stupid horse | kenma x reader
synopsis | stupid horse i just fell out of the porsche, lost the money in my bank account oh no!
in which you frequently visit an arcade to destress after school and have the highest score on your favorite game, until one day you don’t. someone named applepi has dethroned you and you almost go broke trying to reclaim your spot.
details | slow burn, kind of crack, rivals (?) to friends to almost lovers, possibly ooc kenma, no use of ‘y/n’
word count | 10.3k
note | for @xoxojisu and @tlissablr and all the other kenma enjoyers 🫶 anyways this is my second long fic and i kinda think the pacing sucks? the fic is mostly me yapping. also i tried to be very vague when it came to the games because i wanted you 🫵 the reader to insert whatever you wanted BUT while writing i imagined the reader was obsessed with space invaders and kenma was playing brawl stars on his phone! (random yes i know) also i literally had no idea how to end this so sorry if the ending sucks :/
You stare at the screen, hoping the reason the name ranked first is unfamiliar due to the adrenaline running through you after losing a few seconds ago.
With jittery hands you move the joystick, spelling out the name you always use to claim your spot as second on the leaderboard for the first time in ages. It was only then that you truly realized you had been dethroned by someone with an odd name.
“Who the hell is Applepi..” You grumble, taking out more coins from your pocket before inserting them into the slot.
You spent a lot of time at the arcade and therefore recognized a lot of faces, especially those from your school. Normally people used their real name or a recognizable nickname so they could easily boast about their score to their friends, so it was a bit odd you couldn’t place your finger on who the name belonged to. You could only assume they really enjoyed apple pie.
Hearing the familiar start-up tune of the game you lock your eyes onto the screen, watching as the enemies roll in. You play as usual, pushing the buttons and timing your attacks just right to gain points. It was a simple process: attack, dodge, repeat.
From what you remember his score was just a couple points higher than yours, so all you needed to do was put in a little more effort and you’d win.
As you continued to play you felt the initial hurt of losing your place in the leaderboard drift away. You don’t know why you got so bothered— you come to the arcade to relieve stress, not stress yourself out.
You were having fun again, that’s what matters now.
The game itself was pretty old, with newer games and models surrounding it it almost looked out of place if it weren’t for the fact that you were in an arcade. Due to that, it didn’t receive much attention so the leaderboard always remained stagnant, the same people had been in their spots for months without it changing and with you at the top. It’s because of this that you unofficially claimed it as your game, so when you saw someone else had taken your spot you were thrown off. Who likes losing at something they’re good at?
You huff, almost feeling angry again at the thought before focusing back on the game. The enemies were getting faster now. It was around here that you died last time, so all you need to do is survive for a little longer.
You followed the usual pattern, attack dodge repeat, before eventually succumbing to an attack.
You watched as the leaderboard came back up and just as you had predicted you were in first place again. This time you were ahead of Applepi by a couple hundred points, so you’d be good for a while in case they ever tried to take your spot again.
You looked at the leaderboard again, observing the new spots of the players since everyone got knocked down by one. The person in last place was entirely kicked out.
“Poor guy,” You mumble, reaching into your pocket for more coins. It’s then you realize you’re out, you had spent your last few on the round you just played.
Momentarily you contemplated going to the counter to buy more but ultimately settled on being done for the day. You had spent enough time at the arcade for today, now it was time to head home and catch up on school work.
You picked up your bag and walked towards the exit.
The arcade was unsurprisingly busy today.
It was the weekend, to be specific Saturday. Those free from work and students who finished their assignments roamed the streets to destress after a long week, your friend and yourself included.
By some miracle your schedules aligned and after days of not being able to hang out the two of you finally set a date. Initially, the plan was to just hit a couple of stores since your friend, Riko, claimed she needed some retail therapy after a hectic week of school combined with work. Soon clothing stores turned into food stalls, then into shoe stores, followed by stores that sold trinkets, and the list went on.
While Riko planned to spend most of her paycheck, you had different ideas. Before the day ended you wanted to stop by the arcade. You claimed it was to wind down, but you secretly wanted to see the leaderboard on your favorite game. Since she had been dragging you around everywhere she wanted to go that day and she knew how much you liked going she complied with your request.
Upon entering you noticed the claw machines had restocked their prizes and among them was the most adorable cat plush you had ever seen. The leaderboard could wait, you had to have it no matter what.
Amongst the loud chatter and music in the room, you were able to hear your friend calling your name from somewhere behind you.
“Yeah?” You answered, focusing on the task in front of you.
You had promised yourself you would only try to win the plush three times before giving up and you were on your final try. Your hand was hovering over the red button that would drop the claw when pressed, waiting for the right moment. It was nearly in the perfect spot over the plush. Just a few more taps to the left and—
“Some guy took your first place.”
SLAM!
You watched in horror as the claw swung violently left and right from your accidental jab, dropping slowly and missing what would’ve been your plush completely. You stare at the glass for a moment in sorrow before turning around and walking to your friend.
Luckily your favorite game was only a few steps away from the claw machine so you made it in time to see the leaderboard before it disappeared, and she was right. Applepi had once again taken your spot, this time by a significant margin.
“Whoa, what’s with that face? Are you shocked that someone finally took your spot?”
It was obvious you couldn’t hide the look of surprise on your face given your friend’s reaction. You quickly looked away in embarrassment. “It’s not that, this happened like two weeks ago and I just never expected they’d do it again.”
Riko’s eyes widened in surprise, before narrowing in on you. A smile slowly creeps in on their face. “Again?! So that’s why you were so insistent on coming here! I know you like this place, but I felt like this time you were being extra pushy—”
“I was not that pushy!” You gasp at her dramatics before picking out tokens from your pocket and inserting them into the machine.
She giggles before leaning against the side of the machine, watching you focus on the game. “Can’t believe you didn’t tell me about this earlier! I feel like a boring show I was watching just got slightly interesting.”
“No way you just called me boring,” You shot her a glare before looking back at the screen. “And I didn’t tell you because I didn’t think it mattered. Last time they only beat me by a few points so I never thought I’d see their name above mine again.”
“You’re not boring, but I just don’t understand how you can play the same thing over and over again without getting bored.” She sighed.
“It’s my comfort game, it helps me relieve stress. It's kind of like how you love to go shopping, if you already have a lot of everything, why buy more?” You reply, hoping you explained it in a way she understands.
It’s still a mystery how the two of you become friends when you couldn’t be more different. The two of you had different likes and dislikes, but the two of you still indulged in each other’s interests where you could. You guys understood each other and wouldn’t push each other into doing anything the other didn’t like, which is probably why you’ve remained best friends for as long as you have.
A childhood bond that likely won’t ever be broken.
“Mm, guess you have a point.” She nodded. “Or maybe you’re just saying that ‘cause you’re unemployed.”
You let out a sigh that sounded more like a laugh. “Fair point—”
The game stopped and the death music silenced you. You feel your stomach drop, you had gotten so wrapped up in the conversation that you forgot to focus. There was no possible way you could have beat his score.
“Did you beat them?!” Riko quickly invades your space, eyes looking all over the screen for a sign of your score.
You watch with her in anticipation as the screen loads, bringing up the leaderboard.
“Fuck..” Your friend curses and you groan, throwing your head back in frustration.
Your eyes catch her various shopping bags on the dirty floor and you can’t help but feel bad. “You can head out if you want, it might take me a while to beat their score.”
Your friend, the loyal angel she is, shakes her head and crosses her arms. “No way, I’m staying with you until you win!”
You won't say it out loud but her response made you genuinely happy. Before you could say anything she held her hand up, stopping you. “Shh! Don’t say anything! I just want to see you happy, so hurry up and win so you can be happy!”
You smile and nod, sliding in another coin and starting over.
The two of you are there for nearly another twenty minutes. The arcade isn’t as full as it was when the two of you first got there, but there were still a good handful of people. Your friend continued to remain by your side but had taken out her phone to pass the time. It’s only when she hears the death music followed by your gasp that she puts her phone down and rushes to your side, grabbing your shaky hands.
“What is it?! Did you do it?!” She asks, glancing between you and the screen for a reaction that could indicate an answer.
You don’t respond, your eyes remaining fixated on the screen. You’re honestly not sure, you had been playing for a while but Applepi had gotten further than you ever have, so you were in the dark when it came to your score. When you see the words new high score pop up on the screen you and your friend squeal. It was only by a few points, but you had beaten Applepi once again. She shook you by the shoulders from joy and screamed ‘You did it! You did it!’ repeatedly. You shush her after noticing the silent glares you two were getting from other players.
“Can’t believe I actually did it,” You said shakily while plugging in your name again.
“Never doubted you for a second!” Riko laughed seeing your glare.
You quickly glance at the claw machine. One more try couldn’t hurt, and you were currently riding the high of your win. This time you’d win.
The two of you walk over with you helping carry your friend's multiple bags. Once you set them down you reach into your pocket for more coins. “Now that that’s done I can finally try and—” You pause when you don’t feel any in your pocket.
You turn to look at your favorite game, wondering just how many rounds you played.
Doesn’t matter, you tell yourself while pulling out your wallet, I’ll just—
Everything in your system nearly shuts down after seeing your wallet was completely empty, excluding your student ID. Your friend notices your silence and looks up, seeing your empty wallet.
“No cash?” She asks before pulling out her own wallet. “Don’t worry, your beautiful and employed friend has got you covered—” She gasped while peering down into her wallet. The look of horror on her face told you she in fact did not have you covered.
Just as you started to pick up her bags she stopped you. “Wait! I know I probably have something in my bank account!” She quickly tapped the screen on her phone. Her face quickly morphed into distress.
“S-Sorry.. I got nothing..”
The two of you turned to look at the plush. It sat there, stranded in the middle of the claw machine, almost beckoning you to save it from its misery.
You put your forehead to the glass. “I’ll come back for you soon..”
To keep your promise the next day once school ended you wanted to head back to the arcade to check the leaderboard and get that cat plush. As a result, your friend called you paranoid.
“Please come with me, it’s not like you work today.” You begged, tugging on her backpack as you walked together.
“I don’t work, but I have homework I gotta catch up on!” Riko argued back, quickening her pace in the hopes she’d get away from you. “Besides, I’m sure that person has a life outside of the arcade. They couldn’t have beaten your score that fast!”
When you didn’t respond she glanced behind her, which was a mistake.
Your hands still gripped her bag strap tightly, but your face held the most adorable pout. She knew she was in a losing battle with you now, you wouldn’t give up until she said yes. Besides, she stood by her point. Once you guys went to the arcade you’d see she was right and you’d stop being paranoid all the time. Hell, maybe she’d stay with you so you could win the plush in the claw machine, but that’s it.
“Fine! But I’m just accompanying you, if you stay to play I’m leaving.”
To both of you guys's surprise, your score had been beaten, once again by a significant amount, by none other than Applepi. To make things worse the cat plush you had been eyeing had disappeared too.
“I stand corrected, I guess whoever Applepi is does not in fact have a life.” Riko sighed. “Look man, I’d give you some change to play but I’m still all out, I work tomorrow though so—”
“Don’t worry about it, I brought some with me just in case.”
“… What?”
Your friend could only watch as you pulled out some coins and an extremely wrinkly bill from your pocket. She had no idea where you even got the money from, unless…
“Did you search through your couch for money?”
“.. These are desperate times..”
Your friend had no words. She can’t believe she was ready to help fund your new addiction, almost did too, until you pulled out your suspicious money. She couldn’t lie though, she admired the dedication you had. She silently watched as you inserted a coin to start playing.
“Alright then.. goodluck with your one-sided competition.” She waved goodbye and you reciprocated the action.
Normally you’d visit the arcade a couple times a week. She knew this because she would walk you part of the way before she split off to either go home or go to her job. Once, twice, on the rare occasion three times you’d go to the arcade, but now it was basically everyday. Once school ended as usual you two would walk together before you split, walking in a direction that she knew was not where your home was.
She wanted to say something, but she didn’t know how to bring it up to you without making you seem crazy. She knew this game brought you comfort, and this new rivalry excited you, but you were spending money you did not have. You were addicted, whether you knew it or not, and you needed to take a break away from the game.
And she missed spending time with you.
Luckily, as fate would have it, the opportunity presented itself in the form of a job application.
“Please help me get a job.” You placed the form on your friend's desk.
She stopped packing away her things to pick up the sheet of paper. The job application form was from her job. “When did you get this?” She asked, wondering how you got the paper since she hadn’t seen you around.
“A while ago when I went to visit you while you were working, I thought it’d be cool if we worked in the same place.”
“Uh-huh..” She eyed you suspiciously. “What’s the real reason you’re applying?”
You scratched your cheek nervously. “I told you, it’d be cool if—”
“No, the real reason.”
You sighed knowing there was no way you could lie about it when she already knew. You don’t even know why you tried to lie when the reason was so obvious. She just wanted to hear you say it.
“I want to get a job so I can continue playing at the arcade.” You sighed while looking down at your feet. Once you said it out loud you realized it was a little embarrassing especially considering the extra context.
She called your name softly and you looked up. “Listen, I love you and I’ll gladly help you get a job, but you gotta take a break from that damn game.”
If she’s telling you this, that means you’re really in deep. She’s not one to judge but when she does usually has a good reason. You take a moment to think about when this first started and do some quick mental math. It’s then you realize you’ve spent an alarming amount of money and time at the arcade.
“.. It’s gotten really bad hasn’t it?”
“I’m glad you’re self aware.” She stood up from her chair and gave you a harsh back on the back. “Now let’s go get you a job.”
“You know, I wasn’t lying when I said it’d be cool if we worked at the same place.” You said while wiping down the counter.
After school you walked with your friend to her job to submit the application. The place she worked at, a cat cafe, was run by the sweetest old lady who immediately gave you the job since you came recommended by your friend. She nearly handed you a uniform right then and there.
“I know, who wouldn’t want their best friend so they can chat while they work?” Riko laughed.
