me and Beez were thinking of aus where Shuichi purposefully drops his acting career to do something else out of spite towards his parents, but this time concept is actually still a form of acting

i know that sounds like it contradicts the whole concept but hear me out- the idea here is Shuichi's parents started him out as a kid actor for kids media, then their plan was for him to stay as an actor in kids media even well into adulthood so he could be a beloved household name and source of nostalgia for several generations. they wanted him to be Mr Rodgers+

Shuichi however hated being in kids shows, actively loathing having to do it. as he got older he started to distance himself from his parents because of this, even before he could legally break away from them fully he'd do everything in his power to spend more time at his uncle's house when he could, and when he hit 18 he moved in with his uncle who gladly took him in.

from there he decided because he's put so much energy into acting already, it'd be kinda stupid to drop it right when he needs to start making money for himself, so instead he works to start shifting his acting into more mature stuff. he found himself interested in horror in particular, usually the trashier unapologetic sub-genres like slashers, splatter, and avant garde. getting to act in those became both a fun way for him to give his parents a middle-finger by tearing his kid friendly rep to shreds, and cathartic because he could blow off some steam when he got to be the killers by channeling his frustration into the acting

Beez also suggested a way to saiouma this and it's so good i can't just not say it sooooo-

Kokichi grew up watching the shows Shuichi starred in as a kid, and even had a childhood crush on him at one point that should have been his first hint he was gay. as an adult he himself got into acting and by some miracle ended up acting in the same horror movie as Shuichi, now he's gotta try and act normal around the guy that is not only his childhood celebrity crush, but now also his current crush.

this is not easy for Kokichi to do considering he's suppose to be playing the lead and Shuichi the killer that's after him, resulting in him getting pinned and cornered alot more than his little gay heart can take

honestly this au just really is self indulgent for me because i love the idea of Shuichi being into horror

Chiastic Structure of S2

The post preceding this is Chiastic Structure of S1.

S1 was neat, tidy and simple compared to S2.

S2 was...difficult. I have a feeling this is because of the missing minisodes. There felt like there were "holes" in places, where there was a strong scene with no corresponding pair, and yet in others there were single lines matching up.

You will also notice its quite...skewed? The hinging midpoint is right at the end of Ep4, which means the last two episodes mirror the preceding the four! So there are gaps. For example, the conversation in the pub in Ep2 doesn't match with anything specific.

One of the things I hoped it might shed some light on was the purpose of the trip to Edinburgh, which seems like a bit of a dead end. It does, in a way - I will discuss it a bit further below, along with some other parallels that didn't fit the structure.

Discussion on parallels that didn't fit the structure:

1. Crowley is given permission to destroy all of Job's possessions /  Gabriel refuses to give permission to destroy the Earth aka Armageddon II

There is a repeat emphasis on licenses, permits and authority throughout S2, so I really thought Crowley's permit to destroy of Job's possessions would have a match. It did, but it didn't fit the structure! If you look closely some of the other permits and authority lines do slot in. I'm planning some metas on these topics in the near future, as the use of language around these concepts is quite interesting, and there is some history to throw into the mix as well.

2. Crowley deceives the archangels with the help of an angel

This pair is a reference to Crowley and Aziraphale teaming up in the Job minisode to restore Job's children, and then Muriel aiding Crowley to sneak into Heaven. I'd just like to point out that Crowley could have gone to Heaven on his own - remember Eric went up with the hellfire in S1E6 - but he doesn't know where to go and get Gabriel's file, that is what he needs Muriel for.

3.  Popping up to Edinburgh

Ah, the trip to Edinburgh! Why? WHY!!! Why go all that way for ... nothing?

Guess what - it's a parallel sequence to Crowley popping up to Heaven.

I was going to write a companion piece to this but...my to do list is getting a bit long at the moment. Let me know if you want me to expand on it.

4. Ignoring messages

So this one started as "Nina gets txt messages from Lindsay, Mrs Sandwich says not to look at them," at the start of Ep3, then during the Ball Crowley is trying to lead the humans out of the bookshop and Shax confronts him with another bundle of mail. Crowley is succeeding in ignoring his messages from Hell, but Nina isn't.

5. Muriel and The Interrupted Tea Ceremony

In S2 it noticeable that everyone except Crowley needs permission to enter the bookshop, whereas in S1 they could just walk in. Originally I made a comment elsewhere that I thought this part matched with a sub-story to the Ball, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and hospitality to angels, but then I came back and had another look and saw that there was a surface match - but I'm still going to do another post about the "cupperty" because it keeps getting lost in all the noise!

