for once in his entire acting career, huang renjun is left stunned as he reads through the stack of papers detailing his role in an upcoming drama.

he had always resonated with the characters he was assigned to, having a good feel of them before filming even began, yet he can’t seem to wrap his head around this specific one.

his company decided for him to play as a smitten college student, desperately pining over a girl in his year level after figuring out they were soulmates.

it didn’t make sense to him. the character was acting that way simply because they were soulmates and nothing more? what even was the point of love then? 

he would never admit it himself, but he was a romanticist who preferred carefully thought out acts of love over fleeting bursts of affection. though, who was he to argue seeing as the drama was well received by the public when news of it first hit the headlines.

but don’t get him wrong, the idea of soulmates was a concept he was more than familiar with. it wasn’t surprising to hear about it in the first place, especially when the world he lived in was full of it — red strings of fate, matching tattoos, special birthmarks, he’s seen it all, but stubbornly refuses to accept it in its truth. 

perhaps it's because he believed having a soulmate himself was highly unlikely.

he still remembers the stories he’d hear when he was younger about his cousins finding ‘the one’ — a person they shared a special bond with that no one else could replicate. it was then he tried looking for anything that could signify he had one of his own, but to no avail.

the memory still sits bitterly in his mind, yet he finds himself standing in front of the film site, unable to deny the proposal of the director. this was still work, after all.

you’re inside a trailer in the same set, sitting in a pile of jittery nerves as your make-up artist does their best to make you look presentable on camera. 

you had stayed up a bit too much rereading your script over and over again, time passing through your fingertips before you even knew it. dark circles lay under your eyes, but you still think your efforts were worth it. this was your first major appearance in a drama as one of the main leads, a crucial moment in your career to make yourself known. 

you couldn’t let something as precious as that slip away.

“you’re done here, i better see you getting a good night’s worth of rest after this!” your make up artist jests, making you laugh along with them. 

a smile makes its way up your lips as you stand up from the seat, “what would i do without you? though, i’ll be off now!”

with a small wave, you bid them a goodbye, opening the door to find yourself face-to-face with someone who was so effortlessly serene, it kind of intimidated you. “ah- i’m sorry, were you coming in for make up?”

you notice he looks rather familiar, plush lips parted ever so slightly, and eyes twinkling with a shade of pink as he stares at you. his gaze was mesmerizing, a little too much that it brings out your bashfulness, pursing your lips together before deciding to speak again. “hello? did you come here for your make up?”

“huh- oh, yeah.” he quickly transfers his line of sight to his feet, his heart beating like he just ran a 10 meter marathon. he’s never seen you around as one of the make up artists, so who exactly were you?

“my name is y/n.” you begin speaking as if you read his mind, “i’m one of the leads for this drama. it’s nice to meet you…?”

and suddenly his world clicks into place. you were going to be his partner for the drama- ‘snap out of it’, he grumbles to himself, causing you to give him a confused look.

“sorry?” you ask, hoping he could repeat what he just said because you weren’t able to catch it.

“no, it’s nothing. i apologize.” he states softly, “my name is huang renjun. i look forward to working with you.” he’s smiling now, the sparkles in his eyes now glowing a bright yellow, and your cheeks start warming up. did everyone’s eyes normally look like this?

“i- i look forward to working with you too.” you turn away to give room for your flustered expression, “um, you should get ready now. i’ll leave you be.” 

your polite words disappointingly leave him with no reason to refuse. it was a shame, he wanted to talk to you more… wait, what? just what was going on in his mind?

“yeah, okay, thanks.” his replies hurriedly, not at all in the way he hoped for, but it somehow just came out in that manner. “i’ll see you later for shooting?”

“yeah.” you smile for the first time and renjun finally sees the same kind of sparkle that floats in the depths of your irises as his, leaving him just as enthralled as you were moments ago. “i’ll be on my way then.”

the two of you now stand on opposite sides of the trailer’s door, and while you’re wondering how you’re going to properly dictate the lines you practiced while looking at him, renjun’s come to the revelation that there might just be a soulmate for him out there — or rather right outside this very trailer van. 

perhaps he’s just understood the desperation of his character’s lovesickness because he wants to open the door once more and rush out to look for you — you who he hopes is the soulmate he has been silently yearning for his entire life.

Last night you let jungkook, you even hate saying his name, into your house. You despised him but you weren't that soulless.

"How long are you staying here for?" you ask avoiding the eyes of the man walking around in your robe after you let him shower in your bathroom.

"4 days maybe" maybe?? He says prancing around your house and going through your fridge like a raccoon. He's definitely gotten comfortable very quickly.

"Damn, you don't have food in your fridge" he rummages through your cupboards now.

"I didn't think you'd take my 'stop eating' jokes serious"

Jokes, you chuckle not amused by that.

"Please stop going through my house" you say sternly.

He rejoices when he finds the packet of ramen you you didn't even know existed. You hope it's expired as you see him start to prepare them. You hate how he always tries to make things about him or how he feels entitled to everything, it doesn't surprise you though it's always been this way. Hes always been like this, towards you atleast.

When you were in the Police Academy together and you'd get praised he'd always find a way to make you feel invalid. He'd always hide behind saying it's a joke but you definitely knew that those weren't jokes.

"What happened to you" you say pointing at his bruises and cuts. Your tone is more of a I don't care but I just wanna know type.

"Bar fight" he says too quickly to be the truth, you try to analyze his face. You're not sure if he's being honest but his coming here seems a bit off to you but don't want to question him just yet.

"But what are you doing here, haven't seen you in a while you just appear at my door in the middle of the night while it's raining." You decide to finally ask after a while.

"So you missed me?" He smirks and you roll your eyes at him. Where in your sentence did he get that from. The thought of missing him disgusts you.

"I never said that, you're changing the topic" you cross your arms over your chest trying not to feel intimidated by his god-like build.

"I can't tell you why I'm here but just know I'll be out in 4 days"

"We haven't seen you in a while so we came to visit you" your friend Soni says after you ask what she and jinsyu, your other friend, are doing here. You didn't expect them to come over but it makes sense since you told them you had a free day today. But you still wish they had called. So you could hide jungkook.

"We were worried about you" jinsyu says as they walk into your home behind you.

It's their first time being in your house, so they look around in amusement. "oooh this is a really cute place" jinsyu says touching everything she sees.

You're place is nothing fancy, in your opinion it's kinda dull and boring cause of its multiple use of whites, nudes and greys. But you kinda liked it like this, simple and modern.

"Can we go upstairs" Soni says already rushing upstairs and jinsyu following behind her. You didn't even have a chance to give them permission, you didn't mind though. You follow behind them to keep them in check. It's almost like you're the mother of these two.

You don't know where jungkook is and the last thing you want is for your friends to see him. You know that if they see him they'll never let you hear the end of it. They would start calling him your lil'boyfriend when the last thing you want is jungkook as your boyfriend.

Your friends didn't know jungkook, cause you met him whilst training. Soni is a creative director at some fashion store while jinsyu is a training Doctor.

You follow behind them and watch them as they look around your bedroom. You lose focus on jinsyu and she sneaks into your bathroom. You're focused on something else when you hear jinsyu.

"What are these" you hear her exclaim. So you and Soni follow where she is. Immediately you catch sight of what jinsyu is exclaiming about.

And laying there on top of your laundry basket is a pair of grey boxers with Calvin klein on the band, jungkook's boxers.

You immediately rush over to flip the lid of the basket and drop them inside without touching them. You can feel Jinsyu and Soni's eyes on you . And their cheeky and mocking grins too.

"It's not what yo-" you begin when you're interrupted by your friend's squeals.

"Y/n, why didn't you tell us you're seeing someone." soni says smiling from ear to ear.

