this is an old post but i'd like to list my favorite fat characters in media, some of them "problematic" to some but to me, they're comforting!

-charlotte lola from one piece! she does look a little odd because of oda's style, but she's a very well written, relatable character who just wants to get married and experience an independent life on her own terms because she's traumatized by her mom forcing her into an arranged marriage with someone she did NOT want to be with (so her marriage obsession is not "hurr hurr she's fat and ugly and wants a boyfriend/girlfriend" it's "she had no independence or freedom as a child and was constantly abused for existing so she became a BADASS PIRATE to escape") and she's a BIT of a bisexual/pansexual, as she loves nami both in her "namizou" disguise AND as just regular old nami. also nami's scene where she talks about how her mom would always be there for lola if she needed her and her mom shouted "I DON'T CARE ABOUT LOLA I DISOWNED HER!" especially with the english dub where she has the most southern baptist voice a woman could have is SUCH a huge metaphor for biphobia and lesbiphobia. if lola ended up with nami (i don't think she would've because apparently the one piece pirates can't have romance but other pirates can) she would've uhauled with her AND her husband gotti, who's another fat man who saw her for who she was instead of the Perfect Princess of chocolateland or whatever that her mom made her out to be to pawn her off to a man she never met

-from the same series, charlotte chiffon! she is MARRIED, unlike lola for a long time, and she is a GIRLBOSS with a beautiful fat mafia MALEWIFE! she can kick ass and she chooses to be with her chosen family, the firetank pirates, because she realizes that it's better to be with people she loves than to be surrounded by abuse every day, and THAT in my opinion is what makes a badass fat QUEEN. she'd rather be with her family and happy and kick ass as a firetank pirate than have her mom suck up to her so she can get back into her family and i love that for her. it's very personal that i love the charlotte twins because my grandfather is a lot like big mom in behavior and the fact he was emotionally stunted at childhood so that caused the brunt of his abuse, so like. yeah. that's why the charlotte twins are important fat women to me.

-e honda from street fighter! he's a badass fat guy who knows how to kick ass and take names and LOVES his fat body, and he's a cheerful dude who loves to eat food and loves to be essentially a father figure to characters like chun-li, ken masters, and even manga exclusive characters! he's not really that deep of a character (unless i've missed something because i've not gotten to his portion in street fighter 6), but he's a really sweet guy who makes me feel comforted by his presence.

-ava from only this beautiful moment! her first introduction is LITERALLY her walking into the room in a curve hugging, fat hugging sweater and jeans while wearing a hijab while getting her phone that was playing britney spears' "work bitch" and from the VERY minute she was introduced i KNEW i was gonna love her. she's a queer ally who equally as much loves iranian culture AND american culture alike, loves the iranian partying scene, and supports her friends queerness and transness without ANY hesitation. she is so campy and fun. she literally has "character who's played by a drag queen" vibes she's so amazing. AND she makes sassy comebacks against her mom who fatshames her which, wish i could do that too without getting yelled at! she is BASED. wish i could eat bread coated in cheese and herbs too without having diarrhea. love her.

-hades from the hades calculus! she is, from the outset, described as essentially a fat, imposing, yet athletic figure, and i LOVE fat athletic characters despite my fat ass' only athletic achievements being "can swim across underwater a 4 foot deep pool without drowning" and "can lift heavy objects". her body is described as a large, looming, heavy presence, and that fits her personality as the undertaker of the gods, and she basically is a depressed, gloomy woman who has trouble moving on from her human partner, leuke's, death, and only involves herself in the gods she considers moral, like hephaestus, who i ALSO headcanon as fat but i'm not sure if ze's actually fat or if it's just me wishing a nonbinary character with the body i want is also fat like i am and wish to be for the rest of my life. she's a stone butch top trans lesbian, which fat characters are RARELY any of those in combination, she gains another love interest in persephone, a demigod built essentially as an adult at birth and built to destroy and basically has a freakish, red eyed, overly skinny yet freakishly muscular, nonhuman appearance (for ONCE the FAT CHARACTER IS NOT THE ONE WHO LOOKS LIKE A FREAK), and she falls in LOVE with persephone slowly. i am not finished with the book because i am horribly slow at reading books with any sort of substance but hades is so cool and powerful and sexy and i LOVE her.

I noticed a lot of parallels between Steven Universe and TJ Klune's "Cerulean Chronicles", and since I needed to talk about it, here goes an impromptu essay I'm writing instead of studying for finals.

-Settings-

They are both set in a seaside location (Beach City and Marsyas) and the protagonists' homes are isolated from the rest of the humans. They have a mayor (Helen and Dewey) and the humans are important to the plots (J-Bone/Martin/Norman and Lars/Sadie and all the others)

DICOMY and Homeworld are both strict and perfect and directed by an important order (Extreme Upper Management and The Diamond Authority)

Music plays an important role in both (SU songs and Dead People Music)

Gay af

Gems and Magical Creatures are misunderstood by humans

Emotional found family (do I need to say more?)

-Characters-

Linus and Peridot have a very similar character developments, starting of as employers of the main villains but discovering the beauty of life and freedom in the end

Arthur is Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond in many ways: they are leaders of rebellions (kinda with Arthur) who have lots of secrets and were both able to pull up a human (Greg and Linus)

Zoe can be seen as Lapis: they lost everything, they both hid their existence from others and became dangerous when threatened, but are actually the sweetest. Also with Garnet, the oldest and wisest of the group

Arthur and Linus are the same level of cuteness as Ruby and Sapphire

Helen has the same character as Vidalia

Lion = Calliope

Zoe and Phee's mentor/student relationship mirrors Pearl and Connie's

Marty and Lars are both jerks with a redemption

Steven and the Children are similar: they are carefree and jolly for most of their story, but they mature with time

Steven had several nightmares, like Lucy

I saw a lot of Amethyst in Talia, mostly in their attutide, the same with Phee and Pearl

Chauncey and Steven are cinnamon rolls

Amethyst's chaotic room reminded me of Theodore's hoard

Miss Marblemaw reminded me of Holly Blue Agate

Miss Jenkins/Gunther are Aquamarine/Topaz. Yes

There are also many scenes, like the wedding and the ending of SU with the creation of the peninsula.

Trigun but make it Steven Universe (kinda?)

Pinned this cause I kept freakin' losing it lmao this is for me X3

Right so I've been thinking about Trigun too damn much, honestly new obsession (thanks AuDHD). But anywhoosies, I was thinking about Trigun and saw a picture of Steven Universe and my brain went place so here's a gaggle of thoughts about what if Trigun was set in the Steven universe setting but also not really because it's still trigun somehow.

Also I have watched Stampede and the 98 version of the anime (+badlans rumble). I have not read the manga, yet. So like don't come for me, I like the new looks in Trigun Stampede.

all the thoughts under read more. It's a lot and it's mostly rambly so please be warned.

Okay so plants are gems. Established in my brain that they are gems. But the plants themselves, since they don't have a 'soul' persay like independents, don't have a corporeal form/humanoid body like the independents. Living in big clusters of living thought that are linked to each other through a telepathic connection through the 'earth'. The independents aren't 'rooted' so they have to be very close by or touch the clusters to actually communicate with the plants. Also only diamonds are considered plants/independents. Independents have this ethereal look to them that distinguish them from ragular gems despite looking much more humanoid than the plants. Every other gem person is simply called a gem. They are a lot less powerful and a lot more humanoid in looks and nature, some even have normal 'human' skin tones.

In this au, the serum people like Livio and Wolfwood are either half-gems who's mothers were forced to birth them or they were created in a lab using shattered/dead gems and attaching them to human children/babies. Even less childhood for them in that second option, maybe i'll decide by the time I get to explaining the character concepts.

Also i'm going be be free as fuck with the rules of off-colour gems and fusions and stuff because i do what I want. Headcannon that all independents are off-colours.

Okay so onto the character ideas. The character appearances are based of Trigun Stamped in my brain but feel free to imagine them however yeah? Not much about the characters themselves more about what i imagine them to look like y'know?

Vash: An off-colour yellow diamond (blue eyes, also when he comes in contact with the plants his marking glow blue too instead of yellow), his diamond form has the spiky broom hair. His gem is on his belly (a la rose quartz/pink diamond). After getting hurt by Nai, his gem cracked making on of his arms unusable, he disguises himself as a yellow topaz which has the floppy spiky hair, compared to a regular yellow topaz however his skin colour is still a tad too yellow to look normal. He wears his shades to hide his eye colour specifically. Also the coat was a gift from Luida and Brad who in this Au, are humans took in the runaway gem after he crash landed on earth.

Nai/Millions Knives: An off colour white diamond (teal/green eyes, also when he comes in contact with the plants his marking glow teall/green too instead of white). Similarly to Vash, his skin is slightly to pale and just white to look natural compared to regular white gem people. He rarely interacts/interacted with people other than Vash, Rem and the plants so it doesn't come up often but when he does interact with other gems like Legato he makes his eyes/hair/head glow (a la white diamond) so you can't really tell he's an off-colour. His gem is situated on his chest, and before you say but Nai should have his gem on his head, when was this man ever logical. Mans is an emotional wreck obsessed with his brother (blue/yellow diamond coded if you ask me). Goes after Vash to earth with Legato, his most loyal subject, and meets Conrad a human scientist who is the reason why Tesla is dead and gone (still) and to make ammends with Nai offers his sciency services to help find Vash.

Tesla: A yellow off-colour diamond (same as Vash, cause y'know they look basically the same), was sent to earth to observe and report information to the plants, long before Vash and Nai were even born. She was either lured or captured by scientist who experiemented on her until she was shattered. The reports stopped and neither Nai or Vash were told about her until they both landed on earth and came to learn of it in their own time. Her gem placement is unknown but I'd like to think it was on her forehead because diamond trifecta having the big three gem placements my beloved.

Rem: A black pearl assigned to care for Vash and Nai, by the plants, after what had happened to Tesla. Her gem was either situated on her nape, the back of her neck, or on her throat. Can't decide. I just know that Nai was the one who shattered her and Vash tried to intervene and that's how he got hurt. Two in one trauma for poor Vash.

Legato: Legato, I just knew I had to make this man a full gem. A lapis that was treated as a no good thing because he looked off-colour until he was saved by a brilliant and 'perfect' white diamond (oh honey). Mans is a Lapis Lazuli that had a gold deposit crossing where he was incubating that not only granted his stronger telekinectic powers but also made him look off-colour because he retained some of that gold in his eyes and on his body. I dunno if I want him to be an off-colour or just a really rare variant of Lapis Lazuli. His gem is situated in the palm of his magic hand he has in the animes. Legato is humanoid looking, moreso than Nai but because he is a blue gem his skin looks like he constantly has a bad case of frostbite and his hair is slightly too blue and perfect to look like it's a dye job.

Wolfwood: A half-gem, half-human. I think what I want to happen here is that his mother, a gem, fled to earth, fell in love with a human, became pregnant, gave her life force to her child and dad decided to put Nico up to a local orphanage where Conrad found him later one when Nai/Vash came/crashed into earth and experimented on Nico (similar to what happened in Trigun Stampede and all that). Nico's mother was an black opal, her gem became his gem, it's situated right above his heart.* He looks overall human but his hair is unaturally glossy/shiny with that opaline shine.

Livio: Similar shtick to Nico but I like to imagine that he did exactly have a dad, his mother fell for a human the human left and she ended up leaving Livio (giving up her life force in the process) at the same orphanage where Nico was. His mother was a yellow topaz (oh shit look at that, Vash being a constant reminder of Livio to Nico in his disguise, you love to see it.) and His gem is located over his eye (you know the one with the mask, the fancy one)* He looks mostly human but his remaining eye matches his gem eye in colour.

Also, humans don't really know what gems are, most humans aren't even aware gems are a thing. Most gems look like strange humans but some of them are luckier than other when it comes to looking human. Their gem colour determines the general base colour of their whole self, Nico's mother looked like a very dark skinned woman with dark glossy hair being a black gem. While Livio's mother looked a little more golden than the average person but still fairly normal being a yellow gem person. Gem people like Legato who have blue, purple or green, colours are usually not as seen in the human skin except for the veins have a harder time blending in with humans. However, even if a gem manages to blend in, it's the gems that give them away. Livio's mother wore her hair in a way that hid her eyes from humans while Nico's always wore clothes that hid her gem.

