MIRRI THE MAESTER. not only did she match marwyn’s freak enough that he taught her about anatomy, but her own people either started calling her “mirri the maester” or she started calling herself that and it stuck. she traveled, potentially on her own, all the way from lhazar to asshai and back again, which feels like an incredible feat given the sheer amount of slavers she’d have to get past. and in the end despite her power she brought all that knowledge back home to her tiny village to help her people!!

call me an idealist a liberal whatever but I absolutely cannot wrap my head around full throatedly proclaiming the good of the Romanov children being executed like.. on the scale of things I don’t want to give undue weight to them over the masses that starved and died under the Romanov dynasty and I can accept it as a flawed choice made by bolsheviks under siege and facing a resurgence of Russian monarchy, like so many other historical evils, one given so much weight only because of anticommunism. But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to view a state murdering children as not evil 🤷

a plotline that has been on my mind lately is like. the whole why would they go through all the training and brainwashing of river to kill the doctor if they'd just control her through a spacesuit? well, a foe as strong and unmoving as the doctor, not just any assassination attempt would work. "the man of peace who understands every kind of warfare, except, perhaps, the cruellest" because he would never die from a gun or a knife or an explosion, he'd find a way out like he always does. they found a way to kill him in the only way he could be killed: if he let himself be killed. and the only way to do that, to truly create a fixed point would be to create something, someone that would be worth it. and river song would always be worth it to him
