I am now going to watch more of Kaiju No. 8. Anywho
Kikoru dating someone who is taller then her by an significant amount
(Kaiju No. 8) Kikoru's S/O being taller than her
Kikoru's existence feeds more into my theory that the shorter someone is, the deadlier they are. ...Which that theory doesn't really apply to Mina, since she's 169cm(5'5ft).
Tumblr media
Height: 159cm (5'1ft)
Truthfully? Kikoru isn't particularly bothered by the height difference.
A lot of people tend to be taller than her, sure.
But that doesn't stop Kikoru from being able to absolutely whoop the ass of everyone who is taller, including her S/O.
(Kikoru) "Psh, why would I be troubled by something like height, S/O? I don't care about something so trivial!"
...Until the moment arrives where she can't reach something.
Where she is awkwardly standing in front of a shelf, with S/O in the same room.
With all her boasting of how unaffected she is, Kikoru is at a crossroads.
She could ask for help, or get something to help her, and proving that height can be a problem for her.
(Kikoru) "...Hmph! Like I need anyone's help for this!"
(S/O) "Huh? Did you say some-"
Making sure that her combat suit was deactivated in order to avoid creating a new hole in the wall, she violently kicks it with her foot, making the cup tumble off.
Raising one hand into the air without even looking, Kikoru scoffed at herself for even thinking she needed assistance for the cup!
And she effortlessly catches it with a smug grin, nodding to mostly herself.
All the while leaving S/O terribly confused of what just happened.
Until they connected the dots.
(S/O) "You know, I don't exactly mind helping you getting-"
Immediately spinning around, the slight tinge of red sacrificed any chance of being taken seriously.
(Kikoru) "AND I DON'T MIND YOU MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS! And stop snickering!"
If they keep that grin up, then their shin is next on the kicking list!
She wouldn't actually hurt them, but she wasn't going to admit that either.

thank you
kikoru shinomiya x reader
tw: english isn’t my native language!
***
The evening city spread out beneath them. The wind, cool and playful, ruffled Kikoru’s hair as she sat on the edge of the rooftop, her legs dangling over the side. Far below, the lights of countless multicolored squares and diamonds sparkled, while high above, a clear night sky dotted with stars was visible. There weren't many quiet days without a single kaiju, which is why they were so treasured by members of any division. A jarring screech of a door behind her indicated someone had just entered.
"Relaxing?" you gently pulled Shinomiya away from the thoughts swirling in her head. There was no response. You knew something was wrong. And you knew it was about her father.
“You know, I’m touched," you began immediately, “You’re literally the strongest here, but you still feel the need to surpass the human maximum.”
Kikoru had received compliments from many people, but from you, they sounded different. They weren’t perceived as a reason for pride and vanity, but rather as gratitude for her hard work.
"You know, I can't stop at one point and get hung up on victories," You didn’t like the principles that Isao instilled in her. "I always have to go further." In another universe, she would have grown up to be just as good and strong a girl, and for that, you would have loved her under any circumstances. The cool wind blew in her face, making her body feel cold on its own.
“I think you don’t have to chase success,” you began after a short pause, sitting down on the rooftop next to her. "Sooner or later we all get disappointed if we demand too much of ourselves."
You slowly placed your palm on the back of her hand, stroking the delicate-looking knuckles of her fingers. Kikoru finds it quite difficult to accept affection from anyone, so right now you can see how she blushes without looking up at you.
"Thank you," she suddenly says.
"Hm?"
"Thank you for your support and for being with me." Shinomiya turns her hand over and your fingers interlock.
“Thanks to you, I really feel strong.”
“Kikoru, silly, I love you.”
As soon as Shinomiya got used to the situation, her face and ears were once again covered in blush.
“S-s-s-stop! Y-you’re embarrassing me!” Suddenly, the girl began waving her hands in denial, until she eventually covered her face with them.
“What? You don’t like it when I say that?!” You teased.
“I do, but…” Laughter cut through her voice. “Yeah, I love you too!”
“Ha! See, it’s not that hard!”
“What are you talking about? It wasn’t hard for me. You just started this conversation out of the blue and I...”
You silence her chatter with a kiss on the lips. Kikoru, diving into this kiss, felt a jolt of electricity run through her body.
One day, this rooftop really became your sanctuary, where you can be yourselves. And although your story has just begun, every day has become a new adventure.

pt. 2 | NARUMI GEN WITH A MITSURI! LIKE READER🌸
Tumblr media
🌸Previously we focused a lot on Mitsuri! Reader’s background, now, I want to show her relationship to Gen in particular after becoming a platoon leader and drop some interactions with Kikoru!
part 1 | Masterlist
🌸Tags: narumi pining stage(?). oblivious Narumi, mutual pining, mutual admiration, friends to lovers but not yet question mark, loser narumi, OBAMITSU NARUMI AND READER!!!
Well into your time in the First Division, you’ve established a rather interesting sense of partnership with Narumi Gen.
At first, the two of you were still quite stiff, what with how it seemed like you and Narumi were just too different in terms of personality.
One was a lousy trash man–brash, childish and stuck to his handheld when he wasn’t on the field, and while the other was a happy go lucky, passionate girl who grew to be well loved for her demeanor, you were quite shy when it came to approaching him. After all, he IS your captain and the man on top of the Defense Force. You had a great deal of respect for him even before you joined arms. In fact, striving to be worthy to stand with him–to be stronger, was the collective ambition of every officer there.
After finally earning his acknowledgement, you ended up spending more and more time with him. Since you caught his eye with your strength. then you’ll have to keep honing it if you were to prove your existence. So you trained and trained, kept your limbs stretched, made sure your flexibility and agility always stayed fresh in your blood. Turn it into second nature.
And whenever the captain threw his hand in and actually showed up for a couple of rounds to spar you, you gave it your all. It became clear that he in particular took part in stoking your flames with his principle. To show results.
With that in mind, you’ve been building blocks since the very beginning, he notes one day, rummaging through your files and every assessment result.
Your shooting range assessments during your time as a rookie. Physical check ups. Combat training. Laps. They were above average–it’s what landed you in the First Division in the first place.
But what made you shine was your insane physical prowess, and how superhuman you were with transferring your power to the weapon you held.
Your terrain practice and obstacle shooting course held the highest rookie records. Your field reports never lied, there was even drone footage. Then there was the daikaiju incident, where you wielded an entire machine gun and amassed such a formidable blast upon first use, the numbers were too overwhelming for a rookie.
He remembers another report he got after your health assessment. They had studied the composition of your muscles, your combat levels, and more. Gotten real up and personal with you, so much so that you noted the experience while looking away.
He’ll never forget Isao’s words after Hasegawa recounted their discoveries in his office. Your extreme constitution, your rapidly increasing combat power, your leap in abilities as soon as you donned on your suit. Your power.
“Another prodigy right after Ashiro Mina.” Narumi paused as Isao turned to face the both them. “The next piece of the puzzle for the Defense Force.”
If Mina was the missing link to fight daikaiju–humanity’s biggest threat at the time, then you were second just to her to complete the frontlines. Another sleeping tiger.
Isao himself gave him and Hasegawa an order. One that drove home the responsibility he had as your captain now. “Hone her strength. A girl with her potential belongs in our main defenses.”
He made you sound all cool and all, but as soon as Narumi made his way to the training hall, he was flabbergasted as you held a comically long photostrip filled with the pictures of the cats you had back at home, gushing over them with several of your platoon members.
“I love Nekotarou, General Whiskers the 2nd, and Meowy Antoinette soooo much!” Were those the names of your cats? He wonders. “I’m going to spend my life savings on building a shrine in their image near Yokohama Station.“ Impossible.
Hearing that gave Narumi whiplash. Right, the daikaiju prodigy that even Mr. Isao acknowledged…
So there you were one day, nervously looking down at a serious private meeting with your Captain and Vice Captain. “You know, Mr. Isao went over some of your assessments some time ago.” Your heart immediately dropped, your shocked expression instantly showing on your face.
“DIRECTOR GENERAL SHINOMIYA?!?!?!?!” Narumi watched as you, noting how you were akin to watching a hamster get scared by loud noise.
You quickly regain your composure (though you still looked comedically nervous in Narumi’s peering eyes) as he read out your achievements. You’ve already proved yourself well, with a high performance level that was brimming with potential.
But most notably, it was your high physical prowess and how superhuman you were with transferring your power to the weapon you held. That was what made you a force to be reckoned with,
“So, with that in mind–” Hasegawa stood up, followed by Narumi. “As a newly appointed platoon leader with one of the strongest, most unique combat power readings we’ve had in the force, we will start work on your special weapon.”
“...” You stare at the two of them. Narumi stares back. Hasegawa paces his sight between the two of you. Then, the words processed in your head, and you let out the biggest beamful smile they’ve set their eyes on. “THANK–THANK YOU SO MUCH!” you stifled a few tears, following them like a duckling to meet with Izumo Tech.
And after a long testing period, you were bestowed with what the people at the weaponries department could only describe as a weapon as unique as its user. Your whip-sword.
With how unique your weapon was, it was imperative for you to train twice as hard–learning the ropes and making sure your new fighting style was worth all the effort. Your pride as an officer–a bearer of a special weapon relied on this. That was when Narumi rolled in, and when he wanted to test your strength himself, you eagerly accepted. Unexpectedly, it turned into a new tradition between the two of you.
Around this time was the turning point of how you slowly broke out of just simple subordination to him, and towards a strange yet delightful symbiotic relationship, one where you didn’t just acknowledge each other’s strengths, but learned more about the person behind them. He started talking to you more once you asked him excitedly about what games he plays, and he started to eat the meals you brought.
Truth to be told, your journey only became more arduous then. You were strong, sure, but you still couldn’t hold a candle to Narumi. And it only spurred you on further.
