This man would go crazy "What the H#LL do you think you're doing?" if you ever pulled away when he tried to kiss you, you wouldn't hear the end of it for at least a week even when he does forgive you before then he'll make little comments about it (cause we all know he holds grudges)

he'll proceed to go on a rant about how 'this is the dumbest s##t you've ever done' no matter your excuse whether it's valid or not you definitely won't be getting any affection for a good 30 minutes at the least. when he does decide to forgive you though (after a million begs and pleases) he'll pull away when you try to give him an apology kiss and as you sit there with an offended face, he'll just smirk and say: "yeah how's it feel dumb#ss?" you can't help but hate him and love him at the same time. oh and no doubt about it you'll get the most passionate rough kisses from him the entire week.

He would be shocked at first but then it would slowly morph into sadness and as you quickly try to explain why you didn't give him a kiss, he'd already be ignoring you (not on purpose) and thinking in his head what on earth he did wrong and how he could make it up to you. the poor guy just wants you to be happy :(

after the incident (and you saying a million times how it was because you got distracted and that you weren't mad at him) he'd spend a good two weeks giving you random presents to make it up to you even though he didn't do anything wrong "baby? I got your favorite snacks while I was out" "hey baby-shark! I bought you a plushie!" this man will always try to make you happy whether he did something wrong or not and you better give him lots of kisses for his sake and your's.

Denki Kaminari

I think he'd gladly do skincare stuff with you if you were into that sorta thing, but he would also forget that stuff couldn't get into his mouth so when he tried to kiss your cheek when you had a face mask on and you pulled away from him.. he just rolled himself into a little ball on the floor and cried his eyes out. he would do an ugly cry too red eyes, snot and all.

you would immediately be surprised by this and ask him what's wrong and when he was able to finally speak, he'd look up at you and in the most dramatic voice say: "you don't love me anymore!" and thats how you would end up cuddling with him on the couch and stroking his hair and giving him little kisses while you both watched his favorite show (probably something having to do with cars) as a way to make up for not letting him kiss you. this how it ended every time he didn't get his way though so you were used to it and you didn't mind it

I need to rant a bit about scanline filters.

The one big riddle I still need to solve in this whole designing my own console thing is how I'm outputting the graphics, and as you might imagine, as I try to research this, I mostly keep running across forum posts and such from people trying to recreate the experience of playing their favorite old console games (or new games going for that sorta vibe) including the distinct differences between modern monitors and the CRTs they had back in the day. And a big part of that involves stumbling onto so damn many "scanline filters" that drive me up the wall.

If you zoom way the hell in on the above image, it is, to be fair, attempting to simulate a particular thing, but what it's simulating is not scan lines, and if the goal here is to look like a CRT, then essentially outlining every pixel with a black border, which is what this at least appears to be doing at a distance, is WILDLY wrong. If anything, color should be bleeding all over and filling any darker spaces.

I'd like to actually get into scan lines before getting into the other stuff that's wrong with this, but let me just hit you with another terrible example of what people call a "scanline filter" first just so we're on the same page.

For real here, what the hell are we even doing? The functional definition of what a "scanline filter" is seems to just be interlacing. That is to say, making every other row of pixels black. Now, this is at least a little bit tied to "retro graphics." I recall playing Day of the Tentacle back when it was new, and AT THE TIME, as the game itself had a maximum resolution of 320x200, and would be displayed on a monitor that even on the cheap end would be outputting at at least two or three times that, the graphics settings had an "interlaced mode" which rather than just displaying each pixel of the game's art as a 2x2 or 3x3 or 4x4 or whatever block of actual-monitor display pixels, it would only draw half of those, leaving alternating black lines that absolutely made it look like you were watching the whole game through some sort of mesh screen left half the visual information to your imagination, so you could just kinda pretend the resolution was higher and fill in the gaps between lines of pixels with your imagination.

But again, THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SCANLINES!

When you have a CRT, rather than having a big array of liquid crystal squares or heated plasma blocks or LEDs or whatever other weird thing people are using now that just have a direct current run through to turn them on and off, you have this absolutely bonkers mad science to-this-day-I-can't-believe-someone-even-thought-to-do-this-let-alone-it-being-plan-A gun just straight up firing out electrons in an accelerated stream that is aiming around at practically unfathomable speeds shooting at dots of phosphor painted onto a sheet causing them to glow with an intensity proportionate to how many electrons they're getting hit with. We don't have a separate gun for each dot, just the one hitting each in turn (well, 3 really, we have separate guns for the red green and blue dots). And specifically, because I suppose the alternative would be to encode the signal for every other line backwards to keep shooting on the return trip or something, what they would do is sweep (or if you prefer scan) across from left to right, light up one row of dots, swing back and drop down slightly, sweep across the next line, and so on, then on finishing the final line swing back up to the top left corner to start sweeping across energizing all the phosphor dots at the right intensity for the next frame of video. Or really if you want to get technical I believe they'd hit more like: every odd line on the first pass, reset, hit every even line, reset, new frame, repeat. I guess reading about that is where people get this interlacing idea from maybe?