The other cafe employees were young students mostly within your age group and you’d momentarily see them when they came in for their shift before you headed out. The employee who would work during your friend’s shift recently resigned, leaving a vacant spot open just for you.
“I’m gonna go on break, will you be good out here by yourself?” She asked.
“Go for it,” You waved her off. “It’s late, I doubt any big parties will come in.”
She thanked you before proceeding to grab a snack and dashing to somewhere in the back. While standing at the register the lack of customers allowed your mind to wander. It had nearly been a week since you last visited the arcade and you missed it. What you missed most of all was playing your comfort game.
You’d be lying if you said you weren’t tempted to go back and check the leaderboard. On multiple occasions while walking home you almost ended up walking in the direction of the arcade, but your friend pulled you back every time. If it wasn’t for her, you likely would’ve ended up back at the arcade and drained your bank account.
Slowly, your obsession faded, but every so often you still wondered if Applepi had beaten you once again. You let out a frustrated sigh at the thought, you did not expect to get so invested. Now you’re dealing with the consequences and having withdrawals from the game.
Note to self: never gamble.
The gentle chime of a bell rang throughout the store, signaling someone had entered. You and your friend let out a synchronized ‘Welcome’ to acknowledge them.
The two who entered were boys around your age. One was tall with black hair styled in a.. unique way while the other was shorter, his hair bleached. What caught your eye was the familiar shade of red they wore. Then it dawned on you— they were wearing your school’s sports jackets!
For a moment you wondered what they were doing out so late since school ended a couple of hours ago, but you quickly realized they must’ve just finished with practice. Out of all the places they came here to relax? Your eyes shifted around the small store. That’s not to say the energy wasn’t nice, playing with the cats was definitely fun, but you personally would much rather spend your time relaxing at home.. or at the arcade—
“Hello! What can I get you started with?” You asked in your best customer service voice once they reached the counter.
The tall one’s eyes slightly widened once they landed on you before subtly glancing behind you, looking for something. You assumed he was looking at the menu so you didn’t rush him.
“Hi, um.. I’ll just have a green tea.” He sighs.
You try not to question why he said it in such a defeated tone while you plug in his order. “Will that be all?” You ask, eyes shifting briefly to his companion.
“I’ll have a slice of apple pie and a hot chocolate.” He answered softly, eyes quickly shifting back down to his phone.
Your eye twitches at the mention of the sweet treat. You once again plug in the order and the tall one says that’ll be all they’re having. They pay and walk to one of the furthest tables while you begin making their order.
While grabbing the cups for the drinks you could’ve sworn you heard one of the guys sniffing, almost as if he was crying. As tempting as it was to look, you decided to mind your business this time.
“Yo!” Your friend peaked her head from the back door before walking over to you. “Did you miss me?”
“That was the longest five minute break.”
“Sorry sorry, I got caught up watching my videos.” She giggled.
“Alright iPad kid, since you’re out now help me with this order.”
She rolled her eyes but helped you nonetheless. You started preparing the hot chocolate while your friend prepared the green tea. Once you finished the base drink you prepared yourself for the final step. You brought out another cup and began frothing some whip cream. Once that was done you gently added it into the drink, sculpting the froth to make it look like a cat was popping out of the drink. You then added two small drops of chocolate syrup for the eyes, completing the drink. You took a step back to admire the cat, smiling at the outcome.
Your friend was quick to notice. “Wow, I think this is your best one yet.” She smiles.
As you two finished up the drinks the dreaded final item came up. “.. Can you grab the last thing we need?” You ask.
Your friend checks the order to see what’s missing and lets out a loud laugh. “No way, don’t tell me you’re that triggered by it?”
“Don’t start..” You sigh.
Thankfully your friend complies without much more teasing. “Help me take these to their table?” You ask.
Your friend agrees and you both make your way to the table. The tall guy seemed to be sulking, sadly moving around a cat toy that didn’t catch any cat’s attention while his friend’s eyes remained glued to his phone.
“Sorry for the wait!” Your friend apologized while placing down a drink.
Like a switch was flipped his demeanor completely changed. Suddenly he was cheerful, looking at your friend like she made the drink personally for him. Oh, you understand now.
You resist the urge to laugh as you place down the other guy’s order, hearing the two converse. The guy with bleached hair perks up seeing his food and you feel a twinge of pride when you see him snap a quick pic of your drink.
Your and your friend head back behind the counter. Not caring about being ‘professional’ you pull a chair up to the chair and sit while your friend leans against the counter. You eye the distance between you and the customers before mentally declaring you’re at a safe enough distance that they won’t hear your conversation.
“So..” You start.
Your friend raises an eyebrow, but decides to bite. “So?”
“You and that guy?”
“I knew you were gonna say something.” She laughed. “He’s just a frequent customer. Him and his friend would come in all the time after practice, but once you started working they stopped. I asked him about it and apparently they’ve been practicing extra ‘cause they have a big game coming up or something.”
You eyed her suspiciously, taking note of the slight blush on her cheek. “Alright if you say so..”
Work went by fast after that. Later that night the two of you decided to hang out a little bit before parting ways. Your friend, noticing how antsy you’d been, suggested playing Roblox.
The two of you were holed up in Riko’s room, deciding on which game to play. The initial idea was to bully kids on Brookhaven, but a popular show involving surviving kids games had inspired many to create their own version on Roblox.
This you settled on the game, Shrimp Game.
Trial after trial both of you survived. When it was time for Mingle the both of you were doing good the first couple of rounds, occasionally getting separated but surviving nonetheless.
Once you reached the center of the stage the music started up again. You stared at the screen, anxious to see the number of how many could be in a group.
The music stopped and the screen flashed. 3 players.
You and your friend immediately raced to an empty room, hoping a single player would follow. As soon as the two of you entered another two player group followed suit.
“What the,” You grumbled, “Get them out, we were here first.”
You go to push one of the players but one of them had the same idea, reacting quicker and instead pushing you out and shutting the door.
“What the!—” You sat up in a panic. “Riko open the door!”
“I can’t!” She panicked. “The other guy pushed me down and I can’t get up!”
You quickly looked around seeing players scrambling to get into rooms, the only open one was across the stage from you. The countdown began, you knew you wouldn’t make it if you ran. You accepted your fate.
There was a player standing at the door, looking through the peephole almost as if he was taunting you that you couldn’t get in. It was then you noticed the username.
Applepi.
“No way,” You gasped. “Riko it’s them!!”
The countdown ended and your avatar was shot.
Your friend dramatically calls out your name and hugs you tightly. “I’ll never forget you!” She gave you a side hug while proceeding with the round.
“Quick turn on voice chat so I can cuss them out!—”
“No way!” She pulled back, “You’ll get me banned!”
You were tempted to spend money (now that you had it) to revive yourself but ultimately decided against it. You’d get your revenge in a different way.
“Want me to leave?” She asked since you guys were only playing to play together.
“No,” You flipped through the perspectives and landed on Applepi’s, “I’m gonna spectate.”
They played a couple of more rounds before moving on to the next game. You watched, unable to take your eyes off the screen while you thought about the possibilities.
“You think that’s actually Applepi?” You asked your friend.
“Dunno,” She mumbled, concentrating on the game. “What are the chances someone else uses the same username?”
The sound of her frequently tapping on the screen is dulled once you begin to think. She was right, what are the chances? This couldn’t be a coincidence, they were spelled the same odd way. Plus, it's very common for a person to stick with the same name, almost like they’re marking their online identity. It seemed as though the universe was pointing you in the direction back to the arcade. First the guy from work who ordered an apple pie, now this random with the same name.
“Damn!” Your friend groaned, putting down her phone. “I’m out.”
This was a sign. You were going to the arcade tomorrow.
“I think I’m finally gonna go back.”
Your friend looked at you, puzzled by your sudden declaration. “Go back to the arcade?” She hesitantly asked.
You nodded, confirming her statement.
“Well, it has been almost two weeks. I’m surprised you lasted this long without going.” She leaned back against the bench, basking in the sun while she clutched her juicebox.
It had been a week since you played Roblox and possibly met your archnemesis. You mimicked her and leaned back, staring up at the clouds. Somewhere in the distance you could hear the sound of squeaky shoes echoing from the gym. “I surprised myself too, but you made me realize I was obsessing over the competition too much for it to be healthy, and my wallet was really suffering…”
She smirked and ruffled your hair. “See what happens when you listen to me? You evolve as a person.”
You groan and gently push her away, attempting to fix your hair. She was right, but you’d never say it to her face. She knows she’s right most of the time and you saw no need to boost her ego at the moment.
“So, why go back now?”
“After we played Roblox I swore I was gonna go check the next day, but once school ended I didn’t feel like rushing to see the leaderboard and ruining my mood. Since I don’t work today I figured now’s a good time, I can relax and play the game how I want. Also, I really want to see if they restocked the claw machine for that plush.”
Your friend gasped. “Oh wow, you’ve really changed!”
Suddenly she engulfed you in a hug, ranting about how proud she was of you. “I would go with you but I picked up an extra shift today,” She pulled away and looked at you with a pout, “But text me how it goes!”
“I will.” You laugh.
Soon after the school bell rings, signaling the end of your lunch break.
The rest of the school day goes by quickly, but not without a small hitch. During your final class your teacher announced a pop quiz. You would’ve been fine, except you quickly realized you had lost your only pencil sometime throughout the day.
You quickly look around to see if anyone had their pencil pouches out, subtly turning around to look at the back of the class, only to see a familiar face you weren’t expecting to see. You don’t know how you didn’t realize he was in your class earlier since he stood out because of his hair. In a sea of mostly black hair, his bleached blonde hair and overgrown roots caught your eye since it reminded you of pudding.
You gulped, feeling anxiety creep in. You didn’t know him well enough to casually ask for a pencil like you would with Riko and you didn’t want to seem like one of those classmates who’s always mooching off of other’s supplies, but you had no choice since he was the only person you sort of knew.
“Excuse me,” You whispered, catching his attention. “Could I borrow a pencil?”
He blinked at you, golden eyes staring at you momentarily in confusion, almost as if he was surprised you were talking to him. He says nothing though, only nodding and pulling out a second pencil for you to use before handing it to you.
“Thank you! I promise I’ll give it back after class!” You smile and quickly turn back to face your quiz.
Minutes pass and miraculously you finish just in time. You let out a sigh of relief as the teacher takes away your exam, relaxing into your seat. You think you had a solid chance of passing this quiz.
You hear a scuffle behind you and turn around to look, only to see your blonde classmate getting dragged away by his tall friend from the cafe. You could only stare in shock as they quickly disappeared into the halls. You looked down at the pencil in your hand, wondering how you’d give it back to him.
As you pack away your things you remember he was on a sports team— possibly the volleyball team. Should I quickly pass by the gym or just give it tomorrow? You ask yourself. You were in no rush to get to the arcade and you knew if you waited until tomorrow you’d likely forget to give it back and end up keeping it, making it seem like you’re the type of classmate to never give stuff back.
You shiver at the thought— a quick trip to the gym wouldn’t hurt.
The walk doesn’t take long, but once you reach the gym you’re confused to see it’s empty. Since the two players rushed out of your class you assumed they were in a hurry to get to practice. Had you gotten the sport wrong? For a moment you thought maybe he was on the soccer team, but he didn’t exactly seem like the running type. You try knocking and jiggle the doorknob, only to see it’s locked. It isn’t until a random student passing by lets you know the boys volleyball team practiced earlier in the day.
You sighed, guess you’d give it back tomorrow after all.
Without any more distractions you began walking towards the arcade. As you walked the familiar path you couldn’t help but feel a little giddy. Maybe this time you’d go around the arcade and play some games you haven’t tried yet. The familiar neon lights eventually came into view and you smiled at the sight. It had been a long time.
You made your way inside, avoiding multiple running kids when you saw people standing in front of your favorite game. It was the two from the cafe!
You watched as the blonde one fiddled with the keys for a moment, before receiving a game over. He briefly looked at the screen before walking away from the machine. Instead of taking this opportunity to look at the leaderboard you followed behind them, ready to give back the pencil when they began talking.
“So, anything?” His companion asked.
The blonde shook his head, brows furrowed with what almost looked like a pout on his face. “No, it was boring today too.”
You paused in your tracks, his answer echoing in your mind before you rushed back to the game. Just as you had arrived the top scores disappeared, going back to the title screen.
“Dammit,” You mumbled to yourself, pulling out your wallet to take out some change.
You entered the token and began to play. Could it be a coincidence seeing that guy here at this machine? Possibly, but what could he have meant by ‘it was boring today too’? It had been a while since you played, could he have been referring to that? Not to mention when he came to the cafe he ordered an—
Your eyes widened, you had connected the dots.
At that moment you received a game over. The screen dissolved briefly before revealing the list. Your eyes raked through the lineup, not shocked to see you were still in second place with Applepi at the top. It had been awhile since you played, but you knew his score was different. You’re not sure of the exact numbers, but it was slightly higher from the last time you played.
You glanced at the exit. Had he been coming here to see if you had beat him?
Part of you felt bad, he probably thought you stopped trying to beat him when you were actually in rehab (work), but you were happy to know the competition wasn’t one sided.
Inserting another token you prepare to try your best this round. You’re about to make this a little less boring.
You open the door to the cafe, the smell of caffeine and sweets hitting you in the face. You made your way to the counter where your friend stood as the cashier. She lit up upon seeing your face, waving excitedly. “I thought I told you to text me! You didn’t have to show up during my shift!”
“Thought it’d be better if I told you in person,” You giggled. “I have some slightly crazy news.”
“Oh!” She raised her eyebrows, curious as to what you could mean by that before gasping. “You got the plush!” She exclaimed while glancing at your backpack, expecting to see it bulky or misshapen.
“Ugh don’t remind me,” You sighed. “Turns out it was some super rare limited edition thing so I doubt I’ll ever see it again.”
“Damn, that sucks. Anyways, are you gonna order something or are you just here to gossip?”
