35 Things You Want to Know Prior to Traveling to Australia
Tumblr media
My Australia
1. Due to its enormous size, Australia provides a broad selection of climatic zones - in the temperate climes of Southern Australia into the tropical humidity of north Queensland and the arid desert heat of the inside. The summer months (December to February) are usually the very popular for seeing coastal regions like Sydney and Melbourne, while winter (June to August) is a fantastic time to explore the Red Centre.
My Australia
2. Winters are usually mild across the southern countries, but temperatures could be surprisingly nippy in Tasmania.
3. Back in Australia, the very long summer, particularly the 2 weeks around Christmas Day, is the busiest period of the season and also you need to book flights and accommodation well in advance if you'd like to be in Australia during this period.
4. Also Keep in Mind that resort lodging  Is at a premium throughout major sporting events like the Melbourne Cup (first Tuesday in November), the Australian Open (also in Melbourne, each January), Adelaide's engine occasion in March and the Australian Grand Prix held in Melbourne during March.
5. Unless You're an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you'll require a visa to enter Australia.  It is possible to apply for a selection of visas, such as tourist visas and working holiday visas, but you have to do this prior to leaving home.
6. Back in Australia, tipping is becoming a lot more common, particularly in pubs and pubs. Giving 10 percent of the Entire invoice Is Usually considered proper
7. Back in Australia, driving is on the left, therefore many UK guests will feel at home.
8. Australia is a casual society - do not be surprised to be known as"partner" by strangers.
9. Dress codes are both relaxed: when exercising, except in smart restaurants, most guys wear shorts and T-shirts.
10. Australians have a strong sense of humor.
11. If you are aged between 18 and 30 you might be qualified to apply for a Working Holiday Visa, letting you live, travel and work anywhere in Australia for a year.
12. You can apply for vacation working license if you meet the following requirements
• Be aged between 18 and 30 (inclusive) in the beginning of employing
If You're awarded a Working Holiday Visa, you are able to:
• Input Australia anytime in 12 months of the visa grant
• Stay for up to 12 weeks in Australia
• Leave and re-enter Australia any number of occasions in the 12 months from the date of original entry
• Undertake temporary employment in Australia for up to six weeks with any company
13. Having another Working Holiday Visa you can extend your stay in Australia or return again for one more year until you turn 31. To acquire the next visa, you want to have done a minimum of 3 weeks'specified work', such as fruit harvesting, in a qualified regional place.
14. Australia is a remarkably varied island, continent, and country- both culturally and geographically speaking.
15. Virtually all of Australia's population lives within 50 kilometers of the shoreline.
16. As a former penal colony, the nation is currently a combination of contemporary cosmopolitan civilization and historical Aboriginal customs.
17. A trip to Australia guarantees excellent nightlife, sightseeing, and daring adventures to remember forever.
18. The very best time for Australia travel is involving mid-April to late August, when airfares are the cheapest, although the peak travel season in many areas of Australia is through their winter, the very pleasant time to go to Australia is from April through September.
19. Daytime Temperatures are hot, and it seldom rains. September and October are perfect, once the heat is enough to protect you on the shore in the southern countries and the wildflowers of Western Australia have been in blossom.
Hostels Begin at 20 AUD per night for a dorm room, although they get as large as 40 from the large coastal cities.  Personal rooms with a double bed and a shared bath in hostels array between 80-100 AUD each night.
20. For budget resorts, you're seeking to spend around 75-95 AUD to get a double room, private toilet, TV, and breakfast. Larger, string hotels cost nearer to 200 AUD. Camping prices between 15-30 AUD each night (cheaper if you bring your own tent, more costly if you are parking an RV).
21. Food is not cheap in Australia! Most decent restaurant Eateries price at least 20 AUD.  The ideal value food would be the Indian and Asian restaurants where you could find a really satisfying meal for under $10 AUD!
22. Local city buses and trains price 3-4 AUD. The hottest and most affordable way to travel would be to push yourself.
23. Flying can be quite expensive as a result of limited competition, particularly if going from shore to shore. I normally avoid flying in Australia unless I'm pressed for time or there's a sale.
24. Multi-day Tours and activities are expensive, usually costing 400-540 AUD. Day excursions will cost approximately 135-230 AUD. As an instance, a one-way visit to the fantastic Barrier Reef can price 230 AUD as a two-night sailing trip round the Whitsunday Islands can cost up of 540 AUD. A three-day Visit to Uluru out of Alice Springs is about 480 AUD. Walking tours are approximately 50 AUD and afternoon excursions to wine regions are between 150-200 AUD.
25. Suggested daily funding - $60-80 AUD / / 43-57 USD (Notice: This is a proposed budget assuming you are staying at a hostel, eating a bit, cooking all your foods, and utilizing local transport. This also depends heavily on the amount of excursions you're doing! Employing the budget suggestions below, you always have the option to reduce this amount. But should you keep in fancier lodging or eat more frequently, anticipate this to be greater!)