A particularly remarkable moment between the two of you was the first time you really voiced your compliments to him outloud (to Hasegawa’s dismay…)
It was when he beat you in hand to hand combat one day, and perhaps something felt different with how you were pushing your blood circulation and heart beat to the limit, but it was super clear that he really went all out that day. And he was admirable. “You’re amazing, Captain!”
“Of course,” he was to reply to you instinctively, but the sheer look of admiration you had sprawled on your face despite getting floored took him by surprise. You were always holding back a little around him–though he knew from word of mouth that you really were a very excitable person–so to see this other side of you was still pretty new for him. He just soaks in your words as you continue.
“Your form is amazing, how long did it take you to perfect it?” “I need to up my precision too. Yours is so remarkable.” “Please let me spar with you more!”
Perhaps you let your mouth run a little too loose by then. “I hope to one day earn my place next to you, Narumi–” You stop. Narumi stops. Then, your hands fly to your mouth as you let out a choked sound of what seemed to be your life regrets. “--I’m sorry!!!” Your forehead had already hit the floor multiple times before he registered your apology, seeing you fret over thinking that you overstepped a line.
But things are okay. You’re good friends now. He’s confident with that. He’s seen all 2760 of the pictures in your “my cats❤️❤️” album on your phone. He has all your favorite foods memorized. He knows the best ways to bait you.
He also had a huge ego boost when you showed up one day with the ends of your hair dyed a new color, following the long tradition of the 1st Division platoon leaders.
Has been scolded once or twice by Hasegawa for making you stay up late helping him farm dungeons on his BS5. When Narumi rebutted that he was your captain and that this was “an important mission”, Hasegawa promptly shot him down by stating that it was abuse of power.
He was actually the first person you showcased your new fighting style with your whip-sword to. Still couldn’t believe that you actually named it after your cats.
When the time came for you to use your new weapon on the field for the first time, you felt a bit more pressured than you should. Despite the fruitful results from in house training, the field is a very different environment, and you couldn’t afford to mess up. This test drive meant a lot–developing your weapon probably took a fortune–and you didn’t want to disappoint Narumi. He spent so much time with you. For you.
You move towards the approaching Yoju with total concentration, launching yourself in the air. “MTS-1437 field test commenced. Initiate subjugation,” Kurusu announced through the comms whilst giving you clearance, the operations room watching expectantly.
To say it was a success was an understatement. Not when the entire operation room seemed to look at your floating figure in awe, your sword gracefully twirling around your body. You looked as light as the wind, so graceful and elegant as you zeroed in on the yoju, before unleashing an onslaught of the techniques you spent so much practice on. Seeing you with your sword dance didn’t just fit your entire being amazingly – It felt so right.
Inside of him, Narumi felt a sense of achievement, watching you from the operations room as well.
“...Did she just say Catlove Shower?” He tensed, coughing a bit.
His memories bring him back to the specialized training room the both of you frequented, when you had eagerly just showed him your techniques. He remembers how gleefully you smiled, how your eyes turned into half moons from how elated you were after he gave you his approval. It was just a “good job” he thought, but it must have meant the world for you. Your place in the force must have meant the world for you. Something in his heart started to tug.
Before he realized it himself, a snide remark came out of his throat. “She was really happy with the names she thought up–so shut it.” Everyone near his vicinity tensed, looking at him in shock. No one expected him to comment that, not even Hasegawa.
As mentioned in the previous headcanons, you and Narumi have grown accustomed to each other’s fighting style. As you also worked with the combo of gunmanship to melee–though not exactly similar, you had turned to him for a lot of pointers. Not only that, but the joint weapon training you underwent with him contributed a lot to both of your understandings of how the other fought. So, it was no surprise that your battle sense became more reminiscent of his.
Narumi only let you join his side as soon as he knew he didn’t have to worry about you. As much as he valued you as a person and the friendship you had, he knew that the laws of the battlefield were strict. He couldn’t trust himself if he couldn’t trust you to handle your own. Especially when the 1st Division handled the toughest of kaijus.
His tough love and constant, merciless training made you stronger. And truthfully, seeing you advancing so rapidly in his eyes scared him a bit (was this what Isao felt?). So he was immensely tough on you. You had to be strong.
But when it came to Narumi and your beloved 1st Division officers, you quickly reminded them of the you behind your strength. The (Y/N) that smiled and earned herself the title of the Pillar of Love, the pink creature that made up the most unlikely duo on planet Earth with Narumi Gen.
It’s the mutual understanding and respect you have with each other that brought your bond both in and out of the battlefield this far.
So when Kikoru rolled in, she couldn’t help but admire you. At the time of her transfer, you were a name she’s heard whispers about. The 1st Division’s pillar of love. An expert heavy hitter who excels in mid ranged combat. Exactly someone she could confide in in improving her techniques with the axe.
And Gen used this to his advantage.
“Oi, Narumi.” He winces in pain as you whack the top of his head in place of Hasegawa, letting out a string of complaints. “As much as I love Kikoru-chan, I don’t think General Shinomiya would appreciate it if you threw all the training to me.”
“I told you, it’s our dual responsibility,” he says in between button mashing his console, “I gave you the order to help teach her the ropes. You have a similar combat style with hers.”
“I trained with you, and you’re training with her. Which means I’m training with–” cutting off his speech, you brazenly pick up his lawn chair, balancing the captain as you carried the seat to the training grounds. You made it look so easy.
“My apologies, captain!” Kikoru watches in stunned silence as you haul him over to where the two of you were previously sparring, dropping him on the ground gently whilst listening to his childish rebuttals.
The blonde only watched as Narumi rose from his seat and yelled out more curses in an annoyed frenzy, now chasing you in circles as you held his handheld controller. You were expertly dodging him too, maneuvering the strikes he made with his hands and feet. Yet it despite the showcase of skill, it all felt too goofy to be real.
Was that… really the strongest kaiju combatant in Japan and the famed love pillar?
“GIVE THAT BACK!” Narumi yells, reenacting a forward strike so cleanly, it had Isao written all over it. He narrowly misses your body mid jump.
“MY APOLOGIES!” Your apologetic tone could not be more contrasting than your actions as your legs landed on his head, pummeling Narumi to the ground for your landing.
At this point, even Kafka was watching with his jaw on the floor, Kikoru beside him watching intently. “Even in a light quarrel, those two are masters in their field! But still…” She zeroes in on the tug of war for Narumi’s console between the two of you.
…Could she really trust the two of you during her time here?

Just imagining a cat-kaiju fem reader in the Defense Force, like a catgirl, I wonder what would the interaction with the others would look like? Some might be romantic and some might be platonic, and the reader and Bakko is like super close since they’re literally cats lol
Yeah, I went so overboard with this. Been desperate for someone to request something like this! Thank you!
Warnings; blood, death and cats :3
Contains; F!reader, fluff
Word count; 3637 (im so sorry)
Tumblr media
At first you weren’t taken seriously. Yeah, you were a Kaiju, but you had the semi-appearance of a cat, permanently; tail and ears included. You went from a respected defence force officer to a cat-girl, it was like some sort of joke.
Captain Hoshina found it hilarious. He nearly passed out from laughing. “Hey, L/N, do you think you meow too?” he had asked you through hysterical sobs. His reaction was echoed by a lot of people in the force. Not only that, but many whispers also started, rumours and speculation rose from the force and eventually word got out the public that they had a cat-girl on the force.
You became a celebrity for all the wrong reasons. The force had tried to contain the hysteria of the public – they were not aware you were a kaiju. If they were to find that you were, both you and Kafka would be forced to retire and be weaponised.
This caused you to sink into a depression. You had been training so hard, your suit output power had reached 27% and now you were viewed as a joke. Cat-girls were seen as cute and small. They meant to look sweet and pretty. In many ways, they’re weak.
Kafka thought it was awesome that there was someone like him in the field. He adored that he could finally confide in someone about what he was feeling, and they would actually understand him. Secretly, he thought your partially transformed appearance was cute. He couldn’t help but admire the way your tail swayed when you were annoyed, or the movements of your ears when you overheard something. The same goes for Kikoru. She knew how strong you were even before becoming a Kaiju, she had nothing but respect for you. Even so, she teased you, amused at you new mannerisms.
Still, the same precautions were taken with you as were with Kaiju no.8. You were taken to a facility and assessed by none other than Gen Narumi. He wasn’t pleased you’d interrupted his gaming; he’d already made his mid up you weren’t worth his time. Once again, you’d fallen victim to the cat-girl prejudice.
“Let’s get this over with,” was the first and only thing he’d said to you before he began his assault. He couldn’t land a single hit. Your reflexes matched his own, even with his kaiju foresight. His original estimations of your power were now overshadowed. “Uh huh,” he had said, looking you up and down in disbelief. Your fortitude? 9.1.
You stood defensively, your arms in the shape of an ‘x’ in front of your face, clawlike nails ready to parry Narumi’s weapon. You were only able to transform your eyes, ears, forearms and calves; you were on the defensive. You panted slightly, his attacks had been fast and heavy. Your human body wouldn’t have been able to keep up with him, but your Kaiju form took it with ease. Granted, Narumi wasn’t going all out, if he had he probably would have destroyed the testing room, you included.
A newfound respect formed in that moment. You were deemed Kaiju no. 16. Though it would only last if you showed him results. Gen allowed a trial run for you on the field. Given that Kafka was already in the First Division, Gen had you transferred back to the Third Division, under Mina Ashiro’s command.
Mina was secretly thrilled to have you in her division. You weren’t aware of it at the time, but many of her officers looked up to you, since you held your own against Narumi, so she was pleased you would be there to inspire. Hoshina also had some more respect for you, he was amused that you had humiliated Narumi.
Iharu, along the others, thought you were awesome. You were sung with praises when you arrived, they even through you a party. Swarmed by your friends, you were overwhelmed with emotion. Perhaps the first few days of isolation had caused you to form a narrative in your head that people didn’t like you. You yourself, had prejudices against cat-girls. But here, now, surrounded by such love and admiration, you saw that there was no room for such biases in the defence force.
