The whole school is enjoying some rest. Dumbledore invited the few students and professors still there to come for dinner later than usual, dressed nicely.

You're in your quarters, picking what you'll be wearing. Of course you have what you need ! Your favorite outfit with your favorite color, plus it's comfortable and warm enough, you don't even hesitate

The real difficulty was to try to distract yourself a whole day before the dinner.

You've never really liked Christmas, you've never hated it either but it wasn't the big event for you. Until you came to Hogwarts. Everything is so... magical here ! Magical snow falling from the ceilings. Magical trees decorated with magical lights. Magical candles floating around. Magic

You looked around your quarters. You've been teaching Muggle Studies here for 3 years now. Minerva is a good friend of yours, she forgot her scarf on your chair at the desk where she spent some time chatting with you the day before. Albus turned out to be the person you felt like you could tell everything to, you weren't that close but he was always there when you needed to talk. Poppy was a good friend too. The whole teaching staff was absolutely delighted with you.

Except the dungeon bat of course, but you were almost certain that he had a soft spot for you. Rarely shouting at you. Accepting your company sometimes. Taking remarks. When the stars were aligned. A real softie. 

You smiled while thinking about all of this.

You occupied yourself with some class preparations, late marking, reading and a damn lot of tea.

When the sun went down, you took it as a signal to begin dressing up. You always felt so confident in that outfit ! The color really suited you, made your smile shine even more, you even found yourself stunning which was pretty good for your self esteem !

Hearing the students moving around, you left your room, following your path in the hallways to Minerva's quarters. You knocked as you always did : 2 times and 2 times again with just a second between them. She opened almost immediately, wearing a green dress that fitted her pretty well. You complimented her and she complimented you as well. Both chuckling, you started walking to the Great Hall, ready for the big night.

None of you really paid attention to the students that were overexcited, talking really loud, laughing even louder. You all needed this.

Taking a sit at the professor's table, you watched in front of you. Instead of the usual 4 separated tables, Dumbledor had moved them to make a big U. That's cool, they'll be with all their friends tonight you thought. And taking a look at the professors you noticed you weren't with all your friends.

"Where's Snape ?" You asked Minerva.

She looked around before responding

"No idea. Maybe he's late ?"

"Snape ? Late ? Are you kidding me ?"

You both knew it wasn't a possibility. Either Severus Snape was early or he wasn't coming. There were no in between.

A hand brushed your shoulder and Dumbledore was next to you the second after.

"I fear we miss someone there, would you mind going to see him ?"

"No, of course Albus, I'm on my way."

You gave Minerva a quick wave of your hand before leaving the table. The students watched you leaving, you heard some compliments about how nice you looked and some questions about where you were going but didn't really paid attention.

The way to Severus Snape's quarters was almost the same as the way leading to Potion Class, you just had to go further in the corridor, deeper in the dark, and there you were : at the very end of this, was a door. Just a door, the wood was a bit darker than all the other doors of the castle, but it was just a door. And Severus Snape lived on the other side of this door.

Come on, he's not going to bite you, he's just late and probably in a terrible mood because of that but it's okay.

You knocked. Your usual. 2 and 2.

Nobody answered but you could hear someone was in there.

You knocked again. 2 and 2.

"You know I'm gonna come in anyway, right ?" You tried

And this time the door opened. Severus Snape was towering you, obviously pretty pissed.

"What ?" He spat

You looked at him and you knew he wasn't wearing his usual outfit but couldn't really point out what was different.

"You weren't at the table. Albus asked me to come find you. So... here I am ?"

He looked annoyed but invited you to come in.

"I just can't properly tie this tie and I'm going insane, trying and trying again. So unless you know how to do it, I'm not going anywhere."

A tie. That's what was different.

"I shouldn't laugh right now, right ?"

"I'd prefer you not."

"....okay I'll try my best then."

You were almost suffocating trying to not burst in laugh. A TIE. HE WOULD GIVE UP ON CHRISTMAS DINNER FOR A TIE.

Without a word you came close to him, taking his tie, putting it around your own neck, tying it and putting it back around his own neck. You did that without  really minding it, your hands working by themselves. He looked stunned.

"There, you just have to tighten it up now."

He wasn't moving, just looking at you.

"I just... okay, let me..."

You did it, placed it correctly and closed his jacket before taking a few steps back to look at him.

Black shirt, black jacket, black tie, black pants, black cloak. Black.

"I... can't let you look like a dementor. Not tonight. Not for Christmas. Nope. Not on my watch."

Without even asking, you went to his bedroom and searched through all his belongings. Black, black, black, oh and some black too ! Great.

"You really don't own anything more... something less... Black ?"

"No. Why would I ?"

"Why don't you ?" You shot back, not waiting for an answer "okay, let me think."

You came back to him and took your wand. He stiffened, but knew you didn't meant any harm -otherwise he would have hexed you instantly- so he waited.

He could feel the magic operating. His clothes changing around his body.

"Do you like it ?" you asked when it was over

Snape turned to see his reflection in the mirror and was he saw was... stunning.

The black suit now had a deep dark shade of green with silvery snakes around the seams. The cape had the same shade of green on the outside but the inside was a shiny silver and it was so fluid he started to think it was pure liquid. His shirt was a green lighter than the rest of the outfit. All of it looked beautiful, with tiny snakes here and there. It was perfect

"I... don't know what to say" he whispered

"Do you like it ?"

"Yes.." 

"Good, now let's go get dinner or we'll be so late there will be nothing left for us to eat !"

You shot him a smile and he nodded, closing his mouth and blushing lightly.

Both of you walked silently to the Great Hall. You noticed he had matched your steps, walking slower than his usual. It was nice. The silence was comfortable, you could see him look at his clothes, watching his cloak swirling around him and it pleased you that he seemed to like it. As you approached your destination, the corridors became warmer and brighter, the muffled sound of conversations could be heard, and you soon reached the last door. You were about to push it open when you heard your colleague say something, too low for you to really hear it

"I'm sorry ?" You asked, genuinely not having heard his words

"I said... thank you. For that." He gestured around his clothes

"Oh. That's nothing Snape, really. You don't need to thank me, everyone deserves to feel amazing for Christmas ! I hope you feel amazing. You're stunning like that, really."

You shot a smile to hide the fact that you talk too much when you're nervous. And you were nervous. You weren't expecting to be thanked, furthermore thanked by him

"You can call me Severus, you know ?"

You locked your gaze with his. You said nothing but you nodded, smiling again.

