i generally have really strong feelings about everything to do with the gen 3 games, maybe moreso than any other gen, which is interesting to me cause it isn’t my top favorite gen or anything, and also they tend to be free of the worst of pokemon discourse since most people really like hoenn especially. but i have interacted with all of these games and all their clunky hardware so deeply in recent years and i’ve walked away with extremely strong opinions. i love gen 3 and i love talking about it and i have so many positive things to say but also any criticism i give them is with love and careful consideration. there’s nothing else like gen 3 in the franchise tbh

I'm so sad the PLvsPW game and the DGS duology came out after aa5/aa6 bc if they didn't then maybe the ending of ajaa/aa4 being all "we worked to make a jurist system" could have lead to an ajaa2 with that mechanic and things would have felt like there is an actual progression within the world

So, it's @heckitall birthday and I've decided to try myself at animation again and had this one specific song playing on repeat in my head which just fitted absolutely perfect to the idea I had!

I'm not sure if you could actually call that thing I made an "animation" but I tried my best with the programs I had.

A small update/heads up about the Valentine's day -

We'll start accepting submissions for the event 2 days before (February 11th) the official date and will keep accepting entries for an week after the date (February 20th). This goes for everyone regardless of where you post it or whatever your entry may be! Preferably all entries should be submitted in the official date, but these extensions are meant for ppl who feel like they won't be able to post it on the day. Or late-runners.

After that extension has expired, the AO3 collection will be closed and I'll no longer retweet/reblog posts in the blog/account

I'm thinking about how canonically Izuru doesn't experience emotion but it would be infinitely more interesting if he experienced vestiges of emotion that he didn't understand.

I kind of incorporated that into my last writing, the one about him, but I think it's a bit of a missed opportunity for Izuru to find a reason to do things other than being interested in them, especially since that seems to be either hope or despair.

Like, for example, the faults in his own existence and learning.

In "Split", I incorporated the idea that Izuru isn't taking into account the exact make and model of the ball in his hand, something that he would have know way of knowing without any real world experience. Talent isn't everything, and Izuru has no way to apply it without any knowledge. So therefore, Izuru would have no way of knowing its durability because he's never experienced anything like it before.

It's a small example of something I want to incorporate into my characterization of him on a larger scale, but I think that if Izuru were given cause to doubt his superiority over talent (for example, he met someone that went against what he was taught and his assumptions were proved to be wrong), he would find interesting events in participating in things he has no way of knowing about.

Yes I think that Izuru Kamukura, superhuman manifestation of talent and hope, would find joy in going grocery shopping. He would find it boring, yeah, but I think that everyday life would be compelling enough that if he DEIGNED to "step down" to the level of an ordinary person, he would find it annoying, but I also think it would be a rewarding experience for him.

Maybe it's just me reading into something that's not there but I think that Izuru deserves some joy in his life, joy that comes not from something Interesting happening, but that comes from the inherent chaos of everyday life.

I also think it's just inherently impossible for such arrogant people to create a "perfect being". Izuru will always be imperfect, and I think he would realize that. He has enough self-awareness. I think.

Feel free to add onto this post, as I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this.
