A09: HAMA Tours Party
Characters: Nagi, Yodaka, Kafka, Renga, Liguang, Kinari, Chihiro, Raito, Yachiyo, Sakujiro, Daniel & Nayuki Location: Hama Summary: Kafka and the others make a toast to selecting all 18 ward mayors. Nagi is nowhere to be found in the gathering… Proofreader: Shay
ㅤ
Kafka: Alright, I’ll start the toast, then. I’m Kafka Oguro, the director of HAMA Tours.
I raise my glass to the revival of HAMA and these past few months of running around to find the right people who will share my dream…
We’ve finally been able to achieve our first goal of choosing all 18 ward mayors.
Firstly, I want to thank all of my fellow staff who believed in me and worked hard together with me. We sure went through a lot to reach this point.
Momiji / Kaede: ……
Yachiyo: Ugh, thank you so much!! I’m gonna cry…!
Kafka: Things didn’t go smoothly for us day-in and day-out. It’s completely thanks to every single one of the ward mayors and their individual potential as “people” that we were able to reach our goal.
The Night Group has only just been formed, but thanks to the Manager and Daniel-san, I believe we have the best people who can help HAMA with its revival.
Toi from “Angel Eye”, Yodaka from “Ten Nights’ Dream bar”, Netaro from “Cafe369”... and Nagi from “Flower Laundry” – Once again, it’s a pleasure to be working with you.
Nagi: ……
Yodaka: I look forward to it.
Toi: …Sigh. I hope we’ll find my brother…
Kiroku: ……!
(That’s Toi-kun…? But where’s Ryui-kun…?)
Chihiro: Oh~? Weren’t you at Chii’s handshake event the other day?
Raito: ……
Chihiro: Hm? Raiteen, what’s up?
Raito: No… it’s nothing.
Kafka: I’m sure we’ll be able to overcome the obstacle of having an audience of 20 million at the Night Group’s first concert.
…I sincerely welcome all 18 ward mayors who are here tonight. And…
I raise my glass for a bright future for HAMA and all the ward mayors… cheers.
Momiji / Kaede: Cheers!
*Sounds of clapping*
Sakujiro: Manager, well done.
Daniel: Yo, how have ya been?
Momiji / Kaede: Everyone, thank you so much for everything you’ve done… cheers!
Yachiyo: Cheers~!! We’re like a bunch of rich people from an American drama~!
Nayuki: Oh, you’re having juice, Manager?
Daniel: What the? You’re not a non-drinker so you should’ve gone with alcohol.
Momiji / Kaede: That’s true but I still have work after this.
Yachiyo: Eek! I’ve got work too but I’m still drinking…!
Momiji / Kaede: Oh, you’re not a lightweight, so you should be fine, Yachiyo-kun.
Yachiyo: Yep! I’ll work hard even when I’m drunk!
Nayuki: You can be quite troublesome when you’re drunk, so I recommend working in your own room, Manager.
Sakujiro: I’m happy to see you two working so hard. In any case, we’re finally standing at the start line.
Yachiyo: The Night Group has 4 members so they’re one member short compared to the other groups.
Momiji / Kaede: That’s what happens when you're trying to divide 19 members into 5 groups.
Daniel: Well, this is where the hard part starts. Don’t let your guard down, Manager.
Momiji / Kaede: I won’t! I’ll brace myself and work hard for the company and HAMA–
Daniel: Woah, stop, stop. Your seriousness is gonna ruin the taste of my alcohol.
Momiji / Kaede: W-Wha…?
Sakujiro: Indeed, I don’t think the god of travel will be angered if you relax today.
Daniel: Alrighty, my next drink’s callin’ me so see ya later.
Yachiyo: Oh, I’m gonna get another serving of that expensive-looking roast beef…
Nayuki: Fuefuki-san, I can get a plate for you if you’d like. I’m scared you might crash into the chocolate fondue right next to you.
Momiji / Kaede: Ahaha…
Sakujiro: And I shall greet the other guests. Please enjoy the banquet – bye for now.
Momiji / Kaede: Sure, see you later.
……
(We’ve finally found all 18 ward mayors. It feels like a dream…)
Kafka: Are you enjoying yourself?
Momiji / Kaede: Oh, Kafka. Good job on the toast earlier. I’m just getting teary-eyed realising how far we’ve come since that day on the rooftop.