Miss Melanie didn't quite understand what the boy's were but she made it work. She dressed nico in clothes that would keep his gem hidden and when Livio arrived at her doorstep she fashioned him a small eyepatch to hide his eye. She decided to protect them as best she could despite knowing their were different from the regular child.

*So I put his gem over his heart because yeah it fits but man I was tempted to put it on his nose because it's funny (still might honestly X3) or heck even put in on top of his hand, the one that holds the punisher for the trauma of it all and have Livio also have his gem on top of his hand but on the opposite one. But then I decided against that because Legato has his gem on his hand and even though it'd be a fun 'all gungho guns have their gems on their hands/near their hands' thing I didn't vibe with it as hard.

If Nai and Vash were to fuse it would be a disaster of limbs despite being both diamonds. They're core values and ideals different too much (see malachite from SU). So many eyes, arms and legs a real monster. They'd make like a pale yellow diamond together though.

Nico and Livio fusing would make like a miriam jasper. I think they'd kinda become a almost erfect fusion. Like maybe gain a singular eye or something.

Nico and Vash would probably make a good fusion too, maybe have an extra pair of arms or eyes because they view/react to the world differently but over time they'd kinda lose that extra pair of something because they understand each other too damn well. They'd me like a chocolate diamond or like amber.

And finally if Legato and Nai were to fuse they'd make a moonstone or like an aquamarine. Legato is so damn devoted I think they wouldn't even have an extra anything tbh Xc

Milly, Meryl and Roberto are humans in this Au!

All the gungho guns are half-gems except for Legato cause he's special. I didn't think too much about them yet so like most of them I don't have ideas for but uh, here's some.

Elendira (we're giving her, her trimax form because of course we are, what a queen), would probably be some type of red gem because crimson nail. A garnet or perhaps a ruby maybe?

EG the mine, probably like a green gem (98 anime him had green hair but also green just fits). Maybe not an emerald but like a peridot? or maybe malachite.

Midvalley is definitly a purple gem, it's just his vibe, that suit of his is the 98 anime with the pink and the purplish brown is just *chef's kiss*. Amethyst or Sugilite possibly.

Zazie the beast, dolomite with cinnabar. White gem with red desposits. The stampede white/red hair look has me in it's goddamn clutches okay.

And then finally Dominique the cyclops, i like her she's nifty. A red garnet, a dark one. It looks black like her eyes and hair in the shadow but then in the light it's a bright blood red like her demon eye.

Maybe i'll figure a gem for the others later, we'll see.

Steven Universe Reread: Harmony

There’s a bad habit people can fall into when adding things to an existing canon: Instead of making something new, they reframe the same content that already exists so as to avoid getting anything “wrong.” Of course, if it was part of the core product, this sort of writing would be unacceptable. This impulse seems to be particularly bad for the comics of Steven Universe. 

Steven Universe: Harmony is not nearly the worst example. Our Fateful Journey is far worse. Lars and the Off Colors just recapitulate everything we’ve seen of their space adventure, plus a meaningless dream sequence. It’s the thing that made me lose the will to continue my Steven Universe review series. 

But Harmony does fall into this trap a few times. Topaz and Aquamarine are working together in a completely different context. The series didn’t particularly imply that they were long-term coworkers; I took their relationship as two people assigned to the same mission without much of a past. Their colors implied that this was a Yellow/Blue combined force. Hence Aquamarine describes Topaz’s sentimentality as something her type of person did, not something that Topaz and Topaz did in particular.

I do like to see them in a different context, though. It’s hard to imagine that they would spend all their time gathering life forms for zoos, since the Diamond Authority seems to think that all non-gem life has no value.

One of the big benefits of the comics is all the different art styles. Harmony’s style is really cool.  Sadie in particular looks like an actual person, albeit with a body type that’s essentially nonexistent in our media. Harmony Sadie is worth the price in and of itself.

I enjoy Peridot being a gremlin. This might be her ultimate gremlin form. I don’t think she should know about smashing guitars without establishing that she’s looked into Rock and Roll culture. She’s new to something as common as Rock Paper Scissors, so it seems far fetched that she knows that detail. (I don’t buy her inability to “get” Rock Paper Scissors, and I think there’s a better joke in there somewhere, since gems are kinda rocks.) 

(I enjoy the “Chuh Chuh!” even if I have no idea what that sound represents. She’s just off in her own world)

The actual threat of the comic, the weird magic resonance stones that put people in some kind of alternate reality, are too magical to really have rules that we can understand. Pearl says that someone has to stay behind in the alternate world, or someone says that musical resonance should help and all we can do is shrug and accept it. 

For something that can’t really make sense, they spend a little too much time in the weeds of the mechanics.

That being said, even though I knew Pearl was obviously going to be fine, I still got a little emotional from her sacrifice.

I like one thing the comics do all the time: unjustified fusion. The comics have about as many fusions as the entire TV series. 

Great art.

Anyway, Harmony is nice if you’re looking for an SU fix, but it’s nothing amazing.

Steven Universe Alternate Future chapter 16: Enemy of my Enemy (originally published on May 3, 2021)

AN: At long last, Black Rutile strikes! I have been anticipating writing this inevitable confrontation between her and the Crystal Gems for ages, and now finally everything I've building up to these past two parts will come together in a neat little package! We got a big battle, a villain song, fusions, who could ask for more?! But I'm getting ahead of myself, let us finally begin.

Synopsis: Jasper is unofficially sworn into the Crystal Gems when some old foes come together.

It has been a hectic past few hours for Steven. He was having another nice day when suddenly, Hessonite, Squaridot, and the Off-Colors all came flying out of Lion's mane, telling him that Lars needs to see him just as the Destiny Destroyer crash-landed on the beach.

Not too long after, Lars was rushed to the hospital and Steven decided to follow him in the ambulance. Steven had never been to a hospital before, so it was a little frightening for him to be somewhere on Earth that he had never been before, especially since many humans go there regularly.

"Hello, did you admit any patients into this place recently?" Steven hurriedly asked the receptionist.

"Name please." the college-aged receptionist answered, barely glancing up from her phone to meet Steven's panicking eyes.

"Steven Universe!" Steven gave his name.

"You're going to have to be more specific Mr. Universe." the receptionist stated.

"He's got pink skin, a scar over one eye and his hair is a portal to a pocket dimension where there's like a couple of trees inside." Steven explained. The woman just stared at Steven in confusion for a bit before going back to her phone. "Anything the matter, miss?"

"I'm happy you said all of that with a straight face." the receptionist said, putting down her phone to go on the computer. "One sec Universe." She looked up the most recent patients on the monitor and turned it to show Steven his desired patient. "Are you looking for Mr. Laramie Barriga?"

"Yes, that's him!" Steven exclaimed. "I was there when he got taken away in that ambulance! Where is he now?"

"Room 723." the receptionist answered. "Take the elevator, make a left and then a right. Got that?"

Before the woman could turn back, Steven had already vanished to find Lars. "Kids." she grumbled.

As Steven raced through the hospital in search of his undead friend, numerous unfamiliar sights greeted him. A doctor's office contained a child receiving a flu shot, a man in a wheelchair let Steven pass him by, a woman was on her way to an operating room, and a doctor solemnly fixed an empty hospital bed while a family was mourning.

Finally, Steven reached Room 723 just as a nurse was passing by the room. "Hello, I'm a friend of the patient occupying this room, and the Off-Colors told me what happened. Can I please come in and visit him?"

"You may." The nurse replied and opened the door for Steven. "Doctor Laurie, our patient has one more visitor." She said to the doctor standing by a bedridden Lars along with his parents, Sadie and Shep. "He said a bunch of "Off-Colors" told him everything."

"I'm here Lars!" Steven exclaimed as he rushed into the hospital room to be by Lars's side. "Hessonite and the Off-Colors told me what happened after they came flying out of Lion's mane!"

"Steven, finally!" Lars cried happily as he grabbed Steven's shoulders. "Listen, I need to warn you! You and the entire planet are doomed!"

A little while later, Lars was given a clean bill of health and was allowed to go home by ambulance. He sat on one side of the ambulance with his parents while Steven sat on the other end, and Lars continued to reveal what happened on Homeworld.

"What I'm trying to say Steven is that there's this Gem who's been inspiring others to rebel against you and Era 3!" Lars explained. "She's gathered up tons of your old enemies so they can get revenge too, and they're coming for Earth!"

"Lars, I understand your concern," Steven calmly stated. "but you're getting a little wound up over nothing. Almost everyone loves what I've done to the Gem race. There's nothing bigger going on, outside of Aquamarine being annoying."

"Seriously, you don't believe me?" Lars flatly asked in disbelief. "Well, do you at least believe what Hessonite said?"

"I believe that you teamed up for a fun space adventure!" Steven answered before his phone started ringing. "Whoops, got a call from Garnet." he said before answering the call. "Hello?"

"Steven, you need to come to Little Homeworld quick!" Garnet urged Steven from the other end. "Rogue Gems are on the attack, and they want us dead! Me, Amethyst, Pearl, Lapis, Peridot and Bismuth have already helped evacuate everyone, but we still need you to save the day again!"

"I'll be right there!" Steven bravely declared before hanging up and turning to the driver. "Sir, I need you to take us to Little Homeworld!"

"It's an emergency!" Lars added while showing him a picture of the Gem village.

"I don't see why not." the driver replied as he made a detour to Little Homeworld.

"You sure about this Lars?" Dante asked his son. "I mean, you just survived falling from space, I don't think we can handle you risking your life again so soon!"

"I promise you guys, I'll be back home when this is all over and I'm back in space." Lars assured his parents and hugged them.

"Be safe Laramie." Nancy said. "But then again, you got Steven to help out."

"Yeah, he's got me alright." Steven assured Mr. and Mrs. Barriga.

"Okay kid, we're here." the ambulance driver declared as the vehicle came close to Little Homeworld. "This is probably the first time I've escorted someone to stop an alien invasion."

"Here's good, thanks, sir." Steven said before the two boys bust the ambulance doors open and raced off to Little Homeworld.

What the pair discovered when they finally reached Little Homeworld was utter chaos. Almost everything was in ruins, smoke billowed everywhere, Light Warriors, Cluster Gems & Cactus Stevens were pillaging & demolishing, and at the center of it all was Aquamarine and Eyeball.

"Steven Universe, what a most pleasant surprise." Aquamarine purred as she turned to face Steven and Lars, batting her wand in her hand. "And look you've even brought Lars as well."

"Aquamarine, Eyeball." Steven laughed nervously while looking at the chaos behind the pair. "Did you, uh, maybe come to reconsider?"

"Reconsider, my facet!" Eyeball yelled before her fusion partner stopped her.

"But we did come with a few new friends." Aquamarine answered smugly.

"Well, that's certainly a start." Steven grinned before a massive hand made of water grabbed him and its creator brought him up to face her. "Hey, you're one of those Lapises! What brings you to Earth?"

"Sorry kid, I'm one of those new friends." Lapis 1J9G announced before dropping Steven to the ground and folding her arms as she landed right next to Aquamarine. "And we're afraid not even half-listening to you will work this time."

"See Steven, this is what I was trying to talk to you about!" Lars exclaimed, gesturing wildly to the three Gems. "A bunch of Gems want to get back at you! Though I thought there'd be more."

"I believe he's referring to me." Emerald bragged as she stepped forward with a panicking George in her hand.

"George!" Steven shouted. "And you, I know you! You're uh," He began getting off track as he only ever saw Emerald through a video screen. "Sorry, I've only met you that one time and now I've kinda forgotten-"

"IT'S EMERALD!" Emerald shrieked furiously. "How could you forget about me after Era 3 made the Diamonds let Lars off with a slap on the wrist for stealing my Sun Incinerator?!"

"Oh, calm yourself Emerald." Pyrope calmed the elite Gem down as she held aloft one of George's sisters, who was in full panic mode and pulling on her pigtails.

"Indeed," Demantoid added, also holding one of George's sisters in her enhanced arm. "You wouldn't want to make yourself less presentable for our victims."

Just then, the six Gems moved aside and kneeled to their leader, whose very appearance completely rocked Steven's world. Black Rutile walked towards Steven with a bowie knife to a rose while White Topaz followed her. When she cut the rose's head, Black Rutile finally faced Steven with an evil smile.

