Pleasantly surprised to be in one of these, so let’s go
Favorite series: *Gestures to icon* Is it any surprise I’ll be picking GX? I love GX with all my heart and soul. The story’s pacing is very good and never feels like it’s dragging its feet to get to where it’s going, most duels are over in less than a full episode with the longest one being three, there are so many good characters to get invested in, and this boy right here is your protagonist.
Look at him blow kisses to the audience after beating Crowler, how could anyone not love Jaden Yuki? I care him so much. Even the filler episodes in GX are pretty fun to watch most of the time, and it’s the good kind of filler that may not advance the plot much or at all, but it’ll give you plenty of good memories to take with you. Who could possibly forget the eggwich thief? Not to mention the soundtrack fucking slaps.
Favorite protagonist: I mean...
Yeah it’s Jaden. GX hooked me immediately when I started watching it because of how much I loved this boy. He’s that perfect mix of cocky and sweet when it comes to dueling because he’s confident in his own abilities, but he never stops having fun and being amazed at what his opponent can do, he cares about all of his friends and does his best to help them with their problems, he’s kind to strangers, and he has exactly half a brain cell.
I feel the gif speaks for itself, but Jaden’s dialogue when he turns around here is “I’m such a sucker for things like this! I’ll help you, ma’am!” Dorothy says “No, you’ll be late... Don’t you have a test today?” And Jaden replies with “Who cares if I’m late? I couldn’t leave a lady in trouble!” Jaden Yuki is my absolute favorite protagonist.
Favorite rival: Oh man is that a tough one. Am I allowed to pick two? It’s a hard call to make between this dumb edgy bitch-
And this dumb gay bitch
Honestly they’re tied for favorite rival in my book. I absolutely loved Chazz when I watched GX, and I thought his arc about breaking through his inferiority/superiority complex and learning to accept loss as a part of life without letting it define him was wonderfully written, and seeing him grow as a person throughout the show just made me feel happy for him. Shark... I really thought I wasn’t going to end up liking Shark at first, but god he just gets so much better as Zexal goes on, starting out as this mean spirited middle school bully in episode one, and slowly ending up as Yuma’s boyfriend closest friend. It’s incredible to look back at how Shark acts when he’s first introduced and compare it to... season 3, I think it was, where just hearing the words “Yuma’s in danger” is enough to send him running to his rival’s side. Chazz and Shark. They are my favorites.
Favorite BFF: Him
Crow Hogan is an absolute treasure and he was my favorite part about watching 5Ds. This little bird man first gets introduced by stealing cards for his kids and clowning on Sector Security, and he’s a source of so much good throughout the show. Excellent best friend (technically brother but I’m counting him), wonderful father, 10/10 person all around. Plus the fact that the only thing stopping him from berating his bitchass brother even more was Yusei having to literally pick him up and pull him away is definitely extra points in my book. What a powerful little bird. His only weakness is people that are taller than him, which is unfortunately most people.
Favorite GFF:
Yuzu. Have I actually watched Arc V yet? No, but I’m still picking Yuzu for my number one here. Tea and Tori are just awful characters, I’m neutral towards Alexis, and Akiza... Did have potential to be something interesting on her own, despite how uncomfortable she made me in seasons 1-2 of 5Ds, but her relevance is alllll downhill from there. I’ve seen one clip of Yuzu yelling at a man eating pie and calling him a 100th rate duelist, and that was all I needed to know she would be my favorite. (Clip here)
Favorite villain: Oh boy
The fuckin carrot is my favorite villain, and I say this as someone who fully believes he didn’t deserve to be in the last episode. Vector did some fucked up shit in his day, and he only continued to do fucked up shit in Yuma’s day, but I have to say he was pretty effective when it came down to his goals. He got things done and went right for what he wanted by taking direct action to seize Don Thousand’s power, and he manipulated Yuma perfectly by preying on his kind nature and love for Astral to use him to further his goals.