"That's cause I'm not" you defend yourself.

"Lies" jinsyu follows up.

Your friends barely see you with guys, so they get really excited by the mere thought of you being in a relationship or even talking to a guy.

"I think we should go downstairs now" you say dragging them out of the bathroom ignoring all their little comments and nags.

This makes everything more stressful for you because you don't know where jungkook is. You really don't want your friends to see. You hope he's fallen into a ditch or something wherever he is.

You walk downstairs not noticing the shirtless man in black shorts in the kitchen making himself a sandwich.

"Oh" you hear your friends say and pull your eyes to what's got there attention.

"Is that him" soni says grining widely at jungkook, his muscles contract and relax as he chops up the cucumber. He seems so focused on such a simple job. You're friends watch intensely almost drooling at the mouth.

"Where the heck were you?" You ask hushed approaching jungkook.

Jungkook ignores you and looks over at your friends who walk into the kitchen behind you watching you two interact.

" you should have told me your friends were coming over I would have put on a shirt" he says jokingly but not really talking to you. You know that even if he knew he'd still not wear a shirt.

"That's not-that's not a problem" Soni says and jinsyu bumps her with her elbow.

"you have a boyfriend" jinsyu whispers to Soni and she shrugs her away.

"not one built like that."

"So you're the one keeping y/n from us?" Jinsyu says while soni still drools over jungkook. Her tone is very playful.

"You two are like dating?" Soni says finally out of her trance.

"NO" You and jungkook say like it's the worst thing that could happen in the world.

"He'll no, but she wishes that though." He turns to are you mocking you with an eyebrow raise as he finishes making his sandwich.

"Fuck off, i'd rather die" your eyes are still locked into each other as you say this, he smirks at you probably mockingly. Definitely mocking you.

"I'll leave you ladies alone now" he picks up his plate and eyeing you one more time leaves. Your friends eye him as he leaves to go back outside.

You hated when he stared at you like that it always made you feel small and tiny.

For the past 3 days jungkook has been sleeping on your couch. Your house did have a spare bedroom but it wasn't furnished because you never expected to have visitors, you moved in recently.

"I'd appreciate it if you got off my bed" jungkook says to you who's seated on the couch watching your show.

"I wanna sleep" he adds as he throws the pillow and blanket you gave to him on the couch.

"In my house?" You state reminding him who the house belongs to.

He stands there just watching you as you ignore him for your show.

"Why didn't you run to your own house" you mumble with no care in the world as you rest your head against your palm.

"Last time I remember you had a house when you worked at the station." You continue to spit out like the words are fire on your tongue.

Your comment causes jungkook's jaw to clench and smile to drop. You don't notice but his body and muscles tense up thinking about what you just said.

You slowly turn your head to look at a tensed up and uneasy looking jungkook. It was a blow to the gut you suppose, and that causes you to smile at him happy you could cause him such discomfort.

The jungkook you know would have spit out a comeback seconds after your comment. You begin to feel a little bad due to the way he seems to linger on your comment and the silence that consumes you.

You want to speak but he speaks before you "I lost the house"

You don't know how he lost it so you don't conclude on how to feel but that doesn't stop you from feeling kinda bad. When did this happen? For how long?.

For a moment you forget the jungkook that used to always have something to say about you as his character falters.

Your thoughts are brought to a halt as you hear a knock at your door. You get up quickly to answer the door and to avoid the tension in the room.

Jungkook doesn't bother going to the door, it's your house isn't it. But you notice the worried look on his face when he hears the knock on the door he almost looks like a deer caught in headlights.

When you open the door you see the familiar face of your neighbor, yoongi, his long dark hair up in a man bun. He wore his hair like this often when he got back from work or when he's chilling at home.

You hate to say it but you're noticed this when he takes out his trash and you see him through your window, like a creep. It honestly became a habit to wait for him to take out his trash and watch his shiny black hair bounce in its bun and the loose strands brush against the back of his neck.

One day as you were carrying out your usual, he turns to face your window and it felt like you made eye contact. But you doubt that he saw you. Maybe he saw your curtain move. If he did see you he sure thinks you're a creep but by the way he greets you sometimes you doubt he saw you, or maybe he doesn't mind that you're watching him. Maybe it flatters him.

"Oh hi yoongi. What are you doing here?" You ask fiddling with the zipper of your jersey as you look at yoongi, he's in his usual 'I'm at home look'. A black T-shirt and navy blue shorts which off his smooth and pale legs.

He stands with the box of brownies in his hands.

He reciprocates the greeting and adjusts the box in his hands.

"I brought you this box of brownies I made" he stretches the box and you gladly take it analyzing the box cautiously and happily.

"I've been trying to bake a needed a woman's opinion"

He's confident and clear as he says this not faltering one bit, yoongi's aura always makes you feel somewhat vulnerable and relaxed like you could just let go and be yourself. He still had you on your toes though.

You've only had two serious interactions with yoongi and the rest were just hellos. But from those interactions you've come to the conclusion of how yoongi would be as a boyfriend.

You hum "I'll definitely try them and let-"

The sound of a plate falling gets you and yoongi's attention and shortly afterwards a small 'sorry' follows.

Even if it's small and soft yoongi can definitely notice that it's a man's voice. You slap yourself mentally as yoongi turns to look at you.

"Didn't know you had someone over" he chuckles not intimidated one bit and not trying to interrogate or make you feel bad about it.

"it's just a friend" you release a nervous laugh and yoongi simply notes not pressing it any longer.

"Anyways thanks for bringing these over I'll let you know what I think of them after I've had them."

"Alright I'll be waiting" yoongi says still wondering about the man in your house.

You share your goodbyes and you stand there watching yoongi walk away. You try and collect your thoughts before you go in there and cuss jungkook out.

Have you ever wanted to join the writers room of SpongeBob and the Patrick star show?

THIS IS A TIMELY QUESTION! i was just discussing this with my director a few weeks ago. tldr before i even get to the long part: not necessarily, it's never really been something on my radar and so i don't feel as equipped for it but that could--and i hope it does--change!

LONGER EXPLANATION.. i was in a meeting with my director recently pitching my boards to him, and we got spitballing back and forth and we essentially just started joke pitching an idea for an episode. he was like "yknow that's pretty good, i could get you in touch with our script coordinators if you ever felt you wanted to take it further" and my response was like ahhhhhhh nah i could never write an episode i wouldn't know where to start blah blah blah, and we basically had a talk that amounted to "don't knock it 'til you'll try it" and so it's definitely been more on my mind lately

IT'S AN INTERESTING SITUATION. i'd consider myself a decent writer and i certainly enjoy doing it, most of my free time is spent writing my reviews! likewise, i LOVE breaking down and analyzing dialogue and coming up with random character conversations. talking to the person who typed the entire Hamlet soliloquy in Porky's stutter one time because ?. i think i'm more interested in writing than i think i really am

but something about writing for cartoons has always been very intimidating to me HAHA. i'm not really someone who is sitting on a wealth of episode ideas and dying going like "ahhh man i wish we could see SpongeBob and Patrick doing this", etc--if and when i have those moments it's usually very spontaneous and in the moment! like what i mentioned above when i'm spitfiring in a meeting. i think i get intimidated by the "where the hell do i start" and "how do i organize this" aspects, because i have had ideas for cartoons before and aim to act on some of them! i still haven't forgotten the "Porky and Daffy are competing salesmen" cartoon idea i thought up in 2020 which is also partially responsible for my job in the first place. but it's like a blip, a skip in a record in that i struggle untangling and organizing and really establishing a working structure. i am a VERY detail oriented person and so i think i like working smaller and more intimately, where i can add my own personal flair to something that someone who may be more proficient in establishing a foundation has done.