"I know you, you're that reporter!" Steven exclaimed. "Why are you hanging with these guys?!"

"I'm hanging with them?" Black Rutile scoffed at Steven. "I believe you're mistaken; THEY'RE hanging with ME!" She then threw away the rose's stem and steepled her fingers together. "Anyways, do you have any last words?"

"This is not good at all certainly fits." Steven declared nervously before the eight Gems slowly began marching towards the boy, eager to finally get their revenge.

However, their plans were quickly cut off before they could be put into action as Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl swooped into saved Steven and Lars from the rogue Gems.

"We trusted you, you psycho!" Pearl roared while her spear clashed with Black Rutile's knife.

"And everyone was dumb enough to trust you." Black Rutile replied snarkily. "So as you humans say, hello pot, meet kettle."

"Seriously, what makes you think we're worse than you are?" Amethyst asked.

"Something about how your ways will make the Gem race a bunch of puny hippies or whatever." White Topaz answered. "No hard feelings when we destroy you and everything you worked so hard for?"

"What did I tell you about getting friendly with the enemy?" Black Rutile hissed at her Topaz bodyguard before turning back to the Crystal Gems. "Now, let me repeat myself. Any last words?"

"My future vision tells me you will fail." Garnet declared defiantly. "And we will find a way to make that future happen."

"Such noble sentiments from a couple of Gems who are gonna die!" Black Rutile replied as her knife turned into a sword that she prepared to slash the Gems with until a loud rumbling sound was heard. "What was that?"

"Need a hand?" Peridot asked as she, Lapis, and Bismuth appeared on a makeshift flying machine made out of scrap metal that she controlled with her ferrokinesis.

"So that's where you ran off to!" Pearl exclaimed while Bismuth picked her up by the hand to toss onto the metal pad.

"No time to talk, we have to move!" Lapis exclaimed, picking everyone else up with her water powers. When everyone was on board, the pad zoomed off.

"Uh, why aren't we stopping them?!" Lapis 1J9G exclaimed before preparing to fly off when Black Rutile stopped her.

"Let them run." Black Rutile smiled deviously. "I want to see how they can lie their ways out of this situation. But in the meantime, I have another idea."

Before the Crystal Gems knew it, they finally returned to the beach house where Hessonite, Squaridot, and the Off-Colors awaited their return.

"I still can't believe it!" Steven gasped in denial of their current situation. "I get that not everyone would like what I've done with Homeworld, but I don't think I'd make them angry enough to want to kill me!"

"I tried to warn you, Steven." Lars declared sassily. "But you just didn't listen! Probably because you're so in denial of wanting to accept that not everything will go your way."

"Lars, this is no time for backtalk, Earth could be in danger!" Pearl scolded the pink-skinned human as the group walked into the house to think of a plan. "That Rutile seems to have thought of everything! I mean, she's a Rutile for crying out loud, they barely held any power in Homeworld!" However, Pearl then turned to the Rutile twins standing right next to her. "Uh, no offense you two."

"None taken." The twins replied.

"Still, she's got quite an army at her side." Lapis said. "She's got one of those Lapises I fought on Aozul 2, she's got Aquamarine, Eyeball, Pyrope & Demantoid, an Emerald, and that's not even accounting for the minions they got!"

"But what does Black Rutile want with us?" Peridot and Squaridot asked in unknowing unison.

"According to her Topaz, it must be something to do with that Steven did to the Gem race." Bismuth analyzed. "But who knows what she'll do next?"

"I know." Garnet declared. "I've looked through dozens of possible timelines trying to uncover Black Rutile's true plans. This is what I feel could be the worst possible one."

"What does it look like?" Steven asked before Garnet kissed him on the head, temporarily bestowing Steven with her future vision and a glimpse at what could be to come.

It took centuries of careful planning but at long last, Black Rutile had finally won. Once the Crystal Gems were finally destroyed and she indoctrinated the Gems they had enslaved to her noble cause, she then reawakened the Cluster that was slumbering within the Earth's crust, ultimately finishing what the Diamonds were too cowardly to do and destroying that annoying little planet once and for all.

Within mere weeks, the Diamonds met their demise, and Black Rutile installed herself as the new ruler of all Gemkind. And with the beginnings of her dictatorship came the Gems reverting to their old ways during Era 4. The caste system was reinstated but also reinvented at the same time. Now, it was Black Rutile above everyone else.

As countless Gems were tormented into building a grand statue to their magnanimous leader, a lone Pearl solemnly marched through the throngs of enslaved Gems under the orders of Emerald, until she was brought before Black Rutile, who was sitting on a throne as black as her body & her heart while the shattered remains of all who opposed her hanged above her in one big bubble.

"My Rutile, I come with the most glorious of tidings." Emerald decreed as she shoved Volleyball forward. "We have succeeded in terminating the resistance, but I feel you'd find particular interest in shattering their leader yourself."

"Ah yes, Pink Diamond's little Pearl." Black Rutile snickered as she descended from her throne to meet Volleyball. "Who would've guessed a submissive little slave would try to start a revolution? Well, anything to say?"

Volleyball, however, was too terrified to speak, having just witnessed her fellow rebels being shattered before her eye and now faced with the thought of being destroyed herself.

"What's that? No grand speech about how hope will live on or that there will be others like you that will rise against me?" Black Rutile asked rhetorically. "Oh please, I've destroyed every last threat to my power on both this planet and the Asteroid Field Formerly Known as Earth." She declared, gesturing towards the shard-filled bubble floating over her throne. "What's another pile of shards to add to the collection?"

With that, Black Rutile extracted her bowie knife from her gem and used it to jab Volleyball in hers, ending her life within mere seconds.

"So ends the legacy of Pink Diamond." Black Rutile purred as she collected the Pearl's shards in a bubble. "A real shame. She had so much potential and wasted it on being a total brat and threatening her own kind."

She then returned to her throne, where she lifted the bubble towards the bigger bubble, and the two merged. Now Volleyball's remains joined the tons of Gems that Black Rutile had heartlessly shattered. Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, Pearl, Peridot, Lapis, Bismuth, Hessonite, Citrine, Spinel, the Diamonds, all nothing more than shards. But her proudest achievement was the small gathering of pink dust that was once Steven Universe.

Returning to the present day, Steven was left utterly aghast at this possible future, but it made his resolve to stop Black Rutile even stronger. "We have to keep this future from happening!" he declared. "All we need to do is gather up an army of our own!"

"I'll call Connie and see if she's free to save the world again today." Pearl stated as she picked up her phone and started dialing.

"Which Gems do you want me to recruit out of everyone we evacuated?" Garnet asked.

"I don't know, just pick anyone!" Steven exclaimed.

"That's the Steven we know and love!" Amethyst replied, cheerfully giving Steven a noogie when she came to a realization. "Hey wait, if Black Rutile is gathering up Gems that have a beef with us, then what would you think if she tried recruiting Jasper?"

"Y'know, Jasper did say she was eager to fight again." Steven agreed with the little Quartz. "Maybe we should try and get to her first."

"I'm not sure Steven." Pearl said as she got off the phone with Connie. "Besides, I don't think Jasper would ever want to side with us."

"Black Rutile has gathered as much information as possible on all of us, and Jasper has likely been given the same treatment." Squaridot stated. "So it's just as likely that she'll try and ensnare Jasper to her side."

"We have to get to Jasper before Black Rutile does!" Steven hurriedly declared before turning to the Warp Pad behind him. "Gotta go, I'll be back soon!"

As Steven left for the forest via Warp Pad, the other Gems just gazed at the pad where he once stood.

"Good luck Steven." Pearl muttered before turning to Lion. "Go fetch Connie, okay?"

Lion nodded obediently and let out a roar, creating a portal that he leaped through to get to Connie.

Meanwhile, deep within the woods of Beach City, Jasper had been watching all that was going on in Little Homeworld from on top of her cave. As she watched smoke billow from afar, she couldn't help but feel that Steven brought this upon himself for enforcing peace for all Gems.

"He could've just ended colonization and leave it at that, but no!" Jasper muttered to herself while leaping down to the entrance of her cave. "He had to make them all into peace-loving weaklings!"

"Couldn't agree more." Jasper heard a familiar voice concur with her opinion. When the orange Gem turned around, she discovered Black Rutile leaning on a nearby tree with Aquamarine standing on a branch above her. "Jasper, correct? I don't think we got properly introduced to each other."

"If you're here for another interview, then forget it!" Jasper bellowed at Black Rutile before bringing her attention to Aquamarine. "And I see you got that little brat with you too."

"You are indeed correct Jasper." Aquamarine declared. "In fact, I'm not the only one who she recruited because of how dissatisfied I am with Era 3. Many Gems have been rallied by my master here to rebel against Steven's oppression and create a utopia."

"Are you sure about that?" Jasper asked with an eyebrow raised. "Sounds to me like you're starting some kind of cult?"

"A cult?! Stuff and nonsense!" Black Rutile assured the quartz. "We are simply fighting for our rights! Would you like to join us?"

"Jasper, don't!" Steven exclaimed as he rushed to the cave, where he saw Jasper standing with Black Rutile. "Please, you have to listen, Black Rutile is not to be trusted!"

"Don't you dare listen to him!" Black Rutile insisted. "He's the son of Pink Diamond, and it's both their faults you went from mighty Gem warrior to a lonely shell of your former self! Don't you see, you could finally get your revenge on Pink!"

"Revenge on my Diamond?" Jasper growled. "Fat chance! Why would I ally with some low-ranking Rutile just because she hates Pink like almost every Gem on this planet?! I'd rather be a peace-loving weakling than one of your lackeys!"

"Low-ranking?!" Black Rutile argued. "I'll have you know Jasper, I was one of a kind among Gems of my type because I worked my hardest to receive White Diamond's highest honors and join the upper-class of her court! You're just a mere Jasper who probably didn't even know Pink in person for the selfish, bratty sociopath she w-"

Before the Rutile could finish, Jasper summoned her crash helmet and sent her flying out of the forest with a single headbutt. "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS, YOU ROTTEN QUARTZ!" Black Rutile cursed Jasper. "YOU JANKING CLOD!"

As Aquamarine chased after the flying Rutile, Jasper turned to Steven with a grumpy look in her eyes. In contrast, the starry-eyed Steven squealed excitedly while staring at Jasper. "Quit looking at me like that." Jasper snarled. "Let me guess, you want to recruit me too?"

"I thought you'd never ask!" Steven declared eagerly.

"Yes indeed, my Ministry of Maliciousness shall soon destroy the United Defenders of the World and conquer the world at last!" a weirdly animated mad scientist with three circles arranged in a triangle decorating his bald head declared as he gestured to his fellow supervillains. Amethyst was watching this happen on television with some of the other Gems in Steven's room.

"Apex Predator!" A muscular man decorated in animal skins fired his highly advanced hunting rifle at nothing in particular.

"Electric Ellen!" A young woman in a black suit with lightning bolt patterns demonstrated her powers for the other villains.

"Automato!" A bronze robot with green optics simply stood by his seat at the table of criminals, his soulless eyes unblinking.

"Scare Master!" A large man in a monster costume that continuously leaked hallucinogenic gas and wearing a yellow ring let out a ghoulish laugh.

"The Unidentified Felonious Extraterrestial!" A cybernetic insectoid alien made a shrieking noise, exposing the smaller head in its mouth.

"And of course, your illustrious leader!" the scientist introduced himself. "The world's greatest criminal mind, Professor Poindexter, Ph.D.!"

"Uh, why are we watching this show?" Zuli asked Amethyst while she sat next to Lapis.

"This is what our current sitch reminds me of!" Amethyst explained. "Mangolin's archenemy Professor Poindexter gathers up each of the United Defenders of the Globe's enemies to form, like, a team of supervillains!"

"Why is the animation so lazy?" Peridot wondered as she leaned on Biggs Jasper.

"It was the 70s, limited budget." Amethyst said. "Ooh wait, here comes Mangolin!"

The cartoon then changed scenes from the Ministry of Maliciousness to the United Defenders of the World, which included Mangolin, Uber-Chap, Battle Goddess, Pyro-Nado, Shamrock Cavalier, Gizmo-Chick, and Vincent the Visitor.

"Termite terrors, Defenders!" the pangolin-themed hero Mangolin exclaimed. "Our foe Professor Poindexter has assembled our enemies to destroy us once and for all! We must do something!"

