My favourite tomb in the Cathedral of Barcelona (Catalonia). This is Antoni Tallander —known at the time as Mossèn Borra, Lord Borra—, who was master of jesters.

His is the only tombstone in the Cathedral that's not made of stone. It's made of bronze, and has the Latin inscription "Hic jacet Dominus Borra miles gloriosus. Facta fuit sepultura ista anno domini MCCCCXXXIII", which means "Here lies Lord Borra, glorious soldier. This tombstone was made in the year of Our Lord 1433." He was not a soldier, even less a glorious one; the term "glorious soldier" is a joke and a reference to the comedy play of the same name by the Roman playwriter Plautus.

He served as jester in the courts of two kings of Catalonia-Aragon: Martin the Humane's (Martí l'Humà) in Sicily and Alphonse the Magnanimous' (Alfons el Magnànim) in Naples. King Martin held him in such high esteem that he entrusted him with diplomatic missions, which led him to take part in the Council of Constance and follow the Holy Roman Emperor Segismund, reporting back to the king via letters. According to the legend, the last thing king Martin did before dying was laughing at a joke Borra made.

it had been a month since the war between the fae and humans, a month since the crowning of the new king and queen. it had definitely been a strange change from the old home you once knew. instead of being confined without the walls of the large cave, you now had a forest and open sky to soar in. As you neared you couldn't help but admire the way that the sun hit his face, illuminating his features. "Enjoying what you see y/n?" he asks with a closed eye expression, a teasing smirk gracing his face. "it's hard not to" you laugh "I'm surprised to see you, i honestly thought you would've stayed in our old home." you says sitting beside him "i honestly debated it, i understand that the human king and queen of alstead are close with maleficent and the creatures of the moores. but it is not them I'm worried about" he says, his playful smirk fading into a scowl at the thought of what the other human kingdoms may be planning. "so then why stay? what changed your mind enough to go against what you fear" you ask leaning your head on his shoulder. he doesn't answer, just softly takes your chin in his hand and brings his lips to yours. your kiss lasts a few seconds, but it feels like an eternity for you. "Does that answer your question" he mumbles against your lips, before returning to the kiss. you smile against him, butterfly fluttering in your stomach. the two of you stay like that for a few moments more, before pulling away and smiling at each other with love. "I've loved you for many years y/n," he says sweetly "Then why have you never said anything borra?" you ask "I was afraid of your rejection." he says. Kohga’s not possessive per-se, but something about seeing someone else hitting it off with the seer in a way that looks more than simply friendly rubs Kohga the wrong way. Jealous? Him? Psssh, no. Of course not. It’s just that….Astor should be paying attention to KOHGA and KOHGA ONLY.

Which certainly explains why he—in disguise as usual of course—sidles in between the chit-chatting men, all but bumping the other out of the way with his hip without a care in the world.

"Oh! Sorry, didn’t see you there, " Kohga turns to the other man after he’s slipped an arm around Astor’s waist. "My very good friend and I here were just about to go on our way. You should probably be doing the same. Because he’s about to fuck me real good here in a bit."

Lord Borras was among the neediest of allies Astor had accumulated over the years, outmatched only by Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan—but, unfortunately for Lord Borras, he was not quite at the same level of importance when it came to the grand plan of Calamity Gabon’s revival. As such, Astor could not spend his time and effort and attention catering to him, a fact which he had tried to gently outline in his numerous…numerous…numerous letters.

It seemed Lord Borras did not agree.

To calm the steam, Astor agreed to meet him at a small pub with few patrons, where he could properly assuage all those pesky doubts. Lord Borras was not a terribly complicated man. He wanted to be important, wanted to feel important, and didn’t care for how his title of Lord only carried so far. He wanted the respect of princes and kings—in short, he was an easy sell when it came to Calamity Ganon and, Astor knew, would be easy enough to sate with the proper strokes and smiles.

