Has the new zero two movie changed your mind or added anything in a positive light to any of the zero two ships?
Oh, that is an interesting question, thank you for asking!
Though I think I have already kinda hinted at it during my last analysis posts regarding the movie and recent dramas: There wasn't (a lot of) actual "romantic" ship portrayal in my opinion. Which is actually a good thing in my book, but let's see what we got there. Putting my thoughts under a cut, because there are still a lot of people who haven't watched the movie!
First of all, let's name the few significant - or at least implied - interactions that are displayed in the movie:
Daisuke & Ken. Daisuke & Miyako. Ken & Miyako. Daisuke & Ken & Miyako. Daisuke & Rui (& Ken). Takeru & Hikari.
And that's basically it. As mentioned before, the movie itself only has roughly 90 minutes, due to pacing and plot, there isn't a lot of interpersonal interaction that goes beyond the general display of "friendship". The dramas are WAY better at showing off the dynamics between the characters, but we're not talking about that right now. But yeah, the Jogress combinations besides Daiken don't have significant interactions, Iori gets the shortest end of the stick ever, they don't have a single moment of Daisuke fawning over Hikari. So let's focus on the few relationships I mentioned above:
Daisuke & Ken: They're already one of the aspects that save 02 for me personally, which sounds more grim than it actually is, but I've always loved their dynamics a lot. You can feel the fondness (and admiration) they have for each other, their characters contrast and complement each other still beautifully. And even if the display of their bond could have been even deeper - Miyako calling them out for "flirting" will always be my favourite part of the movie. Someone recently pointed out to me how there might even be an underlying codependency between these two, which is an interesting angle to focus on as well, but I'd say the movie hasn't made me love them more or less than I did before. They're just great, I've shipped them before and I will keep shipping them!
Daisuke & Miyako: They're more of a comic relief combination than anything else, which hasn't changed much since they had been children after all. Personally, I've always seen them more as siblings than romantically compatible and the movie kiiiiinda proved my point in that? It depends on how you want to interpret certain framings. Especially because Miyako is particularly framed with someone else...
Ken & Miyako: ... And that is Ken. I already mentioned in my big post-watch analysis that, while you can definitely read every interaction between the characters as platonic, they were REALLY keen to put emphasis on Miyako focusing on Ken. There were several moments where she approached Ken on her own account, encouraged him, exchanged glances... And yes, her words can be taken as flirting (especially by the end of it!) and the snowball fight may have made a lot of Kenyako fans ecstatic! Understandably so! It's interesting, because they definitely have NOT put that much emphasis on a blooming relationship on a certain other future-canon ship, but I digress... Long story short, they definitely showed Miyako being interested in Ken, directing speeches towards him that you would usually expect from Daisuke. Ken on the other hand still seemed rather baffled at her behaviour, but it was a start. An interesting start! They have not really been a ship for me so far, and the one-sidedness is still something they need to work on, but I would say the movie did a decent job with them.
Daisuke & Ken & Miyako: Take everything I have outlined above and just make them a poly ship, THAT would be interesting. It may actually be the most satisfying conclusion in a timeline where Kenyako will turn out to be endgame anyway, even though the chemistry between Daiken is undeniably there! All jokes aside, it was amusing to witness the bickering between them, there was quite the chemistry (and jealousy?) between them.
Daisuke & Rui (& Ken): What can I say? Daisuke has a thing for "boys who suffer (tm)" and thanks to his irresistible positivity, he will ALWAYS pull them. Always. While Rui is still a different brand from Ken and Wallace, it really is not surprising that the lone wolf is visibly impressed by Daisuke (with Ken watching over them carefully, as the voice of reason). Considering the fact that I still prefer Daiken, I can still appreciate the dynamic, even though it wasn't the first time they pulled that trope.
Takeru & Hikari: Long story short - they held BACK with these two. They did in the movie, they did in the dramas. Which, again, is not a bad thing, since I personally enjoy how casual and comfortable they are with each other. Them being in each other's spheres is just natural - and I was DELIGHTED to listen to them writing fanfiction about their brothers and friends while being out for drinks in their drama. But if you were looking for romantic implications, you may get disappointed. While they DID get their own snowball fight scene (breadcrumbs!) and had a few softer interactions, there could have been more. While I did prefer them platonic myself for the majority of my life, I have generally grown more fond of them romantically in the past few months - so I am fine with either of their readings. But the movie hasn't had an effect on my perception of them.
Long story short - in sum, the movie didn't provide enough interpersonal interaction to change my perception of the ships in the grand scheme of things. Daisuke/Rui was a new addition, so it doesn't really count, but I WAS surprised to see them put emphasis on Miyako subtly woo-ing Ken, which was an interesting idea that was decently executed - even if it was still one-sided and didn't disrupt the true love-line (no, not a triangle!) of the movie:
Miyako loves: Ken. Ken loves: Daisuke. Daisuke loves: Ramen

TToTT I feel like a geriatric when I try to interact with the Sims. I am having a fun time, but it’s all way too enmeshed with old Sims generations (yes, two has plenty of ride or dies, but one… uhh, kiiiiinda doesn’t) to be easy to chat about in the S4 community.
How’m I gonna reasonably show off the re-interpretation I made of a Sims 1 NPC? I put layers into my remake of that scantily dressed vampire. I pulled her traits from game mechanics! How can I explain the lore I’ve built her? Folks might appreciate my Tragic Clown, but nobody’s going to like sexy, hip young Mister Smith or the little kid who lives in that plane with the plane guy in Strangerville. No one will enjoy how I’ve roughly mapped some TS4 worlds out to just be parts of the TS1 neighbourhoods, or the lore improvements I want to make to the archaeology. Surely Tartosa has a proper Aarbyvillian history? Anyone wanna see my reinterpretation of Don Lothario? He’s a shitty teen living in his mom’s basement. She’s renting an illegal apartment also down there out to a strapping deadbeat who looks an aaaaaaaaawful lot like young Donny. She and her dead hubs are both also Makin’ Magic npcs. I made one of the magic realm sages a cross between Gwyneth Paltrow and Faerie Queen Mara. Mara’s ashes are in her quarters, unclear if related or murdered or both. There are a bunch of Sims 2 premades up there, too. Anyone free to giggle at the Goths’ skeleton butlers and maids, Hector, Harold, Helen, and Helga Boehn? They don’t talk about their sister Hilda - she’s a bit of a black sheep. I replaced all the maids and nannies in my game with ones from past games! That was dumb and took for-fucking-ever! Wanna see the characters I took from Midnight Hollow? Most of them are dead now. Why’s Ophelia Villa named Ophelia Villa? Well it’s haunted by three nearly identical unnamed ghosts called the Ophelias. There are a bunch more very similar women - alive, though - on a farm out in Henford. That’s kinda weird! I brought Lolita Goth back and gave her some background. It isn’t happy. I spent an entire week making pedigreed Siamese cats. They all died and got culled and now I have to re-make them because someone (me) forgot to change their flags. I played with fancier breeding trends over history, too, which was a Project. Moonwood Mill has many werewolves in it, but ALSO many regular wolves now! I incorporated the lore across relevant packs all over the place. Newcrest is a clannish, isolationist community with communal childrearing and a personal religion, wanna see? The religion situation in my save is diverse and complex and has extremely little to do with IRL religions!