"They just explained that to us!" Nephrite said. "What, do they think the viewers are stupid or something?"

Just then, the group of Gems heard the Warp Pad go off, signaling that Steven has finally returned.

"Hey, Steven's back!" Teal Zircon exclaimed before racing down the stairs to see her half-human friend again, and this time she was in for a surprise. "Hey Jasper, remember me? Your new best friend?"

"I regret this decision already." Jasper cringed at having to ally with Teal as the other Gems came back downstairs. "Oh look, a whole menagerie of useless clods! Why even bring them all together when I can just take Black Rutile's forces on myself?"

"Jasper, no need to brag about your strength." Lapis said to the more muscular Gem. "This is serious, the whole planet is at stake here!"

"And I should care because?" Jasper snarled in disagreement.

"Um, this is your Diamond's planet?" an exasperated Pearl replied. "Surely you wouldn't want anyone to touch what Pink owned, right?"

"I suggest you don't talk that way to a Gem like her." Rhodonite said to Pearl. "She looks like she could go wild on us at any moment."

"Just calm down everyone." Fluorite advised calmly. "I know we're all stressed because of our current situation, but let's not start arguing."

"And who are all of these?" Jasper asked as she gestured to the Off-Colors, Hessonite & Squaridot, Zuli, Snowflake Obsidian, Little Larimar, Nephrite, Topaz, and Biggs Jasper. "I suppose they're all from that stupid school of yours?"

"Well, most of them are." Steven pointed out. "And maybe when this is all over, you could finally give Little Homeschool a chan-"

"Pass." Jasper coldly declared. "Shouldn't we be getting ready to fight right now?"

"Jasper's right." Bismuth agreed. "We're all in this together, for Earth."

And right on cue, Lion finally returned with Connie on his back, her sword at the ready. "How convenient that I finished most of my work in time for another chance at saving the world!" Connie stated as she dismounted from Lion and hugged Steven. "So, who are we fighting?"

"Come with us to Little Homeworld, I'll show you." Steven answered before he began to walk towards the Warp Pad. "Gems, let's get a move on."

And so, the Crystal Gems and all their assorted allies marched towards the Warp Pad, ready to take back Little Homeworld from Black Rutile's rebels and defend the planet once more. When Steven spread out his arms, off they all went in a beam of light.

"Ugh, I'm so bored!" Eyeball complained, pacing around while the rest of the alliance mindlessly caused more damage to Little Homeworld out of complete boredom. "I suppose they finally realized they were stupid to stop us and skipped Earth without telling?"

"Patience Ruby." Aquamarine advised her fusion partner. "They should be coming soon."

"What makes you so sure?" White Topaz asked Aquamarine as she revealed her weapon, a pair of brass knuckles.

"Steven came running for Jasper thinking she can join his side." The little blue Gem answered. "What an idiot, am I right?!"

Suddenly, Aquamarine was in for a scare as Little Homeworld's Warp Pad activated from right behind her, and on it were the Crystal Gems.

"Okay Black Rutile, we're here." Steven declared with Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, Connie, Lion, Peridot, Lapis, Bismuth, Jasper, Hessonite, Squaridot, Lars, the Off-Colors, TZ, Zuli, Topaz, Snowflake, Larimar, Biggs, and Nephrite behind him. "All of us!"

"Oh, you finally showed up! Good timing." Black Rutile sarcastically applauded her foes. "And I see you got a little rag-tag bunch of over-eager losers by your side too."

"Hey 2F8D, so this is what you've been up to." 1J9G cattily greeted her ex-partner. "Being a pacifist baby and letting yourself be Steven's slave."

"I'm not a slave, neither to him or you!" Zuli yelled at 1J9G. "I came to Little Homeworld not just to learn how to appreciate Earth, but to learn how to make actual friends! Not be submissive to overly-controlling jerks!"

"I thought I could trust you Aquamarine!" Topaz went next. "I thought you changed by meeting that Ruby and fusing with her, but now I see you'll always be the same little monster you always are!"

"Oh stop Topaz, you're too kind!" Aquamarine said to her former Topaz.

"Crystal Gems, assemble!" Garnet bravely pointed forward to prepare for one last attack, but Steven stopped her.

"Wait!" Steven exclaimed. "Before we all get into one big fight, I want to know. Why do you hate me in particular? Outside of Era 3, I mean."

"You really want to know?" Black Rutile replied. "Well, allow me to put this in the only way you'll probably understand." She turned to White Topaz while fetching some kind of device from her gem. "Music please."

White Topaz turned the device on and music began to play, cuing Black Rutile to start a song. "When one era ends, another begins. It's such a big change for all us Gems." She sang. "But some aren't new fans of the old ways, and prefer to look back on the old days. But I on the other hand got a chance, to make this the Crystal Gems' last dance. And now I pray through endless days, to finally get rid of you."

"Is she singing?" Lars gasped at the musical number that just began as drum music kicked in. "Did she have a machine made for that purpose?"

"When I first emerged for my Diamond, White the master tactician!" Black Rutile began telling her origins through holograms on her visor, showing a just-emerged Rutile in a Kindergarten standing before White Diamond. "She revealed to me in secret signs, the markings of a great Gem! And she was indeed no clod, could reduce entire armies to sod! And all the fools that dared cross her, she'd just shrug and then shatter!"

"I studied well, got my tools of the trade, always got nothing but an A-grade!" After Black Rutile did away with the hologram showing her emergence, she started revealing the hard work she did to gain her high status among White Diamond's subjects. "But then he walked in and called himself Pinky, soon everyone got down to one knee." A stylized version of Steven's first arrival on Homeworld came next, and the stylized Black Rutile wasn't very pleased. "What never died was my ambition, and my keen intuition. Both of them gave me a complex, and made me want to rule the universe."

As the song went on, Steven began learning more about the consequences of his actions and how much Black Rutile truly despised him. "Every glimmer from your smile makes me want to puke!" his new foe complained. "Who to slay, who's the one, who's to doom? You know the only one would be my new archenemy, Steven U!"

With that, the chorus soon began with Black Rutile's minions joining in, sans White Topaz. "Wither the rose! Growing shadows! Sow a world of chaos!" the seven Gems sang in harmony. "Wither the rose! Only highs, no lows! In a world of chaos!"

"Is this the time for a song?" Connie asked. "Why don't we just attack them while they're singing?"

"Black Rutile is going to put on an admittedly wonderful song!" Padparadscha exclaimed.

"Ha!" Black Rutile laughed as the musical break reaches its end before turning to her Cluster Gems, cyborg Cactus Stevens and Light Warriors. "Come on minions, hurry along, this little school will soon be gone!" she commanded them before hugging herself in excitement. "I could squeeze myself with glee! Next the Diamonds and then this galaxy! I would really stop at nothing, shattering, treachery and lies! Whatever it takes to reign supreme, you really can't blame me for trying."

The tune soon began to reach its climax. "Wither the rose! Growing shadows! Sow a world of chaos! Wither the rose! Don't you doze!"

"We shall restore Homeworld's true order!" Aquamarine soon joined in.

"Vengeance will soon finally be ours!" Eyeball added sadistically.

"Saying sorry just won't cut it!" Emerald chorused.

"Dismantling the new superpowers!" Lapis 1J9G stated.

"Armies rampaging across the stars!" Demantoid declared.

"Covered in so many scars!" Pyrope boomed.

"Nothing but eternal war," Black Rutile concluded. "Join us as we make our own colony!"

"Genocide, slaughtering, jingoism, in enemy blood we shall wade!” The seven Gems announced. "Homeworld Gems come celebrate, as we make this bratty starlight fade!"

The song finally ended and the alliance of hatred took a bow before Black Rutile changed her knife into a broadsword with a massive blade and a tiny handle. "Now that we explained everything," she stated before pointing her sword forward. "CHARGE!"

The two sides finally clashed at Little Homeworld for the fate of Earth. Lapis & Zuli took to the skies against 1J9G, Pyrope & Demantoid led an unwilling Light Army, Emerald sped forth to personally confront Lars, and Black Rutile, White Topaz, Aquamarine & Eyeball personally confronted Steven, Garnet, Amethyst & Pearl.

"Fire!" Demantoid commanded some Light Warriors bearing laser cannons to shoot at Teal Zircon & Nephrite, but Jasper and Topaz were there to shield her from the blasts. "You!"

"You saved me!" TZ exclaimed. "Guess you really do think of me as your best friend, dontcha Jasp?"

"No, I still find you one of the most annoying beings I've ever met." Jasper replied. "But still, better to side with someone as irritating as you."

"I thought we were all friends!" 1J9G exclaimed as she clashed her water with Lapis and Zuli's. "I only joined these guys just so I could get you back!"

"Why would we ever take you back?!" Lapis stated.

"When we ran into 3E8C after years, she showed me that she and Steven were the best of friends!" Zuli added. "Not an overly controlling jerk who refuses to let me have fun!"

"See what she means?!" 1J9G said. "He's brainwashed all of you!" The only response she got was a punch to the face from Zuli.

Down below, Lars and Connie sparred against Emerald. "Don't think Steven will be there to save you today!" Emerald taunted, snapping her fingers and revealing electric powers to fight with. "He'll just throw you away, just like how Pink always threw everything away!"

"Sheesh, sins of the mother much?" Lars dryly commented.

"Steven is nothing like that!" Connie argued. "If you knew him, you'd know he's the sweetest, most caring guy you could ever meet!"

"Oh blah blah blah, I get it, he's too pure for this universe and he must be protected at all costs!" Emerald said. "Black Rutile has shown me what he truly is like."

Finally, the Crystal Gems battled with Black Rutile and her three most loyal followers. Garnet went up against White Topaz, Amethyst vs Eyeball, Pearl vs Aquamarine, and finally Steven vs Black Rutile.

"Why are you doing this?!" Steven asked Black Rutile while in utter denial. "I brought peace to the galaxy, I ended the Diamonds' oppression!"

"And stripped all Gems of their livelihoods in the process." Black Rutile coldly replied as her sword clashed with Steven's shield. "Look around you kid, these Gems came to my side because they have no status, no allies, no power over others! And now, they come to Earth for retribution against you!"

"But this still isn't right!" Steven claimed. "I understand that some may not be comfortable with what I've done, but that doesn't excuse you for all this."

"Kinda like how you excused the Diamonds for all they did just because they were sad, or something stupid like that." Black Rutile insulted.

"That's because they were!" Steven exclaimed. "They were in mourning!"

"Mourning the so-called death of an annoying brat I had the displeasure of sharing a planet with!" Black Rutile yelled as she began fighting in a way that resembled capoeira and gymnastics. "This all could've been avoided if you just put your enemies out of their misery, or at least punished them, rather than just excusing them with a stupid song and acting like everything was just water under the bridge!"

"You're thinking of retributive justice, where the offender did something wrong and the punishment is just as severe in exchange." Steven replied. "We Crystal Gems practice restorative justice, where we actually talk to the offenders and try to see how we can help them without using lethal force."

"Well, whatever you're talking about, you can call me a proud supporter of retributive justice." Black Rutile declared herself. "As in, me and my pals are seeking retribution against you and your posse for what you did to our society, and will do so by any means necessary. Because you think everything can just bend to your will if you just make everyone around you cry?! You really are no better than Pink!"

"Well, I'm trying to be better than my mom, both Pink Diamond, and Rose Quartz." Steven responded, blocking another attack from Black Rutile. "But I'm pretty sure they'd both find a sociopath like you beyond saving."

"Me, a sociopath?! You barely even know me!" Black Rutile yelled before bunting Steven's shield away when he tried to throw it. "Well, you're certainly right on me being a bit selfish, but look at you. I mean, you've made excuses for murderers, bigots, and toxic friends, yet anyone who's just doing what they're made to do is instantly made a pariah just because they don't like you and your dumb little sidekicks!"

Behind Black Rutile's back, however, her alliance was slowly beginning to fall apart, yet she didn't seem to care. Hessonite, Peridot, Biggs, and Squaridot hid behind a wall to avoid the Light Warriors' attacks.

"Got a plan, you guys?" Biggs asked the other three Gems.

"I have." Hessonite replied. "The Peridots shall distract them by taking control of Demantoid's limb enhancers while I swoop in and steal back the Light Prisms! Then perhaps we can turn the Light Army on them."