Anyway, if you wanted to simulate this on a modern display, you'd just need to draw a new frame for every scan line in real time (ideally more since it's not like the line appears all at once, we're really hitting one dot at a time and going down the line). We literally can't do that though. We're probably simming a standard definition TV right? Well the standard differs depending where you are in the world, but the big two are the NTSC standard, which draws one frame composed of 480 lines 60 times a second, and the PAL standard of 576 lines 50 times a second. That's easy math to do. We just need a refresh rate of... 28,800 FPS. Or ideally more, because again, you'd want to draw each line over multiple frames... and that's just for a standard TV. If we're simming a monitor, there were CRTs out there that I THINK still managed 60 FPS while spitting out 1600 or so lines on each frame.

Unless I'm severely mistaken, modern display technology just straight up cannot get anywhere near that. It's rare to find a display that can go any higher than 60 and again, we're drawing a whole screen in that time so the lines aren't relevant there. I'm not even sure if the materials currently glowing/controlling how much light gets out can, on their own, flip on and off as a phosphor dot being pelted with electrons, but I DO know we're still setting pixel brightness one at a time, a line at a time, so what would there really even be to sim there? Hell, famously, filming CRTs never works right because most cameras' shutter speed won't catch things right, and if you use a super high speed camera you actually CAN see the scan lines being rendered one by one but you're catching so little light you're kind of only seeing the one line, as in this video here:

Now, displays back in the day, and also displays, you know, now, break out the red/green/blue components and just cram something close enough together to blend together and give you some single color with a ton of potential range. It's an illusion technically, much like the whole screen being lit at once and not just the last thing to get an update or getting hit with electrons. So let's get back to those black pixels in these filters and what they're actually trying to simulate and how dumb all that is. Have a couple more visual aids plucked from the above video.

Now you might be looking at this first image here and thinking "aha! Look! There totally are solid black lines between the pixels!" but that first one is the modern high res display. The second image is the one from a CRT. You will notice there is an offset, such that even with crazy high zoom there is no horizontal line you can draw through here that's ever going to be all black (unless that part of the screen is showing something black). Furthermore, again, it's important to keep in mind that while in that first image, every subpixel you're looking at is, in fact, glowing steadily over a period of time, at any given instant, only ONE of these little phosphor strips (of each color) is actually getting shot with electrons and doing its full-bright glow. When a given dot on the screen is active it is WAY brighter than what the camera here can detect and if you're really looking at one, your eyes are taking so long to process that you don't even notice that literally only the 3 are active at a time. Even this camera here is catching a bunch of fading afterimages. Point is, in real life, this display isn't anywhere near this dark.

So OK, let's say you're doing your CRT filter effect, which again, you should NOT be calling a "scanline filter" by all means make use of the higher resolution you have to work with and have like 5 redscale pixels, 5 black pixels, 5 greenscale pixels, 5 black, 3 bluescale, 5 black, then shift alternate columns down by 3, BUT if you're gonna do that, remember to have the brightness cranked way up on those bright ones, and also bring up the corresponding color values of the surrounding few pixels to properly portray that intense emissive glow. i.e. the "black pixels" between red and blue aren't really black they're some shade of purple or magenta or whatever, and hell ideally the color bleed shout cover at least one neighboring "pure color" column. Because nothing on a CRT has ever looked like you're looking at it through a screen door like all these filters floating around.

Oh and side not to everything, that offset hex grid-y shadowmask arrangement was I think the most popular for color CRT TVs but different people roll in different ways. Pretty sure this was more common for PCs with higher available resolutions, for instance:

For real though, you could light a whole room pretty well just having a TV on back when everyone had CRTs. I do not understand why all these filters make everything so much darker.

Also speaking of darkness, I'm sitting in it because I am completely bottomed out on money and I'm penny pinching every way I can so... patreon, maybe?

This one i posted a storyboard for actually its An Aliens I Love You by Utsu-P.

I gave young Rin a sakura motif with her dress because of miku and rin meeting under a sakura tree, teen miku has a pink ribbion and hairclip to continue this. both rins bow and mikus outfit get darker outfits overtime to sybolize the song getting darker. I also gave adult rin the future rin hair. Miku's "alien" form is more or less how its described in the song tho i was lazy and didn't draw the 4 arms in the refs.

also Lily is Rins mom in this yup there she is indeed.

Headcanon/design rant below, some spoilers about Rain World For Watcher I picked darker colors because I imagine she wants to blend in as much as possible, did add a bit of gold in, though. I like to think she's very knowledgeable of the world she lives in and knows some secrets about void fluid and the ancients and stuff, though she's not as powerful as Saint. She can widen her pupils and make them glow bright enough to blind her enemies (this might change after her DLC is out.) For Monk I picked more earthy and forest colors, kinda a calm vibe, I guess? I also imagine he's normally seen as scaredy because he's a semi-pacifist, but he's actually pretty brave. Survivor I just messed around with colors and saw what worked. :) In between working on this I learned color theory real quick, but I colored Hunter before then. I picked her colors off of NSH's, and darker colors for sorta blending in (although she's often noticed anyway). I picked the cloak design to cover any rot.