I just want someone to shout about these things at

OKAY i want to list the songs from the Suddence playlist that fit these
accurate to the character's story: LIAR by the arcadian wild. literally EXACTLY what dany is going through. it's actually kind of scary. listen i can't post exactly which lyrics are relevant because it's literally just the entire song. but for the sake of this post, it's these:
I sense deception to come Honestly, truth and I are never one 'Cause I am the lying man And I have made you my next victim Oh, I need you to see through my act To tell me I'm wrong, to take off the mask Or else I'll be left in the lie And I'll deceive my way straight to demise
doesn't fit but i was thinking about the character: CHERRY TREE by the national. i think it's a song about someone being cheated on but he doesn't want to confront his lover about it so he just keeps quiet about it BUT LIKE. the whole idea of "i know a secret but i don't want to talk about it" and the dark and cautionary mood of the song and the constant repetition of "loose lips sink ships" and the singer very clearly trying to evade a confrontation? that's just. that's dany, man. if i just pretend this song isn't about infidelity then it's about dany.
one or two lines accurate: DEAR WORMWOOD by the oh hellos. the lyrics can kiiiiinda of be about dany (in vibes at least) but the last bit really makes me think of them
I know who I am now I know who I want to be I want to be more than This devil inside of me
the character's vibe: the main theme from the movie LOGAN. it's that melancholy and lonely vibe, man. also Suddence is inspired by Logan so it tracks.
i personally like it and want the character to listen to it: SUMMER BEGS by sarah jaffe. it's sad-sounding but HOPEFUL!! it's about finding a better future! it about peace in life despite everything! dany needs to hear it so bad
Sing to me now Right out your window Your father'd be proud Now that it's simple But don't sing too loud You'll wake up the neighbors And they will complain So I must persuade them Hold it right there I don't wanna move And summer it begs It begs us to prove That we can last Just one more season And that there, gives me a reason
fits the character so well it's scary: I FOUND A WAY by first aid kit. also so accurate it's scary. this song and LIAR are top contenders for "most accurate".
So the morning came and swept the night away As I was looking for a way to disappear Amongst the quiet things and all these empty streets I found a way, I found a way, to reappear
don't know why it's here: i keep my playlists carefully curated so every song has at least a tangential relation to the story, so any song that i was only emotionally attached to were removed. HOWEVER, i do remember one of them being IT TORE YOUR HEART OUT by dirt poor robins, which i DO imagine someone editing a very angsty AMV to if Suddence ever becomes a show, but whenever i review the lyrics i'm just like. man. i have no idea what this song is even about. my interpretation brain is in the gutter. (although now i'm considering putting it back on the playlist if CHERRY TREE is allowed to be there...) anyway these are the lyrics that are relevant:
It tore your heart out Oh! When you didn’t understand Why you want what you wanted
character playlists always should have the following:
song that is pretty accurate to the character’s story
song that doesn’t fit the character at all but i was thinking about them while listening to it on loop
song that has one or two lines accurate to the character’s story
song that just kind of is the character’s vibe
song that i desperately wish they would listen to because i personally like it
song that fits the character so well that it’s scary
unsure why this song is in the playlist but it’s so ingrained in my mind as 'part of the playlist' that it would feel weird to remove it

Bored/Out of ideas so idea/realization
Mild spoilers for Bugsnax in general + credit stuff but basically it's just me spewing words at a post cus i'm in a writing mood
At the end of Bugsnax and what have you, Buddy/Journalist basically helps Filbo become mayor and eventually given the credit photos they accomplished that PLUS everyone else seems to be doing there best and what have you.
But what happens Buddy/Journalist? Sure you can say that they became like Filbo's secretary or whatev but given this muppet game is filled solely with people that need therapy let's just snatch those lenses and yet them onto the Journalist.
After the life risking journey to get an interview with Lizbert Megafig, he returns to not only be fired, but also legally dead. Sure they might get that fix but remember that they were not exactly the most credible after their previous works before the trip to Snaktooth, so they are already in the dirt, and now they are legally dead so that's another pile of issues to fix.
Also, don't forget that we are kiiiiinda skippin the whole triplicate ordeal with Clumby and Jamfoot given they MAY or MAY not be working with them from the start depending on how you view it yeah?
So we got a journalist who's fallen from grace and who's credibility is down the drain as it was, and after they risked their whole life for an interview they just get fired on the spot!
Sure you could say that the other Grumpuses went ahead and helped them get a stable living condition and what have you, or they moved in with Filbo, etc. etc. BUT I feel like there's a lil bit of potential in here that we could potentially do with. For instance, there's many ways one can go about what happened to Buddy/Journalist, after all it's all up to interpretation. BUT it could prove interesting too if they had to claw their way back to the top.
Buddy/Journalist not only needs to get a new job (either as a journalist again or as another job), but also get a stable income, and also just have a proper home to return to, you know the basic stuff needed to live. And that is IF they aren't already being observed by the Triplicate 24/7 as it is, given they are kind of a loose end they can't really burn away.
You can't really tell me that Buddy got the best ending along with the other grumpuses because this don't add up now that I properly think about it and just sayin this has some writing potential and such.

Wtf is wrong with you? None is the sides are manipulative
Why, I agree 100% with you, anon! When I look at the actions of the sides except for one I do not see manipulation. I see represented parts of an individual that are sometimes at odds with themselves. None of the sides except for one are manipulative towards each other or towards Thomas on purpose. So when I hear people say things like “Patton is such a manipulative character” after SvS or POF or “Virgil is so toxic, look how he manipulates the others” after Embarassing Phases, I feel the urge to point out how if their behavior is your threshold for manipulation?? Then you have no choice but to label every side as manipulative when you look at how they treat each other when trying to get their points across. I never said that I thought they were manipulative except for one. Saying that they except for one really aren’t at all was kiiiiinda the whole point of that post?