*Nagi appears in the background*
Kafka: Yeah? Hearing you say that makes me really happy. Thanks.
By the way, where’s Nagi? I wanted to ask him how he’s settling in at HAMA House.
I thought he’d be with you.
Momiji / Kaede: Yeah… I don’t think he feels comfortable there yet. I figured I could stay with him today but I don’t see him anywhere. I wonder if he’s taking a break somewhere.
Nagi: ……
(Actually, I’ve been diagonally behind them the entire time, but neither of them have noticed me.)
Sonia: Um, Nagi-san, what’re you doing her–
Nagi: Shh. It’s fine.
Sonia: But…
Nagi: Look, even if they notice me, I’ll just be making them feel guilty for what happened for the past 2 months. Besides…
Both of them might end up getting squashed under the catering table all of a sudden if I started talking to them.
Sonia: Will that really happen? Looks to me like the table is firmly secured to the floor, though.
Nagi: No, no one knows what will happen. This is my first time being invited to a party. I don’t know what normally “happens” at one.
Only God knows what will happen… It wouldn’t be strange if a large number of aliens were to raid this happy environment. I’m worried. I can barely sit still. My heart can’t deal with this.
Okay. I should head home as quickly as I can.
Sonia: What!?
Renga: Here you are, Nagi!
Nagi: …Oh, Renga. And Raito-san.
Raito: Hey. We haven’t seen each other since the leader meet-up at the company office, right? Welcome to HAMA House, Nagi. You, too, Sonia.
Sonia: It’s a pleasure to meet you.
Renga: I can’t believe someone as nice as you is in the Night Group and you’re also the leader. That’s reassuring for me too–
Nagi: It’s far too much for my heart to handle.
Renga: Huh?
Nagi: Oh, uhh, thanks for the invite, I guess.
Raito: Haha, what’re you saying? This is going to be your home starting today.
Nagi: Oh, right. Sorry, just a habit. I’m a bit flustered since it’s an environment I’m not quite used to yet.
Renga: Oh, I thought so. You’re, uh… not really good at handling these sorts of things, huh. Are you okay?
Raito: You’re so kind and considerate towards the newcomer, Renga.
Renga: I–I’m not trying to be considerate or something… Oh, the toilet’s over there, if you’re wondering.
Nagi: Oh, yeah. I know.
Sonia: Nagi-san couldn’t get used to the environment and holed himself up in there 5 times already.
Nagi: Shhh.
Raito: Renga, bringing the toilet up while we’re eating might not be the most appropriate.
Renga: I–I didn’t mean it that way…! He looked pretty gloomy despite it being a celebration today, so I wondered if he upset his stomach or something…
Nagi: This is something I’ve had since I was born, so it’s okay. Anyway, how is the rose doing?
Renga: Oh, right, the rose! Thanks to you, my grandmother’s roses were finally able to bloom!
It’s all starting to take shape with the pruning techniques you showed me.
Nagi: I see you’re well-liked by the plants. You’re a quick-learner too – maybe you’re a gardening genius.
Renga: Wow, really!? I’m a gardening genius…? I–I don’t think that’s quite right, though…
Raito: Renga, you wanted to talk about Nagi, right?
Renga: O–Oh, right. How have you been? Good?
Nagi: Yep. I even delivered flowers for your lounge.
Renga: Oh, yeah. I got Nagi to pick out some flowers for my lounge and the guests love it…
Nagi: I wouldn’t have been able to put it together had it not been for your ideas. So that was all you, Renga.
Renga: Nah… I don’t have the knack for that…! Oh, but I did take time to think about what would suit the Nishizono family’s image… Ugh, so who’s the one that did a good job here…?
Raito: Haha. It’s fine to say it was thanks to both of your efforts.
*In another part of the room*
Yodaka: “Wild Seven - Executive Omega”, the famous sake brand. To think I would see it here.
……
(A crisp taste and a fruity aftertaste… Ahh, I’d love to have this in a glass rimmed with sugar or salt.)
(There should be some in the catering corner…)
*Bump*
Liguang: ……
Yodaka: Oh… I’m sorry. It seems I bumped into your shoulder.
I didn’t cause you to drop your glass, did I?
Liguang: …No.