"Shall we ?" He asked, showing the door

"Yep, I'm starving Severus"

His name rolled on your tongue, it was something new. It sounded good. Better than Snape. Closer too.

When you crossed the door, the silence shocked you. All the eyes were directed to you and Snape. Because you were late mostly. But also because of your outfits. Ignoring it, you walked to your sit, followed by your colleague. You heard some comments on you, been there, heard that already and it was nice. But you also heard comments on Severus' outfit. That's new you thought. 

Taking back your seat next to Minerva, Snape took the one at your other side. Not because it was the last one, as some of your colleagues were on vacation, so maybe he wanted to be there. Sweet.

Minerva commented to you about how wonderfully you've worked with him. Obviously she knew he wouldn't have picked this outfit by himself and she knew you well enough to know you came up with this look. Albus seemed pleased too. He nodded to you when your eyes met eventually. And he smiled too. A smile that kinda meant "I-know-what-you-did-that's-cool-I-hoped-you'll-finally-befriend-him-for-merlin's-sake". As he was the person you were always speaking openly to, he knew you were intrigued by Snape. And truly you were. You wanted to break the shell of rudeness and roughness to find what's deep inside.

And you knew you had a chance, as you were one of the only persons he tolerated sometimes, listened to, often, and even accepted criticism of. If the stars were aligned. But still. You were curious about him. 

And this dinner fed you with way more than food.

Quickly after you sat back, the conversations began again. Children are children, they're so easy to distract. And food was a distraction good enough to make them forget about you and Severus.

Severus.

You've never heard him talk that much. Maybe he talked more during this meal than in the three past years you've spent teaching in the same school.

Christmas miracle.

Mostly talking about work at first, you ended up talking about your respective lives, friends, family -you talked a lot about your muggle parents- and you learned a lot about each other.

Sometimes he seemed to clam up again, when you asked about certain things or when Minerva tried to enter the conversation but she seemed to understand that and quickly backed up, talking to other professors or just eating silently. You knew she was listening, it was pretty obvious, but honestly, you couldn't have cared less, she already knew everything about you as you spent a lot of time talking with her in the 3 years you were at Hogwarts, teaching and befriending almost everyone.

And now you were at the point where the last person you weren't counting as one of your friends was just next to you, telling you almost everything you wanted to hear about him.

"You never dated anyone ? I mean, there's plenty of fish in the sea... really ? Never ?"

"I... Kinda married my job. Let's say that."

"I know we spend most of our lives here, in the castle, but... During the holidays ? You have nobody to return to ?"

"Do you ?"

"...Okay, good point. But I had love stories. It just didn't worked, i'm not against it."

Severus looked at you in a strange way, you didn't really understood what his eyes were telling, but you felt a bit uncomfortable. You felt you crossed a line.

"I had one. Went pretty bad. Never tried again. End of the story."

You felt Minerva's elbow lightly touching yours. You knew it meant you were in a dangerous area but you were too curious for your own good.

"Is there by chance a universe where you tell me this story ?"

He stiffened, the same way he did when you pointed your wand at him. Did he felt threatened ?

"I don't think so."

He was clamming up again. You were losing him but didn't really knew what to say now. You both started eating in silence, the dinner was slowly ending as the plates were mostly empty.

Midnight was there, announced by the giant clock of the main hall. A sweet ringing sound emerged from the big christmas tree that was hanging in a corner of the room.

It was now surrounded by presents !

"I think we all still have a bit of energy to give to a present opening, don't we ?" Asked Dumbledore loudly

Everyone started to cheer, the students hopped from their seats and hurged to the tree, checking the names on every present under the careful eyes of their teachers.

When everybody had found the present destined to them and backed from the tree to open it, the teachers came too, inspecting what was let for them. Minerva took the responsibility of finding and giving each gift to his recipient.

Dumbledore found a good pair of socks.

"We always need more socks" he said, perfectly happy

Minerva had a new hat, she replaced her own immediately with a soft smile. You were responsible for this gift.

Severus opened the box far from the others, said nothing and closed it back, not showing an ounce of joy or deception.

You took the gift waiting in front of you and opened it carefully. A piece of fabric was in it. It was soft, fluid, in the color scheme of your Hogwarts House.

Your Secret Santa wasn't what you could have called "creative" but at least, they had taste. You liked it and decided to put it around your neck, appreciating the nice feeling of the fabric.

"Would you mind... turning back my clothes ?"

The voice behind you made you jump. Severus was near. Everyone was going to bed, the room was almost empty, there were just a few students left and Minerva, making sure nobody was trying to stay up all night.

"Oh, yeah, of course ! You're sure you don't want to keep it ? I mean, you have a lot of backup clothes, you could keep this nice outfit ?"

"I don't have many occasions to wear this."

It was hopeless, you could see in his eyes he was determined to have his usual outfit back.

"May I walk you back to your quarters so I can enjoy my creation a bit more ?"

"...I guess."

It was so cold. Because of the temperature of course, late at night on this side of the castle, but it was even colder between you and the professor. He was walking a bit in front of you, a bit quicker than you, absolutely not like earlier.

"I'm sorry." you muttered

Severus stopped walking and you stopped too. He didn't turn towards you though.

"I can't do this." He said flatly

"What do you mean ?"

Were you supposed to come closer ? Were you supposed to do something ? It was always so difficult to know how to act with this man.

"You want something I can't give. You want me to tell stories I'm not ready to tell. You want me to become someone else, someone I'm not. Someone lovable, someone... I'm not made for love. Hardly for friendship. Don't ask me to change, I will not."

"I didn't-"

"I know what you did all night. Asking me stuff, making me talk about me. I saw Minerva giving you those elbow indications. I'm not dumb."

"Severus."

He stopped his ramblings, turning to look at you.

"I... don't want anything from you. I don't know what makes you think that, but I just helped you look nice for tonight. I just wanted to know more about you, because it's been YEARS and I still have a bit of hope you're a human too. I just... I wanted to make friends ! And yes, tonight I started to... I started to have a crush on you ! Until you decided to become all sad and dark again, because I asked a question I obviously shouldn't have. But I couldn't know that, because I don't know you."

He took a step back, trying his best to not meet your eyes. His gaze fell on your scarf.

"You like it." he said suddenly

"Yes."

"I had trouble finding something that would fit."

"It was you ?"

He was fidgeting with a wick of his hair.

"I'm bad at this. Bonding. Dealing with other people's feelings. I've always been. You're... easier to tolerate."

"...thank you I guess."

"I'm not the type of person that has many friends and is happy with it. I have my potions, my books, my job and that's all I need. But I think I can put some effort into trying to be easier to deal with."