BUT! maybe i just say all this because i haven't done it yet!! don't know it unless i try! for my purposes as an artist now i enjoy drawing and embellishing pre-existing ideas and suggesting gags and getting into the nitty gritty of the details on a small scale, but i also don't wanna put myself in any boxes and restrain myself from trying, either. i don't talk about them as much on here just because they literally dominate every other aspect of my life (well that and NDAs forbid me from doing so!), but i love SB and Patrick and all the Bikini Bottomites deeply! i'm so lucky to get to document their lives. they really are like real friends to me and i hope i'm lucky enough to find more ways to fraternize with them and learn about them and bring out their tics and habits and traits and how they contrast and support one another. i do that best through drawing right now, but i'm excited for all the ways i'll be able to expand beyond that. and maybe one day that'll include writing!

ALSO KINDA FRAGMENTED I KNOW i just made my closing statements above. i apologize for my pedanticism. but TPSS doesn't have a writer's room to my knowledge because it's board driven! we get to sit in on storyboard pitches (just had a wonderful one this evening) and watch the artists pitch their boards and it's such a wonderful experience. i have thought "i wonder how it would go if i pitched to the network like that" in sitting in these meetings. BUT JUST WANTED TO CLARIFY i know writer's room is an all consuming term and i'm being pedantic. but it's very neat that we get to work on a board driven show to begin with and has made quite a difference and so i just like pointing it out :) i love what we're doing

I.. don't think I'm as well-adjusted to grad school as I'd hoped. I feel behind but I'm not even sure how to "catch up" or what specifically I am not doing. I just want to do more but I feel intimidated by what "more" might be. My days are mostly empty outside of a single lab-based task that might take one to three hours. Admittedly, I did procrastinate myself out of that bioinformatics "course". I do intend to start that back up again. I do want to learn (I was intimidated by the homework (only recently did I realize that I literally do not actually have to do the homework if I don't want to lol, this is all asynchronous and semi-recreational for my own benefit)). I think that's a major part of why I feel like I could be doing more. My postdoc is working like 12 hour days or something while I come in and lounge for four hours or so (I've recently been making an effort to do six hours though, even if it's just me sitting and reading (fiction >.<) for most of the time (I'll start an anthropology book after this series I promise)).

I have started learning music theory though. Only barely, it feels like, but it's more than any true theory I'd absorbed through the years of band classes and orchestra rehearsals (I know what a "diminished sixth" means now (kinda) and can point it out in sheet music (most of the time)! I can differentiate between three different minor scales (most of the time)!). I plan to leisurely make my way through a semester's worth of lectures on it. I want a good understanding of why music works so I can hopefully get good at improvisation (also I need to relinquish the idea that I'm going to be some improv master at first try--because that's not going to happen. it'll likely take weeks of trials and lots of errors before I get any sort of feel for what sounds "decent").

I've been reading Jade City by Fonda Lee and woah. I think this would make an excellent television show. It's soooo good. Fantasy action, my genre beloved (and politics?? bro im in LOVE), but inspired by a totally different culture than what I typically read. The naming switcharoo took a bit of getting used to sure but it's far more immersive that way. I would love to see this in live action and thirst after Hilo bc you know the casting director would do him right. I'm glad I decided to stick with her on a whim.

I wish the pollen wasn't still so bad (I have to keep my windows open all the time bc no ac, and pollen flies in 24/7 and coats absolutely everything which is the worsttttt. thankfully my bed doesn't get too much of it but UGH), I'd love to spend more time outside. The flowers are lovely but I'm ready for the trees to pack it upppp.

My mom thinks I'm being too social for me to handle. I haven't had a full weekend to just isolate and chill in a month. There's just so much to do, though! I want to do it all now that the weather is warm. This area has lots of events all the time. I have to remember that I have five more years, I guess.

Today I'm thankful that at least I'm not being pushed too hard.

First, physical ages yes

15 years: Mizuki, Nene, Minori

16 years: Rui, Shizuku

17 years: Kanade

Timeline (no dates bc i am lazy)

* Vamps are born as humans lmao

* Rui and Nene are neighbours

* Rui and Mizuki meet and become friends when Mizuki is 14 and Rui is 15, Nene also meets Mizuki

* Mizuki (now 15) has to leave the place they live in (sadge)

* In their new area, Mizuki only hears about Kanade but they don't meet until later

* Elsewhere, Shizuku and Minori live in the same place but they never properly meet due to their different statuses (Minori is a commoner and Shizuku is idk some kind of high status)

* Everyone gets turned into vampires around the same time

* Mizuki properly meets Kanade and they become friends

* Mizuki/Kanade and Rui/Nene meet eachother agains, now as vampires and they decide to stay together

* Elsewhere, Shizuku and Minori meet as newly turned vampires and become friends

* Some time later they all meet eachother and form an impromptu show troupe to get by

* They gather some fame but have to stop once their superhuman abilities and looks get obvious (this is when Ferid discovers them)

* They continue under different aliases until a bit before apocalypse happens and Ferid picks them up

general shenanigans

- they're like a dumpsterfire polycule

- They're all eachothers biggest supporters and also enablers <3

- They're almost always together

- The show troupe functioned so: Rui was the director and did props, stage mechanics and also acting. Nene, Minori and Shizuku all mainly did acting. Mizuki made the costumes and also acted when needed. Kanade did the music and maybe acted as a disembodied/off stage voice

- It's mainly his enabling that they can do all their silly stuff in Sangiuem post apocalypse

- They're part of Ferid's faction

- He just found it fascinating that vampires can stay so... livley

- It's bc they've been gazed upon by Hatsune Miku herself btw

- It was mainly Rui, Shizuku and Kanade that caught Ferid's eye but he had to take Kanade, Nene and Minori too bc they're a package deal

- Only Shizuku knew proper swordplay or fighting bc of her human upbringing so Ferid arranged Crowley to teach the rest hehe

- Shizuku's way of teaching just didn't work it's okay she tried her best

- Mizuki and Rui picked it up fairly quickly, Minori and Nene struggled a bit but Kanade... yeah she's a lost cause

- This ends up with them spending a fair bit of time around Crowley (and by extention Chess and Horn) so they become aquianted, kinda?

- Minori and Nene are still really intimidated by them, Mizuki and Kanade only a little and Rui and Shizuku are completley fearless

What's up I'm still doing bad and feel my last year's mystery stress sickness is coming back and none of my drafts are anywhere remotely close to getting finished anytime soon because of that how are you are you interested in cat

(picked the TPB timeline because it makes the most sense and has the most fitting characters, but I might cheat or bend it a little, we'll see)

Yuma Kokohead -> Rusty/Firestar

Main boy :) because of course he is. Yuma's now an orange cat. Firestar was the name of Number One, and Rusty (canonically Fire's old house cat name, I'm not calling them kittypets I'm sorry) was the name of the trainee he very politely borrowed his identity for.

Makoto Kagutsuchi -> Scourge

In wc canon, Scourge is also Firestar's half-brother (but they don't ever knooow) and they both kill each other + he's canonically stated to be VERY short like one of the smallest cats in the series. After the cloning, Makoscourge painted his fur completely black except for a one white paw (for the aesthetics. or maybe I'll just give Fire a white paw as well, kinda like Yuma's and Makoto's lil ahoges), started wearing the "OwO" mask, the dog tooth studded shrimp color collar, the fucking blood dyed amv bangs, the dog tooth reinforced claws........ The former CEO took him to hot topic for the first time in his life and he was fucking MESMERIZED none of them knew what they have brought upon themselves by this single act. He is a very silly man, lost in the whimsy. When his mask gets pulled off in the Mystery Labirynth, his face is just not dyed at all and it's just ginger with green eyes just like Rusty's/Firestar's/Yuma's/whatever.