...Plus I mean just look at his subbed dialogue God he’s such a slut. Evil slutty alien.
Tl;dr Vector was a horrible horrible person, but he was a good villain, and he was so entertaining whenever he was on screen that it was impossible not to like him. Still kinda wish he got what he deserved though, and what he deserved definitely wasn’t another chance.
Speaking of Don Thousand though, can we talk about how unfairly pretty he is? If I had to pick a runner up villain in terms of looks alone, it would definitely be him.
God it was not fair how pretty the big bad of Zexal was. He’s fucking gorgeous, and in my opinion, the best looking villain at the very least.
Favorite card: *Sweats in Duel Links* Favorite? There’s so many cards out there to pick from, but since I’ve already broken the rules with my two favorite rivals, I’ll be picking two of each card type: Spells, traps, and monsters. One for the aesthetic, and one for how often I make use of it.
First up, the Aesthetics group
What can I say, Vampiric Koala is such a cutie, Dwimmered Path has some really pretty card art, and Rainbow Life is an eternal flex on any heteros I may encounter while playing Duel Links. Nothing better than a gay trap card.
Now for usability
Dragon Knight of Creation is suuuper helpful in any dragon themed deck and has a permanent slot in my decks for Mokuba and Kaiba, PoG is always a fun way to boost up weak monsters to ridiculous heights, and Dark Bribe just lets you block your opponent like “Okay I know you wanna hurt me but I will let you draw another card if you do not do that thing”, and they can’t refuse you.
Favorite episode: I’ll be copying cipher’s format here and picking one for each series, but this will still only total out to five for me since I’ve yet to watch past Zexal ^^; Soon I’ll get to Arc V! One day...
Season 0: Episode 16: Turnabout by a Hair's Breadth - The White-Robed Crisis I’m a sucker for my son Joey, and this was a good Joey episode about him and his sister, plus it was nice seeing that doctor get what he deserved :) Duel Monsters: Season 5, episode 12-14: The Deciding Match for Duel King - Yugi vs. Leon/Golden Castle of Stromberg/KC Grand Prix Ends Probably a weird batch of episodes to pick, I know, but a lot of DM was kinda forgettable to me, and these are some of the few episodes I do recall. I just... really felt for Leon’s situation, and I wanted good things for that boy. I care him. GX: Season 3, episode 34: Dark Fusion! Inferno Wing!! Jim. Jim Jim Jimmmmm. This was the episode that finally made me understand why saviorshipping was a thing because it hits you with all these memories Jim has of Jaden and shows how they bonded before all this Dark World shit happened, and the whole thing was very emotional. 5Ds: Season 4, episode 2-3: Recollections, Entrusted with a Friend's Dying Wish God Crow, my precious bird son. I really liked the backstory they gave him, despite how much it hurt. It was probably the best character development he got in the whole of 5Ds, and let you see a side to him you probably wouldn’t expect. I loved watching him get his justice. Zexal II: Season 2, episode 5-6: Alito the Silent Fighter - Reunion of the Passionate Duelists!/ Be Revived! The Duelist Soul That Transcends Life!! I picked these episodes for Nistro and Nistro alone. He was one of my absolute favorites in Zexal, and seeing how well he and Dextra were doing was good for the soul. Just look at this good lion man right here.
Look at him!!!
Favorite decks to use: Elemental Heroes, Aromages, Red Eyes, Six Samurai, and Crystal Beasts.
Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, or Link: I’m a simple girl, I love fusion/tributes for how easy they are, but synchro can be pretty fun, too
Years in fandom: ??? Even I don’t know the answer to this one, friends. I used to be in the fandom when I was in middle school, wrote/read a few fanfics here and there, but then I fell out of it for... Well I’m 22 now and only got back into things 6 months ago? I started rewatching the abridged series of Duel Monsters in March, and from there I just wanted to consume actual Yugioh content and never went back.

