and Sersi. You could have sworn Sersi followed Ikaris earlier when he left while you assumed that the blonde eternal has left the room as well not long ago.
You are protective of your sister, and being the good sibling that you are, it didn't take long for you to notice that Ikaris took an interest in Sersi. You don't trust that guy just yet, so you left the room and decided to seek her around the Domo. That's what you kept telling yourself, that you're searching for your sister and not a certain blonde eternal. You had come to a stop when you came across another huge, domed room, it was surrounded by a panoramic view of outer space.
From here, you can see Earth just below you. It's quite hard to not be drawn toward its beauty.
And now here you are in front of her. And it seemed like she was the one who found you, not the other way around.
"You can read minds?" You asked tentatively, turning your attention back to the view before you, and away from her scrutinizing gaze.
It's one thing you noticed immediately about her. She either has this blank look like she's reminiscing something from the past or she's like examining you with her eyes.
And it's not that easy to look away from it, for it was the color of new spring growth, brilliant and delicate at the same time. There were sparkles of vigor, some kind of green that only appears as summer approaches.
You caught yourself from treading this line of thought as you remembered she may have been able to read minds, and your cheeks burned slightly from the thought she might have read this as well.
You hoped the change of colors of your cheeks would not be that noticeable. However, the way her lips slowly curled upwards into a small smirk tells she might have noticed it or she might have read your mind already.
And you're not sure which one is worse.
"I was just kidding. I cannot read minds," she says in the closest tone of joking she could muster, though her face says otherwise.
You find yourself grinning slightly as well, "Now, that would have been embarrassing for me if it were." You bowed slightly, a form of greeting you had picked up from previous civilizations. "I'm Y/n."
"Thena." You love the way her eyes smiled as well at the gesture. She held out her hand and you took it as soon as she lend it. It was soft, delicate but firm.
Just like her.
5000 BC
MESOPOTAMIA
As the Domo began slowing down to land on Earth, all of you didn't hesitate to get offboard as you heard the screams of help from the civilization below you.
You had no time to admire the ocean as you expect, not when these monsters are staining it with their ugly jaws, and saliva.
"It is time."
The moment that word left Ajak's mouth, you all knew what must be done.
Ikaris, the ever impatient one, flew high and shot cosmic beams from his eyes, just in time to save a kid from being devoured by one.
However, it looks like these deviants are much stronger and more durable than you thought. And not to mention there's a greater number of them here than you guys.
But you weren't deterred, not when the elements of the Earth are on your side.
Ikaris flew in pursuit of the deviant he shot. It looks like it can fly as well.
Another bunch of deviants came swarming from the waters and almost attacked the kid again. Good thing Makkari was faster. From your place, she immediately sped past through and grabbed the kid away from harm. She does the same to the others being attacked.
Seeing that the others are doing their part already, you decided it's time to shine as well.
Feeling yourself being engulfed by fire, you propel yourself like a rocket towards your prey. You sure as hell don't have flying abilities like Ikaris does but this is the closest thing to flying you can do.
You collided with a deviant that almost tackled Makarri as she's too focused on saving the people. You stomped your foot towards the ground, creating a massive barrier made of rocks and soil, making their attention towards you and away from the people.
There are at least three deviants as huge as what Ikaris is currently fighting eyeing you like a dinner served on a silver platter.
Great.
The others are too occupied to help you, so it looks like you're on your own then, not that it's a problem.
One deviant decided to attack you, and you were able to circumvent its assault just in time. You used its own momentum and manipulated the air around you to fling him towards the other Deviant. That bought you some time at the very least.
The standing one is preparing to strike you now but you didn't offer it the satisfaction to do so as you stomped your feet again towards the ground, ice immediately disperses around you and formed enormous spikes at the last minute, impaling its body at numerous places.
Its high-pitched sound alerted not only the other Deviants but your fellow Eternals as well.
"Man, cool it down there!" You heard Gilgamesh laughing from afar before punching the deviant right on its face, giving Thena the chance to lacerate its limbs.
"Give me some enemies, Y/n!" Kingo calls, charging his powers before firing at one of the deviants you were facing.
You only chuckled at their antics. "I suggest getting out of the water though."
Right on time, using Makkari's sonic boom and Kingo's finger guns, two deviants were hurled towards the water; right where you wanted them to be.
Your fingers twitched ever so lightly as specs of electricity came out of your fingertips. Your hands barely even touched the water and yet the electricity came crawling over the waves and onto the two deviants. They tried to wriggle free and fly away, but before they could, you already froze the water from where they are.
Ice isn't exactly the best conductor of electricity, but due to the immense power you released, it cracked the ice you created and immediately traveled to their flesh, leaving them no choice but to wither in pain until they die.
"Good job, guys!" You signed towards Kingo and Makkari.
"Yeah," Kingo raised a thumbs up. "Great fighting."
Makkari smiled, clearly impressed before signing, "you two as well."
The two then decided to evacuate the civilians while you scanned the sea for any more predators lurking. But it seemed that's the last of them aside from the deviants Ikaris is fighting which seemed to be the pack leader, and the other one Thena and Gilgamesh are facing.
It looks like they can manage, so you decided to watch their fight from afar.
Gilgamesh is a mighty powerhouse. His raw strength alone can send a deviant flying away from him. Meanwhile, Thena is a graceful fighter.
And you wonder how can she release multiple attacks when she's changing every weapon she wields every second, making it difficult for the deviant to avoid her assaults.
You watched as Gil deals a powerful blow, making it stagger back. Thena came from behind it and began to slice its limbs. The deviant stumbled down a bit from lack of support from its legs. She didn't let it recover from that as she lacerated its face with numerous attacks.
The monster wasn't deterred by that attack. Thena decided to transform her daggers into longer swords. As the deviant tries to bite her head off, she fought back with a series of slashes on her own. In split seconds, she changed her weapons into a spear and shield. She didn't let the deviant back away as she uses the spear to stab it in its neck.
Gilgamesh then uses that opportunity to charge another punch, making the monster back away. Using that momentum, Thena propelled herself on the top head of the Deviant.
Using her spear again, she delivers the final blow by stabbing the spear onto its head.
You can only stare in awe as she executed a complete aerial cartwheel to get away from its head, and landed on the ground with a grace of a landing bird.
Now, it's only Ikaris and the pack leader left.
You debated if you'll fly there yourself or not. You knew he'll be pissed if you steal his spotlight. You are tempted to do so but as you looked up, looks like Ikaris is already delivering the final touches.
One powerful punch from him plummeted the deviant towards the water, or rather the ice you had created earlier that somehow made its way halfway in the middle of the sea.
You didn't flinch as the deviant landed on the ice with a sickening crack until it completely submerges into the water.
As it was a pretty large deviant, imagine a surge of harsh waves coming onto you, ready to swallow you.
You are particularly fond of the ocean, you really are. But you don't find it thrilling to be wet right now. And so, with a flick of your wrist, you divert the waves to the other side of the sea.
"Really, Ikaris?" You said, irritated.
You can see Ikaris smirking as he landed next to you. He almost slipped from the ice if he was not able to grab your shoulder in time. "I thought you loved the sea."
You only rolled your eyes at him. You regretted mentioning you were excited to see the waters of Earth. Plus, your initial thought about him being robotic? Scratch that. The guy is a complete competitive idiot.
You smirked, remembering what he whispered to you before you descended from the Domo. He wanted to bet who would be able to kill deviants more, you or him.
"I am afraid I was able to kill three deviants while you're struggling with one, my friend." Your lips curled up into a teasing smile.
He was about to retort when the Domo came materializing out of thin air. It was descending just above the shore. Without a word, Ikaris flew the both of you towards the shore to meet the others.
You met Thena's eyes when you settled down. You give her a small smile before turning your attention to the other five Eternals descending from the Domo.
If she returned the same, you never know. But you could feel someone's eyes on you for the rest of the day.
As expected, these people became hostile to your presence. When the eleven of you tried to approach them, they had raised their weapons, if you call a pair of brittle spears made of wood a weapon.
Druig, the actual mind reader and mind controller steps forward. His eyes shone, and the eyes of the people followed suit. A sign he already has control. They began to lower and drop their weapons.
Druig released them from the spell, and you can see the confusion drawn on these people.
Ajak approached Ikaris, and only then you notice he has a contusion on his left shoulder. Using her powers, Ajak was able to heal his wound within seconds.
After that, Ajak gave you all a look. She didn't have to say it but you know it's somewhere along the line of 'great work, everyone.' She stepped forward, and you all decided to follow suit. This must be where you need to introduce yourselves to these people.
The kid from earlier also stood forward, which is probably because his mother urged him. You can see he's skeptical but is willing to know who are these people who save them.
Ajak gave Sersi a nod, and she must have understood it, whatever Ajak wanted to say.
With cautious steps, Sersi walked toward the kid, but not before grabbing what you assumed was a knife made from flint. As she laid out her hand towards the kid, the flint knife suddenly turns into a much more durable blue and gold one, which you assumed was made from high carbon steel.