During the party, many questions were thrown your way:
“What are your abilities?”
“Do always you land on your feet like a cat?”
“Can you see in the dark?”
“Do you eat mice?” – Hoshina
“What can you use your tail for?”
“Do you have paws?”
“Do you have fur?”
“Can you jump really high?”
The simple answer to all those questions was: “I don’t know”.
You hadn’t really had time to test out your abilities, nor had you ever fully transformed. Fear caused this, denial of it being real and resentment for yourself. Yeah, being a cat-girl is cool on paper, but you were a Kaiju. It wasn’t sunshine and rainbows as many people had been thinking.
***
Before being deployed in the field, you were to be trained but Hoshina himself. He needed to know your abilities in detail, so he could personally dispose of you if necessary.
Much to your surprise, Reno and Ihrau, offered to help with your training too. They wanted to help since you were their friend, but also wanted to see how well you could all worked together. Since they had experience fighting alongside Kaiju no. 8, it was approved that they would help with your training.
You first day was one-on-one with Hoshina. Today’s training was all about fully transforming. You had outputted a fortitude of 9.1. partially transformed. Now was your time to show off what you could do without being afraid.
Hoshina had told you “I’m not going to hold back. If I hurt you, that on you. Do everything you can to stop me. I want to see what you have to offer. Show me who you are, L/N.”
Once again, you could only partially transform. Hoshina slashed and slashed at you, but you parried him every time, your claws as sharp as his blades. Your internal monologue was doing overtime. Please was the only word you repeated, over and over again. Desperately reaching into the depths of your core to find the strength to fully transform. All the while, Hoshina’s blades rained hell on you relentlessly. He was in the zone, completely set on forcing you to transform, giving you no other option but to harden the skin on your chest as he triple-attacked.
Your chest now covered in white fur. You’re joking, you thought. Staring down at your chest you ran your hand over the fur. So soft. But how does fur stop Hoshina’s blades? Fingering deeper into the fur, you felt the skin beneath. Rock solid.
“So, you do have fur,” Hoshina mused. He took note of the sour look on your face, he figured out quickly there was a part of yourself that resented being a kaiju. “Stop.” His voice pulled you out of the trance you had been in. Confused you tilled your head to the side, cocking a brow at him. “You’re thinking too much about it. Stop. If you start thinking like that on the field, you’re dead.”
He was right, you had to pull it together and swallow your pride. At the end of the day, you were more powerful in this form, whether you liked it or not.
Now more focused than before, you got low, mirroring the captain, and mimicking a cat on the hunt. Good, he thought, she’s locked in.
You circled each other, prowling low to the ground. Your field of vision grew, making it easier to take in your surroundings. Your catlike ears amplified Hoshina’s breathing, you could hear his heart pounding in his chest. Your nose changed also; your nostrils took in Hoshina’s scent. It was almost like you could smell excitement coming off him. A low growl came from your chest, you felt your mouth twist and morph, a shining set of canines sit snug in your mouth.
Baring your new fangs at the captain, you snarl, daring him to come closer. The captain took your warning as an invitation. Faster than before, he dashes over to you, his swords shaving off bits of your fur. In response, you harden more of your skin, the fur now covering your thighs and neck. Your claws parry him ceaselessly, desperately trying to keep him at bay. Your enhances senses helped you predict his movements. He was fast, but you were faster. Using the strength of you legs you run across the wall, getting behind him. Raising your leg high in the air, you bring it down on Hoshina, but he is nowhere to be found.
You were certain you’d manage to switch the narrative. “Going from defensive to offensive so quickly?” Hoshina stands next to you, his blade to your throat, a glimmer of pleasure in his eyes. He sizes you up, a smirk growing on his face. “For a cat, you look pretty good,” he chuckles. Taken aback, you look down at your arms, they’re covered in fur. You gasp at the sight, clawing at your face to feel the same soft texture. Heat rises in your cheeks, your ears standing on end and tail wagging rapidly.
“I’ve never seen a cat blush before,” Hoshina teases, you promptly tell him to shut up, not before he begins laughing again.
You did it. You fully transformed. Fortitude? 9.8.
Still standing on two legs, your feet looked like paws. They were big but well rounded, the pads on the bottom were cushioned making it easy to travers rough terrain. Your calves and thighs were well defined, this added to your strength and agility; you felt like you could jump higher than the clouds. Your tail was dense and strong, it could easily hold up your weight if needed. You still had hair on your head, the same long hair you had before only now, it was a smokey grey. Your eyes were a beautiful ice blue and your fur a snow white, patches of dark grey spotted your coat. Looking up at Hoshina cautiously, you started “I’m…Am I…”
“A snow leopard” he finished. How amusing, he thought to himself.
Before the two of you could continue, Bakko burst through the door. The tiger kaiju mewled and pounced around, clearly happy to see another feline Kaiju. Bounding up to you, he rubbed his head against your side, licking at your hands. Blushing more, your tail came to cover your face, unsure of how to handle the tiger. Mina followed into the room soon after, worried at what he pet might do. Pleasantly surprised at the sight that greeted her, a soft smile grew. “Congratulations, Y/N.”
Pride swelled inside you. After everything, you could still fight along side the captain. Excited for what the future holds, you let out a sweet chuff before reverting back to your ‘normal’ form, your ears and tail still visible.
***
The following day you were set to train with Reno and Iharu. Captain Hoshina kept watch from atop the wall, while the three of you were to clear the training course.
“Alright! I hope you’re as pumped as I am, Y/N!” Iharu, lightly punched your shoulder, a cocky look on his face. “You too, Reno. Just know, I’m coming for you too,” Iharu chuckled.
You gave reno a confused look, one of your ears falling down. Reno only sighs, shrugging his shoulders.
“Okay gang, all you have to do today is clear the remaining Kaiju.” Hoshana’s voice rang in your ears, “Those being 5 yoju and 1 Honju, pretty easy stuff. You’re being assessed on your ability to work together and your efficiency at transforming. Ichikawa and Furuhashi, you are to assist L/N, you are not to take down the Kaiju unless absolutely necessary. This is a training exercise for L/N, don’t go getting too greedy now.”
Iharu let out a disappointed groan, “I was so ready to kill those kaiju!”
You understood, you’d never faced a kaiju in action, and as of now you’ve only transformed once, in the face of danger you might not be able to transform again. Reno and Iharu were here as a precaution, to bail you out if necessary.
“Oh, and also, this is a timed exam. Good luck!” With that a small cannon went of to commence the start of the training exercise.
“Exam?!” all three of you stared up at Hoshina’s shit-eating grin atop the wall. God damn him, you thought setting off in the direction of the scent. You’d picked up on all six of the Kaiju the second they’d opened the doors. They were scattered throughout the facility, with the Honju over in the far-right corner.
Following close behind you, Reno and Iharu kept a close eye on you, being sure to take in any signs of struggle the transform. But for you, transforming now felt as easy as jumping into a pool. Leaping into the air, the fur spread from you head down to your paws, landing on top of a Yoju, squishing it and its core. Taking a moment to sniff the air for the scent of the other Yoju, you looked back at the boys, using your head to point in the direction of the next Yoju.
Reno looked on in awe at you, crouching on the corpse of the Yoju. Your fur soaked in its blood, you looked majestic. A small tug was felt in his heart, what a strange sight to give him butterflies.
Iharu felt the same. You were so badass. It was plain to see that you could easily stand beside Captain Ashiro. Your fur whipped around in the wind, your tail moved to shield your eyes, he watched on, secretly wishing to touch your fur.
You cleared the other Yoju with ease and swiftly destroyed the Honju in one blow, Reno and Iharu didn’t have to fire a single shot. The training exercise was over and you’d managed cleared it in only 3 minutes and 36 seconds.
“Yeah, Alright!” Iharu wailed. Jumping down from the Honju’s carcass, you reverted to your normal form. He held his hands up to high five you, felling a stir in his stomach from your appearance. You gave him a big smile, your ears falling back in excitement, tail once again wagging around. He blushed ever so slightly, coughing to cover it up.
You turned to Reno, as you did, your tail brushed under Iharu’s chin. The fur of your tail was too dense for you to have noticed. His face lit up like a tomato, he had to turn away from you to hide his expression. So freaking soft, he thought.
“Thank you, thank you both for having my back out there. Now I know I can control my transformation, I hope I can be a bigger help on the field!” You gave Reno a candied smile, your head falling to the side. He kept his composure, but underneath he feels the same as Iharu. You were so cute, but you were badass, and you were determined to improve, something Reno could respect deeply.
This mutual crush sparked a new rivalry between the two. This time, it wasn’t not one sided.
***
The day of a mission comes. The regular pre-mission checks are complete. Hoshina assigns you and Reno to his platoon. You are tasked with taking down a Daikaiju with a fortitude of 8.2, a walk in the park for Hoshina, but this was another one of his tests, and it’s a big one.
Slightly peeved the captain assigned you with such a large Kaiju on your first mission, you whisper curses towards Hoshina under your breath as you ran across the roofs to the Diakaiju’s location.
“I’m sorry? What was that, L/N? I couldn’t quite here you,” Hoshina teased. You’d left the channel open deliberately so he could hear your disapproval.
Before you had the chance to tell him to shut up, the Diakaiju came into view. With one leap you closed the distance, ready to slash its body. You could sense its core was right in the centre of its mass along with…something else. All you had to do was tear away its thick, grotesque skin.
The original plan was to have Captain Ashiro take it down, but she had been held up by another Diakaiju. A simultaneous attack hadn’t been heard of until recently.
The damaged caused by the Diakaiju in front of you was too much to leave until Mina arrived. That’s why Hoshina had assigned you to dispose of it. Dickhead.