Free Fall
Chapter 4 of Ricochet (An Open Heart AU)
Catch up here: Prologue | Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3
Chapter Synopsis: Bryce takes Heather out to distract her, while a real threat looms closer than ever.
Pairing: Rafael Aveiro x MC (Dr. Heather Song) | Bryce Lahela x MC (Dr. Heather Song)
Words: 1.9k | Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller, Romance
Rating/Warnings: Mature (16+) / hints of violence, stalking
Author’s Notes: I always wanted to try trampoline basketball (not sure if that's the right term?), it looked cool on videos. BUT lockdown happened, so here I am manifesting what could've been a great date night alternative. I have also long imagined to bounce around in slow motion while the chorus of Fallin' All In You by Shawn Mendes was playing on the background. Hope I made the wait for this chapter worth it. Also, disclaimer: majority of the characters are owned by Pixelberry, except the main character Heather Song.
Please let me know if you want me to tag you for the rest of this series. Thank you for reading!
Jordan whistled as he walked through the off-white hallways, pushing a cart full of cleaning supplies forward. Although he knew that this was just a temp job, a means to an ends, it didn't mean he can't enjoy its perks.
His gray overall was already damp, as he just finished mopping the hallways of the building's seventh floor. He was heading to his last assignment for the day, which was also his favorite. His black sneakers squeaked against the tiled floor, but he didn't seem to mind. He was feeling accomplished today, seeing his art splayed across the local news. He gave himself a mental pat on the back, knowing he's running closer toward the finish line of his master plan.
He adjusted his baseball cap before tapping his key card on the scanner by the glass door, then stepped inside the empty office.
He cleared the tables of assorted food wrappers in record time. But there was a table where he liked to linger a little bit longer.
His fingers grazed on the surface of the desk - she always kept hers tidy. He read through the pages of the medical books browsing where bookmarks were sandwiched in, trying to get an idea of where she left off. He then reached out to the purple bottle of hand cream on the left side of the computer screen, and pumped it to get a few drops on his palms. He loved the jasmine scent of it, reminding him of the same fragrance of the clothes in her closet.
He tapped on the keyboard and the screen display came to life, revealing a picture of her and her mother when she was a teenager. He logged himself in, checking her emails. He found what he was looking for, and took a picture of the itinerary using his phone. He closed the applications and locked the computer, the screen display reverting back to the wallpaper earlier. He smiled sadly as he looked on, thinking what a waste it will be when her day of reckoning comes. It's a pity that she threw herself in the middle of a crossfire, so he had no choice. He felt bad for her, recalling the months of stalking he did to know her life. He always thought she was no different from him, alone in a city, no parents to turn to, no one but themselves to rely on.
After switching off the computer monitor, he retrieved his cleaning supplies and sprayed a disinfectant on the surface of her desk. He was about to wipe it when he heard the distinct beep of the electronic lock, followed by the subsequent opening of the glass door behind him.
"Oh, hey Pete," Heather waved at him as she approached. "Sorry for uhm, interrupting. I'm just here to get some of my books."
He tried to hide his initial shock, grinning goofily at her then stepped back from her desk. "No problem, doc. I'll get out of your hair so you could do whatcha have to do."
She smiled back at him. "No, no need. I'll just grab these," she took the bundle of books sitting on top of her desk, "and then these..." she trailed off as she unlocked the drawers and retrieved a small bottle of the hand cream and a few markers. She put the small items in her purse and stepped back.
"Thanks, Pete. I'll see you around," she bid him goodbye, hastily getting out of the diagnostics office.
Jordan followed her figure until she was out of his sight. He then approached the glass windows and slid his fingers in between the blinds, waiting until he saw her crossing the parking lot and got into a familiar silver Camry.
Aha, so you're with the ADA. No wonder he didn't see her with the special agent. She stayed with someone else.
