I apologize for the delay, because I worked on this drawing for two days, considering that I had other things to do, but I certainly did this now. Unfortunately, I was not able to do last year's celebration of my favorite duck on the occasion of his 90th birthday where he celebrates with his family and friends except for a few drawings, as well as the birthday of Fethry Duck and Panchito Pistoles, so I wanted to bring everything together in my new first New Year's drawing, as they celebrate an important anniversary, and you can see it on the cake where they write in the form of candles.

9/6/1934 The Classic Short “The Wise Little Hen” was shown and Donald Duck appeared there for the first time. Donald Duck will become one of the main stars of not only Disney, but also cartoon films, comics and video games at all. Certainly there is no need to tell his history. Yes, on December 21, 1944, the movie “The Three Caballeros” aired and Panchito Pistoles and the goofy Aracuan Bird appeared in that movie. And that’s how the Three Caballeros team was born, in my opinion the best Disney trio, after Huey, Dewey and Louie. Fethry first appeared in the comic book “The Health Nut” which was published in 1964, and on August 2, in the comic book Topolino number 453, in the American edition it will come out two years later. That comic was written by Dick Kinney and drawn by Al Hubbard. So I wish all of them a happy birthday and happy anniversary. In addition, I wish Daisy Duck a happy 85th birthday this year.

Otherwise, they celebrate in Brazil at Jose Ze Carioca’s (José Carioca-Zé Carioca), because it’s summer there. I drew it in my own way adding a lot of characters as I usually like and mostly I combined from Quack Pack, The Legend of The Three Caballeros, Donald Duck comics (Italian comics), Ze Carioca comics (Brazilian comics), Darkwing Duck, Ducktales both versions, Double Duck and Duck Avenger (Paperinik) comics. It’s mostly part of that Quack Pack AU of mine. I drew mostly in my own way. And this is also part of my version of Modern Three Caballeros. In addition to Donald Duck, Panchito Pistoles, Aracuan Bird and Fethry Duck, there are also their best friend José Zé Carioca, Rosinha Maria Vaz (José's girlfriend), Nestor, Daisy Duck, Gloria Pascoalina (Fethry's girlfriend), Della Duck, Gyro Gearloose, Dickie Duck, Gus Goose, Gladstone Gander, Abner Whitewater Duck, Uno Ducklair (One-Uno), Drake Mallard, Fenton Crackshell, O. K. Quack (a friendly duck from the universe from the Topolino comics), Queen Reginella, Kildare Coot (Sgrizzo), Moby Duck (Donald's distant older cousin next to Fethry Duck), Gandra Dee, Morgana Macawber, Launchpad McQuack, Lyla Lay and Kay K.

Happy late birthday, Fethry Duck!

I don't get around to posting the various events and holiday greetings, but in any case, I wish everyone a happy holiday that has passed!

Yes, even though it's past I'm definitely posting this post with one of my favorite ducks and by the way it's Donald's best cousin. And it's Fethry Duck.

He was not created as one of the Carl Barks characters, but he is certainly one of the characters that was created by Dick Kinney who was the writer and brother of the animator Jack Kinney (who has seen Goofy's classic shorts, knows what I am talking about). Fethry first appeared in the comic book "The Health Nut" which was published in 1964, in the comic book Topolino number 453, in the American edition it will come out two years later. That comic was written by Dick Kinney and drawn by Al Hubbard. Yes, Fethry had hair in the beginning, and later he will have some hair on his hair. After that, Fethry Duck as Donald's cousin will appear many times in various comics, primarily in Brazilian and Italian comics. Fethry has a brother Abner, parents Lulubelle and Eider, a nephew Dugan, his pet cat Tabby, crazy cousin Kildare Coot and cousins Donald, Gladstone, Gus, Huey, Dewey and Louie and a girlfriend Gloria, although he also has a girlfriend who appeared in a Topolino comic. In some cases, Fethry is Dickie's boyfriend, when Dickie is shown as an adult. Yes, it rarely appears in American comics and its only animated appearance is in the Ducktales reboot. Yes, he is hyperactive, loves to explore, is constantly clumsy, changed jobs every time. Yes, he sometimes annoys Donald too, although he likes to help his cousin. He is also considered by some to be Disney's version of Sponge Bob, although there are differences between him and Sponge Bob. Yes, it's also interesting that he was played by Tom Kenny. I wish Fethry would show up more often. Also, Fethry is a superhero as Red Bat (Morcego Vermelho in the Brazilian comics). Yes, Fethry has two birthdays, one is on the 2nd of August and the other is on the 29th of February, although the more canonical 2nd of August is. Duckverse Canon is a Lie

Dear duck fandom; We have almost 80 years of duck comics, starting with good ol’ Carl Barks back in the 40s. It’s absolutely fascinating how well these characters can hold up and with a little “translation” they look as fresh and actual as always!