26. The amount of crime is not any greater than in the united kingdom. Be cautious with personal possessions and travel records in towns and popular tourist destinations.
27. Avoid carrying everything in 1 bag. Do not  Leave bags unattended in vehicles, public areas or nightclubs.  Theft from safety deposit boxes is normal in the more affordable hotels and hostels.  Be particularly attentive at night at the busy tourist regions of Sydney such as Kings Crossdown city George Street, Hyde Park and Centennial Park.
28. There have been a few significant sexual assaults against British nationals in Australia.  Be careful at the city center of Alice Springs in the nighttime. There have been quite a few incidents of harassment, robberies and attacks (including sexual assault) on overseas tourists.
29. Alcohol and drugs may result in you being alert, less accountable and not as conscious of your surroundings. If you're going to drink, know your limit.  Drinks served in pubs abroad tend to be more powerful than people in the united kingdom.
30. Beware of scams where potential tenants Are requested to move a deposit into an overseas bank accounts in exchange for keys into a rental home in Australia. British travellers have fallen prey to such scams.
31. You can reduce the danger of  Losing your passport by acquiring a proof of credit. This can be a recognized form of ID for several services such as opening bank account or entering licensed premises. By acquiring a card shortly after you arrive you may limit the requirement to take your passport with you.
32. In case your passport is stolen or lost you could have the ability to acquire an Emergency Travel Document in the nearest British Consulate. .
33. Australia is a massive country. If you are researching national parks it may take some time to get help in the case of an emergency.
34. The terrain and extreme heat could have a serious influence on your capabilities. Take loads of water and also a way of rigging up shield from sunlight.
35. Australia is home to some of dangerous Animal species, out of crocodiles, jellyfish and sharks to venomous  Insects, snakes and spiders are present in many areas of the nation.

Travelling to King’s Row
Overwatch is set in future earth, approximately 2076, several decades after the Omnic Crisis and we learn through the design of the maps how several countries dealt with the attacks from omnics and Talon (a terrorist organisation bent on wreaking havoc in the world) as well as how the fallout has affected their respective countries in present time. First up we’re visiting England, London. A map by the name of King’s Row and it was one of the first few maps that were developed for the game because of course, London’s always been an interesting and iconic location in pop culture.
Tumblr media
King’s Row
Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Blizzard Gamepress The image above shows a gloomy, rainy (these two adjectives seem to be what most English people use to describe London in real life as well apparently) and futuristic depiction of England. Right off the bat, you can immediately tell it is England due to the iconic items that can only be found in England such as the red double decker bus, Big Ben, the architecture of the buildings and not pictured here but the red telephone booth. To the left you’ll see a bookshop and the right a theatre named The Meridian where Tekhartha Mondatta (a pacifist omnic and the leader of the Shambali, a group comprised of omnics that achieved ‘spiritual awakening’) was preaching about omnics and humans coexisting before he was unfortunately assassinated by Widowmaker, an agent of Talon (that terrorist organization I mentioned earlier).
Tumblr media
Mondatta gets shot by Widowmaker, inches away from the vehicle that would have driven him away to safety. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Animated Short | “Alive” After this unfortunate incident, a statue of Mondatta holding a little girl’s hand was erected in the middle of the city for all to see, especially for tourists as the statue is placed directly in front of the Alderworth Hotel. The statue now serves as a reminder and hope for many people around the world, a hope that one day humanity will come to live in peace with their omnic brethren.
Tumblr media
Rest in peace, Mondatta. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Blizzard Gamepress Mondatta was a symbol of hope for many omnics around the globe, but particularly for those in King’s Row due to the mistreatment of omnics there. To provide a little context and backstory, since the end of the Omnic Crisis, omnic-human relations have tensed up with humans unwilling to believe these omnics wouldn’t rise above and plot against humanity again. This tension is particularly present in King’s Row, with its citizens treating omnics as lesser than; not wanting omnics to have equal rights as humans. Riots and protests broke out and the omnics were eventually driven to live beneath the city, literally beneath the city.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
The Underworld, where omnics are forced to reside. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Archive Fandom The tensions later eased following Mondatta’s teachings in King’s Row, so much so that Mondatta was invited to a groundbreaking ceremony of Turing Green SWO (a development plan for omnic housing in King’s Row).
Tumblr media
Mayor of King’s Row, Mayor Nandah and Mondatta at the Turing Green SWO ceremony. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Fandom Just as things were beginning to look up, King’s Row was overwhelmed with bombings and attacks during the ceremony by the omnic terrorist organization Null Sector.
Tumblr media
Null Troopers raining from the sky. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Overwatch Fandom The terrorist group was defeated by Overwatch agents but the damage has been done, the tension amongst omnics and humans have never been higher at this point in time until Mondatta’s assasination, which had further escalated it. Side note: The fogginess and the overall atmosphere feels “England”. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it’s very steampunky, very industrial feeling. Well that’s also because the last part of the map is literally an industrial power plant.