It was smart for her to stay somewhere he wouldn't expect. But it didn't matter now. Phase 2 didn't concern where she lived at the moment. His lips twisted into a sinister smile, knowing she never had a clue of what was to come.
Oh doc, I'll see you soon.
***
Bryce honked his horn the moment he saw what was cradled in her arms. "Nerd alert!" he shouted.
"Ugh, shut up!" she groaned, her eyes rolling as she dropped the books into the backseat of his car.
"Seriously, Heath, you are such a dork. It's Sunday!" he said as he began driving out of Edenbrook's parking lot.
She snapped on her seat belt and leaned back, crossing her arms. "You are a hypocrite, Lahela! Deep down you know we are on the same league," she said as she glared at him.
"Nope, not at the moment, I'm no hypocrite. Do you even see me checking my phone for emails?"
"Psh, you're driving, you just can't," she ruffled her bangs, annoyed. "So, what's the plan here?"
"Lighten up, Doctor Song, have some little spontaneity!" he shuffled his shoulders as he said the last word. "I promised to distract you today, did you not trust this handsome face when you said so this morning?" Bryce pouted in an effort to mock her.
She huffed in reply, settling into silence. She did trust him. She trusted him last night when she poured out her heartbreak to him. She also chose to trust him this morning, taking up his offer to go out today. He gave a convincing pitch about what he had planned for the day. But really, Heather would take any opportunity to get her mind off from the incidents of the past two days.
Besides, it was easy to say yes to Bryce. She was comfortable around him. He reminded her of her carefree days before her life all went downhill. He balanced her out, his dazzling personality never failed to brighten up even the starkest days for Heather. And this was her darkest season in recent memory. It was just apt to let someone like Bryce shine upon it.
So she agreed to leave at noon, but asked to swing by the hospital to get some of her books so she could catch up on some reading. She wanted to stay sharp since she'll be flying back to Maryland to continue her cancer research.
Now they're driving along the freeway, she had no idea where their car is headed. After almost an hour, Bryce took an exit and then a few turns, before entering a parking lot full of cars.
"We're here!" he said as he tapped the steering wheel and turned off the ignition. She got out of the car along with him, staring at the white signage in front of the building.
"Sky zone?" Heather squinted at him, a queasy feeling rising in her stomach.
Seeing her hesitation, he practically dragged her to the front door and pushed her inside. A sight of kids and adults alike bouncing up and down on various complex trampoline structures welcomed her.
She'd never seen Bryce this giddy, who went straight to the reception to register both of them. She was left alone and dumbfounded. She had no idea a place like this in Boston existed. But all the laughter surrounding her made her suddenly excited.
He pulled her into an area full of lockers, and helped her shove her shoes and purse inside an empty one. He shoved his into another beside hers.
"So? What do you think?" Bryce walked up to the nearest trampoline platform looking at her expectantly.
"You sure you're an adult?" she said sarcastically, chuckling as she said it.
"Aha! I knew it! I just know you'll like this!" he teased. "Dibs on the first bounce!" he leaped onto one then did a backflip, as Heather watched in amazement. He did another flip, even posing midair to make it look effortless. Seeing him enjoying himself, she couldn't resist any longer and dived right in.
"This... Feels... Awesome!" she shouted to him in between bouncing, trying to propel herself higher with each jump. Bryce simply nodded back, giggling with her as they alternated between bouncing and running to the different trampoline stages in the park.
Heather never felt as exhilarated as she was at that moment. With every jump, she felt a piece of her heartbreak shedding away. In her mind, she screamed at the looming threats that washed over her the past few weeks. It was getting more and more difficult to hold on to the grudges that wrapped her heart. So she let herself go. She leaped on every surface, on every stage, on every setup. She bounced until there was nothing left of the anxieties that seemed to anchor her with heaviness in the past 48 hours.
When she started losing steam, she lifted herself with all her might and leaped into a pit of sponges, savoring the few moments of free fall. She then stood up on her feet and went down, found somewhere to sit and rest. Bryce followed her shortly after.
