The Lost City + Empire of Atlantis
Another key thing within the Bermuda Triangle in my proposed idea for The Genie Team season 10 is the legendary Lost City of Atlantis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now the Lost City of Atlantis is deep deep underground underneath the earth’s crust, with the only entrance to it being within the boundaries of the Bermuda Triangle. Especially since in the beginning, Milo Thatch mentioned that Atlantis was on a continent somewhere in the mid Atlantic Ocean, and the Bermuda Triangle is within that region too…
Tumblr media
(Credit for this map goes to Ninjamap on deviantart)
though as seen on this map, the Atlantean continent itself was likely east of the Bermuda Triangle.
Now as a little P.S.; Atlantis here is the same as in the cult Disney film; Atlantis the Lost Empire from 2001. Except the film takes place in the modern day rather than 1914. And it’d be a Genie Team movie. And here’s a history on Atlantis.
Sometime presumably before 100,000 BC, Atlantis was simply another civilization in the world and the Atlanteans were a normal race like any other at the time. One fateful day, a huge comet passed over the Earth. A single piece broke off and fell upon the landmass that was inhabited by the Atlanteans. To their astonishment, they managed to discover the great properties possessed by the comet fragment. Soon, they would use the fragment, which they called the Heart of Atlantis, as their source into becoming a more advanced civilization than any other before or since in history.
However, instead of using their new found technological powers for good, they exercised it to dominate other lands, establishing colonies all over the ancient world and subjugating the people there. They even settled an exploration colony on Skull Island, which was west of the Atlantean continent. The Atlantean Empire created a fearsome armada of flying machines called Martags, artificially-intelligent Leviathans that waged war with unmatched strength, and Gungnir, a powerful weapon. However, around 10,000 years ago, their hubris would become their undoing when an accidental discharge caused a Great Flood that threatened to wipe out Atlantis as a whole. The crystal that had fueled their technology and gifted them with extended longevity, would save a part of the city, though it would be buried beneath the waters and deep into the Earth. Though another huge force field also saved Skull Island and the island’s flora and fauna from the flood. Centuries afterwards, the surviving Atlantean colony on Skull Island soon disappeared, leaving only the buildings and machines, which became overgrown by the flora of Skull island.
Humbled by the result of their arrogance, the elder leaders of Atlantis, in particular King Kashekim Nedakh, decided to keep the crystal secret, even from its people, forever so as not to repeat their actions. Kashekim went further by ordering all of Atlantis' history to be destroyed and hid the crystal deep within the city through the throne room. Overtime, their past glory had been all but forgotten.
At some point, a shepherd named Aziz managed to stumble upon Atlantis. For two years, he secretly immersed himself of its culture, uncovering bits and pieces of its past, including the location of the Heart of Atlantis. Upon his return to the surface, however, he was considered a madman and subsequently sent to an asylum. While imprisoned, he would detail his journey in great detail, albeit in the Atlantean Language. His writings would become known as the Shepherd's Journal.
The Journal would pass through many hands over time, thus bringing the legend of Atlantis back into the consciousness of the surface world. Some considered it fact, others called it fiction, the discovery of the lost empire was nonetheless considered one of the greatest treasures all archaeologists strived to achieve.
And there’s this small yet noteworthy rumor that the Heart of Atlantis might have also been the creator of genie powers, but there’s no evidence that this mighta been the case. With the only clue being that when Robin Williams Genie was released from his lamp by Aladdin, he (Genie) said “10,000 years”, as well as “cosmic powers”. These two phrases are the only sort of evidence, but even then, it’s hard to tell.

I’ve recently realised that there is a second tragic meaning behind “The Heart of Atlantis lies in the eyes of her king”
Why would it lie in the eyes of a blind man? The answer is simple… as a reminder
Kashekim Nedakh not only hid the Heart away to prevent history from repeating and to protect Kida but he also hid it nearby to remind him about what his arrogance cost him when he tried to use the Heart as a weapon of war.
I can only wonder how many times he would sit down on his throne, blindly gaze at where the Heart of Atlantis was kept and then cry for the one he lost…
Another headcanon I have is that the Queen warned him that the Heart is not meant to be used like that but he didn’t listen