Tumblr media
Power plant in King’s Row, it’s also where the Underworld is. Image by Blizzard Entertainment via Blizzard Gamepress The colours, the aesthetic, steam punk fans would especially love this map. I think that’s all I’m going to talk about for this map, if there’s anything I wanted to elaborate on more I’ll make a second post on King’s Row!

The Stone Knight
Part 1/? - Two Statues Part 2/? - A Curious Interview Part 3/? - John Doe Part 4/? - Escape Attempt Part 5/? - Making the News Part 6/? - Fallout Part 7/? - More Impossible
The Loch Ness Monster attempts to make love to a Ford Ranger.
Nat had to admit, some part of her had almost wanted to believe that Sir Stephen really was a medieval knight, maybe turned to stone and now restored.  It didn't matter that there was no historical record of him or that he didn't speak the right kind of English, it would just be so romantic, and she wouldn't have to worry about whether anything made sense.  Who needed sense when there was actual magic involved?  Finding out that the statues really were not only modern, but last-few-months modern, was both a vindication and oddly disappointing.
“Well?” Nat asked.  “Don't keep us in suspense.”
DI Carter scrolled down the email she'd recieved.  “They were made by a guy named Aaron Apple.  He makes posh garden ornaments out of a workshop on Perth Road in Dundee.”
Nat let that sink in, and the mix of emotions she'd been feeling faded away into a startled annoyance.  “Are you telling me,” she asked, “that the whole time, those two statues were carved literally across the street from where I work?”
“Evidently,” said Carter.  “So if we want to find out who Sir Steve is,” she nodded to the mystery man, “I guess we'll have to ask Aaron Apple.  He's coming up to Inverness tomorrow to talk to the police about Mr. Pierce's statues.”
“We'd better be there, then,” Nat decided.  “Maybe when he leaves he can give me a ride back to Dundee.”  How would her car insurance company classify a vehicle destroyed by being buried in a collapsed building?  Did her policy cover terrorist acts?  She'd never actually looked.  “And we'll need Sir Steve, obviously.” If the statues were modern, then their best theory for his identity was still as the model for them.
Sir Stephen himself scraped the last crumbs off his plate and at them, then set down his cutlery.  “I will accompany you back to Inverness,” he said, “but I am nearly well again, and I must soon gather my allies and resume following the Red Death, so that he cannot find the Grail.  Therefore, I must ask for the return of my arms and armor.  Where are they?”
“They're being held for safekeeping on Burnett Road,” said DI Carter.  “If you want to press charges against your assailant, we might need to keep them as evidence.”
“What does it mean to press charges?” Sir Stephen asked.
“Take him to court,” Carter clarified.  “Put him in jail, or... what did they do with criminals back then?”  She looked at Natasha for the answer.
“Stick him in the stocks and let people throw fruit at him?” Nat suggested.
“Oh, I like that,” said Wilson.  “Why don't we do that anymore?”
Sir Stephen shook his head.  “If it were truly the Red Death and Zola, I want no such easy fate,” he said.  “I prefer to meet them in single combat.”
“I don't think that's legal,” Natasha observed.
“I wouldn't be so sure,” DI Carter warned.  “You wouldn't believe some of the medieval laws that are still on the books in this country.”
“Like what?” Dr. Wilson asked, interested.
“Like if a dead whale washes ashore in Scotland, the head is considered the property of the king, and the tail of the queen,” Carter replied.  “That was a bit of a problem a couple of years ago, actually, when a guy found one and wanted the bones for his artwork.”
“What happened?” asked Dr. Wilson.
“Once somebody actually contacted the Queen, she just gave it to him,” DI Carter replied.  “I mean, what's she going to do with it?”
A car alarm began going off somewhere outside.  Everybody ignored it, including Sir Stephen, who must have thought it couldn't be very important if nobody else were bothered by it.  “I beg your pardon,” he said, “but my things?”
“Right.”  DI Carter sat up to explain the process to him.  “If you don't want it held as evidence, you can get your stuff back by requesting the voucher.  Since you were unconscious we'll have kept it at the station.  They'll have a list of what we've got that's yours, and all you have to do is ask for it.”
“Then I must insist on doing that first,” said Sir Stephen.  “I will need them for when I meet the Red Death again.”
“What makes you so sure it was the Red Death who hurt you?” asked DI Carter.
“The last thing I remember before waking up in your hospital was battle with him,” Sir Stephen said, as if this were a very stupid question.  When he put it that way, maybe it was.
The alarm outside was suddenly joined by two or three others, one a wailing alarm like the first and the other a repeatedly honking horn. A siren became audible, drawing closer and closer, and people in the hotel common room were starting to sit up and look around.
“Well, if we're all going back to Inverness together,” said Dr. Wilson, “we can...”