RANTETHING TIME, WORMS (pt.1 PTP)

I said I was gonna rant on some random interests of mine soooo- first rant, yippee! I was wanting to do a rant today anyways [even though I slept "today" away], and thought well I did some doodles of random characters, maybe that'll help, and Popee happened to catch my eye. Funny psychotic rabbit man that isn't luring kids into the back room 🤭 I kinda just binged a couple random episodes of that since I started getting tired of Salad Fingers and having to hear him moaning over a texture every ten seconds Apologizing ahead of time, this is way too long of a rant 🤦‍♂️ Watching some of PTP, I'm just chilling, watching Kedamono get traumatized for the millionth time and Popee being a spawn of satan, and then the worst thing on the planet decides to fill my screen- FUCKING PAPI. NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE WHO LIKES THE SILLY MAN, DON'T GET ME WRONG, I FUCKIN LOVE HIS DESIGN AND A COUPLE SCENES OF HIM, HE'S GREAT FOR THE SERIES, BUT THERES A PROBLEM. I noticed in some scenes he has some... gross tendencies, to say the least, and other times he kinda just sucks. Like how fuckin old is Popee?? He's definitely not an adult, or at least he doesn't act like it, I'm assuming he's fuckin 17 maybe a bit older- who in the actual fuck is gonna step up to their teenage, almost adult son, with a goddamn bottle??? LIKE- STOP. PLEASE. I BEG OF YOU. POPEE IS NOT OK WITH IT, EVERYONE CAN SEE EVEN KEDAMONO IS BOTHERED BY IT, I ALREADY KNOW AT LEAST SOME OF YOU AS VEIWERS WERE BOTHERED BY IT. I mean sure the argument for him is just he wanted to help- but Papi, that is NOT the proper help needed here, and I feel like nobody should have to actually point that out, he's an adult and should know that. And then another thing that kinda freaks me out is the reoccurring theme of vore? Yeah pretty sure rule34 artists had a lotta fun with this episode 😭 And what's worse is that his ass is unbearable in other episodes as well, not as freaky as this shit maybe, but still overall not making a good image for him. Poison happens to be one of my favorite episodes, just another episode where Popee gets sick of Kedamono basically existing. I'M ACTUALLY ON POPEE'S SIDE HERE, I WOULD ACTUALLY PREFER PUTTING A GUN TO MY HEAD THAN LET THIS MAN HELP. Really don't like how the scene goes, and when shit hits the fan you just- kill your kid?! EXCUSE ME??? Of course, as I said, there's other shit that just- doesn't sit right with me, now no its not exactly the immense perv levels of these two right here, but its more over the fact that Papi is supposed to be a father. From the very first episode we see the man, he comes in while Popee and Kedamono are practicing a trick, and his immediate reaction isn't some super flashy self introduction, or yknow- a fucking "Hello, son, I'm back from my several years of searching for the milk". It's to one-up his son? Assuming, being trying to understand any actual story out of this show is as difficult as understanding the FNaF lore, Popee is only even apart of this circus, or training to be apart of the circus, probably because of his father.. so Papi's intro is kind of a dick move. But then again, it could just be something that's going over my head entirely, since he proceeds to mentor them [and get a chainsaw to the head in the process]. I wanna believe that, or yknow find some sorta less asshole-y explanation, but then you kinda notice the difference from before he arrived, and after. When it was just Popee and Kedamono, Kedamono was impressed and supportive, and whether he wanted to or not, he'd end up practicing some sorta trick, or just sticking around to witness Popee practicing. After Papi arrived, and there was another member to the little group, I realized that everything Popee did was- disapproved by Papi, if I'm wording that correctly. A couple times here and there was some applauding, but other then that Papi kinda just seemed overall disappointed. No, I didn't rewatch the entire series again, but from what I can remember its usually disappointment, showing favoritism to Kedamono, or just constantly doing whatever his son is doing but better. I don't think I'd want this man as a mentor ngl. I mean if your son kills you and digs a grave with no hesitation, and is barely even upset at your death at all, pretty sure that means something is wrong with the relationship.😕 And besides the points where he's shown to "care", he is also pretty neglectful. The episode Ghost is one example, where they practice a magic trick on Popee, I genuinely love this little bit at the start because it seems like they actually have a decent relationship with each other-

but then everything just goes downhill immediately, and that's because Kedamono is a royal fuck up and kills Popee. That's when my point comes in. Look at Kedamono. AND THEN LOOK AT PAPI.