"I don't understand Severus. It's late, I'm tired, disappointed and you're not making it easy right now"

He invited you to start walking again, staying silent at first but then building up the courage to talk

"I was worried. I still am. Because I'm a bad friend and a worse lover. I tend to just push back anyone trying to bond with me. It's better for everyone."

"How long has it been ?"

"What ?"

"How long has it been since you had your last friend ? A true friend I mean. Someone you can count on. Someone you can tell everything to."

"something like 30 years."

"That's a lot. What happened ?"

"She died. My fault."

You knew it was the thing. By the look in his eyes, it was the thing he didn't want to talk about earlier.

“Do you want to talk about it ?”

“No. Not right now. I can’t.”

“I understand.”

And now what ?

“So… You’re sure you want me to turn back your clothes ? Those are pretty great.”

“Yes, I like what you did but I need them back. My tie was a present.”

“I could just change another tie so you would have your original tie back AND you could keep this amazing outfit !”

“I… Actually I didn’t think about it but I guess it would be perfect.”

Now, it was better. Talking was simple again, you could feel Severus relax and you both spent the last minutes of your walk talking together. You even heard him laugh, just a small laugh, a shy laugh. the laughter of someone never laughing out loud. Heartwarming.

Finally, too soon for you, the door of Severus’ quarters was in front of you. This was the end of the journey.

He let you come in, just the time to do your magic and change his ties, but you appreciated he didn’t just ask you to leave immediately.

“Here you go !” you said happily, giving him back his original tie and the new one matching the outfit he still had “I’m happy you decided to keep it. I really like what I did there !”

“Thank you.”

“you’re welcome !”

“You know I… I’d like to know you. I can’t promise we could be more than friends. But at least I want to try.”

“I’d love that” you said lightly 

He was obviously tired, his social battery was empty. Just before you turned to go back to your own room, something incredible happened : Severus took your arm, slowly so you wouldn’t be afraid, and drew you to him into a hug.

Just a hug.

But you felt like it was something huge for him, and it was something for you too.

“Merry Christmas” He whispered

“Merry Christmas, Severus” you smiled back

It was indeed a merry Christmas night for the both of you.

-LUCIFER. He’s so pathetic I love him

-Jeremy Jordan you fucking legend. I’m a big fan of a lot of his work and was excited to see him in this but I was slightly unsure if he was the right casting since I expected Lucifer to be more of a high and mighty/snobby figure, but with the way they characterised him HE IS PERFECT.

-The Lucifer vs Alastor rivalry is beautiful

-HIS EARS GO BACK LIKE A CAT WHEN HES ANGRY I CANT

-MIMZY’S ARRIVAL. I know most of us know the lore about her and Alastor being developed as a couple before it was scrapped but I really like how they are in the show

-Even if it’s just crumbs I’m so excited to be getting snippets of Alastor’s lore. It’s wild to keep going back and forth between “aw he actually cares for and protects his friends” and “oh my god he’s a fucking psycho”

-Speaking of that the scene with Husk holy shit. Poor man looked terrified

-The confirmation that Alastor’s also stuck working for someone, it has to be Lilith surely. I know some people will call it predictable because a lot of theories are coming true but personally I think it’s from good worldbuilding/foreshadowing

-Idk how I feel about the timeskip between Ep 4&5, they’re only a month away from the extermination now. Yes it’s making the stakes feel higher but I do wish we’d been able to see more of that time for the relationship development, all the characters seem much closer than before and we’ve only seen bits of how they got there

-I really wish they’d greenlit more than 8 episodes to pace things a little better but I’m glad we have season 2 confirmed

-That last minute ‘reveal Vaggie’s past to Charlie, boot them out of heaven and then cut to credits before she can react’ is gonna torture me until next week

-I don’t disagree with past criticism that Vivzie’s female characters can feel a bit underwritten but I think it’s getting better

AITA for coming out as bi to my girlfriend and voicing my concerns to her

I (18M) have been dating my girlfriend, L (20F) for three years now. our relationship has been great so far, we were attracted to each other from the start. she has always been very flirty and tbh that's how she won me over at first, because teenage hormones are gonna teenage hormones y'know, but when I got to know her better as a person I realized my feelings for her weren't just sexual - she is kind, gentle, overall really sweet. I was, and still am, attracted to her in every way. L is also openly bisexual, fully out, and idk I've always felt so safe around her because she doesn't judge others, I think she's so beautiful inside and out. she has been my first girlfriend ever so I always do my best to be supportive and make her feel loved.

a few months ago I realized I'm bi. I thought, hey, since she always speaks about her own bisexuality I think I can tell her I'm bi as well. she was, as usual, very non-judgemental but she said something that I didn't like, something like "you see how much I love and trust you? someone else would've been like OMG YOU'RE PROBABLY JUST GAY AND YOU WANT TO CHEAT ON ME WITH A GUY". I was,, confused bc 1. I think supporting your partner when they come out is the bare minimum, 2. she is bisexual herself and I don't think shes gonna cheat on me with a girl, I never acted like I was great for supporting her and 3. I know I'm not gay because L can do whatever she wants with me so I dunno what that comment was for. I've enjoyed my intimate encounters with her too much to be gay and she knows this.

I was a bit annoyed but still grateful that she was supportive. I noticed our sexual activities increased after that and a part of me wondered if she was trying to make sure I'm not gay. which made her look like a bit of a hypocrite because she never had to "prove" to me that she's not gay. not complaining tho - I just found it odd? I think it's a weird double standard, but then again I know women are always putting up with double standards so I feel like I can't tell her abt how strange her comment was. I just don't want L to think I'm not attracted to her and I started feeling like an asshole for telling her I'm bi.

but she got actually upset over something else that has nothing to do with us being bi - when we first started talking, she was dating another guy. I knew this, so I was respectful, I thought that L being flirty with me was some kind of joke until she told me she was serious and she couldn't stop thinking about me. L didn't cheat on him, she broke up with him before she started dating me, and recently I told her "hey... I won't be that guy one day, right? I trust you and I know you won't cheat on me, but I remembered how our friendship first started and if you ever stop loving me I would like to know before you feel ignored enough to start flirting with other guys". she got very visibly upset, she said I was right, said she felt cheap and like a whore and ???? NOT AT ALL WHAT I FUCKING MEANT. I was trying to tell her I want us to have communication, because I love her and I want our relationship to work out.