Using your claws you dug deeper into the side of its body, making your way to its core. Soon, Yoju swarmed around you, an attempt to keep the Daikaiju safe. Reno provided cover, shouting at you to keep on going.
Deeper into the side of its thick skin you dug, to find its shining core staring at you. Theres gotta be a more effective way for me to do this, you thought. Creating as much space as possible so you had a clear chance to slash its core, you tore away more of its vile flesh. The putrid smell stung your nose. Finally with enough space to slash its core, you raised your clawed hand ready to destroy the beast once and for all, only to be met with a twisted face.
“I’m not ready to die yet,” its croaky voice creaked. “You are though,” before you had time to react, you were ejected from the Kaiju. You were sent spinning through the air at such a high speed, you passed out from the g-force. Your Kaiju form deactivated when you passed out, so when you slammed into and through a building, your suit was the only protection from the blast. It wasn’t enough. Your core had been destroyed.
Your friends mourned you that day. Hoshina felt so guilty, he could have just taken that Kaiju on himself, then maybe he would have died in your stead. You had so much potential, and to be honest, he liked you more than he should have.
Reno and Iharu were in bits, you were their friend. You’d become a trio in the time of your training, they would treasure those memories forever.
Even the public mourned you. You’d died a hero.
The Diakaiju had managed to escape after revealing itself to be an unidentified Kaiju.
***
Your wake was eerily silent. No one talked, no one dared too. For the first time, Captain Ashrio looked genuinely sad. She never showed that side to the public before. She comforted Bakko, who in turn, comforted her. Hoshina couldn’t talk, he was a shell of himself; forced to carry this burden for the rest of this life. Iharu and Reno stifled sobs, staring painfully at their food, unable to eat. Word got out to the First Division, Kafka and Kikoru cried, unable to attend the wake due to another attack. Even Gen felt the less, pausing his game to take a moment to remember you when a cat came on screen.
But, you see, there’s an old myth that says cats have nine lives.
Sliding open the door to the wake, you stood, a white sheet wrapped around you, skin as pale as a ghost.
Reno and Iharu grabbed each other and shrieked. This was echoed by many others, screams and wails bounced around the room. You winced at the noise; your ears still sensitive from waking up. You yawned slightly, walking over to where the two boys were sat, stealing a piece of meat from Reno’s plate. You hummed at the flavour, taking a swig of Iharu’s drink.
You blinked up at him, confused at to why Reno was cradling him. “What?” you voice slightly croaky, “Why are you looking at me like that? And why are you all wearing black?”
You had no idea you’d been dead for a week. Hoshina broke to silence, letting out the loudest and most genuine belly laugh ever, tears formed at the corner of his eyes. Soon the room erupted into happy tears. Mina filled you in that you had seemingly passed away.
Shocked, you apologies for scaring everyone. Hugging Reno and Iharu, reassuring them that you were real. You were brought some clothes and after you had changed you joined in your own wake.
“Don’t let me stop you, you teased. Please, share your stories of how great I am,” you joked, staring up at all the smiling faces of your friends. Who would have thought you’d have to die to feel so loved?
Bonus information:
Hoshina hugged you after the wake. He’d definitely had too much to drink. It took a lot for him not to drunkenly confess to you.
You curl up when you sleep and use your tail as a pillow.
Often you find yourself laying your head people lap’s. Your core body temperature is lower than normal, so you seek heat often.
Instead of snoring in your sleep you purr.
Iharu and Reno figured out Hoshina also has a crush on you and so added him, unknowingly, into the rivalry.
Hoshina leaves you cat toys because he thinks it’s funny.
Bakko and you often cuddle together. Snow leopards are closely related to tigers, so you get along really well.
Mina trusts you wholeheartedly but needs you to train more before she feels confident sending you out into the field again. She doesn’t want you burning through your nine lives too fast.
Iharu and Hoshina, when stood beside or behind you, stroke your tail. You often don’t notice.
Hoshina also puts your tail up to his face, like a mustache, to make people laugh.
Reno does extensive research on snow leopards to try and accommodate you better.

Hello yes me again 🫢, so how about this. Reader who has incredible sense of fashion like she dress gyaru (or smth similar). And when the 3rd division is fighting kaiju or having training she's always so serious and 'cold' (she's actually a sweetheart but she just has b12ch face). They go out cuz they celebrating something and they see reader but they are suprised that she has that kind of style? Like they thought that a person who is always neat and serious in her work would dress like 'plain' and not in bright colours and skirts? Expecially with those cute accessories hairclips, bracelets(I love them) Take your sweet time don't worry I will wait 💕💅
(I hope you understand what I just wrote cuz my mind was foggy writing this💀 Btw I love your work❤️)
a/n: if i could i would give you the biggest smooch!! your requests feel like a breath of fresh air, i had so much fun writing this! i apologize for the long wait tho ^^

GAL is Mind! | Hoshina Soshiro
“Third Division!” Your voice echoed through the entire training room, ice cold and sharp. Everybody immediately halted in their movements, their bodies in perfect sync with your voice.
“Salute!” The sounds of boots clicking and body's straightening brought satisfaction to your ears. A smile, though short lived, formed on your lips as your eyes fell on the rows of cadets. One of them stepped forward, gaze lifted up high in the sky as she opened her mouth.
“Thank you for today's training, Vice Captain L/n!” She yelled out.
“Thank you for today's training!” Everybody followed her suit.
“Dismissed.” And with that said you stepped away from the front and began your journey to the dressing room.
“Vice Captain L/n really is something, huh?” Kafka sighed, hands reaching for his water bottle. Heavy puffs of air escaped his lips, the effects of the training still harsh on his body.
“Tell me about it. She's gotta be the third strongest on the base for sure.” Reno replied, copying his friend and reaching for his bottle as well. He too was trying to catch his breath. Whenever it was your turn to train the Platoon, even the strongest cadets would end up collapsing after the session. Yet you walked away unscratched, with no signs of exhaustion or weariness.
“I wonder what she is like off the field..in private, you know. Shinomiya's words caused a shift in atmosphere. Immediately all feelings of enervation were forgotten as the group tried to imagine you in a more casual setting.
“Off..the field?” Kafka's gaze fell on your disappearing form.
Most of the people at the base already had a set image of you in their mind. Your cold demeanor was engraved in their heads. The fearless Vice Captain who led every fight with precision and a cool head– that was the only version of you which they knew. But they knew better than to judge a person solely from what they decided to show to the public– and not to mention that most of the time, people were different in private than in their work life in general.
They wondered if that applied to you as well.
“Wouldn't Vice Captain Hoshina know? Or Captain Ashiro. As Captains they must spend lots of time together off field, I think.” Iharu suggested. His words made sense at first but upon consulting the other Vice Captain, it seemed that you were as isolated off field as at work.
“I never really interacted with L/n outside base grounds, besides out on the battlefield of course.” Hoshina admitted, surprising the entire group.
“No way! Ain't she your work partner? Don't tell me you never went out for a drink or two? Sir.” Iharu quickly added the sir after realizing that he was talking out of line.
He was quite shocked at the Vice Captain's words and it seemed like he wasn't the only one. The entire group stood in disbelief as Hoshina told him that you were as quiet and introverted as they came.
“No, because now I really want to know what Vice Captain L/n is like off duty!” A spark had been lit inside Shinomiya. Her determination was contagious, as the others soon started to feel the same way. Even Hoshina was starting to wonder what image laid behind your nonchalant facade.
Therefore they came up with a plan to get you to ease up around them without drawing any suspicion towards their real motives.
x
“You want to..hang out?” Your voice perfectly reflected the image on your face– you were confused.
“A little get together with the other cadets sounds nice, don't it? Allows the group to bond and stuff, get their mind off things.”
Hoshina was prepared for the rejection of his life. Despite sharing many great memories at the base together, neither he nor Ashiro knew you on a very personal level. You were a strong and dedicated fighter, that was a fact. Your skills were flawless and your performances during battles praiseworthy. Yet all they got to see so far was your work behavior. You were like a ghost, hovering around the base and gaining everyone's curiosity.
“Sure, why not.”
“But it would be– whaddya say?”
“I mean why not? Sounds nice, I'm down.” A cold gaze sat on your face as you arranged the files on your desk and even your voice sounded uninterested. It gave Hoshina the impression that you were forcing yourself to agree to this meeting. Five whole minutes were needed to convince him that you really stood by your words.
At the end he walked out of your office, carefully pulling the door shut behind himself. Only after you were sure that he had left the area surrounding your office did you manage to produce a small smile.
“Yay!”
x
“She said yes just like that?!” The squad could barely believe their ears. Hoshina simply shrugged his shoulders, unsure of what to say. He himself still had to process the fact that you willingly agreed to this, without arguing or rejecting him. But then again, you never made a ruckus when having to pick up an extra shift or taking care about some more paperwork, therefore who knew what truly went through your mind.
“Am I the only one who is getting nervous?” Kafka asked into the round.
It was such a silly discussion, the mystery behind your personality, yet everyone involved found themselves curious to seek the answer.
“Vice Captain probably dresses really well! Like elegant and modest.” Shinomiya chimed in, clapping her hands together.
“I can definitely see that too.” Aoi agreed. The group began to chat and talk about the event of the night and how you were going to appear in front of them. They talked and talked, just for a little bit longer, before they returned to work.
x
A couple hours later and the time for the rendezvous came closer and closer. Throughout the day, Hoshina managed to ask Captain Ashiro if she too wanted to join the festivities and to everyone's surprise she agreed as well.
“I too want to see the Vice Captain in her casual glory.” Ashiro said with a straight face and sparkles in her eyes.
Everyone arrived around the agreed on time, some earlier and some later, but at the end they all gathered in front of the fine establishment.
“Oh, L/n just texted me that she is already inside!” Ashiro had a soft smile sitting on her lips, happy about the fact that you had texted her.
“Am I the only one who feels excessively excited??” Iharu looked around the group for validation.