"I'll see what I can do." Peridot stated, but then Squaridot put a green hand on her shoulder.

"No, allow me." Squaridot stated before using her ferrokinetic powers to meddle with Demantoid's limb enhancers.

"No no, not again!" Demantoid yelled as she was dumped out of her mech, and the Light Prism she was holding hostage fell out with her only to be caught by Hessonite at rapid speed. "My Prism!"

"Demantoid you child, you could've just fought back instead of letting yourself get defeated!" Pyrope said, unaware that her Prism was stolen as well. "Wait, what?"

As Hessonite returned to Peridot and Squaridot with the Light Prisms in hand, the Light Warriors dropped their current activities and began to surround the three Gems peacefully. "Now that you know who's really in charge here," Hessonite bragged before she pointed at her fellow Garnets. "FIRE!"

"No, it can't be!" Pyrope squealed in utter defeat as the Light Warriors pointed their weapons at her and Demantoid.

"Hold me close Pyrope!" Demantoid added while hugging Pyrope in fear before the Light Warriors charged, attacking the pair and poofing them once and for all.

As for Emerald, she was now getting ganged up on by Lars, Connie, and the Off-Colors, who all took turns using Connie's sword against her. "You're all just humans and Off-Color Gems!" Emerald screamed as she desperately tried to fight back. "What makes you think you all can stop me?!"

"'Cause we're all more walk than talk!" Lars declared, once again using his musti-yuddha skills to knock Emerald to the ground. "Connie, care to do the honors?"

"With pleasure!" Connie replied, hopping up on Fluorite's head and jumping high into the air before zooming down with her sword pointed directly at Emerald.

"I hate you all." Emerald snarled bitterly before Connie poofed her, ending the threat she possessed to Lars and the Off-Colors.

High up in the air, the battle of the Lapides raged on with 1J9G using vapor from the clouds as makeshift weapons against her former friends.

"We could've stayed together if 3E8C hadn't been dropped on Earth like an idiot!" 1J9G yelled. "I just wanted us to stay friends!"

"Well, if you want to keep your friends," 3E8C stated, forming a massive water hand from a nearby cloud. "then you should act like a friend." The hand grabbed 1J9G and tossed her to the ground, creating a massive crater that caused a building to start falling over, and one piece of sharp rubble was aimed straight at 1J9G's gem.

"So this is it, huh?" 1J9G monologued to herself as death was mere moments away. "I feel like this is karma for being a horrible friend like they keep calling me. In that case, I'm sorry. Maybe somewhere else, we could've stayed together."

As 1J9G accepted her demise, the rubble was punched out of the way by a massive silhouette in the dust, and it settled to reveal Jasper as her savior.

"Get up you!" Jasper roared at the Lapis.

"But, we're on different sides!" 1J9G exclaimed. "Why did you save me?"

"It's what a certain someone would've done, but he's too busy at the moment." Jasper replied. "Plus, I know what it's like to be alone too."

"Oh look, that Jasper is becoming just like you!" Black Rutile yelled as she watched her alliance break up. "But then again, they set themselves up for this the moment I recruited them all, so what are you gonna do?"

"But still, we're fighting a losing battle!" White Topaz advised her Rutile. "What do we do now?"

"I think I know." Black Rutile smirked before snapping her fingers at one of her surviving allies. "Aquamarine, grab the boy and take him to the nearest mountain!"

"I thought you'd never ask!" Aquamarine purred before she grabbed Steven with her wand and began flying off, with Eyeball also in tow, and Black Rutile & White Topaz on a mini-hovercraft. "Oh, where will you be without your precious little abomination?!"

"Steven!" the Crystal Gems all yelled.

"Topaz, subdue the Lapises!" Black Rutile then commanded White Topaz, who gave a shaky nod before leaping up and grabbing Lapis & Zuli, followed by pinning them to the ground.

"Don't worry guys, I got this!" Connie said before mounting on Lion and riding off after Aquamarine.

"The only one who should defeat him is me." Jasper said as Connie fled, right before following the human. "Wait up girl!"

At the mountain, Steven was dropped by Aquamarine at the highest cliff, where Black Rutile stood by with a boulder next to her and White Topaz.

"What do you want now Black Rutile?" Steven asked as he got up to face the evil Rutile.

"Simple, toss you over the edge and throw a boulder to crush you to death, since you can fly apparently." Black Rutile declared. "I've been waiting for ages to destroy Pink Diamond, and you, my little friend, are just the thing to satisfy my vendetta."

"But why do you hate Pink so much?" Steven exclaimed. "Let me guess, she treated you like trash just like almost every other Gem I've faced?"

"No, she didn't treat me like trash!" Black Rutile answered. "She treated everyone around her like trash, yet the Diamonds almost always let her get away with everything! And here you are forcing Gems against their will to change their very way of living! Hey, at least you didn't fake your death to recklessly endanger the lives of others, because I'm going to endanger yours!"

Black Rutile then picked up Steven by his shirt collar and walked to the edge of the cliff, where she dangled him over such dangerously high heights. "You know what's ironic?" she smiled cheerfully before it turned to a hateful scowl. "You're able to get humans and Gems to get along, yet you're neither of them yourself."

With that, Black Rutile released her grip on Steven's shirt and he began falling from the cliff, followed shortly by White Topaz tossing a boulder that fell right above him. "NO HARD FEELINGS!" she yelled.

"So this is how I'll die, falling to my death off a cliff while a boulder is going to crush me." Steven realized as he fell to his doom. "Maybe Black Rutile's right. Maybe this is punishment for only thinking of myself all the time, and never taking others' feelings into account. Punishment for letting all these enemies run free instead of punishing them. Punishment for being an awful person in general."

However, just as Steven shut his eyes, accepted his demise, and did not even use any of his powers to escape, a voice cried out to him. "STEVEN!"

"Connie?" Steven exclaimed as she warped in via Lion's portal and reach out to him. "Don't worry, I'm with you till the end of the line! Just grab my hand!"

Steven gave a big smile, realizing that even with all his faults there were still people looking out for him, and took Connie's hand, causing the two to merge into a mass of light.

"Well, that should take care of him." Black Rutile declared, dusting off her hands and beginning to walk away. "Come along you three, let's go reawaken the Cluster and wipe this planet off the face of this universe for good."

"Uh, my Rutile?" White Topaz said while she, Aquamarine, and Eyeball gazed over the edge of the cliff to discover a pink light rapidly approaching them. "I think Steven is….not dead."

"Wait, seriously?!" Black Rutile yelled before Stevonnie leaped up the mountain and onto the cliff where the four enemy Gems stood. "You fused with a human?!"

"Bet you didn't see that coming!" Stevonnie declared as they swung their sword to try and poof Aquamarine, but she swiftly dodged and fused with Eyeball to form Bluebird Azurite.

"Of course I knew you can fuse with humans kid, it was in my data!" Black Rutile exclaimed before turning to White Topaz staring in amazement at the fusion. "Topaz, fuse with me!"

"Wait, we get to fuse too?!" White Topaz giddily exclaimed. "Eee, I can't wait, we've been practicing for so long!"

"Just shut up already." Black Rutile snarled before extending her hand. "Now, may I have this dance?"

"Gladly." White Topaz responded, taking her superior's hand before they began dancing the tango, their gems glowing as they danced until they formed into a giant light that resulted in a new, much larger fusion with four eyes & arms, spiky hair that went down to her back, a black-and-grey uniform and Black Rutile's white cape.

"BEHOLD FOOLISH LESSER BEINGS!" the new fusion bombastically declared. "THE GODLIKE SUPERIORITY OF THE MIGHTY LEPIDOLITE!"

"One fusion against two fusions." Stevonnie muttered. "Have to admit, those aren't very good odds."

"You bet." Jasper declared, zooming up the mountain to stand by Stevonnie's side and pounding her fists together. "For them!"

"You followed us?" Stevonnie asked Jasper.

"I don't like the Crystal Gems, but I hate them just as much." Jasper explained roughly. "Now come on, let's finish this!"

"Oh, a fair game, I see!" Lepidolite asked as she summoned two pairs of claws on each pair of her hands that extended from her knuckles while Bluebird summoned her ice cutlass. "Well, game on!"

Lepidolite clashed her claws with Stevonnie's sword while Jasper grabbed Bluebird in her massive hand and smashed her face into the rock face. However, despite Lepidolite being surprisingly evenly matched with Stevonnie, there was one thing they had that she lacked. Control over the fusion itself.

"So you can fuse with humans?!" White Topaz exclaimed cheerfully while Lepidolite slashed at Stevonnie before she switched to Black Rutile. "Did you even listen to Aquamarine's report, why are you acting like this is so new to you?!" Black Rutile yelled. "Why do you always have to be so dense?!"

"This is almost like Malachite." Stevonnie compared the abusive control Black Rutile had over White Topaz to the strained but peaceful relationship between Lapis and Jasper. "Listen, why can't you just work together?!"

"Because she's a completely moronic clod!" Black Rutile yelled through Lepidolite.

"Even if she treats me like trash, she's still my boss!" White Topaz added. "After all, isn't that what master/servant relationships are kinda like?"

"Master, don't!" Bluebird yelled as Jasper kept beating her up. "You're going to make them do some speech about the stupid power of friendship or something!"

"Well, you want us to work together?!" Lepidolite said, now no longer personified through Black Rutile and White Topaz's arguing. "Then work together we shall!"

Lepidolite then grabbed Stevonnie by their arms and once again threw them over the edge of the cliff before walking off to assist Bluebird. But just like when Steven was tossed over the cliff, things went horribly wrong for them.

Stevonnie reappeared in a massive gust of wind, now bathed in a pink glow and with a furious snarl replacing their confident grin. "Why won't you listen?!" they yelled, lunging at Lepidolite and striking their sword straight into her chest. "I'm not the real monster, YOU ARE!"

"No no no no no no!" Lepidolite screamed as Stevonnie's sword cut into her body and striking her straight in Black Rutile's gem, causing the two to ultimately defuse. As the pair of Gems were dropped to the ground, White Topaz laid on her back, utterly stupefied. Black Rutile on the other hand was terrified beyond all recognition, a far cry from the confident mastermind she normally is.

"W-w-who are you!?" Black Rutile shivered in fear of the pink Stevonnie, who now had a psychotic smile on their face. "WHAT ARE YOU?!"

"I'm-" Stevonnie began when they suddenly stopped and gazed at their hands. "I don't know." With that, Stevonnie finally un-fused back into Steven and Connie, just in time for the other Gems to arrive.

"Steven, Connie!" Garnet cried as she, Amethyst, Pearl, Peridot, Bismuth, Hessonite, Lars, Squaridot, and the Light Prisms were carried up the mountain by a massive water elevator created by the trio of Lapides. When they reached the cliff, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl all rushed to give the two kids a big hug. "What happened?"

"I don't know." Connie replied shakily. "First we fused into Stevonnie to fight Black Rutile, who fused with White Topaz to create this big fusion called Lepidolite, then after we were tossed over a cliff, Stevonnie turned pink and-"

"Wait, pink?" Pearl wondered. "It's just like all those other times Steven lost control! What could it be?"

"That's exactly what I'd like to know too!" the utterly defeated Black Rutile yelled. "What is that, a human thing?"

"Uh, no everyone! Everything's fine!" Steven began lying. "It's just a human thing, but I'm the only one who can do it!"

"Alright, keep your secrets brat." Black Rutile declared before she snapped her fingers again. Getting up from Jasper's beatdown, Bluebird picked up Black Rutile & White Topaz and carried them away. "Your little power fantasy will soon come to an end!" she declared. "And Gems, I'd keep an eye out on that monster if I were you! He could become a bigger threat to Earth than I am!"

As the three Gems got farther away, everybody turned to Steven with nervous looks on their faces.

"Steven, is there anything you need to tell us?" Connie asked her best friend.

"Uh, anyone wanna go out for pizzas?" Steven tried to change the subject, and everyone went silent in response.

"What is this pizza you speak of?" Hessonite piped up.

Later that day, reconstruction of Little Homeworld had quickly begun. With Peridot and Squaridot's help, the Cactus Stevens were now fully organic once more and helped in the repairs, alongside the Light creatures created by George and his sisters.