Guide to Atlantis
Enter the city that's hidden miles below the Earth's surface!
Milo and the other explorers find Atlantis in a huge cavern far beneath the Earth's surface. The city and its surrounding sea sit on top of a giant stone formation shaped like a table. Take this map with you when you visit—it'll help you get around town!
Library: The library contains tons of information that puts Atlantis light-years ahead of the of the rest of the world in technology and knowledge—with one exception. When Atlantis sank, the king removed all records of the old empire from the library. So young Atlanteans never learned the truth about what happened to their world.
Crystal Chamber: Many years ago, the crystal chamber contained a secret underground passage that led from the palace to the outskirts of Atlantis. Now King Nedakh has hidden the energy crystal that gives Atlantis its power within this deserted chamber.
The Palace: Before Atlantis sank, the palace had a beautiful throne room where kings ruled and met their subjects. Though it was built to withstand any attack, the palace has decayed over thousands of years. But King Kashekim Nedakh still lives here.
King's Chamber: Known only to members of the royal family, this room contained a hidden elevator leading from the palace down to the crystal chamber. If the palace was attacked, the king could use the elevator to escape to safety.
Banquet Hall: In the old days, before Atlantis sank, the king would hold huge feasts and celebrations at the palace. The banquet hall seated hundreds of partygoers. But the festive room hasn't been used in a millennium. After the catastrophe, the king went on a thousand-year bummer—he wasn't in a partying mood, and he never invited people over.
Notes:
First of all; "thousand-year bummer"!? Also the description seems to imply that the flood occurred one thousand years ago, which contradicts the movie ("Eighty-five, eighty-eight HUNDRED years old!") Also every location shown (with the possible exception of the library) is just a part of the palace. I'd like to have more of the surrounding city here.

Atlantis: In Spirit
Kida opened her eyes and found herself back above ground in the city. She looked around in confusion. Only moments before she had been with Milo in the crystal chamber.
She'd been in awe of the crystal that she'd previously possessed only vague memories of.
She’d lived most of her life believing it had been a star, then suddenly it had become very real. And as it turned out, it had been in the city the entire time. Her father had hidden it in a secret chamber under the throne room.
She remembered all the times she'd asked her father about the "star" that had stolen her mother. He'd always been vague, refusing to say much about it. Now she knew why.
Still, she wondered how she had lost time and where exactly Milo was.
Kida looked around. The city looked the same as it always did. She could see people bustling about down at the waterside market’s open-air stalls, life carrying on as usual.
Where were the outer worlders? They had all been in the throne room when she, Milo, Rourke, and Helga had had descended into the crystal chamber. Where they still in the city? Had they managed to steal the heart?
And her father, he had been seriously injured when she’d last seen him. Was he alright? She turned, ready to run up the steps and back into the throne room to check but stopped short when she saw a woman standing at the bottom of the wide staircase. She looked strangely familiar, and it took Kida several seconds to realize who it was. Then her eyes widened.
"Mahtihm." She breathed, staring in awe and amazement for a moment before closing the short distance between them and running to her mother. How was her mother here after so many years? She brushed her question aside and concentrated on the feeling of her mother’s arms around her.
The long-absent queen, Kadesh, looked exactly as she had seventy-nine hundred years before on the day Kida had last seen her. Kida then realized how young her mother had been when she was taken. She couldn’t have been much older than she herself was now.
It struck Kida then where she was exactly. This wasn't her Atlantis; this was a version created inside the crystal. She thought back to the last thing she could remember, which was standing on the shore of the subterranean lake with Milo and the others. She had been bonded to the heart the way her mother had. She wondered if she would have to remain there as well. Though she was saddened at the thought of being without her father and of never seeing Milo again the idea of remaining in this other place didn’t frighten her. She could feel a soothing presence permeating the area and knew instinctually it was the crystal and all the Atlanteans who had lived going back thousands of years.
Kadesh stroked Kida's hair as she held her close. "Oh, my sweet girl, how I've missed you."
Kida held her mother tightly in return. "I've missed you too, Mahtihm, so much."
It had been hard growing up without her mother, for both her and her father. He’d done his best in raising her but after being blinded his health had become progressively worse and she had been allowed to run wild while growing up, never learning things a mother would teach a daughter.
Kadesh pulled away and took Kida's face in her hands. "Look how you've grown. You were so small, so young when we were separated. Now you're a woman and so beautiful."
Kida looked at her mother with happy years in her eyes and noticed how much they resembled each other. Her heart ached when she thought off all the lost years.
Then she suddenly remembered what had brought her there.
"What’s happened, Mahtihm?" She asked. "Is the city safe? And what of Tahbtoap and Milo?”
She was so afraid that man, Rourke, would hurt Milo, as he'd hurt her father.
Kadesh took Kida by the shoulders. "Atlantis will be saved." She assured Kida. "All will be well."
All will be well... Was that what she'd said to Milo? She had a vague memory of telling him something of that sort but when she tried to concentrate it slipped away.
Kida grasped her mother’s arms. “You’re sure?”
Kadesh nodded. “Milo Thatch and his friends are fighting for you, for Atlantis.”
Her eyes widened and she shook her head. “I saw them betray him.”
Kadesh smiled at her. “Their hearts were changed, and they chose to follow Milo and save Atlantis.”
Kida felt her shoulders sag with relief.
She was then distracted by movement behind her mother and when Kida looked, she was shocked to see her father, Kashekim, walking down the stairs. He was not the sickly, elderly man she knew so well. He had been rejuvenated to the young man he'd been at the time of the mehbehlmoak.
"Tahbtoap?" She said, her voice coming out in a whimper. If he were there, it could only mean one thing.
She stepped away from her mother, eyes wide and filling with tears. “No, no, no.” She choked out, sinking down onto the steps and bursting into tears.
She felt her father sit down beside her and she fell into his arms sobbing.
“I’m not ready, Tahbtoap.” She told him. “I still need you.”
It was all too much. Things were changing too quickly.
Kashekim held her tightly. “Kida, no one is ever ready to lose the ones they love. I will always be with you though, and your mother too.”
On the other side, Kadesh sat down and wrapped her arms around Kida as well. “My love, your father is right. We will always be with you, no matter where you go.”
Kida gently pulled away from her father and looked between her parents, grasping their hands.
“I feel like a little girl again.” She confessed to them, tears sliding down her cheeks. “Lost and alone and all I want is for you to tell me that things will be alright, though I know they won’t be.”
    They hugged her close.
“Kida, the days ahead will be difficult, but you will be surrounded by people who love and care for you, friends old and new.” Her father told her.
Her mother spoke. “You will need them as much as they will need you.”
Kida thought of Milo then. How she’d only just met him yet could feel the potential for something wonderful. He brought a small smile to her face, even as the tears fell. And she leaned into her parents embraces.
The three sat together for some time and eventually, Kida’s tears subsided. This was a rare opportunity being given to her, she realized. She had gotten to see her mother and her father again.
Her musings were interrupted suddenly when the light in the city turned a deep red. Kida was reminded of the crystal when it had been awakened in the underground chamber. The flash of color was followed by a horrible shriek and pervasive feelings of anger and evil. Then it dissipated as quickly as it had appeared and was replaced by the natural lighting and feelings of love and peace.
Kadesh looked at Kida. “It’s over now.” She told her. “It’s time for you to return.”
Kida’s eyes welled with tears again and she tried to blink them away. “I don’t want to go. I don’t wasn’t to leave either of you.”
    Her parents hugged her.
“You will be a wonderful queen.” Kashekim told her, cupping her face in his hands. “I have been proud to call you my daughter and I love you very much, Kida.”
She threw her arms around him once more, then turned to hug her mother.
“I love you, my darling girl. And never forget that your father and I will always be with you.”
Kida smiled through the tears falling freely. “I love you both so much.” She told them as she began to lose consciousness.
The last thing she felt was her mother gently pressing a small object into her right hand.