“Nah, I'm just as excited” Izumo placed a reassuring hand on the other one's shoulders. “But I do feel like we are totally doing too much. I mean, it's just the Vice Captain.” The group was unsure if Izumo's words were directed towards everyone else or just himself, as he had quite the distressed look on his face. Shinomiya, Hoshina and Reno on the other hand carried a blank look on their faces. Their excitement manifested itself in the form of silence.
“Does anybody see her?” Kafka asked.
The bar was of decent size. It was most likely on the more fancier side. Not too many guests sat seated at the tables and from their point of view they should have had a clear vision of the whole place. Yet you remained to be discovered.
All they saw was another group of businessmen, a handful of couples, a person who seemed to be having a stroke in the corner and some young college students who were being a little too noisy..
Ashiro was about to ask a staff member for help, when all of a sudden a stranger approached them.
“Guys? I have been waving at you for the past two minutes, didn't you see me?”
Silence
In front of the group stood a woman, who's stroke turned out to be her attempt of getting their attention. She was dressed in attire that did not fit the establishment's vibe.
l
Her long eyelashes were a perfect match for the dramatic makeup she had put on. Half of her hair was put into a high ponytail, with the ends strongly curled. Although her head lacked charms and accessories, many of those were found on her long, white nails. The clothes she wore perfectly reflected everything that was going on in her face.
A skirt so short sat around her hips that the group feared that it would only take her one bad step to reveal herself. They just hoped that the golden star belt she wore was good enough to hold everything in place. What truly topped everything off weren't the dark fur leg warmers or the thick golden chains hanging from both her belt and neck, but rather the bold, off shoulder cheetah print shirt.
To put everything in simpler words– she was a looker for sure.
“...L/n?” Shinomiya was the first one to open her mouth.
“Yes?”
“WHAT?!” Kafka could barely contain himself. Shock wasn't even expressive enough to describe the sheer disbelief he was currently feeling. His eyes were stuck on the countless bracelets you were wearing, trying to count them all. Meanwhile Izumo and Aoi still had to pick their jaws off the floor.
“Ya gotta be kiddin me..” Hoshina cursed under his breath, his eyes still drinking in the image of you.
From all he had expected, this would have been the last thing. Seeing you in such revealing and bold attire, it was out of character for you. Even Ashiro found herself speechless as she slowly started to recognize your face behind all the accessories and makeup.
And let's not get started on Shinomiya who almost fainted.
“Do..I have something on my face?” Your voice was genuine and filled with confusion.
“Everything!” Iharu blurted out, earning a slap from Reno.
“This..is just very unexpected.” The white haired man tried to explain in the best words available.
“Unexpected is puttin it lightly! Shit, you sure this is our Vice Captain??” Iharu barely finished his sentence before the second slap from Reno came flying towards the back of his head.
“Oh. Yeah, I figured you guys would be surprised. I tried to tone it down a little and left some accessories at home but once I get dressed I can barely hold myself back.” You smiled softly.
For some it was the first time seeing you present such a sweet smile. It melted their hearts in an instant and forced them to question everything about you that they knew.
As you showed the way to the table, the group of people behind you silently fought about who got to sit next to you. Both power and authority were abused, as Hoshina and Ashiro ended up by your side with Shinomiya getting the seat right in front of you.
There it was, the moment they all have been waiting for. The silence was so strong that it became one of the loudest things in the entire place.
Their gazes poked holes through your outfit but you simply sat there, enjoying their attention. Such close interactions did not exist at work, as all were too afraid of you. They did not go unnoticed by you, the comments and whispers about your unapproachable behavior. There were obviously no ill intentions in their words but it still hurt you a little that nobody tried to get to know you on a personal level.
Your shyness and professionalism were labeled off as coldness on your very first day and ever since you had found it quite difficult to build more skin deep relationships. That is why you were beyond happy when Hoshina asked you to join them today.
“Have you always been dressing like this?” Shinomiya asked the question that has been on everybody's mind. The sparkle in her gaze returned, her eyes shining with nothing but admiration for you.
“Yes, pretty much. My mother was a Rokku Gyaru and taught me everything I needed to know. Started off as a Kogal and slowly found my way into the world of Tsuyome.”
Everybody listened with great attention as you explained your sense of fashion. It was the most talkative they have ever experienced you in, it was a memory to cherish. It made you feel awfully happy, their kindness and acceptance, that you temporarily lost yourself.
“Sorry Vice Captain, but I really didn't take you for the kind who would dress like that. So bold and carefree..but now that I think about it it suits you quite well!”
“Thank you a lot, Kafka.” You both exchanged mutual smiles.
“Same here. I first thought that you were gonna come in all formal and shit but this really hits the spot.”
“Your head will swell if I hit you one more time, moron.” Reno shot the red head a deadly glare.
“I know that I come off as cold sometimes, but I can't help it. I like to express myself with my appearance and actions rather than words and not to mention– in this field of work I just cannot afford to be as silly and expressive as my clothes.’
“It is very impressive that you are able to have these different sides to you.” The woman next to you spoke.
Much more time was spent talking about certain fashion styles, life and work at the defense force. The night was long and who knew when the next time would come where you got to talk the way you did now? Therefore you talked and talked, until all troubles and thoughts were taken off your minds.

I just thought this GIF was too cute and wanted to use it..
My exams are finally over, and I have so many ideas I need to post and write, but I feel so angry over the manga for not including Shinonome in almost anything. For people who are not caught up with the manga, Shinonome is a platoon leader in the first division. She is said to be the best fighter among all the platoon leaders and has a release force of 73 percent. She has a cool design, imo, and is shown here and there in some panels.
During this final arc of the manga, I suppose she is literally shown for a chapter where Kaiju No. 11 i think was bodying her fully, and it's shown that she has a crush on Narumi and just wanted to get stronger because of him, and then she is so badly injured and Kafka comes to save her, and from chapters 82 to 110, we have not seen her even in a glimpse.
I really, really like Shinonome and Narumi. Narumi is my favorite male in kn8, and Shinonome is my favorite female, but Narumi does not even know the A of romance, and that's fine because the manga and anime are supposed to be fighting action types, but seriously, are you kidding me?
I wish Rin got a numbers weapon. All 3, 5, and 7 Kaiju don't have a compatible user, and a YouTuber did say that one of them has a compatible user, so hopefully it's Rin.
BESIDES THAT
It's so random, yall can skip this 😭
It's actually dumb, but I kind of thought what would be the strongest unit Isao could've made if he were living for 4 or 3 more months. I think I wanted to make some changes, but it sounds like I have nothing to do with my life.
Shinonome will still be the strongest platoon leader. Kikoru (she is already in the division) with a number weapon 4 Reno/Leno with No. 6 suit Narumi ofc Kafka? He belongs in the third division, along with Ashiro and Hoshina. Iharu Then, idk about Haruchi and the millitary dude's ability; we haven't seen so much of them, and the people in the first division all have a release force of 40 percent or higher, so it's good? The only problem is that Rin is so weak compared to others. Damn.
I'm at a loss for why I even uploaded this. I need to write the eight fics asap, but no ideas come in, so I am skipping them for a while and doing bullshit.
Help, what did I post?

BIG! BIG!!! FAN of Kaiju no 8 and I can't help but make an oc out in their universe.
(I'm bad with backgrounds 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 pls understand the struggles.)
Her name is Hasanagi Akira, fun fact I actually just came up with the last name but in accurate Hasanagi mean.
"The meaning of the given name Hasanagi represents compassion, creativity, reliability, generosity, loyalty and a love for domestic life."
Also I wan to related this because Akira is a very interesting character for herself because she's love finding other ways to kill a Kaiju she's a specialise in finding some interesting details about the kaiju and would give off ideas or ways to kill kaijus.
Akira join the JAKDF when she was 19 at that age she's developed in 29% combat level. Reason she's higher because of her hobbies like exploring (which turn to a daylight parkouring) and love skateboarding in some abandoned cities areas. And she also loves drawing. She pretty flexible which giving her a very skillful fighter using her flexibility.
Like I said she loves finding creative ways to not bored herself up. I also made her having a crush on Hoshina Soshiro when she was 20 while meeting him. She was excessively giving the opportunity to be third in command at 24. At 24 her level increases in 89%.
I might draw more if I'm not lazy.
Tumblr media
But I must say I'm proud of my (basic) colouring, shading plus highlights.

I had this thought based on the new Kaiju no. 8: Relax chapter (well chapter 4 is new to me at least) where Kafka is tasked with taking a picture of Hoshina with his eyes open, requested by his fan club. Kafka (and Kikoru who’s somehow involved) repeatedly fail.
And now they’re beginning to grow desperate.
Kafka finally outright asks Hoshina what makes him open his eyes fully (beyond him glaring at a tray of Mont Blanc like he wants to devour the whole thing), trying to keep it as a bit of casual conversation. Hoshina thinks for a moment, then says ‘looking at my girlfriend.’ Kafka fights to not blurt out you have a GIRLFRIEND?? and asks a few questions about who, how, where in the hopes that maybe they can meet you and snap that infernal picture. Hoshina says that you’re working abroad at the moment (Kafka nearly dies on the spot, it’s impossible, he gives up!) but that he has some pictures of you that he can show since they are both so nosy.
Hoshina pulls out his phone and just stares at the screen for a moment, eyes opening and an unusually soft smile spreading on his face. Kafka elbows Kikoru, hissing at her to take the picture! Kikoru is dazed at just how different Hoshina looks but she pulls herself together to snap a pic that Kafka deems HAS to be good enough.
Kafka and Kikoru have to pay for their victory by listening to Hoshina yapping for the next hour and a half about how cute you are, showing them practically every sfw picture he has of you.

Kikoru with a S/o who has a weird fascination with her hair.
Because how to FUCK does it work?
IS IT SUPER STIFF? EXTENSIONS? IS IT A WIG?!?!