And anyway, this is a fictional series, and most of the characters are not full people, and thus the way they treat Thomas (and to an extent, each other) are not subject to the same scrutiny as the way real people treat each other in real life. I still wouldn’t call him manipulative, but if Patton were a human person who was friends with Thomas and he was telling him some of the things he does, then I would at least say “hey man, that’s overstepping your boundaries as a friend there.”
This fandom has a problem with purity culture, in the way it views the show, its characters, Thomas, and each other, and while we don’t do this specific thing so much anymore, we used to have a big problem with overusing/misusing the word ‘toxic.’ This character is toxic, this person is toxic, this fandom is toxic, etc. I actually hate that word now because of how this fandom tried to use it back in 2018, but that’s not the point here. The pOINT is that we are doing the same thing now with the word “manipulative,” and while some are more morally grey than others, none of the sides (by my interpretation of canon) in their current states of character development are toxic, and ONLY ONE IS MANIPULATIVE. AND IT’S NOT THIS GUY
Tumblr media
IT’S THIS ONE
Tumblr media
AND GUESS WHAT, THAT IS OKAY. I know we love to stan our snek, and this is nOT Janus hate or even “Janus Critical” or whatever we’re calling it now, from a storytelling standpoint in the show he is an ANTAGONIST. ANTAGONISTS DO BAD THINGS SOMETIMES! He’s getting more accepted, sure, but that is a SLOW process that if you actually look at the end of POF it should be obvious it is a process that he is NOT finished with yet, and just because sometimes he is Right about what Thomas should do doesn’t mean that what he did in the courtroom and especially on that stage in CLBG wasn’t manipulative as hell. He’s deception. Of COURSE he’s manipulative sometimes!!! And that’s fine! I’m not saying we should cancel this damn character because he does morally grey (or even, gasp, bad) things sometimes! What I really don’t have patience for is cancelling other characters who have done FAR LESS and using the word “manipulative” to justify it when turning a blind, forgiving eye to the oNE SIDE IN THE SHOW who has manipulated the others on purpose.
I’m not saying you have to like Patton or Virgil or whoever. Lord knows I’m not saying you can’t stan Janus, ffs, it’s a web series, you can like and dislike whoever you want in it! And if you interpret one of the sides differently than how they’re portrayed in canon THAT IS ALSO FINE! And if “””Unsympathetic””” sides are your jam, then you keep on reading and writing unsympathetic sides, broham, you do you! It’s Fandom! We can explore whatever we want to here! But maybe let’s stop harassing other fans for liking a character that you view, for one reason or another, to be problematic, maybe let’s stop insisting that fanon = canon, and MAYBE let’s not read an opinion piece and then go to that person’s blog and say “what the fuck is wrong with you.”

anyway my like last/second to last reblog made me think about this so caesar crusader au woot woot also it got kinda long so here’s a cut for those who dont wanna scroll through all that <3 also i didnt proofread so sorry i just dont care enough </3
first things first let me get the set up;; caesar joseph nd suzi all live in the same house u can interpret it as ot3 or just caejose and suzi is there to vibe w them and help joseph convince caesar to get into trouble, it’s however u want it
then either cause ot3 or suzi agrees 2 be a surrogate, holly is born, joseph’s still the dad like genetically but she’s raised by all three of em essentially and still ends up just as bubbly as she is in canon, except there is no absolute fuckign way she doesnt know hamon because caesar would never, and i mean NEVER, let his kid grow up w/o such a useful trick up her sleeve
then holly gets married, joseph embarrasses both suzi and caesar by how hostile he is towards sadao, caesar is more likely to cuff him over the head bc of it, so there’s that. doesnt change much ig but makes joseph thinks a LITTLE bit more before lashing out JKF;JFJ;S
jotaro comes along and he is caesar’s BOY ok. caesar just gets him. his quiet and calm demeanor (ik caesar isnt necessarily like that in general but around kids he is and as he gets older he’d give off that vibe more as he mellows out) made jotaro feel rlly relaxed around him and as a result he’s v open to him. joseph and suzi ofc have a relationship w jotaro as well but it isnt hard to see there is a bit of favorites playing, especially once jotaro grows up and really starts closing off to most ppl
caesar tries to encourage him to open up more to his family again, but this just ends up with him getting cut off as well. it’s sad ):
in the meantime tho joseph meets avdol and develops his stand. with avdol and caesar combined, they can kinda wrangle joseph into being productive w his energy, but theyre not full-proof. nothing will ever be full-proof against joseph
caesar nd avdol would get along rlly well me thinks. caesar would teach him sum italian and avdol would teach him so arabic. caesar wouldnt have a stand, but since stands r kiiiiinda described as just more intense versions of hamon, caesar can see like outlines of stands if he’s looking at them through one of his hamon bubbles. he only figures this out w avdol’s help. theyre buds
then they find out abt dio thanks to joseph’s stand and they all kinda. get srs. it’s time to search and all that for this fucker. caesar’s pissed cause his grandfather died for no reason now then, same w joseph. avdol helps them navigate the stand world as they search
honestly all is relatively well mostly but then. sdc begins
caesar hasnt heard from jotaro himself for like two years when holly calls them in a panic over him being in jail. og just caesar and joseph were gonna go, but then avdol brings up jotaro mightve developed his stand, since stands r kinda genetic, so they bring avdol along too cause he’s the expert here
they get there, jotaro calls his mom a bitch and is otherwise disrespectful and moody as fuck, and caesar is frankly just disappointed more than angry/frustrated, th opposite of joseph. this makes jotaro feel worse tho KJFN;;N
avdol gets him out tho, they head out. caesar scolds jotaro for snapping at holly and joseph when the only things they ever did were show care for him, and jotaro snaps at HIM in return. fuckin teenagers. caesar changes tactics then and tells jotaro about how he used to be a street thug and all that, and how he cut himself off from his family in an effort to keep them safe (as did his dad mario zeppeli and joseph’s mom djkndje;dn why do bad coping skills run in the family), but it didnt work and instead it just put them in more danger and unjustified/meaningless emotional turmoil. jotaro gets thoughtful over this
then jotaro heads to school and accepts his kiss from holly w/o much fight, just wordless grumbling. it’s a start, caesar guesses
then jotaro comes home with a fucking bloody body only an hour later BHILDFHUDHUJN;
avdol talks abt the fleshbud, caesar is concerned cause jesus h christ, that is a child, kakyoin was only 16-almost-17 when he got fleshbudded, it’s been months, holy shit ??? jotaro must have the same thoughts cause he goes to pull the fleshbud out to everyone’s panic
they decide to let jotaro do it tho and jotaro does, just like in canon. kakyoin’s still rlly rattled but w caesar nd holly both telling him it’s ok and jotaro’s weird ass “why did i save you? who knows.........” thing, he calms down
then holly gets stand sickness and everyone freaks out, even jotaro! kinda. he reacts much the same he did in canon except maybe a lil more frantic cause he had literally JUST decided to clean up his act and now his mom is dying. he wants to show her he knows better now. it’s rough.