So, even if there’s a high budget show right now (that is bringing more people into the fandom which makes me very happy) only time will tell if the characters they changed a lot will “stick” or not... Some characters, like Gladstone, organically evolved with the decades; every modern depiction of Gladstone shows a character way more likable and complex than the original half-goose. Same goes for Gus, who originally couldn’t even talk!

Back to my point... One of the beauties of this fandom is how loose our canons are, different authors wrote characters differently, different cultures changed the ducks and Duckburg for them to be more relatable and some characters evolved completely different in different countries (We have an artistic and smart smooth talker Fethry in Brazil, a naive and very childlike Fethry in Italy and a creepy more focused on the weird and crazy side of the character in the Dutch version of him!) 

And isn’t that AMAZING!?

I know a lot of hardcore fans considers Don Rosa’s canon the “canonest”... But even Barks alone wrote some Scrooges being likable and some being downright evil!

Without Brazil, Italy, and the Europeans exclusive comics we wouldn’t have Fethry or a likable Gladstone! Or cousin shenanigans, or the base for Della’s personality for DT, or two more comics featuring Abner Duck (who’s a Barks’ canon character), or obscure characters that I love like Gideon McDuck and Kildare Coot!

Also, Goldie O’Gilt being an adventurer instead of a starving old lady at Scrooge’s mercy, Magica being a complex and badass female character, Elvira having adventures on her own, and a lot of other great strong female characters like Brigitta, Gloria, Dickie, Quackfaster...

So, my dears; there’s no such a thing as a Duckverse canon. Duckburg is a Frankenstein of ideas, decades, and cultures and its a true laboratory on character development! Just take whatever you like from a canon and glue with one another, because that’s what the writers were doing since always! In Brazilian canon, Duckburg is a mere bus trip from Rio de Janeiro!!!

So, you wanna make a story/fanart where DT 2017 version of the triplets need to help Darkwing duck fight against the Fearsome Four who are being paid by comics version of Flintheart Glomgold... and somehow the boys have Count Duckula as an ally!? GO. WILD. You don’t need an AU for that, that’s how things work ‘round these parts! Okay, maybe Duckula is an exception but we adopted him so it’s alright...

Duckverse was always chaos, people used to create random relatives and change the rules for Gladstone’s luck to work every comic... In some comics, Donald can’t cook an egg (Heresy!!!) and Fethry hates nerdy/geeky stuff... (Also heresy!!!)... And Gladstone’s mother and father? Is he adopted? Who the hell are Shamrock’s parents? ...What about Donald being adopted by Grandma and Scrooge, who sometimes are also brothers? You see, absolute utter chaos. In the end, what matters is that you’re having fun!

Well this drawing is not related to Valentine's Day, but I drew these days, that's for my own reasons. It’s not the first time I’ve drawn Donald’s cousins ​​(drawn last year related to Fethry’s birthday), but this time it’s a much better improvement. As you can see in this drawing, there are Donald and his cousins ​​plus his sister Della Duck and he gave everyone a classic style a little combined with the style from comics and cartoons. Yet together they make one part of the Duck family, and all together are grandchildren of Grandma Duck. Della is a pilot, but I gave her a slightly combined style of the classic version with the reboot version plus I was a little inspired by the inspiration of Della Duck from other fanart. Aside from Della Duck, there’s Donald Duck, Fethry Duck hugging his cousin (let’s face it, THIS IS NOT COUSINCEST, nor is Donald and Fethry ship (I don’t like that), simply Fethry loves hugging his cousins ​​and that’s common in the family) , the happy cousin of Gladstone Gander, the stupid and very hungry but good goose Gus Goose, Fethry's brother Abner Whitewater Duck who is awkward but has a good heart and the silly and crazy cousin Kildare Coot (Sgrizzo).