The door of the hotel flew open and a woman ran inside.  “Darren!” she shouted.  “The Mum's come for her bairn!”
“What?” an Irish accent demanded.  A group of four men had been playing cards in a corner – now they all jumped to their feet. Natasha recognized one of them, with a set of wrap sunglasses pushed up above his forehead, as the man from the news who claimed to have captured the monster.  He looked at the woman in thedoorway, who nodded, and the man panicked.  He shoved his companions of the way, dashed out the door, and went scurrying off down the hill yelling, “no!  No!”  The woman ran after him.
Nobody else said anything, but nobody in the hotel – tourists, employees, reporters, or men who thought they were eleventh-century knights – wanted to miss whatever was going on.  Everyone got up, en masse, and followed the cryptozoologists to see what had happened.
What greeted them in the car park was almost beyond belief.  Vehicle lights were flashing and alarms were blaring, and the cryptozoologist was standing there with a flashlight, yelling and waving it in an attempt to scare away a much larger version of his captive creature. This animal was the size of a rhinoceros, with a seal-like head on a four-foot neck, broad pectoral flippers and narrow hind ones with no tail.  It was about as close as a marine mammal could get to the dinosaur shape people thought of as the Loch Ness Monster, and it was not at all interested in the chaos around it.  It was halfway up on the truck, rocking the vehicle as if it were trying to mate with it.
Nobody said anything.  There was nothing that could possibly be said.
The creature continued to lunge against the truck until it knocked it on its side, and the cage with the baby creature in it rolled out. The juvenile was now barking excitedly, whether in fear or pain or just calling for its mother was impossible to say.  It continued to make noise as the adult rolled the cage around the car park, pushing vehicles aside and setting off more and more alarms, until it finally broke open and the young creature inside was free.
“Stop!  Stop!” the monster-hunter ordered helplessly, and then was force to dive out of the way as both creatures began flopping their way back down the slope, south towards the River Moriston.  If he hadn't, they would simply have bowled him right over.
The rest of the people who'd come out of the hotel – and a number of other houses and buildings nearby – were just standing around staring.  Natasha took a couple of steps backwards to rejoin her own party.
“Well,” said Dr. Wilson, licking his lips.  “I guess that happened.”
Slowly, the crowd dispersed – leaving Darren the cryptozoologist sobbing in the car park, with his female friend trying tocomfort him – and Nat and the others started back up the hill to the hotel.
“Do you call that evidence of monsters?” Sir Stephen asked DI Carter, smiling.
“I would say that particular lead has definitely brought me to some kind of reality,” she replied, a little dazed, “but I don't know what kind.”
They walked slowly back up to the hotel, and arrived to find a red caravan in the driveway out front.  The horn honked, a window came down, and a silver-haired black woman leaned out to wave to them.
“Sam!” she called.
Dr. Wilson's face brightened.  “Mum!” he said, waving to her. “I told you, you didn't have to run out here.  I can get an Uber!”
“No reason for you to have to pay for an Uber when I can get you,” Mrs. Wilson replied firmly.  She took off her seat belt and opened her arms, and Dr. Wilson went up to give her a hug.  “I'm so glad you're all right,” she said.  “I could see all the dust hanging over the city, and when I realized where it was coming from I nearly had a heart attack!”
“I'm fine, Mum,” he assured her.  “I'm fine.  I'm thinking about renewing my helicopter license.”
“That might be a good idea,” Mrs. Wilson agreed.  “Now, you can't refuse a ride now that I'm here, so grab your stuff and get in.”  She looked past him at the rest of the group.  “Do your friends want to come?  I have room.”
“I would be much obliged,” said Sir Stephen.  “I do not know what has become of my horse.”
“Same,” said Natasha, deadpan.
Dr. Wilson opened the back door of the van for them.  “Everybody, this is my mother, Darlene.  Mum, this is Detective Inspector Sharon Carter from Inverness, Dr. Natalie Rushman from Dundee, and, uh.. Sir Steve, he's one of my patients.”
“Delighted to meet you all,” Mrs. Wilson said.  She was in her sixties, with her hair very short and big chandelier earrings, and a bright smile in a face full of laugh lines.  “I imagine you've had a very exciting evening.”
“You might say that,” said Dr. Wilson.
“We got to watch the Loch Ness Monster shag a lorry,” said DI Carter.
The smile on Mrs. Wilson's face faded as she tried to figure out what that meant.  When nobody offered any evidence that it was a joke, she just shrugged and started the van's engine.  “Well, it's not every day you see that,” she said.
It was a forty-five minute drive from Invermoriston back up to Inverness on the A82, and for almost the entire trip the road ran along the top of an embankment that plunged down into the Loch itself on their right.  Mrs. Wilson kept up a steady stream of chatter about various things, and her son occasionally answered her questions or repeated that no, he was not dating at the moment and was really too busy to think about it.  Everybody else just sat staring out their windows at the dark waters of the lake, hoping to see some sign of life.  If anyone did, they didn't mention it.
