He does kind of view you as like an accessory, or like a trophy. if you don't dress 'goth' all the time he will view you as fake and not 'goth enough.'

HOWEVER, I do see him having some base knowledge about Alternative subcultures. (I saw a headcannon from curly-my-beloved and that's what made me think about putting him here)

During his high school years he probably considered himself Punk or something. Maybe had one Goth gf that dumped him in a really really messy breakup.

Unironically He would be the fucker to see someone wearing a band shirt and go "name 3 songs" or give you a pop quiz about the band, and call you a poser or fake fan.

If you can only do the bare minimum to take care of yourself (i.e making low-effort meals, only using the bathroom twice a day, etc) then that's okay too. The more you rest, the more energy you'll slowly build up to do more things like going to the grocery store so that you don't starve and getting those assignments done and taking an extra two minutes to make yourself a glass of something warm in the mornings so that you don't want to die quite as much. Also, when you can, ask your friends for a script and call your doctor about prescribing you depression medication because I love you and this is not normal and you deserve better.

Living life is not supposed to make you want to die, and surviving is not the same as living.

your body has a built in hierarchy of needs and at the top of the list is creating things, which you can only do once you're at a certain level of energy and wellness. if something's wrong, your drive to create will be the first to go.

be gentle and kind to yourself. imagine that your brain and body is a horse: kicking it when it's down and yelling at it to move won't help. you have to meet it where it's at and feed it and comfort it until it's ready to move on again. you can't write trail songs if you've got no path to roam

I am, thanks.

I started the post the week my grandmother was dying. I live 6hrs away from all my family and I was feeling really alone and isolated from them, unable to gather with them and help shoulder my part of the burden of her passing. I'd already gotten to say my goodbyes a few months earlier, so it was just wishing I had some way to support the rest of my family, to feel like I was still a part of them. I felt alone and ineffectual and like a spec in a too big universe.

I made a shitpost on the way to work and kept adding to it bc it was something else to think about. I fixated on it, and did the really unhealthy thing of hanging my emotional state on it.

luckily, tumblr delivered. this post EXPLODED all through that month, giving me a much needed distraction, and more importantly, a sense of belonging to something bigger. Of making an impact.

Is it a silly shitpost? Well yeah. But sharing silliness and stories is what makes us human. I am honored and delighted that my love of stupid puns made what could have been a really bleak moment a bright sparkling point of joy.

My grandmother was a real Snow White type, always saw the good in the world, never met a kid she didn't immediately adopt and start calling grandchild. She wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with claws and fangs of vengeance, but she would love each and every one of us who came to her with snuffling snouts and snarling maws, wrapping her delicate little arms around our beastly necks and telling us we're good children and thank us for protecting her.

The feral godmothers are nothing like her, of course. They're born in the nasty, desperate corners of my own hurt heart. But the wish to be able to do something about it, rather than singing a sweet song and wishing for rescue, that comes from years of watching her stay soft and wondering how she didn't go fucking apeshit. And reconciling her old school happy housewife with the raging riot of queer elders taken from us for daring to make a better future. The feral godmothers are here to shake up the Snow White's, to sic them on the hunters, because we can't depend on kind Huntsmen and kinder Dwarfs, and we should dream bigger than laying passive in a glass box waiting to be moved around like porcelain dolls.

My grandma loved dolls. The only dolls I took from her collection were the old happy meal toys wizard of oz collection. dolls I actually remembered playing with.

Anyways, yeah, I'm doing okay. I know this not at all how you meant it, that most people don't know I started this post during a week of pre-grieving. But I am doing okay, and I got to go down and see my family for a bit to help them through the grieving process, and I'm really looking forward to this October when I can bake her favorite christmas cookies and say goodbye to her in a way that has nothing to do with Snow White and everything to do with reclaiming my own teeth.

okay this is a long shot but wondering if anyone can help me, a brain dramaged autistic person, work backwards on how to change this dynamic (as in be willing to talk me thru this)

so posting ANYTHING on facebook fills me with horrific anxiety. i don't know where it comes from or who exactly i am afraid of. suspect its that there are too many different kinds of ppl from different parts of my life on there. i once tried sorting them out into audiences who would be comfy with specific topics and themes but its a messy system & didn't work for long. so there are people who i've had added for a long time, that i worry about how they'll interpret what i say (like because of autism, i make faux pas a lot and people get hostile and misinterpret) but i don't exactly want to un-add them, which signifies end of friendship. or like we don't get to see eachother's lives. I also have a few family members left on there which leads me to selfi -censor sexual posts which all the lefty shitposters share openly. i'm probably overthinking this but i get very little engagement on fb despite having a lot of friends on there and that makes posting feel even worse (like people are seeing it and not commenting/reacting) and i see plenty of other folks with large, robust, supportive followings of friends and family. so my brain goes into overdrive like how do they manage that. i guess they don't give a fuck? or what? i understand i can't control if people like me or engage with my content. and that i could just stop posting