Reluctantly, but surely, the kid took the knife from her hands.
And you commend Sersi for doing this. As it's much, much better than just saying 'we're the Eternals and we are here to protect you from the deviants.'
As you stare at the horizon, you saw how exceptionally beautiful this world is. You're not sure if the other planets you had been to before could ever rival Earth.
Its beauty is exquisite. And you began to wonder if there's such thing that could ever rival such perfection.
As your eyes began to wander back to a pair of green orbs, for a moment you thought that maybe there is no such thing that could ever rival Earth's perfection but you're sure someone definitely can.
And you are graced with the ability to see that certain someone just right in front of you.

Wow you’re writing is great! If you’re not busy, would you do a Druig request where he’s in love with his fellow Eternal who’s generally neutral in family fights but one Druig manages to bother her enough that he feels guilty and asks for forgiveness because he can handle everyone else being mad at him but not her? Thank you in advance!

Druig was getting on your last nerve. Literally.
Arishem had gifted you the ability to heal others, but what you hadn’t told the rest of the Eternals was that this “ability” came with a catch - each time, you had to absorb the injury in order to heal it. Early on in your inception, you’d decided it was some punishment, for what you had no clue, but as you became an integral part of the Eternals and learned from each of them, you’d come to see it as your own private gift - a way to develop untapped empathy and care for others. It made you the beautiful person you were.
Right now, however, Druig was testing your patience. The two of you had spent much time together during the early part of your stay in Babylon, and had grown close enough that Druig had started showboating in battles, leading the two of you to keep a tally of Deviants slain and owing each other various snacks after battle depending on who won. You were happy for the first time in a long, long time. You had even let yourself wonder if there might be more on the horizon between you. Over the last week, however, something had changed. Druig was quieter, withdrawn. You’d find him lost in his thoughts, and, most troublesome was the fact that he seemed to have lost his focus in battle. It was taking its toll.
It had started with slight delays, Druig got where he needed to be but always just a tad too late. At first, you were concerned, checking in on him even though he’d just brush you off. But then you’d begun to get frustrated with the brooding eternal. The battles were becoming more frequent, and as the demand on your abilities grew, so too it seemed did Druig’s wandering mind.
Drained and exhausted, you slumped against a wall as Ikaris blasted a Deviant ahead of you on your route to a wounded Kingo.
“Kingo, again?” you sighed as your hands pressed on his abdomen. You felt the deep gash slowly and agonisingly transferring to your own side.
He winced, “It’s not my fault, y/n, I swear-”
“They’re just targeting the weakest link.” Ikaris stated, matter-of-factly.
Kingo scoffed. “Okay, rude.”
Ikaris smirked before responding to Sersi’s summon.
Kingo turned to you, “But seriously, y/n, if Druig showed up every once and a while, maybe these damn Deviants would go down easier.”
You groaned in frustration at the same moment that Kingo sighed in relief. The injury had finished absorbing, but you were severely lightheaded and could barely move. Druig was going to get more than an earful when you got back.
“You’re an angel, y/n.” Kingo announced as he brushed your hair out of your face. “Seriously, I appreciate you so much.”
You grimaced, trying to hide the immense pain you were in. “T-thanks Kingo. Be careful out there, okay?”
He nodded before saluting you. “I won’t let you down, boss.”
“Rock, paper, scissors for the last twinkie?”
Druig brushed up against your shoulder playfully in the common space of the Domo, earning him a glare from you, and a chuckle out of Kingo.
“Woah,” Druig began, gesturing to your glare with his twinkie in hand, “Careful with that thing, you could seriously hurt someone!”
You scoffed and walked away, feeling Druig’s confused gaze following your every step. As you walked into your room, you could hear his voice echoing through the walls of the Domo. “Was it something I said?”
“You, my friend, are royally screwed.” Kingo replied, stifling a chuckle.
A week had passed since Kingo’s major injury, and you hadn’t spoken a single word to Druig. You knew that the silent treatment was probably a bit immature for an eternal being, but frankly, you couldn’t care less. Being unfocused in battle was one thing, but vanishing when your family needs you the most? That you couldn’t condone.
You knew he’d have an excuse, and part of you was desperate to hear it. You missed him. Of course you did. Your love for him only made your resentment more torturous.
Carefully positioning your still-recovering body against the wall in the meeting room, you watched as the other Eternals filed in with bated breath, wondering how much longer you could keep your secret.
Druig’s heart rate spiked as Ajak concluded their meeting, the blood coursing through his veins as he prepared for what he was about to do. He hated confrontation as much as the next person, although the next person was Ikaris...
“Alright, if no one has anything further they wish to present, you’re all dismissed.”
“Actually, Ajak,” Druig began, taking in the eye-rolls from his fellow Eternals as his voice filled the room. “I have something I’d like to discuss.”
Ajak’s patient, loving eyes wandered his face like a warning. “Yes, Druig?”
“Y/n’s been giving me the silent treatment lately, and I’d like to get to the bottom of it.”
“Oh here we go…” muttered Kingo as his eyes met Sprite’s, drawn to the impending drama like a car crash he couldn't tear his eyes from.
“It pains me to bring it up," Druig continued, glaring briefly at Kingo, "but seeing as the Deviants are getting more frequent, I figure we need to gel as a unit, and I don’t feel that we’re doing that.”
“HA,” A voice stirred from the shadowed corner of the meeting room. “You can talk.”
As you emerged from the shadows into the light of the meeting space, Druig took in your appearance - your heavy breathing, the dark bags under your bloodshot eyes, how pale you were. He instinctively moved towards you, resting a featherlight hand on your shoulder. His heart shattered as you winced and pulled away from his usually welcome touch.
“Y/n, you look like crap! What the hell happened?” Then, softly in your ear, “Are you okay?”
Druig felt you tremble the second before you shoved him away from you. “Of course I do! While you’ve been off doing Arishem knows what, we’ve been protecting the humans, and each other, from Deviants. Who, as you so kindly reminded us, are getting more dangerous and more frequent. This is the time that we can’t afford slip-ups, and you’re off with the fairies!”
Druig’s head fell in shame. You hated conflict, least of all with him, and he had driven you to this. He knew it was entirely his fault - he had been distracted lately, and you deserved to know why. “Y/n, I-”
“You’re careless! And you don’t think about anyone but yourself. We can’t afford that, Druig. We’re a team. A family. Act like it.”
He shrunk into himself, every trace of his usual swagger and confidence shattered like the fragile heart he held within. You were right. He had done this to you, left you exhausted and pained - a shell of yourself. The one person he swore he’d never hurt. He mustered the only words he could, hoping they were at least a bandage over your weak frame. At least enough until he could hold you again. “I’m sorry.”
With a deep sigh, he watched as you limped out of the room - step by pained step. Druig looked at the faces of the other Eternals, taking in their disappointment with panicked eyes before rushing out of the room to follow you.
“Y/n, wait!”
You groaned as he approached. Every noise you made splintered Druig’s heart a little more. He needed to make this right. Now.
“What, you couldn’t even let me have a badass exit? You’re unbelievable.” You mustered a chuckle to lighten the mood, but Druig saw how it pained you. How you shuddered with each breath.
“Oh my darlin’, you’re not okay.”
You raised an eyebrow, “Obviously, Druig. But great to know you weren’t even listening to my speech-”
“No, I can see it - something’s really wrong.” He lifted an arm above yours and studied your eyes carefully for permission before gently lifting your arm over his shoulder. “Let’s get you to lay down, we can talk when you’re comfortable.”
You winced as Druig lifted your arm, but hummed gratefully at his concern, lifting his hopes ever so slightly that things might just be okay. That he might win his best friend back, if he could muster the courage to be sincere enough.
Druig guided you to your room, and lay you gently on your bed, relishing in the comfortable sigh that emerged from your lips. You looked up at him, guarded but gentle. “Thank you, Druig.”
“You’re  welcome, my darlin’.” He softened as he took you in. Then, he eyed your bed. “Mind if I lay with you?”
You hesitated for a moment before nodding your permission.
The silence that followed was full of unspoken emotions. Of feelings too large for the room, but deep enough to create a chasm between you. Until your voice echoed through the dark.
“What’s been going on with you lately? You’re a formidable warrior, unrelenting in battle. What could possibly have you distracted enough that you’d ignore Kingo’s calls for aid?”
Druig sighed. “Look, y/n. It seems we’ve both been keeping secrets. I’ll tell you mine if you promise to tell me yours?”
You eyed his outstretched pinky. “I cannot believe you’re making me pinky swear like our inception was yesterday.”
He laughed gently, “You know you love it.”
Rolling your eyes, you took his pinky in yours. “Fine, pinky swear.”
While your pinkies were still entwined, Druig quickly added, “but you go first!” before letting go.
“You are an actual child, Druig.”
“And you have a secret to tell me…” he replied in a sing-song voice.