Welcome to Atlantis!
Join Milo and the other explorers as they see the lost city for the first time!
When the explorers finally find Atlantis in a huge cavern far beneath the Earth's surface, they make two mind-boggling discoveries: First, this bustling city gets its power from a mysterious crystal. Second, the Atlanteans live for a very long time—sometimes thousands of years! They soon meet the king of Atlantis, Kashekim Nedakh, and his daughter, Princess Kidagakash (Kida). The king, who's 20,000 years old, is the only Atlantean who remembers when Atlantis sank. Ever since that terrible day, he's kept a secret: that the people of Atlantis destroyed their world by using their powerful crystal for evil rather than good. The result: a huge explosion that caused many disasters—including a giant flood that covered the whole planet—and buried Atlantis far beneath the Earth. The king felt so bad about it all that he hid the mighty crystal and shut himself inside his palace for thousands of years.
Turn the page to explore the mysterious city of Atlantis!

This post isn’t really about anime. Just a rant about how Kida from Atlantis: The Last Empire should be one of the main Disney princesses because she IS indeed a princess by Disney standards. She is the daughter of Kashekim Nedakh who is the Chief/ King of Atlantis. In fact, she’s closer to being a princess than Mulan is, (Who isn’t technically a princess. While she has a very high position of honor in China, she still only married to a general.) So just saying that even if they wanted to keep the same number of Disney princesses, Kida could easily replace Mulan. (Not that I have anything against her.)