but facebook historically has been where i post fundraisers and when i need help. i'm slowly building irl support system but i wonder if there's any way to salvage this. i don't like who i am on there it throws me into mega mega anxiety mode and i overexplain and feel bound to my past selves. but if i stop posting entirely when i do have something important to share the algorithm will kill it dead. like...maybe starting a page would help instead of having everything associated with my personal account? i still don't know what to do with my FB. it is a log of my entire life since i was 13. exes, pre transition pics, people leftover from toxic leftbook days. just everything is on there. i don't want to delete it. i don't want it accessible to everyone. i honestly wish i had stayed on livejournal or something. fb became where i performed myself. i don't talk with a lot of people via DM bc again, anxiety about approaching people. it feels like going up to a dude in the mall, who you have known for years bc he sits at the mall playing songs and yelling about his life. but if you go up to him will he even know who the fuck you are? I think some of the anxiety is related to being plural. some of it is parasocial relationships. idk. i just hate that it exists and i still feel bound to it. and want to talk to someone about it who has a similar relationship with social media...

speaking of kisses; he enjoys them more when they’re not on your lips

it’s an underrated preference of his, but it really shows in the way he shows affection

he’s always kissing your hand, shoulder, cheek, forehead - anywhere where there’s access to your skin tbh

and does it with such tenderness and so much softness

he also tends to slowly caress your arm or leg while cuddling

sometimes without even noticing

he’d be teasing you so often

but the things he teases you about are actually the things he find so special about you and really likes about you

he really likes learning new things from you

and then picking up on some of your habits

it’s just another thing to remind him of how head over heels for you he actually is

when he really needs comfort, holding his hand or engulfing him in your arms is the way to go

doesn't matter it you're silent or not while doing it - it helps him feel so so much better either way

and he does the exact same with you

maybe even brushing his hand though your hair while gently hushing you

and reminds you that you don't have to talk if you don't want to and is just super sweet

he’s a lot better at handling other people’s emotions than he thinks

and gives really good advice afterwards

he really appreciates it when you take care of him

like bringing him food while he’s busy with something else because it’s getting late and you just know he���ll forget

or when you remind him that everything doesn't have to be perfect and done all at once

and when you silently sling a scarf around his neck because it’s, like, one degree colder than yesterday

and he can never forget the countless of times where you give him that smile

the one that makes him forget about all of his problems and only think about you, you, you

the one that reminds him that you love him and are always there for him

you two have started an ongoing thing without even noticing, which is sharing a glass of wine together over a nice homemade dinner on a friday evening, binge-watching movies that you both find nostalgic or memorable in some way and just enjoying each other’s company

and it’s really nice ;(

you force him out of the house when it’s been literal weeks since he’s seen the sun shine

and go for short walks to random places

I feel like he’d really enjoy showing you the places he used to roam

his old college for example

even though he dropped out - he still has a lot of memories from there that he’d love to tell you about

he’s kind of like your local tour guide - though he’s only telling you stories about himself

which just makes it even better

when in crowded places, he always has a protective hand on your back

it’s just a natural reflex at this point

if he knows you’ll be walking alone in the dark, he makes sure you always call him

so you won't be completely “alone”

or he’ll just pick you up himself if you're far away from home

techno spoils you so much, too

and even when you tell him to stop, it’s hard for him to

he just wants to do anything to make you happy

you’d book a cabin once in a while

for just the two of you

for occasions where everything around you can seem a little too loud

and it’s always suuuper cozy

you guys always help each other fall asleep

you basically just talk until you're both too tired to do it anymore

and he’ll always make sure you're snuggled up nicely in his arms before dozing off :)

1. why did you choose your url? not a clue. i came up withe the phrase a while back and now its my thing. i like shrimp but i honestly didnt have any strong opinions on them before getting the url.

4. do you have a queue tag? most of the time its #queue btw but sometimes i dont bother. like the pizza pasta post i queued till september.

5. why did you start your blog in the first place? tbh i was one of the pinterest girlies or whatever whose pinterest was essentially just tumblr posts and i figured why not.

6. why did you choose your icon/pfp? i found a duo set of icons in a post and sent it to tiger to share. then we found the og vid it came from and sent to bear and fish so they could also join. (yes im aware we are all animals. that was not intentional)

7. why did you choose your header? skixjsk ummm. i saw it once and i feel like it comes up every other week at least (in my kinds of convos) and i think its hilarious. i really wanna print it out and make it like a card that i can just pull out whenever relevant.