"Wow George, you, Elaine, and Cosma are one great team!" Steven said to George as they looked upon the Light Army's hard work. George turned to Steven with a confused look on his face. "Oh, I came up with those names for your sisters based on this TV show with a character also named George."

"Hey Steven, the pizzas are here!" Lapis called for Steven.

"Ooh, gotta go you guys!" Steven said before leaving George and his newly named sisters to work. "See you again soon!"

Steven returned to the Little Homeworld Warp Pad, where the Crystal Gems and the Off-Colors were setting up a little picnic with pizza boxes all around. "You see, this is what we need more of." Steven said. "Just us hanging out, no Gem monsters or evil Gems threatening and scarring our lives."

"Are you sure you're okay kid?" 1J9G asked Steven.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Steven replied. "Wait, what are you doing here? Weren't you on Black Rutile's side?"

"That Jasper saved my life because she knew what it was like to be alone, so I'm coming here as gratitude." 1J9G stated. "I came with Black Rutile as 1J9G, and I'll learn to become a better friend as Laz. You like the new name I got?"

"I love it!" Zuli exclaimed happily. "It's so wet!"

"Well, if you say so." Steven said awkwardly before he found Lars and Hessonite collecting the inactive gemstones of Emerald, Pyrope, Demantoid and all the Cluster Gems. "And what are you going to do with those?"

"We'll take the Cluster Gems back to Homeworld." Lars answered before pointing to Emerald and the Garnets. "As for these three, I'm not sure yet."

"They'll be safe with us." Garnet said, taking the three Gems out of the bubble. "And who knows? Maybe they'll become students of Little Homeschool."

"Speaking of which, Squaridot." Hessonite said to her Peridot sidekick. "You said that you were given the chance to come to Little Homeschool before you joined me? You think the offer still stands?"

"You know what?" Squaridot said. "I think I'm gonna stay here. Thank you Hessonite for everything." She then hugged the orange Garnet. "And tell Citrine I said hi if you find her."

As the group all sat down to their victory picnic, many eyes were still on Steven, who paid more attention to his slice of pie.

"Seriously, that boy just ain't right!" Jasper said as she prepared to leave.

"Yo Jasper, have a little more tact!" Amethyst scolded her fellow quartz while turning to Steven. "But what if Black Rutile is right? What if Steven becomes a threat to Earth?"

Steven still didn't pay any attention and kept on eating, but the Gems guessed that he might've been deliberately distracting himself. But why?

Elsewhere, Black Rutile had now touched down deeper in the forest, letting Bluebird Azurite drop her off in front of a cave. "Ah, this should make a good hideout."

"Why can't we just flee on your dropship?" White Topaz asked.

"I'm pretty sure it's been seized by now." Black Rutile said as she sat down on a rock formation, slouching and pressing her fingers together. "Tell me, my friends, what do you think is Steven's greatest weakness?"

"He can't fend for himself!" Aquamarine stated as she and Eyeball un-fused.

"He always has to get his nose in everyone's business." Eyeball remarked, rolling her eye with arms crossed.

"Uh, he's got boatloads of trauma that no one bothers to bring up?" White Topaz asked meekly.

"Correct Topaz, very good for once." Black Rutile congratulated her Topaz. "Now, as you see, he can't deal with his whole worldview changing, since learning there were so many Gems against him shattered everything he almost knew about his actions." She declared. "But what if we did the same, but we turn the humans against him?"

And that was Enemy of my Enemy and Part 2 in general! This was a really long one, filled with ideas that I've had in my head for ages! The whole group of past enemy Gems was inspired primarily by the Evil League of Mutants from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I imagined the bad future to be similar to Deliver Us from Prince of Egypt, and the justice debate was basically the Ship of Theseus scene from WandaVision. And that's not even getting into what I have planned for Part 3, but that's another time for another day. And if the subtitle is any indication, you all know what's coming.

What Steven Universe Gem would they be and which Diamond would they belong to

For a lovable anon. Hi everyone, I am still alive, yes I wrote a list. It’s quarantine, Steven Universe is over, this has waited in the queue for how long, two years? Three years? Something like that. I got dropped out of college (attending to it was the main reason I stopped writing the lists, I just didn’t have time), now there is Covid-19 running rampage through my country, and I don’t know how about your government, but ours isn’t handling well. Anyway, here is a list. Quickly for people who are still reading but aren’t all that familiar with Steven Universe: Gems are sentient science-magical gemstones with a humanoid form, through the original series they are ruled by Thre or four Diamonds, and each kind of a Gem (like Pearls, Sapphires etc.) are archetypes and fill role within their society. What Gems would WoW leaders be?

Anduin: Pink Diamond. He is in charge of the Aliance, he is compassionate, he is “the kid”, he has the power of healing.

Varain: Allow me to make my own Warcraft-Gem lore and propose the existence of Red Diamond: a millitary compassionate materialistic ruler, who was in charge of the Defense of the Homeworld and got shattered. Pink Diamond was then created later from the remnants of him.

The Council of Three Hammers:

Muradin: Bismuth, since he is a builder, assigned to Yellow Diamond. Moira: Rose Quartz of the Pink Diamond, for her healing powers. Falstad: Yellow Diamond’s Lapis Lazuli. Blue tattoos, and flying.

Tyrande: Blue Diamond’s Agate, as Agates seem to be something like priest-warriors.

Mekkatorque: Peridot of Blue Diamond’s court. One of the old Peridots who didn’t need limb enhancers, I suppose.

Velen: Obviously Velen is a Sapphire. I would even say he’d be a White Sapphire in the service of the White Diamond.

Genn: Cymophane of the Yellow Diamond. Cymophane because it shifts colours just like Genn shift’s forms.

Aysa: Pink Diamond’s Zircon. Zircon’s are meant to be the smart ones who deal with logic.

Alleria: White Diamond’s Emerald. Emeralds are hunters.

Turalyon: Alleria’s Pearl. Let’s face it, that’s what he’s there for: He is Alleria’s moral support and supposed to look pretty in places, provide the occassional illumination and entertainment.

Jaina: Aquamarine of the Pink Diamond. As a Kul’Tiran she’s gotta be something with “marine” in the name. Also Aquimarine as seen on the show was kinda magic.

Thrall: Fluorite (Pearl-Agate fusion) serving the Blue Diamond. Hopefully nobody finds out about the fusion bit....

Vol’jin: Malachite of the Blue Diamond. Painly he is poisonous, usually he stands around unless told to do something else.

Garrosh: Ruby, transferred back and forth between White and Yellow Diamond as a present. It was kinda pissing him off until he got shattered.

Baine: Amethyst of the Blue Diamond. Thinky and emotional puncher.

Sylvanas: Originally an Emerald do the White Diamond, got shattered, glued back together by some misfortune of corruption, and now she is back in the system doing... Something?

Lor'themar: Yellow Diamond’s Jasper. He is meant to punch stuff. He is for some reason overseeing a colony.

Gallywix: White Diamond’s Morganite, responsible for transportation and economy. Probably.

Ji: White Diamond’s Topaz. In fact he is four Topazes in a fusion. Strong and punchy.

Thalyssra: Moonstone, because it seems somewhere between Aquamarine’s magic and Pearl’s grace.

Mayla: White Diamond’s Opal, because Opal to me seems a lot like Agate but more spiritulal.

Geya’rah: Yellow’s Diamond (formerly Red’s) Hessonite. Fighty fighter.

Talanji: Blue Diamond’s Jade - soft and noble, bud decisive.

Taedal: Glass, claims he is owned by no one. First, it screams OC. Second, glass means he can be whatever he is needed to be, I suppose..

Time to get Controversial: Fusions (Part 3)

The final part of this post series, I was holding off until after “Little Graduation” and “Prickly Pair” in case they introduced a new fusion.  I’ll probably combine them into a single long-ass post at some point.

Upper-Tier

9. Smoky Quartz

I feel like Smoky Quartz is one of the most underrated Crystal Gems fusions, yet they consistently kick ass whenever they’re formed.  In their very first appearance, they both whooped Jasper and then Zebra Jasper without even touching her.  Also, has anyone else noticed that they’re the only nearly “perfect” cross-Gem fusion (two arms, two legs, and two eyes like you’d find in a singular Gem)?  They’re almost as uniform as Garnet.  Makes you think, huh?

8. Steg

Back to the subject of fusions we’ll probably never see again, Steg was one of the most unexpected parts of Steven Universe: The Movie.  They only existed for one song, but it was a pretty damn good song.  Not only that, but they also brought Opal back and got her to sing too, also for probably the only time in the rest of the series.

7. Sardonyx

Of all the Crystal Gems fusions, Sardonyx probably has the most unique personality.  Her first appearance also resulted in important character development and growth between Ruby, Sapphire, Garnet (by extension), and Pearl.  So it’s really a shame that her last appearance (Snow Day doesn’t count) was for nothing more than a glorified clip show.  You know I’m right.

6. Mega Pearl

Everything that was boring about identical Gem fusions (looking at you, Rubies and Topaz) is completely thrown out the window with this majestic Pearl.  “Volleyball” was a fantastic episode and one of my favorites from SUF so far, but I’m not going into full details about it.  You can probably find way better reviews on here.  To be honest though, I’m a little disappointed that Mega Pearl’s “birth” was basically a remake of Sardonyx’s second appearance.  Not only that, but after “Volleyball,” Pink Pearl apparently disappeared into the same void Bismuth has been stuck in for the entire season.  Hopefully she returns next time, because the closing shot of her and Pearl on the beach was adorable.

5. Alexandrite

Alexandrite’s been pretty underappreciated despite being an early fusion.  She’s probably the most reliable fusion for a fight, which is why she’s shown up so often.  Not the best for a dinner party though.

4. Rainbow Quartz 2.0

Rainbow Quartz 2.0 is an improvement in basically every way over the Rose/Pearl fusion.  They’re fun to watch, charming, and only 20% likely to receive a cease and desist letter from Disney over Mary Poppins infringement.  Plus they gave us the first song of the new series.  It’s too bad their first major appearance (after their introduction in “Change Your Mind”) was pretty much a joke of an episode.  Hopefully they’ll appear again sometime in the show.

God-Tier

3. Opal

Garnet may have technically been the first fusion, but Opal is the one that first introduced that concept to the show and viewers.  She’s got a pretty special place in the series because of that, so it’s pretty crazy it took five and years (seriously, look it up) for her to get an actual song.  Maybe she’ll get another later in SUF?  Probably not.

 2. Stevonnie

I find it interesting how many fans act like Shep is the first non-binary ever introduced in Steven Universe when Stevonnie has been around since season one.  They’re also the first (and only I think, though I could be mistaken) canon intersex character in the show.  There’s a reason that Stevonnie has the second-highest number of appearances in the show for a fusion though, and it’s because of how great the character is.  Kinda concerned about if we’ll ever see Stevonnie again in SUF though, especially since Connie only had a 5-second appearance.  If you really think it’s just because of college prep you’re lying to yourself

First and Last of her Kind Ch 3 Escaping the Garden

Spinel quickly hid behind a half crumbled pillar, she didn’t under and but something inside her didn’t want to be seen like this. All dirty and unkept. Something about this didn’t bode well for the small pink gem. Spinel kept quiet as she listened to the two gems speak.

“So we’re here for a spinel?” One of the topazes asked..

The other nodded.

“Yeah it was said that Pink Diamond had a special gem made just for her in this garden.”

The Amethyst spoke up.

“Really? I thought those were just silly rumors told by the aquamarines.” The purple gem said.

The first topaz shook her head.

“No it’s true, the diamonds made a special gem made with the most specific ingredients for her.” They replied.

“Sounds pretty neat.” The amethyst said.

“Yes, she's also said to be a rare gem too, the only spinel ever to be crested.” The second topaz said.

“Seriously and she lives in this dump?” The amethyst guard said gesturing to the dead garden,.

Spinel winced at the mention of how deplorable the garden was, yet the small gem was finding herself to be blushing a soft red hue at the assumption that she was rare.

She wasn’t that rare? Was she?

Spinel listened closely to what the three gems were saying.

“Rumor has it that this gem has remained in this garden for all her existence.” The first topaz said.

Okay that was both true and not true. Spinel has been out in Homeworld….well sorta. It was one time…..and it wasn’t that long….but still she had been out of the garden.

“Kinda sad that she was left all alone and kept in this dark about what happened to her diamond.” The amethyst said cal,lay.