I feel like a shitty person and boyfriend, first for telling her I'm bi even though it wouldn't have an impact on our relationship, then for trying to voice my concerns and accidentally making her feel that way.

I've apologized a few times and we're good now but she introduced me to her best friend and,, this girl just started talking abt how she will guide me so I can properly take care of L? it made me feel really stupid. I felt like a child tbh. we are bi but not poly (I respect those who are, just giving you context) so idk why she felt she had to insert her friend into our relationship. am I really so bad that my girlfriend has to ask her friend to teach me how to be good to her? I would understand this if L had some sort of disability but her friend just talks to me about BDSM and doms/subs and like ??? To answer your question, I like this excerpt from the old novels to explain how I think Trouble can be in a romance: I usually envision him being casual or friendly and light-hearted, and then catching onto something--some shift in the mood or a lingering glance--and then kind of abruptly shifting into a more intense version of himself. It's not a side of himself he shows very often--we're mostly exposed to the goofy, jocular Trouble, but that 'intense' dominant Trouble is there, lurking underneath it all, and that's kind of the part that he struggles with because it's also tied up in his ferocious past and his temper. It's the same Trouble who can go from smiling and laughing with his friends in a bar to completely unsmiling and intimidating when he overhears some guy being a dickhead to a server nearby, except obviously in these scenarios it's sexual/romantic tension he's responding to (even if he doesn't fully know it's that) rather than regular like situational tension. I don't know if you have access to the alpha build, but the scene in the cave in Chapter 7 when he's warming up MC's hands or the abrupt change from "yay we're having fun" to "something just happened" in his latest day off (when Cordy flirts with you) are good examples of this, too! This sort of stilted "everything is great 95% of the time and then 5% of the time something happens and he can't control it" that's impeding him and MC's easy friendship is what's really throwing Trouble for a loop; he starts to feel guilty and confused and tormented about it because he thinks he's the only one feeling these things and getting in the way of what should be a smooth companionship, so he's just... feeling a lot of things and not knowing what to do with them, lol.

So I imagine 'heated makeout' tends to happen during one of these sudden changes to 'intense Trouble,' when he catches on to something he can't ignore--but I generally don't think it happens because of an outright flirtation or hint of MC's, because he can usually just laugh those off as them just joking around, so he doesn't really respond to those like one might expect? He's dazzlingly good at not catching on to things like that (short of an outright serious confession), so maybe that's why you're having trouble imagining it! I tend to imagine it happening entirely randomly, during some moment of unthinking intimacy, like in the cave in Chapter 7 or during a mission when emotions are high or something like that. Here's another example of what I'm thinking of!

...Or something like that, idk lol! Obviously take all of this with a huge grain of salt and don't let me influence you; however you write Trouble and MC's romance is fantastic! Hopefully some of these tips help you in some way!

the horcrux hunt by lostmy_keys - this is one of my favorite fics of all time. regulus (reluctantly) teams up with remus to hunt horcruxes. it is regulus centric but also remus, MOSTLY platonic moonwater (which if u like burning and buried i assume u like) but they are quite flirty....which may not be your cup of tea, but as someone who has had a flirty close platonic friendship or two i LOVED. slowburn ANGSTY wolfstar. honestly, i might reread this one now that i've been talking about it. so fucking good.

the cadence of part time poets by motswolo- if you haven't read this, you should. its amazing. if you like slow burn wolfstar, plenty of angst, mentally ill remus lupin, and the best oc's i have ever seen in a fic, this is for you. it is a band au, but mostly it is a boarding school preparing to be in a band au and a freshly starting out band au. extremely long, but extremely worth it.

for the love of ducks by viwrites - UGH anything vi writes i love, but this is a wolfstar sickfic that just sort of scoops up your heart into warm hands and holds it. like, don't get me wrong, it's got angst--but in a comforting way? i love this fic. so fucking much.

saccharine by moonymoment - sirius is a ghost in an apartment remus moves into. i was smiling through this whole fic except for when i was crying.

godlight by Badhairred - this is my fave wip at the moment. it has SUPER regular updates. it's jegulus and wolfstar, and i LIVE for the wolfstar in this fic. their relationship, the buildup, the backstory, UGH. jegulus is fantastic too in this fic, obvi, but since you're asking abt wolfstar...i love them in this fic.

sirius black's second chance by platypus_and_pen - as you might guess from the title this is a bring back black fic in which he goes back in time to his hogwarts days after going through the veil, and he gets to reconnect with not only himself, but his friends, and also HOPEFULLY right some wrongs.

the middle path of moonlight by asheseverafter - this fic is so long, so well written, and has weekly updates. i will warn you that they are STILL quite young (i think 14/15 right now? i'm not entirely sure) as the author is taking their time with each year (Which i love) but the relationship between sirius and remus (while not explicitly shown, builds into fade to black or is vague) is quite.......advanced. i personally, as a 26 year old adult, have to skip over that stuff just for my own comfort, and there is still a fair bit of overtly sexual flirting/jokes which is kind of impossible to skip over so if that isn't something you'll be comfy with then that's totally fair, BUT. that being said, the writing in this fic is absolutely gorgeous, i get jealous every time i read it. and the moonwater friendship is AMAZING and the black brothers/black family dynamics are some of the best i've ever seen and how in love and dedicated wolfstar are the entire time is very sweet.

cupid's chokehold by lollipopluna - also mainly jegulus and also having a good amount of wolfstar, but i had to recommend because it is just. so. good. it is violent and dirty and everyone is a little rough around the edges (putting it lightly) but no one moreso than reg and remus. there hasn't been too terribly much ACTUAL wolfstar bc of the angst and the slow burn aspect but i am so so excited to see where they go, and where jegulus goes, and where platonic (not even. more like reluctant enemies former friends?? I guess??) moonwater goes. the DRAMA. the INTRIGUE. the INTENSITY. its great.

AND last but not least, on a pillow of blue bonnets by kalegreeneyes (me (: ) - sirius is famous and he's spinning out so james and pete and regulus are like GET OUT OF HERE and they ship him off to remus's ranch in montana where lily and marlene live and work too!! and barty and evan are ranch hands! and it's a slow burn! and there are horses! and cowboy remus wielding an axe! the downside is that i haven't updated it in a really long time and the new chapter is slow going ha ha ha ha ha BUT it isn't abandoned and i have the whole fic loosely planned out!!!

Shockingly, is also a close advisor for Freddy. Given that he’s always around for entertainment, he ends up hearing everything anyways. Sometimes has good ideas, sometimes Freddy just laughs and says “what a silly little guy” when he suggests something (once again drives him crazy)

Known to flirt with any nearby maidens, and it would probably work if not for his goofy ass outfit. He curses Freddy’s name for making him dress like a freak.