15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts i think that those additions are unecessary. it just makes me feel bad. yes i know its important. however i dont want to and i dont like being made to believe that im a bad person for simply not wanting to reblog some random post on a social media website. its usually not that big of a deal. let me make my own choices without shoving them on me. it just makes me less likely to interact with that post.

16. do you like tag games? i think theyre fun. some times i dont have a lot to say but i like talking to people and learning about people. and i think its an interesting way that tumblr has cultivated to connect with each other especially in such a time of isolation on social media.

YO-Kai Direction

Season 7 Featured on: Now That's What I Call Quality! 3

Ripped by DonnieTheGuy

Y'know, funny story: a part of me genuinely thought I'd made this post already, and I had to double-check my posting archive three times over just to make sure. Because for as much Season 7 glazing as I've done on here, YO-Kai Direction is the kind of rip that absolutely deserves that love, as such a perfect rip from one of SiIva's most surprise breakout events in recent memory. Hell, last time I was covering the event in question, this rip only barely lost out from being covered instead of Beautiful Dreamer - but, in earnest, I believe two legends should indeed be able to coexist.

I've learned a lot from running this blog, but one of the biggest breakout surprises to me was learning just how incredible of a ripper DonnieTheGuy truly is. He joined the team around when I was paying less attention to the channel in general, and didn't exactly have a loud internet personality for me to learn of otherwise - yet rip by rip, from the blog's very first in Running Through Cookie Country to later-covered examples like Epic Rap Battles of History: Funny vs. Funnier and Remember when this song was the one related to toilets?, I began realizing just how powerful the guy is. A master chef that works in the background, even working to provide tons of assets to help people get into ripping themselves, sharing samples, samples and much more. But even if I wasn't aware of all that, even if I wasn't aware of just how much of a menace he is even off of SiIva when it comes to Twitter shitposts (the Digital Circuit edit trend where he made like 20+ edits on his own for instance), YO-Kai Direction would've likely convinced me on its own of DonnieTheGuy's prestige.

I recall saying to myself back when I wrote Beautiful Dreamer that one of the reasons that I picked it over YO-Kai Direction was just due to how much I'd already featured YO-KAI Disco, and Yousuke Yasui's music in general, on here. 【＝３】e-MUNO Disco (vs. 音MAD AGENT) was effectively the rip that made me INVESTED invested in the art of high quality ripping, WA-HOO DISCO shows just how much Super Mario 64's sound can and has been pushed by the SiIva team, Siiva Lining just outright slaps - you get it. But we're now in the golden age of ripping quality, where it feels as if every rip made is touched by some benevolent gods ensuring that it does WAY more than it necessarily needs to in order for its proposed joke to work. Because like, YO-Kai Direction is an incredibly simple premise on the surface, mashing up the all-too-known YO-KAI Disco with What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction as part of the One Direction event. Back in, say, Season 1, that would've been the end of it, but there's so many small touches added by DonnieTheGuy that shows just how invested he was in utilizing One Direction's sound to the fullest.

And honestly, when the One Direction event began, I was initially a bit disappointed, as it took the place of the channel's annual "9/11 event", which had previously given us incredibly bait-and-switch events like what brought us SUNGORE in 2020. Initially I figured that I had no stake or familiarity with One Direction and so the event was completely out of my wheelhouse...but not only was I SURPRISINGLY familiar with What Makes You Beautiful in particular, I also had no clue that the team was so excited and ready to start using it. It gave me flashbacks to Season 6's Big Time Rush event which brought us Famous Surprise, only with even more people firing on all cylinders for it. Because again - in many other eras, YO-Kai Direction would've just been a mere mashup, but DonnieTheGuy goes the extra length to pitch-shift it all to something absolutely heavenly.

Without ever leaving that original pitch for the rip, YO-Kai Direction masters the art of escalation in a way that's so well done, it's hard to even notice with how well it fits in. It begins as a seemingly normal mashup with a slightly increased BPM speed of YO-KAI Disco being used as to match the One Direction song, but then at the second go around at the verse's melody it becomes more YTPMV-esque, editing soundbytes from What Makes You Beautiful into the melody of the source track, as if to communicate the two tracks merging - "You're insecure, but you walk-walk through the do-o-or!" is pulled off with just a slight stutter and pitch-shifting that's immediately noticeable if you're paying attention to it, yet fits so well as to initially sound just like an extension of the initial mashup. This then carries on into the bridge, before finally exploding in the chorus - wherein every part of One Direction's vocals are pitch-shifted to amazing effect. It's hard to put into word without repeating myself just how well done this build-up is, but the end result is obvious - a genuinely amazing listen.