Spinel swallowed a painful lump in her throat, were they mentioning of her giving up her form and leaving Spinel on her own account while she live a whole other life and made friends on her own without her. Spinel swallowed hard, she didn’t want to think about that right now and no she wasn’t in the dark. At least not anymore.

“Well we need to find her, Pink Diamond’s son wants to see her. Something about getting her old belongings and things since he’s the new pink diamond now.” The amethyst said.

Spinel stood there frozen. She would belong to him.

Steven Universe.

Spinel froze, body going rigid and felt her breaths being caught in her throat. Her mind went blank for a second and once it rebooted she shook and trembled as few gripped her form. No. She didn’t want to go with him, she did not want to be with the new pink diamond. Spinel shuttered and the small pink gem watched with scared Cotton candy pink eyes as the three gems began spreading out looking for her. Spinel needed to leave, she couldn’t stay here. Maybe she could hide and wait it out.

Spinel gasped as one of the gems were getting closer to where she was. What was Pink Diamond’s son going to do to her when he got his hands on her? Spinel trembled, not wanting to think about it let alone went to find out. The small gem could hear those nasty voices in her head saying terrible things about her and her unfortunate situation.

‘When they do find you your as good as shattered.’ ‘That diamond won’t want a broken toy like you.’ ‘If you couldn’t keep your diamond happy what makes you think you can keep the new pink diamond happy?’ Her mind hissed.

Spinel shook, she needed to leave. Could she really leave though this was her garden this was once her home. However did she really want to stay here in the dark and rotting garden all alone to waste away. Did he really want that? To remain in the dark colorless garden with nothing but her awful thoughts that could consume her? Spinel whimpered sniffing softly, remembering now only the bad times she had here it was getting so hard to see the good times as her most terrible and darkest days were spent in this garden. No, she didn’t want to stay here anymore the awful rotting smell the horrible darkness and the feelings of loneliness and despair radiated off of this place. This place was far too gone and now the memories were tainted and ruined by the one person she thought loved her.

Did Pink even care about their friendship? Did she ever care about Spinel at all? That would explain the terrible abuse she got when Pink was in one of her moods. The hair pulling the verbal and cruel words and the beatings. Sweet stars the painful beatings she would get when her diamond was angry with her. Painful blue and purple bruises would litter her small body and she would be limping for a couple of days. But Pink did that only because she loved her. That’s what she said. What had she done to deserve this though? The tiny pink gem peeled out of her hiding spot and stared at the gems who were looking for her. Luckily they were too far away to see her.

However the young gem’s eyes wandered over to the warp pad as it went off and someone else appeared standing tall and strong. They worse a long pink cloak that draped against the ground and the tiny pink gem knew that gems of high estate wore capes; her diamond had told her that when she saw a jasper wearing one. Spinel could barely make out their fave as it was covered partially by the cloak that they were wearing. The small pink gem stared out and it didn’t take long for her to realize from the embroidery and embellishments on the cloak that the individual was a high ranking gem. That’s when she spotted the three gems stopping what they were doing and did the salute….oh sweet merciful stars that was-

“My diamond.” The three gems said in union.

The cloaked diamond lifted his hands dismissing them and stared at them.

“Where is flaucet cut 001 AA?” He said in a rather calm yet form voice.

“My diamond we are still looking for her.” The amethyst said bowing to the higher authority diamond.

The cloaked diamond seemed unhappy but this.

“This garden isn’t that big, you couldn’t have possibly lost her.” He stated firmly.

“Yes my diamond, we’ll keep searching for her..” One of the topazes said.

“See to it that you do.” The cloaked diamond stayed coldly.

The diamond stood there watching as the three gems hurried to find the pink gem and Spinelmshook and shuttered. What was he going to do to her when he found her? Spinel trembled she needed to- Oh ho. He was beginning to walk around and joined in on the search for the supposed “missing gem.” It would only be a matter of time before they eventually find her. Spinel sucked in a breath and stepped out from where she was hiding once he had turned away from where she was hiding. The small pink gem took the opportunity to run and hide in a different area of the garden, Spinel used her elasticity to her advantage and proceeded to hide behind one of the dying trees of the garden.. . The small gem looked at the tree the leaves had long gone and died and the bark of the red was peeling away easily like dead skin.

The small gem could see that all the gems were spreading out looking for her but that was fine side she was close to the huge staircase near the warp pad. In all her existence Spinel had never thought that she would leave the garden, this had once become her home her paradise where she and her diamond could play for hours on end it had been the first place she had ever seen when she emerged but now, now it was nothing more than her personal hell . A painful reminder that Pink Diamond, someone who she dearly loved, had left her...had abandoned her. Left her to rot for six thousand years. Spinel could feel tears burn and swell in her eyes, had she truly been a horrible best friend to deserve such a cruel fate? Or maybe she was just unworthy of love and affection.

Spinel sniffed pitifully and gasped when she saw the cloaked diamond snap his head and turned to her direction, but as quick as a bullet Spinel retracted back into her hiding spot. She could practically hear her own heartbeat ringing in gin her non existent ears. Spinel watched as the amethyst guard called for her diamond.

“My diamond it seems the gem you might be looking for might still in fact be here.” The purple gem informed.

“How so?” Came a calm toned voice.

Spinel watched as the amethyst paused for a moment but cleared her throat to continue speaking.

“Well my diamond based on some of the evidence over here by the vines being ripped I’d say she moved recently from this spot. The footprints indicated that she might have moved somewhere over ther, the amethyst said.

Spinel didn’t waste any time as she quickly ran out of her spot where she was hidden and ran straight towards the pink stairs that lead to the warppad. However the universe wasn’t on her side of the moment and the small gem stepped on a dead twig lying in the ground. The snapping sound the dead wood had caused immediately gave away her location. Spinel froze and saw the three gems and diamond all state at her from afar. They all just stared and everything felt so cold and tense. Spinel at this point didn’t like the pairs of eyes that were on her now yet she enjoyed it when she was entertaining her diamond but now it just felt wrong.

The small pink gem felt her breath hitch and quickly bolted up the stunts she didn’t even stop when she hewed the amethyst shout.

“Hey!”

The pink gem didn’t stop, didn’t turn around, she no longer wished to stay in the rotting garden. It was driving her mad. The garden was no longer friendly and welcoming like it once was. There was only a disturbing dark energy lingering and embedding itself in the soils. It was now colorless and dying sending chills down anyone who dare venture alone in its dark depths. Spinel could hear the heavy footsteps of the topaz guards coming after her and his only furthered the small gem to run faster and when she finally reached the warp pad Spinel turned around to see that the cloaked diamond .had jumped into the air and was now flying towards her at such a speed. She could see his bright pink diamond eyes and she did not like it one bit. They looked…...looked way too much like her own diamond’s eyes. It unsettled Spinel. She felt her body go cold when she saw them and felt herself unable to move but luck have it that she snapped out of her daze and helped in fear as but before he could manage to catch her the warp pad activated and the small pink gem was swallowed up by a bright blue light before being sent to a completely different part of Homeworld.

I had a dream about Hades having a major update

I just had a day dream and I've got this dream where Hades had a lot of changes, and I want to write about it before I'll forget So the training room has gotten really large, there are new weapons added but Skelly is gone for some reason In the middle of the upper left end, there is like a daily present thing that looks person-sized, it was the first thing that was shown to me And 6 weapons surrounded it on each side, while on the down end there are still more weapons. One of those weapons was a huge double-edged ax that looked like a square on a stick The first one, the default Zagreus one, had red but mostly had a topaz-like color. The second one was all silver and looked like a big razor The third one was all red, the middle of the square blade had orange diagonal paraklel stripes, and dangling from the down end were 10 feathers The attacks were that you could hit hard but strike slower than the other weapons, because if it's size. And the special attack was a continuous spin that was mid-slow and you had extremely little control of where it moved. The second new weapon I remembered was right at the end, where at the down left corner there was the shield and sword of Steven Universe. Lol, imagine calling out his name before the Hades fight. And when Zag was about to get the Ax weapon I openly said that I hoped there was a sythe. There were also new trading items, the items that replaced buying the weapons were. I think it was candy, scones. They had a big, round, and light green thing at the center while it was circularly surrounded by dough. There were also two new gods, both of them were moon gods but with different genders. The first one, the male one, had a remakrable chin and stared at me very seriously. His chin and jawline looked like Boldir's from Friendsim but exaggerated and it would be the first thing you'd notice off of him. The second one was a woman who had a laughing mask on like a Harlequin Idk what they were talking about, but the first one either admired my actions or told me to take things more serious. Something like that. So then he goes out of the chamber, out of his room and there was one new character that was also a talking head like Dusa, but not a Gorgon, but a skeleton head. She was pitch black, had long and triangular eyes, she looked mad, and had big, squared, unedged teeth down there but no jaw. She was called a Chaos Elemental. And said something about having the desire to see the daylight being related to the concept of Chaos. Some philosophical stuff. After I've read that name I've hoped there was an order equivalent and that the Chaos Elemental woman was engaged with an Order Elemental guy (There weren't and she wasn't, at least that wasn't shown). I think if I had imagined that, Zagreus would be very confused about how two exact opposites could happily be engaged with each other and that they would explain that it is kinda like a Ying-Yang thing. And that's all I can remember.

I was just screwing around and I remembered the convo we had about angels and their true forms and I was like oooooOOOOOOOO I should make what I think Alix’s true form would look like (or technically Ariel I guess). So yeah, that’s this. And I took most insporation from the idea of angels having topaz like skin. So boom. Here you go. Kinda looks like she would be a character in Steven Universe but just- ignore that cuz that’s not what I was trying to do 💀 I was more of going for celestial and human-ish, yet not human at the same time. Also of course I had to pull out the toga dress, which was inspired by this one SPN comic series that showed what the angels childhoods were like in heaven. It was mostly just sibling stuff, very wholesome. Also I’m not sure how I feel about the eyes sooooooooooo those may be temporary, I dunno.

Why a Aquamarine x Eyeball fusion makes perfect sense

Ok so basically, after rewatching every episode including Eyeball, Navy and Aquamarine (yes, all 6 of them, heavy task I know) here why I think Aquamarine and Eyeball are perfect for each other.

Even if at first Aqua and Navy seem more natural since they’re both deceptive gremlins, that’s really where their compatibility stops. Even that is up for debate since Navy’s vengeance was totally justified (Steven left her floating for MONTHS, probably most of the time too far from the rest of her crew to even talk to anyone), while Aquamarine just had fun messing with peoples. 

On the other hand, Eyeball showed multiple through her episodes that she was lounging for someone. Her constant obsession with Jasper comes first to mind, but there’s also how sad she looked when she saw ruby and sapphire flirting and how happy she was to the idea of having a Pearl, someone to be around her and caring for her all the time.

And then we have Aquamarine: A gem who is used to be the best at her job and told one good day that she isn’t needed anymore, that she can do anything she wants and gets thrown off from “being the best” to not knowing how to do anything else but a job she is just not allowed to do anymore at all. Who probably gets cut off by Topaz (with reason, Aqua was awful to her), the only person she seemed to kinda enjoy in some twisted way. A gem who sees fusion as a weakness like Jasper used to. 

I feel like because of that, the idea of fusion will come from neither of them, but they’ll be told to do it by someone else (maybe Jasper?) and just do it, as Eyeball is still obsessed with Jasper and Aquamarine just wants to feel competent again. Aquamarine’s line “thats the problem with you fusions sooner or later you become sentimental” seems like another great foreshadowing from Rebecca Sugar in this new situation, and will probably bite her in the ass in a good way. Aquamarine and Eyeball can explore what being loved for who they are is, and it benefits both of them in different ways. 

Those two would also be a great way for Rebecca Sugar to explore a healthy antagonistic fusion, without redeeming it, in a good “we really love each other, but we also kinda hate u” fashion. An antagonist who’s doesn’t turn good, but still has good in them. 

I really like the idea that they could just go “oh actually loving each other is good enough” and give up on their pettiness once they realise they are happy that way and that the other love them. There’s a lot that could be done with those two and I trust Rebecca Sugar to do something great with them.

I almost entirely created this blog just so i could rant about this, so if anyone is interested to talk about this fusion/aquamarine please do, i’m fresh out of the bungou stray dogs fandom where all my friends dk steven universe, so I’d love to have someone to fangirl with haha

Hi Tumblr world. I haven't been here in quite some time but I just needed to post this somewhere.