Foxy:

Pirate turned Knight

Was a highly wanted criminal, as he was very good at being a pirate. When he was eventually caught, Freddy gave him the choice between life in prison, or becoming a knight, as he was skilled in combat.

He actually chose life in prison initially, something about a pirate’s honor or whatever, but Freddy said he could keep his ship if he became a knight, so he couldn’t refuse

Definitely relishes the glory and attention he receives being a knight, but if you ever asked him he’d vehemently deny it- he’ll always be a pirate at heart

He worked his way up the ranks and is now one of the head knights, being the fastest and most agile. He works closely with Freddy, as Freddy values Foxy’s less biased input (all the other nights and guards kiss his ass)

Fiery and a tad dramatic, has many pirate stories to tell (that no one can verify the truth of), and the people somewhat begrudgingly regard him as the strongest warrior in the kingdom other than maybe Freddy himself (if he were to fight that is). Hes capable of getting down to business when needed, but he tends to be a little more on the eccentric side.

However he is chronically clumsy around girls, therefore also subsequently bitchless

okay it’s time i talk about LAZARUS. i just think this is a very underrated episode. cuz where fire showcases the differences between scully & phoebe green, lazarus does the opposite and broadcasts mulder’s & jack willis’s similarities — painting mulder as scully’s ~type~ and it makes me want to scream. it is SO aggressive. and while i think cc didn’t want the romance to overtake the show (he knew very well their relationship & chemistry were extremely important) the fact this episode made it through him & aired is no accident. (also team cc was in love with dd & ga and was just as into mulder & scully as any of us. but he’s stubborn & was too steadfast in not sexualizing ga/scully [mostly] or their relationship but i digress.)

the first scene actually kills me. her conversation with willis sounds so much like one she would have with mulder, and i’m not good at identifying straight flirting whatsoever (mulder & scully do NOT fall into that category lol)

THE WAY SHE LOOKS AT HIM. the way he says this is FLIRTING. and as serious as he can be about it. more him than her but i love it because it’s not about taking it anywhere. it’s the flirting of two people who used to date & know each other & still have a good friendship. like idk, it’s just so sweet. (and like the foreshadowing — as in obviously the whole case but later when mulder is listening to his tapes?? he already didn’t ~have~ his head. AND this is another reason i love this case, because at the end of the day, the viewer gets to decide what the “truth” was. because i think everything lines up for willis being in so deep & the trauma causing his erratic behavior OR it very well could have been dupre as mulder believes.)

what i love about scully is she dated this man, she cares for him, they have maintained some kind of friendship & professional relationship — and it doesn’t seem like she holds anything against him. like she genuinely still likes & cares for him and i love seeing “failed” relationships where there’s no animosity between them. they just. didn’t work out romantically and they accept each other as they are and ??? this actually is a little gay. but anyway. what i really wanted to say was how scully’s sincerity & genuine caring always blow me away. i love her.

SO when dupre shoots willis — scully shoots the man THREE TIMES. and the look on her face. she is absolutely enraged. it wasn’t merely professional. that was personal. (and it pales in comparison to what scully does for mulder but a little taste, showing it’s something consistent with the men in her life.)

i love that anytime scully walks into a medical setting, she acts like she owns the place and she does whatever she has to to override the actual doctors in charge. incredible.

and i extra love this one because obviously she was assisting on this case to help her friend, but not working with mulder is already extremely wrong at this point (after squeeze) that she immediately brings mulder in as soon as she has a good excuse. incredible.

i love every exchange with mulder & scully in this episode because the way the butt heads over theories is just. THEM. and i’m sorry but scully’s make perfect sense & they fit and this coming on the heels of beyond the sea and “i’m afraid to believe” is really special. she’s most afraid to believe (i think?) when it’s close & personal. for her or for mulder. and we get to see the fear up close & personal this time around, and yeah, hidden behind some skepticism but i think this is the first time it’s obvious that it’s fear.

two men died in that crash room, scully. one man came back. the question is…which one?

sometimes it seems like mulder is being an ass, so obsessed with the paranormal & lacking empathy. but really, he only focuses on the paranormal & pushes his theories when he really thinks he’s right (which is a lot of the time, but he is willing to concede [thanks to sculy] when the evidence truly doesn’t line up). and it works because they both compartmentalize and scully needs that on a case like this.

[also, it seems unnatural for scully to call him willis. jack rolls off her tongue so intimately and it feels similar to mulder & scully using their last names. an intimacy for them, and a very private, special intimacy when they use each other’s first name. they don’t typically let anyone hear them say it. do you know what i mean? the way they make names so personal & intimate on this show is kinda wild to me. especially interesting in season two when mulder meets her family.]

the humor when they go see dr. varnes is top tier. he tells the story about the pilot (a truly horrible thing) and mulder just says “that’s a nice story” lmaoooo

(i also always want to know if the science is accurate. scully talking about near death experiences? what varnes says about the burst of energy? i know absolutely nothing about any science but god i wish that was a special interest of mine sometimes lol)

do you believe he’s predisposed to this type of psychotic episode?

i believe it’s a long way from saying jack had a near-death experience to saying his body’s been inhabited by warren dupre…a long way

like. we see mulder open up about his personal life, and they typically answer each other’s personal questions. but this conversation exposed so much. who is scully describing — jack or mulder? it’s just so good. also!! mulder’s little smile as she talks.

when willis actually shows up at the scene as the investigative team is there — scully doesn’t seem surprised by jack’s behavior [her frustrated ~jack~ as he’s ranting about the case] and he listens to her about the medical evaluations. like yeah, dupre could have been a decent actor & good at reading the room but that moment looked a lot like the jack we saw in the first scene.

mulder playing his tricks, trying to get evidence for scully. and learning her birthday if he didn’t already know it. two birds, one stone. very mulder lol (see also: stakeout dates, weekend case dates, dinner & going over casefiles)

and their fingerprint evidence is gone…obviously jack had it. (tbh this whole thing reminds me of episodes in other cop shows where the investigator gets in too deep & “becomes” the perpetrator. happens later on the x files too, grotesque?) mulder is exasperated. because he’s trying so hard to speak her language — science & evidence. (but it isn’t anger or resentment!!!!!!)

and what’s so special about these two — scully is always listening to mulder even when she doesn’t agree or believe what he does. because she values him & what he has to say. she knows he’s a good investigator even if his theories are “out there” and he still finds important information & evidence that will lead to the truth / closing the case.