caesar considers staying just to watch over his daughter esp cause he doesnt have a stand so it’s like, what would he even do, but then jotaro and kakyoin say theyre going and caesar is like “ok no. ur children.” “that’s my mom. im going either by myself or youll let me go with you.” “christ”
so caesar tags along just to keep an eye of these crazy kids and yeah
this is ending up as a whole fucking fic draft or some shit so im gonna stop here but if anyone is curious on my thoughts on how caesar would continue to affect things from here, lemme know nd ill elaborate. im PRETTY SURE...caesar being around would lead to avdol and kakyoin living cause hamon’s healing abilities, nd since he doesnt have a stand he kinda just ends up as team medic SOOOO....
anyway thanks for reading all thsi if u did JKD;JN;

Would you want Gwen and David to become a couple at the end of CampCamp? And adopt Max as well? Cuz' I do...
Gwenvid becoming canon is one of those things I simultaneously love and feel is unnecessary. The show will never let it be as pure and fluffy (or emo) as the fans will make it, anyway, and there is no force on earth that will stop me from shipping this ship with every ounce of my shriveled little heart, so I’m kinda ambivalent on the whole thing. (Besides, I know at least one of the showrunners is not at all into it, so I don’t see it happening no matter how much we may want it to. As long as they keep giving us little ship nuggets we can read way too much into, I’ll be good.)
Also I’m not convinced CC is the kind of show that needs an end, so “at the end” is one of those things that … eh, whatever. It’s an endless summer existing outside of time. Does it ever have to end, as long as they keep having new ideas?
As for the other part of this question … oh, boy. Anon, you did not ask me to go the fuck off on this question, but I gotta because I’ve been holding all this inside for literal years, and I don’t even care that this will make me hemorrhage followers because I’ve been very good and very quiet about it for a long-ass time and I just gotta –
I fucking hate Dad//vid.
And you know? I didn’t used to. My feelings, much like those regarding Cute Waitress, went from “how cute!” to “eh, not my thing but whatever,” and now we’ve circled all the way around to my entire soul lighting on rage-fire every time it’s mentioned, and just … I hate it so much … it’s just …
Tumblr media
I feel like this deserves an explanation. And I think the people who’ve already blocked me or whatever aren’t going to read it, so let’s put it under a cut just for the sake of scrolling. But here’s the cliffs notes version:
1. It’s #NotAllDad//vid. There are some iterations of it I don’t hate, and even quite like.
2. David adopting Max, as a general concept, blows. There are exceptions – see #1 – but 99 times out of 100 I hate it with all of my hate. (The short reasons why: David is baby and Forest has Issues, it’s kiiiiinda racist?, and it’s lazy, boring, and way overdone.)
3. The fandom will not fucking chill about it – at the expense of all other explorations of David and Max’s relationship. And that makes me highkey annoyed.
That being said, anyone who’s worried my blog will become a cesspool of dad//vid hate, please don’t be concerned. This is like lancing a boil of something (I’m bad at metaphors). All the garbage pours out in one massive textblock, and then I go back to being more or less chill about the whole thing. We’re dealing with years of repression here. Shit’s gonna be a lot more intense than it needs to be, and then we’ll settle back down to our regularly-scheduled CC fluff times.
I’m hoping this doesn’t make the fandom hate me forever … but given #3 up there, I’m pretty dang scared it will.
(And hey, I don’t want Cute Waitress to explode in a pit of fire and snakes anymore, so maybe my opinion on dad//vid will change eventually too. Always hold out hope, right?)
1. #NotAllDad//vid
Like I said, I didn’t used to totally despise the whole Dad//vid thing. Like, I love the idea of David having been a counselor for so long that he just has ingrained Dad Instincts (see S4E14 for the most recent example of this). David as the Dad Friend? Good shit. David as the mother/father hen of his little cabal of campers? Very good shit. Nonliteral interpretations of dad//vid are usually really cute and fun and have some solid basis in canon, and I’m all about it.
Even some of the more literal David-adopts-Max AUs aren’t … the worst. Some of my friends have written versions of it that are original or at least were at the time and really compelling, and usually they found a way of skirting past the majority of the issues in #2. It can be done well.
It just … usually … isn’t.
And for that we gotta see #2.
2. David-Adopts-Max Sucks as a Concept
There is nothing good about the idea of David adopting Max, at least based on what we’ve currently seen in canon.
(Yes, I am aware that I should couch statements like that with “in my opinion” and “with exceptions” and the like, but that’s a lot of work for this and a bunch of the stuff I’m gonna say in a second, so please just assume for the purposes of everything I put on this blog that it’s in my opinion. I’m not out here dropping Cold Hard Facts about Camp Camp of all things; I’m just spewing my feelings.
I have lots of feelings.)
I don’t really have a cute little opening segment for this, so let’s skip the hors d’oeuvres and hop right into the meat of it:
David is Way Too Young to be a Father (According to Forest, Who Has Massive Emotional Baggage About These Things)
David is 24 goddamn years old. You know who shouldn’t be put in constant legal charge of a 10-year-old? Someone who is only 14 years older than him. If he’d had Max the old-fashioned way he would be too young to go on 16 and Pregnant.
That is too fucking young.
I know that some people become parents that young, and even younger. I’m not saying your experiences are bad or invalid. I’m just saying, from the standpoint of being 26, that if one of my two-years-younger friends told me they were adopting a kid they knew from work, I would tell them they were fucking bonkers and to hand that child over to a grown-up immediately. This is especially true of David, who has remarkable emotional maturity but is also mentally about 8 years old. Gwen is the adult at that camp, and David is such a baby.
Please don’t give the baby a baby.
Also, I’m terrified of having children. I never plan to, I’ve only recently accepted the fact that I don’t have to (grew up religious; it was kinda a whole thing), and get knee-jerk defensive over the idea of anyone my age or younger having children. It freaks me out, and that’s not a good or right emotional reaction to have but it’s mine, and I lowkey panic every time I think of David having children because if he should have a child at 24 then I’m already late.