The mood was instantly quashed by your serious tone. “I…”
Carefully, Druig took your hand in his. “You know you can tell me anything, my darlin’, I’m not going anywhere.”
You took a deep breath as you looked up at him, meeting his concerned irises.
“My abilities come with a cost. A condition. I can’t heal anyone without taking on their pain first.” Druig searched your eyes, horrified by your words and connecting the dots as you continued, “So, each time I’ve healed the others in battle recently…”
“...you’ve had to take on their injuries yourself and heal from them.” He finished for you.
You nodded sombrely. “Each, and every one. Individually.”
“Oh, my beautiful, beautiful, y/n. Why didn’t you tell us?” Druig looked down sheepishly at your entwined hands before quietly adding, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Your voice was smaller than Druig had ever heard it as you replied, laced with the worries and insecurities you had held inside for an eternity. “I…I didn’t want to burden anyone, to let anyone down, and…I didn’t want you to look down on me for being the only Eternal whose powers are conditional. I was ashamed for a really long time.”
“I could never look down on you, y/n.” Druig began, turning to face you as he gently cupped your cheek and stared into your eyes. “I…I love you.”
Your eyes widened, “You…you do?”
He chuckled sadly, “Of course I do, you beautiful, oblivious fool. I’ve loved you forever.” Druig looked down bashfully before muttering under his breath. “That’s uh, that’s actually why I’ve been so distracted lately.”
“Wait, WHAT?”
“I know, I know, it’s so dumb. I just, I’ve been wanting to ask you if you would ever consider seeing me as more than just the brooding Eternal that boasts in battle for snacks because he’s too shy to ask the girl he loves to be his. I never thought you would ever see me as more and I…I would daydream about us in battle, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. About us. Then, last week I saw these flowers - daisies, I- I know they’re your favourite - when this Deviant shoved me to the ground deep in the forest and I thought they would be perfect for some grand romantic gesture and then I heard about Kingo and- I’m so sorry y/n, I ruined everything, I hurt you, and-”
Druig’s panicked rambling faded into nothingness the second he felt your lips graze his. Gentle, shy at first, and then more deeply, with a passion that he felt at his core. He moaned against your lips, “Y-y/n, I-”
“That is somehow equally the sweetest and dumbest thing I’ve ever heard come out of that beautiful-” kiss, “-beautiful-” kiss, “-mouth.”
With a lovestruck gaze, and an empty mind, Druig’s eyes moved from your lips to your eyes as he took in the sight before him. “Y-you forgive me?”
You smiled then, cupping his face gently before placing another tentative kiss on his waiting lips. “I’ll do you one better. I love you, you sweet, idiotic Eternal. I’d be honoured to be yours.”
The two of you lay there in contented silence, falling asleep entwined in each other's embrace, knowing that everything would be okay. Knowing that you had each other.  ...

a/n: hi lovely, i’m so very sorry for how long it’s taken me to get around to this request. it was my last druig request for AGES and I was just so nervous that if I wrote my last druig request I wouldn't get any more, so I held onto this baby like my life depended on it. that being said, I tweaked the request a little bit and I ADORED writing this. I hope that it’s everything that you wanted it to be, and please please feel free to request for baby boy again because I love writing for him SO MUCH 🤍
i’m so excited to get back into writing again, i finally finished my honours degree and I have so much creativity it’s not even funny - hoping to really smash out a bunch of your requests and create a writing schedule so i can keep it up because i miss and love writing for you all! thank you so much for your patience and support, you mean the world to me and i’m thankful for you every day

When we say goodbye Pt 3
Tumblr media
Pairings:  Druig X LightBender!Eternal!Reader (Fem)
Summary: They stop the emergence and figure out what life holds for them.
Warnings: MCU Violence, Blood, Fighting, I used Fem pronouns, Kissing I guess, stray from canon events.
Author's note: I once again got carried this is 6k words. I tried to make it really fluffy. Also sorry it is late i was sick.
Part one Part Two
Druig studied the gold details caved into the walls of the plane. They looked a lot like the ones on the ship they came here on. The place that was their home for thousands of years. There was a black sectional in front of a theater screen that was playing a movie with no sound on. It was over the top compared to Kingos she had spared no expense. He didn’t know where to sit for the long flight. Y/N had made it clear to Druig that she was still mad at him and was doing this for the others.
Y/N currently sat on the couch in the corner by a window. A pile of papers was splayed out in front of her with no clear organization to them. She held on to a burner phone pressing it hard to her ear.  A picture of three men opening a crate was clutched in her hand. She let out a loud sigh tossing the photo to the side, and shuffled through papers looking for one file that she swore she grabbed on her way out.  She spoke in a hushed whisper trying to keep Druig out of her business. However, he could make out a few words.
“Take care of it Loretta… I know but you are… Call him… Don’t make me beg.”
When she hung up, she narrowed her eyes a raised her brow at him.
“You just going to stand there? or sit?” Y/N snapped the phone in half and handed it to the stewardess on the plane. And went back to looking through the files. She still had work to do if the world survived the emergence.
Druig however didn’t move, he didn’t even blink, he just stared at her. He was at a loss for words.
“Staring is rude Dru. I know Ajak taught you that.” She spoke softly looking up from the file. He finally sat down leaving four feet of space between them.  Druig stared at the movie playing trying to distract himself from the silence they were in. His gaze flickered over to Y/N occasionally wanting to interrupt her work but didn’t know what to say.
Y/N could feel his eye drilling into the side of her head. She read the same paragraph over and over again the words blurred together. His presence was distracting to her and feeling his eyes on her was not helping. She couldn’t do the work she wanted, and she needed to find a way to get rid of spiderman.
“Y/N?”
“No. I told you I would help. We are not friends. You stay there in your corner. I will continue to act like you are not here.” Druig sighed. He was once again at a loss of how to approach the situation.
Y/N became annoyed. All she could hear was him breathing and swore he was making up words for the movie. He was mumbling about something, but she wasn’t sure what. She pushed the papers into a somewhat neat pile. Then tossed them in to the bag she brought, and stared out the window as the dark sky.
“Do you hate me that much?” Druig spoke in a whisper. His accent made it hard for her to make out the words.
Y/N exhaled rolling her eyes. In truth no she did not hate him. She wanted to viscerally hate him, but she never could bring herself to even dislike him even after all this time. He was a light in her life that she lost and missed the warmth he brought her. That safe and secure feeling she had when he was near. It was just easier to wallow in pity and pretend that she hated him. Fake it till you make it was her motto for the last two thousand years.
“I- I don’t know. Not to sound like a broken record but you hurt me. I thought I meant more to you than the others. Because as much as you deny it you cared about them. But you left me when I begged you to take me.” She paused, taking a deep breath and licked her lips before continuing.
“Discarded me like human waste. Was I just temporary entertainment to you?”
He took the opportunity to scoot closer causing Y/N to stare at him instead of the dark sky. He stopped about a foot away testing the waters. He wanted to touch her. To comfort her and make her see she was his world.
“Sunshine. You must know you were the only one I genuinely cared about, besides Makkari.”
“Then why did you leave me?” Y/N cried out. And repeated the question quieter with glassy eyes. Tears threatening to spill out.
“I am so sorry sunshine. I didn’t want to leave you, but I was trying to be selfless for once. You loved every single one of them more than I could comprehend. I couldn’t pull you away from that, and you end up regretting it.”
She scoffed and looked back out the window staring into the black void of the night sky.
“They all left me too. I had sprite on and off during that time. But those two thousand years were hell. You took a part of me I don’t think I will ever get back.”
Druig reached out and gently grasped her hand rubbing his thumb over her wrist stopping at her pulse. He wanted to fix this. It was never his intention to hurt her.
“Was it really that bad?” She pulled her hand out of his hold and set it in her lap.
“I watched the man I loved walk away from me, and then the man I fell in love with was murdered in front of me. We got six glorious years that was it. A blink to us eternals.”
Druig flinched. Loved? As in past tense? he thought. Scared of the answer she may give him. She kept looking out the window refusing to acknowledge him. Y/N pulled her feet up on the chair hugging her knees to her body trying to make herself look small. She wanted this conversation to end. Every emotion she had pushed away for centuries was surfacing.
“Loved?” Druig couldn’t resist, he had to know. Y/N pinched her lips frowning.
“That’s what you care about? You don’t have to worry I got over my unrequited love a while ago.”
“Do you honestly believe that I didn’t love you? Please look at me Y/N” His voice was raw, and she hesitated to do what he asked. Eventually giving in to the side that still cared for him.
They stared at each other. His blue eyes keeping eye contact with her.  Feeling overwhelmed with the emotions he held in his eyes she turned her head slightly. He moved with her to keep eye contact.
“You must know you are the only one I care about. Y/N, I never wanted anything more in my life. You are beautiful and my sunshine. Every time I called you sunshine that was me saying ‘I love you’. I was scared that I had these feelings and you deserved better.”
