OK it's not fully finished, but I'm like. SERIOUSLY running out of steam for the end portion, so I figured I'd just post it anyhow and let people run wild while I wait for my brain to start cooperating with my keyboard.

I'm here to talk about something, but please let's be calm

I want to defend King Peppy-

Look, I know he lied to Poppy, and kept the tribes a secret, and kept Viva a secret, but hear me out-

Okay, let's start from the beginning

He was a good king, alright? You can see that he loved his people and would sacrifice himself for them, literally. That counts, right? Yes, when he kept the tribes a secret, he was affecting his people, but he was scared? Let's not forget that he was the one in charge when his people would be getting eaten by bergens. Like, no wonder he wanted to keep them safe. Maybe he spent every night blaming himself for not being a good king? We don't know.

All he wanted was to keep them safe. Yes, he wanted to run and hide from Barb, but can you blame him? He had good intentions, which were protecting, but the thing is that he did it wrong. And that's alright. He's human (or troll, I don't know-), it's okay for him to make mistakes. He saw his people getting eaten one after one, so he planned an escape. They were threatened to lose their music, so he wanted to hide. Sure, it wasn't the best course of action, but he was a king, he had people to protect, alright?

Now, his relationship with Poppy, and Viva

I hear you, I hear you, he kept Poppy's own sister a secret from her, but Viva's not just Poppy's sister, she's Peppy's daughter. Did we forget that?

His daughter. And he had lost her. Why didn't he tell Poppy? Because maybe he was traumatized? Like, that's something. Can we consider for a second that maybe he didn't even know if she was alive? And maybe he thought it was his fault as well? No wonder he never brought it up, he thought his daughter was dead. Was it wrong of him? Sure, he should've been honest, but please, he was suffering as well.

Please, let's discuss this calmly.

I've been doing more work on my Evil Poppy AU, and because Poppy finding out Viva is the biggest reason that she turned evil, I have been doing a lot of thinking about Viva's erasure. And wow is it worse the more I think about it

Because we all give Peppy flack for this. Of course, we do. He went over 20 years without ever mentioning Viva to Poppy. He basically pretended that Viva never existed in the first place.

But he didn't act alone.

Viva was one of the princesses. We have to assume that pretty much everyone who was at least older than Branch at the time of the escape knew about her. (Guessing because Viva was as much a surprise to Branch as she was to Poppy).

This probably comprises most of Pop Village.They all knew about Viva. Hundreds of trolls knew about Viva, and said nothing to Poppy. All of them collectively agreeing to never mention her sister to her ever.

Did none of them mention this because Peppy ordered them to stay quiet or was it that all of them wanted to forget those that were lost in the escape?

And then we get to the issue of records like photos and writings. At the beginning of the first movie, we see Poppy reading from a history book about the escape. A book that happens to omit the detail of her sister being lost.

What else was changed to avoid mentioning Viva's existence? Photos, stories, drawings.

We know that everyone thought she died, but that makes it worse. They thought that she was dead. Instead of putting up a memorial for her or doing something to remember her by like they should have, they decided to make sure she was forgotten. Erased from history.

Honestly, I'm surprised that Viva didn't turn into a villain upon finding this out.

I think King Peppy has a father's heart

If a kid of one of the leaders of any of the other troll tribes came to Peppy's kingdom begging the Pop Trolls for help to free their family and tribe from the Rock Trolls' clutches, I can see Peppy tearing up in compassion for the kid as his heart as a father trumps his fear of other tribes.

He may be afraid of the other tribes at the start of Trolls World Tour, but I'm pretty sure he has a father's heart.

Was working on a King Peppy design for my AU’s and I actually love how he turned out-

for the AU that I’m working on The Leader of the Pop Village carries the string in their hair, since King Peppy is the leader he has it