While they were sipping ice cold water from one of the vending machines, he watched her. She was lost in her thoughts, a pensive look in her face. He perked up when she finally spoke.
"The metaphor isn't lost in me. I get why you brought me here." she punched his arm playfully, before wiping the sweat on her forehead with a paper towel.
"I never doubted you'd get it," he nodded, his face turning serious. "Look, let me tell you a secret," he leaned forward closing the gap between them. "This is where I kinda sulk after I lose a case, or when my head gets caught up in a rut," he paused for a few moments, pursing his lips. "Look, I know you've been through some hard times recently, but in my gut I know you're tougher than that. You're strong, you're a victor, you always, always overcome. Even when things get difficult, you just leverage the situation so you could bounce back. If there's anyone who can emerge from all of this triumphantly, it's you. Because you know why? You're one hell of a woman, Heather."
He stopped himself from saying anything more and finished his speech, as he gave her an endearing look.
She was taken aback by his words, unsure how to react. It took her a few moments before it sunk in - that he was exactly right. When times did get rough, she always managed to rise above it. She didn't buckle. But she had a tendency to forget, not because she's overwhelmed, but because she buzzed right through every painful experience. She used them as stepping stones, as fuel to her dreams and desires. She only needed a rousing reminder.
And that's what Bryce gave her today. With her spirit lifted by his overwhelming encouragement, she placed her hand over his and gave it a soft squeeze. Without thinking, she planted a quick peck on his cheek.
"Thank you, Bryce. Thanks for bringing me here. I needed this." she whispered, staring back at him.
It took all of Bryce's strength to stop himself from kissing her. Instead, he settled on ruffling her damp hair, smiling brightly back at her.
"Like I said, I always got your back." He opened his arms and shrugged, a smug smile pasted on his face. "So if you're done moping around, you wanna play some more?"
Heather can't help but laugh.
They hit the trampolines again, with Bryce flipping himself and shooting into some hoops. They even had a contest, where they tried besting each other over dodge ball. They didn't stop until they got both hungry. He eventually drove them to a nearby food truck, and together they ate hotdogs and greasy fries in his car. Heather's friends called her while they were parked, inviting them both for a quick hangout at Donahues.
As they drove back into the town center in silence, she couldn't ignore the tugging in her heart that this wasn't just two friends hanging out. Yet she didn't feel guilty or confused at all. That Sunday afternoon, she felt entirely certain that she was with someone who she was supposed to be with. It didn't feel forced, exhausting or boring. It simply felt good.

Chloe analysis
So I’ve been rewatching season one and two because in order to do a proper analysis I need Chloe from day one.
I have a lot issues with Chloe even though she’s not as bad as before.
I still have to address what she’s done so this is gonna be long.
Her past issues and good moments will definitely be mentioned.
Bullying
She was a straight up bully all she did was humiliate others and treat them like garbage. She’s also a total brat and treats Sabrina like a slave and that’s only addressed in the evillustrator. She shoved a poster of Adrien in girls faces to make them jealous and upset. She even said to Sabrina she’s not crying enough that’s just awful. Also when she was laughing at Kim confessing his love that was cruel. There are more examples unfortunately that she does.
I can see how she just doesn’t care about others feelings because her mom doesn’t care about her and treats others with disrespect. Which is part of the reason why I feel so bad for her because she just isn’t loved.
I may be listing a lot of her mistakes in this but she stating them along with her good moments are crucial.
(This was supposed to be a gif of Chloe laughing at Kim while he has food on him but for some reason the gif isn't working)
Parents and Other Adults
A lot of people think that she gets her traits from her mom which is true but she also gets her behaviour from her father. She uses her father’s influence for everything because she knows she can get what she wants. It doesn’t help that the adults are extremely incompetent and total pushovers, I mean she got Alya expelled in Lady Wifi and she did nothing wrong! ( the same thing Lila did to Marinette) The mayor of Paris abuses his power so much he got Roger fried because he wouldn’t break the law for him!