At nearly two in the morning they arrived in the city, and the group split in two.  Mrs. Wilson dropped her son off at his own flat, and Sir Stephen got out with him.  Nat wondered if they'd go to bed right away, or if Sir Stephen would keep Dr. Wilson up late telling more of the fantastical story of his life.  DI Carter then gave Mrs. Wilson directions to her own small house, where the woman let her and Natasha out.
“It was lovely meeting you,” Mrs. Wilson said.  “I don't know if you heard, but Sam hasn't had a girlfriend in about six months now, and...”
“He does seem like a nice guy, Mrs. Wilson,” said DI Carter. “Good night.”
Natasha had used to be very good at going without sleep, but a few years of living on a normal person's schedule had undone some of her training.  She was yawning as they went indoors.  She hadn't asked if she could spent the night at Carter's, and Carter hadn't offered. Both of them simply seemed to accept that it would happen.
“You want anything to eat?” Carter asked.
“No, I'd rather go straight to bed,” Natasha replied.
“Me, too,” Carter admitted.  She pulled some cushions off the sofa so she could fold it out for Nat to sleep on.  “I hope we get this all figured out,” she said.  “Who is this nutter and what has he got to do with Mr. Pierce, what happened to Mr. Pierce and statues and goblins and monsters and... ugh.”  She shook her head.  “Usually I want to know what's going on so that those who deserve it can get justice.  With this mess I just want to figure it out because I'll be furious if I never get an answer.”
“Yeah,” said Natasha.  “Hopefully this Apple guy will have some answers.”  If he didn't, she had no idea who would.  Even if he could tell them who Sir Stephen really was, though... why were the statues so important?  Who was Zola?  Where was Mr. Pierce and who or what had destroyed the hospital?  This was not a simple mystery, and there would be no simple answers.
“Hey,” she said, as Carter started to leave the room.  “Uh... has anybody told Sir Steve that it's not 1066 anymore, or does he just think Scotland is a country of brilliant engineers while England's in the middle ages?”
“I sure didn't tell him,” Carter replied.
“Somebody's going to have to,” Natasha said with a frown.
“Well,” Carter stifled a yawn.  “That'll be fun, too.”

Jaisalmer Tourism | Jaisalmer Attractions
Jaisalmer Tourism
Jaisalmer is where you need to journey.  The city of Jaisalmer also acts as the guard to western Rajasthan (and India’s) frontier. This 'Golden City’ is located close to the Pakistan border and in close proximity to the Thar Desert. The city’s most prominent landmark is the Jaisalmer Fort, also called Sonar Qila (Golden Fort). Unlike most other forts in India, Jaisalmer Fort is not just a tourist attraction. It houses shops, hotels and ancient havelis (homes) where generations continue to live.
Tumblr media
Jaisalmer traces its inception to the 12th century. History tells us of Rawal Jaisal, the eldest heir of the Rawal of Deoraj, was passed over for the throne of Lodurva and a younger half-brother was crowned king. Rawal Jaisal went looking for a new location to set up his capital when he came across sage Eesul. The sage told him about Krishna’s prophecy which said that a descendant of his Yaduvanshi clan would found a new kingdom at this same spot. It was in 1156 that Rawal Jaisal constructed a mud fort, named it Jaisalmer after himself and declared it his capital.
Famous 19 Places To Visit  In Jaisalmer :-
AMAR SAGAR LAKE :-
Amar Sagar Lake, located about 7 km towards the western outskirts of Jaisalmer, is a lake cum oasis lying adjacent to the Amar Singh Palace. The palace itself was built in the 17 th century. The complex that includes the palace and the lake is also home to several ponds and wells, along with an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Numerous figureheads of animals carved in stone surround the lake, and according to legends, these carved figureheads are supposed to be protectors of the royal family. At one end, there are pavilions with stairs that lead down to the lake; while at the other end is a beautiful, aesthetically carved Jain temple. A peaceful and tranquil place, the Amar Sagar Lake is yet another spot in Jaisalmer where you have an opportunity to watch a gorgeous sunset.
Tumblr media
TANOT MATA TEMPLE :-
Some 120 kilometres away from Jaisalmer is the Tanot Mata Temple. Tanot Mata is considered to be a reincarnation of Goddess Hinglaj. There are many stories of how during the 1965 India-Pakistan war, Tanot was under heavy attack and shelling. However, none of the shells or bombs fired at the temple exploded. This reaffirmed people’s faith that Goddess the temple. Post the war, the Border Security Force (BSF) rebuilt the temple and today, the temple is managed by a BSF Trust.
BADA BAGH :-
About 6 kilometres to the north of Jaisalmer lies Bada Bagh, also called Barabagh (literally Big Garden). This garden complex houses chhatris or royal cenotaphs of the Maharajas of Jaisalmer state, including that of Jai Singh II. The location of the garden is such that it offers wonderful sunset vistas to tourists.