and SO she asks willis about the missing fingerprint, and she goes off with him to find lula. (he actually asks her, so was he already plotting to take her? and she goes despite being confused by his behavior at this point. not the same as her earlier concern for his well-being…)

the little bit of capable woman helping useless man in a typical couple way — willis doesn’t remember the address or name of the guy and she has to tell him. this is such a couple thing it kills me. also…has this not happened with mulder & scully at some point too? which is just funny because mulder’s memory is obnoxious. but he definitely absorbs information he ~cares~ about a lot better.

his dopey smile when he sees lula is a red flag FOR SURE. but i think scully can find it believable because of how long he’s been working the case, determined to catch them.

but god i hate this. because scully is so hurt by everything that happens next. this is a man she cares about deeply, taking her hostage, physically hurting her, being cruel. something i don’t believe jack ever did to her. and i think she doesn’t know what to believe, but she can’t believe it isn’t jack. that is terrifying because her chances of getting through to him, of escaping mostly unscathed, of surviving … greatly diminish. so through it all, she calls him jack, tries to remind him of who he is, talks about their relationship, uses her medical background to help him, etc etc.

and god. agent bruskin. i really like him. he starts to question mulder about his x time theories, and mulder is just. so great. “it doesn’t matter what i think. we’re still after the same thing.” and he keeps going along with mulder.

one of the only times he uses her first name in front of someone. and only the second? time we see it. the first time being beyond the sea…

(okay wait the way she tries to convince him he’s jack — she starts with facts. his name, his address and then when he isn’t moved, she goes more personal. she’s so sad & scared when he presses the gun against her. and when she realizes he’s drinking soda, she plays into him being dupre just a little to try to save him.)

mulder !!! listening to willis’s tapes. “i feel myself getting into their heads and i’m scared by what i’m feeling. the intoxicating freedoms that comes from disconnecting action and consequence. theirs is a world where nothing matters but their own needs, their own impossible appetitive and while the pleasure they derive from acts of violence is clearly sexual, it also speaks to what warden jackson called their operatic devotion to each other. it’s a love affair i almost envy.” this whole thing — for one thing, i think it sheds so much light on why scully believes what she does. so at the very least, he’s understanding her perspective more. and i think he understands how willis could have gone too deep. we don’t ~really know what profiling & vcu we’re like for mulder, but i bet there are threads of it he empathizes with. i think mulder was able to do it without becoming it, his issues were something different, but i’m sure he witnessed at least one agent going over the edge.

i’ve talked about it before but i love mulder in this episode and how he operates once she’s missing & then confirmed willis has her. yes, he believes it’s dupre. but he slips back into his profiling & vcu days — more typical investigation, trying to play well with others, following protocol…and he is the one who finds what they need to find her & save her. and his emotional state is a stark difference to her season 2 abduction. he’s still frantic, but quietly. with his panic face.

literally the number of times they say “scully” in such a short conversation — her name carrie’s so much meaning. he will do ANYTHING to get her back. and i think that’s why he falls back on what’s reliable in these cases. he’s so good at this. his golden boy days and i LIVE for when we get to see this mulder. i wish it happened more. because he’s a damn good agent. and he can follow the rules. but the rules aren’t always helpful and that’s how he ended up on the x files. yes, his sister. but also because he’s willing to go as far as it takes to help the people the world’s forgotten about & buried.

i’m not sure if i interpret this differently than others — because yeah, i think mulder is disappointed she doesn’t believe when it seems so obvious to him, and after “jack” took her hostage, how could she not believe — but i think mulder remembers their conversation in beyond the sea. he knows this isn’t the time to push her, she’s grieving and struggling. but at the same time, he can’t be the person she leans on. he can’t help her with this. so he does the only thing he can and let’s her know it’s okay to believe what she wants to believe. this was personal to her. and while believing in beyond the sea was a small comfort, the idea she could hear one last message from her father, this is a very different case. believing the fantastic wouldn’t be any comfort except that maybe it wasn’t jack causing her pain. but the idea that she lost him in that er, that she didn’t even come close to saving him — that completely shakes her foundation. he saw her anguish over this loss firsthand.

i honestly don’t know if mulder saw the similarities between him & willis, but i find it hard to believe he didn’t. and seeing what this man did to her (like emotionally) is probably a lot to swallow.

SO i love this episode. i think this one of the best cases of ~you decide who was right. you decide what the truth is~

but no matter what, there is no way mulder resents scully for not believing his theory. he is kind & thoughtful, he knows she’s afraid. he isn’t trying to force his beliefs on her. they are both trying to find the truth & prove it. that’s their nature, that’s their work, that’s their relationship. and it works because they both bring the necessary pieces to do it.

lost in the open heart sauce and had some brain worms while chatting with my sweet friend @immemorialmarketeer so now you guys get to hear them.

imagine if a) the writers had given more equal screen time to the other LIs and found ways to make them integral to actual central plot themes so they weren't just peripheral to the Ethan Show, but also, b) the writers had invested in an actual platonic relationship arc with Ethan if you don't pursue him romantically.

Then Open Heart story sort of depends upon Ethan and MC having some kind of emotional connection/relationship for it to make sense. Ethan has a particular interest in MC and their development as a doctor, whether you romance him or not, but the thing is that the writers really only thought of it in terms of romantic. So if you're not romancing him, it comes across as him being an inappropriate boss who makes advances on his mentee, when in reality, if you actually do the Ethan romance, he's not the one advancing the relationship. MC always makes a move and he's unable to resist; however, if you're not romancing him, Ethan seems to have this weird Thing for MC, regardless of if you've flirted with him or not.