You briefly remember the guy you loaned you a pencil and how his hair resembled pudding. As slightly embarrassing as it was to admit you had been craving the sweet treat ever since.
“I’ll have the caramel custard pudding.”
“Ugh,” Your friend made a face as she tapped the screen for your order. “Can’t believe you actually like that, tried it once while on my break and just couldn’t finish it. You and that guy over there would probably get along.”
You look up from your wallet and shoot her a confused look, “What guy?”
You gestured to someone behind you. Slowly you turned your head, only to see the duo from earlier. You quickly look back at her, trying to hide your shocked expression. “Damn, do they come here everyday?” You whisper, trying to act as if that was the reason you were surprised.
“I guess? I think their schedules cleared up a bit so now they’re coming more often.” She responded, not even noticing your panic. “Anyways your order will be out in a sec, I’m gonna take my break and go sit with you after it’s done.”
“Thanks,” You nervously laugh and go to the cat area to sit. You take a seat at the furthest table away from the duo, wondering if it’d be possible to talk about your discovery without them overhearing. You take a quick glance at them, noticing how the tall one frequently looks over at your friend and decide it’s too risky.
You spend your time scrolling through your phone, occasionally giving affection to any cat that brushes up against your leg when your friend approaches your table with two plates. “Alright,” She starts, placing the plates down before taking a seat. “What’s up? Did you end up spending all your money again?”
You can’t help but laugh at her comment. “No Riko, I’m not bankrupt just yet,” You reply while taking a bite out of your pudding.
You don’t know how she sensed it, but she was almost right. While playing you got a little too into it, inserting token after token. Without realizing you had spent a little more than what you planned on that single game alone. Seeing the numbers go higher and higher was addicting, you almost fell back into bad habits before pulling away and trying other games. You weren’t going to tell her that though.
The sudden sound of chairs being pushed out caught your attention. You looked back to see the duo were packing away their things and couldn’t help but feel joy swell up in your heart. They were leaving!
You went back to happily eating your pudding, unaware that they were making their way to your table until someone cleared their throat.
Both you and your friend turn to look at the tall man. “Hey, thanks again for the discount.”
Your friend waved her hand. “It was no problem! I feel bad you keep spending all your money here.” She laughed. You couldn’t help but notice the tint of red on her cheeks before hiding your smile behind your hand.
“You should come to our game tomorrow,” He suddenly suggested, looking eager before turning to you. “You too, we could use the extra support.”
“Mm, volleyball right?” You asked, really hoping you hadn’t gotten the sport wrong. It would’ve been embarrassing if you ended up going to the wrong place earlier.
“Right,” He clarified. “Think you guys will be able to make it?”
Before you even had a chance to respond your friend quickly answered for you. “We’ll be there!”
“Great! I’ll let the team know, they’ll be super excited,” He smiled before waving goodbye. His friend peaked from behind him and waved a reluctant goodbye which made you immediately remember.
“Oh before I forget!” You rummage around in your bag before pulling out the grey mechanical pencil, handing it to the blonde. “Here’s your pencil! Thanks for letting me borrow it.”
He looks at you surprised, almost like he had forgotten he gave you the pencil. “Oh, thanks.” Is all he said before gently taking it back.
During the brief moment he was up close you got the chance to observe him. His hair was long, but it framed his face nicely. His eyes were gold and catlike, fitting given your school’s mascot was a cat. You would’ve admitted he was cute if it wasn’t for the fact he’d possibly been the one tormenting you.
They left the shop after that, leaving you and your friend alone in the room. “Thanks for asking me if I wanted to go.” You broke the small moment of silence.
“Ok listen, me and Testurou—”
“Testurou?” You asked, both shocked and confused at the fact they were on a first name basis when you didn’t even know his name. As far as you know the two only interacted when he came to the cafe, just how often was he visiting? And dragging his poor friend with him to third wheel?
“Yes, his name is Testurou Kuroo.” She sighed dreamily while resting her cheek on her hand, enhancing that ‘totally in love’ look.
“When did this happen?!” You gasped. “Why didn’t you tell me this was happening?!”
“Ok first, calm down,” She giggled, acting as if she wasn’t hiding any big news from her best friend. “Nothings happened yet, we’ve just been talking when he comes in. I was literally planning on telling you when I told you to text me.”
You eyed her suspiciously, taking another spoonful of pudding into your mouth. “Ok, if he means that much to you I’ll go to the game tomorrow,” You give up, not wanting to put up much of a fight.
“Great! Now what about you? How do you know Kenma?” She smirked, hoping to flip the tables on you. So that’s his name, you mentally note. You open your mouth to explain the situation when she holds her hand up, silencing you. “Nevermind, what did you want to tell me earlier? About the arcade?”
“Actually, it’s about Kuroo’s buddy and the arcade.” You quickly looked around, eyeing the exit to make sure the duo had truly left.
She looked at you confused, gesturing for you to elaborate. You recount how you had seen the two of them at the arcade and how Kenma was playing your favorite game. You make sure to include his comment about how boring it’s been lately, leading you to your highly believable theory.
“I think he’s Applepi.”
“That.. actually makes some sense.” She nodded in agreement, surprising you.
“Really? Just like that?” You ask, raising an eyebrow suspiciously. She’s normally so quick to call you delusional— maybe you actually have a point this time.
She nods, “Tetsu usually visits me alone, but when he visits with Kenma he’s always late. I’m guessing that extra time is them being at the arcade. Plus, Kenma’s always playing games on his phone while they’re here so he’s probably a little nerdy, just like you.”
You ignore the nerd comment and focus on the facts she just presented to you. Everything lines up, but there’s only one way to confirm his identity.
“Just ask him about it tomorrow—”
“Tomorrow?! Are you crazy?!” You panic.
“Relax, just be casual about it.” She says in an attempt to calm you. “It’s not like you’re confronting him, just asking him about it. Who knows, maybe you guys can bond over that stuff.”
Casual, yeah, like this guy hasn’t been driving me insane for weeks.. you roll your eyes. She had a point though (lately she’s been having many of those), if you didn’t ask him you’d be stuck wondering forever.
It’s decided, you’re going to ask him tomorrow.
Tomorrow came sooner than you would’ve liked it to. Without knowing the school day quickly passed and you had arrived at the gym, your friend dragging you alongside her.
Inside there were a handful of people eagerly chatting and rushing to their seats to watch the teams warm up. You were anxious, but not about the game’s outcome. You were worried about making a fool of yourself in front of Kenma when it came to asking him about his possible secret identity.
“Remember, just be casual about it,” Your friend attempted to soothe you, but it didn’t help much.
She led you further into the gym until you stumbled upon a group of kids wearing your school’s volleyball jackets. You're quick to notice the duo that frequent the cafe. Ok, just keep it casual.
“Hey!” Your friend calls out, catching the attention of the captain and his friend. She drags you closer to the group before letting go of your hand, a quiet signal to leave so they can talk privately.
You take the hint, walking away with Kenma wordlessly. He walks towards a wall and you essentially follow him, trying to figure out a way to talk to him. If he notices your inner turmoil, he doesn’t say anything. He leans against a wall and pulls out his phone, tapping away at his screen. It isn’t until you hear a familiar sound coming from his phone that you look over, recognizing the game he’s playing.
“You play that game?” You ask, genuinely surprised seeing another person play.
Kenma briefly looks over at you, almost as if he was surprised to see you next to him, before quickly looking back down at his phone, “Yeah.”
Simple and quick— you should’ve expected that given what you see during your shifts. He didn’t seem like the type for conversations with people he didn’t know well. In fact, if you looked close enough, it seemed he’d rather be anywhere but here. Silence ensued and only the sounds from his phone could be heard.
“Have you had the chance to check out the arcade a couple blocks from here? The one in front of that one restaurant?” You nervously ask, fiddling with a loose end at the bottom of your shirt.
He stops and for a moment you think you’ve distracted him and accidentally killed him in the process, but he nods. “I have, it’s fun. I only really play one game though.”
Your eyes widen at his comment and you try your best to compose yourself. “By any chance.. are you Applepi?”
That gets him.
He stops moving again and you look over at his screen— this time it seems you did kill him. He looks at you with confusion swirling in his eyes. “How do you know that?” He asked hesitantly, almost like he was afraid of your answer.
You tell him the name you use when playing, one he quickly recognizes. “For the past couple of weeks you’ve been beating my score and I finally found you.” You laughed, partially because you found the situation funny and partially because you were anxious about his response.
When he didn’t respond you got nervous. You looked over at your friend and found she was still talking to Kuroo. You internally groaned, there was no way for her to come save you. You slowly turned your head to face Kenma and saw him looking at you with an unrecognizable look in his eyes. It was almost akin to sparkles— but there was a hint of something else.
“How’d you know?” He asked, keeping his eyes on you. It was the first time he ever really looked at you directly, like he was curious about how you figured it out.
“I saw you eating an apple pie once at the cafe.” You responded honestly before realizing you sounded crazy for remembering what he ate. “Then I saw you at the arcade after you finished playing.”
He hummed and looked down at his phone despite it being turned off. You pretended not to notice the tips of his ears turning red.
“You said it had been boring, so let’s make it interesting and place a bet.”
That caught his attention. “A bet?” He repeated, eyeing you nervously.
You nodded. “A bet. We continue doing what we’ve been doing but at the end of the month whoever has the highest score wins.”
He looks at you with suspicious eyes. “And what does the winner get?”
“.. Did you by any chance happen to win a calico plushie at the claw machine? One with a yellow spot over its eye?”
A surprised look quickly comes on to his face again. “..Yeah?”
You feel your eye twitch at his answer. “I want that.” You quickly stated. You know you sounded demanding, like a spoiled child crying about wanting something they didn’t have, but you had been eyeing it for so long you couldn’t help but want it. You feel it’s only right too after all the emotional and financial damage he caused you.
Kenma hesitates, but ultimately gives in to your request. “Then what do I get?”
“Well, what do you want?” You ask, not knowing him well enough to suggest anything. Hopefully it’s not money. You shiver at the thought. Your bank account just recovered, you couldn’t go back now.
He doesn’t answer, looking away from you. “I’ll think about it.” He mumbles.
“Alright then!” You cheer, excitement filling your body. “So it’s a bet?” You ask, extending your hand.
Kenma looked at your hand, slowly reaching out and accepting. You couldn’t help but notice how warm his hands were.
After your little bet the two of you had exchanged numbers to settle some things.
Something you were quick to notice was how much of a dry texter he was, though it wasn’t surprising given how he was in real life. During a conversation (that you initiated) Kenma commented on how it wasn’t fair that you’d have more time to spend at the arcade than him because of his volleyball practice, but you reassured him that you wouldn’t spend all day there since you had work (and homework) to focus on.
Now if this was the old you participating, you would’ve immediately headed straight to the arcade after school to rack up as many points as you could and get a head start, but you had changed for the better. This was a little friendly rivalry, it wasn’t anything too serious.
But you still planned on winning to maintain your title as number one and get that cat plush.
The two of you also decided not to tell each other when you’d be at the arcade. Your schedules had to remain a mystery just as they had always been.
“It’s not like we don’t already have a general idea of each other’s schedules.” Kenma mumbled, picking at his desert. “I’m basically here everyday now.”
You nodded in agreement, eyes shifting over to your friend and Kuroo’s table. After the game they had officially become an item. They were giggling together and on their table was a single drink containing two straws— truly a romantic sight.
“Yeah, but without confirming anything neither of us really know, it makes this a little more exciting.” You smiled at the scene before turning to look at Kenma. “Wait, why do you even come anyway? You don’t need to third wheel Kuroo anymore since he’s with Riko.”
You saw his eye twitch and held back a giggle. You knew he’d say the same thing back to you if it weren’t for the fact you worked here.
It was currently about halfway through the month and you and Kenma had steadily become friends. With his frequent visits you noticed him becoming more expressive, he was almost like a cat. As long as you fed him treats he’d keep coming back, despite what he says.
“Kuroo still drags me along, he says I need to go out more.” He mumbled, taking a small bite of his pie.
“And he’s right, you need more sun.” You giggled, ignoring the glare he sent your way. “Can’t have my favorite cryptid hiding away forever.”
Lately this has become the norm. The two of you would share playful banter while your friends flirted just a table away. You bonded over both being the third wheel and lately, video games.
“Who do you think is gonna win?” You asked, genuinely curious about his thoughts.
He continues playing with the food on his plate, pushing around small pieces with his fork. “.. I don’t know. You’re actually pretty good at the game so it’ll be close.”
“Wow, is that a compliment from the Kenma Kozume?” You gasp dramatically, but your shock was genuine. If you had learned anything from spending time with him it was that it wasn’t common for him to praise someone so openly.
What caught you off guard was the smile he sent your way. “It was boring at first, especially when you stopped playing, but you made it interesting again.”
It was almost unsettling, he smiled as if he had something up his sleeve— no, he was enjoying this, and you were too.
Everyday you woke up you felt the thrill of the rivalry gnawing at your bones, making you excited to get through the day and head over to the arcade to see where you two stood. It wasn’t until a day before the competition ended that you remembered what your friend had said back at the arcade and realized what she meant.
She was right, this had gotten interesting.
A month had officially passed.
It was easy to see your excitement throughout the day. While on your way to school you nearly ran the whole way there as if rushing to school would make the day go by faster. During lunch you talked Riko’s ear off to the point where she traded you for Kuroo, leaving you with Kenma. He didn’t seem to mind as you talked, just nodded and continued playing on his psp. During the last class of the day Kenma was quick to notice you bouncing your leg, fidgeting with your pencil, and tapping your fingers on the desk.
He was surprised to see how this was affecting you. While he was excited to see the results you were clearly more eager than anyone to see who took the top spot. For a moment he questioned why this mattered so much, but then he remembered how you told him he’d been the only one to beat your score and held back a chuckle. He couldn’t lie, he enjoyed seeing you like this.