Y/N let a tear escape. She didn’t know what to say to him. Druig gave her everything she wanted to hear from him.
“I will apologize for the rest of our existence. I will beg on my knees for you to let me back in.”
Y/N giggled through the tears that fell. A sight she would have liked to see. He cupped her face wiping the drops away giving her a soft smile. Her skin was cold to his warm hands.
“I don’t know what to say.” She whispered. For once she was at a loss for words.
In response he laughed, his breath fanning over her face. The minty smell was overwhelming. She scooted closer to him, their faces a centimeter apart. Her eyes bore into his. She took a deep breath to stop the tears. His familiar smell filled her senses again. Oh how she had missed this familiarity, the feeling of home.
“You still smell good, and it is infuriating.” She mumbled.
He laughed again, his accent coming out a bit more. This was the person he knew. The one he loved.
“So do you.”
Y/N shook her head his hands falling one landing on her thigh. She laid her head on his shoulder suddenly very tired. Druig rested his cheek on the top of her hair, savoring her touch and made a silent promise to never let her go again.
Soft snores came from her as she slept soundly. He took in her tranquil state and traced a finger over her features softly to avoid waking her up.
----
“Why are you wearing a leather jacket in the desert?” Y/N teased as they tracked through the hot sandy hills of Iraq.
“Because I like it.” Druig shrugged, sending her a small smile.
The outline of the rest of the eternals grew the closer they got. Y/N picked up speed practically running to them. Druigs hand shot out resting on her lower back ready to catch her if she fell. The closer they got the faster she sprinted. After being apart from most of them for centuries she was ecstatic to see her family again. Mainly Thena and Sprite (but she would never tell anyone that). Sprite had been her best friend through the toughest of times.
“Y/N” Sprite called out when she saw her figure approaching.
Sprite ran toward her. Once close enough they enveloped each other in a bone crushing hug. Y/N clung on just a little longer. The last hug she had with her was at Giovanni’s funeral.
“I am sorry I pushed you away Sprite.”
“It’s ok, I get it. I was going to lecture you about finding yourself again plus you were in a dark place.” Sprite held an honest and forgiving tone as she let Y/N go.
Y/N bit chewed on her upper lip. She knew this kindness was more than she deserved after everything she had done, but it meant the world to her that Sprite still treated her the same.
“I am working things out, but I am here to assist.”
“May I cut in?” The blonde warrior asked from behind sprite.
Y/N squealed. Launching herself at the unsuspecting women.
Thena smiled and grabbed Y/N’s face. Her eyes traced over the girls’ features taking in every inch of the face she hadn’t seen in so long.  Y/N looked the same, just tired and a little sadder in the eyes. After a moment Thena picked Y/N up in a bear hug twirling them both around. Both of them let out a giggle. It was the happiest Y/N has felt in a long time.
“I have missed you.” The warrior spoke while setting Y/N back on her feet.
“As I you.”
“Sorry to interrupt this moment, but Druig can you get rid of the humans over here?” Phastos called out from where he stood.
Druig nodded and glanced back over at Y/N. She was still smiling at the two people in front of her, clearly elated. His heart skipped a beat at the sight.  In the time apart from her he often dreamed about that smile.  He nudged her shoulder hands in his jacket pockets and tilted his head towards everyone else. Y/N gave him the same smile and looped her arm through his walking with him. It felt like the good times when they would stroll around town before everyone was awake.
Y/N said a soft hello once they stopped near the others. Sersi gave her a light embrace muttering a sweet hello.
“This is Y/N she can manipulate light into anything she wants it to be.” Kingo held an animated tone while speaking directly to the camera Karun was holding. Karun panned over to the women who waved at him not entirely sure what was going on.
“Not anymore. I can manipulate shadows though.”  Y/N tried to sound carefree as she spoke it aloud to the group, but failed there was an edge to her tone.
“Oh really! I may need to change the script for my next movie then.”
“You are still making those?”
“Yes, the people love me.” Kingo said in a duh tone.
“Who is this man?”
“Oh, that is my assistant Karun.”
“And he hasn’t run for the hills?”
Kingo shot Y/N a glare offended. He didn’t have a chance to remark as the wind picked up as Phastos summoned the ship.  Sand blew towards them. Y/N was cursing the fact that she was the only one who didn’t bring sunglasses. She buried her face in Druigs back holding her breath. She let out a small gasp when Druig reached behind and set a hand on her hip.
----
The group of eternals crept through the ship at a snail’s pace. Kingo whispered into the video camera speaking ominous words that sent a chill through the group. He was acting as if there was going to be an axe murder hiding on board to kill them.
“What are you doing? You know you are creeping us out right?” Phastos spoke up.
As if on que a loud pop echoed through the hall. Causing Y/N to flinch at the loud sound. She let out a small yelp and clung on to Druigs side. He let out a soft chuckle before putting an arm around her shoulder pulling her in closer.
“Its ok,” He murmured in her ear. “Thena stepped on something.”
“You turned my lab into a sarcophagus?” Phastos cried out to Makkari using his right hand to gesture around at the things strewn about.
Makkari was perched on a throne with a plethora of books surrounding her. She smiled once the group came to a stop in front of her.  She asked them if it was time to go home.
Y/N’s face twisted into a grimace not ready to break her spirit. She too wished to leave this plant and start over.  Makkari frowned once she took in everyone’s sullen expressions.
“Who is going to tell her?” Y/N asked.  She did not want to be the one to crush her spirit. She may have been a cruel person to those that deserved it, but she couldn’t do it to her family.
“I will do it.” Kingo volunteered after a moment of no one talking.
Phastos got to work immediately wasting no time in finding a solution. While the rest started rummaging through the goods in the room.
Y/N was rummaging through a box of paintings next to where Sprite sat on the ground. The red head was reading an old scroll. It was in a language Y/N had long forgotten. She stumbled across a dusty painting that a king had once gifted her.
‘It would be such a shame no to capture such beauty.’ He had said to her while obnoxiously drunk at one of his parties. No matter what Y/N said he would not take no for an answer. Leading her to reluctantly agree to letting him commission a piece. She pulled it out of the crate to look at it better. The colors had faded throughout the centuries.
“That king wanted to marry you. He almost proposed too, but Druig got involved.” Sprite spoke up. Lowering the scroll she was reading from.  At the mention of his name Druig turned to face them. His jaw clenched when he took in what Y/N was holding.
“I merely saved him from heartbreak when she inevitably said no.” Druig called out. Y/N rolled her eyes setting the painting back to its proper place.
Y/N narrowed her eyes as she watched Druig pick up her old journal from a pile in the corner of the room. Before he could open it she took off towards him. It was full of so many things that she didn’t want anyone to read.
“Give it to me.”  Y/N panted once in front of him.
“Oh, you want this” He held the book above his head with a smirk.
Y/N huffed out and jumped up trying to get it. On the third try her hands touched the leather. She had half the mind to tackle him, but she knew he wouldn’t budge.  Instead, Y/N got on a table to make herself taller.
“Yes, now please give it to me, or I will stab you.” The threat fell on deaf ears, as Druig lifted her from the table setting her back on the ground. He rested his forehead to hers smiling down at her angry look. He held the journal out to the side still just out of her grasp.
“What’s in here? Your dirty thoughts?”
“No.” Y/N blushed answering way too quickly. A heat coursing through her face.
Druig cackled, bringing everyone’s attention to the two for a second.  He handed her the brown leather book tapping her nose with it before walking away.
Y/N made a mental note to burn the book as soon as possible while hiding it under a pile of miscellaneous items. On the other end of the table was an old talisman Ajak had loved and wore it often. Y/N picked it up her heart breaking at the realization she would never see the women again. The air around her became stale as she tried to steady her beathing. Losing all the joy she had moments ago.
“Now where did you end up finding the Emerald tablet at Makkari?” Druig asked not too far from where Y/N stood lost in her thoughts.
Y/N grinned and turned to them. She had found it at an underground black-market auction. Where she bought it for more money than she cared to admit. A trusted friend of hers had packed it and delivered it personally to Makkari. With a note apologizing for ever doubting that it was real. It was her penance for making fun of her friend looking for something that sounded insane.
‘After all this time I found it. Sorry for doubting you- Love Y/N/N.’
Makkari pointed at Y/N. Signing out the story to Druig with a small grin on her lips.  It was a fond memory of hers when the mysterious package showed up.
Y/N plucked the tablet from Druigs’ unsuspecting hands. Her fingers brushed over the carvings on the stone. When she bought it she had barley looked at before sending it off. There was a lot to do, and the CIA had been on their way to her base in California. Druig watched as she bit down on her bottom lip furrowing her eyebrows at the green rock.
‘You finally admit you love her?’ Makkari signed to him with a knowing smile.
‘Shut up’ he signed back.
“I found a way to connect us all” Phastos called out pulling everyone back to him.
The plan was insane. Even if it did work who knew what the repercussions would be.