She also called the fire department for no reason she should have been punished greatly for that! In Darkblade when they were running for class rep she said that the she’ll do what her dad does which is ruin her opponents reputation. How can you display this kind of example to a 14 year old girl!?
Her mom is equally terrible she just fires people and treats them as lower class citizens and Chloe mimics her behaviour with the insults and the “utterly ridiculous” thing! I know it was meant to be comical and at times it was because Audrey is as extra as Chloe. The way her mother acts though is just despicable. Chloe went through a lot and I did feel bad for her though when she wanted to take Marinette to New York and not Chloe. The fact that she called her unexceptional was just awful! Her parents are terrible examples for her and she needs a better role model in her life. I know Jean Claude tries but he can only do so much especially since she disrespects him greatly.
It really doesn’t help that her father dotes on her and does whatever she wants. It unfortunately increases her vanity because he buys her so many things.
Vanity
Chloe thinks very highly of her appreance to point where it’s very shallow. She probably looked at herself in the mirror a lot when she was little too. That’s an issue because even though it’s not a bad thing to care about your looks if care too much you can become very self absorbed like Chloe. She really only cares about herself and what she can gain. Ladybug on the other hand is someone she admires and who she should look up to.
Her relationships with others
Ladybug
Ladybug is someone that she admires and wants to be like. At first it seemed more for attention and less for heroism but it changed a little over time. Once she became Queen Bee she again wanted to be noticed but it was more to appeal to her horrible mother.
I believe she was at her happiest when she was fighting alongside Ladybug in Maledikator, “I always dreamed of doing this...with you.” she said. I really loved the rooftop scene with Ladybug and how much Chloe trusts and cares about Ladybug definitely the best relationship she has.
Things went a little downhill when Ladybug wasn’t honest with her in Miraculer. She had her reasons because Chloe made herself a target for HawkMoth. We were lead to believe that she gave up on Ladybug, but she defended her in Stormy Weather 2. I also don’t think Chloe holds grudges she’s just petty and believes she’ll be the bee again. I do really hope that her relationship with Ladybug continues in a positive sense because they work well together.
Marinette
She bullied and teased Marinette her for 3 years and possibly more so it’s no shock as to why Marinette doesn’t like her. She doesn’t do at as much anymore just slight teasing but not to a harsh extent. We never learn why she picked on her so much or on others which is unfortunate. How she acts now is still bad but they don’t interact as much so we don’t see how they are now.
Marinette and Chloe’s family life is contrasted well with Marinette’s supportive and loving family vs Chloe’s. Something else that was great was Marinette’s comment at the end of Zombizu she has a heart but doesn’t know how to use it and she’ll learn if they set a positive example I love that! I really hope that they continue that positive example because it’s kinda working.
However Marinette and Chloe have a similar character flaw which is jealousy which is shown in Animastro. They try these stupid pranks on Kagami which isn’t taken seriously but still shouldn’t be encouraged. At the same time now that she’s so focused on being a hero I don’t think she cares about Marinette anymore. I do think it’ll be good for both of them if they work together positively or just hang out casually.
Sabrina
This is her worst relationship, Sabrina and Chloe are toxic together. Sabrina may enjoy serving Chloe but that doesn’t make it right and it doesn’t help that Chloe doesn’t do anything nice for her. From season one it’s gone horribly wrong and is still bad. In the evilustrator Marinette calls Chloe out on it and then Sabrina starts to worship Marinette and thinks she has to start doing her homework and stuff. The worst part is that nothing is solved Sabrina doesn’t learn the value of a healthy friendship because she goes back to Chloe. Her behaviour towards Sabrina is really never addressed again and that bothers me.