(Kaiju No. 8) Kikoru's S/O being bewildered by her hair
You know, I never actually bothered to ask that question. I know it's like pigtails but beyond that...? Anyways, TAKIN' THE GLOVES OFF, WE'RE JUMPING STRAIGHT INTO THE KN8 WRITING COMMUNITY LESGO-
Tumblr media
Kikoru raises a single eyebrow as she notices S/O narrowing their eyes at her.
Turning to face them, she watched as their glance slightly shifted to her right, finally realizing what exactly they were staring at.
(Kikoru) "Why are you looking at my hair?"
(S/O) "Kikoru, how the heck does it work?"
...
(Kikoru) "...What?"
Immediately, she felt their hands run across her hair, causing her to freeze up momentarily with her mouth slightly going agape.
(S/O) "Like, how is your sticking out like that? Did you use gel or something?"
Crossing her arms, her expression quickly darkened into one of annoyance as she batted their hand away.
(Kikoru) "What's with this sudden fascination?! All this time together and you're only now asking about it?-"
(S/O) "Well because I'm just thinking about it, right? You go into battle, doing some crazy stuff but your hair remains perfectly intact!"
Perfectly intact her ass. It always gets covered in Kaiju guts and debris!
Plus, is that how one would phrase that line of thought about their girlfriend?!
(Kikoru) "What in the world do you mean you're JUST thinking about it?! Does that mean you're not thinking about how I look at all?!"
(S/O) "T-That's not what I mean!"
Honestly, this annoyed her a lot more than it reasonably should have.
With a pout, she turns around and ignores S/O's questions, quietly fuming at the audacity.
It was just hair, what was there to be so confused about, right?
=====
BONUS:
NGL anon the second I read your ask, this immediately popped into my head.

~Like a Rabbit in Heat~ Chapter 1 - An Unhealthy Obsession
Arriving at the Defense Force’s Third Division base was… something else. You park your car, finishing the last bit of the song you had going before getting out. You stand, close your door, and look up to see a young girl and an older-looking man arguing. There was another guy, handsome and white-haired, but you weren't here to ogle. You were here to ace your exam.
Moving forward, eyes trailing on the now frantic guys, you turn your head to the base - only to hear the sound of metal moving. A loud bang tempts you to turn and look, and the car- the car- is now out of its parking spot. The young blonde girl smirks triumphantly, saying something that looks snarky. The older man, sporting scruffy black hair, grabbed the car in turn, his arms… changing? Hard, black shell with fluorescent blue lines instead of flesh for arms. The car raising didn't even catch your eye, but it did catch the blonde’s. Her amazed expression mirrors yours. The white haired boy looks around frantically, spotting you. You meet his gaze slowly, your feet starting up on their own. Taking you to the base.
Away from this.
Away from the confusion.
You tell yourself to forget it.
It doesn't work at first, but you soon manage to trick your brain into thinking, “forget what?” over and over. You continue walking, going inside of the base and joining the other recruits. The opening ceremony takes place, boring you, though the vice captain catches your eye. When he speaks, you straighten, locking your gaze to his beautiful face. Long lashes and protruding canines put you in a trance, uneven bangs accompanying a bowl cut swaying with his every movement.
Damn.
This is gonna be interesting.
The physical exam is pretty grueling, but not the worst workout you've ever done. Then comes the “wild card” of the exam. You, along with the rest of the Third Division, are moved to the training grounds, where there are 36 yoju and a honju roaming. You glance around at the others, getting information from the Vice-Captain before being released to eliminate them. Everyone takes off together, scattering after the blonde girl - Kikoru - ran off ahead. You end up alone, traversing and killing as many kaiju as you can. Quiet as you are, your surroundings are especially loud. The drone above you, the noises of the various kaiju, the sound your weapons make every time they rattle off, your own pulse. You hear a small crackling sound close to you before a voice sounds in your ear, “You're dangerously close to overheating.” Oh, the sweet, sweet sound of the vice captain’s voice. You acknowledge him quietly, your heart speeding up. Your imagination running, running, sprinting… oh. You take a breath in, thinking of dirty toilets and the men’s restroom.
Yep, that did it.
Back to normal now, you hoist your gun against your shoulder, moving to track down more kaiju.
♡♡♡
You got accepted! In the Defense Force now, you arrive at the admission ceremony. You smooth down your uniform - don't want to look unkempt in front of the lovely vice captain, now do you?
What a silly question, yet you continue to smooth and smooth, brushing off your shoulders and dusting your knees. Nervous, you suppose. You're just nervous. Right as you take notice that Kafka Hibino - the old guy - isn't present, the ceremony starts and Captain Ashido walks in, quiet and graceful. She stands at the column on the stage, placing down a binder before looking out at everyone. Absently, you wonder where Vice Captain Hoshina is. Kikoru is called to the stage as the representative. When she takes her place, the captain moves to the side of the column so each woman stands on either side of it. What if he and Captain Ashido are together? No, not the time to think about that. Never the time.
Handing Kikoru a paper, the captain addresses her, “As of this moment, the twenty-seven here assembled are officers of the Defense Force.”
Kikuro tucks the paper beneath her arm, saluting, “On behalf of all twenty-seven of us, I pledge that we’ll lay down our lives for the cause.” The captain says something muted to her, and a look of remorse crosses Kikoru’s face as she looks out at the crowd of new officers.
The doors creak, and you hear a sheepish voice, “Pardon me, everyone. Sorry to hop in here in the middle of everything.” Kafka Hibino dances shyly through the doors, causing heads to turn and comments to be made. Captain Ashido announces that he is not going to be an officer, but a cadet with the Third Division.
…Interesting.
A familiar voice catches your attention and you whip your head around to see Vice Captain Hoshina on stage. Though all he's doing is presenting formalities for the captain, you hang on to every word he says, relishing in the sound of him. The captain thanks everyone for deciding to be part of the Defense Force, and presents a few more formalities when Kafka speaks up, “I'll be at your side, Mina. I swear!”
The gall this man has, addressing his superior officer like that. Everyone looks at him, flabbergasted by his words. Well, actually by him using the captain’s first name. Composing herself, Captain Ashido assigns Kafka 100 pushups right then. Vice Captain Hoshina bursts out laughing, and you suddenly can't hear anything but him.
Him.
His laugh, the amusement in his voice when he speaks again, the way he smiles… You've developed an unhealthy obsession. You tell yourself that it's alright - not like you're gonna stalk the guy.
Kikuro approaches Kafka after he finishes his pushups, asking to talk alone with him. Weird. You shrug inwardly, turning your attention to the vice captain, who's attention is fully on Kafka.
Look at me, dammit.
That night you lay in your bed, hands folded over your stomach, stuck deep in thought. Thoughts about him floated through your brain. A future between the two of you. How you two would interact on dates. How you would make love. His sweaty face after he finishes training. His compression shirt hugging him perfectly.
Him.
You fall asleep that night with a smile, hoping to see him in your dreams.

If I Were Stronger. [Narumi Gen x Mitsuri! Reader]🌸
Tumblr media
🌸Synopsis: What if Mitsuri! reader was there during the fight with Isao Shinomiya?
Part of the Mitsuri! reader series
tags: angst with comfort, MANGA SPOILERS (ch 51), character death, narumi x reader, fem!reader, Mitsuri!reader, reader and Narumi are kikoru’s mentors, kikoru and reader are close, hopeful ending.
It’s quiet in the First Division base.
On a solemn morning, the flags of the base are lowered. Everyone stands in formation, giving a final salute to the loss of a legend.
Standing up front, Narumi Gen holds himself strong in front of his troops, his back so far away. Despite the respect he earned, the high praises,  the honor of dying in the battlefield, no one can deny that the death of General Shinomiya was a tragedy.
A few steps behind him were the other platoon leaders, and for a moment, time had stopped. No rowdy battle cries, no arguments. Not even the bounce from their resident bright ball of sunshine.
it’s quiet. It’s unlike you.
As your eyes drift to Gen’s backside, the black fabric feels like an abyss peering into your memories. The scar from that day that you shared with him. Fresh wounds that you tried not to show.
You were there when it happened, after all.
“GENERAL SHINOMIYA IS ENGAGING WITH KAIJU NO. 9! ALL UNITS, STAY ON HIGH ALERT!”
As you stopped to turn to your right, you could hear the clash of weapons, as well as the sound of falling debris and rubble. Was that them?
“Platoon leader (L/N) speaking. I’m near the main site and approaching!”
It was a race against time, one where you prayed that you could make it. Narumi and Kaiju No. 8 were speeding ahead too, surely, with the four of you against #9, you could stop him.
You didn’t even register the long run it took from your area to where General Shinomiya was. Not even the pain from the multiple wounds you sported. All you remembered was rubble flying everywhere, and racing to Kurusu’s front as soon as you spotted him.
“Kurusu-san!” Kurusu coughs from breathing out the dust from the rubble you sliced into pieces.
“Platoon leader (L/N!)” He exclaims in disbelief, still holding onto his laptop whilst you provide cover. As you tried to study the situation, more and more rubble threatened to hit Kurusu. The general was standing strong, his number’s weapon holding against #9. “Please don’t worry about me–provide cover to the chief!” Kurusu stated, before getting interrupted by Isao himself.
“(L/N)!!” Stunned at General Shinomiya’s booming voice, you and Kurusu turn towards him. “Evacuate Kurusu!”
“BUT SIR–”
“AT ONCE!” at General Shinomiya’s orders, you immediately change your stance, picking Kurusu up.
“YES SIR!” Without a moment’s hesitation, you hastily jump away with Kurusu, not knowing what the general had in plan. You hoped he had a plan at all. You could still move, you were strong. You had to do something.