Yodaka: Thank goodness. I’m Yodaka Natsume, no.17’s ward mayor. Pleased to meet you.
Liguang: (...A handshake?)
I’m Lu Liguang – the 4th ward mayor.
*Flash*
Yodaka: ……
Liguang: Oh?
Yodaka: (A part of the skin on his ring finger is hardened. This means…)
Liguang: (This guy is also a mahjong enthusiast.)
Yodaka: ……
Liguang: ……
Yodaka: What’s your mahjong history?
Liguang: I held a mahjong tile when I was in my mother’s womb.
Yodaka: I see… I’d love to see your excellent play in person one day.
How about a game sometime?
Liguang: Sure but I’d prefer at least another player…
Oi.
Kinari: ?
Liguang: Can you play mahjong?
Kinari: I have never played, but I can install the rules in less than a minute.
Yodaka: Great. How about tonight, then? I wouldn’t mind playing as a group of three, but I’ll look for a fourth player just in case.
Liguang: I don’t mind but I won’t be giving you any counting sticks.
Yodaka: Hehe. You’re the type of person to steal and hide the woman you’d want, hm? The counting sticks will choose the side they prefer. …That will be me, of course. Kinari: ……

Today, while I can still remain here - Nishizono Renga Birthday SSR Card Story Translation
Happy Birthday, Renga!
(Translation notes at the end)
Renga: (Today’s the birthday of “Nishizono Renga”.)
Renga: (I heard from my manager that there's a leading role lined up that only I can play.)
Renga: Alright, my looks are on point.Time to go.
Yukikaze: Renga.
Yukikaze: Target secured.
Renga: Hah!?
Renga: …
Muneuji: Hachinoya-san. Excuse me, can you raise the rightmost decoration by 2 millimeters? It’s sloping ever so slightly.
Nagi: Got it. Still, it’s really pretty, this ornament.
Muneuji: According to Lu-senpai, it’s customary for celebrations in China. Certainly, the golden glow creates a festive atmosphere.
Renga: ………..
Kafka: Chief-chan, is that the last dish? The drinks have already been brought over.
Chief: Yup. All that’s left is the cake! Yuki-nii is doing a final inspection on it.
Shuumai: Woof. Woof, woof.
Renga: What’s going on?”
Renga: Chief and Yukikaze brought me to the living room all of sudden, sat me down on the sofa with Shuumai, and now a party’s starting!?
Ten: Renga-san, looking good~ That “Today’s protag” sash suits you.
Renga: Hey, Ten! Don’t tell me… No, there’s no doubt…!
Ten: That’s right~. Everyone’s been working hard all night to celebrate your birthday, Renga-san.
Ten: Your manager did us a favor and freed up your schedule for today. Man, everyone’s going at it.
Renga: My manager was in on it…! I had no idea at all…
Renga: (Just when I thought I wouldn’t be able to celebrate today because of work…! So this is what my manager meant with the “leading role only I can play!”)
Renga: That means… all this food and decorations are for me?
Toi: Need to align them by height a bit better… there. Acrylic stands and Uchiwa fans go over here…
Renga: …Hm? What is Toi doing?
Kafka: Making a shrine. It's a custom among fans who want to do something extravagant for their favorite celebrity's birthday, and Toi can relate all too well.
Kafka: Hand-making goods and amassing official ones... He’s been arranging merch and fan letters that arrived at your office since morning.
Renga: Since morning!? Then I should he…!
Liguang: Hold it.
Renga: Uwah! What’s wrong with you, Liguang, pushing me onto the sofa all of sudden!
Linguang: Stop messing around and sit down like a guest of honor should. It pisses me off to look at you.
Renga: You, you didn’t have to put it that way!
Shuumai: Woof!
Renga: …Are you saying I should sit down too, Shuumai?
Shuumai: Woofwoof!
Renga: …! I, I see. Got it.
Renga: (Since I’m playing a role no one else can do, I should act the part… everyone's be happier that way, right?)
Renga: …
Toi: Whew… Is this the last one?
Toi: Ah? There’s still one box left! I need to open it quickly!
Renga: That’s it, I can’t do it anymore!
Renga: Toi! Let me give you a hand!
Liguang: Tsk.
Ten: My, my.
Yukikaze: Sorry to keep you waiting. Please, give it up for the “Golden Sunrise Celeb Rose Cake”.