In Antibug Jean Claude said that arguing with Sabrina is the norm, which consists of insults. Sabrina has unfortunately taken some of Chloe’s terrible traits because she does her bidding. Locking Juleka in the bathroom in Reflekta for example. In Startrain the adults do nothing again her dad is just like protect and serve when Sabrina was talking about serving Chloe. Roger your daughter is being treated like a slave she should be treated with respect!
Sabrina doesn’t understand that being someone’s servant isn’t friendship. I know everyone is really happy that Chloe was protecting Sabrina from the akuma but I just want to know how did we get from Chloe treating Sabrina like a slave to Chloe protecting her? How much will she change after this season? I think in some capacity she does care for Sabrina because we saw in Miraculer that they play together and Chloe seems to enjoy her company. We need to see that more, Chloe liking Sabrina and wanting her around as a friend. She did say that Sabrina was her friend in Miraculer but I’m still skeptical about their relationship.
However even if she does care about her the damage has already been done and I don’t think it can be repaired without it feeling rushed.
Adrien
We haven’t fully gone into her relationship with him just that they grew up together and Chloe cares about him. Adrien cares about her but wants her to be nicer to others which sort of happenes in Despair Bear but it was forced because she didn’t really want to be nice to anyone she was doing it for Adrien. However she did help Ladybug when she was in a tight spot but a few good deeds does not a hero make. Adrien and Chloe haven’t been seen hanging out together as much so we don’t really know how he is with her now. Another thing is the party that was thrown that Adrien was against I don’t blame them for being happy that their bully is leaving but I am also on Adrien’s side because no one is useless. It seemed a little mean spirited yet understandable.
The Bee Arc
A lot of people consider this her redemption arc but I disagree. Those two episodes plus Malediktator are character development episodes so that we can understand her more but not necessarily forgive her. There where only two Chloe moments before this to help her character. Zombizu and Despair Bear which I appreciate. Audrey is terrible and should see Chloe for who she is and how exceptional she is. The fact that she wants to be like her is scary. I think my only issue with Queen Wasp was when Marinette brought them together by saying how horrible they where. I love Marinette but this was wrong she should have said some like spend time together see that other people matter and treat others with respect. Finding similar interests that are positive that they can bond over. Perhaps saying that Chloe can make friends if she tries and looks at how she treats others and why it’s not ok. It may not work because they are both so self absorbed to do that but it might have helped somehow.
I think she could do better if she tried, being a hero will definitely make her better. I also think she should be around good people and really notice what others do. She has done a few sensible things like genuinely apologizing and trapping the akuma in Startrain. However this doesn’t automatically mean she’s a good person she still has her issues.
Chloe’s moments
Zombizou was a great character moment for her which was before the bee arc. Sabrina said her mom doesn’t remember her birthday. So because she doesn’t seem to be a fan of birthdays and she was jealous she ruined her gift. Even though she really did want to give her a gift. Chloe being mean and ruining things again was bad but necessary. When she apologized to Ms. Bustier I was so proud of her I need more of that. She did give her a gift and that was great.
Chloe is really smart in Style Queen she still tries to help Ladybug at the risk of becoming a glitter statue. In Style Queen we are shown how she interacts with her mother and just wants her love and attention.
She had every right to be pissed when Audrey chose Marinette over her. She had been trying to get her attention for most of her life! Also she’s never been to New York so the fact that she’s taking Marinette must hurt. All she wants is for her mother to be impressed by her. Her calling her unexceptional was the last straw so she decides to become a hero to prove herself. She may have gone about it the wrong way by creating a dangerous situation but I actually sympathize with her. All she wants his her mother’s love and attention.
Her mother ripping her apart on live tv after she failed was definitely hard for her. It was so tough that she gave up and unfortunately was the victim to HawkMoth. “A fallen hero” appropriate Hawkmoth, and when he calls her exceptional and she says she’ll teach them to respect her that says a lot. Unfortunately once again live her mother just says she’s unexceptional, but Ladybug and Chat are there to tell her that it’s ok to make mistakes and I love that. So by doing the right thing she shows how exceptional she is. When she apologizes and smiles it was so genuine. When she asked her mom why she doesn’t love her that was sad. I need more interactions like that from those three it’s so good.