Kurusu’s words brought your attention back to him. “High energy levels–is he planning to use No. 2’s blast?!” Gasping as you let him down at a clearing, the two of you immediately fell to your knees at the sheer amount of pressure suddenly forming from the spot where Isao stood. So that was why…
You nearly flinch at the gunshot from the ceremony, the sound bringing you back to the present. Narumi’s back was still in front of you, only showing a part of his side profile.
It must’ve been so heavy on him. You knew, even from how stoic he was with everyone, that Narumi meant a lot to him. That General Shinomiya also meant so much to Narumi. That their bond, though unspoken, was strong.
And now he’s gone. He was taken from him right in front of his eyes.
But it wasn’t just Narumi that had a mentor taken away from him.
The ceremony ends, and you excuse yourself as soon as you find the chance.
A girl lost her father.
“GENERAL SHINOMIYA!”
Your mind drifts back to the battlefield, towards the seconds where you returned to General Shinomiya.
It’s eerily silent. You hated it.
“General Shinomiya! Do you copy?!” You breathed through your mask, twirling your sword through the air to get rid of the dust obstructing your vision.
The news from Kurusu shocked you to the bone. Two shots. Kaiju No. 2’s main burst twice in a row. General Shinomiya…
Your heart rate quickens. You had to support him fast. There’s no way his body could last. Please, please don’t let this happen again. The Defense Force can’t lose another leader. Especially not its director.
Memories of your late platoon leader flash through your mind, but you blink them away. Now’s not the time.
In the distance, you could see Narumi and #8, finally arriving on the scene. With your combined manpower, you could at least make sure that the general had time to recover.
Your feet ached as you caught your breath once more, now back in the building. You don’t know why or how your body took you here, but there you stood, hands on the lavish wooden doors, hearing the silent sobs of Kikoru Shinomiya.
Heart clenching, your knuckles turned white as you tried to calm your breathing, feeling your throat clamp up. You felt anger, felt grief. But that’s not what matters right now. You had to be there for her.
“Kikoru-chan,” at the sound of your voice and the creak of the door opening, her sniffles paused. You set aside any formalities, nevertheless how the both of you were technically trespassing. You were probably going to get an earful from your superiors too, with a member of your platoon skipping such an important event, indulging AND partaking in breaching what counted as private quarters. But that didn’t matter. Kikoru wasn’t your star student right now, she was just a girl.
You made your way closer to her, letting your stern demeanor falter as you stood in front of her.
“It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone. It’s okay to cry, Kikoru-chan.” You hushed her, slowly bringing your hands towards her.
When she started to sob again, you took her in your arms, sinking onto the floor as her body shook.
You hated the quiet. You hated this.
You hated how #9 disgraced Shinomiya Isao’s image in front of his own daughter.
The door creaks open again. This time, a heavier set of footsteps made their way to the late general’s desk. You didn’t have to look up to know who it was.
Perhaps Narumi and you were on much more similar wavelengths than you thought, because he at least disregarded how lax your behavior was as a platoon leader.
“You sure you didn’t want to see him off?”
The three of you shared a strange yet not unwelcome sense of acknowledgement and understanding in that room.
A shared wound that could only be understood by those who were truly there.
The horror you felt when #8 screamed the news to Narumi rang through your body like a bomb.
As you approached rapidly to the sight of what you thought was the general, you saw him turn around.
“GENERAL SHINOMIYA!” You cried out, mustering all of the power in your legs to reach him.
It wasn’t enough.
“THAT ISN’T THE CHIEF!”
You failed your role. Failed to be that barrier between what you sought to protect.
Kurusu and the others watch in horror through the feeds as the desecrated face of what used to be Isao turned, as if to mock him.
It was horrifying.
Letting out a gasp, you barely registered the giant blast he sent towards the three of you.
As the rubble cleared, you stood aside Captain Narumi and Kaiju no. 8, still in disbelief.
Hearing him speak about how he killed the general made your blood boil, your knuckles turning white.
But it broke your heart to see Kikoru just behind him after.
Clenching your fist, you and Narumi sprang forward in full offense.
“How dare you.” You swore, in a silent whisper that had never left your body before. As you twisted your body and launched yourself upward, you put your full force into slicing several of #9’s limbs, giving Narumi an opening.
But just as Narumi swore with his entire being that he would destroy #9 in Shinomiya’s place, #9 stopped the fight, throwing a casual remark about how he was going to “call it a day.”
Narumi has never lost his composure, and he doesn’t plan to. But he would not stand for such blasphemy–nor would he ever let #9 get away from him alive.
As he launched his attack, you followed suite with #8 into the fray, bearing your sword like a whip.
“LETS RAIN HELL ON HIM! #8! (L/N)!”
“SQUADRON STYLE BAYONET TECHNIQUE NUMBER ONE!”
“SECOND FORM: LOVE PANGS!”
Yet no matter how many hits you got in, no matter how many times Narumi charges at him, no matter how strong #8’s hits was, the three of you were still being pushed back.
You prayed again, prayed that through some high power, no matter what it takes, that you’d be able to end this right now.
“!!!” Your eyes widened as a shot from #9 misses you and hurdles itself towards Kikoru instead.
Without thinking, you immediately move to defend her, taking the brunt force of the hit with your machine gun. “NO!” You yelled. You can’t afford to lose her either.
Kikoru stares at you with wide eyes, as you steady your balance and change stances to use your other weapon.
Breathing heavily, you let out a cry as you shot at #9 relentlessly, acting as suppressing fire for Narumi and #8.
It was always in your nature to protect. And you couldn’t afford to fail with Kikoru as you did her father.
Her suit had probably overheated, she was out of commission. The least you could do was–
You let out a string of coughs, a metallic taste in your lips.
Suit overheat. Suit overheat. Cooldown required.
“(L/N)-SAN!” Kikoru screamed, distressed at the data reading of your suit. She cursed over how she was frozen to her spot.
“I still have some fight left in me!” You put your arm in front of her. Kikoru was a bright girl, with a bright future ahead of her. The more you could spare her now, the better.
You were about to put away your gun to slow down your overheating, but just as you did, the sight of one of #9’s attacks slipping between Narumi and #8’s defenses entered both you and Kikoru’s field of vision.
Your eyes widened, feeling the burn of your body as you forced yourself to move.
“KAFKA!” You yelled, taking the hit for him.
You knew Kaiju no. 8–No, Kafka was special, not just to the Defense Force, but to those that cared for him. He was loved. By Kikoru, by the 3rd Division. You had the utmost pleasure of bonding with him from the start of his stay in the 1st Division. You were one of the first to accept him.
And you couldn’t bear to see Kikoru hurt even more.
Narumi’s eyes widened as red splotched your suit, your machine gun wrecked by #9’s burst.
He knew that with your caring personality, you’d always take the choice to wedge yourself to be that layer of protection. He hated that about you sometimes, but especially this time.
But there was no time to worry, you wouldn’t allow it. “RESUME ATTACK, CAPTAIN AND NO. 8!” You choked out, barely nailing your landing. The attack burned through your machine gun and messed you up good.
As you scramble to get on your feet, your legs caved in, making you unceremoniously thud to the ground. Now you’ve really done it. “I messed up…”
Narumi swears he saw red. He’d never say it out loud, but the grip he had on his bayonet was so hard, he swung, uncaring if his nerves could snap in half.
You could hear the sound of fighting continue just a dozen meters ahead of you, but your vision was going black. You felt something warm running down your forehead and covering your eye. Your ears were ringing.
As strong as The Love Pillar is known to be, she was still a human.
You could barely even hear from your comms now. Was that still Kurusu talking? “REROUTING (L/N)’S SUIT TO FULL HEALING! PREPARE PARAMEDICS!”
No, you can still fight. For your place in the Defense Force. For your oath to protect, for the 1st division that welcomed you so warmly. For Captain Narumi. For Mr. Shinomiya.
And humans always had an exploitable weakness.
Suddenly, the air stiffens just as your hearing returns to hear Kaiju no. 9. “Ah, I should have done this from the beginning.”
“What…” You and Kikoru’s eyes widened at the sudden incoming blasts moving towards the both of you.
You stiffen up as your instincts tell you to fight back. To draw your machine gun or to jump out of the way. To protect Kikoru.
…But you couldn’t feel your legs.
“BASTARD!” in a haze, you only hear Narumi’s yell from a distance, still trying frozen in place.
The last thing you saw was his back in a protective stance, shielding you from the blast.
And the body of Isao Shinomiya flying to the sky, waging war to all of humanity.
It hurts to think, it hurts to remember. It hurts to see the people you care about skewered by guilt and sadness.
It hurt you the most when Narumi sat on the stretcher next to you, hunched over whilst gripping his head in his hands when he thought no one was looking.
You were unknowingly clenching onto the fabric of Kikoru’s uniform too, you realize, as you hear her talk to Narumi. How she wouldn’t even let herself grief.
At the sound of that, Narumi declares something.
“I’ll make you the strongest after me.” You and Kikoru look up in surprise. “I’ll drill what mr. Isao drilled into me to you.”
As Kikoru’s tears ran, so did her newfound determination. The fight isn’t over. It’s just begun. She swears to it, as you and Narumi bear witness.
“(L/N).” He turns to you, causing your body to stiffen. “I’m entrusting this duty to you. Direct orders,” you straighten, getting back on your feet.
You’ve never seen Narumi like this before.
“Sir.” you fix your appearance, trying your best to look stern. You were never really good at it.
“Get stronger.” You bit the inside of your cheek at his words. It wasn’t just an order, it was a statement. “Train Shinomiya. Be at each other’s side,”
“Show me results.”
***
It’s very awkward to have to take an elevator ride with Captain Narumi after that whole ordeal.
You didn’t even know where to look. For once, no conversations flowed through your mind.
“This is bad!!! This is very bad!!!” You internally panicked. Never mind the constant headaches and large amount of medical treatment you still needed to undergo, you were fretting over what he would say to you as a platoon leader trespassing and enabling a rule breaking cadet! “I can’t look him in the eye!”