Yes, I get the feeling that I’m running behind. For something I don’t actually want, ever. In comparison to a fictional character. Whose fatherhood decisions are not even remotely canon.
TL;DR I have issues and my other arguments are decidedly more valid than this one
So How About That Racism, Huh?
I know this has been a matter of some debate in the CC fandom for a while now … but you know what? It’s not nearly enough of a debate. People should absolutely be talking more about the potential problematique aspects of having a way too young white kid take a child from his immigrant parents on some pretty shoddy evidence (which I’ll address in the next section). There’s some White Savior stuff going on there, some negatively-stereotyping-poc-and-immigrant parents going on there … I’m not saying these should completely disqualify any dad//vid AUs or speculation or anything, but it should absolutely be much more of a conversation than it currently is.
(This is why one of the few David-adopts-Max concepts I like is one in which his parents have died. Not only is it more interesting – again, see the next bit – but it neatly sidesteps some potential gross stereotyping, and that’s just always rad.)
I feel like the common counterargument to this is that there are not-great parents of color and not-great immigrant parents IRL, so wouldn’t it be dishonest not to portray that in fiction as well?
I mean … I dunno.
I’m not here to tell anyone how to write the One Pure Dad//vid AU or anything. But I will say that I don’t think most people in love with this concept have done anything resembling due diligence in considering how best to sensitively portray the complicated familial, racial, and other implications of this particular AU or concept.
Besides, it’s not real life. It’s fiction, which means any decisions are being made deliberately. It’s a choice to depict Max’s parents as abusive and neglectful monsters who immigrated to America to give their son a better life but that’s for the next section, and it’s not inherently a bad choice, but it’s one that should be made thoughtfully, with an eye to the history of negative stereotypes that already run rampant in fiction. That’s just part of the writing process, and not one that should be shunted aside because it’s more work and less dramatic than creating the biggest of big bads for David to make grand speeches at and/or punch in the face.
Just Not Very Interesting (And Done to Death)
Regarding the overdone thing: Reading a David-adopts-Max AU most of the time is just like reading every other David-adopts-Max AU; I’m pretty sure I could put all these fics on transparencies, overlay them on top of one another, and still have a legible story because they differ so little.
Now to be clear: This – along with the rest of my points in this section – are about personal taste. Some people love reading the same story over and over again, and it brings immense comfort to them. That’s okay, and you shouldn’t feel bad about reading (or writing) these stories and not wanting to break your back trying to find a new angle for it. Cringe culture is canceled, and my personal tastes should not dictate the fandom. You do you.
That being said, I’m also allowed to be so bored by almost all of these fics that I nearly fall asleep scrolling the AO3 feed.
And the frustrating thing is, it would take so little to make it different. All it would take is asking: what if it wasn’t that simple? What if his parents aren’t all bad? What if they’re trying their best, but aren’t able for whatever reason to care for Max the way he needs to be? (I’m thinking Deja’s mom from This Is Us, for a cool example.) What if they later come to regret whatever behavior is making them so sucky, and reconcile in some fashion with their son? What if David and/or Max have fundamentally misread the situation, due to being on the outside and a kid, respectively, and it turns out his parents are actually making the best decisions they can in this situation and David doesn’t need to literally become Max’s dad, but integrates into the family in another way? (Seriously, even “what if they’re dead instead of evil?” would blow my mind in terms of originality. It’s been done, but not nearly enough.)
So that’s the overdone thing out of the way. What about lazy and boring?
It just seems to me that, based on the evidence we’ve been given in the show, there are infinitely more nuanced and creative alternatives to “Max’s parents are canonically abusive and neglectful and deserve to have their child ripped away from them by the guy who sees him at his job like 2-3 months out of the year.” I, in fact, refuse to believe Max’s parents are bad people based on the current evidence, and won’t do so unless canon forces me to see no other option.
Because as of right now, I just don’t buy it.
Didn’t show up to Parents’ Day: Well, we know they immigrated from India to escape “menial labor” (S1E4), and we know capitalism stomps all over the kind of people stuck doing menial labor, so what if they were unable to get away from work or they’d be fired? Hell, what if they couldn’t afford it for whatever reason – car broke down, they don’t have a phone or were out of data, they got hurt or sick or something came up that was interpreted by a small child as a lack of interest because he’s been shown that he doesn’t fully understand either adults’ motivations (all of S1) or the complexities of living in adult society, though he thinks he does (S1E4)?
Didn’t give him an activity: What if their grasp of English isn’t great? It’s a damn hard language to learn, and I sure as hell couldn’t pick up a second language if I was working to the bone to support my family. I’m exhausted trying to get through my 5 minutes of French on Duolingo, and I have a relatively cushy job and the benefit of an owl harassing me every few hours. Maybe they looked at the absurd camp activities and assumed they were misreading something, so they handed it over to their son (who is clearly fluent) to pick something he likes. Maybe they wanted to give him some responsibility and a sense of autonomy in deciding what he wanted to do for the summer, and he was so annoyed at being sent off to camp that he refused to do it and interpreted their hands-off nature as not caring. Maybe they were tired and just told him to pick something and it’s as simple as that, because parents are allowed to be exhausted sometimes. Just strikes me as pretty bizarre that they’d bother sending their son to a summer camp (and those things aren’t cheap, even one as not-awesome as Camp Campbell) but not be invested enough to give him the activity. Saving all year to scrape together enough money for a summer camp, sure, but filling out one line on a piece of paper? Pfft, who has time for that bullshit?
(I recognize that assuming they’re poor based on a single line about “menial labor” might seem like a bit of a stretch to some people. But honestly, to me it’s no more of a stretch than assuming that they hate or don’t care about their son, or any of the other wild theories thrown around about Max’s parents all the dang time. At least this one is relatively new.)
Sent him a sweatshirt and a short note: Again, maybe their written English isn’t great. Some people are better at a spoken language than a written one. Or maybe they didn’t have enough time to write a long note, or they knew Max wouldn’t read it (he doesn’t seem like the type to be all that into long emotional letters). Regardless, they knew to send him something he’d like that would likely be worn down by constant wear at camp. And sweatshirts aren’t cheap. Neither is mailing a package. Just seems like a surprising amount of effort to go to if they don’t care about or love him.