Kafka: We’re all finished here, what about you?
Toi: All done! Thanks to Renga-san, we’ve completed the shrine!
Chief: Then, let’s get the party started!
Chief: Renga-kun.
HAMA Tours: Happy Birthday!
Renga: Tha…thank you.
Ten: Here, for you. It’s a dog toy. Go nuts and play with Shuumai until it breaks.
Nagi: I chose shears for pruning roses. Feel free to ask for gardening advice anytime.
Yukikaze: My present is a travel bag. It has a large capacity and many pockets, so it can fit plenty of snacks, tissues and the like. I hope it comes in handy for both studio and location shooting.
Renga: (All of these presents have so much feeling behind them. I can tell how much they thought of me when choosing these.)
Yukikaze: …Is someone at the door?
Toi: Ah… I’ll get it!
Toi: Uwah!?
Muneuji: There was a huge noise.
Renga: What happened, Toi?
Toi: We’ve a p…problem! The gift box got stuck in the door!
Courier: A parcel for Nishizono-sama. Please sign here.
Kafka: With this volume, it can hardly be called a present, can it? It’s more like a shipment of goods for a sales event.
Nagi: The door is creaking. Better use the front entrance.
Yukikaze: It’s from Renga’s father. The note says “To Renga, and the HAMA Tours employees who always look after my son.”
Yukikaze: What a kind parent.
Chief: Amazing, Renga-kun! You received such a huge present!
Renga: Well, I guess? Once you get on my level, that's normal…
Toi: I wonder if I can carry it somehow…
Renga: Hey, Toi! Don’t try to carry it alone!
Ten: Is it okay for today’s protag to be such a busy bee?
Liguang: Tsk, he doesn’t realize he’s just causing extra headaches on the organizers’ side.
(the Live 2D animations (wordlessly) show that Renga tries to help Toi, starts shaking, probably because he can't handle the weight, but Yukikaze and Nagi catch and stabilize him)
Chief: Ahaha… Isn’t that just like him, though?
Part 2
Renga: Nom, nom… The cake Ushio made is really tasty….
Renga: I feel like I’ve heard enough “congratulations” today to last me a lifetime.
Renga: The birthday party was fun, too.
(flashback)
Nanaki: Then, it’s a promise. On our next day off?
Renga: Ah, yeah. Thanks for the invite, Nanaki. Can’t wait for the live soccer match.
Nanaki: I’m glad you’re on board. I have two replica uniforms, so let's wear them when we go.
Nanaki: Sunglasses will be a must for you, though… It’d be something else if people realized you’re at the venue, Nishizono-san.
Shuumai: Woofwoof, woof!
Renga: What’s up, Shuumai, you want to go, too?
Renga: Too bad, you can’t enter the stadium. Cheer up, I’ll toss you the ball I got from Ten…
Yachiyo: R-R-R-Renga-san! Renga-sa-!
Yachiyo: Uwa-!?
*sound of things falling over*
Nanaki: He fell head first into a cardboard box…
Renga: Yachiyo, you alright?
Yachiyo: S-sorry! I tried, but I couldn’t pull the brakes fast enough!
Renga: Why’re you in such a hurry?
Yachiyo: W-w-well, there was a letter for Renga-san left at the door, so I wanted to deliver it…
Renga: A postcard? Wonder who sent it…
Renga: (Happy Birthday to the both of us)
Renga: …!
Renga: I see. Thanks for bringing it to me.
(flashback ends)
Renga: It was a good day.
Renga: Who’s it?
Kinari: Nishizono-sama, excuse me for bothering you during your rest.
Kinari: I have been designated as your gift-giver as a part of the Random Gift System.
Renga: I-it’s time!
Renga: Much appreciated. Well, come in.
Kinari: Understood. Then, if you would accept this item.
Renga: A rose shaped… earring?
Kinari: After receiving the order, I discovered it while searching for a gift that would be suitable for Nishizono-sama.
Kinari: The initial search returned 27506 results. Subsequently, the list was narrowed down to 18549 options.
Kinari: I’ve heard from the Master that Nishizono-sama is partial to roses, which is why I’ve chosen this accessory.
Renga: You also put lots of thought into it. I really appreciate that.
Kinari: Happy Birthday, Nishizono-sama. May you be loved by many people from now on, as well.
