Anyone remember that cozy little indie game Kind Words? You write letters to other real people, ask for advice on your problems, give others advice and support on their problems, and collect stickers. It became massively popular for a while, and deservedly so. It was a rare example of a place where the players were genuinely positive and kind. I never saw a single bit of toxicity there.

Well, there's a sequel! Kind Words 2 has everything from the original game PLUS they've added lots of stuff players talked about wanting, but that wouldn't have fit in the original. You can go outside now and have short, anonymous conversations with real people. There's a spot just for requesting and giving media recommendations. There's a cafe to perform and listen to poetry. In the forest, you can make chains of thoughts on a topic. There's plenty more, but the point is, it's wonderful. I just got it on sale and it's been really lovely. I've been super stressed lately and feeling isolated, and just spending an hour or so writing kind letters to people helps a lot.

The only problem is, this sequel hasn't blown up the way the original did. Not many people are actually playing it, despite the universally positive reviews. I don't know why this is, but a game like this needs players to be successful and fun - and the devs need to sell enough copies to be able to keep making lovely games like this.

Popcannibal has announced simulation game sequel Kind Words 2 (lofi city pop) for PC (Steam). It will launch in 2024.

“We made Kind Words 2 because there aren’t enough online spaces where strangers can be fearlessly open and caring without worrying about likes, subscribes, followers, and any other garbage that gets in between people just talking to each other,” said Popcannibal founder Ziba Scott in a press release.

hey guys! tonight i wanted to tell you about a really important game to me. it's called Kind Words.

i've made it a tradition to play this at least once a night as often as i can. it is my momfriend writer time

in this 5 dollar game, you write and receive anonymous letters from other players. the more you do so, the more stickers you get to put on your letters, which in turn also become decorations for your writing rooms!

there are a LOT of stickers

and a handful of different rooms too :)

the requests are vetted, it seems like a lot of young struggling people, and i try to make an effort to send words to at least 5 while i'm playing. this is the first one i saw tonight so here i go!!

it's not my best work but let's make sure they get a sticker!! if they don't have the one i give them, it'll become their newest decoration!

anyway, i just really love this game. i have for a while and i had to let somebody know. i got to beta test for kind words 2 which is now out as well! it's a much steeper price for me right now so i can't buy the full experience, but i will eventually and end up doing the same tradition for that game too i'm sure.