All the while, slight elements of What Makes You Beautiful's instrumentation seem to be sprinkled into the rip, sounding almost as if they had just been dug out of the mix of the original YO-KAI Disco. That's the theme of the whole rip, and to be clear - ABSOLUTELY not meant as a negative. The way in which DonnieTheGuy managed to make YO-Kai Direction sound almost as if it was a natural collaboration between One Direction and Yousuke Yasui is actually insane, yet it still subtly honors the traditions of what makes the greatest SiIvaGunner rips as good as they are. I won't sugarcoat it - on many days, humming YO-KAI Disco in public, THIS is the version I'm humming.

I don't want to add all of this under the post I took this pic from, because I'm going to get nitpicky and long-winded and it would probably get really annoying for OP... and also because this is the "are you saying we piss on the poor" website, so someone would inevitably think I'm hating on either OP or Mary Reufle. Which I'm not, btw. I think the passage above says something really beautiful and tragic about humanity, and I'm thankful to OP for posting it, otherwise I might have never read it.

But it does remind me of a stupid pet peeve I've been trying to ignore since people on Tumblr started debating whether asexual sailors would be safe from the lure of sirens and other people started replying that, hey! Sirens in Greek mythology, especially the Odyssey, don't lure sailors by offering sex! They lure them by offering them what they desire! Which might be sex for some, but might be just some really great pasta for others!

... again, to avoid another obvious "we piss on the poor" moment: no, I don't actually have anything serious against jokes, thought exercises, and stories in that vein. Ace people belong in fun fantasy and/or mythology-inspired stories and story ideas as much as everyone else. And I'm well-aware you don't need my permission to write about a sailor saving their entire crew by being totally indifferent to sex or almost dooming them because some weird lady on a rock in the middle of the sea was loudly singing about being desperate to share cool frog facts with someone. Hell, I'd probably read both.

But anyway, the pet peeve I was talking about before going on that tangent is that the sirens do sing Odysseus' story to Odysseus, and it just annoys me so much, seeing people ignoring the fact that that's actually a thing that happens. Like, this is from Book XII:

"[...] the Sirens failed not to note the swift ship as it drew near, and they raised their clear-toned song: “‘Come hither, as thou farest, renowned Odysseus, great glory of the Achaeans; [185] stay thy ship that thou mayest listen to the voice of us two. For never yet has any man rowed past this isle in his black ship until he has heard the sweet voice from our lips. Nay, he has joy of it, and goes his way a wiser man. For we know all the toils that in wide Troy [190] the Argives and Trojans endured through the will of the gods, and we know all things that come to pass upon the fruitful earth.’"

... yes, this translation is taken from Perseus and is, unfortunately, in prose. Give me a break, it's not easy to find good poetic translations of the Odyssey posted for free online when I'm not even a native English speaker and to me "Odyssey translation" means "Rosa Calzecchi Onesti's translation from the '60s." The point is, the sirens try to lure Odysseus (and would definitely succeed, if not for the ropes-and-wax trick) by telling him that they know everything, including all that has happened to Odysseus himself and everyone else who suffered through the war of Troy.

And yeah, you could argue that the main draw for Odysseus (his greatest desire, to tie it all back to mythological shitposting) is knowledge itself, because he is that kind of guy. But the sirens don't give any details on their knowledge of all that is presently happening "upon the fruitful earth." They do, however, give details on their knowledge of the past -- specifically stating they know Odysseus' past. The same man who, if you remember, can't take Demodocus singing about a couple of episodes from the war of Troy without needing to hide his face due to being completely overcome by tears, yet has a piece of meat from his own plate brought to Demodocus as a show of respect and gratitude for his singing. Unlike his own wife, Penelope, who when hearing the aoidos Phemius singing about the same war back in Ithaca, asks him to change the subject to something less painful...

It's just. It's so painful and complex and wonderful and it makes me want to tear my hair out every time I think about it. And nobody ever remembers it when someone brings up the sirens and specifically the ones from the Odyssey! *screams*

Btw, now that I've had my nice little rant, please do me a favor and listen to the song Le Sirene by Vinicio Capossela. Because this Italian singer and composer? He gets it.

🏆 My Favorites

The most fun writing I had with DAY 12. The slow change of Henshaw's mental stability was really interesting to explore, especially because of his first-person perspective. The thought of cave diving itself is horrifying to me, but doing that while also being stalked by an eldritch horror seemed too good to miss out on. Even I still don't know what's down there...