He’d nearly succeeded. Astor was leaned in close with hand was upon Lord Borras, who had finally relaxed his tense shoulders and scrunched face, pleased with every assurance of how very vital he was, how fortunate Calamity Ganon was to have such a keen ally right in the midst of his enemy, on and on. He was smiling and his eyes were darkening and Astor had him precisely where he wanted him—

And then they were interrupted. There’s a flash of barely contained irked confusion across Astor’s face before he recognizes the man who’d wedged between them as the same disguise Kohga had used once before. He must have followed Astor, again—Godsdamn it.

“Is that so?” Lord Borras snaps, igniting in angry red from cheek to ear, “Is this why you’ve been too busy, Prophet?”

“No,” Astor is quick to respond, holding up a finger first to Lord Borras, and then to Kohga, “No, it is not. I need to speak with my friend for one moment, if you please—“

“I do not please.”

There is a shift to Astor’s tone as he lowers his voice, softer and harder all at once, “Lord Borras, I will thank you to wait one. Moment. You most certainly did not come all this way to storm off, yes? I will return shortly.”

If Lord Borras had more to say on the matter, he didn’t voice it, merely crossing his arms and tapping his foot as Astor yanked Kohga along to the nearest corridor, where he promptly pins him to the wall with a firm hand and firmer glare.

Chapter 17

Gerda shivered when she felt the prickly texture of Borra's wing brush against her hand as he walked past her. Her skin briefly tingled around the scraped area while she paced behind him. She wondered if his wings were durable enough to withstand an iron sword. Perhaps they would make a fine accessory to hang on a wall or even a personal trophy of her own. Gerda wickedly smirked at the thought.

She absent mindedly trailed behind him until they reached a door located in a isolated corner of the tavern. She glanced up at him with confusion,  wondering what they were lingering around for. She had expected him to lead her outside towards the back. He then turned, glaring at her baffled expression with impatience in his eyes.

"Do you not need to use the privy now?" Borra asked as he irritably stared down at her.

"Yes but...I wasn't expecting it to be in there." Gerda admitted feeling hesitant about going inside.

"Hurry up and handle your business human." He impatiently hissed while staring at her with disgust.

She narrowed her eyes at him, opening the door then slamming it shut behind her. As if her presence was sensed, glowing orbs above illuminated allowing her to view her surroundings. She was rather surprised when she noticed a bowl with a stream of water running down and exiting into a tiny hole. Next to it was what appeared to be green thick leaves rolled up in a cylinder shape. On the far end of the room was a basin in the shape of a bowl for her to cleanse her hands in. On it sat an olive soap bar placed on a small rectangular plate.

This certainly was no simple, filthy privy but something that resembled luxury. Back in Ulstead, commoners would use outhouses to handle their business. Those like herself who worked in high royal positions were fortunate to use garderobes. The fey beyond question differed from humans.

She cautiously walked up to the basin to cleanse her hands. While drying her hands, she took a deep breath with the intent of calming her active nerves. After a minute of gathering her mind, she observed the privy room to clear her head some more. Gerda had to admit that she was amazed by the craftiness and it was something humans had yet to think of. This would certainly be a much sanitary advancement compared to what Ulstead currently had commoners use.

Gerda hesitantly walked to the door and opened it, revealing an agitated Borra waiting outside with his eyes overlooking his surroundings. She gritted her teeth when she noticed several humans and fey creatures glance at him with admiration or smiled his way. They treated Borra like royalty but yet he didn't act the part. It was inappropriate in her previous kingdom for the king, queen, and prince to openly stroll around in towns let alone lowly taverns.

"No more breaks after this, I have important matters to attend and you're delaying them." Borra warned, interrupting her brooding.

He then turned to walk back to their table with her behind him. Every creature quickly moved out his way with respect in their eyes. His large form walked as if he owned the place, which only added to Gerda's growing annoyance of him. A creature like him had no place in the world to be acting like royalty. That right was reserved specifically for the king and queen. A sting of hurt pulled at her heart when she realized she no longer belonged to her human kingdom so there was no point in defending its name.