Shinigami -> Spottedleaf

In canon, Spottedleaf does infamously end up haunting Firestar's dreams as a ghost to send him cryptic visions and furiously make out with him in front of his pregnant wife, he did have a crush on her before she died and I'm pretty sure she was retconned into reciprocating it was real bad and then they double killed her so Fire won't have to choose between her and his wife in heaven it was REAL bad uhh. I still like her though. I can get you out of the narrative girl just take my hand.... She can be the weirdgirl incarnate she was always meant to be. She is literally perfect like I cannot state this enough. AND canonically she was later retconned to have feelings for Tigerstar but I hate to acknowledge it how dare you massacre Lep like that. She can still be his gf alongside vice director though, she's just engaging in acts of deceit whilst putting opioids in his food and trying her darndest to convince herself she's actually 100% in control of the situation before she's dragged to the cube dimension and has a brief "are we the baddies" moment. I don't think she still resigns from being a peacekeeper though Leopardstar 100% would take that fucking promotion the moment she's offered it and a year later when she' done feeling guilty regresses back into being a violent asshole she has learned NOTHING❤️

Fake/Hitman Zilch -> Darkstripe

So many dissapointments happening here sigh..... This one was obvious and honestly the only valid option for FZilch aside from maybe Nightwhisper or Blackfoot? Anyway, the downsides: one, Darkstripe will never be as cool as fake Zilch he thrives on being a cringe mistreated lickspittle. Two, he's definitely not one of Tigerstar's "closest advisors (🏳️‍🌈)" whilst Dark is pretty obsessed Tiger does not give a shit and considers him a looooooser boooo lameee fuck you *canonically swats him away with his tail that one scene*. But, I mean, at least the toxic yaoi became an entire new category of toxic.

In canon, another one of Tigerstar's lackeys that didn't know about his crimes and when he found out he immediately left. I thought he was not evil enough to be Seth at first, but it kinda fits and he does make up for it in his cringe value and being noted to be a coward, though that may have been just Fire's opinion. Also, with all the bunny Seth Burrows jokes, I'd like to mention Longtail got his eyes clawed by a rabbit so hard he went blind so do with that what you will

Guillaume Hall -> Russetfur

Aaaand this is where I started having trouble with the remaining peacekeepers. Eventually I settled on Russetfur & Blackfoot/Blackstar for Guillaume and Dominic, because I like this danger duo I and some of the fandom completely made up about them. It's okay, the authors don't know you like we do...... While Blackstar did have a higher rank and Russet was his deputy, I do think she still had at least an equal amount of power as him, they're buddies pair bonded for life Blackstar is nodding respectfully to whatever incomprehensible wisdom she's sharing

Dominic Fulltank -> Blackfoot/star

In canon, started out as a murderous henchman of two major equally murderous evil dictators, before they both died and he finally got that boss promotion he always wanted, then he got ruined by the, you guessed it, retcons, but I don't like to be reminded of his atrocity of a novella. Halara Nightmare -> Yellowfang

Halara gets the old beam. They're now in their fucking 60s or something perhaps 70s. Yellowfang, on the other hand, gets the non-binary spec beam. She already gave off massive butch vibes in canon already, whatever. I don't think I can uhh in short terms explain Yellowfang's whole deal rn but the gist of it she's a very snarky grandma figure to Fire that gradually warmed up to him while she was- my cat vomited. While he was assigned to take care of her while she was taken prisoner into ThunderClan camp. Her personality's pretty funky. And she does seem cool enough in order to deserve to be Halara Nightmare.

Desuhiko Thunderbolt -> Graystripe

I think I'm taking a break and coming back to this tomorrow actually after all. Hello this is tomorrow Jasper. In canon, Graystripe is Fire's silly goofy boybestie when they're young, then he starts secretly dating Silverstream - hold on i can't fuvking take tjis im making myself hot cocoa again bye. Ok it's done let's see if that makes me feel something. As I was saying he's dating this cat and she's from a rival Clan so that's illegal forbidden love and then she dies during childbirth and he leaves his own Clan for a while to raise their babies there but then he gets exiled and goes back to his own and then his kids almost get publically executed for being half-clan so he and his buddies rescue them. And then he gets abducted by humans and meets this new gal called Millie and they start dating and then she gives birth to his new babies and then a tree falls on one of them. I'm pretty sure Fire was also pretty gay for that guy. Uh, anyway. I think he fits the bill because of his goofy charm but also it's pretty disturbing to imagine any iteration of Desuhiko actually getting bitches

Fubuki Clockford -> um. uh. Silverstream?

Silverstream, in canon, is the only daughter of Crookedstar, the leader of RiverClan, and is (implied to not having a problem with) getting various privileges because of this. Fits with Fubuki's rich timelord parents, plus light blue aesthetic, and a few other things which are hard to articulate. Only thing is that she's generally way more headstrong and impulsive than Fubuki showed to be, could "bend her father to her will with little effort", and disrespects the law if it's stupid to her which, queen shit. I think she'll play a lot of little pranks with her time powers, and devote her free time/time with YumaRusty when he's accused of terrorism crimes (but that's just unrestrained summer fun anyway) to absolutely decimate any peacekeepers they come across with some looney tunes shit

Vivia Twilight -> I'll be honest I have no fucking idea

Zero fucking idea. Literally NOBODY in this arc fits for the 5D chess of a character Vivia is. I'm not even sure if in any of the books. Help me. But also I don't really care because I don't even like Vivia at all anyway he freaks me out get him away from me.

Yakou Furio -> Bluestar?

Protag mentor figure except Bluestar is actually doing a good job at that until she loses her marbles after her mid-arc torment gauntlet and has a corruption arc until she drowns and gets healed of all her issues momentarily before fucking dying. She has a dead husband, dead mom, dead sister, dead baby, dead deputy, dead deputy #2, dead bestie, holy shit that's a lot of motives for suicidemurdering Huesgoose. Btw Goose was her weird voice of god hearing uncle in canon (and he was also dead) but I'm probably taking it out unless. Anyway she's kinda too good for Yakou but. If it's alright, I'd really like to hear more about January's 'Some Kinda Gender'. I understand it might be a spoiler/private so no pressure I'm just really interested

I think everything January is and/or isn't going to do in coming seasons is fun to find out as it happens. We've heard him do a lot of thinking about things he's done, but really only 1.5ish episodes thinking about what he's actually like as a person. And, more importantly, what he'd like to be like as a person. That is, if he can even get over the fact that he isn't one.

But I'm more than happy to talk generally about gender performance in s1 and generally. Buckle up, it's probably going to be a bit of a long one! I'm really into this, lol.

So before I really got to know any of the St Kilda cast I got to see most of them act at table reads. Spectacular experience, they're all incredible actors and fascinating people. But Rhys and I were never at a table read together, so the first time I properly met him he was just a regular human guy. As the script Naomi was working on currently stood he was going to play someone's boyfriend and I was like 'yeah, sure. This is a human man who could be a boyfriend.'

Then at like 2am the director came in and was like 'English accent! You're the villain now!' We'd been hanging out for a couple hours at that point. Rhys is vibrant, but a very gently spoken person. And I wasn't at all thinking 'Oh no, he can't do that' because like,,, that's his job. But I was very interested to see what he would do.

The first time I see him on set he has the whole villain get-up on and it is camp. Not in a camp-but-as-a-compliment way, thought it was cool af, but literally 2000s cartoon queer villain camp. Slicked hair and make-up that matched his suit. And I was like okay, damn, blinked and this dude got a whole new gender, good for him.