Sent him to Camp Campbell for the summer: Let’s say they’re poor, based on the evidence we have. It makes sense to assume that they work relatively “unskilled” jobs, or are in school, or both. Because those jobs don’t offer benefits or a lot of money, we can also reasonably assume that they either work multiple jobs, long hours, or both. They probably don’t have family in the area or even the country, and it wouldn’t be reasonable to expect neighbors or friends to take their son in all day, every day, all summer so he’s not home alone while they’re at work (especially considering he’s not all that easy to get along with). He’s familiar with the city (S3E11), so we can assume he’s grown up in an urban environment, which means he’s probably to some extent a latchkey kid. Sending him to a summer camp would get him out of the city, around people his own age, where he’d be supervised and kept busy while his parents are at work until school starts. Camps are expensive, but I imagine Camp Campbell might be the best they can afford, and they’d assume it’s better than him sitting in an empty apartment all day.
Max’s insistence they don’t care: He’s … ten years old. Not only has he made it clear that he assumes the worst of most people, including adults, but it’s also relatively common for kids whose parents worked a lot while they were growing up to interpret that busyness as a lack of interest in them. It’s hard to understand things like expenses or financial security as a kid and view it as “my parents are never around and so they don’t love me.” Hopefully when he’s older he’d appreciate everything they’ve sacrificed for him, but at 10 years old it’s expected he’d feel neglected.
I’m just saying, maybe a borderline emotionally unstable child isn’t the most reliable source, is all.
This isn’t rock solid, I realize; I’ve made a lot of leaps of logic and assumptions extrapolating from what we’ve been given. But I don’t see it as any less plausible than his parents hating him or whatever the prevailing fan theories are, and more importantly: it’s a fuck of a lot more interesting (yes, yes, in my opinion). I think adding nuance and sympathy to Max’s parents will always end up more interesting than “good David vs evil parents.”
Of course, we’re in a bit of a limbo since we don’t know necessarily where RT is going to take this. There is every chance they’re going to drop the bomb that Max’s parents are literally as bad as everyone has made them out to be – and worse. Maybe they’re actually Xemug. Fuck if I know. And if that happens, I’m gonna call it out for being the cheapest and least-interesting of the possible options. Bad, lazy writing that pits pure good against pure evil is always gonna suck, even if it comes from the writers of one of my favorite shows.
I really, really hope they don’t go with that (to finally, I guess, answer Anon’s question fully). And I’m pretty forgiving when it comes to things people hate CC for: Dolph doesn’t bother me, most of the problematic episodes don’t bother me (that pee one is still pretty rough though), but if they go the “Max’s parents are the devil and that is why Max is the way he is” route, I’m gonna … well, just be so profoundly disappointed that the showrunners could’ve done something interesting and decided instead to go for the lowest-hanging fruit, that’s all.
FINALLY:
3. This Fucking Fandom
So here’s the thing. Dad//vid is unique among the “ships” in the fandom in that it is deliberately placed as “the anti-Max//vid.” And I understand why that was done, and I appreciate it holding up that particular vanguard; max//vid has no place in dad//vid, and vice versa.
But the problem with dad//vid being set up as the not-max//vid is that everything that isn’t dad//vid is suddenly viewed as “max//vid-lite.” Even when that makes literally zero sense.
See, even when I was briefly into dad//vid in its very literal “David adopts Max from Max’s evil parents” form, what I was really drawn to was the idea of David being Max’s older brother. Back when the fandom was like 100 fics on AO3, I had started planning out this long plot involving David taking on a brotherly role to this kid I thought really needed one. Admittedly I’m just a sucker for sibling relationships, but from the beginning I’ve been all about this brotherly bond, and so when a popular artist came up with the term “bro//vid” and it started gaining traction, I was all over that noise. There was finally a version of this relationship that wasn’t either “Max and David fucking” or “David literally adopts Max and becomes his literal father,” and I couldn’t be more excited.
And then … I found out that apparently “bro//vid” was becoming synonymous with “max//vid but secretly.” And … man, it really sucked to suddenly be treated like I was supporting pedophilia because I didn’t like the idea of David-adopts-Max as much as the whole big brother thing. I can’t even imagine how much it must suck if your favorite iteration of Max and David is something along the lines of mentor/friendship, without some sort of buffer of “well they’re basically (or literally) related.” Because if “these two as brothers” is max//vid-lite, then I can’t fucking imagine what that would be called.
And even when it’s not specifically about max//vid, it just keeps cropping up. I posted about the Season 4 premiere and expressed how much I saw a cute, brotherly relationship between David and Max, and someone immediately replied saying that they thought it was more like father-son. Which … yeah, fine, I don’t care if you see it like father-son, go nuts, but I am getting really sick of the fact that father-son is the only acceptable “ship” and everything must lean in that direction, no exceptions. (I know, it’s not a ship technically, but I don’t know what else to call it. Don’t read anything weird into me calling it that.)
I don’t think “please just let me enjoy these two and their relationship dynamic without making it pedophilia or insisting David adopt Max from his terrible evil parents” is that tough an ask.
Or at least, it really shouldn’t be. But somehow it … kind of is.
And that sucks.
(Also, I hate the whole “Max is David’s favorite camper” thing. It’s not technically tied to dad//vid, but it does often come hand-in-hand with that and it just irks me to no end. If David has such blatant favorites, he is terrible at his job and kind of a douchebag. I think he gravitates towards the camper(s) who need attention the most, because he likes feeling like he’s made a difference, but I don’t think David would just straight-up pick a favorite like that, not when he has a full camp of kids who need him. Just saying.)

omg hi, i love your blog and i was just curious about what ships you have for clem, and who you don't want to ship her with? would you have any reasons why you /do/ or /don't/ ship her with someone?
Omgggg hi nonnie!! I love you right back! We can be friends! I’m really glad that you like my blog and my interpretation of Clementine, I’ve honestly been doubting myself a lot recently and so I’m really glad that you voiced your praise, it really makes mine (and Clem’s) day a lot better! As for your question, I actually ship Clementine with pretty much almost everyone in her age group, if I’m really being honest, and all of these ships I can see the characters involved either as lovers, as really good friends, a siblingesque bond or as professional partners; I’m very open minded. If you want me to be more specific, here’s a more detailed list:
Louis/Clementine (Louisentine)
Violet/Clementine (Violetine)
Marlon/Clementine (Marlontine) - ah, yes, my guilty pleasure ship.
Mitch/Clementine (Mitchentine)
Gabe/Clementine (Gabentine) although admittedly, it’s not my favorite or any of my top ships for Clem, but it’s still pretty cute in it’s own way.