The group began to do what they do best and bicker with one another.  It was irksome to Y/N that they were here to save the humans and they still were all in disagreement. She rolled her eyes tuning out the yelling. Eventually they would calm down and they could try to solve the plot holes in the plan.
“We could be responsible for billions of lives not being created in the universe. Boss am I right?” Kingo cried out his words seemed to confuse Ikaris.
“Say something Ikaris! Y/N?” Sprite spoke out. A quite tension filling  the room as they all stared one another down.
“I don’t care what we do one way or another.” Y/N spoke. “We run a risk no matter what. Arishem will be mad at us.”
Ikiaris suddenly ran out of the room clearly shaken. Y/N knew that look on his face he was guilty of something she wasn’t sure what it was, but he carried a look of guilt in his eyes.
----
Y/N sat on a table watching Phastos work in awe. His fingers were incased in gold circles making rings on his fingers as he worked. He was rushing to find the answers and find some way to help Druig put the celestial to sleep.  If the situation wasn’t so life or death it would have been a beautiful thing to watch.
“I am close to figuring it out.”  Phastos glanced up at Ikaris who strolled into the room. The man glanced at everyone in the room before clenching his jaw and swallowed. His eye shifted to a gold color.
“Watch out!” Kingo hollered.
Y/N body tackled Phastos to the ground not caring if she got hit in the process. They needed him more than anything.
Sersi booked it into the room, joining the chaos that was quickly erupting.
“He lied to us he knew about the emergence.”  Sersi spoke standing in front of Phastos. Protecting him from Ikaris.
“No.” Kingo said in disbelief. Voicing everyone’s thoughts.
“Ajak told me everything when we left Babylon.”
“If Ajak wanted you to take her place, then why did she choose me?” Sersi swallowed. Deep down she knew the answer and was ready to face it. It was all Y/N needed to know that he did something unspeakable it connected all the dots.
“What have you done?” Sersi whispered when Ikaris made no move to answer her.
“He killed her.” Druig and Y/N said at the same time.
The group went silent.
“You are a pathetic murderer.”  Y/N snarled.
It was hypocritical of her to say she knew that, but he killed family. Someone innocent. One of the only family members they had.
“That’s rich coming from you. How many people have you killed?” Ikaris softly spoke his tone apathetic towards her.
Y/N Flinched taking a step toward him. She expected that answer honestly but wasn’t ready for her family’s judgement. Even coming from someone as pathetic as Ikaris. She understood why Druig hated him so much.
“I am not below taking one of a douche canouche.”
With in a blink there was a terrible troll like monster behind the smug man in blue. One twitch of her pinky and it would attack. A wicked smile crossed her lips. She would cross a line to redeem Ajak any day.
“Y/N” Druig called out. He took slow long strides to where she stood.
“Why?” Sersi managed to ask through her tears.
“I had to.”
Y/N screamed out ready to lunge at him. That was a pathetic answer; had to do it? She didn’t know when she grabbed one of her knives, but it was gripped tightly in a way that was useless. It wouldn’t do her any good in a fight against him anyway, but she didn’t care. She was willing to try. Druig wrapped an arm around her waist stopping her movements.
“Stop its not worth it.” He whispered to her. Trying to pull her back in.
This was not a fight they needed now. There was an emergence to stop.
“You will not succeed against me. I will kill everyone of you if I have to.” Those were Ikaris’s last words before he started to walk out.
“Wait. I am going with you.” Sprite finally spoke.
“Sprite no.” Y/N wanted to say more but in a blink of the eye they disappeared.
----
Sersi, makkari, Druig and Y/N started down the volcano that smoke was emerging out of. It was ready to blow at any moment.
“It’s time” Sersi said once it rumbled.
Before Druig could do anything, Ikaris was there knocking him over.
“Ikaris” Y/N warned the man.
“I should have done this five centuries ago” Ikaris spit out ignoring the yells, while pulling Druig up by the throat.
“Druig.” Y/N called out as ikrais flew off with him. Makkari screamed.
They watched as Ikaris threw Druig down. Both of them feeling utterly helpless in the moment. Then watched him attack the ship bringing it down. It was going to crash on them if they didn’t move. Makkari fast as always pulled everyone out of the way from the ship coming down.
“Druigs gone now its over.” Ikaris said from above them.
No, no, this cannot be happening. He cannot be dead. Y/N’ thoughts paced. Their plan was quickly falling apart. She went through rapid emotions before settling on anger. If Makkari hadn’t run off with him she would have attacked.  Rage gripped her heart. She wanted to hurt the man for taking so much from them.
The volcano rumbled again before erupting, setting off a minor earthquake. The environment around them began to change quickly.
“I have to get closer to Tiamut. Distract Ikaris” Sersi begged the group.
“My pleasure.” Y/N spoke mincingly in a ready to attack position.
They all took a chance at stopping him from doing killing anyone else.  Phastos shot pierced the air missing the man who seemed to be unstoppable. Thena fierce and unstoppable unleashed her weapons each strike doing some damage.
Y/N felt like a bystander desperate to do something, anything. But there were not enough dark patches for her to pull from. Her heart began to thunder against her chest when she realized how powerless she was.
“Y/N use the light.” Thena called out to her from chaos on the other side of the beach.
“I don’t think I can.”  Y/N confessed her fingers trembling.
“Try!” The blonde women commanded.
Y/N obeyed the warrior and reached out to the light trying to form anything. Light responded forming a fragile rope of gold it whipped out. As quickly as she had formed it dissipated in to the wind.
She groaned, growing frustrated, and tried again. Shadows merged with the light.  Shadowy golden monsters materialized scattering across the beach. Thena let out a whistle at the unexpected power of the girl.
Emerging from the depths of the ocean a deviant appeared in its grotesque form capturing every eye on the beach. Y/N hurled every monster in her arsenal at the creature. It was a useless attempt. Every time her monster got a cut or hit in the deviant mended itself unbothered. He managed to take out Y/N’s army quickly.
It lunged for Ikaris, hungry for blood. It was ready to attack him, and consume his powers.  Phastos, however, saved him from an untimely fate.
“Why are we helping him?” Thena asked and Y/N wanted to know the answer as well.
“We can’t let him absorb our powers.” Phastos stayed calm. Ready to fight back.
Thena managed to drag the creature’s attention to the cave across the way. They all called out trying to stop her before Ikaris attacked again. This time Y/N held him down with ropes of black. The flying man was now grounded in front of her.
“Don’t do this Y/N.”
“See Ikaris you took all I had left. Which means I have no will to live, and that right there makes me dangerous.”
Ikaris struggled aging the bounds, but the more he fought the harder the hold she had on him became. The man screamed out in anguish trying to shoot lasers at the girl. They missed and the Shadows covered his eyes blinding him temporarily. Y/N let out a giggle this was rich she had the upper hand, and she was going to take advantage of it.  He would have a fate worse then the man who had betrayed her 56 hours ago.
“Guys the world is literally starting to collapse.” Phastos turned her attention to the damage happening around them.
Tiamut began to emerge from the pits of the earth. Y/N wasn’t sure what she expected but the thing was massive.  They were losing the fight and it started to scare her a little. They could die and it would have all been for not. Her powers lessened their hold on Ikaris, and he took the moment to escape.
But before he could do anything the celestial began to turn white. Sersi was freezing it, and Ikaris took off angrier than ever.
Y/N laid sprawled out on the beach closing her eyes. Her eyelids were heavy and unable to stay open. Exhaustion clung to her limbs, she was ready to sink in to oblivion and forget that Druig once again slipped through her finger. A single tear escaped trailing down her cheek landing in the grains of sand. She squeezed her eyes tight refusing to feel the pain. Heartbreak had followed her for years and she didn’t want to feel it anymore. Yearned to cut the ties with that pain.
“You know Sunshine, I thought you would be a little more upset.”  Druigs voice cut out through her haze. The accent wasn’t as thick as usual there was a softer edge to it.
“Another hallucination great.” She muttered out bitterly. “How long will these ones-“
“Y/N look at me please. I am here. I wont ever leave you again.”
She cracked an eye open and he was there looking down at her.  A smug smile on his face and delightfully real. She shot her feet and put a hand on his chest. One of his hands came up and held it there anchoring her hold.
“I thought you left me again.” It was a barley audible whisper. As fragile as glass.
“Never my beautiful beautiful sunshine”
“Hug me please” She begged him, and she never begged a vulnerability she rarely displayed.
Druig didn’t make her ask twice. He pulled her body to him his arms cocooning her to him. His face nestled in the crook of her neck, and she played with the hair at the nape of his neck.  They closed their eyes taking in the warmth of the hug.
“You are alive.” She murmured aginst his shoulder. “I forgive you. You are alive - don’t leave me again.”
“Never. I promise” His words tickled her neck.
----
It was a warm afternoon at Ajaks house. Y/N sat on the porch staring out at the grassy field, avoiding the group inside. They were making plans for their future, and she was more lost than ever. Unsure of what to do. Loretta was officially in charge of the empire she had built. Y/N told her exactly how to shake the spiderman and wished her all the luck.