BROTHA WHERES YOUR SADNESS- YOUR CONCERN- YOUR SON JUST DIED, KEDA IS FREAKING OUT.. AND YOU'RE JUST DIGGING A GRAVE LIKE ITS AN AVERAGE EVERYDAY OCCURANCE. THE ONLY TIME YOU ACTUALLY START GIVING A SHIT IS WHEN YOU'RE GOING TO SAVE KEDAMONO- AND AS FAR AS I KNOW, YOU BARELY EVEN KNOW THE WOLF. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Another great example is in the episode Medicine, where Popee is sick with what one can only explain as this shows version of Covid-19. Papi and Kedamono are trying to help him by mixing some random ass concoctions that I'm gonna assume is a mix of medicine and soup, and overall none of them had worked. By the time they found something that didn't taste like straight death, they get distracted by that and decide "lets go off and enjoy ourselves", MEANWHILE POPEE LOOKS LIKE HE'S FUCKING BEGGING FOR HELP. I GET IT, POPEE ISN'T EXACTLY SOME SWEET ANGEL, QUITE THE OPPOSITE ACTUALLY BUT NOW YOU'RE STOOPING AS LOW AS HE DOES. An episode that really stands out is Loneliness, where Papi and Kedamono leave while Popee is asleep, and they stay gone for a few days. Popee is the definition of an asshole, duh, we all know he terrorizes everyone around him for a living. But according to the episode, they had to have been gone for maybe two or three days. Popee slept the entire day away, and thats the day they left, I'm gonna assume he spent that night/the next day trying to figure out where everyone went, and then went insane the day after. He'll kill Papi and Keda, no hesitation, but obviously he cares about them still, after all that's his father and his best friend. I assumed the pantomime episode plays a little into this, being Popee creates what looks like a hallucination of himself to cope with what he assumes to be abandonment, and its a hallucination everyone else can sense/see as well. (and take note of this, it appears that the easiest[?] way for somebody to duplicate themselves in a mental hallucination way is when they cry, so obviously Popee freaked out when he came to the explanation of abandonment so I'm assuming absent father = pretty fucked up mindset). Papi and Kedamono come back, they get rid of the duplicate by having Papi make a duplicate of himself, and Popee freaks the fuck out about it. Kedamono offers a solution- talk to him, try and calm him down, being a decent person to Popee. Papi literally refuses to even acknowledge the idea, or his son, and tries literally any other solution that doesn't involve talking to his child. I'm sorry... your child is having a mental breakdown. And you refuse to look at him. As I said, there are a lot of things that make Papi a great character, but he could be so much better if he was just a decent father. When I first watched the show, I genuinely thought Popee was just the most heartless prick known to man but like.. CMON, LOOK AT THIS SHIT, POPEE IS SO FUCKED IN THE HEAD BECAUSE OF HIS PIECE OF SHIT DAD. I'VE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE TALK ABOUT HOW THEY BELIEVE HE WAS JUST GONE FOR MOST OF POPEE'S LIFE AND I CAN SEE THAT, AND THEN WHEN HE DOES COME INTO THE PICTURE, HE JUST RUINS EVERYTHING. THE SECOND IMAGE HERE FROM MEDICINE, WHEN POPEE IS BEGGING FOR HELP, HE'S REACHING FOR HELP RIGHT??? AND WHO DOES HE REACH FOR??? NOT PAPI, NOT HIS OWN FATHER, HE REACHES FOR HIS BEST FRIEND, KEDA.

THE DUPLICATES HAVE A BETTER FATHER-SON RELATIONSHIP. HELL, WITH POPEE AND KEDAMONO, THEY'VE KILLED EACH OTHER, POPEE TERRORIZES HIM FOR FUN EVEN, AND EVEN THEY HAVE A BETTER RELATIONSHIP. WHEN THE WHOLE CIRCUS JUST VANISHED WHILE KEDAMONO WAS FREAKING OUT, POPEE STAYED... I DON'T SEE PAPI DOING THAT FOR POPEE.

THE SHOWS ENDING WAS GREAT, YEAH... BUT I WISH IT WAS POPEE AND KEDAMONO BEING STARS OF THE CIRCUS ON STAGE, AND PAPI OUT OF THE FUCKIN PICTURE.

I redrew something from 2022 :3! Yippie, now you guys get to see the old one and the new one next to each other heck yeah.

I’m gonna rant like absolutely bonkers length about Simon’s Quest and the endings and story under a cut for anyone interested:

The original version (the last image) had this like long rant about how I see the endings of the game, but it wasn’t as comprehensive cause I was still kinda new to things and well instagram character limit lol.

The endings of the game are a really really cool topic to me because of how ominous and vague they all are. They’re all left pretty open! But I’ve always gotten some sinking dread even when getting the fastest “red sky” ending. The game really sets up the ending with a lot of empty areas and suspense beforehand, especially with the still present but now more pressing clock still ticking ya know, and the final battle is kinda just there, but it ends off all this tense build up with

A eulogy. One definitely written for Simon too. In every ending.

The first ending (grey sky) is really vague, just a general statement that “Simon you will always be remembered for your bravery and courage” and that “Peace and serenity have been restored to Transylvania and the people are free of Dracula’s curse”. Which is really odd for what would be assumed to be a “bad ending”. This generally sounds like a pretty good outcome and it’s primarily the same in the Japanese version just slightly worded differently. Heck, it’s not even stated in the text outright if he died. But the visuals, oh man. Dreary greyscale and Simon doesn’t even appear on screen in front of Dracula’s grave. Did Dracula even get reburried? It’s some really bleak imagery compared to the otherwise pretty unsuspecting text.

And second ending (blue sky) is very interesting. Simon appears on screen with some nice bright generally cheery colors, but the text deliberately mentions his death in both versions. The English version however says something the Japanese version doesn’t: it says the curse wasn’t broken. The original text says “until a young man to fight against evils like him comes again to this world, Transylvanians will keep praying forever.” Which I guess you could assume means that something went wrong and the curse still exists, but it could also be taken as a general “there’s no cool badass vampire hunter guy to kill any other general threats, so we hope another one comes along”. So, again, it’s so extremely vague.