Once the bell rang you quickly turned around in your seat to face him, a common occurrence since the two of you became friends. “Are you ready?” You asked, placing your arms on his desk and leaning in close.
The giant grin on your face was contagious, he couldn’t help but let a small smile slip through. “Yeah, I’m ready.” He responded, grabbing his bag and standing from his seat.
Unlike in the morning this time you slowed your pace (mostly because Kenma refused to walk any faster than he needed to).
“You didn’t bring the cat plush,” You pouted, gripping the straps of your bag tightly to keep it in place.
“Are you that confident you’re gonna win?” He raised a brow. “Why are you obsessed with it anyway? You never told me.”
You shrug, “I don’t really have a reason, I just thought it was cute. I just remember the day I was gonna try and win it I didn't have any more coins left because I spent all my money trying to beat your score.”
He quickly whipped his head to face you. “You seriously have a problem..”
“Well it’s partially your fault, you made me competitive.” You crossed your arms.
The whole way to the arcade you bickered about whose fault it was until the bright neon lights came into view. You couldn’t help but grab Kenma’s arm to drag him inside faster, sprinting further inside until the game came into view.
You slowly approached the machine, still slightly anxious about the outcome. Kenma nudged your shoulder with his, catching your attention. He held up a coin in his hand, giving it to you. “Play a quick game, but don’t go crazy.”
You felt your heart do a small flip at the gesture. Kenma often came off as uncaring, but the truth is he cared a lot about those he was close with. You accept the coin from his hand, ignoring the brief skin contact before quickly shuffling towards the machine in hopes he wouldn’t see your expression.
You play a quick round, making sure not to go all out like Kenma said. Moments later you take a hit and lose the game, watching the screen shift. You take a step back and stand side by side with Kenma, eyes unblinking as the leaderboard pops up. Your eyes quickly glance over the names until they land on yours and Kenma’s.
“No way,” You mumble, clutching on to Kenma’s bag.
He said nothing at the action, only staring at the screen for a couple seconds before turning his head to face you. “Congrats.”
You cheered, shaking him from the joy you were experiencing. Kenma tried to lean away from you, especially after noticing the stares you were getting. He didn’t want to ruin your fun, but he seriously didn’t like the attention.
You notice and let go of his backpack. “Should’ve brought that cat,” You giggled.
“There’s no way I was going to carry that all day,” He sighed before pulling out his phone to check the home. You look at his screen and see it’s still early in the day, it would be a waste to leave.
“Hey since we’re already here, why not play a few games?” You ask, silently hoping he’d agree.
He shrugged and you took his answer as a yes. The two of you went around playing most of the two player games you could find. It was nice, most of the time you didn’t get to play these because Riko didn’t want to (she was extremely bad at them and hated losing).
“You’re actually kind of good..” You laughed after seeing both your scores on the screen.
“I play a lot,” He responded, taking a quick look at his phone. He gestured towards the exit and you nodded.
“I know you do,” You laughed. “I hear you all the time before class playing on your phone. It’s almost like you have an addiction..”
Kenma huffed at your claim. He never denied it, you held back a giggle. Once the two of you exit you see the sky is darker than it was when you first arrived. The two of you spent a lot of time there and you didn’t even realize it.
“I’m curious,” You start, catching his attention, “if you had won what would’ve you asked for?”
He didn’t answer right away, remaining silent. The sounds of footsteps were the only thing that could be heard between the two of you. Maybe he never decided what he wanted, you told yourself. You couldn’t blame him for it, you were mainly doing this to win and to keep your spot at the top. Though you were glad you won because you couldn’t risk him asking you for money (especially with his addiction).
Kenma cleared his throat, grabbing your attention. He avoided your gaze, keeping his eyes down at the ground before turning to look at you.
“I would’ve asked to keep playing with you.”
Extra:
You laid on Kenma’s bed, happily fidgeting with the cat plush you won against him. You sit up and see him sitting on the floor, his posture reminding you of a shrimp. Suddenly a thought crossed your mind.
“I have a question,” You start. Kenma hums from below you, acknowledging you but keeping his eyes glued on the screen in front of him.
“When you were playing Roblox, specifically Shrimp Games, why did you push me out?”
He quickly looks at you, confused, before looking back at his game. “Well obviously I didn’t know it was you back then, but I did it because I wanted to win and you were the closest to the door.”
You huff and lay back down. “Ok, well if you did know it was me would you still have pushed me out?”
He didn't respond and from this angle you couldn’t see his face. When you hear the sounds coming from the TV you turn your head and see he’s paused the game. He’s looking at you, a small smile on his face, almost like he wants to laugh.
“No, I wouldn’t.”
thank you for reading till the end! reblogs are greatly appreciated :D

Opinion time
honestly, I like the hero of time as much as the next person- OOT is one of my favorite games in the whole entire series and I love the characterization Jo-Jo gave him, but that doesn’t mean I can’t admit he’s an extremely flawed character
and I mean this in a good way, Jo-Jo wrote a character you can know did bad things and still like him /pos
but I didn’t like how, in the timeline parts, wind does confront and ask him “why did you leave?” And times only response is, in my own words
”I left it behind cuz I felt like it LMAO”
..????? yes he took percussions to make sure ganon “didn’t come back” (which.. he did, time knew the seal would break eventually. ganon literally screams out about how much he hates him and is coming for his descendants)
leaving an entire world behind to rot is just written off as “shit happens” and you can’t say “well time didn’t know what he was doing” because, at some point, yes he FIGURES OUT his actions have consequences /nm
Imagine being rulie, your entire world is a wasteland and you ask the guy who CAUSED its downfall “why does my land suck so much” he just goes “oops my bad”
in the child timeline he just fucks off, in the downfall timeline he dies, comes back, and says forget everybody else, he only really started giving half-a-shit in the adult timeline with twilight. We can see this with his blatant favoritism over him.
anyways this was me screaming at the clouds about how time isnt a cookie cutter hero, he’s flawed and he’s made mistakes and honestly? It makes his character better and more enjoyable. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk (feel free to give ur opinion on the matter)
okay sorry for any spelling mistakes or oddly autocorrected words, this was kinda a lot longer than i thought it would be alkjslkjs 😭
Okay this is an incredibly interesting perspective and I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone else with this exact take on Time. I have a much different view of his character and his actions, though it was nice to read yours! /gen
First off, I completely agree that Time is a incredibly flawed person, and that’s part of why I love his character so much. He is not perfect, he is not the best leader, he makes mistakes. I genuinely think that the only reason he’s leader of this group and why the others tolerate him being the unofficial official leader is because even they can acknowledge that Time is just the best person for that role. He is not a perfect leader, he is not and I don’t know if he’ll ever truly reach that, but looking at the other options, he really was the best for the role. (Warriors would’ve been incapable of fully separating the others from the military in his mind, Twilight wouldn’t have been able to go off as Wolfie without causing mistrust or doubt towards him in the beginning, and Legend simply didn’t WANT that. The only other person who possibly could’ve lead the group would be Sky, and while I do think that could work, Time has way more experience)
Time has made a lot of mistakes, in his games, in the comic, he’s not flawless. I think in the comic (LU) we most commonly see this through how he’ll say things that come across as incredibly flat, snappy, or a bit harsher than what was really necessary for the situation. And this is just something it seems like he’s always been like, at least with how Jojo characterizes him, because in that one sketch with him and Malon when they were younger, he said something that did very much come off as snappy/rude, and he immediately realized how what he said sounded and tried to make an attempt to apologize. In the most recent update, we see how his stress and emotions made him much snappier and harsh towards the others than he really needed to be. I’d even argue in some moments, when he’s talking about his past and we see parts of his past, he’s a BIT arrogant. He certainly isn’t that way anymore, or at least he’s not as arrogant, but we see some moments where he comes off ass a little full of himself, the one I remember the clearest is the expression on his face when he got into Gerudo Town and a bit how he was talking about it. He’s also able to admit his flaws and that he was too distracted and let that get in the way of him helping the others while Twilight was hurt
Where I disagree with you (AND THIS IS ALL MY OPINION AND MY INTERPRETATION) is on Time’s thoughts surrounding the whole timeline thing. I do not think he had ANY idea that he was creating a whole other timeline, nor do I think he really even had a choice. He was sent back in time in an attempt to stop Ganon from destroying everything, and I believe he’s spent all the years since thinking all he did was go back in time. I don’t think he ever even considered the fact that Wind’s timeline continued on without him there (screenshots taken from Timeline Talk 1, art credit to @/linkeduniverse)
He DIDN’T know what he was doing. He was like, 9-10 in the body of (roughly) a 17 year old, he was doing whatever he was told by Zelda, Rauru and the sages, the goddesses, whoever. And I don’t think ANYONE realized the consequences of sending him back in time like that. I genuinely think that this right here is where he realizes not only that the timelines split, but the timelines split because of HIS adventure/journey. And when faced with the idea that every time he used his ocarina he abandoned hyrule (kingdom) he seems horrified (also from Timeline Talk 1):
I also don’t think the others have any idea at all that Hyrule and Legend are on a separate timeline from everyone else. I think everyone who comes after Time on ANY timeline has heard of him, but Legend and Hyrule haven’t had the chance really to talk about their timeline with Time, at least not really like how Wind did. And even if they had, again, Time DIED in their timeline, which could not possibly in any way have been his fault 😭
So yeah, he did leave Wind’s timeline (which is the adult timeline), but he genuinely had no idea that it got ABANDONED. I think the way he was looking at is was like erasing and starting anew and not just writing over what was already written and leaving that there (if that makes sense). And even if he had realized he completely abandoned that time, I’m not sure it would’ve even been possible for him to go back, and if he HAD, there’s only one Time. Twilight either wouldn’t have been born, or he’ve been born in Wind’s timeline. Which raises some INTERESTING theories because if Twilight had been there, would his game have happened? If it HAD, would Wind even be a hero? Given that whole theory that Wind doesn’t even have the hero’s spirit and he CHOSE the hero life instead of the other way around. That’d honestly be so interesting to explore!! I kinda wanna write a fic on it
Time did was he was told to do, he did was he was guided to do by people older than him or who had more ‘power’ than him. He was around ten years old, I don’t think he had a “Lmao fuck this shit” attitude when timeline hopping, I don’t think he understood he was timeline hopping at all. He didn’t understand what he was doing and he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, he was just trying to survive, and I’ll even bet he really thrived on what little acknowledgement and appreciation he got for saving hyrule (kingdom) because he seems (to me at least) like after losing the Great Deku Tree and the Kokiri he was REALLY lonely
And yes, he definitely for sure has a soft spot for Twi. But aside from Twi JUST being his descendant, I think Time feels bad that Twi followed after him in the hero business. He probably realized Twilight was descended from him and then really LOOKED at him and saw everything that young man went through and Time probably felt AWFUL. And after realizing that Wind’s entire timeline suffered because of something he did, I’m sure he feels the same way towards Wind. Because he may not be Time’s blood, but he’s a KID and he’s been through so much. Also there could be an argument made that Time is such a hoverer around Twi rn because he was hurt. I’m sure Four could’ve been the one who was hit and Time would be hovering over HIM instead
TL;DR: Yes Time is incredibly flawed. That’s what makes him interesting, that’s what makes him a good character, I wouldn’t like him very much if he were perfect alkjslksj. But I do not think he intentionally abandoned the other timelines, nor do i think that has anything to do with why he seemingly favors Twi. He was a kid, I don’t think anyone understood what was happening. I think if Wind had never spoken up, Time never would’ve known
(also Timeline Talk 1):
but thanks for sharing your perspective! It’s always interesting to see the different ways we see the same character :) /gen

Anything planned for Whitetail? She’s bland in canon but I do love her
BB!Whitetail is so... I want to study her.
To begin with, she was an apprentice during the WindClan Massacre.
(Her mentor was not Onewhisker btw, he was too young)
She had two siblings, Graypaw and Blackpaw.
Graypaw was killed that night. Their mother, Sorrelcharm, probably also died.
Suddenly being thrust from her home and losing half of her family messed with her. Obviously. Who wouldn't feel this way
She has a perpetual sense of waiting for the "other shoe to drop." Like no home is truly safe, and it's a matter of time before the next big move.
Unfortunately... she's not totally wrong. Blackfur was either killed by TigerClan or a mine collapse. They were forced onto the Great Journey. Mudclaw's Civil War resulted in a raging inferno across the moor. Whitetail gets commended for how reliable and even-headed she is in the face of disaster, but it's because her mind is expecting the worst case scenario ALL the time.
Her personality is intense and orderly, only kept back by the fact she's a hopeless romantic.
PROFOUND sense of whimsy. She gives off a chilling air of seriousness, which stops people from discovering that she can be a real mush.
(Girlie galloping through the moor who whips off-course, as if she caught a glimpse of prey in her eye, only to have taken a short detour to crash through a puffy dandelion.)
When they all got to the lake, she had a brief fling with Onestar. She liked a lot about him-- his new status, yes, but also that when they were together they were just having fun. It was easy.
But... he didn't want it to continue romantically. He turned cold one day when the subject of kits came up.
They broke the unofficial relationship off unofficially, but a short while later he spoke to her again to arrange an honor siring.
He wanted to raise his kittens alone. Whitetail was willing to help him do that, as long as it could be known that she sired them. And that if the kittens wanted to know her-- they could do so.
But still, she didn't understand why he'd turned so suddenly. Not until much, much later.
But before then, she ended up developing an unlikely bond with Brushblaze.
Probably because they'd both been turned down by Onestar, funny enough. They were talking smack one day about failed relationships and it kinda clicked.
Whitetail: "Like idk, was it something I said? Am I the problem"
Brushblaze: "no, you're fine. He's the problem."
Voted WindClan's Most Intimidating Couple, between Whitetail's aura and Brushblaze's resting bitchface
They have two kittens together; Smokehaze and Galerunner. Around the time of their birth, Heathertail decided she wanted to take Whitetail up on the offer that had existed since she was born.