JAIN TEMPLES OF JAISALMER :-
The Jain Temples located inside the Jaisalmer Fort date back to the 12th and 15th centuries. The temples are dedicated to Rikhabdevji and Shambhavdevji, famous Jain hermits known as 'Tirthankars' (wise teachers who taught people how to attain nirvana). Like all other structures in Jaisalmer, the temples are carved out of yellow sandstone. They have been built in the famed Dilwara style which is known for its beautiful architecture.
Tumblr media
GADISAR LAKE :-
Gadisar Lake was constructed in the 14th century by Maharawal Gadsi Singh to meet the water needs of his arid lands. Considering its importance, many small temples and shrines were constructed around it, transforming it into a pilgrimage centre and a tourist attraction.
PATWON KI HAVELI :-
Among the largest and the most elaborately carved havelis in Jaisalmer, this five-storey structure sits proudly in a narrow street. While the haveli has lost some of its early glory, a few paintings and mirror work art can still be seen on the inside walls.
MANDIR PALACE :-
The five-storeyed majesty of the Badal Mahal (Cloud Palace) is further enhanced by its pagoda-like Tazia Tower. Each floor of the palace has an intricately carved balcony. The Badal Palace owes its beauty to the skills of Muslim craftsmen who moulded the tower in the shape of a Tazia (a float that’s part of the procession of Muharram).
Tumblr media
NATHMAL JI KI HAVELI :-
Two architect brothers built Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli in the 19th century. They worked on the haveli from two sides and the outcome is a beautiful blend of the symmetrical construction. Miniature style paintings and mighty tuskers carved out of yellow sandstone are used for decoration.
SALIM SINGH KI HAVELI :-
This haveli was built in the first half of the 18th century and a part of it is still occupied by descendants of the original residents. The high arched roof is supported by carved brackets designed in the shape of peacocks. Legend has it that there were two additional wooden storeys that made it match the Maharaja's palace in height, but he ordered for the upper level to be demolished.
JAISALMER GOVERNMENT MUSEUM :-
Established by the Department of Archaeology and Museums, it is a prime attraction for tourists visiting Jaisalmer. The most striking display is the trophy of Rajasthan‘s state bird Godawan (the great Indian bustard). Traditional household items, rock-cut crockery, jewellery and statues from the 7th and 9th century AD displayed here are remnants of the city’s rich cultural heritage.
Tumblr media
JAISALMER FORT :-
The Jaisalmer Fort also goes by the name Sonar Quila (Golden Fort) as it rises from the desert itself and seems to become one with the golden hues of the sand. The setting sun adds its own magic and shrouds the fort with mystique. The fort is constructed in the classic style of the royals by local craftsmen. This fort is a world heritage site and forms an important plot point in one of Satyajit Ray’s famous Feluda stories and corresponding movie, Sonar Kela (The Golden Fortress).
DESERT NATIONAL PARK :-
The Desert National Park displays the best of the Thar desert’s ecosystem and its varied wildlife. The Park is formed of undulating sand dunes, jagged rocks, dense salt lake bottoms and inter-medial areas. Various species of animals such as black buck, chinkara and desert fox inhabit the Park. The highly endangered Great Indian Bustard, one of the world's heaviest flying birds, can also be seen here. In winter, the park hosts an incredible variety of migratory raptors such Himalayan and Eurasian Griffon Vultures, Eastern Imperial Eagle, and the Saker Falcon.
KULDHARA VILLAGE :-
The underlying history of Kuldhara has piqued the curiosity of one visitor too many, and makes it one of the most enigmatic destinations to visit in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The story has a beautiful daughter, an unscrupulous minister, scared villagers, an exodus in the middle of the night, and no idea where the villagers vanished. This is not the story of a movie, but the unfathomable legend that lies behind the abandoned village of Kuldhara. Located about 18 km from the city of Jaisalmer is this old town that was abandoned by its villagers in the 1800s. It was like the entire town vanished in the course of a single night. With about 85 villages full of people, it remains a mystery as to how no one saw them leave; in fact, even to this date, no one knows where all of them went either. The village remains uninhabited to the day, in the same state that the villagers had left it, hundreds of years ago. The location has become a major tourist destination as people from all over the world travel here to revel in the mysteries of the past. The desolate outline of Kuldhara etches a story in front of your eyes, if you are keen enough to read it!