Y/N mindlessly created butterflies letting them fly away to eventually disappear. Part of her wanted to just disappear and do nothing for at least fifty years. Vacation in the Poconos and maybe Greece.
“Ahh there you are sunshine.”
Druig was standing behind her. Hands fisted in his coat pocket. He watched a butterfly fly away before sitting next to her. His blue eyes traced her face trying to figure out what she was feeling.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know what I am going to do now. I gave Loretta the business, and now I have nowhere to call home or go.”
She was anxious and afraid, her heart beating against her ribs. Fear wound its claws through her thoughts. Even though he was standing there and promised to never leave she couldn’t help but wonder if he would abandon her again.
“I was thinking about going with Thena. Join us in finding other Eternals, it will be an adventure. If you don’t want to though I will follow you wherever you go. I never want to be parted from you again. We can make a life anywhere you want.”
Y/N leaned into him laying her head on his shoulder whispering an ok. Druig with a gentle finger under her chin lifted her face to meet his gaze.
“Yeah?” a smirk splayed on his lips.
“Yes.”
With those words Druig picked Y/N up and moved her to his lap. Her knees finding their place on either side of his hips.  His large hand cradling the the back of her neck drawing her face down to his. Her breath mingling with his. He nudges her nose with his own. Hesitation dances in his eyes, a delicate balance between longing and fear, as he debated on crossing the line he has yearned to cross throughout his entire existence.
“Dru.” She whispered her tone fragile a secret hidden in her words.
He hums in response.
“I love you.” She confessed.
And in that suspended moment, the world ceased to exist. His lips met hers like a man starved. It was needy and rushed, but it was perfect.  His kiss was a wild storm, a tempest that promised her forever. She melted into him pushing her body closer to his, her body seeking solace in him. Her soul was home in his arms. His hand, once firm on her neck, now cradled her face. Fingers slowly threading through her hair. She whimpered, lost in the sensation—the taste of him.
He smiled against her lips at the sound and broke away. Druig kissed down her jaw, a trail of fire left behind each one.  Each touch was a vow etched into her skin. And as she caught her breath, she knew: this kiss was the beginning of their forever.
She pulled him back giving him a peck. He groaned wanting more after finally knowing what it was like to have her.
“Dru.”
He hummed again in response, trying to kiss her, but she shook her head. The laugh he missed escaping her.
“Thank you for not hating me and what I did.”
“My beautiful, beautiful sunshine, never. I love you. I always have.”
She let him kiss her again. Ready for their next chapter.

I Am You - Eternals Fanfic
Synopsis: 1,000 years after the Eternals split off, Deviants defeated, the unfortunate family comes back together to save humanity from its biggest threat. But they can't do that without talking, and if old rivalries still stand, that might be a little hard.
[This might be a two-parter or more] [Use of y/n, reader is nonbinary]
Let's GO!
"I will never leave you"
It had been about 500 years since Sprite had stopped believing those 5 words. And another 500 years on top of that since she'd last seen the person, Eternal, rather, who'd spoken them. But now she was following Ikaris and Sersi through a crowded Osaka airport towards the taxi port and bus terminal, trying to find the exact person who'd made that flaky promise - Y/N. "They're not gonna be here," Ikaris growled, "Why can't we just go get Kingo? He's agreeable at least."
"We need Y/N," Sersi reminded the Eternal of Flight, "Besides, if there's anyone who can get through to Druig, it's them."
"You just don't like that she's got more powers than you," Sprite teased, but secretly she was a little nervous. It hadn't just been a century since she'd last seen Y/N, it had been a century since Y/N told her where they were going to disappear off too. They'd specifically instructed her not to tell anyone, and now she'd broken that promise. "Uhh, hello, we need to get to Hyogo..?" Ikaris tried asking a taxi driver in english. Sersi covered for him with google translate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An hour and 45 minutes later, they had arrived in Hyogo prefecture. Sprite looked around nervously. "There isn't enough ... EARTH for this to be where the fearsome Eternal of nature lives!" Ikaris mocked, rolling his eyes as he got out of the taxi.
"IKARIS!" Sersi scolded.
They kept walking. Sprite led them through the small city to a modest house near the school down the road. Ikaris knocked sharply. Sprite knew it was wrong to lead him and Sersi to Y/N, but they really needed to get their family back together, or else everyone on Earth was going to die. After a moment, the door opened enough to see Y/N's silvery-blue hair surrounding their features, then it promptly shut again. Ikaris stuck a foot in the door and heaved it open despite Y/N's hearty attempts to close it using their nature-given strength. They shot him a dirty look as he shoved his way into their house. Sprite pushed past Sersi and wrapper her arms around the shocked and annoyed Y/N, gripping their waist tightly. A second later, Y/N was returning the hug, gripping the shorter Eternal's hair in their fingers and pulling her close. "We need to talk," Sersi said as she too stepped into the room, breaking off the hug.
Y/N rolled their eyes. "We," they indicated between themself, Sersi and Ikaris with a finger, "Don't have anything to talk about. Please leave."
Sprite pulled Y/N down to eye height and murmured, "I'm really sorry I had to bring both of them, believe me, but we really need you. Everything's changed, Deviants are back, and we need to save the world again. Please help us."
Y/N breathed for a moment, contemplating. Then they nodded. "Make yourselves at home, I guess," they said finally, "I'll..uhh, I'll make tea."
"I'll help!" Sprite offered, eager to get away from the two ex-lovers and to spend more time with Y/N, who had always been her favourite.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The kitchen was silent except for the beeping of the oven and hiss of the kettle. Sprite didn't know what to say, or how to act around her sibling. They seemed so much more grown up than everyone else, especially Sersi. Maybe being apart had changed them. "Y/N... Ajak is dead," she said, internally cringing at the suddenness of the reveal.
Y/N didn't say anything. Then they did. "And the deviants are back and the emergence is happening," they added, finishing Sprite's thought, "I know. The question is, what are we doing about it?"
They glanced at Sprite, who was tearing up a little. "I'm sorry, I know it's hard for you. I wasn't as close to Ajak as the rest of you, that's all," they murmured, wrapping Sprite in a side hug.
The two Eternals stood like that, staring out the window into Y/N's small garden and watching the world go by together. Then the tea kettle started whistling and they were shocked back into the world. "We'd better get back to the two star-crossed lovers, hadn't we?" Y/N teased, nudging Sprite's shoulder, "I'll take the tea, you grab the cookies."
They walked back in to the dining room with the trays. "Break time's over lovebirds~" Sprite crowed, clanging the cookie platter down on the table and sitting loudly next to Ikaris. Y/N casually placed the four cups in front of the others sitting at the table like the leader of a parent's club setting up for a meeting, then took their own place. "So," Sersi started awkwardly, "The-world's-about-to-end-and-we-need-to-save-it-from-being-destroyed-in-the-emergence."
"And Ajak is dead," Ikaris added.
Y/N just stared at the two of them. Sprite couldn't help glancing in between Ikaris and Y/N like a child between fighting parents, and waited for someone to speak. "..I know," Y/N said finally, "What I was going to say was - how do we stop the birth of a celestial?"
Awkward laughter from Sersi faded into silence. "Ah... That's what we don't know. We were thinking maybe Druig could put the celestial to sleep, or Phastos could think of something," she murmured, pushing a useless strand of hair behind her ear.
"So why do you need me?"
"We need all of us to come up with a solution, Y/N!" Ikaris man-splained, "And Sprite said you were closer than Kingo."
"To Britain? Definitely not. To sanity, maybe," Y/N replied sassily, "But I would like to see Makkari or Kingo again. It's been too long since I spoke some decent slang. And, I can feel you wishing you were anywhere but here right now."
They pointed right at Ikaris' chest, causing everyone else to turn to them. "You can sense emotion?" Sprite asked incredulously, "Since when?"
"I can't. I can just tell cos the air soured around him."
Dull silence. Then Sersi pushed out from the table. She cleared her throat, dusted imaginary crumbs from her pants, and pushed her plate closer to the cookie platter. "Well, we'd better get going if we want to have saved the world this time next week."

Druig was never one for holidays. He wasn’t a scrooge, per se, but, as an Eternal, the seasons came and went so quickly. Years were mere blinks to a being who was thousands of years old. However, the look on your face as you put the ornaments on the tree made something stir around his heart, he had to admit.
He was sipping cocoa from a mug with a snowman on it, one from your vast collection. Kingo was in the kitchen, mixing up beverages, which was why he sensed a bit of liquor in the chocolatey beverage. It was still good, obviously, but he definitely blamed that for the rosy hue his cheeks had taken on.
Definitely not the cute little reindeer antlers you were wearing. Definitely not the way your laughter sounded from across the room.