And then, to no one's surprise and to my absolute delight, he acted the fuck out of that campy outfit. Snippy and cocky and commanding. And obviously I knew, y'know, from being alive, that anyone performing 'camp villain' is doing a specific gender performance, but it was so cool to see someone I had got to know out of costume do that.

So I was thinking about this - and the other times I'd seen Rhys act in the interim - when I was doing final script edits/deciding what January/Ian would sound like. January was always going to have his voice actor's natural accent (as long as they weren't American, lol) and that was intentional.

The only actual vocal note I gave Rhys when coming up with an Ian voice was to go deeper, but I also told him that ep 8 was kind of Ian's campy villain monologue. He's just talking to hear the sound of his own voice at that point, he could have just killed Artemis and saved himself a lot of trouble.

Ian, as he tells you, has been pretending to be this January persona the whole time. And for most of episode 8 you have no reason not to believe him. His name is Ian. He can prove he was putting on a voice. He has a wife, not a spouse (yeah, I know a wife is a spouse, but he'd never say wife, would he... hmm...), a teenage daughter, not two young children. And everything January said was a lie.

BUT THEN! He gets upset, and his voice just... slips. That doesn't tend to happen when you're speaking in your natural accent.

Ian is just a persona too. He's this hyper-masculine husband, father, son, politician, bread-winner type turned old-timey camp-horror-villain and that's all a performance.

More importantly than being Ian, January isn't real. He isn't an anxious, fumbling, queer-in-a-librarian-kind-of-way radio host. But he also isn't this super-masc intimidating politician type; hence, when we actually meet Ian he's just,, kinda gay.

Everything is a performance for January and it must be exhausting. Someone just decided he was a human man one day, and sure he wants to be a human man, but he has no idea how to do that. He needs a break to figure out who he is. Unfortunately he instead did some murdering about it, so he probably won't get one.

director’s cut for “You Must Live (For Me)”? 👀

So before I wrote You Must Live (For Me), there was some renewed discussion about Savitar going on (still on going, i especially love everything you've had to say about Savitar @shrinkthisviolet) - I specifically remember @alittleflashvibe mentioning Savitar/Reverb as being the dark barrisco ship - and it was a ship I'd considered some on an off for a while but not really talked much about. But after having written some SaviFrost before and, more recently, some Eobard/Savitar and Reverb/HR I was really enjoying getting into some more rare pairs/villain ships/ships where I have a lot more leeway in their interactions because they either barely (Savitar/Eobard) or never (Reverb/HR) meet in canon. So it seemed like a good time to finally try writing something for the Savitar/Reverb (Saverb, I do like that as their portmanteau name).

I decided before I started writing it'd be a 'bad guys win' type story, which meant a happy ending for Savitar and Reverb but also meant that I knew from the start Iris was going to die. Which I thankfully didn't get stuck on writing, but I definitely procrastinated on finishing it a bit because I do love Iris, so giving her an ending where she's kidnapped, ignored, and then killed was hard to write.

I didn't really have a huge plan for the fic, so I thought it'd be maybe 5,000~ words long at most. But then I started writing and it kinda possessed me. It became a lot more slowburn than I'd thought it would be initially, but that also gave me more breathing room to develop their relationship and their insecurities over it - Reverb's fear of being a Cisco replacement or that Savitar would be too much in love with Iris even now to kill her, Savitar's jealousy over Reverb flirting with the baristas and a believable build up to it being Reverb's death he saw in the Speed Force prison - which was why I chose to have Savitar averting Reverb's death from the pre-Flashpoint timeline be the starting point of the fic too.

Leaning into both Reverb and Savitar's claims of godhood was definitely a cheesy sort of fun, but it works well as their special kind of flirting so I'm glad I stuck with it for the whole fic. It was also kind of what helped lead into the idea of Reverb making Savitar's armor. I'd initially intended for Savitar to have the armor, he just wasn't using it around Reverb much as a show of trust. But the more I started thinking about it the more I wanted Reverb to do something that would change the dynamic between them and how better than to showcase that he's still an engineer at heart (and is more similar to Cisco in that way than he'd likely be comfortable with). When Reverb wants to protect someone, he builds them that protection - be it the scythe for his brother or, say, armor for his new lover? It really brought the middle of the fic together, which I think would have really meandered otherwise.

The Savitar armor is definitely intended to frighten and intimidate. It's inhuman looking and it scared the hell out of at least four different speedsters - Barry, Jay, Jesse, and Wally - so someone had to have but a lot of deliberate thought into it's appearance. It made a lot of sense to me that Reverb would have considered the armor's appearance as being just as important as it's purpose. Flirting aside, both Savitar and Reverb are well aware that though they're walking that path to godhood (or as close as powerful metahumans could come to such a thing), they aren't there yet. Training Reverb was Savitar's contribution to helping Reverb hone his powers and so the armor became Reverb's answer to the training, something that helped push Savitar further along their shared path too.

Reverb being Savitar's new lightning rod was also something that wasn't initially intended for the fic. I had the first electric zap in there without really thinking about it initially, but when I was re-reading what I had so far while about... a quarter-ish through the fic (and slowly realizing I wasn't even midway done yet), I had this kind of lightbulb moment where I went 'huh, this would work as foreshadowing' and from there started weaving in the lightning rod thing into the fic a bit more so that when Savitar tells Reverb at the end, it wouldn't just come out of nowhere.

I'd also initially intended to split the PoV between Reverb and Savitar but once I started writing from Reverb's PoV it just didn't feel right to go back and forth between the two. It makes Savitar's unreliable narrator tendencies less obvious, but I feel like that worked out for the better overall. It also helped keep the tension about the final showdown with Barry up a bit - I wanted readers to be able to see that Savitar was too invested in Reverb to let killing Iris give him even a seconds pause anymore but still feel caught up in Reverb's fears that the vision he saw would come to pass.

I think my biggest disappointment was that I couldn't let Reverb's training pay off in a Reverb vs. The Flash fight. I still want to write that fight eventually, so I'm definitely not done with writing Saverb yet.

His Method of Work: The Pentas Family can be thought of as many things. Well, if you were to think of it as, say, an anglerfish, then Jay would play the role of that bright, shiny lure. He can put on a Grammy-worthy act in the blink of an eye, whether to lead a target to their doom or to keep any potential witnesses away from a soon-to-be crime scene.

On top of con-games, Jay can also be quite stealthy if the job calls for it. Sneaking around enemy turf, setting up a sabotage or two, gathering information, spying on those who give off weird vibes during business negotiations. . .

Unlike most of his peers, Jay was raised in a comfortable, pleasant environment. . .or, that environment was comfortable and pleasant while he was a kid. Things changed pretty drastically after he became an adult; more specifically, after he came out. He ended up leaving his hometown behind, hopping from one motel to another. Though he worked various odd-jobs, he also quickly learned to pick pockets in order to survive.

By the time he had a chance-meeting with a few Pentas representatives, Jay had already somewhat dipped his toes into the criminal underground. Mainly via listening to the hurried whispers of passersby, and then trading those memorized details for cash.

Despite what happened to him, Jay has never once questioned himself or felt ashamed of who he is. Even when he was offered a place in The Pentas Family, he was still very much intimidated by them at first. But the support and open-mindedness they showed was quick to seal the deal for him. This in turn led to him (along with Val) having a hand in making sure that any Pentas-owned businesses are clearly marked as safe spaces for queer people.

He is most certainly NOT immune to morbid fascination. True, he doesn’t do any actual killing himself, but. . .well, I wouldn’t put it past him to look over the carnage left after a hit-job, all curious and thoughtful. The cleanup crew has gotten pretty used to him hanging around while they work.