Aasim/Clementine (Aasimentine)
Ruby/Clementine (Rubytine)
Brody/Clementine (Brodytine)
Sophie/Clementine (Sophietine) with @stillgcod‘s Sophie who portrays a very little known character with no lines at all spectacularly well so I totally recommend checking them out! I have to explain this one in a bit more detail because in canon they’ve literally never even met, but basically what happens is that Clementine and James help save Sophie who’s survived being a slave to the Delta, and when the remaining survivors make it past The Final Season, Clementine, James and Sophie become really, really good friends (they even share a room together, with Sophie on the bunk above Clem’s and James on the bunk above AJ’s) and eventually Sophie starts to fall in love with Clementine and eventually Clementine starts falling for her in turn. I just think Clem would be naturally drawn to her sweet and imaginative personality and be infatuated with her artistic ability that Tenn described her as. I honestly think that Sophie and Clementine’s relationship, out of all the ships that I have with Clem, is the most softest and fluffy of them all without any angst or drama in between them, and I find that to be really sweet.
Now, as for what I DON’T ship with Clementine, it’s the obvious incest ships (not that Clementine has any living relatives to begin with anyway but the point still stands) and anything that has an underage Clementine with a character above or below her age group. Oh, and James/Clementine, even though I used to hardcore ship it, but I don’t anymore because James is obviously homosexual and he’s still hooked up on Charlie and  I don’t really like the idea of erasing someone’s sexuality and identity over a ship. Albeit, it still kiiiiinda sucks because two of the greatest fics in my opinion that I wrote were actually James/Clementine fics before I knew that he was gay and now I look like a giant dumbass looking back on it because James doesn’t swing towards girls LMAOOOOO
I just have a thing for really complex fluffy and/or tragic and doomed ships.
I go in depth on why I ship Louis/Clementine, Violet/Clementine, Marlon/Clementine and Mitch/Clementine in this post, but I’ll be making a “Why I Ship” series of the pairings that I ship in the series, and the ships I mentioned above will be on the list, but with a lot more depth and details, with screenshots and essays galore, so if you’re interested, please stay tuned for that one! I have a lot of metas coming up soon!
To conclude, for me, a ship has to have the makings of mutual acknowledgment, growth, respect, and positive interaction, whether it’s crack or canon. Mutual acknowledgement and respect is something that makes me ship characters like it’s going out of style. It’s present in everything I ship, and it’s lacking in ships I could never really see myself liking. There are many characters that have little or no meaningful canon interaction but who, I feel, would have a strong connection given the right AU twist of events or circumstance. I like the idea of putting characters together and seeing what happens, what could have been. I think any pairing, any group of characters, and any outcome is possible if the author takes the time to get to know the characters and what they believe. I’m not saying this is possible for every single character ever (Luke/S2!Clementine for example - sorry I had to bring that up - because that’s just asinine no matter how you look at it), but if you can ask yourself, “What if Clementine had never left Howe’s and became Carver’s protegee back in Season 2? What if Lee had lived through the events of Season 1? What if Clementine became a Whisperer? What if Marlon, Mitch or Brody never died? What if Clementine became a Delta soldier? What if Omid and Christa’s child survived and Clementine had to raise that child alongside AJ? What if Clementine had a tiger for a pet? What if Clementine became Headmistress of Ericson’s Boarding School For Troubled Youth after the events of The Final Season and began making it an actual school for survivors in the apocalypse?” These questions are always the jumping-off point for me, and then the rest is just sitting back and watching what happens. I really enjoy that part the most, and it’s why I like writing. Canon is nice to have, but I don’t consider it necessary to make a good story.

That interview-Maybe it could be interpreted differently if that makes sense? maybe he meant stupid edges sarcastically or that Scott can just get them while still portraying a character? Idk, I just feel like there could be a lot missing, esp tone wise. I initially thought he was saying it as a jokey way. Charlie part was interesting-maybe he was sincere(the training) since it’s been years and he and since Tanith has said that T/S are the GOATS repeatedly that he accepts it now??? Lmao
It’s true, I don’t speak Russian, I haven’t heard the interview to hear the tone of voice, he could have been laughing when he said it, or maybe using air quotes, or whathaveyou, I just find it a little flippant in context (the context there is, and admittedly I don’t have all of it), that’s all. Charlie has said that when they practice new footwork it looks like they’ve been doing it for years, it could have been said in that way. I just don’t like the context again, saying that they almost don’t need to train is a kiiiiinda disrespectful of the dedicated and hardworking athletes vm are
like you think they skipped world team trophy just because they didn’t want to go? naaaaahh they had to train for the olys

🔥 + duplicate muse theft
  ❯ 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗘 –– Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion. Bonus points if you include a topic. ( IE. shipping, roleplaying, ect. )   ❯ 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗟𝗬 ––【 ✔︎ 】𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚   ⟫ 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 –– thuglife-face ( anon )
Tumblr media
Okay, so this is probably the moment I lose a shit load of followers, but honestly, if anyone unfollows because they don’t like that /I/ don’t like being STOLEN from? Kay…Don’t let the door cut your dick off on the way out. but here’s my deal. THIS SHIT HAS GOT TO FUCKING STOP.
(also, when I say “you” in this opinion, I’m referring to “in-general” this isn’t towards YOU anon, lawl. Also, I don’t want to confuse anyone - I always respect my duplicates. They are ABSOLUTE sweethearts. I love seeing the many different takes on her. The duplicates NEVER bother me. BABY. I will give you the links to ALL my main babies! I’ll hook you up! We’ll chit chat about each others Sigyns, fangirl over her, etc. Its when a duplicate STEALS from me. Ie: my headcanons, my personal writings, etc. Is when I get upset. )
One, other people who have the same muses as others, are already anxious enough as it is about duplicates. Two, it’s simply disrespectful.
I just wanna make sure that I state that I’m not pointing at people that probably do this unintentionally (that happens too. I’ve done something, thinking “holy shit, this is such a good idea!” only to find out that I wasn’t the ooonly one that thought of it. Sucks, but it happens.). I also don’t mean people that simply…take inspiration from others portrayals. You can tell when its “inspired” and when its complete
I’m looking at people that think its okay to see other duplicates writing of their muse, and copy that entire portrayal. I’m not saying your character can’t be quirky or whatever, I’m talking about those completely taking the entire PORTRAYAL. The mannerisms, the thought processes of that other parties character, the very reactions. Not just the traits themselves…but copying the character. KNOWINGLY.
