it's time to make my annual propaganda post about my theory that Liliana Vess is secretly Killian Lu's mom.

this explains why Liliana has a framed portrait of Killian's dad in her office:

and it makes her extremely suspicious interaction with Killian and Embrose in "A Radiant Heart" make a lot more sense.

in "The Chains That Bind", Killian says his mom died when he was a baby, and he doesn't remember her. but i say he only THINKS she died. buddy, she didn't die. she planeswalked.

Qian Lu (淺鷺 /Qiǎn lù) => "elegant lady"

Laohu (老虎 /Lǎohǔ) => "tiger boy"

I created these 2 for a collab on Instagram, whose theme was "fashion in Chinatown".

Qian Lu is a sorceress over 300 years old, she used to be vegan, was a homebody and had a strong connection with nature, but after recovering from what could be a serious illness or strong curse, she completely changed, almost as if she were another person.

Laohu was adopted as a child by Qian, he has a strong personality and a short temper, he agreed to live with Qian because he thought she was too clumsy to be alone; He was completely shaken by what had happened to her, and since then, he swore to protect his only family with claws and teeth

They are gonna live in the same universe as Killian✨️

Speaking of Professor Onyx being mommy, I firmly believe in the theory that Liliana was Killian Lu's mom.

In the story "The Chains That Bind", Dina unknowingly finds Liliana's old journal, in which she recorded her attemps to find ways to resurrect her brother when she was a student at Strixhaven.

Killian tells Dina that his mother died when he was very young. But I don't think she died. I think she planeswalked. 🤨

Why does Liliana have a framed picture of Killian's dad in her office?

Why does Liliana pay special attention to Killian appearing? Why do Liliana and Embrose speak to each other that way? Why does Liliana have such a strong emotional reaction to Killian's messed up relationship with his dad? There's something there.

And you may be thinking, "Killian is only a sophomore in college, wouldn't Liliana have attended Strixhaven long before he was born?" No, actually.

Liliana's journal indicates that she'd been an oldwalker doing oldwalker things for a long time before she attended Strixhaven.

So. I'm just sayin.

Saproling becomes an actual creature type on a creature card! This is amazing. It certainly helps me wanting to make Saproling decks now. Now I just need need Killian Lu's inkling, Doco to get a card so that I can work on an Inkling deck.

Wanted to give all my rarepairs/crackships but 30 tags isn't enough

What is... a rarepair?

Rarepair refers to a rare pairing inside a fandom. This means that a pairing that someone ships does not have a lot of fanart or fanfiction about them or anything at all.

While crackships are always rarepairs, these rare pairings can make a lot of sense in canon, but they are just not that popular. But they often also refer to shipping characters that do not interact in canon at all, maybe not even know each other in the source material.

There are no exact numbers on when a pairing is considered a rarepair but some characteristics are that the tag on AO3 does not have a lot of hits and that most of the entries were written by the same person.

Shipping a rarepair can be frustrating, when you feel like you are alone in your love for a pairing, but it can also be fun to be able to shape the pairing together with two, three other shippers however you want them, because you basically own the ship by solely contributing to it.

I made a playlist for Liliana Vess, specifically her character from the perspective of after War of the Spark, concerning her state of grief with Gideon, and her eventual healing on Strixhaven

For a bit more context, I an a bit of a fan of the Liliana x Embrose Lu theory, and think that their dynamic, especially with Killian being her estranged son, would be a really interesting story to tell. So, thats the reason for a couple of the songs there.

I think Liliana is a really interesting and engaging character and think that a lot more can still be done with her story, especially now after the Phyrexian invasion, and I hope we see her again soon in the story.

“I see the oil did you no favors.”

Killian’s prose formed a spell and shot out like a fireball, only to bounce harmlessly off the Phyrexian’s magic shield. Rather than retaliate, however, the compleated professor merely uttered a mechanical laugh from behind the wall of light.

“What’s the matter, Mr. Lu? You made a spell - from scratch - to bring me back to…life…? Well, anyways, and now you can’t even break a simple shield spell?”

The Silverquill student panted from exhaustion, yet the Phyrexian showed no such signs of flagging. Slowly, Killian slumped to his knees, and the professor approached.

“Go ahead, Miss Svetlana,” Killian sighed. “Let me have it.”

“As you wish, Mr. Lu.”

Svetlana leaned down and pointed to Killian’s hunched posture.

“As per usual, the problem is with your stance. Show it to me, if you would, please.”

With a tired grunt, Killian pulled himself to his feet and adopted a combat stance. Svetlana tsked at his form and waggled a finger, along with several metallic tendrils tipped with glowing eyes.

“You slouch. Likely a habit brought about by long-term close proximity to-”

“I know,” Killian growled. “I’ll work on it, as quick as I can.”

Svetlana uttered a staticky laugh. “Please, Mr. Lu. With me as I am, I think we have all the time in the world to practice. And besides, it is the least I can do for you as thanks for…reactivating me? That sounds right, I think. Though, I must ask: why reactivate me in the first place? Surely you didn’t know I was friendly?”

“Zimone actually told me,” Killian sighed. “But more than that…it just didn’t feel fair. You…and Dean Shaile…and pretty much all the other faculty, all of whom were always there for me and my friends, got turned into these…Phyrexians. And my father didn’t.”

Svetlana nodded wryly. “Mr. Lu, while I cannot say I feel nearly as negatively about my ‘condition’ as you do, I can say that you have my full sympathy for your tense relationship with Dean Embrose. And, while I do not know how to resolve that conflict, I believe I at least have an idea for how to include him in our training. Perhaps this could allow you two to talk some things out?”

“Couldn’t hurt,” Killian shrugged. “What did you have in mind?”

Svetlana smirked.

“Perhaps you might learn better from watching.”

“Even as a Phyrexian, you are- ACK!”

Dean Embrose cried out as a metal eyestalk slapped him across the face, harming him little but still disrupting his spell. Svetlana continued her relatively harmless assault, keeping Embrose distracted as Killian watched intently.

“You see, Mr. Lu? Even when under duress, your father’s posture is impeccable.”

While Killian nodded enthusiastically, Embrose growled at the Phyrexian, and began preparing another spell. “So, you’re teaching my son?” spat the dean.

“The least I could do. He saved me.”

“Hmph…With how you’re handling me right now, I believe he’s in good hands.”

Svetlana fixed Embrose with a mocking smirk. “Perhaps I could teach you a thing or two while we’re at it.”

“Don’t get ahead of yourself.”

Omg. Someone who heard the mtg podcast section where I talked about Killian Lu apparently told my partner that she got the impression that I "am active in fanfic circles"

And now I am absolutely freaking out that this person, who is an actual real physical person of flesh and blood in my near vicinity, has read my MtG fanfic (which happens to be, like, the only KillianXdina fic in existence) and that this was a HINT FOR ME THAT SHE KNOWS