He works at Bullskit, a theater/auditorium that serves as one of the oldest buildings in the Cove Port Inlets (it’s still in business; it was even freshly remodeled when Jay joined the mob). It’s connected to the abandoned subway tunnels, and Jay kinda just lives there after hours. During hours, however, he dabbles in a bit of everything: stagehand, greenroom tech, assistant to the directors, you name it. If a target or enemy happens to get on the stage, Jay isn’t exactly above looking the other way when his peers sneak in to drop sandbags, switch out prop weapons for real ones, rig the special effects, etc.

Your OCs are walking through the park at night (why? who knows?) and hear a clamor down by the pond. It's Rae, attempting to fight off a group of muggers from stealing an older lady's purse. Rae has her fists up, and her hands are glowing faintly with the energy of her shields, but her nose is bloody and she seems to be tiring.

What do your OCs do?

Siv: All Rae sees is a burst of red lightning drag all the muggers into the middle of the pond. Then, Siv stops really quick to take a look at Rae and make sure she's okay, and without saying a word, vanishes into the night.

Jay: Makes a distraction by shooting a series of energy pulses from his gauntlets into the sky, so Rae can take care of the muggers while they're distracted, then asks if she's okay once she's done.

Cassandra: Shadowy tentacles rise up from portals in the ground and drag the muggers into the abyss. She'll let them out later, when they're thoroughly traumatized.

Hailey: Beats the ever-loving shit out of the muggers, and while they're all tied up waiting for her to bring them to jail, she checks Rae over for serious injuries.

Esme: Probably takes off her shoes and throws them at the muggers, because a platform heel to the face? Ouch.

Arya: Tells Rae to shield herself, then uses their siren calls to incapacitate the muggers, but only to the point of temporarily knocking them out.

Gina: Hides behind some trees and makes some weird vocal trills so the muggers get distracted for a few moments, then leaves once she's sure Rae's handling the situation.

Ember: Is far scrappier than they look, from decades of fighting off cops when they tried to raid her club. He joins in the fight, successfully taking care of a couple of the muggers, then she offers to walk Rae home once they're done.

Cat: Pulls out her handgun from her waistband, threatening the muggers to back off. Once they leave, she makes sure Rae is okay.

Max: Uses his earrings to summon one of his smaller mech suits, then remotely controls it to beat up a few of the muggers, and walk Rae home.

Kyle: He works for a charity that helps people get out of domestic violence situations, so he knows what he's doing. He'll probably just put on a big light show, with electricity everywhere and glowing eyes and stuff, to scare the muggers off, then he'll walk Rae home since he's probably much more intimidating-looking than she is.

Eric: Scares off the muggers with some magic, then makes sure that Rae and the old lady are alright.

Jacob: A well-timed punch to the nose takes care of the muggers, then he stops to make sure that everyone is okay and that Rae doesn't need any more help.

Khalil: Probably doesn't actually get involved, but he might shout "Hey!" from far away to temporarily distract the muggers so Rae can take care of them.

Ameerah: Strikes fear into the hearts of the muggers with her empathic abilities, then steals all the money for herself. Payment for saving Rae's skin, or so she says.

Rania: Keeps walking, but calls the local authorities. She doesn't have any powers or fighting experience, so she'd just get in the way.

Antonio: Doesn't get involved, since he's a literal child and is kinda scared of getting beat up by a bunch of grown men, but he telekinetically throws the muggers into the pond.

Reggie: Sneaks up behind the muggers and knocks out two of them by hitting them on the back of the head with xir skateboard. Then, once Rae's taken care of the rest, xe makes sure that everyone is okay, proudly informing everyone that xe just got xir first aid badge in Girl Scouts!

Director Hawke: Watches from afar, hoping that the muggers will take care of Rae. If not, then Rae's about to have her hands full with a genocidal witch on her tail.

Meredith: All Rae sees is a sudden burst of lightning and the muggers vanish into thin air.

Kelsie: Vines suddenly reach out of the ground, wrapping the muggers up, and one vine reaches out and returns the purse to the old lady. As of yet, people are probably still attributing that save to Poison Ivy, which annoys Kelsie to no end.

Cory: Walks up to the muggers, grinning like Kevin McCalister, then they suddenly start floating in the air, which confuses them for long enough for Rae to take care of them. Then, they stop to make sure no one needs him to call an ambulance or something.

Torryn: Doesn't get involved, but he calls the authorities on a random payphone to take care of it. After all, they're legally dead, and he doesn't want anyone to know otherwise.

Onnie: Walks right by, since it's not her problem. Then, two blocks later, she sighs and goes back, running Rae and the old lady a couple blocks away to safety, telling them "No one is ever going to believe that I saved you."

Jessi: Doesn't get involved. She honestly feels sorry for that poor girl, who isn't rich or powerful enough to have a burly bodyguard to protect her, but that's not her problem.

Pippa: Throws all the muggers in the lake, then uses her field medicine knowledge to check to see if Rae needs someone to reset her nose.

Hyun-Ki: Since he doesn't have powers and can't really fight, he doesn't get involved. He does call the authorities to come and take care of the situation, though.

Marie: Nerve-pinches the muggers to knock them all out. Then, she uses her 25th-century medical knowledge to take care of Rae and the old lady and make sure they're okay, before offering to do a quick site-to-site transport of them to their respective homes.

Liah: Doesn't physically get involved due to her pacifistic tendencies, but she does puff herself up so she looks bigger and more intimidating, then approaches the muggers and asks "Is there a problem here?". Unsurprisingly, they don't want to get involved with the 6'3 terrifying alien lady who looks like she bench-presses a car.

Qiara: Adjusts the laws of physics for a few moments so the sun shines directly into all the muggers' eyes, then, while they're incapacitated, she helps Rae take care of them.

Soraya: Sets her phaser to stun, knocks them all out, then beams them all directly into the brig of her ship. She offers Rae and the old lady medical attention if they need it.

Athena: Probably keeps walking, but if she gets involved, she'll stun all the muggers to bring them back to her lab to be human experiments. Then, she takes Rae's money and the old lady's as payment for her services.

Laila: If she's feeling particularly nice, she might Force-choke all the muggers and vanish into the night, never to be seen again by Rae.

Reyna: Decides that this is a great time to test one of her new inventions, which proceeds to blow up in her face. Thankfully, the chaos that causes distracts the muggers for long enough for Rae to take care of them.

Thalia: Runs in headfirst and punches the living shit out of the muggers, then uses her Force-healing ability to fix Rae's nose, before vanishing into the night.

Pyrrha: Is at first tempted to go in lightsaber blazing, but she doesn't really do that anymore, so she goes into her med kit and pulls out some sedative, and knocks out the muggers, before offering her medic skills to Rae and the old lady.

Samira: Keeps walking, but calls the authorities. She doesn't really have any relevant skills for the fight, but she keeps an eye out from a distance to make sure that Rae is okay.

Aldrich: Literally just bites the muggers. Rae might get suddenly confused by the revelation that vampires are real.

Sohelia: Holds her breath so she doesn't get distracted by the smell of Rae's nosebleed, and uses a few vampire-enhanced-strength powered punches to bring the muggers to the ground, before vanishing into the night.

Vanessa: Surprises the muggers with the fact that she's basically indestructible and bulletproof, allowing Rae to take care of them.

Matt: Doesn't get involved, since he couldn't really help with the fight itself, but once Rae's taken care of everything, he comes in and offers his medic skills for any injuries she's sustained.

Dolores: Doesn't get involved, since she can smell Rae's nosebleed from a mile away and she doesn't particularly want to lose control and hurt someone.

Victorie: Doesn't get involved for the same reasons as Dolores.