JAISALMER WAR MUSEUM :-
“If you ate today, thank a farmer, and if you ate in peace, thank a soldier!” Our military and defense forces spend their days facing perils and hardships, so the citizens of India can sleep peacefully. While we all appreciate and hold respect for all they do for us, the Indian Army has commemorated the sacrifices of their soldiers in a beautiful display at this war museum, situated at the Jaisalmer military base. This exhibit is primarily to pay respect to all the soldiers who took part and lost their lives in the 1965 India-Pakistan war and the 1971 Longewala battle. A visit to this museum lets you see a number of captured tanks and other memorabilia from the battle, instilling a sense of immense pride in your country and its soldiers. The museum also features an audio-visual room where they screen movies about the battle. You can also see an interview with Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri who was a crucial part of the Longewala battle. In the video, he gives a detailed description of how the soldiers fought the Longewala battle.
The museum also has a war memorial replete with many war trophies and vintage equipment, along with tanks, guns, and military vehicles, murals of soldiers who lost their lives in the war, and weapons which were used during the same. Even the Air Force has given a Hunter aircraft, which was used during the Battle of Longewala in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, as a present to the museum. Located on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur Highway, the museum has free entry, and holds a very important part of our country’s history. It is truly one of the places that you cannot afford to miss.
RAMDEVRA TEMPLE :-
Located 12 kilometres from Pokhran on the Jodhpur – Jaisalmer route lies Ramdevra Temple. While most people assume it is a temple dedicated Lord Ram, it is in fact, dedicated to renowned saint Baba Ramdevji. The temple marks the eternal resting place of Baba Ramdevji and is visited by people of all faiths. Between August and September, a large fair known as Ramdevra Fair is held here, and it attracts large numbers of devotees who sing devotional songs all night long.
LONGEWALA WAR MEMORIAL :-
One of the first major engagements in the Western sector during the Indo Pakistani War of 1971, the Battle of Laungewala is an inspiring tale of courage in the face of unconquerable odds. A shining example of the courage, bravery, and valor of the Indian soldiers, the Battle of Laungewala created history on 4 December, 1971, when about a hundred Indian defenders halted the advancing troops of about 2000 Pakistani soldiers and 60 tanks. To celebrate the grit and steely resolve of the Indian soldiers who stalled Pakistani forces from their aim of cutting deep into the Indian Territory, the Desert Corps at Laungewala have constructed the Laungewala Was Memorial. An inspiring destination, this war memorial commemorates the valor and the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers, instilling in you a sense of pride when you visit this site

AKAL WOOD FOSSIL PARK :-
Rajasthan is a treasure trove of history and historical artifacts, but one place in particular takes you beyond the ‘timeline of present’, right into the prehistoric Jurassic era. The Akal Wood Fossil Park is a 21-hectare preserved area that lies about 17 km from Jaisalmer, towards Barmer.180 million years ago, a forest used to stand where the park is today. The area was then submersed into the sea and the tree trunks were preserved in the form of fossils. With remnants of fallen and broken logs that date back to the pre-historic times, the park is an absolute must-visit attraction. Here, you can see large fossilized trunks from trees of different sizes that have been placed in corrugated iron shelters. There are about 25 numb trees, along with centuries-old fossils, and right at the entrance, you can also stroke a fossil of an ancient red-wood tree trunk. In the geological area that had only non-flowering trees, an entire forest comprising of huge trees was fossilized. The presence of these gigantic trees suggests that in the lower Jurassic age, the area had hot and humid climate that was able to support a luxuriant forest, as compared to the stark dry climate of today.
VYAS CHHATRI :-
Vyas Chhatri is one of the most beautiful examples of Rajasthani architecture. This old Brahmin cemetery, full of local versions of cenotaphs, is dedicated to Ved Vyaas, the sage who wrote the epic, Mahabharata. Filled with cenotaphs all throughout, this place is more popularly referred to as the sunset point of Jaisalmer. Every evening, hordes of people visit the Vyas Chhatri to get a glimpse of the beautiful desert sunset. Everywhere around here you can see beautiful golden sandstone chhatris that are covered in intricate and delicate carvings. A popular destination among tourists, Vyas Chhatri offers a bird’s eye view of Jaisalmer, the fort, and even the adjoining areas. Visitors can also witness a number of locals at Vyas Chhatri, playing Rajasthani tunes on the algoza, a double fluted instrument, making it an experience that astounds the senses.

Drones, Take Two & Stargate
Welcome, hello, G’Day, hi, we are glad to announce the latest episode from Nerds Amalgamated is here. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it for you. Also as Supanova Brisbane has now happened we have to say thank you to all those who stopped by the booth, it was fantastic to meet you all. We hope everyone enjoyed the week end and have lots of photos to remember how cool it was. It was awesome seeing so many amazing cosplayers and catching up with our friends from Comics2Movies, the Sons of Obiwan, Jamie Johnson, Super Tee, Cyanide Pop Press among so many others.
First up this week we have facial recognition drones being utilised by Police Scotland to help find people who get lost. That’s right folks, AI drones using facial recognition to find individuals. Now, we know what you are thinking, hang on, this is a problem, next we know it will be used for… You will need to listen in to find out more. But we are sure you will enjoy it and have a laugh.