All of the Eternals were there. A rare feat, but with the danger defeated, for now at least, it was cause for celebration, a time to be with family. It was your house you were all celebrating in, a large place tucked away in Northern Michigan, which, at this time of year, was absolutely covered in a thick layer of snow, more and more fluffy flakes coming down as the moments passed.
You spent your time as a writer. One of the most prolific of your time, the reviews said. But then again, you did have a thousand year head start on the rest of them.
Druig would never admit to it, but he had read them. All of them, every single one. He’d borrow them from libraries, read excerpts in bookstores, but Makkari had a collection of them, too. She was your most loyal beta reader. Therefore, when one went missing, she always had a pretty decent suspicion of who the culprit was.
And he wasn’t positive, but he was pretty sure most of your love interests shared a certain resemblance with…well, him. He didn’t like the way it stirred around in his chest, the way it made him feel so warm and…hopeful. But then again, he’d never asked you what you felt.
“(Y/N), where are your Christmas records?” Phastos asked, standing over with his husband, Ben, as they dug through a crate of records.
“Oh! I forgot to bring them down, I think. I’ll go grab them. I needed to get the topper anyway.” You stepped down from your stepladder and handed the ornament in your hand to Sprite, who was sitting on the floor under the tree, shaking gifts. Typical.
Druig watched as you left, eyes glued to you. Which was why he didn’t notice when Sersi had joined him, standing right beside him.
He gasped, mug rattled, but not to the point that he spilled any on his sweater. He cursed and looked over at her. “What?”
“You look rather festive, Druig. I thought you didn’t care for holidays.”
“I thought so too…” He muttered into his mug, taking a long sip.
“Right. Well, I think I saw some mistletoe in that box of decorations. I can put it up if you’d like?” She asked, that glimmer in her eyes that she got when she wanted to meddle.
Druig thought on it, as he heard your footsteps coming back down the stairs. He met her eyes and that was all that was needed. She nodded and set across the room, plucking it out of the box, along with a length of fishing line.
“I found it! The Muppets and John Denver!” You said excitedly, presenting another crate of records, this one all Christmas. “And some other stuff.”
“May I?” Phastos asked.
“Yeah, of course.” You handed them over and walked back over to the tub of ornaments, searching for a very special one. It was a large mug of cocoa with eleven marshmallows in it, each one etched with the name of an Eternal. You smiled softly and tucked it into the branches of your artificial tree, curling the fake pine to support its weight.
“Where did you find one with so many slots?” Druig found himself asking as he crossed the room to stand behind you.
“Had it custom made.” You replied, turning to face him.
“It’s beautiful, (Y/N).” Ajak complimented warmly from her seat by the fire.
“Thanks. Thought we needed something like that.”
“What are these?” Sprite asked, digging through the other box and pulling out a stocking with Thena’s name embroidered on it.
“Stockings.”
“You had those made, too?” Ajak asked, getting up to see for herself.
“Well, I did them. The embroidery, at least.” You admitted with a shrug, motioning to the hooks under the mantle. “We can put them up, if you want.”
Makkari nodded and grabbed the stockings, putting them all in one clean row in a blur of red and green. She stood next to Druig, elbowing him and tilting her head towards his stocking, which she’d put on the end.
Right next to yours.
He nearly choked on his cocoa. So did everyone know, then? Sersi, Makkari, who else? Kingo, no doubt.
“You alright there, Druig? Looking flushed.” Ikaris jabbed, that wicked gleam in his eyes.
Alright, then, yeah, it was everyone. Everyone but you, it seemed.
It was as if a stormcloud manifested above his head. He shook his head and stalked off towards the kitchen. He didn’t know much, but he did know a cookie would make him feel better. Snacks always seemed to. And there was no shortage of them, especially now, when you and Gilgamesh had baked nearly twelve dozen batches of them. Gingerbread, snickerdoodle, sugar cookies shaped like trees, chocolate chip, oatmeal no-bakes.
He reached for a sprinkle-covered tree and bit off the tip of it, the frosting sweet. The oven started beeping and you rushed in, arming yourself with an oven mitt before reaching in for what he assumed must be one of the last trays. Oatmeal raisin, it looked like.
“Do you need any help?” He asked, staring as you straightened up and brushed the hair out of your face.
“Oh! Thank you, Druig. I’m all set, though. Are they good?”
“Are what—” He looked down at the half-eaten tree in his hand. “Oh, yeah. They’re great.”
“Awesome.” You grinned. “New frosting recipe.”
“Well it’s perfect, whatever it is.” He leaned against the counter, that boyish smirk on his face. He wasn’t sure what came over him, then, but he had to get it out. “It’s great, by the way. That new book of yours.”
“You read it?”
“I read all of your books.” He confessed. “I think this one’s your best.”
Your heart raced as you met his eyes. Surely he knew, right? He had to. That you’d been writing about him for centuries. When he’d left all those years ago, hundreds of years ago, he’d taken a piece of your heart with him, a piece you’d only found in fiction, it seemed.
“Thank you. It…it means a lot to hear you say that.”
“Can’t wait for your next one.” He winked, plucking up a second cookie and leaving the kitchen before his tongue got him in any more trouble than it already had.
***
Later in the night, when almost everyone had gone to sleep, you were up, wrapping presents in front of the fireplace, folding the paper neatly, complete with name tags and perfect little bows.
You’d switched records. It was an older one, the Rat Pack.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas…Let your heart be light…
The words were smooth, glided right out of the speaker. Snow was still coming down in droves. It was good you had nowhere to go, otherwise you’d be snowed in. Well, if your family didn’t have every superpower known to man, you would be anyway. You were glad they were there.
You were glad they were home.
“Can’t sleep?” Druig’s voice startled you from your reverie and you turned around, grateful his present was already wrapped and under the tree.
“Not until I get these wrapped.” You told him.
“Christ, you really do go all out, don’t you?” He chuckled, crossing the room and sitting on the floor beside you, yet another cookie in his hand.
“I think I’d lose my mind if I didn’t. Keeps me…in synch. The routine of a year, you know?”
“Mmm.” He hummed, nodding, face alight in the warm oranges of the flames. “I didn’t see it that way until…recently.”
“Until right now?”
“Yeah, something like that.” He chuckled, watching as you carefully wrapped the last one, taping every edge perfectly and putting a tag on top, printing Sprite’s name with a pen. “What’d you get her?”
“You’ll have to find out tomorrow morning.” You told him, shifting to slide it under the tree with the others. “What did you get her?”
“It’s a surprise.” He grinned as you settled in next to him.
“Is it a surprise to you, too?”
He gasped, offended. “I got presents for everyone!”
“I believe you.”
“Sure you do.” He shook his head, laughing softly. “Say, ehm, (Y/N), I’ve been wondering…”
“Mistletoe!” You gasped, staring straight up at the ceiling where, sure enough, a string of mistletoe hung, glittering in the low light. “Who put that up?”
“Well I’ll be…” He breathed, staring up at it, too, heart racing faster than it had in any battle. “What…do you suppose we do about that?”
“I have a few ideas.” You slowly brought your gaze down, meeting his eyes.
He may have been the telepath, but you could tell the only thing on his mind was you as he leaned in, thick eyelashes fluttering shut as his lips met yours, pink and plush and warm. You kissed back, not leaving a single doubt in his mind that you wanted this, wanted him. Your hand rose to his flushed cheek, holding him close as his arm wound around your waist.
The grandfather clock struck midnight, and he pulled away to rest his forehead on yours, noses flush, eyes on you, glimmering with a million words unspoken. He did have a few, though. “Merry Christmas, (Y/N).”
“Merry Christmas, Druig.”

Unrelenting. The deviants continued in waves, the swells of their army growing as they passed over the grassy hill — the soil churned up under their talons.
At the bottom of the hill, past you, stood a village already half torn apart from the monsters. It awaited its fate against the gnawing fangs currently bared toward you and the other Eternals fighting to hold them back.
And as your power coursed through your veins and muscles, down into your marrow — searing fire erupting from your palms into a wall to keep the deviants contained — you thought of your team.
Your eyes had long been squeezed shut as you held the army back, the swirling flames rising high into the smoky air. The creases between your brows only fueled the pounding in your head, making images stark behind your eyelids. Images shimmering with the aching memories of the only family you’d known splitting apart  — splintering like your mind under the weight of your straining power.
Most of your team had been apart for hundreds of years, separated by oceans and long-worn arguments that came to a bitter end. Few saw eye to eye when things became tense, and while you had tried to see each of them occasionally, the visits felt too short and all too quiet without the others. Like visiting your childhood home once you’ve moved out — you once belonged there, but the decorations felt different, the walls long bare of your voice.
And yet.
When you were called together once again, they’d come back to fight side by side, as if none of that lonely time had passed — or had left an ugly scar on your memories.
You knew that they’d probably go their separate ways again after it all finished, happier apart, but for now, you relished in it all. The whipping of wind around your body as Makkari ran past and the sound of Kingo’s sarcastic remarks as he shot lasers past you. Even as your arms began to shake, exhaustion settling into your limbs, you were glad to be by them once more.
