Kimbell Art Museum / Louis I. Kahn / 1972 / Fort Worth, Texas, USA
The Kimbell Art Museum is largely regarded as one of the crowning achievements of modern architecture. It is constructed almost entirely from white oak, travertine, and concrete. Kahn is known for his monolithic, monumental designs inspired by ancient ruins.
To protect delicate art, daylight has to be carefully managed in museums. Many museums opt for 100% electric lighting, but for the design of the Kimbell, Louis Kahn worked with lighting consultant Richard Kelly on the aluminum reflectors which provide indirect daylighting to the interior of the museum without direct sun to harm the artworks. Here is a simple diagram I made showing how it works:

On a personal note, I visited the Kimbell Art Museum last year during a 10 hour layover at DFW on the way home from my grandmother's funeral, and while it looks simple in terms of its materiality and design, the lighting is phenomenal. When the sun was out, the ceiling would glow, and the whole space had gentle, warm light. When a cloud moved overhead, you could see the lighting becoming softer and bluer in real time. Photos really don't capture the effect, so if you're in the area, I can't recommend visiting enough. Admission is always free.

Portrait of Monsieur G. Giving his Daughter a Geography Lesson, 1812, Napoleonic era
Louis-Léopold Boilly, French
“This portrait was shown in 1812 and in 1814 at the Paris Salon, the highly publicized, state-sponsored exhibition of contemporary art. Boilly titled the painting M[onsieur] G* * * giving his daughter a geography lesson; the sitter, whose identity remains unknown, was likely a Napoleonic administrator. Historical geography was promoted as a field of study for both boys and girls in Napoleonic France, whose maps were subject to frequent revision with each new conquest. Here the sphinx and pyramid in the cartouche of the map no doubt refer to Napoleon’s Egyptian expedition of 1798–1801; the globe shows Europe and Africa. The fine detail of the Geography Lesson is indebted to Dutch domestic genre paintings of the seventeenth century, many incorporating maps and books into middle-class homes. Boilly himself had a notable collection of works by Dutch masters such as Gerard Terborch and Gabriel Metsu.”

The Raising Of Lazarus
Artist: Duccio di Buoninsegna  (Italian, 1255–1319)
Part of: Maestà
Genre: Religious Painting
Date: c. 1310–1311
Medium: Tempera and Gold on Panel
Collection: Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth, Texas
Description
The Raising of Lazarus is representational of the biblical event from which it gets its name, and is one of the oldest paintings the Kimbell Art Museum has in its possession. It was painted sometime between the years 1308 and 1311.
The subject matter of the painting is the very moment after Christ told Lazarus to come out of his tomb. The women seem to still be grieving and the looks of astonishment have not yet covered the faces of those gathered to see what Jesus is going to do next. It is an exact moment framed forever in a picture. A good summary of the subject matter is the title of the painting, The Raising of Lazarus. It is not the moment when Christ told Lazarus to come out. It is not the moment when everyone becomes astonished by the newest work of Christ. It is the moment after Christ’s command and before astonishment set in when Lazarus was raised from death back to life.