Second, we have news that is promising for game developers and gamers all over the world. Yep, that is a bold claim, but we are sure you will agree when you hear it. Those legends at Take Two have discussed the future of gaming and the expectations of a drop in the costs of game development. What is suggested is great and worth looking forward to. We have some fun on this topic and really get into it.
Our third topic for the week is about Stargate Command. No, the Goa'uld aren’t attacking, and the Wraith haven’t found the way through the Stargate to our universe. No, it is sad news, but possibly good news also. That’s right, a little bit of good news to look forward to that off sets the bad news. Now for the fans of Stargate this news is pretty big, and for those who need to evolve their appreciation then you better hurry up. The Professor and Buck are now contemplating a marathon viewing based on this news. Want to know what this news is you know what to do.
As normal we have the shout outs, birthdays, remembrances, and special events. As always, thank you for listening, take care of yourselve’s, look out for each other and stay hydrated.

Thus, began a monumental excavation process in which Carter carefully explored the four-room tomb over several years, uncovering an incredible collection of several thousand objects. The most splendid architectural find was a stone sarcophagus containing three coffins nested within each other. Inside the final coffin, which was made from solid gold, was the mummy of the boy-king Tutankhamen, preserved for more than 3,000 years. Most of these treasures are now housed in the Cairo Museum. - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/entrance-to-king-tuts-tomb-discovered

Trump calls for death penalty for Uzbek man charged in New York attack

Trump calls for death penalty for Uzbek man charged in New York attack
NEW YORK (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said the Uzbek immigrant accused of killing eight people when he drove a truck down a New York City bike path should get the death penalty.
Sayfullo Saipov, the suspect in the New York City truck attack, is seen in this courtroom sketch appearing in Manhattan federal courtroom in a wheelchair in New York, NY, U.S., November 1, 2017. REUTERS/Jane Rosenberg
The suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, told investigators he was inspired by watching Islamic State videos and began planning Tuesday’s attack a year ago, according to a criminal complaint filed against him on Wednesday.
Saipov, 29, also said “he felt good about what he had done” and asked for permission to display the flag of the militant group Islamic State in his hospital room, the complaint said.
“NYC terrorist was happy as he asked to hang ISIS flag in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, badly injured 12. SHOULD GET DEATH PENALTY!” Trump tweeted late on Wednesday.
Saipov faces two charges, one of which carries the death penalty if the government chooses to seek it, Manhattan acting U.S. Attorney Joon Kim said.
The charges are one count of violence and destruction of motor vehicles causing the deaths of eight people and one count of providing material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization – Islamic State, also known as ISIS.
The maximum penalty for the first is death; the maximum for the second life in prison, Kim said.
The charging document said Saipov waived his rights to remain silent, avoid self-incrimination and have an attorney present when he agreed to speak to investigators from his bed at Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan, where he was being treated after being shot by a police officer.
It said he was particularly motivated by a video where Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – the leader of Islamic State – exhorted Muslims in the United States and elsewhere to support the group’s cause.
Investigators found thousands of ISIS-related propaganda images and videos on Saipov’s cellphone, the complaint said. Among them were video clips showing ISIS prisoners being beheaded, run over by a tank and shot in the face.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said it had located another Uzbek man, Mukhammadzoir Kadirov, 32, wanted for questioning as a person of interest in the attack.

U.S. law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing, told Reuters that Saipov had been in contact with Kadirov and another person of interest in the investigation.
ASSAULT DEADLIEST SINCE SEPT. 11, 2001
Tuesday’s assault was the deadliest in New York City since the attack on Sept. 11, 2001, when hijackers crashed two jetliners into the World Trade Center, killing more than 2,600 people.
Five Argentine tourists, a Belgian, a New Yorker and a New Jersey man were killed in the attack.
Saipov, who lived in Paterson, New Jersey, allegedly used a pickup truck rented from a New Jersey Home Depot to run down pedestrians and cyclists along a 20-block stretch of the Manhattan bike path, before slamming into a school bus.
He got out of the truck shouting “Allahu Akbar” – Arabic for “God is greatest” – and brandishing what turned out to be a paint-ball gun and a pellet gun, authorities said, before a police officer shot him.
Seated in a wheelchair, Saipov appeared for a hearing in Manhattan federal court on Wednesday before Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses. Public defense attorney David Patton was appointed to represent him.
Saipov did not ask for bail and was remanded to federal custody. It was not immediately clear where he would be held.
Earlier in the day, Trump said he would consider sending Saipov to the military prison at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. No detainee has been sent to the Guantanamo prison since 2008.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders later told reporters that Trump considers Saipov an “enemy combatant,” a designation that would curtail his legal rights. Trump called him “this animal” and lambasted the U.S. justice system for terrorism suspects as “a joke” and “a laughingstock”.
Kim said charging Saipov in civilian court would not necessarily prevent him from later being declared an enemy combatant.