Once they reached their table, Borra roughly shoved her into a chair earning a hiss of pain when her wrist made contact with the edge. She cradled it to her chest as she glared up at him. He then coldly stared at her before speaking, taking no notice of her sudden discomfort.

"If I come back and find you missing, expect to have broken legs after I haunt you down." Borra smoothly said with malice as his eyes dared her.

Gerda simply nodded feeling her face pale at his threat that echoed throughout her brain. He then walked away into the crowd leaving her feeling alone and nervous. She shakenly put her cloak on after noticing some creatures glancing at her and whispering. They obviously recognized her and had no shame when it came to showing her how unwelcomed she was. Some glared and spat on the floor to show their distaste while others made loud offensive remarks. Many women giggled as they whispered about her amongst each other.

"Can I get you something dear?" A feminine voice politely asked, drawing Gerda's attention.

"U-Um...perhaps some water." Gerda said feeling wary of the fey, wondering why she was acting so kind.

The horned woman left to fetch her order as several females giggled and stared, making Gerda become suspicious. She didn't like the way they were acting and it made her more skeptical. Her instincts told her to leave but Borra's warning loudly rang through her mind. Just then the woman returned with Gerda's cup of water.

"Thank you." Gerda said as she reached out to grab it but loudly gasped when the woman threw the water in her face.

"Evil little 'bitch'. One day you will properly pay for what you did to my people." The horned woman cruelly hissed with a glare full of hate.

Gerda froze staring at her in disbelief with ice cold water drenching down her cloak from her now damp hair. Loud laughter filled the air as the creatures found pleasure in her turmoil. The woman turned to leave earning a few cheers from the creatures as she passed them. Her heart dropped when she noticed several humans staring at her with taunting grins. Her own people didn't care. Her own 'kind'.

Gerda stared down at her hands in shame and embarrassment with droplets of water falling into them. She couldn't resist the tears that formed in the corners of her eyes. The overwhelming feeling of loneliness and abandonment was all hitting her at once. She quietly sat with nothing but the clear droplets of water that still lingered on her skin. Suddenly the laughing and vulgar remarks slowly silenced. Gerda confusingly glanced up and noticed both the fey and human eyes fixated on something behind her.

"Get up, we're leaving." Borra's sharp voice demanded as a feeling of relief filled her.

She quickly stood from her chair glancing over at Borra who was staring at the surrounding fey and fairies with an icy glint to his eyes. He then walked towards the door with Gerda trailing behind. Once they were outside she found herself wanting to return to his castle and stay locked inside her room. Today was a reminder of where she stood in the eyes of others including her very own people. Not a single human that was in the tavern bothered to come to her aid and several even contributed to the mockery.

Once they reached the cage, she quickly walked up to the door with the need to open it and run inside. This new weakness that had been unlocked within her was far too poisonous and she did not want to break down in front of Borra. He nodded for the guard to open her door before turning and forcefully flying up into the sky with dirt and grass floating around from where he stood. Her blue eyes gazed at his retreating form and his massive wings with envy. He had all the freedom in the world to travel the skies yet here she was stuck as a slave. Gerda sighed before obediently walking inside her cage and spent the rest of the ride contemplating the day's events.

As soon as they reached the castle she shuffled out feeling some bit of comfort when she caught sight of the castle with its surrounding beauty. It still wasn't enough to wash away the pain and throbbing loneliness she deeply held. Borra was nowhere in sight which offered her a brief moment of relief because she was far too emotionally fragile. She gasped when the guard pushed her, indicating it was time to head inside the castle.

Gerda silently walked ahead following the guards with sorrow festering within her chest. It almost felt like something inside was swallowing her. She shivered as wind blew past her damp clothing and hair. She forcefully swallowed her emotions once they entered the castle. Inside she was met by Rayne who arrogantly stared down at her with a face of disgust and judgment.

"Why are you wet?" Rayne asked with her usual sharp tone.

"Your people are not quite fond of my presence in town." Gerda responded as she removed the damp cloak, awkwardly holding it against her chest.