Now consider, what if the writers had actually considered an alternate route that keeps the emotional connection with Ethan that's required for the story to make sense, but makes it completely platonic? If Ethan saw MC's talent as a doctor, and instead of being attracted to them, he instead began to feel a sort of older brother affection for them? He became invested in their growth in their career, because he saw something special in them that none of the other doctors had, and he wanted to help them blossom into the doctor he knew they could be. He felt protective of them, not because he thinks they're attractive and he has feelings for them, but because he sees them as a younger sibling, someone who has raw talent but hasn't had the chance to apply their skills in the real world? It's sort of this way in the game if you don't romance him, but not enough. If they had fully committed to a route like this, and had dialogue specifically referencing their friendship and platonic bond, that would've just been so adorable and maybe I would even be tempted to try out a platonic brotherly besties route with him 🥺

The thing with Ethan is that almost all the complaints about him if you don't romance him are due to laziness on PB's part, not because the character is actually Like That. They knew he would be the most popular LI, so they ignored the other LI routes AND they didn't take time to think about how his relationship with MC comes across if you're not romancing him, so they didn't write a platonic variant for it. But if they had addressed these two things... idk I think that most people would no longer have issues with him. Anyway, I can't get big brother platonic Ethan out of my head so I'm throwing it into the voiddd, hope you all enjoy sdlfkj

i’m gonna try to be as short as i possibly can (spoiler warning it’s still not short IM SORRY) but like, basically. basically. in my head, right, in the version of events that lives in my head— roier and quackity already have a history. not exactly dating, just fooling around “as friends”, but it makes their friendship now very overly-familiar. they’re very touchy, very flirty, but at this point it’s all just playful. they’re just very comfortable with each other, you know? they’re best friends! and what best friends Aren’t this close, huh?

and cellbit isn’t fully aware of whatever they had going on before he knew them, but he knows there’s something he missed, like an inside joke he’ll never quite understand. and it’s not like that bothers him, exactly? because him and roier are completely secure, there’s never been a couple more fucking obsessed with each other, he knows he has zero reasons to feel threatened. it’s more like— he knows quackity is always going to special to roier, in this weird way, so they are just stuck with him. for better or worse. me and you and your friend steve, just a little bit, that’s kind of the vibe.

but it’s not like quackity and cellbit don’t also have their own share of familiarity. not nearly to the same extent, obviously, but they are familiar. cellbit gave him partial custody of his child, they’ve taken each others sides in disputes over how to raise said child, richas calls quackity pa, they are very much already stuck with each other anyways.

so like. what do you even do with that. right? what do you call your husband’s not-quite-ex and your co-parent, what does that make him to the two of you. and how is that impacted by the fact that he’s always desperately hitting on you both?

so again, in my head, in my head— i think it Has to be a slow burn with them. because quackity has baggage around relationships, right, he’s had a history of chasing romance just because he thinks it will fix him or make him feel something, and he needs time to cool off on that first. now, he never cools off on the flirting, i don’t think he ever physically could, but he needs to be okay with it not going anywhere. and i think spiderbit needs time to warm up to the opposite idea, that it might actually go somewhere. but over time they do. over time, quackity just worms his way into more and more of their life until they’ve basically made him a part of it without saying. they fall into comfortable routines. cellbit gets used to roier and quackity’s teasing, he starts to join in on it. over time, all the joke flirting just stops really being a joke, and all the friendly affection just escalates and escalates until they finally have to acknowledge what they’re doing.

they’re all very stupid about it. cellbit brings it up to roier first, who is somehow embarrassed because he thought they were all just joking and he was the only one catching feelings which he did NOT wanna think too hard about. they have a talk about what this means for them, come to an agreement, bring it up to quackity— who also somehow thought this was a bit and that they were just doing it all to tease him! and then, somehow, they’re both surprised when he says yes, because they couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. morons all around. they do have braincells, they just short circuit when they’re in a room together, it’s very sad and very comical

MY THOUGHTS ON TVDU SHIPS

While trying to write for my unfinished fanfics, I think I feel the need to reorganize my opinions on certain relationships on the show/shows of the TVDU. I’m aware nobody asked for my input, this post is purely to indulge myself and get my thoughts out of my head. These are only my opinions on these ships, I’m not trying to say that anyone should share them or agree with them.

Here goes 🌪️

Stefan/Elena: Very first love type of relationship, I can see the vision. But as with many of the Stefan ships, I don’t find it very interesting. I love the romance and the fact they’re so tender with one another. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they had been endgame instead of Delena - it could’ve gone either way for me and I would’ve been okay with it.

Damon/Elena: While I was watching the show I became bewitched by Ian Somerhalder as Damon and his and Nina’s chemistry. I was sold and continue to be, what can I say? Also, I tend to like the older brother-coded characters better. Loved that he was often unhinged and that he was so so desperate for Elena.

Klaus/Caroline: Yes, of course. I love the dynamic, it’s my kind of trope 100%. I wish the writers had given them more, gave them a chance to truly develop their relationship. But the chemistry!!! Amazing I think. There was so much wasted potential - I suppose that’s why I enjoy writing about them so much. And I get why people like other Klaus ships better, so many of his other relationships had More of everything, screen time included. No matter, I fell in love with them through their counted scenes together.

Bonnie/Damon: Oh I wanted to see them happen so badly. I was extremely disappointed that the writers weren’t braver about them. Still, their friendship was one of the things I enjoyed the most about the show. And I do think that Bonnie would’ve been better for him than Elena, she brought out the best in Damon.

Klaus/Camille: When I started watching The Originals I was angry that Camille even existed, it seemed to me that the writers were trying to replace Caroline in Klaus’ new world. But then I realized that Caroline’s and Camille’s similarities began and ended with the color of their hair. Actually, I quite like Camille as a character and her and Klaus’ relationship. I was gutted when they killed her off. I feel like their love was very pure and grew so naturally over time.

Stefan/Caroline: It came out of fucking nowhere I feel like. To me, it was very obvious that the writers were trying to pair off whoever was left and they were just there. I like them much better as friends because I never got any romantic/sexual chemistry from their scenes together, even when they were officially a couple. It did feel like Caroline was second best to Elena for Stefan with how and when they wrote their romance.

Elijah/Hayley: I loved that they were clearly so important to one another BUT I always thought that the writers were imposing the idea of them on us even when they weren’t the best suited for each other. I don’t know, I wanted to love their relationship but they never made me feel anything. Very plain, got ZERO excitement from them.

Bonnie/Enzo: Idk, one of the things I hate when introducing a new couple to a show is when the writers deprive the audience of the process of their falling in love. Maybe I’d like them better if they hadn’t already been so established after the time jump. The flashbacks were sweet and made my indifference fade a bit, but still. Bonnie deserved to have a real love story shown.

Caroline/Tyler or Caroline/Matt: Hate these two ships simply because I don’t like Tyler or Matt as characters AT ALL.

Hayley/Klaus: Now, these two... the writers completely failed them. There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I was never sure whether there was ever any intention of making them happen or if their having sex was only a device to create the plot for The Originals. In the show, they have so many moments that could be read as flirting and pining, and that’s why I’m convinced there was something more than just friendship with them, I really wanted it to be there. Recently I read a post about the cast talking about a love triangle in season 1 between Klaus, Hayley, and Elijah and I SEE IT, but I guess the writers were (wrongly) convinced Elijah was it for her. I think this is one of the few ships that I adore equally as platonic or romantic. I’ll remain disappointed for eternity about this failure to launch. Maybe I’ll write about them in the future - it’s extremely likely.