Renga: I-idiot! That much is a given!
Renga: After all… After all, I’m Nishizono Renga!
Renga: (Up until now, I’ve always tried to act in a way that’d befit [Nishizono Renga])
Renga: But today is a little different than usual. I feel like they’re also celebrating [me]).
Renga: I’m glad I could stay here.
Staff: Time for a commercial!
MC: Renga-kun, wasn’t it your birthday the other day? Congrats.
Renga: Yeah, thanks.
MC: I’ve been wondering, are these earrings something you brought from home? They look great on you!
Renga: Right? It’s because they were chosen by an important friend… as a gift that suits me best!
You can read my translations of the Mayors and Yachiyo's voice lines for Renga's birthday here!
Translation notes:
The card story title: ここにいらえる今日を, is cut off: it's missing a verb that should go after を, so the information what is exactly done with/about this day (ここにいらえる is modifying, or describing what kind of "today" it is, instead). This is possibly to make it more ambiguous in meaning and slightly foreboding. You could put fill the blank in different ways, but since there's no clear indication and the difference in sentence structure would place the missing verb at the beginning, I decided to leave it out altogether to avoid further confusion.
Some possible ways to complete the title would be, for example: to celebrate, to cherish, to remember; or it could also be a toast, if you added 祝して、乾杯 at the end, as in "Cheers to today"
Renga's manager: As far as I know their gender isn't known, so I tried to avoid personal pronouns.
Renga shrine: Japanese fans are known for their extravagance while practicing this custom, such as renting a whole studio room and lining up hundreds of items, so I took some liberties with Kafka's first line to emphasize that - he only mentions fans who "want to celebrate" and that doesn't really relay the scale of what seems to have been going on, what with Toi having multiple boxes of stuff prepared.

Designs of Happiness - Track A09
L4mps Main Story Translation
Title: HAMA Tours Party
Characters: Nagi, Yodaka, Kafka, Renga, Liguang
Summary: A toast is raised for finding tourism ward mayors for all 18 wards of HAMA. Nagi is nowhere to be found as the leaders gather…
Thank you aca @463ce6 and jes @arcanecrayonn for proofing! And thank you Sou @/716chr for helping me with Chihiro's dialogues!
Location: HAMA House - Living room
Kafka: Now, I’d like to start this party off with a toast. I am Kafka Oguro, president and CEO of HAMA Tours.
Kafka: For the sake of reviving HAMA as a designated tourism ward, we have been searching far and wide the past few months for personnel who share that same dream…
Kafka: Finally, we’ve accomplished one of our goals: To instate mayors for all 18 wards of HAMA.
Kafka: I would first like to thank all the fellow staff who took a bet on me– Thank you, truly. We’ve gone through a lot to get here.
Momiji: …..
Yachiyo: *ugly sobbing* We really went through a lot! I think I’m gonna cry…!
Kafka: Morning, noon and evening— It was never straightforward for us. The only reason we got through it all is because each and every one of you tapped into the potential you hold, as fellow human beings.
Kafka: —The Night Team has only just been formed, but thanks to the Chief and Daniel-san, I believe we’ve gathered the best possible additions to accomplish our dream.
Kafka: Toi of “Fortune-Teller’s Parlor: Angel Eye,” Yodaka of “Ten Nights of Dreams BAR,” Netaro of “Cafe369,” and finally… Nagi of “Flower Laundry.” I’d like to formally welcome all of you once again.
Nagi: …..
Yodaka: Glad to be here.
Toi: *sigh* …Will I truly be able to find Ani-sama…?
Kiroku: …!
Kiroku: (Huh, it’s Toi-kun… But where’s Ryui-kun then…?)
Chihiro: My-oh-my~? Ain’t that the same cutie who came to Chii’s last meet-and-greet~?
Raito: …..
Chihiro: Hm? Raitin, what’s wrong?
Raito: No, it’s nothing…
Kafka: After the Night Team holds their First Tour, I’m sure we’ll be able to overcome the hurdle of getting 20 million tourists to visit HAMA.
Kafka: …I give my heartfelt welcome to all 18 ward mayors gathered here. With that said…
Kafka: To a bright future for HAMA and all its wards… Cheers!
Momiji: Cheers!
*clapping*
Sakujiro: Excellent work, Chief.