So far the first and the second don’t really have all that much different as far as implications go: Simon beat Dracula but he died.

So what about the third ending (red sky)? Would it shock you if I said there’s not much difference from the text of the first ending? It’s essentially just another eulogy text with nice things to say about him. It says “Simmon Belmont put an eternal period to the legend of Dracula” (yes the Japanese version says Simmon lol it happens), which is something we know isn’t true because well more games got made later. Also because Dracula’s hand pops out of the ground afterwards! Which is hard to say the meaning of, is it just a teaser like “to be continued” or is it actually meaning that Dracula wasn’t put down properly and will be back really soon? Because that still is in line with things since yeah Drac did kinda sorta come back early in Harmony of Dissonance. Anyway— But it’s just another way of saying “he killed Dracula” and probably “he ended the curse”. The last section is just “his blood and sweat have penetrated into the ground of Transylvania and will bring us full-blown flowers with happiness in next spring”. Which is, again, just a really pretty, poetic way of saying “we’re never gonna forget this guy”. And again, this ending never outright says if he lives or dies!

Which is so!!!!! Weird!!!!!!!!!!! Why have multiple endings in a game if they’re all so vague that they’re almost completely interchangeable and can all be argued to be the ending of the game? You could genuinely make an argument for each of the endings being the canon ending and it would affect essentially nothing. They’re so vague to the point that a lot of people assume that they were mixed up at some point in development, which I find unlikely coming from the dev team of the guy said to want his games to be a cinematic experience. But it’s so strange! Why!?!?!

But I think that this vagueness and sense of idk how to put it— um ya know when something builds something up to get you all excited and convinced it’ll go one way and then it pulls the rug out from under you? Like when it’s set up to where it feels like the protagonist is finally going to get something and then it just doesn’t happen completely unceremoniously? Like a hope crushing twist?

Idk what I mean is, to me, it feels completely intentional. It feels to me like the game is just ramping up the tension and the suspense and the dread just to cut it off with vague, bittersweet endings that just seem to imply sad things and don’t sit right. It’s like as if the game wants you to get the first ending, see that it’s really gloomy, try to figure out the game more and get the second ending, see that that one outright says he’s dead, then try to get something better only to run into another awkward seemingly negative ending and a realization that you can’t do anything about it.

And I was thinking about this again a bit ago and realized that it really fits with the rest of Simon’s story. Simon kinda has this general “hero goes to save the day” plot in the first one with some slight mention of Christopher before him and the fact that this is a clan and a repeating 100 year Dracula cycle right? But things go wrong and he gets cursed and presumably either struggles to figure out what to do or just puts it off for like 6 ish years. Add the general vibes of “will I ever be as good as my ancestors?” and repeating themes of being alone and then compare that with Dracula’s Curse that comes out not long later and this game is suddenly the most “power of friendship” “seeing the good in people” “together we can overcome this” kind of story in the whole series and it hit me: Simon feels like a subversion of the lone hero trope. Like this super uplifting, unlikely band of heroes story coming out right after the solitude if it were personified as a 1600s vampire hunter story feels so so so so important to me. And then The Adventure and Belmont’s Revenge come out and what are they about? Christopher goes into the castle alone and something goes wrong! And I’ve noticed how other Belmonts and protagonists in later games get companions or friends or helpers or somebody else, and oh boy does that make how alone Simon is that much more noticeable.

It just all comes together in a messed up way. I really feel like Simon dies in all of these endings. And I didn’t even get into weird symbolism discussion lol—

And maybe this is just me looking too hard into an old game from a modern used to stories in games being detailed perspective, but idk man, I love the Simon’s Quest because it never fails to baffle me. Honestly so much of Simon’s Quest genuinely haunts me (affectionate), like I’ll just be sitting around and think of another possible answer to something and it’ll end up just as vague and full of holes as any other speculation, it’s wild. This game will have you sitting around looking for answers only to consistently run into dead ends with sad or nonexistent implications. I hope any of this makes sense, this game drives me insane I love it debating replaying and overthinking it again hmmmmmmm—

Musical Musings - TTTE edition, Part 2

ALRIGHT!

My first musical analysis post has been getting a LOT of attention in the past few days or so. So first off, thank you for the love everyone, that was one of my favourite posts to make (besides the crackhead Gordon and Henry shitpost and my "Emily in the middle" rant). Second, since it appears that people like this sorta thing, I figured I'd share a couple more things that I've noticed, one of which I didn't put in the first post cause I figured people had already  noticed it so it didn't need to be said. But I think I'll put it in anyways, just because. So let's get into it!

In pt. 1, I talked about the fact that Henry's theme has an occurrence of "3," in that each of the 4 beats in a bar was a triplet, and how Henry is the number 3 engine. Well, I was listening to his theme again and found two more occurrences of "3" in the introductory bars of the theme. For reference, I am talking about this part:

 Each bar has the following rhythm:

Now, the first occurrence of 3 comes from the fact that the first 3 beats have the same rhythm, as shown in the above image. The second occurrence of 3 comes from the fact that the last beat of the bar is a triplet. 3 notes. Tack on the first occurrence of 3 from the first post, and you're 3 for 3 for NWR no. 3. HMMM........

