This remarkable crown debuted in the 2011 series 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒕, where Jamie Campbell Bower donned it in his portrayal of King Arthur.   Twisted blue string was added to the piece to give it a slightly different look in a 2014 episode of 𝑽𝒊𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔, where Linus Roache, playing King Ecbert, wore it.   Find out more: Bit.ly/Acces095

This merlin character design from King Arthur comes from a personal project I was exploring a few years ago. I was exploring Merlin as more of a druid priest style character design. I still plan to do King Arthur some day, and Have more art from that project ill share in the future. What culture/myth/fairytales would you like to see me do?

The Arthurian Legend

The Arthurian Legend developed in Europe between c. 830, when the Welsh historian Nennius first mentions King Arthur through c. 1469 when Sir Thomas Malory composes Le Morte D’Arthur, the best-known version of the tales, which was published by William Caxton in 1485 and became a best-seller, as it has remained since its revival in the 19th century.

This collection presents a brief overview of the history of the tales and some of the central characters.

Arthur had felt for a long time that a lot of his life was laid out before him. He had pulled the sword from the stone as a boy, been crowned king and surrounded by knights since that day. 10years later and his path still felt like it was clear and laid out before him which he really should have been very grateful for and yet it troubled him too. He had never considered himself to be extraordinary, he still didn't believe it and tried very hard to stop people elevating him beyond what he was. A mortal man just like the rest of them.

With that heavy thought in his heart again after a day out in his newly founded city, Arthur had made his way to speak with the wizard, a man who had played quite a lead role in his life since as long as he could remember. Arthur still knocked on the door before entering, never assuming his right to the man's space and always a little cautious in case he walked in and had his eyebrows singed off by some magic he was working on.

"It's Arthur, I was hoping to speak with you," he called into the room knowing it was best to make sure he knew it was him just in case. He made sure not to sound too forlorn he felt really rather foolish coming to complain about people apparently loving and respecting him as their King. Really he did not feel like he had anyone else to turn to. His knights were supposed to be his equals and yet called him 'Sire' all the same. He sometimes missed being called 'Wart'.