In Malediktor she was definitely in the wrong for reacting like that to her father. She thinks that her dad should just have the power to do anything she wants even if it’s impossible. However after her genuine talk with Ladybug she got it all out. She thinks of herself as useless and that she has no friends so that she really should leave Paris. Seeing the real side of Chloe her she’s being really emotional unfortunately what she’s saying is true about having no friends. She wants to serve a purpose and fix her mistake and it was great! Her fighting with Ladybug was super sweet and the party for Queen Bee was great. More interactions with Ladybug and Marinette please!
In Miraculer she really wanted to be the bee again to work with Ladybug but unfortunately since her safety is on the line she can’t. Fighting off the akuma was very powerful and a great moment for her. She believed in herself and in Ladybug I loved that. When she did work with Ladybug she was really good she went after Mayura and was really worried that Ladybug would think she’s incompetent. That episode really shows how much she cares about Ladybug and how even though she loves being a hero messing really affects her. It also really shows how she views herself which reflects on how much she loves Ladybug. Chloe declining Mayura’s offer and freaking out when she lost her is a lot of character development for Chloe. In the end she’s disappointed in Ladybug because she loved being a hero yet she should have been told sooner. Chloe was disappointed but she handed it pretty well.
My problem
My issue with Chloe is that she has done a lot of horrible things to others yet it’s mostly forgotten. Also the adults in this show are very incompetent and horrible even Ms. Bustier who was my favourite. Also we haven’t seen a lot of Chole since Lila arrived so we don’t witness her growth. When she is present she’s either being a brat or trying to be good. The barley brings up how much of a bully she was to others so that’s a little frustrating. Her best moments when she does something good are usually Ladybug focused which isn’t bad bad I want her to have great moments with other classmates.
There are no consequences for others actions only scolded sometimes. She may have not ‘caused’ akumas but that doesn’t mean she’s a good person or redeemed. It would have been great if she could learn from time to time in season two. You don’t need to have a Chloe episode in order for her to have character development. She can have an episode with Marinette or Adrien helping in some way or fixing something. It happens a lot with other side characters that Marinette interacts with so it’s possible.
My stance on Chloe
Even though Chloe is a brat who treats Sabrina horribly I still kinda like her. She does want to be a super hero but now she can’t because she announced herself (because she’s ridiculous) to the world. She’s so ridiculous and extra that so I don’t really take her seriously. However I judge her when she’s doing something wrong. Her brattiness is kind of endearing because she’s not causing a lot of harm. She’s still like a kid in a sense with still having her bear and wanting to do makeup on her dad. Also I feel really bad for her because she never really had a good influence in her life that she listened too. I don’t necessarily want her to completely change her bratty behaviour because it’s a part of who she is. She has had a few moments where she does good things but I want that to continue.
Plus she has the best transformation sequence but that’s beside the point.
Overall I really want Chloe to change and grow, if not this season then the next. She has the potential to be good she just hasn’t fully grasped it yet. She needs more episodes and to show that she has changed and showing her interactions with Marinette, Ladybug and Adrien. Setting a good example for her and showing her kindness will definitely help. Delving into details about herself and maybe helping Ladybug without being Queen Bee more often would be nice. It would be nice if she was the Bee again she’s great. As well as making up for her mistakes and apologizing more would be great. I decided to make this post because Chloe may have grown a little but that doesn’t excuse what she’s done and keeps doing. Since Lila is the new Chloe we put her off to the side unfortunately.
Hope you all enjoyed it making these analysis posts are very interesting and fun. I also hope that I didn’t ramble, repeat myself or use too many examples.
Thank you and have a great day!