2. Continuing with the subject of Henry's theme, this observation has probably already been made several times over, but I figured I'd put it in to continue the "Henry's theme" trend. If you take a listen to Henry's sad theme, you'll notice that its repeating motif is part of Henry's main theme in a different, minor, key with a different rhythm and at a slower tempo.

The numbers indicate the note's position within its scale. As you can see, both themes share the same note pattern. To get Henry's sad theme, you'd transpose the theme down a diminished 4th (i.e, move the notes down by this interval) to B major, and then adjust the D# and G# in the resulting melody to D natural and G natural to fit within the B minor scale so that it sounds sad. Nice job, Mike & Junior, very clever.

3. Donald and Douglas' CGI whistles are the notes of C and A respectively. These notes are related in a couple of ways. The first/lowest note on a standard 88-key piano is an A, and the last/highest note is a C. Given the twins' original BR numbers (57646 & 57647 respectively), it appears that Douglas is the younger of the two, so their whistle notes make sense in this context. Additionally, as mentioned in pt. 1, the keys of C major and A minor are related in that they share a key signature of no accidentals (ie, no sharps, flats, double sharps or double flats, yes those last two exist and they gave me hell as a kid). Thus, the whistle notes would make sense in this context.

You'll often see modulation from either C major to A minor or vice versa in classical music. Two contrasting, yet complimentary keys with their own characters and personalities which work well together. Just like Donald and Douglas.

4. I was rewatching some of the season 7 episodes which have Arthur in them. And I think I kinda forgot how fucking huge this guy is. I also noticed just how low his whistle is in comparison to the other tank engines, perhaps emphasizing his bigger size and his more serious attitude in comparison to them.

I've had a teensy tiny itty bitty (gigantic) crush on a tgirl for, like, months. at this point. But I'm arospec so I haven't thought much of it, like I'm still content being friends with her, BUT I've kinda sorta been flirting with her bc. like. what if there's a chance she does want to be my girlfriend?? You know??? Or like what if in the future we DID develop some kind of other relationship??? You know?? Also if I don't continuously tell her how pretty and lovely she is I'm going to explode. But anyway. So I've been flirting with her a bit and I send her cute little images with her favourite animal and stuff and in one of them I said 'ily' just like in passing. yk. And she said 'ily too' and so I was kinda like 'okay so she's not weirded out by that, great!' and that was a bit ago. So I've recently been sending more things with the extended 'I love you,' like the animal pictures and tumblr textposts and stuff, and I think I've said 'I love you' in a couple texts too. And she recently has kinda seemed a little not-exactly-friendly? Ish? Like I guess a little open to the whole me-kinda-sorta-flirting deal. And this recent thing I sent her also said 'I love you' and then she ACTUALLY ASKED ABOUT IT. Like. DAMN IT I THOUGHT I HAD MORE TIME. I'M NOT READY TO TELL YOU I DON'T LIKE YOU. Uhhh so she asked in what way I love her, and she said she's been confused; and I was an idiot and said that I love her in a friend way (technically true! I do love her in a friend way, it's just more nuanced than that and I also love her in a different sort of way too) so it's not a lie but at the same time. Like. Zenni wtf. And she admitted that she's oblivious to things like that and stuff. And then I asked if I should love her in a different way (putting it in her court. yk. like 'well do you like me??') and she said she wasn't sure but she's happy being friends for now (first of all: OMG "FOR NOW" THAT MEANS SHE MIGHT WANT TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP IN THE FUTURE! and second of all: wah.) so I'm. Like. Kinda freaking out bc this means she might like me!! But also I would feel awkward about flirting with her still. But I still want to flirt with her and I don't want to act awkward. Wanna start off with saying thing about I actually like about Nb!!! Love ruri tunes, love WW I absolutely adore seeing Levi desperately trying to chase down Mammon cuz he owes him money lol + fab snap is super silly

+!!! I am aware this may just be a me problem and because Nb did literally just release today and it’ll probably take some time to get used to seeing obey me look so different

Also the movements in WW is kinda weirdly realistic????? I like it yet with how the models look it’s kinda weird >.<

Is it just me or does the design layout in Nb seem very…poor(????)

Like I get the theme they were going for but it just looks. Bad.

Here are some images of the speech textbox side by side for reference!! Obey me! Swd?’s speech textbox thingy looks a lot nicer; the purple and green border thing pops out nicely and not too much, the bottom pink to purple to blue to green colour fade outline on the bottom of the speech box also pops out nicely without it being too much, and there’s just the Nb one.