Brushblaze was a personal friend of hers for a long time, she wanted to know Whitetail, and she would like to experience what it's like to be a sister.
Sadly, Brushblaze didn't live to see his kittens become warriors, but Whitetail did.
Whitetail's BIGGEST personal failure interpersonally was, sadly, Breezepaw.
They were an awful match. Every wreckless action he took would badly set off her anxiety, which expressed as her snapping at him.
No matter how hard she tried to have patience with him, or how many times she scolded him to be more careful, it never ever worked.
On his end, the more visibly upset Whitetail became with him, the worse it made his fear of rejection. He was driven to do more and more dangerous acts to prove himself, which only served to make his mentor worse.
But ultimately, Whitetail was the mentor in this situation. She really tried, but she failed him as a teacher. They don't have the close bond that most apprentice/mentor relationships do, and Breezepelt only got lonelier.
For a while, Breeze felt like Brushblaze was "against him" for falling for his terrible mentor. It made it easy to reject his friend's advice when he said stuff like, "don't join the strange cult in the woods" and "this darktail bloke's a bit funny"
I think Whitetail has come a long way and is a much wiser person now than she was while she was Breezepelt's mentor... but.
She's cordial and accepting of Breezepelt now because it's what Brushblaze would have wanted. She doesn't trust him.
In fact she feels right about this. In her mind;
"Breezepelt needs to feel like part of the Clan, it's what Brushblaze would have wanted. Everyone deserves to feel safe, and more than that, this is the best way to neutralize him. When he's making soup and raising kittens, he's not hurting anyone... but he's had more chances than anyone here. Yeah I was harsh on him when he was a child, but he's made plenty of bad choices as an adult. I'm not being cruel or holding a grudge to keep him at a distance from Galepaw and Smokepaw... I'm being realistic. Brushblaze died to rescue him. I'm not going to lose more family to be nice."
This hurts Breezepelt... but it's fair. He tries not to think about it too much. He's learned the hard way that the people who will never like you anyway matter MUCH less than the people who love you.
I also don't really see a need to kill Whitetail off yet, because she makes a really good elder imo. She's practical but still likes to have fun, and is capable of giving really good analysis.

interconnected young númenórean OCs:
oruzîr: native of romenna from a faithful family, loosely associated with the brotherhood. he's taken when random people are being picked off the streets in Romenna in retaliation for a joint assassination attempt on Sauron and Ar-Pharazon (the loyalists are filtered out, of course, but he's very much not) and killed-slash-sacrificed. I am not giving any details but, uh, it's not pleasant by any means because of the whole "collective punishment and deterrent against treason" facet.
he also becomes the basis of a lot of númenórean/gondor-arnorian folklore about dead people appearing to their kin in dreams (together with gorlim from the first age probably) because he does. more than once, and all with namo's permission, he's just waiting for his best friend to arrive in the halls and there are those whose spirits can be raised by the appearance of someone who died well and is now a given value of okay.
angrod: yes, his parents chose a random name from the histories, next question; on a day to day basis he goes by something adunaic. taken on the same day as his best friend and for the same reasons, killed a few days after him. one of the people oru did talk to in dreams, they leave the halls together.
ireth: oru's cousin and other best friend, born and raised somewhere beyond romenna. her family moved to pelargir a few years before the other was killed, because the situation in númenor was getting too bad for their liking and that's probably how she survived everything that happened. also talks with oru in a dream, raises a symbolical grave for him in her garden which becomes something of a local curiosity/chapelet in later days. her letters regarding the post-mortem conversation are probably the best preserved account of the whole idea. childhood friend to several members of the brotherhood.
dirên: youth engaged to avalêzrê, very deep in illegal activities. he is killed while leading a fugitive "traitor" to the coast.
khamil: dirên's younger brother, raised by him after their parents passed on from illness, 14 at time of death. in the absence of a dirên to question he is unfortunately arrested by the king's men and brought to the temple where in dire circumstances he manages not to reveal the names of any of his brother's co-conspirators. I feel guilty for killing him off because lil bro is the same age and I realised that's actually a kid when I put the two together.
avalêzrê: she's the unofficial leader of a group in romenna that calls itself the brotherhood for lack of a better name and consists of several "full-time" and several looser affiliated members. their goals are non-military, they mostly occupy themselves with the collection of medical and financial support, preservation of art and culture, as well as passing on messages for whoever among the faithful might have need such service.
tirithon: core member of the brotherhood. taken by sauron, he is unable to keep many of the others secret under interrogation. sacrificed soon after.
azgabar: friend of tirithon betrayed by him. he holds no grudge and forgives him in the halls before they go on.
azrathel: sole survivor of the brotherhood, former neighbour of oruzîr and angrod. she meets and becomes a friend of ireth after the downfall.
súrion: an acquaintance/loose friend of azrathel and one of the people who came up with the assassination plot. if he ever learns about the azrathel-ireth-oruzir connection it's going to be awkward, especially as he's probably going to meet ireth someday. ("your cousin kinda died instead of me, and tbh neither of us should have died but uh if anyone here committed treason it was not him and maybe I should have predicted the outcome")
#this probably pins the speaker of my last númenor fanfic as azrathel really#also idk if I'll be able to write anything more for them cause uh. I declined to share anything about oru's manner of death#but I did come up with something and now I can't unsee it when I think about him#and I can't really say 'no that's not what happened' either because sauron very much WOULD do that#also this is why i say I'd prefer to live under hitler than pharazon; when the nazis did retribution they at least put people to the wall#(also yeah I know they did worse things too AND it's me coming up with the Númenor stuff mostly#but in my defense antiquity-ish despots were big on gruesomeness)#tw human sacrifice#tw death#tw implied torture#tw child death#<- writing about númenor comes with a ridiculous number of these thought the above are the ones I use most often#*sighs*#oruzîr#angrod of romenna#ireth#dirên#khamil#(have I given the youngest of the victims a name that is one letter off from the name of my brother who died in childhood... yeah it seems.#maybe I'll change it because this is awkward)#avalêzrê#tirithon#azgabar#azrathel#súrion#númenor#my post#Silmarillion#silm

Sweet as Sugar- Jack Kelly x fem reader.
Jack Kelly x Plus-Size Baker!Reader
The smell of cinnamon and freshly baked bread wafted through the narrow streets of New York City. The morning sun cast golden light over the bustling market stalls, but Jack Kelly was in his usual spot, perched on a crate near the bakery window, sketchbook open on his lap. Every so often, he'd glance up at the woman behind the counter, her cheeks dusted with flour as she laughed and rolled out dough with practiced ease.
That was you.
The bakery was your pride and joy, tucked between a fruit stand and a tailor's shop. You'd taken it over after your father passed, determined to keep the family business alive. You didn't mind the early mornings or the long hours. What you loved most, though, were the Newsies—the scrappy, energetic boys who made your shop their unofficial headquarters.
"Morning, Miss Sweetheart!" Racetrack called as he pushed the door open, the bell jingling above him. You turned with a smile, hands busy tying up a box of fresh pastries.
"Morning, Race. Chocolate croissants today," you said, sliding the box across the counter. "For you and the boys. On the house."
His grin widened as he peeked inside. "You're a saint, y'know that? The boys'll flip for these."
Jack appeared behind him, his ever-present charm in full effect. "Morning, sugar."
"Morning, Jack," you replied, trying to ignore the warmth that spread across your cheeks. You'd known Jack for a while now—his quick wit and easy smile had drawn you in from the start. But you'd always been hesitant to hope for anything more.
Jack leaned against the counter, his hat pushed back on his head. "You spoil us, y'know that? You're like our fairy godmother or somethin'."
You laughed, a rich, full sound that made Jack's smile soften. "Someone's gotta keep you boys fed."
"Yeah, but why?" He tilted his head, a playful look in his eyes. "I mean, you could sell these for double what you charge us."
Your smile faltered, just for a second. "Because you remind me of family. And because everyone deserves something sweet now and then."
Jack nodded, his gaze lingering on you a little longer than necessary. There was something about the way you spoke—with such care and warmth—that made his chest ache. He wasn't used to people being kind for no reason.
Over the next few weeks, Jack found himself spending more and more time at the bakery. He'd bring his sketchbook, claiming the light was better near your window, or he'd offer to help you carry flour sacks, even though you always insisted you were fine.
One afternoon, after the rush had died down, you caught him staring at one of your pies with a curious look.
"Something wrong with the pie, Jack?" you teased, wiping your hands on your apron.
"Not the pie," he said, meeting your eyes. "Just thinkin' how much care you put into this place. Into us."
You shrugged, trying to play it off. "I like taking care of people. And baking's kinda my love language, I guess."
Jack raised an eyebrow, leaning a little closer. "Love language, huh? So what's it mean when someone sketches pictures of someone else all day?"
Your heart skipped a beat. "Depends on the pictures."
Jack reached into his sketchbook, flipping through pages until he found what he was looking for. He slid the book across the counter, and your breath caught. There you were, surrounded by flowers and pastries, your laugh practically coming off the page.
"I didn't know..." you started, but Jack interrupted.
"You're beautiful, Y/N," he said softly. "Not just in the way you look, but in how you care. How you light up a room. I wanted you to see yourself the way I see you."
Tears pricked your eyes as you looked at the drawing. "Jack, I..."
He reached across the counter, his fingers brushing against yours. "You don't gotta say anything if you don't want to. But I think you're somethin' special."
You smiled, warmth spreading through you. "You're not so bad yourself, Jack Kelly."
From then on, the bakery wasn't just a refuge for the Newsies. It became a place where you and Jack built something sweeter than any pastry—a connection that made the city feel just a little smaller and a lot more like home.

POV you’re Breaking Dawn Quackity:
You’re a werewolf in a pack with Roier
Roier has a crush on the pack’s unofficial leader, Spreen, whose only love is his silver-coated switchblade
You have a crush on Roier, because why wouldn’t you? He’s perfect- funny, handsome, ripped
But Things Go Down, and Roier leaves the pack. He leaves you, and he doesn’t look back
Except he does because he’s texting you a week later like nothing happened, so it’s fine
A year passes, and Roier might hate you actually. But it’s fine, you’re mostly over your crush at this point (even if he isn’t over his…)
Then a handsome older man walks into the store you work at during the summer when school isn’t in session
He’s Luzu, and he’s a Computer Guy.
You start dating, and it goes well most of the time (when he’s actually there, that is)
Much later, you meet a dad dropping off his son on the first day of classes, and he’s beautiful
He’s also very, very dense. Cellbit is smart, but he’s also an idiot when it comes to anything not related to literal murder
Then Luzu disappears
Then Luzu dies
Then Roier comments to an officer at the morgue that it’s kinda weird that you never actually reported him as missing. Your child did.
Luzu is dead
You meet a vampire named Wilbur at a bar. He’s a musician. That’s awesome
Luzu is dead
Cellbit and Roier get together. Cellbit invites you to the wedding. Roier growls at you when his husband isn’t listening
Wilbur sleeps over more times than not, and it’s nice
It’s midnight. Someone knocks on your door and, when you answer it, your dead boyfriend is on your porch dripping dirt
Your name is Quackity, and you still don’t know how to feel

Sure pookie💖
The last lore post even made me get off my ass and actually name+think a bit more about the seraphim siblings
So I was kinda vague with the advancement district last time since it’s kinda (really) messy, but it’s basically the huge hospital/laboratories of heaven, where technology and experiments are held.
Only thing is, Hui Shizhuo, by far the youngest Seraphim and the seraphim in charge of the district, is secretly dead and Yang Hu (military seraphim) is illegally acting in place of him being a lil silly.
And one day, Yang Hu he saw Qing Xia down on earth who got a score of 800 on the gaokao (massive test every Chinese student has to take that determines their entire future, irl highest score is 750) and did a bunch of other stuff in the scientific/medical field, basically being any Chinese parents’ dream.
The only problem is that when he went down to earth, Xia was happy and didn’t wanna abandon literally everyone she knew for some shady angel. So he did the only sensible thing and dropped some of his blood into her eye, allowing him to slowly affect her mind and make her obsessive about her research and stuff (why she has weird red veiny marks on half of her body, the “veins” grew down from her eyes over time).
Then he left and let his blood kinda fester in her mind, until everyone left her because she was literally going insane and starting to only value her science (also she killed a bunch of people or something). When he came back she accepted and she became the only human working him heaven..
For what she does, well during the centuries war a lot of angels died, but angels don’t decay so heaven just had a bunch of fresh corpses laying around, and they gave a bunch of them to Qing Xia for her to figure out how to “improve” angels.
Eventually her research led to Yang Hu “redesigning” Yin Hu and her sister (who is currently declared fallen and dead, but is definitely not actually the very much alive Wei Zhi) to become stronger but also more feral and now they murder 100x better.
For the civilian seraphim, Chaoxiang Ji, he’s the second oldest and probably the sanest of his siblings, probably since a insane person looking after 80% of the population of angels wouldn’t end good.
He doesn’t really have much going one, but he doesn’t like Yang Hu, and is very aware of how cruel and dangerous he is even for a seraphim. So when he notices Shizhou suddenly making strange decisions that line up with Hu’s line of thinking, he became suspicious. Eventually his suspicions get so bad, it leads to him making a shady deal with Liu’s dad.
For the missions seraphim, Wang, they were originally the civilian seraphim, but got moved and Ji took their place. They’re the oldest and the most mysterious, even to their siblings (why only their last name is known). They’re definitely the favorite child and the most connected to the Order god, it being said they have direct contact with them.
They rarely make children, even during the war where angels were dying left and right, they only made 2…. who died and Qing Xia has since “revived” in questionable ways.