"Serves you right, I'd do the same if I were them. Perhaps worse." Rayne mockingly remarked, nodding at a servant girl nearby whose wings flickered in a threatening manner towards Gerda.

Gerda blinked in surprise when the girl snatched the damp cloak from her hands and walked away with it. She confusingly glanced over to Rayne wondering why she couldn't just hold onto it since she most likely was headed to her room anyway.

"Borra has requested you in his chambers so surely you won't be needing that." Rayne abruptly said with an edge to her tone.

She then started walking towards the stairs with Gerda in tow, almost panicking at the thought of being in his chambers. Her body felt shaky wondering if perhaps she misheard what Rayne had said. There's no reason Borra could actually want her in 'his' personal space. What could he possibly need her there for? Her mind pondered over what she might've done to anger him that would give him enough reason to punish her.

Gerda's eyes widened when she noticed them heading towards the third level of stairs that led to the next floor. She took a peek up and noticed various sections of levels that contained either more doors or open space leading to halls and hallways. It seemed that the castle was designed for both human and fey to easily travel in. If Rayne wanted to, she could simply fly up to her chosen destination while Gerda took the stairs.

Once they reached the third floor they headed towards a circular object that appeared to be made of glass. It moved in a liquid-like state as it traveled up to each floor of the castle. Rayne reached out to touch it and an opening the size of a door appeared in front of them. She then pulled Gerda inside and touched it again which then caused the opening to close up.

Gerda stared around in awe, noticing how it almost looked like they were inside a tube with water surrounding them. She had never seen such a creation before. It's certainly was something humans were incapable of inventing for at least several hundred years. Once again the fey creatures had surprised her.

"This is another form of traveling through each level within the castle for those who can't fly. Using the stairs would've taken far too long. Stand still and do not vomit on me if you find yourself feeling nauseous." Rayne informed with her hands reaching out and tapping on the odd liquid wall.

Without warning a circular part of the floor they were standing on floated up causing Gerda to briefly lose her footing. She felt her stomach tickle at the unfamiliar movement as the speed picked up. Once they reached what she assumed was the top floor of the castle they exited the strange tube and walked onto white marble floor that glistened from the sun. She glanced up astonished by the ceiling, which was made of glass, allowing her to get a beautiful view of the sky.

"Hurry you dense girl, you don't want to keep him waiting much longer." Rayne scolded Gerda, tugging on her arm.

Description: As her name suggests, she's the queen of the fairies. She is usually calm and cheerful, but be on your best behavior around her - she is merciless to anyone she deems a troublemaker. Aside from her royal duties, she runs a rehabilitation center for young imps and demons.

However, she seems to go overboard whenever thanking someone for doing her a favor. Once, she was possessed by the power of the Miracle Stone, but a brave hero rescued her from its clutches.

She discovered the beautiful Dazzle Sequin while exploring one day, and, hoping it would improve her looks, she took it. Unfortunately, the Sequin corrupted her and transformed her into a sea monster. Luckily, a daring adventurer saved her from the Sequin's influence and showed her her real beauty.

The only thing she like more than casting spells and making potions is yarn, which is why she was ecstatic when she chanced upon the Eternal Spool, a spool of yarn that never runs out. She realized too late the power of the Spool, which turned her from mischievous to just plain evil. She was almost set on conquering the world before a legendary warrior stopped her and destroyed the Spool, transforming her back to her old self.

Clay Centurion

Full Name: Johnson Cobble

Appearance: Teenage, medium color skin, short, curly black hair, armor made of hardened clay.

Description: A warrior made of clay. His armor may look heavy and clunky, but he can move almost effortlessly in it. He lives at the top of Mount Pumice, challenging any passers-by he meets. Despite his fearsome appearance, he's actually quite friendly, if overly chummy. When he picked up the Sunbaked Sword, an unbreakable and remarkable weapon, he became conceited and overconfident. Thankfully, a paragon of justice went up to Mount Pumice one day and defeated him, freeing him of the Sword's control.