Strengthen the left side. Put that extra nap you took to good use.
A hint of a smile graced your face as the lilting voice of your husband Druig filled your head. He fought somewhere out of view to your right as you sent more fire out left, keeping the wall of flames steady.
Each hit the deviants sent against it reverberated back into your body, chattering your teeth against each other. But the others were attacking from other sides, thinning out the army — all to give Phastos time to build something from nothing like he always did.
Thousands of years ago, your team handled the monsters with little effort, but there were so many concentrated here — and they weren’t going down as easily. So Phastos’ expert hands crafted an explosive so strong that it’d reduce them to nothing, but they had to stay contained in one area for it to work.
So you kept them back using the only way you knew how. After all this time with your abilities, you’d learned to welcome the heat breathing from your palms — to settle into the warmth it curled around your body.
The sweat, the exhaustion, the pure power rocking from you in waves matched your rapid heartbeat — it all meant that you were alive. But as the deviants beat against your flames with no pause or mercy, your knees shaking and bones aching, it felt like you were dying. Each breath felt too shallow, the strength of the monsters too strong.
You heard their growls aimed at you — could feel their anger against your fire. As you forced an eye open, blinking away drops of sweat, you couldn’t see any of your teammates for a moment, and your heart jolted.
A brief thought passed your mind, worrying whether they had abandoned you — had left you like discarded remnants of food to be feasted on by these monsters. But just as you’d slipped down onto one knee, your leg giving out, you saw Gilgamesh and Sprite fighting stray deviants back from the darkening corners of your vision.
As a groan ached to leave your mouth, you only hoped Phastos would finish soon enough.
But your flames began to flicker, leaving holes in the wall for the deviants to slip through. You caught a flash of light as Thena tried fighting some, but there were dozens all waiting for this exact moment. Even with the whole team together, the fight had begun to shift.
As they broke past the smoldering fire, you dropped to the ground, the dry grass biting into your palms. Ragged breaths ached through your lungs, scratching along the inside of you with each inhale. Your vision began to blur, your head spinning as you struggled to stand back up.
Even in this state, you saw a deviant stalking toward Phastos. Glancing around, you found everyone else occupied and overwhelmed — so you raised your shaky palm.
But your powers sputtered, spent from trying to hold so many back. Your throat, so painfully dry, cracked as you tried to scream to get his attention. Nothing came out but a whimper.
Still, you stumbled toward him with your body burning too hot, your steps much too slow to make it there in time. Your legs kept moving.
Come on, I know you’ve got more in you.
The voice came from inside your head, from your mind that begged you to rest. But it was Druig again. Each word sounded strained as he fought a deviant much too far away to get here in time.
He needs you. Just a little more, sweetheart. Then you can rest.
Please.
His last plea to you trickled through your brain, dripping down your spine and out to your fingers. You thought of Gilgamesh wrapping Thena in his arms the way he did, smiles etched onto their faces. You thought of Makkari’s gifts, all of them stolen relics she “found” along the way. You remembered the weddings, the dances, the births, and the funerals you attended of all the humans you’d come to love along your long lives.
And you quickened your steps as you felt the gentle caress of Druig’s fingers brushing along the apple of your cheek — as kind as the way he whispered into your mind.
Your power began to surge again, your feet pushing your body forward to help your team. But as you commanded pure fire to burn from your hands, the deviant lunged at Phastos.
The world shifted, your steps stuttering, as you watched its long teeth sink into Phastos’ body.
Only a weak grunt left his lips as blood began to pool along his shoulder. Watching his face twist, you sprinted to him with panic closing around your throat. The unforgiving exhaustion and screaming in your mind fell away, leaving just an ache in your chest as hollow as Phastsos’ ragged breaths.
He pushed the deviant away, falling to his knees from the monster’s bloody maw. His red-stained fingers continued working on the explosive device, even as Makkari guided him away from the fight.
In that instant, with painful fire burning beneath your skin, you knew you’d be no help to healing Phastos. Your vision instead tunneled onto the deviant responsible.
White-hot rage clouded your senses as you leapt onto it, grabbing its head with a furious grip. Fire pulsed through your body, its power searing new images behind your eyelids.
The monster roared beneath you as you saw Druig leaving the group all those years ago, the pain of his helplessness worn on his sleeve. The broken look on Thena’s face flashed as bright as the fire exploding from you. An image of you, sat alone in your home, alone, while Druig was away — your family nowhere near.
And you wouldn’t let that happen again, not because of these monsters.
Your teeth clenched so hard against each other you thought they might shatter. On the edges of your awareness, you felt your knees hit scorched earth.
Even though it was gone, burnt beneath your body, you stood up again while more deviants came at you. Without thinking, your hand raised to them, unrelenting as you created another wall to protect your team. It didn’t just keep them back, it burned them into nothingness. Even with shaking arms, you refused to give them an inch.
You thought hearing Phastos completing the device would be a sigh of relief — a soft voice telling you that you’d done enough. But as a wave of air pushed past you, the rush of Makkari speeding to the center of the deviants, you found no solace.
Even when the explosion flashed bright and shook the ground seconds later, sending you back down to your hands and knees, your rage refused to die out.
You shielded your eyes, finding many of the deviants evaporated into dust. But the few that were far enough away from the explosion continued their fight. Their dark eyes and unforgiving claws just reminded you of how many they’d hurt
Their agonized screams only made your mind want to keep going.
Stop. We’ve got the rest. You need to stop.
You didn’t. Couldn’t. Wouldn’t? Who knew. You could only see the reds and oranges dance around one another, seeking  revenge where it was needed.
The power pulled and pulled at you, draining from your veins until it threatened to smother you forever.
You were going to burn out, reduce yourself to cinders amongst clouds of smoke.
Druig’s begging voice continued to echo through your mind, but you couldn’t focus on any specific word. It all mushed together, smoldering along with the rest of the world.
You wanted them to pay, but it was hurting you. Tears ran down your dry cheeks, searing a trail through the ashes caked onto your skin.
“Please,” you whispered from cracked lips. Your body swayed as you asked Druig to fill your mind with hope. You needed him to stop you.
The flames continued to spill from your body until you felt a trickle at the back of your brain. The floating sensation bled forward and pulled you away from the cliff your mind was about to fall over.
Your hands dropped to the ground once more, fingers clawing into the rubble to keep you steady. You hadn’t realized the ringing in your ears until it faded, letting in the sounds of your teammates fighting off the last deviants.
Phastos is okay. You protected him. We’re okay.
You trusted Druig with your life, and his with you. So you knew he took no offense as you turned over to see it yourself, see Phastos with your own eyes. He sat with his back against one of the village’s buildings, giving you a thumbs up and tired smile.
You returned it, the edges of your mouth lifting just enough. As you crawled from the circle of burnt ground around you, your heart slowed. They were all still here.
From behind, you felt your husband’s presence, caught his deep exhale as he sat among the grass.
His hands wrapped around your body, moving you to rest your back against your chest. “Rest, my love,” he murmured along the curve of your ear, smoothing his palm down your leg. And you did, sitting with your legs bent and feet planted as you relished in the weight of him encircling you.
Your throat felt too parched, so you whispered in your mind, I was so angry. I thought he was gone for a moment.
Druig leaned his head against yours, his thumb rubbing along your skin. “Aw, no way he’d go down that easily. He knows you’d kill him if he died on ya.”
His chuckle reverberated against you, drawing out your own laughter. An easy smile made its way onto your face, turning brighter as a wafting breeze washed over you.
The rest of the team made their way toward the village, each holding varying injuries from the fight. Gilgamesh patted a heavy hand onto your knee as he passed, his other hand encircling Thena’s arm. You watched as Sprite and Kingo joined them too, the latter making a fuss about how his suit didn’t match his complexion well enough.
The short beat of silence after they walked away felt painfully familiar. It made your heart heavy knowing their presence wouldn’t last.
“They love you, you know,” Druig said, knowing exactly where your thoughts went without having to read them. Turning your head to look at him, you admired the way sunlight carded its fingers through his hair and kissed freckled spots on his irises.
You nodded, giving his arm a squeeze in thanks. He pressed his forehead against yours, eyes fixated on you.
“And I love you, but please don’t ever pull a stunt like that again. Scared me half to death,” he breathed against your skin with a grin, lightly pinching your side to make his point.
It brought out a squeal from your lungs, your jaw dropping. “Are you sure you love me?” you laughed, shaking your head. “Because someone who loves me wouldn’t do that.”
You jokingly tried pinching him back, but he caught your hand, bringing it to his smiling mouth. With a gentleness that made you pause, he kissed your palm.
I love you more than anything… more than life itself.
His words caressed along your mind, filling your body with a warmth that didn’t pull at you or demand energy — it just settled deep into your ribs, breathing life into you. The comforting presence of his voice pulled you in, telling you that even when the team eventually left, your home would always be with you.
I love you too, Druig.