Kayla: Wishes she could get involved, but doesn't, since she thinks it might be a trap.

Dori: Takes the form of some famous pop star and starts singing and dancing on the top of a small hill nearby, distracting the muggers just long enough for Rae to knock them out.

Ellis: Going behind Rae as not to scare her with their true angelic form, they go all "BE NOT AFRAID" on the muggers, scaring them shitless, before using their miraculous powers to fix Rae's nose and any other injuries she may have sustained.

Gabi: Doesn't get involved, but calls the authorities, since there's not much help that Gabi could offer.

Can you please do headcanons for the Elsen with a puppeteer who likes to pick them up and hold them? :)

Gladly! As per usual, I kinda differentiated between the Elsen from the different zones, so I hope that's alright! But the again, I suppose that just means more writing! Either way, I wanna pick up an Elsen and gib him a big smoochie on the forehead :')

Elsen with a Player that likes to Pick them up

At first they’ll be a bit confused. No one has ever really picked them up before, so why would anyone want to do so in the first place? Sure, Enoch in zone 3 might do so from time to time, but that is for intimidation purposes only, as well as something not every Elsen has experienced. Therefore those ones would react a bit differently, more worried at first, than the ones from the other two zones.

They’d be very stiff at first, afraid they would be listening to another sermon by their director, even after they saw that it was only you. Give it some time, once they realise that being lifted into the air doesn’t always mean that danger is imminent they’ll come to appreciate it just as much as the others. They’ll be calm too and come to like it eventually.

As for the ones addicted to sugar, they’ll be more calm from the very beginning, as long as you let them go during one of their stronger cravings. Though, you will likely feel them twitch and shake more than others while you hold them. They’ll also be more talkative than other Elsen.

The ones from zone two will be very worried at first. Depending on how tall you are, they may or may not tell you to put them down as they might fall at an unfortunate angle when you drop them and die. Of course, you would never do that, but that’s just how they are. Some of them would thrash around ever so slightly to have you let them go, while others would just freeze up.

It would take them the longest to warm up to the idea of being picked up and held. Though, no matter how much time passes, they will always cling onto you for dear life. Old habits die hard and leaving behind anxieties like those is as well.

As for the ones in zone one: they won’t mind. They’ll be a bit surprised at first, again, no one really picks anyone up since they’re all tiny and the guardians are rather mean. Sure, they’ll ask you what you’re doing, but that’s about it. If you catch them during a break, they might even come up to you and ask you to hold them. During their working hours they might get a bit stressed out since they have tasks to fulfil.

Now onto the part where they’ve grown accustomed to being picked up:

The Elsen are touch starved little critters that shy away from anything that isn’t a formal handshake. So please do them the favour of picking them up, it helps them a lot. Physical contact is proven to reduce stress and anxiety and help prolong one’s lifespan, it’s no different for them.

While not all of them will outright ask you to pick them up, a good majority will. You are the beloved Puppeteer, helping in keeping them safe from the spectres. Surely, you have the time to pick up an Elsen or two and make them feel safe. Gives them the energy to get through the day as well.

Of course, one or two Elsen turn into one or two hundred, all of which want nothing more than to be close to you. Get ready for a real cuddle-and-holding fest once you’ve acquired enough of their trust.

Also, that's a lie, I finished the episode hours ago lol. I have since looked at hsmtmts posts and tiktoks, read a fanfic, and rewatched several scenes (mainly in the finale) xd. I was too in shock but I need to start this lol

First of all, I just- that was the perfect finale. Plenty of the show (looking at you season 2 /lh), satisfying ends for the couples (barely on Jetney but you know we take what we can get lol), amazing music, and everyone's staying together :'). I can't express how much this show means to me <3. I'll have a separate post where I'm SUPER sentimental, but right now I can have some too :'). Anyway, I loved the episode so so SO much <3333.

The cast are all such wonderful singers and the songs are all so well put together and beautifully written :')). I am so grateful for all of the amazing music of this show <3333. Don't even talk to me about any of the songs this episode, I'm still not okay over them :')). Special shout out to For Good for being most likely from the cast :')). And being one last reference, as it relates to Miss Jenn's offer <3. The meta show gets one more meta moment :'))) <3333.

This episode was so amazing. It was, quite possibly, the perfect finale <333. Obviously, I have things I wish happened, in this episode and in the season and show as a whole. But it told the story. And it told it well :')). It gave these characters an immensely satisfying ending, and, more importantly in this case? A happy one :'). They deserved that <333. And we deserved to be shown that we can. Especially theatre kids <33 ❤️. And still, amongst all these emotions, they still managed to make this episode HILARIOUS :'DDD. I can't with them, this show is too good xD. I LOVED THIS EPISODE SO, SO, SO, SO MUCH <33333 ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰!!!!!!

It's been over 12 hours since I finished the episode. It's hit me a couple of times that this was it, but it hasn't truly sunk in yet xd. I don't know if it ever will lol. But, for this being it? It was an amazing way to go <333 ❤️.

This show means so much to me. I've been emotional and sentimental this whole time x'd, and as I've said, I'll make a separate post about this, but I have to say it here. The Legendary Life of Queen Lau (2022, my first cdrama, damn the ppl who brought this one down, will probably rewatch because now I get more about the cdrama tropes they subvert, Li Jiaqi hopefully will get more main roles despite this debacle)

Love Between Fairy and Devil (2022, tumblr loves it for good reason, so good, well written and gorgeous costumes and scenery, I laughed, I cried, I shaked my fist at communication failures, learned to like Yu Shuxin's voice, who doesn't like a story about a demon lord who lost all his emotions and regains them with the help of a cute fairy, cultivation in several senses xD, some songs made it to my spotify 100 most played songs of 2022 list, will rewatch now that it is on Netflix)

Word of Honor (2021, the hype has a reason it is so goood, started out not liking WKX, how the tables turned, hahahaha, side characters who rock, morally grey main characters yay, "A'Shuuuu", you don't need on screen kisses to feel the love, character dump was confusing as hell, somehow missed that WKX is also boss of Ghost Valley in the beginning bc of that. 🤣🙈 Taught me to rewatch the first episode a little bit into the drama to actually get what's going on when there are a lot of characters.)

Old Fashion Cupcake (2022, my first jdrama, cute office romance about finding joy in life again, will make you hungry)

The Rational Life (2021, watch it if you want soft, caring, loyal WH but it is actually about Qin Lan's character overcoming bullying at work and being a model employee in a car company (and promoting e-cars 😄), could have been shorter)

The Blue Whisper (2022, wrecked me with all the suffering but so good and pretty, Ren Jialun going from cutiepie to badass, rocking his ear jewellery, red flags but you ship them anyway, Diliraba and Guo Xiao Ting, another talk it out already yelling at the screen drama, going from hating SML and his attendand to pitying them, LuoLuo 🫶, side characters you will root for, some songs made it to my spotify 100 most played songs of 2022 list, story is by the author who wrote LbFaD, not set in the same universe)

The Romance of Tiger and Rose (2020, Zhao Lusi the Queen, much needed comedy after TBW, loved it, nothing like a writer caught in her own badly written drama world trying to rewrite it while the rules of the world she wrote fight against the rewrites. Su Mu and First Lady just needed to talk to each other aaaargh)

Who rules the World (2022, find yourself a person who looks at you like Hei Fengxi looks at Bai Fengxi, geez Yang Yang, Zhao Lusi is a delight in this, they wrote the two lead characters too perfect??, draws you in with wuxia, gives you a lot of palace drama, including emo first prince who deserved more screen time but they ran out of ideas for him, Writing, editing and fight scenes got worse in the 2nd half of the drama, I guess because the director had to leave, needed to give more side characters a life, the sismance is perfect)