STEVEN UNIVERSE: A THEORY

I've seen so much debate over this show and the 'Rose is actually Pink' story line and I just, well, these are my thoughts of where things started and how it got to that point. Warning: this is hella long.

So, imagine this.

White Diamond is the very first gem-being. She was made on Homeworld and just kinda happened. For hundreds of years she was there, alone. Over that time, she discovered how to create other gems. She made Sapphires, Rubys, Peridots, etc. All these gems were made for a purpose. They had a reason and a duty. White, being the creator and most powerful, becomes their queen. She expects all her gems to be perfect, like her, as diamonds are to be perfect. To fulfill their designed purposes. And they are, mostly. Occasionally, one doesn't come out just right but White let's it be for now. She assumes the imperfect gems will eventually fall off into the unknown while the others continue their duties making the planet a comfortable home for White.

The millenia pass and White grows unhappy, again. She's no longer alone but all these gems, they're not quite like her. She notices how the Rubys have each other, the Sapphires have each other, etc. White wants that. So, she decides to try to make more diamonds. More White Diamonds. But, diamonds are tricky. They require exact circumstances. If the conditions are off just a bit you get blemishes, scars, different colors. White tried for ages to make another perfect White Diamond. There were so many failures. But, diamond can cut diamond. So she shattered them and kept starting again. Eventually, she got Yellow and Blue. They weren't white like her, but they were not blemished. No scars. No marks. Perfect in all aspects except for their color. And White decides that that's ok by her. She sort of enjoys the colors. So Yellow and Blue become her sisters. Together, the three rule over Homeworld and all the other, lower, less powerful gems.

As more years pass, Homeworld loses its resources. They can't keep making more gems without the ingredients. And so the dawn of space travel among the gems begins. They begin to colonize other planets. They create so many other gem types they never knew were possible. Quartzes, Aquamarines, Topazes, and more. All designed for specific purposes.

Yellow really enjoys this work. Blue was never much into it. She preferred to stay on Homeworld with her subjects. Using them for entertainment and advancing their scientific abilities. White left the colonizing to Yellow after a while because she grew bored of it, as she does many things.

Yellow continues to colonize planet after planet. By this point, White is starting to grow distant. Yellow can tell so she keeps colonizing, trying to be perfect for White. Show her what a diamond is made of. It's during this time that Yellow discovers a planet covered entirely by water. She creates these awesome, water based gems (idk what, I'm not a gem-ologist). It is here that she creates her first Pearl. She designs Pearl to be a companion. A loyalist. A servant. Someone who will give her the praise and attention she so desperately craves from White.

Yellow comes back to Homeworld to show off her new Pearl. White doesn't take much interest but Blue and other high ranking gems do. They want a Pearl of their own. Yellow makes them their Pearls but is upset by White's lack of interest. And so, she continues to do what she does best, colonize and create.

Back on Homeworld, White is creating, too. With Yellow off colonizing planets and Blue taking care of the gems, White is lonely once more. She decides to create another diamond. This time, all her past work has allowed her to create exactly what she wanted. A small, but still perfectly formed, Pink Diamond. A diamond that would be less powerful. More childlike. Dependent. One who needed White and wouldn't abandon her. And thus, Pink Diamond is created.

Yellow and Blue are also immediately drawn to her. She was the cutest. Playful. Their baby sister. White's child. Although Yellow had occasional bouts of jealousy because of the relationship between Pink and White, it was never too serious. They were a family. They played and laughed and loved. Eventually, business had to start going back to normal. Yellow back to colonizing. Blue back to running the queendom. And White doting on her perfect Pink Diamond. She never needed a Pearl. It was her diamond she wanted. Her perfect, little, pink replica of herself.

White gave Pink anything she wanted. All the rooms she wanted. Massive balls and parties. Beautiful stone gardens. Even custom built playmates. A pink Spinnel to joke and laugh with. And a bright pink Pearl, courtesy of Yellow

Pink begins to "growup". Not in a physical sense, of course. But in her mind. She sees Yellow and Blue doing their thing and Pink wants that, too. She wants her own planet to colonize. Her own gems. Her own space. Like the child she is, she throws tantrums to get what she wants.

One of these tantrums resulted in breaking her precious Pearl. White, the ever obsessed with perfection mother, "fixes" her Pearl. This is the first time White used her power to it's full extent. She could always sort of control the gems. Get into their minds and make them do simple things. But not quite like this. This time, she took complete control of the Pearl. She became a part of her. This is new to White. And she likes it. She can fix any gem. She can make them perfect. She can make them an extension of her. This is the pivotal point in White's life. This is where her manic blooms. Her obsession with perfection. With having others like her. Another White Diamond.

White allows Pink to get her own planet now. She doesn't really need her anymore; she can start living her own life. Pink is beyond excited. Blue is nervous. She doesn't think Pink can handle it. Yellow is proud. She wants Pink to follow in her footsteps and expand the gem empire. Yellow makes another Pearl for Pink. One to help her while she colonized her new planet: Earth.

Pink leaves her life behind. (Leaving Spinnel in the garden, which, hello SU movie.) Pink and her Pearl are off to start their new adventure. Pearl, programmed to love and adore her diamond, stays right by her side, loyal, as she was created. They create new gems in the kindergartens. More Quartzes. Amethysts, Jaspers, and, of course, Rose Quartzes. Pink, like her.

After a while, Pink begins to grow restless again. Similar to White, she's not happy for long. Always wanting more. She wants to see her planet. See her work. Blue doesn't want her to go. She's afraid she'll be hurt. Yellow tells her no, that's not what diamonds do. They don't fraternize with the lower life forms. They're not important. But Pink, she didn't care. She wants what she wants and she gets what she wants. Her Pearl, wanting nothing more than to please her diamond, finds a way to get them to Earth.

You know the story from here. Mostly. Pink disguises herself as Rose Quartz. She and her Pearl visit earth. Pink falls in love with it. She enjoys the organic lifeforms. She doesn't want to destroy them. She tries to convince her fellow diamonds to stop. To spare this planet. But they don't agree. They don't think organic life is worth anything. Not when more gems can be made. But, to try and please Pink, they build the human zoo. They create a little piece of Earth that they deem safe for Pink.

Pink and her Pearl devise a way to get what she wants. They set up the whole thing. Pink Diamond keeps her form as Rose Quartz. She easily moves about within her planet, undetected. Rallying up allies. Starting a revolution. "Playing" with human males. All while her Pearl is working overtime. Trying to keep Pink's attention, keep her happy, keep the other diamonds off their backs even as their tratorious and double crossing rebellion rises. Eventually, it all breaks down. A war breaks out. Homeworld versus the Crystal Gems. Many gems are shattered. Humans are killed. (Insert Bismuth story here...Pink doesn't like her weapon idea, does not believe in shattering gems, and so it goes. Also throw in Garnet's story around this point, slightly before Bismuth. Pink, seeing this new thing, accepts it immediately. After all, she's all about change and this is definitely something new and exciting and a way for gems to change.)

Pink can't take it anymore. She thinks that if Pink is no more, the diamonds will abandon the planet. If she fakes her death, they will have no reason to be there. The war will end. She can live in peace. No one else will have to die. She gets what she wants.

And so, Pink and her Pearl hatch the perfect plan. Pink Diamond has been shattered by Rose Quartz. The war is over. But not quite. Yes, the diamonds were done with Earth now. But they were mad. They rounded up all the Rose Quartzes on Homeworld and any other planet and bubbled them, as punishment for one of their own shattering their diamond. They sent a retreat call to the forces left on Earth and then a powerful energy blast. They wanted to kill Rose and her rebels and move on. They thought they did and so the diamonds left earth for thousands of years.

As the blast came down to Earth, Pink panicked. She didn't want this. But there was no time. She did the only thing she could. She put up her shield, protecting herself and the three gems currently with her: her precious Pearl, a small and poorly formed Amethyst, and a wonderfully new and exciting fusion, Garnet. Edit: I guess Amethyst wasn't with them at this point yet. She was still in the ground at the Kindergarten. My bad.

Soon, the four of them realized that the other gems were not killed by the blast but corrupted instead. Turned into monsters. They made it their mission to find and protect these gems. Pink thought it part of her penance. Her repayment to these gems. Even if some of them were fighting against her in the war. It didn't matter. They were gems and they deserved to live happily however they wanted to. They didn't deserve to be shattered. And they certainly didn't deserve to live as monsters, either.

Eventually, Rose(Pink) meets Greg Universe. She falls for him, much the same as the other human males that have come and gone over the ages. Her Pearl, her loyal, loving, will wait for her forever Pearl, thinks Greg is just one more plaything for Pink. She doesn't worry too much. But her jealousy comes and goes. She knows Pink will come back to her. She always does.

Pink has been maturing and learning over all these years. A war will do that to ya. She is torn. She's happy that the war is over. That she won. That she can live the life she wants. She's sad that she will never see her family again. She's angry that they hurt her and her planet. That they wouldn't listen to her. That they didn't just give her what she wanted in the first place. She's captivated by all the other lifeforms on Earth. She loves the way they can grow and change and become someone new. She wants that, desperately. She thought that becoming Rose would have been enough. But it wasn't. She was still her. All the memories. All the feelings. No true growth. No true change.

That's when Pink realizes what she can do. She can create a new life. A truly new organic life that will grow and change. And she can be a part of it. She can change, finally. She gives up her diamond to create life. A human child with her gem. Her power. She is him. But he is himself. She sacrifices her life, for real this time, to create something new. To pay for her sins. To leave her responsibilities and the pain and fear and anger behind. To become someone else. To become Steven.

And the rest, well, that's what the show is for. But, again, sort of.

Back on Homeworld over these thousands of years, the diamonds grieve. In their own ways, of course. Blue takes Pink's death hard. It makes her sad. Eternally sad and blue. Yellow throws herself back into her work desperately trying to do anything to take her mind off Pink. To not think about it. She and Blue become more distant because Yellow just cannot stand the crying and moping and feeling.

White, however, takes it the hardest. Her obsession with perfection deepens into cruelness. All her gems must be perfect. They must do only what they were created for. They can't rebel. They can't think their own thoughts. They can't kill her precious Pink again. Any imperfect gems are either fixed with enhancements or shattered. Some escape and go into hiding. White has Blue work on tech that will seek out these imperfect gems and shatter them. She must keep Homeworld perfect.

The diamonds drift apart. They no longer feel like the family they once were. Now, they are just rulers of a heartbroken empire.

The story of Rose and her rebels becomes a cautionary tale among the Homeworld gems. They either think of Rose as the villain and continue with their normal, perfect gem lives. They keep the others in line and seek out imperfect gems for White to fix or destroy. Or, they see Rose as the hero. They keep it to themselves, constantly battling to keep their personalities from showing through. To keep their love secret. To keep from being deemed imperfect. Some are desperate enough to go into hiding with other off-colors and fusions. Some risk themselves to help those imperfect gems go into hiding.

Yellow decides it's time to go back to Earth and finish the colony. Finish destroying the planet entirely. Maybe that will help Blue and White get over it. Maybe they can be a family again when all traces of Pink's death are gone. Enter: Peridot and her "simple" mission to Earth.

And so, the rest, as they say, is history. Well, it's an animated children's cartoon show. Drama. Action. Fights. Giant women. Growth. Change. Family. Love.

Garnet. Amethyst. And Pearl.

And Steven.

Here's Aquamarine she's dressed as Aqua

The cross over that nobody but me asked for & few probably care for it, but this is a kinda personal thing.

I'd said for some time I hoped to draw this cross over, so I decided i am gonna knuckle down & do it as a farewell to Steven Universe, so running out of time before the show itself ends gave me the drive to start.

So Puchicarot is a puzzle game with a series of characters who hold special gems that give them power, they also chose to use real gemstones, so for a few characters from SU have a puchi counterpart, most of whom are very different.

so in puchicarat Aqua is very lovely, tho overly enthusiasti

c about fashion, this makes her far from Aquamarine in personality but one fun vague similarity is that just like in su, theres a link between Aqua & puchicarats Paz (topaz), they're siblings rather than coworkers, still, quite intresting to me at least.

I imagine aquamarine to be saying "are we finished yet?"