Daniel: Yo! How’s it going~?
Momiji: Everyone… Cheers to all our hard work up till now!
Yachiyo: Cheers~! Wow, I feel like one of those rich people you see in American dramas!
Nayuki: Oh? Chief, you’re only having juice?
Daniel: What’s up with that? It’s not like you don’t drink, why not get sloshed like the rest of us?
Momiji: That’s true, but I have some work I need to do later.
Yachiyo: Eek! I’m in the same boat, how could I drink away like I don’t have a care in the world…!
Momiji: You should be okay because you can hold your liquor well, Yachiyo-kun.
Yachiyo: Yep! I’ll do my best even if I’m drunk as a skunk!
Nayuki: He’s a pain in the neck when he gets drunk, so I suggest you work in your room later, Chief.
Sakujiro: I am pleased to see the two of you so enthusiastic about your work. At long last, we have finally managed to reach the starting line.
Yachiyo: Too bad that the Night Team only has four members instead of the usual five…
Momiji: It couldn’t be helped. There’s only wards from 0 to 18 afterall…
Daniel: Well, the hard part’s only just comin’. Don’t let yer guard down Chief~
Momiji: Yes! I will try even harder to put my best foot forward for the company and HAMA—
Daniel: Ugh! Gimme a break, yer gonna get me sober again with all that work talk.
Momiji: Aw, but…
Sakujiro: Indeed. Not even the God of Travel would find fault with you for taking a respite tonight.
Daniel: That drink over there is callin’ my name so… See ya later.
Yachiyo: Oh, I think I’ll get seconds on that delicious and expensive-looking roast beef…
Nayuki: Fuefuki-san, let me get it for you. I’m worried you’ll end up diving headfirst into the chocolate fondue if I leave you to your own devices…
Momiji: Ahaha…
Sakujiro: Then, I shall return to making the rounds and greeting everyone. I hope you enjoy your time tonight.
Momiji: Yes, see you!
Momiji: …..
Momiji: (We’ve finally gathered all 18 ward mayors… I still feel like I’m dreaming…)
Kafka: Having fun, [Name]-chan?
Momiji: Hey, Kafka. That was a great speech you gave earlier. It reminded me of that promise we made on the roof… I couldn’t help but feel emotional.
Kafka: Is that so? Hearing that from you is what makes me the happiest, thank you.
Kafka: By the way, have you seen Nagi? I wanted to ask him if he was feeling comfortable at HAMA House…
Kafka: I assumed that he’d be with you.
Momiji: Right… I was thinking of sticking with him too, since he’s probably not used to this kind of atmosphere… But I haven’t seen him around at all. I wonder if he’s resting somewhere…
Nagi: …..
Nagi: (I’ve actually been standing cater-cornered behind them this whole time but… Neither of them have noticed me yet.)
Sonia: Um, Nagi-shan is right here—
Nagi: Shh, it’s ok.
Sonia: But…
Nagi: If you tell them now, they'll keep thinking about it and feeling bad every time they see me, even two months from now, and I don't want that. Besides—
Nagi: If they talk to me, they might somehow end up crushed beneath one of the catering tables for all we know…
Sonia: I doubt shumthing like that would happen… The tables are practically nailed to the floor.
Nagi: No, we can never be too sure. Besides, I’ve never been to a party for as long as I can remember, so I don’t even know what to expect at one of these anyways. What “pattern” should I prepare myself for in this situation…?
Nagi: Being able to attend a party feels like I won the lottery*, so I have no idea what might happen after this. I wouldn’t be surprised if some aliens decided to crash the party to restore the balance. This is no good, I feel too anxious…
Nagi: Yeah, okay. I should just leave.
Sonia: Eh!?
Renga: Here you are, Nagi!
Nagi: …Ah, Renga. And, um, Raito-san.
Raito: Hey there. Haven’t seen you since our last leader meeting, right? I wanted to welcome you again to HAMA House— And you too, Sonia.
Sonia: Thank you very mush for the invite.
Renga: I-I’m glad a great guy like you is on board with us! It’s very, uh, heartening–
Nagi: Meanwhile I don’t think my heart can take any more of this.
Renga: Huh?
Nagi: Oh, just saying that I’m sorry for intruding, yep.
Raito: Haha, now why would you say that? This is your home too, now.