They have certain beef with Caihong Liu’s dad, who is basically a unofficial angel but of chaos (also a great deadbeat, who knows where he currently is, certainly not Liu or her mom). During the centuries war Liu’s dad managed to find Wang and cut off one of his wings, making him go into hiding indefinitely (to this day, they rarely even talk to their siblings, just assigning and accepting or rejecting missions sent their way)
And finally the military seraphim, Yang Hu, is the second youngest, being made near the start of the centuries war, hand in hand with the arch angels. Despite not being a archangel himself, he’s noticeably more aggressive than the others, having his outbursts and giving threats much more commonly than them.
He was made especially cruel and uncaring for his children because of his job and basically all the arch angels hate him for being like your work manager but 100x worse (AND they’re all forced to carry his stupid last name).
But the rest of heaven actually kinda love him because while he didn’t win the war, he helped make it end in a tie which allowed heaven and the angels to continue existing (However that opinion quickly changed when they found out about a certain secret of his).

Hi would I it be ok if asked about innate, holder and patron in your world building ? I’m very curious 💗 it looks like a very cool /interesting concept /idea ^^
Teeheeeeee this is old but i just found it again
(im gonna include the map for convenience)
this is the canon map and ive changed something but overall its still accurate for now
Ok I'm gonna give ppl names for my sanity Pergrande is the main country, that's where the main royal family lives So from now on I'm gonna call them the pergrandes And the royals of fiore have the last name fiore so that's what I'm calling them The pergrandes have been expanding for at least a century by the time canon starts They take over the bordering countries and continue to spread, I'm leaning heavy into the crusades and Christian/catholic ideas of monarchs being the tru voice of God etc etc Which is basically the philosophy of the pergrandes Except also they r like, the capital from the hunger games Fiore, centuries ago, when dragons were still vibing, was where the dragons and shit lived, plot shit happened w achnologia and they were all wiped out, making fiore relatively vacant with the exception of a human city, magnolia, which becomes the capital for fairy tail SO The zodiac church's, bc they r an institution, r mainly centered in minstrel but over the centuries have branches in almost every country, even pergrande It's basically the secondary opposing religion to the big fake Christian one I haven't ironed out yet The justines r old money, a branch off of the fiores and live comfortably but keep to themselves, made up of scholars who just kinda study runes and shit Meanwhile u have the heartfilias and the agiras, both families have been in a power struggle over the zodiac churches for years until one day the heartfilia line just seems to dissappear and the agiras just take over Agira is angel and yukinos family When the pergrandes take over minstrel, they cut a deal with the zodiac churches that if they operate under the royal family and basically act as an unofficial secondary milita for them they can keep doing their shit The heartfilias, Layla and her father, r super against this while the agiras r for it, layla is being married off to some rich bitch in fiore so she kinda loses her vote unofficially and the deal is made Layla is forced to leave and she dies within the next few years and that's kinda that Like I said, the justines throw their weight behind the new royal family and the pergrandes r like we need soldiers like rn and the justines go bet we will get u soldiers And they make the military school that Freed, juvia and all of freeds sisters go to And most orphans in the empire The royal family basically has an unspoken policy abt orphans with magical potential (which there r a lot of orphans due to how much war there was and how it devastated certain places that they do not care abt) either the kids go to the military schools, or to the tower of heaven First off, biscas family is also a branch of the justines, one of them married someone below their class and was basically disowned and cast out, the justines humiliated her family which forced them out of fiore (they moved waaay before canon starts) So it's been a couple generations before bisca goes to fiore and has like, no idea she's at all tied to the justines I want drama of freed not knowing who she is either but one of his sisters maybe pulls up for plot reasons and is literally appalled that she is there
sorry if thats boring or confusing but I was fr going crazy coming up w this stuff so it needs to go somewhere

masterlist
You were sitting in front of her grave.
The cold chill of New York winter settles into your bones. The trees were barren of any leaves with autumn having left a few weeks ago, no snowfall yet thankfully. The grass has been freshly cut along with some watering causing you to sit in a bit of wet grass, at least your coat was taking the moisture.
You brought some new flowers, just some simple white roses. The other flowers have been slowly wilting since your last visit, and you never want to have dead flowers resting with Aunt May’s grave.
As you replace the flora you sit back on the ground with the wilting stems staying in your hands to keep you from fidgeting around and picking the grass as you talk to her. You try to visit once a week, but sometimes you can only come twice a month because it will just hit you really hard one day that you have no one left, no immediate family anymore. The closest you have to any type of family is Happy Hogan, MJ, and Ned, which is kind of weird because when you think of your memories that involve the three of them, something is missing, a piece of a puzzle that won’t fit in its place.
“How are you today, may?” The wind just blows the hair around your face in different directions.
“I started to work at the Peter Pan cafe with MJ. Sometimes we have shifts together, but honestly, it’s kinda rare since it doesn’t get too busy there. The boss is an older man who’s lazy and has a snippy attitude for no reason, but it's an easy job. Don’t have to worry about my anxiety kicking in.” You stared down at your gloved-covered hands that clutched your crossed legs. Your lips rolled together as you let the silence cover you, thinking of what else to mention.
“Uh… Happy. Happy- he misses you, I miss you. He- uh… he took me in, unofficially adopted me. I’m thankful for him cause if I had to do all this- this, I don’t know, just I’m thankful he took pity on me and didn’t leave me to the wolves. MJ and Ned said they would’ve taken me in, but I think they just said it out of friendliness.” You shrugged your shoulders at the thought.
You perked your head up and glanced around the cemetery. Dozens of headstones, some having more grandeur stone carvings with angels or whatever. Fallen autumn leaves tumbled and kicked across the grass, sticking to trees or headstones before a breeze pushed them away and further off. It seemed you were the only person visiting a loved one at the moment, you wished someone accompanied you, but you liked being with May by yourself.
“Oh, uh, school. Probably want to know about school. I- I- I think I’m gonna take a gap year. Process and readjust to everything and I know if I was doing school I wouldn’t give my all and I don’t want to let you down. Plus, I need money and so I’ll probably need to work a few jobs- wanna help Happy with bills so he doesn’t feel stuck with me.”
A puff of air left your lips as you rubbed your arms up and down your biceps to get a good warmth back into your bones so you could stay longer. With a lick to your lips and a furrow to your brow, you hesitantly spoke a thought that’s been sitting on your tongue for a while, only feeling brave to speak them towards May.
“Ever since you- since you left… something has felt… off. I- I don’t even know what feels off, just that I’m missing something- someone in my life. But I don’t have anyone else. Mom and dad were gone too soon for me to remember their faces, Ben passed away a few years ago and then all I had was you. May... you’ve been my mom, you are my mom. And- and when the blip happened and we came back, that was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. Feeling like you were gone for only a minute but then people are telling you that it’s been five years and half the population turned to dust… but you came back and I felt safe again. And we got back into some normal groove again. And then hearing that you got into an accident and were killed-” your throat started to choke with restrained tears, “I’ve never been more scared in my whole life.”
You let a cry free before pulling yourself back in, wanting to continue your rant, “but, what I’m trying to get at… something feels out of place. I feel like someone is missing from the giant picture, memories feel like they’ve been edited- cutting out that person from our life, my life. Memories with MJ and Ned feel weird, and memories with Happy feel weird as well. Like trying to think about how the two of you met… something is burned away. I- I don’t know, probably just trying to find something to focus on.”
Your eyes met the dark stone, the words May Parker engraved with her date of birth and death. Your shoulders sagged, you were just talking to air about a nagging thought. Should probably look into getting therapy.
“I should start heading back, Happy’s probably worried about me.” You dusted your jacket and pants clean of any grass, might have a few wet spots soaking the fabric.
You stuffed your hands into the jacket pockets and just stood, not making an effort to leave just yet. There was a crunching of leaves that soon filled the quiet and you didn’t think anything of it, it could have been another visitor or Happy who came to visit and take you home, which happened a few times already. But when you looked in your periphery, it wasn’t someone at another grave and it wasn’t Happy. It was a boy.
Out of curiosity, you turned your head enough to get a proper look at the new arrival. You eyed him from head to toe, never seeing him around before. He looked to be about your age, just a teenager. A beanie covered his head, he wore a blue puffer jacket with a few stripes at the top with simple jeans and sneakers, nothing standing out. But there was just something about him…
“How did you know May?” The mystery boy spoke. It took you off guard, “huh?” Was all that came out. He cleared his throat and jerked his chin, again, “how- uh- how did you know May?” He turned to you before turning away.
“Oh, she- she was my aunt. Well, my mom really. Lived with her when I was young.” You stopped there and it was silent. You counted to five before asking, “how did you know her? If I may ask?” Your manners popping in.
The boy was quiet, eyes set on her name. He sniffled then wet his lips, “feast. I knew her from feast. She was- she was nice, always kind to everyone. She was like the mother I never had. I’m glad you had her as family.” His voice cracked on the word family, something you noted but didn’t push for further.
“Yeah. She was always looking out for the little guys.” A smile to your lips. “Was it just the two of you?” The boy asked then backed tracked, “only if you feel comfortable saying. Sorry, it just- it just slipped.”
You looked at the boy. He wasn’t fidgeting, but you could tell from his eyes that he was nervous about something. Your eyes just wandered over him, sure it may seem rude but you couldn’t help it. It was like a magnet was pulling you and you couldn’t resist the hold it had on you. You thought about lying to this stranger, but you didn’t. “Yeah. Well, it wasn’t always just the two of us. She had a husband, his name was Ben, and he’s buried in his home state. But he got shot during a robbery about… a decade ago… blip time difference is weird.” You mumbled off, realizing he died five years ago for you but with your dusting, that added an extra five. The boy agreed with a light chuckle, it warmed you.
“What about you? Any family still with you?” Bouncing back on his question.
His eyes drooped a slight frown on his face, “uh…no. No family, just me.” His eyes caught yours before, once again, looking away. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to-“ “Oh! No, it’s- it’s fine. I was asking the questions first anyway.”
You rolled your lips as you swayed on your feet. Neither of you decided to speak, just stood beside each other as you stared at the headstone and listened to the leaves falling. You wanted to look at the boy again but withheld yourself from doing so.
“I should- I should head home. But it was nice to meet you…” you trailed off hoping he’ll present his name. “Peter… Peter Parker.” He held a smile at the last name.
“Huh, funny coincidence. I’m (Y/n), Parker obviously.” You bid Peter a smile goodbye and turned your back to make your walk to the subway.
“Hey! Uh (Y/n)!” You heard the shouts and the crunching of leaves beneath his feet as he hurried to catch up with you. You stopped your steps and looked at Peter as he stopped a few steps away.
“Do you… do you take the subway?” “Yeah…”
“Do you mind if I walk you? I just- I would just feel a lot better knowing you made it safely plus I think May would… sorry- sorry. Only if you want, of course, I mean you just met me and-“
You stepped closer and touched his arm, “hey, it’s fine. I would like the company. Plus, it’s just the subway, you’re not walking me to the front door.” You shrugged at the end before nodding your head to the iron gates.
-
The two of you traveled down the busy and packed streets of New York. Shifting and turning your bodies so you didn’t bump into anyone, especially someone who wasn’t in the right mood that day. The walking was quiet at first, two strangers who just met and didn’t know what boundaries were already drawn. You kept making glances at Peter beside you before looking away, at the sky or the buildings around you.
“Are you in school?” Peter was the first to ask, once again. You were thankful he took the first steps.
“Oh, well I’m eighteen so I’m about to graduate high school. And I was planning to go to college, out of state or in state, not sure. But after May… I’m taking a gap year. Want to get my bearings first before I focus back on school… How’s your academic future?” You eyed him as he watched you talk.
“Uh, well I’m eighteen as well. And something happened during the school year so I kinda have to start senior year over again. I was planning to go to MIT for college, but that’ll just have to wait.” He scratched his nose before stuffing his hand back into his jacket pocket.
“Another coincidence. Two of my friends are going.” You saw the smile Peter tried to hide from your comment.
“Do you have a job, Mr. Parker?” Already giving joking nicknames.
You didn’t notice the stiffness to his shoulders or the sadness that glazed over his eyes before stuttering, “uh, I’ve applied to a- a few different jobs. Kinda hard- not a high school graduate so my options are limited. Gotta look for the desperate places.”
“But those are kinda sketchy. Not the safest.”
His attention was on you, “yeah, well, I can handle myself.” He nudged your arm and pulled a smile from you as you shook your head. “What about you? Any sketchy jobs?”
“Not sketchy, just boring and quiet. I work at a small café with my friend. An easy job since I have anxiety.” You keep your answers vague with enough detail.
Silence came back around. Cars honking and people talking to each other or over the phone. Couples holding hands or looped around each other.
“Anyone special in your life?” Was your first question to come to mind.
You weren’t sure if the flush was due to the low temperature or the abrupt question towards Peter, who’s still a stranger, about if he was seeing someone.
“No, no. I- I had someone, but she left me. For the best, I think.”
“Why is that? Secretly with the mob or something?”
He laughed, “Nah, nothing like that. Just… I'm broken and a mess. Don’t want her dealing with… all that.” He made a circling hand gesture. You just hummed.
You weren’t paying much attention to your surroundings so you didn’t see the group of kids running and pushing into everyone coming your way. So with a tight hold on your bicep and a yank, you yelped and looked around. Peter pulled you behind him and you followed his eyes as you watched the kids pass as they shouted and yelled.
“Stupid kids.” You muttered before continuing your walk. “Thank you, for pulling me.” “Oh, it’s nothing.”
You were only a block or two away from a station.
“What about you?” “What about me?” “Anyone special?” He had a playful tone to his words. You just shrugged your shoulders.
“I’ve never been anyone’s first choice. I stick more to the shadows anyway, used to get bullied, so I keep my head down and mouth closed,” you looked to see if he was listening, and he was, “also, I’m kinda a hopeless romantic. Romance books, love songs; especially Taylor Swift's love songs, and a few rom-coms. Anyway, what I’m saying is that, no. No one special, probably not for a while. But maybe that’s okay, maybe I’ll find ‘the one’ when it’s time.”
Peter didn’t respond to your words. You smacked a hand over your face.