“Um…” You broke the silence, yet Narumi made no effort to look in your direction. “Captain.”
You bit your lip. What were you to even say? Yes, you and Narumi were close, but this atmosphere… the weight of the world was on him. Could you even be there for him?
But you remember how hard this was for him. How much of a front he’s handling right now. So, you merely soften your voice, to sound as respectful as possible. Then, you bow. “I’m terribly sorry for your loss, sir.”
Narumi still doesn’t move. Not like there’s anywhere to go.
You wonder if you’ve overstepped any boundaries. He was still your captain, even if you sort of had a strange bond with him. Maybe not as strange as what he has with Vice Captain Hoshina, but still. He was a friend.
“Thank you, (L/n).” Your shoulders immediately relaxed, letting out a breath you didn’t know you were holding.
“I’ll follow your orders to the end. I’ll get stronger, Narumi-kun–” you hold your tongue. “Ahem, Captain Narumi.”
Finally, he turns to look at you. Maybe if your head wasn’t still pounding and you weren’t so fussy over how the bandages felt wrapped around your head, you’d notice how his gaze softened. “You’re still recovering from your injuries. You’re forbidden to go to the training hall.”
“Eh?” You blinked. “Ah, ok. Yes sir.” You twiddled with your fingers, now embarrassed. Right, you weren’t even supposed to be out and about yet.
As your gaze landed on the floor, you failed to notice Narumi’s sight falling onto your figure, furrowing his expression at your slightly limped stature. You had sustained much more severe wounds than him, even if you were still standing.
But that was just it, you were still standing, and he was god damn thankful for that.
It was a much better sight than seeing your unconscious, limp body in his hands before you were passed to a stretcher and flooded by paramedics, his sight refusing to leave you even as another pair of medics tried to assess his own condition.
The heat he felt searing through you as he cradled your unconscious body burned through his own skin as a reminder that you were alive–but you were in bad, bad shape. You had paid the price of increasing your abilities past what your suit could handle, reaching a fever of nearly 40 degrees and immediately requiring an IV drip. he had to bark at Kikoru to keep her distance, under the guise that the paramedics weren’t done with you, that she needed medical attention herself, but he himself knew that wasn’t the full cause of his reasoning. He didn’t want her to see you like this.
You were so unlike yourself, motionless on that stretcher, lacking the life and luster that enveloped you.
It was terrifying.
When the paramedics left and he finally got a moment to himself, all he could do was hunch forward, hands grasping roughly at his scalp. The incident flowed through his mind like a waterfall, from the desecrated face of Isao Shinomiya, the war Kaiju no, 9 had waged against him and humanity, the pained face of his disciple, and lingering feel of your lifeless body cradled against him.
He would never let this happen again.
The elevator shakes a bit as Narumi straightens his gaze.
“And…” Your head perks up again, bright eyes meeting his fuchsia gaze. “Loosen up. I’ve had enough of formalities today.”
He breathes out your name, in a fervor unheard of from the image of Japan’s strongest. A more boyish, young tone. “Show me results like you did when we first met, (Y/N).”
Your mouth gaped a bit, before the familiar smile you always sported, albeit softer, makes its way back to your face. “At least grieve properly, Gen. I know how much he means to you.”
Maybe it was how you operated, your clockwork, but Gen feels a realization with how a part of him had been laid out to you without him knowing, and with that part alone, you had studied and lived with so graciously, that the way you had softly soothed him with your presence had taken him off guard by how welcoming his subconscious was to it.
You were unlike anyone else he had ever met. No one had ever read him like this.
Even when he was silently processing your words, you simply watched him in understanding, your gaze never making him uncomfortable. He was just so accustomed to your presence.
Had you always been so close, he wonders, when he finally realizes that his fingers had grazed yours.
Looking at each other in mutual shock, you were the one to recover first, to boldly squeeze his hand with an unspoken vow, to pull him into your presence. To let his grief flow.
It flashes through his mind then, his youth with Isao, all his efforts to earn his gaze, how he fought so hard for results. How he’d never see that damn old man reel back in tears over how much he’s achieved now.
It squeezes his heart.
But at last the memories flow.
And he lets the feel of your warmth meld with his skin, the calloused bumps and slight burn from your bandages rubbing against his own as he finally squeezes back, not even out of his own accord. His fingers moved on their own.
When the moment ends and your touch becomes that of a ghost, Narumi is taken aback by how his hands nearly chased after yours.
He wonders how you feel, but at the ding of the elevator floors, you had awkwardly flitted the topic of the conversation away again, leaving unanswered questions.
“I’ll still oversee Shinomiya’s training. It’s what she needs most.” You stare at the cold doors of the elevator, not really knowing why you’re still letting your mouth run. “I know we both believe in her. She has a bright future ahead.”
You feel Narumi’s gaze land fully on you now. “Exactly why I said what I said. Better not see you slack off and let her catch up to you as fast, (Y/N).”
His tone is lighter now, you note. Your heart fluttered a bit at the more casual honorific too. That relieved you, bringing your smile back. “I have no intention of losing, Gen.”
The entire incident still felt heavy in both of your hearts, knowing what happened. But as long as you can be there for Narumi, you’ll support him in whatever way he needs.
The elevator dings as you both reach the ground floor. “One more thing.”
You turn to him, blinking.
“Once you’re healed, report to my office.” He walks out first. “Mr. Isao probably wanted to see this for himself, but–”
“You’re eligible for a numbers suit.”
--
A/N: Whew that was a wild ride.... i might do numbers suit reader or meeting hoshina soon!

ISAO. 01
Tumblr media
He had felt lost, to say the least, ever since Hikari had disappeared from this world. It was like there was a significant part of himself just gone, and nothing could fill in the gap. Not the mountain of work he took on or the harsh words he spoke to Kikoru from the fear that she'd go through the same one day.
And so he didn't even notice when Shinomiya Hikari had disappeared from his life as well. Only when you had shown up did the fog finally clear. He watched the way you'd treat Kikoru with so much love and the nostalgic way she smiled warmly back at you, and the view in front of him cleared for the first time in so many years.
How hadn't he seen it before? How long had he been in this state of mind? Why had you stuck around and waited for someone like him?
Yet, it wasn't some rocket science answer, there wasn't even a deep sensible reason— it was horribly simple. You just loved him, so genuinely. You loved someone like him.
But now he sees you, he's looking right at you, so please wait just a little longer. He'll be yours and yours alone in no time.

From the dirt, the lotus blooms
Tumblr media
Smoking and drinking for the first few paragraphs...
Naomi wished to give up. She was just at a loss for doing anything. She genuinely had no idea anymore to stop her bad habits. She sat down on the dining chairs, just looking at every single one of the bottles she recently consumed. She couldn't refrain herself from her drinking habits anymore nor could she do anything else. She just kept staring at the bottles and did not notice when the door creaked opened and her husband had entered.
Tanaka had a cigarette in his mouth as she looked at Naomi. He had an unreadable expression on his face as he held onto the groceries in the other hand. He faced Naomi who was lost in her own world while staring into space. With a sigh, he went towards her and dropped his bags. Taking a seat next to her. Naomi finally snapped out of it having a devastating expression on her face. She was ready to just lose it all.
Tanaka held her firmly as her removed his sunglasses. He spoke in a hushed tone. " Anica turns 19 tomorrow. I think we should change ourselves. She had to have seen some changes in us, at minimum. Even the reason we stay together because of her and she has not a single clue. Once she passes the defense force exam. We, we, we.." Tanaka's voice turned softer and more quieter as he continued.
"We divorce, right?" Naomi's eyes just glanced at Tanaka. He gave a painfully slow nod. She knew it. She freaking knew it. After starting the habit of drinking and Tanaka smoking she knew they needed space by themselves to change and re- grow. She is only 32, she and him need space to live a new life to become a better person. A better defense force officer, a healthy person, a joyful person and most importantly a better mom.  Tears were starting to form in her eyes as she quickly stood up and mumbled "Okay, yeah okay. Let's just wait till Anica gets accepted into the defense force.." Dashing towards the room she slammed the door. Tanaka just looked at her. Feeling her pain as he too went into his room and shut the door.
Anica was slumped against the wall as she had clamped her hand on her mouth. Listening to every bit of conversation her parents no adoptive parents had. She knew her mom had drinking habits and her dad having smoking problems. She even knew they played a happy family for her even though they were broken in the inside. She had caught her mom dad drinking smoking multiple times and heard a lot of there conversations, but still. Still she felt her heart breaking and aching at every moment. At the mention of divorce it made her want to scream and cry her heart. She is 19, she failed to get into the defense force the previous year but this year if she got in, her family was destined to break and shatter and all she could was just sit there and watch everything crumble.
She also hid things from her parents.
Anica took quick strides as she walked out of her house. She just needed peace. "It's all my fault." She thought to herself.  Feeling so helpless and useless.  Walking and walking until she finally stopped, in front of an hill. She walked behind it as she was completely now in an abandoned place now.
The leaves and flowers rustled as the gentle wind blew. The entire area had greenery covering it fully, it made for a calm and even cozy atmosphere. Anica settled on the grass, as the smell of blooming flowers came to her. She just wished to close her eyes and sleep away her problems but that was interrupted by a voice of someone or something calling out to her. "Did it get any better?" The entire area felt like it had a change of some sort as Anica sighed and spoke.
"No, it got even worse. When I will get accepted they will get divorced and will probably go their separate ways. I don't even know what to do now, just seeing them go further and further till they will never be close enough for me to just reach out and hug them. Anica's voice cracked as she didn't know how to even express anything at this point.
"You know how crazy you are. Talking to someone like me, for years. Perhaps who might be a spirit, a ghost, or something else. You come to me when you need peace. That makes you my friend, my best friend. The only one I will ever have.." The entity spoke as she wind was getting stronger. Just as Anica could speak something else a jarring alarm ruined the peace.