Well, all this to say, I think I enjoyed most of these ships to a certain capacity while watching the show. It’s fair to say they all had their moments all thanks to the incredible actors playing them.

Conclusion: I would read and write fanfiction about all of them under the right circumstances. 🕯️🕯️

The colour pallet and tonal shift from the first episode of the future arc is jarring.

okay actually here's another post about love sea LMFAO

I finally got around to watching the special ep. It really was just two couples being couples and kissing and flirting and that's all I wanted, like no notes. Also Palm is a funny guy LOL. I'm glad they kinda wrapped up viemook in a bow but this sooo should've happened in the regular line up of episodes. We also got that second kiss for them, but I kinda wanted to see just a tiny bit more IDK! They're resolved, but I think they could've pushed it a little more! Also the mutrak scene where Mut is mad and Rak is highkey enjoying it.... crazy........ do it again. 😭🙏 weird little pervs I love them.

Mutrak being domestic and talking about furniture and then Rak being excited just thinking about their future together.... I damn near cried. I was so happy for them. Watching Mut be loved in return and seeing Rak melt into their love was soooo (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠)

Another thing I noticed is Rak started acting a little less refined and less mature. Not even just around Mut, but in general, even with Vie and Mook. Interesting to see some emotional regression going on once he finally lets his guard fully down and starts processing some of that trauma. I thought it was interesting to see their dynamic shift because of it. And there were no weird vibes around it, it just felt like that was their reality and they've adapted to it and one another. So nice to see whether intentional or not on the writers' part.

Also this special just made me love Vie more. I'm so ride or die for her. She's so genuine in her friendship with Rak and she really just does everything in that relationship for the sake of being kind and being a good friend. She's so ride or die for her bestie. The part where Rak thanked her for pushing him to take the dive into love was so sweet. She just smiles like it was no biggie and it was only natural that she supported him through that. She rly didn't need the thanks because she saw her friend finally being actually happy. Ah it was so sweet. I really love Vie and Rak's friendship. Lesbian and Gay solidarity warms my heart so bad. We really need more of that in these series, I think it's important.

Special ep was a 10/10 for me. There's no point to it other than to see a glimpse into the couples' future and that's rly all I wanted. It's definitely a watch meant for fans and viewers who wanted a little more of the romance. Giggling, kicking my feet for most of it. (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

Alright I've been listening to Jenny (I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship) non-stop the past few days. I'm caving in. I have to vent the gay. Nobody asked but I'm making a Popshine analysis post.

(Was this an excuse to talk about them? Idk but I had to sit down and type this out NOW so you all have to suffer)

So as I said, I've been listening to Jenny for a while, and I'm starting to see it fitting with Poppy and Shiny.

Poppy and Shiny would be another example of 'opposites attract'. However, for various reasons, they don't dive into each other right away. Not just because it would be a slow burn in the first place, but because of their own worries and insecurities too. Especially for Shiny.

For Shiny, it's a lot of things. She's never had a genuine relationship before. Every other person she's been intimate with was just a fling, her trying to manipulate them for something she wanted, or just friends with benefits. Not to mention that she's used to being around a more rowdy crowd and, therefore, is used to being more straightforward (unless she's trying to steal) and dealing with touchy people.

But with Poppy, a kind lady who acts so formal but not in a stuffy way, it's completely new territory. Not only does Poppy not at all talk to her or regard her the way Shiny is used to, but Poppy herself is not at all used to people being upfront with her. Sure, Shiny will lightly flirt with her friend, but she and Poppy both agree that that's just that; friendly banter. At least for a while.

Then, when Shiny fully realizes she's crushing on her new fretful, sweet, worth more than high-class gal pal, she gets scared. Genuinely scared. She's never gotten this close with somebody before. At least not like this. And yet here she is, feeling her heart flutter for somebody for the first time. For someone who doesn't live the same life as her. Someone who couldn't be anymore different from her if they spoke different languages.

And Shiny, by now, sees that Poppy- again, unlike her- gives her heart away so easily. She shares her heart with somebody before she shares a bed with them. Complete opposite to what Shiny does. She's watched Poppy fall in love with at least one other person before they get together. And, for the first time, Shiny gets jealous. She and Poppy have been friends for longer since this new guy showed up, and yet she gets to be the third wheel. It's also another punch to the heart when she considers that Popppy may not even be into women at all, and she needs to stop being ridiculous so her best friend can be happy.

As for Poppy's side of things. She was raised in a conservative household. She always imagined she'd wind up getting married, having a baby or two, and settling down, and thought that that was how things were going to be for her. Granted, life Downtown has helped her relax on this and realize it doesn't have to be the end all be all. But she still imagined that she'd end up with a nice man once she did get married (which she genuinely wants to do). Even when she realized she was attracted to women too. Even after she tried to deny her feelings and chalk it up to just her being able to appreciate feminine beauty.

But then, her first real female friend comes along and starts confusing things for Poppy. She's been told her whole life in various ways that she had to find a nice boy to be happy. She's accepted the fact that she doesn't need somebody to be happy, but she didn't expect to find a nice girl to start falling for. Let alone a girl who uh... Isn't so nice.

Just like for Shiny, this is completely new territory for Poppy, but for the added reason that she didn't expect to fall in love with Shiny at all. And even when she realizes this, she doesn't expect Shiny to reciprocate; the flirting is just part of Shiny's language, and she's never seen the weasel ever have romantic feelings for anybody. Shiny is hard to read, but with how long they've been friends, Poppy thinks she knows her. Enough to know that her friend wouldn't like her that way anyway at least, even if there was some truth in her playful flirts.

But, as Shiny knows, Pops wears her heart on her sleeve. Even when she tries to hide her emotions, they come bubbling to the surface eventually. And that's how they both find out that the other loved them. Because Poppy couldn't keep it to herself anymore. And Shiny, despite her own worries, is all too happy to let this happen after so long of pretending things are just normal between them.

Even the way Shiny would veiw their budding romance would correlate with the song. While Poppy would veiw love in general as taking the next step of a relationship, Shiny would see it as 'ruining the friendship'. Not necessarily in a bad way, even if she is scared of this new thing, she just sees it as that their simple friendship will not be the same if they become more. Poppy says, "I want to become more with you" and Shiny says, "I want to ruin our friendship"

TLDR: Jenny (I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship) is Popshine's theme song.