“What? What’s-“ “I just spilled my random thoughts to you, who’s still a stranger.”
You pulled your hand away and ran your fingers through your hair before moving it to your pocket for warmth. You looked at Peter and you were just full-on staring, eyes roving over his side profile or his face if he looked your way before facing forward. A tilt of your head came up.
“You know… maybe it wasn’t a coincidence.” You kept looking at Peter. “What wasn’t?” His eyes were on his feet.
“Meeting each other.” And you looked away just as Peter almost tried over his feet even as he watched every step. You kept walking, not aware of the cogs turning in Peter’s mind as he processed your words.
“What- What do you mean? How isn’t this a coincidence? I think it was just lucky timing.”
You threw a hand out as you talked, “What I mean is… maybe May sent you this way. Two people she knew and cared about, both lonely and without a family around. Plus come on, your last name is Parker. That's just crazy. I don’t know, just- it’s just crazy!”
You smiled at the boy as you crossed the street and walked down the crowded and smelly stairs leading to the subway. You checked to see if Peter was still with you and when you saw he was pushed back by a few people, you moved to the side and waited for him to meet your side. You flashed a smile when he reappeared and you both continued on your walk toward the entrances. You checked to see if any cops were around and seeing none you hopped over the spinning entrance, Peter a second behind.
“What train do you take?” “A train, you?” “F for me.”
You thought this meant that the two of you would split up, but Peter walked with you and stayed by your side as you waited for your train to arrive. You checked your pockets to make sure you had your phone, wallet, keys, and headphones, along with your taser and pepper spray that Happy bought for you. You texted Happy that you were waiting for your train and should be home within the hour.
After about thirty-five minutes you heard the screeching of wheels on tracks and saw the lights glow into the station. You turned to Peter with a smile, “well, looks like my ride's here.” He nodded at your words and he opened his mouth and then closed it. You stayed back seeing if he’ll say the words on his mind.
As the train got closer and he didn’t say anything you decided to be the first to speak. “Would it be okay if I get your number? I- I know we just met, but… you seem like a good friend.” You cringed a bit, it was almost like a terrible pickup line. And you weren’t hitting on him, it just felt gross to even think that.
“Yeah, yeah. I’d love to have a friend.” Peter stopped your worrying thoughts. You passed him your phone and then he passed it back before pulling his out and showing a text on his home screen.
You started towards the open doors and passed the rushing people and with a quick turn, you called out to Peter and he looked your way waiting to hear what you needed to say before you let the subway whisks you away.
“Stop by feast when you can. We can always use the extra hands and May would be thankful.” And before you got any reply you walked further into the metal tub and took a seat, sticking an earbud in and pressing play on an album you’ve had on repeat.
Already planning to visit May tomorrow after your morning shift to talk about your new friend. And Peter would keep watch from a distance and when you left he would speak with May quietly. Promising her that he’ll keep you safe and be your friend, maybe not your brother never again, only in his mind.

Random Creepyhornets Heacanons
[i made that thumbnail btw]
Additional: in this canon, marble hornets takes place when youtube was extremely fresh & ends in 2006/2007. But in saying that the current time within this canon is 2008
The Mansion.
The Mansion is built on top of a massive cave
Context: Deeeep within the cave is a large pit of sorts which houses one of the Slenderman's 'towers' [which is a hivemind source. Think of it as a 'spawn point' for slender incase he 'dies']. Most of the food the proxies collect for slender is tossed into a basement corner which has a massive hole, The hivemind uses smaller roots to grab ahold of the food before dragging it into the depths
The Mansion is actually an asylum that was made into a "mansion"
You can still find some left over files fron when the asylum was up and running. A bunch of patient records, Weird experiements [which is probably why slender picked this place in the first place] and a bunch of cells
This also confirms that the 'basement' is a boiler room
The mansion moves around???
Well actually, The Forest moves around the mansion. But for this reasoning proxies need to be marked so they can find the mansion with ease, It has a strange 'six sense' thing going on where the proxies kinda know where the mansion is even when the forest shifts
Only proxies are allowed in the mansion
This just means that 'followers' or unofficial proxies aren't allowed in the mansion
Timothy Wright "Masky"
[drawn by my bestie @peachy-cloudds]
Background within this canon:
A year after marble hornets, Was shortly forced into becoming a proxy. The Operator's 'hauntings' becoming so bad to the point it was physically attacking Tim until he finally submitted. A choice he regrets to this day
Tim is a 'commander' or a 'leader' of sorts
Tim is a 'high ranking proxy' [which was a rank he was instantly given, alot of proxies hate him for how fast he ranked up], Meaning he can give orders and tasks to his follow proxies.
Tim's 'normal life'
Tim worked extremely hard to regain what was left of his life after marble hornets, Which meant him trying to be stable enough to hold a job as a Computer wiz, Of course having some experience with computers from marble hornets. He kinda dreads work but it's alot better then being a proxy and killing people
Tim constantly feels guilty for the things he's done as a proxy
As a proxy, It's your job to follow every order, Even if it means killing innocents.. But when being a proxy it's pretty much you or them.
Tim doesn't remember Entry 83
..... "I don't know what it is but.. something is off about brian.."
Tim's hobbies
One of tim's hobbies include photography, A thing he remembers enjoying in his childhood.. before he was sent away of course. He remembers having a shit camera he wondered around with and taking photos of whatever he saw as a kid
"I'm not like these freaks.."
Besides the events of marble hornets and his childhood, Tim is literally just a everyday guy. He's not a ruthless serial killer like everyone else in the manor nor is he some asshole some ppl make him out to be. He's just wrangled into this because of the Operator..
Tobias Erin Rodgers. "The Woodland Maniac"
[His surname is Rodgers in this canon, Just cuz no real big reason]
"You're wreckless Tobias.. That'll be your downfall" - The Operator
A Lot of the time Toby is pretty short tempered and doesn't like to be mocked, He prefers to be taken seriously like the other proxies around him. So he kinda does whatever to prove that he deserves respect like the others
"Everytime I look in the mirror.. He's there."
Toby fucking HATES looking in the mirror or at any of his reflections. Toby pretty much looks like a younger version of his father which pisses him off alot, Even beyond his dreams he seems to not be able to escape him
Toby dropped out of school at 17
Toby isn’t very good at Math or writing since he was pulled out of school when he was 15. Of course Connie tried to homeschool him but the rogers household wasn’t the best place for learning. But just because Toby isn’t extremely educated doesn’t mean he’s stupid, Toby can be pretty smart with certain scenarios thanks to his years as a proxy
spare time in Childhood
When Toby was younger Toby never really got to grow up with any computer/console games since and isn’t really familiar with the big brands. When he was little he heard of games like “mario” or “sonic” and was alil jealous of the other kids and their stable lives, However Toby always found himself being an outside kid which Connie considered to be a lot better than sitting in the house all day playing video games since, Toby spent most of his days doing that already
Fucking lies. All of them
Upon awakening Toby found himself in the edge of the woods, Feeling strangely sick from blacking out. His body aching while he coughed violently, Often coughing out bits of blood. Toby would begin to make his way to the edge of the forest before he finally broke through the treeline to find a group of police. While Toby was informed he was missing for about a month, Word had gotten out about Lyra’s sudden death along with Toby’s sudden disappearance and he was a prime suspect for her death thanks to his aunt Evelyn [Frank’s sister] spreading rumors about Toby possibly killing Lyra.
Skully "The Vessel"
"Whispering voices"
Skully tends to pause in between sentences due to some of the soul’s memories flashing before their eyes, It often distracts them and leaves them stunned for a second or two.
"Brian Isn't Here Right Now."
Skully often disguises themself as Brian / Hoody to scout around the mansion, Due to being a similar entity to the Operator it is unable to detect them. However there was only one tiny problem, Tim is a proxy too.. So one night Skully erased the memory of Brian dying before proceeding to weasel their way into the Manor. Using Brian as a meat suit
"Subspecies"
Skully is a lesser being of the Operator, Which means that they have similar abilities. Skully mostly uses teleportation though since they don’t wish to bring any form of harm to others.
"NULL."
Skully doesn’t really express any emotion, They often rarely talk or show any form of emotion. Their voice often montoned while Their body language often still similar to the Operator
"You can be fixed."
Skully is often a guardian angel for those who have been infected via drowning or the Operator, Often observing them in the distance and protecting them when they need too.
"How Much Do You Hate?"
Skully is often rarely aggressive however if provoked they tend to enter a more intimidating form that is similar to the Operator, Skully’s arms being outstretched while their mask expresses anger of sorts.
The Operator.
[drew this the first time i used procreate on my sister's ipad]
Living nest
Spiders tend to make small nests in the small holes that are on slender’s body, These spiders due to long exposure can give you the drowning if they bite you
"that horrible face.."
The Spiral in the center of Slender’s face can hypnotize it’s victims. In my canon it’s how Slender gains most of it’s proxies
[example image]
• "The Hivemind."
The Operator has more than one variant that all act as a single hive mind sharing the same exact thoughts. The following examples are The Tower, The Drones and Hallucination
The Tower: The Tower is the main source of the hivemind, These variants are basically the "Queen Bees" that pop out smaller versions of themselves to scout for food and return it to the Nest. Towers often borrow themselves deep underground where they cannot be touched, often growing extremely giant, For example they can grow to the size of the statue of liberty before stopping. Their tentacles can connect to the roots of trees which allows them to shift the forest at their command, It's also worth noting that the hivemind all share the same thoughts
Drones: The drones are basically mini clones of the hivemind that are produced so the tower doesn't have to expose itself to the outside world and get injured or killed, Their goal is to collect food until the Tower is ready to bloom. But a lot of the time these drones will hypnotize people into doing their biddings for them which is considered to be the norm nowadays. It's also less stressful for the drones in case they do not wish to be discovered by the outside world. Drones can also become towers if they live long enough
Hallucinations: These are as you expect, They're the dones way of messing with your head by haunting you and breaking you mentality. They often appear in hallucinations and aren't the actual drones themselves, The main way to tell the difference between a drone and a hallucination is by the color of their tie. Red means that they are physically there attacking you while black means it's not real
The Great Blooming / The Arrival
This event is pretty straight forward. So the main reason these towers need to collect so much food and souls is so that they can bloom, Their heads unraveling to reveal a black rose that shoots out a giant cloud of spores that will infect those whoever breathes the spores in. These spores have the regular side effects such as the drowning, However those who are infected with the Tower's Spores are a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. If one is infected long enough their heads will implode into a flower and spread more spores around them
Connie Melody Rodgers.
Young mother.
Connie had Lyra when she was pretty young, Connie was 21 when she had Lyra who was born in 1984 while she was 25 when Toby who was born in 1988.
public shame
Connie often avoids crowded areas and neighborhood events due to the amount of people pinning blame on her son for the casualties when Toby burnt down the neighborhood. At times they would pin the blame on her even though the outside world never really got an insight in the Rodgers Family Household
Small distractions..
Connie tries to distract herself as much as she can, Constantly bottling up all of these emotions she has inside of her the best she can trying not to break. These distractions are often work, Household chores, Cooking and Painting
Family drama
Connie often avoids Frank’s side of the family who were just as horrible as frank was. But they often come knocking at her door trying to rile her up and often threatening to take her to court. But alot of the time when Connie hears them knocking she just pretends she’s not there.
"Burnt It All To Cinders Burnt To Ash.."
Connie recently went back to the burnt remains of her house, When she found the old metal box that surprisingly protected the things she had put in it she nearly bursted into tears when she found all of the old familt photos she has.. Although She could’ve swore she put Lyra’s jacket in it

Charlie Timeline pt. 1
Hihi chat! I decided to throw caution to the wind and I'm gonna post Charlie's timeline in 3 separate parts. This part, (Part 1), is Charlie's life before they started working at the Colorado location. All of which will be under the cut for people's sanity. WARNING THERE IS. SO MUCH.
SO, Charlie was born in 1955, they were the quiet second child of Stella and Simon Deere, who weren't fond about having to raise another kid right after finally being done with their firstborn. When Charlie turned 3, that's when they started to leave Charlie at the Arizona Freddy Fazbender's.
Charlie was a really timid kid, not really knowing how to act around people. When nighttime came, they hid in the kitchen to sleep and avoid being found out by the manager at the Fazbender's, John Patterson. After around 2 weeks though, he noticed Charlie being a regular despite never seeing their parents, and unofficially adopts them. He does his best to raise them and provide for them when he can.
This is where Charlie's brother, Aaron, comes in! When he could, he would pick Charlie up from the Fazbender's and bring them back home. When Charlie was 3, he was 20, having moved out recently himself. He helps John provide for Charlie, but going through his own issues, isn't really there for Charlie besides picking them up and his monthly visits with them.
This leads us to The EventTM! If you're familiar with the Arizona location in Dayshift, you'll know that Dave YEETED Foxy off the side of the Grand Canyon. That still happens here with one addendum. John goes with. And as far as anyone knows, John died jumping into the canyon. He left all his belongings and trailer to Charlie. The trailer is where Charlie spends pretty much all of their time, either teaching themselves from the books John left behind or just. spiraling. The majority of their self destructive tendencies started around here, as Aaron started visiting less and less as well.
At 23, Charlie finally has enough and packs the trailer up to move. Aaron drives them to the airport where they head for Colorado. Why Colorado? They recall John talking about a colleague who worked there, and Charlie hopes they can meet them. In this time period they take up whittling, making little figures of people they know or knew. Also not so fun fact, Aaron driving Charlie to the airport is the last time he ever sees or hears from them :D
Moving swiftly on, here are Charlie's neighbors! Totally not just human Dialtown Oliver and Randy!! cough. Oliver runs the local cinema nearby and also is the owner of the building. Him being the friendly guy he is of course tried multiple times to catch Charlie as they leave their apartment on the rare occasion to say hi. It takes a few months but Oliver finally gets to meet them, and despite Charlie being lowkey just a straight ass to him is undeterred. Especially catching the glimpse of their mess of an apartment inside. Its been months and they haven't even unpacked...