Also, I love the dynamic between the protagonists from DAY 6. My sweet boy just wanted to be free and meet new people 😔 At some points I wrote him to be a little too self-loathing, kinda giving him incel vibes... He's not like that, I swear, just very frustrated with himself.

Lastly, DAY 15 was one of the first ideas I had for Febuwhump. Pet whump/BBU is something I avoided for some time, and it took a while to warm up to it, but the basic concept is not that different from any other whump storyline, I guess. I just hope Daniel got his ass handed to him afterward 👀

🏆 The ones that took the longest

Everything regarding Elliot and Morris (beginning with DAY 8) but especially DAY 20. I sat a whole weekend on that thing, meaning that the other prompts got pushed back and were stuck in my mind during the weekdays. But in the end, it all worked out. I had to take the time, because it is the most important piece to show Elliot's and Morris´ relationship. The writing still takes up the lion's share of the work, but I used to underestimate translating and editing the whole text, whoops.

Also, DAY 6 again. I had to google a lot of cocktails and cities for that one 🥃 Cheers!

🏆 The ones that took the shortest

DAY 15, surprisingly, wrote itself in one sitting. I guess yandere Whumper is my natural modus operandi.

Day 28 was also very quick, just took like four hours with editing. I searched through my bathroom to figure out what Whumpee would use in their daily routine 😬

Last but not least, my lovely shitpost on DAY 5, the woodburning one. I still stand by it, that shit hurts and makes a great torture device. Downside: you'll probably need an extension cord.

you know. My first instinct is to reply to this in a jokey memey fun way, because The High Geologist is a fun jokey meme.

But it's pride month so I wanna get into it a little bit. When I drew him, I wasn't thinking about ace stuff at all. The geode halo is an amethyst and they just happen to resemble the ace flag. Some people spotted it and celebrated it, so I quickly made it canon, to accept, celebrate, and validate ace people. At the time of the meme, I identified as allo and considered myself an ally to the ace community; so please consider him as representation from a content creator who isn't part of the people they portray. This is very important to me because I don't want people to think I only did it because "I am or have a friend/family member/etc who is ace and that's why I care"

You don't need any of that to care. You just need to be a decent person who listens when people talk.

The high geologist is really important to me as an ace icon because it's one of those characters whose sexuality is just one of many distinct and wonderful traits they have.

Some people make their sexual or romantic orientation, gender identity, allo-ace spectrum label, mono/polyamorous preference, or any other queer label into a huge part of their identities. This is absolutely awesome and I love these people with all my heart. Many of my ocs are like this.

Other people have their queerness exist alongside or behind all their other traits. The High Geologist is: A centaur. A geologist. A powerful mage. A stoner. Shaggy from live action Scooby Doo. Asexual.

This is important to me because it shows that Anyone can be ace. That while sometimes ace is a core part of ones identity, it can Also just be a trait stuck onto an awesome person like every other trait that makes them who they are. I think that having this epic magical stoner centaur be ace is important to the ace kids out there who have a hard time finding explicitly ace rep that doesn't come with a whole bunch of baggage and personality changes attached to it.

He's just ace. It's not the most important thing about him (that would be his ability to name every stone,) it just Is. The high geologist happens to be vocal and proud about his sexuality, but if it was just another trait to him, that would be fine too.

I myself am Very very queer in many ways. My gender, sexuality, romantic orientation, ace-allo spectrum location, it's all queer. But I don't have that in my bio because it's not what I consider to be important about me.

The high geologist is many things. I want to make ace people happy when they see someone they share a trait with being awesome and proud of who he is. I want allo people to see asexuality that is just a trait added in to a bunch of other traits to make someone whole and complete.

Asexuality is a positive Thing. It's not a void. Adding it to a character makes them More complete, not less. The same goes for every other trait in the world. Even things like being cishet. If you're a good ally to cishet people, remember that it makes them a whole person and not more boring than others. Especially appreciate cishet people around us who have done questioning and put thought into discovering who they are because a journey is a journey no matter where your road leads, and the act of walking brings us closer.

↘ UMMM, anyway. Also not gonna lie, but you liked to dance, so it was much easier to induce you this time, hehe.

↘ Therefore, a few trainings later, you could easily record the ‘WAP challenge’ and put it on the pink-haired teenager’s popular account. 

↘ Meanwhile, your lovely boyfriend was in the coffee bar with Denki. Unexpectedly, the latter got a notification on his phone. 

↘ (Of course, we all know that Kaminari is the second TikTok biggest fan and his content is something like ‘Top10 things I don’t like about Bakugo’.)