One feature of the Swd speech box was that the name sticks out of the whole speech box as a smaller box and that looks nice!!! This is a me problem but for the Nb’s name box to be within the whole speech box makes it harder to read for some reason?? the Nb’s speech box is also bigger???? For some reason??? And it’s very weird to look at

It’s so rounded and while rounded speech boxes aren’t necessarily a bad thing I feel like there are ways it could’ve been design better

It just feels like the new theme for Nb is minimalistic and I really don’t like it :{ like ngl but if you remember seeing/ have ever seen it in the first place those “knock-off” obey me swd? Games that heavily reference the game in every way the design sorta looks like that

Ep 14 sorta review (copied on twt and i post this here since im shadowbanned on there 😢) pls excuse the grammar and the length i have too much thoughts

Ok i finally watched it with subs!! Now I understand things better.

First things first we have new reaction image

Roy's part is straightforward, im glad he's so supportive and helpful to wattrell, and eventually captured it. murdock giving him a pokeball to catch it is so sweet, he knew it was coming!! Also him and liko going shopping and having ice cream together is cute, and him thanking her for letting Dot make sandwich is heartwarming :'). But never thought his comment about wanting a certain spice will backfire...

In last ep i thought spinel was ready to act when he came out in disguise, but no he was still trying to gauge the rvt's strength. I wonder if he's trying to lull friede into a false sense of security since the signal problem has been addressed (speaking of friede, rant incoming)

Friede oh my gosh. after watching the ep i can't blame friede 100% since liko went to town on her own without company, but it's still irresponsible for friede to not tell his team what happened.

He knew something was wrong but he chose to ignore it in favour of focusing on takeoff. If he'd told the team about it they'd be on high alert and less likely to do things on their own. It reflects badly on friede's leadership (and cpt. Pikachu as well?). Him not telling liko he's hired by her mom was funny before but it's harmful now. And given how he just met liko's parents.. this stings more 😬

That said it's also a risky gamble for spinel to attack friede because what if friede is responsible and told his team to be on alert instead, did he know friede won't tell? 🤣 and Liko really need to be more careful, i think she's been under protection so much she got careless. If there's a silver lining i think this incident could be a learning opportunity for rvt, they've been getting Ws so much they got overconfident.

Onto Spinel, DID HE REALLY NEED TO ASK THIS?? THE AUDACITY?;"?#!'

He just love mocking people isn't he? Even in disguise his personality shows through 🤣😭 alternatively he could be making sure liko actually lost her memories, but knowing how smug he is it's hard not to read it that way.

He succeeded getting the pendant but it's clear he didn't care about liko, going as far as wiping her memories (he's being safe but it's overkill imo) and leaving her in levincia.

Did he not know the pendant won't activate without her?

He saw what happened back in arboliva forest since he's been spying on them, but it seems it didn't register to him (possible spinel L?). I think now is a good time to confirm if that testament is true.

Also reminder, it was amethio who made this observation and decided to get her along with the pendant, at the expense of his time and gibeon's patience (lol). He made this conclusion right as it happened. So both spi and ame have seen the pendant react to liko, but only ame made the connection (possible amethio W?). This also highlights amethio and spinel's difference, ame is more observant and will deviate from orders if he deems necessary, meanwhile spinel is more focused and follows orders as is. I love this tbh it makes them more interesting.

Liko's memories got wiped right after the ep where she reminisces and being thankful about her adventures and new friends feels kinda cruel lol, poor girl... Not only liko, sprigatito also lost its memories, but seeing the preview, they somehow stayed together until night and then they saw the moon together. This is a callback to the scene where she trained with sprigatito back in ep 1! I think this is an important milestone 🥹💖 i hope they remember.

Overall, it's insane how the story goes from high (roy helping wattrel and catching it) to low (likos pendant got stolen). We (or at least me) were on a rollercoaster of emotions the entire ep, it's amazing. Story-wise I love that this anime is constantly challenging the status quo by having the pendant actually got stolen and liko got attacked. It keeps me on the edge of my seat bc i don't know what to expect, because anything can happen!!

Ok i think I've finished talking abt ep 14 dang that was long🤣 That said, in next ep preview...

Is this spinel? Is spinel still there ?? I thought he leave already??? He's risking his position if he stayed there for long, what's stopping him from leaving already? He didn't need to worry about them finding liko anyway since she's not important to him, he already got the pendant so why is he preventing them from finding her? But maybe it's not spinel but someone else. Maybe even pokemon, we can never trust previews 100% lol.

The ep title doesn't really give a hint since apparently it focuses on Dot and quaxley? Iono will also appear, but I can't tell what's the correlation between the two, other than they're both influencers. They're definitely going to find liko, so maybe dot will ask for iono's help? Her gym test does revolve around looking for people after all. But 'someone getting in the way' makes me feel nervous.

okay sorry this is gonna be my AI art rant post. finally. i know that whenever it copies drawn art it's a lot easier to get angry at it, but i think we inherently forget that while photography is ''''easier'''' it's still. an artform. there are photographers either being paid to take pretty moody pictures like this, or just normal people who saw/made something moody and pretty and wanted to take a picture of it!!

and, while it's somewhat antithetical to the intro of this post, my main ache with this sorta ai art is that one of my favorite aspects of going through 'aesthetic' imagery is trying to sorta. daydream about what journey the picture took, if that makes sense. some sleepy teenager on a cloudy afternoon took a picture of the sky and 5 years later it's still on pinterest and echoing through the internet with a funny filter because another teenager wanted to add themselves to it. and it was pretty. so it stayed. you know?