Randy is Oliver's boyfriend and local homeless man. Charlie warms up to him the fastest, relating to the nature of his situation. Though that certainly doesn't stop them from being an ass until then. He's incredibly accident prone, so spends a lot of time either at the hospital or in Oliver's apartment healing from injuries.
Eventually they all kinda end up as a pseudo-family, taking care of each other and looking out for one another. Oliver helps both Randy and Charlie find odd jobs around the town to get cash, and in return Charlie helps Oliver on his tinkering projects that he has going on.
And finally, for the last thing for pre-working at Freddy's, you have how they got the job. Well, before that they tried to get a college degree but... it didn't work out. Between barely being able to afford going atop barely passing grades (They never had an official schooling after all), they dropped out after two years. After that, they started to look for a more steady job, finding a poster advertising an open position at the local Freddy's. They know the rumors, they know what happened to John, but they also feel draw to Freddy's. To an extent, it's all they've ever know. So they go to apply, and get the job. As a janitor, nothing crazy.
That wraps up the pre-working timeline! If you have any questions please please PLEASE either comment, reblog, or send an ask with the question!! There's a ton I skimmed over for the sake of this not being novel length and its still pretty novel length haha.
Anyways buh-by! (Also massive shoutout to Skip who helped me with so much of this, especially the inclusion of Oliver n Randy and John)

Moon boys and a Ghost reader
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
Warnings: Reader is a ghost so of course they're dead. I made it that they died via falling off a high place on accident.
Author’s Snip: This was kinda fun to think about
Notes: I just ran wild with this. Also this id more so of a platonic relationship than anything
I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! And don’t be afraid to request.
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
Getting a ghost companion is the last thing the boys expected to have
They freaked the fuck out when you first met because they thought someone broke in and you showed up out of nowhere
You used to be a former Moon Knight but died while still on the job. It's a long story, you and Khonshu did something dumb that pissed the other gods off and they took your abilities for a bit as punishment and a slap on the wrist. But you were too used to your powers and ended up dying while doing a mission
They felt bad and so they kind of just had you continue on as a ghost that just follows around the future Moon Knights to come or at least be able to cross over
Is it a bit shammy, yeah, but you weren't complaining
Steven Grant
Steven asks the most questions about how the whole ghost thing works and what that's like
That's actually how they found out that you can show up in mirrors too, but of course it's YOU and not one of them
It's a bit surprising though, they're so used to it just being them so when one of them sees you they get spooked a little
"Have you always been here and just watched us?" "Yeah. I didn't really want to intervene with what was happening with you guys. I thought having an actual ghost around would mess up what Marc set up. Also he's got issues so I didn't want him thinking that he was actually crazy."
He dances around the "How'd you die?" question but you were in good spirits about it. You said "I completely ate it from eight stories up. I thought I could make the jump."
He's also how the boys know how your levels of appearance works, from moving shit, to mirrors, and actually being seen and heard
Marc Spector
He sort of sees you as an unofficial member of their little group even if you're just a ghost that's sort of stuck following them around
You refer to him as being "double dead" and make to many spector jokes
You get a pass though... because he can't punch you in the throat since it just goes through
I kind of imagine it being like Sock and Jonathan from the short film Welcome to Hell, where you follow him around and sorta bug him
At least you don't back seat everything and tell him what he should be doing... even though he does that with Steven a lot
Jake Lockley
Jake admires your fly on the wall abilities since he tends to do that too
You guys get along pretty well when he's out
He actually will take your advice since "They've been a Moon Knight before and they've at least seen some others before us so they know what not to do."
I actually don't really know what he'd think of a ghost companion other than thinking it's neat

Hello, I saw your post saying we could share our dw ocs. Now... Im no artist, all I got really is a description of him. I haven't used him in anything yet. But I love him and wanted to ramble him to someone new. Sorry for the wall of text ^^;
So Sam(ra. His name is samra but he prefers Sam.)
He is based off those old fashion Hollywood cameras, with the film reels and tripod like legs. He is a ringleader circus themed gameshow host (lore wise, he is basically Vee before she was created). Would've been "recycled" for materials or something if he didn't run into, then befriend Vee. One thing lead to another and he just became a stage hand type toon who'll help get good angles for camera shots and act as a side-character in a select few episodes or movies.
He also ends up being unofficially Vees' "big brother" partly due to the two being the most tech based toons (both due to how they are effected if splashed with water and their shared love of gameshows.) Relationship wise he gets along best with… roughly every canon character. Only really dis-trusting Dandy (during the… ingame period of twisteds and all that. Liking to mess with Shrimpo and Glisten. He kinda tries to act as a big brother to every toon he runs into. Teasing, hyping up. Consoling. Even just listening when they need a ear to vent into or a shoulder to cry on. Best friends with Finn, sharing his love of puns. With Sprout, Like Vee; he would also call him berry-boy. But if he gets called outdated-tech like in the interaction with Vee. He just gets all silent and sad. Beyond that the two get along well enough. He takes Shelly by surprise sometimes by actively noticing her (in that, I mean he actively looks around to see if she is with someone or is by herself). Asking her how her day is going, if she wants to talk about something. Hunting her down to give a random dino plushie he found in the lost n found. This… all sorta stems from how he knows what it feels like to be ignored. As that is why he was being replaced by Vee. The audience just… started to ignore his onsite show and didn't buy a lot of the merch based on him.
He wears a ringleader jacket, and a top-hat over his frontmost film reel. Has one single eye. No visible mouth (feeds on batteries for energy). size-wise, he is the tallest toon - when comparing to the cannon toons. No real clue what their canon sizes are but someone made a list and the tallest in that list was Teagan, Goob, and Roger at 2 feet 8 inches He stands to just about 5 feet without extending his legs. And 7 if he extends his legs completely. (the extended legs aren’t gameplay related, just partly how he gets good top down angles. He is a camera after all) His back film reel acts sorta like his brain, take it off him and he just... he can function, he is just slow and not very... reactive or perceptive. His voice is through a old-speaker, sight traces of static lace his words at times. His arms and legs are extendable, sorta like Goob but not nearly as long. Just three feet of extra reach. - He doesn't walk, per say. He has wheels for feet and rolls around. Gameplay wise, he has zero stars in movement speed and stamina (will explain below). Two in extraction speed. Two in skill checks. And three in stealth. (extraction speed and skill check is due to him having difficulty getting low enough to use the valve on the machines.) He counts as a main. Though his twisted is a rare. Since he counts as a main he also has the two heart limit other mains have. His Passive ability is "On a roll" Sprinting is disabled, instead he has momentum. Where the longer he keeps moving, the faster he gets. Starting at one star speed and reaching five stars in 20 seconds of nonstop moving. Turning becomes a little difficult at high speed. (Think ice levels in some games.) speed-based trinkets do boost his speed/momentum.
His Active ability is "Big brother"
He extends his arms out and grabs a targeted twisted within range (if it isn't a main) and throws it after two seconds, stunning it for 5 seconds and sending it 16 studs/feet away from him in the direction he is facing.
Twisted-wise, He has two twisted-forms. Wiped out and "not" wiped out. Only one of the two can appear on a floor.
He is missing his hat, has slash marks along his back through his jacket. And a gaping hole near his neck that leaks ichor. His right arm is stuck extended with hardened ichor in the joints and the hand is replaced by a blob of hardened ichor, turning it into a bludgeoning club type thing.
His single eye camera emits a solid red spotlight, lighting up most of his sightline. In his pre-wipe out state he is a lot like T.Glisten. However he doesn’t require someone to be near him. He is just on a timer until he snaps. During that timer, he actively stuns twisteds by giving them a smack with his club-arm. prioritizing chasing twisteds over wandering twisteds. Ignores docile twisteds like RnD, rodger, Connie, and glisten (before he snaps)
He still has his momentum type movement so he'll slowly build up speed, but struggles with stopping or turning. When the timer is zero and he snaps, he lets out a warning static-filled cry (voice box is messed up, he has no growls or a lot of voice lines, just static and single words that slip between the static. Like “contestants” “No” and names of toons who enter his sightlines. “Vee” “Shelly” etc. After he snaps, it is purely static. No voice lines or screams or snarls. Just static.) As a twisted (post snapped), his ability is to stick onto a target. Stealth stats don't determine targets for him, first toon to enter his sights is hard focused until it stays out of sight long enough.
His wiped out state is already snapped, but he can’t move from where he crashed, his legs are broken and his arm with a actual hand is not attached to his shoulder anymore. In this state he only serves as an alarm. Making a lot of noise to draw other twisteds over if someone enters his vision. In this state, he is treated like a airhorn, drastically lowering the effected toons’ stealth stat when he spots them.
Get too close, and he can hit you himself.
Trinket - Spare Film reel.
Stamina drain when sprinting is decreased by %25. Enabling longer moments to just book it either away from twisteds or towards a machine. Hope you enjoyed the OC rambling
Wow that's quite a read, I appreciate the long ramble I love when people put a lot of detail into their characters ^^
It's sweet how he acts like a brother figure to everyone, aw the kids don't love him enough that he's slowly getting forgotten <\3 Feel like as the show progresses kids would lean more into the new stuff. Shelly and Sam are both representing the past in a sense, but Shelly focuses a lot more on the pre-historic dinosaur stuff, Unfortunately I think kids like new tech more like Vee.
His mechanic is so interesting. gotta be constantly running to gain speed he'd make a good backup distractor as long as he doesn't stop, imagine accidentally stopping while being chased by a Twisted that'd be hell ESPECIALLY since you said there's no sprinting button.
Overall, nice OC! I can tell you put a LOT of thought into em and that's awesome to hear
#ask#dandys world oc#read this like twice cause I wanted to comment on some parts lol#Uh anyway I'd appreciate it tho if future asks could be a little shorter for the purpose of scrolling n stuff !#/nm just a heads up

Kinda wondering what being married to the Dragon King would be like. So Dragon King marriage hcs?
You guy's wedding was probably the biggest and most grandiose party/celebration under the seas, if not in the whole realm.
Dragon just wants everyone to know how important you are to him. He likes to show off, so what did you expect?
However, he will (although kinda reluctantly) tone it down if you ask him to.
After you're married, he would start to call you "My Queen"/"My King"/gender neutral version of it a lot more often than he did before the wedding.
All the subjects, the whole kingdom, love you. With you their ruler is a lot more kind and patient. You certainly rub off on him.
Just for the sake of interesting headcannons, we'll assume you are able to also breathe and live on land. You don't need to stay hydrated all the time like Dragon does, so often he will send you along with Benbo and Babbo (and/or maybe some guards just in case) to do certain things, which require doing them on land. He will also give you the droplets, so you could consult him if you needed to.
You both have many duties. You, as an official spouse of the king, have much more responsibilities than before you guys married. Certainly not as much as Dragon King, but still. So often if you aren't able to see each other some days, you both will send notes and letters to one another. Just to let each other know you are thinking about the other person.
You try not to use your title as Dragon King's Spouse to your advantage too much or use to gloat. But sometimes you either forget yourself or it is needed to emphasize your status. You are a royal now after all and you won't be disrespected.
You and Dragon try to do your morning routine together each day.
Dragon often tries to plan something new and exciting for both of you, so your relationship won't get too... I don't know how to put it, boring?
On anniversaries, Dragon cancels everything and spends the whole day with you, showering you with presents and affection.
You're kinda his unofficial royal advisor (although Benbo and Babbo like to think they are the advisors).
Surprisingly, you are pretty respected by the Jade Emperor and other celestial deities or Immortals. Most of them don't really like or respect Dragon, but when they heard he was married now, well, that caught their attention. They were all quite judgy at first, but overtime you've proven yourself to be kind and actually competent (which, in their opinion is the opposite of Dragon).
To be honest, I don't think your relationship would be much different after the wedding than before you were married. It's just that you guys made it official, and now you actually have responsibilities, unfortunately.
This is all I got, sorry. My hyperfixation on Dragon King died recently and I can't think of as many headcannons for him as I used to. Also, this wasn't proofread, so sorry about any mistakes.

can you please introduce that smug red motherfucker
Gladly. Get ready for an Info Dump
So the general info is hes an oc I made in like 2015 2009-2010 and he's just been in the background up until I revised him like a year or two ago for a story between my best friend and I. His name is Bing bc it was supposed to match the names of Ding/Zing but I kinda model him off Bing Crosby anyway so I'm not changing it. His theme is meant to revolve all around the atomic era/nuclear science - so his sigil is reminiscent of a mushroom cloud, I've drawn him with sunflowers (sunflowers can absorb radioactive material like cesium from dirt) but anyway onto the actual story Basically he's an active scoundrel during Las Vegas's heydays during the atomic era (i.e when they were detonating nuclear bombs for testing and people were watching them from afar like fireworks.) so around 1940-1950 he's an adult. Bing is very much like a used car salesman - he'll go to any length to convince someone to buy something they don't need and is usually successful at doing it. So he made stupid amounts of money selling people radiation cures like iodine pills (which were really just sugar pills) and things like that. He had a 'wife' (in quotes because they were unable to get married due to segregation laws, they still got unofficially 'married' anyway and had a kid.) Long story short he gets involved with the mafia, he flies too close to the sun with his ego and gets in trouble with them, and ends up getting sacked because of it. His wife ends up going into squalor because she didn't have any legal right to his property and he was the (major) breadwinner so as a result within his family there's a sort of disdain because he kinda flung them all into poverty bc he wasn't thinking about the consequences of his actions. He becomes a god via reasons I have yet to address. He says he's the god of war but really he's just conniving and his powers relate to convincing people. The ongoing story now is his granddaughter somehow finds a way to summon him/cross paths with him and they're both unaware they're related. It takes a while for it to hit him that she's his granddaughter and after that point its basically him learning what happened to his family after he died and humbles him (a little, he's still a dick all things considered)