The Untamed (2019, watching to be finished in 2023, I was intimidated by the amount of characters and episodes so only started watching late in the year and am glad I waited because now I know wuxia storytelling better and can fully enjoy it, taught me that you don't need great cgi, sets or fight scenes to tell a compelling story, Wang Yibo 🥹, Xiao Zhan 😼, great side characters)

Semantic Error (2022, my first kdrama, watched it because of this and was not disappointed, enemies to lovers at university, cute quick watch)

The Blood of Youth (2022/2023, just started, the character dump is a lot but it is a romp so far, despite the kinda choppy writing/editing, also geez Youku those youtube subtitles are too fast for my tired eyes)

As someone who enjoys series/movies like the UK North and South, Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, etc, where a small touch or little gestures can already be a big deal, slow burn romances in cdrama fit me perfectly. (The barbie kisses are something to get used to though. Props to Wang Hedi and Yu Shuxin who went for organic kisses once the feelings hit their characters.)

there’s this dude in band (alto sax) who i’ll call Ass for privacy or whatever. we first met in 7th grade and he basically decided to hate me. it started off with light teasing. i’m perfectly fine and endorse light teasing, but i didn’t really tease back. it got worse over 8th grade and definitely over summer marching band. Ass has the balls to hate me to my face, but still.

my friend who’s also in band wants me to tell the director and get him kicked. my argument is snitches-get-stitches and i don’t think it’ll get Ass kicked. we plan to tell the director tuesday (idk what day or time that is for you. idk your time zone) but i’m scared to.

i can take Ass in a fight, i’ll beat him in like 3 seconds, but i dont want his friends to spread rumors abt me for it. most everyone in band hates Ass anyway. what should i do?? sorry for that super long ask that was more like a vent.

I officially first met you back in November of 2021. Introduction was quite weird. I was a total piece of shit back then. Didn’t care for no one. All life was then, was just work, home, husband and my two kids. Minded mine and mine only. Amber, my Director at the time had me busy as soon as I clocked in. That day, I was told that I couldn’t go over my hours for the week but somehow, some way I always went into overtime. In this line of work, requires me always running back and forth.

Amber: “Take this car around back to Danny to get the windshield replaced.”

Me: “Who’s Danny? What happened to Mo?”

Amber: “Mo left remember? Apparently, Danny is one of Jimmy’s guys. Remember, Katelyn? The one that used to work Receptionist before you moved to CRM? She dated him remember?”

Me: “Kinda, not really but okay, where’s the car parked at?” Brushing off conversations like that were easy.

The RAV4 smelt like the previous owner smoked a pack of Malboro a day. I remembered only cause my late Aunt smoked those. My attitude back then, you all would’ve hated me. Being a total bitch for no reason was the attitude I thought was right.

Parked and jumped right out of the car and on I walked into the Back Shop, where you were.

Walked past Alvaro, our tint guy, “What’s up Al?” His, always short and simple responses were, “Hey, how’s it going.”

I could hear someone’s deep, somewhat proper dialect through the door. I knocked three times per usual.

“Come in.” Stern was a part of your tone. Before, I could turn the knob, the door flew open. Two others, standing around the desk. Your now desk. All eyes on me. Felt a little intimidated but I looked away and wiggled my way inside.

There you were. Sitting where Mo used to sit. Black Toyota polo, clean haircut, blue-tired eyes.

“Sup Kat? Whatchu doing back here?” Carl says.

“I’m here to drop off a car.”

“Ah. Sounds about right.”

“Amber told me to drop this RAV4 off for you.” Shit, I totally forgot my P’s and Q’s.

“Um, okay… for….” your voice got soft what the fuck?

You threw me off. “Uh tint.. I mean windshield replacement.”

“Oh okay, I will get it taken care of ma’am.”

Ma’am? Me? Oh yeah, right, I’m a woman.

“Okay, thanks.”

Shut the door right behind me.

Guys, before you judge me. That was how I was then, not now.

I didn’t feel anything. From there, I’d see you only when you’d walk through the doors by my desk. Whether it’d be through the back doors or the entrance doors. Or walking by Amber’s office to drop off keys to us.

You were quite invisible. Tried to be but how could you be walking throughout a building with your sunglasses on?

Sales girls would be quick to ask as soon as you’d walk by “Who is that?” and my responses were always, “He’s the new Mo in the Back Shop.”

Didn’t care. You paid no attention then neither. Not that I wanted you to. Back in September all the way to November I’d been my heaviest I’ve ever been, 196lbs.

Towards the beginning of this year, 2022, I saw you too frequently. Amber made it clear to only bring keys to me or to set them on her desk. You’d reach over my desk, I say “You can just drop them.” You’d stare, drop the keys and then walk off.

Around this time, things were getting bad for Amber. Complaining. Her continuous, “I do too much, I’ve already started applying for jobs. This place would burn without me. They’ll be fucked.”

Did I mention it was January? Yes. The month before my birthday month. Fun.

In the month of February, things were hectic. Amber made me her right hand. Only working on We Owes. Little did I know how stressful it was going to be for me. Her previous right hand, Izzy, left all the work. Over a hundred different We Owes all for Kat to work on.

You went missing around this month.. I remember Amber saying you had gotten arrested. I know, YIKES. Didn’t question it much then neither.

February 22nd. That’s right, 02.22.2022. My birthday.

During this week of, Amber blamed everything on me. I was stressed. Things going on at home with my daughter Mina, a miscarriage I had no idea of. Just hectic. I hated life.

Marriage was crumbling.. everything was. Everything was perfect to everyone else but me. My mental health, disintegrating. 

Towards the end of March.. you reappeared. Didn’t notice you were back. Until I walked into Amber’s office to tell her some tea.

You stood next to Amber behind her desk. In the corner of her office was a chair. You plopped down and made yourself comfy— even Amber was surprised. You sat there and listened to the whole overdramatized story. I don’t remember details but at some point, you laughed and put your two cents in. You said “I am not the one ma’am.” and I argued back, “I’m not the one!”

It’s crazy to think that what comes along after that, would happen.

Before, you’d just drop off keys. Mimic me. Little giggles. You walked off always, like you were hot shit.

In the mornings now, during that time you’d bring keys but made a little effort to sit down next to me or behind me on top of the long desk. Made small conversation. I didn’t understand it then. I did lose more weight. At this point, I started to drift farther from my husband. I wanted nothing to do with him. Only because I felt.. nothing. You see, Brian was everything years ago but our love got so cold I began to feel nothing but hate.

My mind. My mind was in a black hole. Always wandering. Too intrusive, unbearable.

I told Brian countless time that I wanted to disappear. I wanted to die. To him, since depression wasn’t something that was real. As always, he brushed my warnings under a carpet and let the dust build. Sounds cliché but that’s what happened.

That’s how Brian pushed me farther.

Of April 1st, 2022, the firm decided, Amber had to move. They moved her to Accounting instead of firing her. Her mistake, was talking all her problems and shit to the wrong people.

It sucked. I, for some reason, made it alive. They moved my position to it’s own department and made me a Manager. YAY. So fun.. it wasn’t. The clean up was horrible. For some reason, you knew I was having a hard time adjusting.

That first week of April, I was sad, confused. I didn’t know where to start.

You gave me your first awkward hug. I was overwhelmed that day. Wanted to cry honestly.

We had to exchange numbers only for the sake of keys. It was only for keys.

Then the alert popped up while I was laying on my couch where I soaked in all my feelings.

“Danny Back Shop added you a friend!”

I shouldn’t right? Ugh, fuck it. What could the ‘mysterious Danny from the Back Shop’ post on Snapchat? Wouldn’t hurt. We’re coworkers. Fuck it.