6. Threats and Declarations of War

Shax makes a number of threats throughout the series, to hunt Crowley down and to declare war on Aziraphale. So when Aziraphale inadvertently declares war on Hell with the halo toss, you'd think there would be a matching pair. There is, but not with a declaration of war, just a threat to Crowley. This is probably one of the weaker pairs.

7. Mysteriosity, audacity, ferocity and dangerocity

The Marvelous Mr Fell and his Mysteriosity has a pair with Shax's speech to her fellow demons about the unprecedented audacity of the attack on the bookshop, and how their lack of numbers will be made up for with their ferocity and...dangerocity. It should have fit, but it didn't.

This is the diptych spread I want to go through with for the formative.

This design poster is an expression of my connection to place, and that is my hometown, Otara.

I've chosen to use the typeface Sepian to resemble a typeface used on an iconic mural in Otara dedicated to local rapper, Face Killah.

I wanted to use the colour green to represent its street signs, to which the street names are well known among locals. I initially started with the colours yellow and black, to resemble the colours on Face Killah's mural. However, with Face Killah being in the Killer Beez gang, I didn't want these colours show that was what Otara represented.

The texts used are taken from Otara's local music artists like Sid Diamond, Face Killah and music group STNDRD. I also used my own writing to emphasise my personal connection to Otara. In the first poster, I've warped the texts into circles, representing O for Otara.

just as I was typing this up, I've thought of taking inspiration from the design of foods that most of us grew up eating in Otara - Starz drink, Big Ben pie

The reading binge reviews continue, this time of a series.

CONTENT: lots of smut in the first part of the series, less in the second. Az is a bitch to nasty people, Gabriel is sort of a lovable asshole, the coffeeshop, the Bentley, Beez,

RATING: Explicit (more part 1 than part 2)

LENGTH: 2 works in series, part 1: 8 chapters / 36k, Part 2: 11 chapters / 58k

RECOMMENDED BECAUSE: Cr and Az are adorable together, Gabriel and Beez really grow on you, and Az gets to be a massive bitch at an art gallery opening when someone is horrid about Crowley.

SUMMARY: Part 1: Painter Crowley has stalled. His career is flying high but a couple of months after a relationship ending, he's artistically blocked. His agent, Gabriel, sends him to go sit in a coffeeshop where you can read - but not buy - the books. He is bowled over by the kindness of the angelic owner… You can guess the rest.

Part 2: Cr & Az having got together some time back, Az mentions one day in passing that he always wanted kids. Much to his surprise, Cr does as well, and they decide to adopt. It's a bit of a rollercoaster.

There's a whole subplot about the art world basically being massive bitches and quite a fun bit in the first one where Az goes Killer Queen on someone. But mostly it's just kind of nice. it's well written and the characters are well drawn. I particularly liked the way Gabriel is kind of an obnoxious asshole, but it's just the way he is and he's completely on their side so they end up getting on really well, particularly when Beez comes back in to the equation. I thought with a little backstory he could have added a bit of extra depth to part 2, but it was fine as was. Pretty sure the emotional arc of the adoption process was very much concertina'd and rose-tinted but tbh you kind of have to do that in a fic of this length.

For the smuthounds amongst you, there are mild elements of gentle dom Az and sex verging mildly on BDSM, but very very mildly, and it's more adventurous vanilla plus than full on BDSM.

BOOKMARKED? TBH although i enjoyed Part 1 it was a bit smut-heavy for me, so I enjoyed it but wasn't that bothered. But in Part 2 the interpersonal stuff comes in a lot more and it's kinda lovely so on balance, yes I think i will.

Alphabet (Google) announced the deletions of YouTube channels inactive for two years or longer. The deadline is December 2023. One of the accounts threatened by Google's new policy is Bradenpurchase (channel ID: UC5MW9fGtWvSBap8-8bjEBmA) belonging to Braden Purchase. Braden Purchase (January 21, 1995 - August 29, 2015) of Winnipeg, MB passed away while on vacation in Vietnam in a traffic accident at the age of 20. Before his death, he uploaded 31 videos to his YouTube channel. It's unknown how many videos were taken down for copyright violations or violating YouTube's Terms of Services (eg. misleading metadata).

Alpha Lance of the Doc B’s Killa Beez “Black Company” out on mercenary war games against Ali’s Killer Grapes, with Bravo Lance observing and taking notes. Despite good drills by all mechwarriors involved from both sides and the Beez holding a disciplined formation. The Grapes where able to break the KB line, coring two machines in the process, a third KB machine failed through over heating, forcing the pilot to eject with the forth fleeing in the field. Severe structural damage done to the Grape lance but not enough to knock any of the machines down.