Nagi: Oh you’re right. Just a force of habit. I can’t help but panic, being in such an unfamiliar situation.
Renga: I figured as much… You seem like the type who wouldn’t be used to any of this… Um, you doing okay…?
Raito: That’s very kind of you, Renga. It shows good leadership to look after the newcomers.
Renga: I-I’m not really doing this out of… Ah, the toilet’s over there, by the way.
Nagi: Oh, um, yeah, I know.
Sonia: Nagi-shan holed himself up in the bathroom five times already because he was too nervous…
Nagi: Shhh….
Raito: Renga, it's a bit impolite to mention that when everyone’s in the middle of eating.
Renga: T-That’s not what I meant…! It’s just that, he looks so gloomy when we’re all celebrating here… I thought his stomach might be hurting or something…
Nagi: It’s okay, my face has always looked like this. More importantly, how are your roses? Are they doing well?
Renga: Oh yeah, the roses! Thanks to all your advice, my grandmother’s roses are all blooming beautifully!
Renga: The topiary on which you taught me how to prune looks nice and healthy still.
Nagi: I’m sure the plants adore you, Renga. You’re quick on the uptake too, you must be some sort of gardening genius.
Renga: Eh, you think so!? A gardening genius… Um, on second thought, maybe that doesn’t sound right…
Raito: Renga, didn’t you have something you wanted to ask Nagi?
Renga: O-Oh, that’s right. How’ve you been all this time? You doing good?
Nagi: I’d say so. I delivered the flowers to your house recently too.
Renga: Right, right. We picked out an arrangement for the lobby, and it turned out to be a big hit with the clients…
Nagi: You knew exactly what you wanted, so I was able to make the arrangement thanks to that. So really, it was all you and your great taste.
Renga: No, um… It’s not like I have great taste… Then again, I did my best to think about what would suit the image of the Nishizono family…. But wait, then that’s not really my taste is it…
Raito: Haha, let’s just say you both did a good job and leave it at that.
~~~
Yodaka: The famous “Wild Seven - Executive Omega,” to think I would get to meet you here…
Yodaka: …..
Yodaka: (What a crisp flavor… after which a fruity afternote hits the tongue. Ah… I think it’d taste even better if I rim the glass with salt…)
Yodaka: (I think there should be some over at the catering corner—)
*bump*
Liguang: …..
Yodaka: Oh dear. Pardon me, I wasn’t paying attention.
Yodaka: I hope I didn’t make you spill your drink?
Liguang: …It’s fine.
Yodaka: That’s a relief. I’m Yodaka Natsume, soon to be 17th ward mayor. It’s nice to meet you.
Liguang: (A handshake, huh…)
Liguang: Lu Liguang, 4th ward mayor.
*a flash*
Yodaka: …..
Liguang: —Oh?
Yodaka: (A part of the skin on his ring finger is hardened… That means—)
Liguang: (—He’s a mahjong player too.)
Yodaka: …..
Liguang: …..
Yodaka: How long have you been playing?
Liguang: Let’s just say I was born with a tile in my hand.
Yodaka: Oh my… I would certainly love to see your skills in action.
Yodaka: How about playing a round sometime?
Liguang: Not a bad idea… But we’ll need at least one more player.
Liguang: Oi.
Kinari: ?
Liguang: Do you know how to play mahjong?
Kinari: I have not played it before. However, it is possible for me to download and install the rules of the game within one minute, if required.
Yodaka: Well, aren’t you quick? We could have our game sooner than I thought… How about tonight? We could go ahead and play with just the three of us, but maybe we should search for one more player in the meantime.
Liguang: As you wish. But keep in mind, you’re not getting any points from me.
Yodaka: Fufu, you’re the type of man to steal away and hide the woman you want, hm? It’s fine, the point sticks will decide who they want to go with… and it will be me.
Kinari: …..
Note:
When I translated Nagi saying "-feels like I won the lottery," the original line has him say 役満空間 (yakuman kuukan) which is one of his strange analogies where he means that he feels like he's in a super rare and happy situation akin to getting a 'yakuman', which is a is a special winning condition in mahjong which is very difficult to obtain. So I decided to use "winning the lottery" to mean something similar and easier to understand.
Point sticks or 点棒 (tenbou) are used to keep track of scores in mahjong.