i hate pinterest and it's inability to give sources don't get me wrong. but idk. it sometimes feels communal like that. seeing the same aesthetic pic a few times in the scroll edited in different ways, checking and seeing that they're posts from different sites/people/corners of the internet entirely.

having this kinda stuff made by ai doesn't enrage me as much as it just. kinda makes me sad. i look and consider and wonder- before catching the nonsensical railing by the wall and realizing it's ai. and you could argue that the prompter producing this went through the same process of 'it was pretty, so it stayed' that happens naturally online- but it doesn't feel the same.

i mean, fuck, i literally wouldn't have this same issue whatsoever if the prompter had just. painted over this image, used it as a reference for something pretty with a drawing tablet and photoshop or paint tool sai. or maybe used it as reference to make a 3d model of the couch, clean up the bits that don't make any sense. create something out of it. but it's . not. nobody cared to take this photo, to genuinely create this image, so is it any wonder i'm disappointed when i realize as much?

Just feeling hopeless these days. I've been getting back into painting, which has been nice, but also frustrating. I'm studying illustrations to mimic how they paint, but I've only ever been self taught--I did take a drawing class in college, but it was absolutely not helpful, but rather felt like just an opportunity for the professor to sorta go on rants and stuff--I didn't learn or grow in any particular way, I assess. I guess it was nice having drawings count towards school credit, but again, that's just me teaching myself, as I would and do draw anyway. But back to the painting, I've been testing out these brushes and they've been going pretty well as I kinda learn how to use them--there was no guide with them, just one final image to study, so I'm kinda bouncing between that and my actual reference images, and sorta getting a feel for these brushes and painting as we chug along. The full set has just under seven brushes, but I've just stuck to the first two for this. Painting is slow going as always, but it's looking pretty okay. I want to add to my portfolio, as I want to get more serious about art again, but I just don't know what I'm supposed to draw that is in any way meaningful or resonant or effective on people. That's the most frustrating part, not knowing what to do. If someone could just say paint this, this, and this, and then you'll get hired, I would eagerly do that. But it's all a grand mystery, and nobody ever at least points me in a direction. And then on the Magic front, I drafted Foundations again and got an RG deck again, but this one had a severe lack of my other deck's three Lightning Bursts, so I only scraped a 2-win out, especially as I simply didn't draw my colors correctly one match, and then my opponent had the trick in my final match I had carefully negotiated. The most frustrating loss was the decision to swing in before I had overwhelming guys--for whatever reason, I guess fearing a wrath--rather than just use Loot every turn to churn out another beater, I jumped the gun and maxed my Kellan, gave him the landfall equipment, and then attacked with my 4/4 RG rare that pumps based on its own power on Kellan, for a hopefully devastating doublestrike trample swing, but unfortunately my opponent had the trick and blew me out. I shoulda just built my board cuz surely my guys woulda been bigger than his, though he eventually did land a Kiora and had the indestructible trick to make sure she could swing in again for another 8/8 if I ever dealt with the initial one. So I got too antsy, when the name of the game is to take it easy and then just crush in. I wonder if he even had a wrath...I was worried about decking, too, though, and I also hated losing out on a lot of raid effects from Looting guys in at his EOT, but maybe it was worth it just to have more big guys in play for the inevitable crunch.

I just noticed I never showed off this one art I did while making the most recent chapter of my webcomic. I'm tryna do these lighting tests to get better at doing lighting and stuff for my comic, IDK if it helps or not but it probably is useful at getting more cohesive color schemes. I'm trying to not pick colors super arbitrary anymore and stuff like i did in early chapters. I think its kinda sorta paying off.

I'm using cliping masks and blend modes recently to make quick and eazy lighting. useally its a few on the characters to add light and shadow basically I

>clip the layer with the blend mode to the layer that contains the characters

>use airbrush to add the color (gives a nice subtle gradient)

>use layer mask to erase the parts I don't want (almost always on the shadow layer) you can also just erase it on the layer if you don't know about layer masks or if its not in whatever software you use but with layer mask if you fuck up you can undo it

>add a layer or two with a subtle blend mode to tie the image together (useally one that can effect the pure black lineart like screen or hard light)

personally i think it really enhances the scenes it makes it feel more atmosphery, the orange lighting looks so good on Leon's hair mmmm (also just realized i fogor to color Leon's eyes and mouth aaaaaa)

Also while showing off this art because this basically turned into a big behind the scenes post it also made me feel like showing off this ref sheet which i never have actually done before now that I think about it. (i ended up simplyfying the bandage on Red's face for the comic, this does make more sense as a bandage for a serious injury compared to the actual one looking like a shitty band-aid but its distractingly detailed and it would be annoying to draw 50 times)

normally I also draw a back veiw but I was lazy and these outfits are pretty straightforward anyway i'm sure I'll never forget to draw a back veiw in sceneroes where it is important (forshadowing~)

maybe I'll show more refs at some point in the future lol tho some are pretty old and bad (if yall want me to show any in particular I probably can)

anyway this was originally just gunna be the first image but turned into a sorta rant tutorial how fun, should i make more posts like this, who knows, if people find it intresting maybe