In the past month, I’ve had someone LITERALLY copy a reply I made. Not the style, but the overall…REPLY of THAT specific reply. Copied Sigyn’s dislike for something and EVEN her EXACT reaction to it and simply…reworded it and hoped I wouldn’t catch on. Or thought that: hey, its not TEEECHnically stealing if I reword it, right? But here’s the thing: One, I can KIIIIINDA. FUCKING. READ. And two, I’m not retarded. Also, if you take someone’s idea and reword it, but its the SAME fucking idea and literally has no change to it? It’s called STEALING. I even had another HC stolen from her, shortly after I made this page because the person thought: oh, it was on their previous page and they deleted it; they don’t have it still. WRONG BITCH. Just because it was on a previous page, doesn’t make it any LESS mine.
Anyways, here’s the thing too: When you are RPing a canon muse, sometimes it is easy to accidentally steal things. But those people, you can give some slack because if you look closely enough…You can tell that they didn’t mean to. Those people, I don’t worry about.
I can always tell by something: passion and the fact that they fail. When you portray a character, its because you can hear their voice in your head. You know their dialogue, their favorite song…they’re literally, like REAL people you know every day. When someone is stealing from you…its this…dispassionate attachment to their character. They’re not portraying them the way THEY imagine them, they’re portraying them the way THAT person is and you can always tell. And when you see someone stealing it? They are failing so miserably, its almost laughable and that’s because they thought in the moment: hey, its okay, no one will notice.
Alright, for a conclusion: This stuff seriously needs to stop. It’s disrespectful, it kills other peoples muses (it did mine for a while), and then as well? It simply looks bad on you as a writer. Don’t steal peoples shit. If you can’t hear your character, the same way your duplicate can hear them, to the point you must STEAL from them? The character is SIMPLY not for you. It doesn’t matter how many face claims you change them to, it doesn’t matter how differently you make your profile and it doesn’t matter how “badass” you try to make your character sound. The voice has GOT to be there. And its NOT fair to other people for them to be stolen from.
Also, I am NOT trying to overpower other Sigyns, NO. There is NO perfect Sigyn out there, there’s only OUR Sigyns, who we all specifically love. I love my duplicates because they all tackle Sigyn in SO many ways and for a character like Sigyn, who is SO skeletal, its so amazing seeing her brought to life in so many ways and in so many interpretations. It’s FASCINATING. /I/ just don’t like being /stolen/ from. If your Sigyn is inspired by mine, THAT IS THE BIGGEST COMPLIMENT EVER. I’m not saying that THAT’S not allowed either. We all get our images of our characters in different ways. Even other writers, on here! I mean, SPECIFICALLY, the ones that STEAL. It’s not fair to me, and its not fair to the other people they steal from.
I’m not trying to sound arrogant. I DONE IT. I’ve taken on characters (Loki, Bucky, Steve) they’re simply…NOT for me. I have their muse, but their voice isn’t there because THEY don’t WANT me writing for them.
For me, I don’t go off of Wikipedia–even if I did, there’s still NOTHING for me to base Sigyn off of, other than my own interpretation of her from the comics and the mythology–There’s sadly NOTHING on her.
My headcanons do not come from anything but my own head and inspirations. They are all written from SCRATCH or things I find in my writings as I write as Sigyn…They take me WEEKS, MONTHS to hammer out. So, how fair is it that some dipshit benefits for my weeks, months and even YEARS (I’ve written Sigyn…FOR YEARS.) of WORK for absolutely ZERO seconds. To put this in perspective:
Me: -spends fourteen hours writing a single writing piece of Sigyn, paying careful attention to what she’s saying, marking down the headcanons; -spends ANOTHER three hours researching specific terms that were used to cross-reference for accuracy and even get MORE facts- -researches THOSE facts for another 2 hours;
Thief: -sees the writing on my page, replies, drabbles etc and spends fifteen minutes reading them; -STEALS THE HEADCANONS OUT OF THEM IN TWO SECONDS;
See where I’m getting at?
I’m not trying to trademark “quirky” characters. You can have a quirky character, whatever the hell you want. I’m talking about MY Sigyn. She’s distinctive and she stands out for many in my writings with others, based on their compliments/complaints. You KNOW my Sigyn and you DAMN well better know that /I/ know her, and know when I’ve been stolen from.

Twofold question. 1. Do you think Gon doubts how much Killua cares now? We know of course that he still does but I wonder if Gon was able to take the "second place" comment as a joke or if it hit home. 2. Do you think Killua will feel awkward re-approaching Gon in the future? I doubt he sees leaving as a "bad" thing but do you think he'd worry about Gon being upset with him for leaving?
“Heyo!
That’s hard to say, but i’d say it’s not that much of a clear cut.
But - if I was to say imo, “leaving” doesn’t mean not caring. It’s just “oh ye, everyone ends up leaving.”
I think when Gon tells Killua in Greed Island that he’s so glad Killua is around, it’s because aside from Mito and his grandmother, he never had people sticking around. And it’s not a case of them not caring for him. Without being a lot around Leorio and Kurapika Gon doesn’t doubt they care for him too in a way. But no one stuck around the way Killua did, without any obligation to do so.
I don’t think he would think “so maybe he doesn’t care anymore” but more “well, it was doomed to happen. No one stays.”
I have a nuance for that tbh, I think considering gon’s background, it could be more “fatalist” to just believe, well, it was to happen.
As Gon left Killua, he told him that Kite said “Where ever we are, we are always going to be friend”, to which Killua replies “You got it!”. It could be them reassuring each other that they still care for each other, so i can understand interpretting it as if gon was doubting it - but I think he’s more just reassuring that whatever happens, they’ll stay friend.
I really wouldn’t say Gon doubt that Killua cares. He has a lot of guilt and would probably more think to himself that he shouldn’t stay around Killua after hurting him, but I don’t really manage to interpret it as Gon thinking maybe Killua doesn’t care as much now.
Gon is  a really understanding person. I think it’s already something big to him that Killua stayed that long with him.
If he has slight doubts, I don’t think it would be…. too much imo? I think his own self loathing and guilt would be bigger than his doubt of Killua not caring for him anymore. He would blame it on himself, saying he hurt Killua, rather than on Killua “not caring” anymore.
(also even if he did it in a… kinda rude way, Killua did repeat to Gon that Gon ruined his mood by telling him fighting Pitou alone was none of his business, and I think as much as Killua kiiiiinda put salt in the wound, it’s still a reminder that Killua wants to be involved with Gon, even for Gon himself.)
As for Killua, I truly don’t know. It could be a little awkward but I think it wouldn’t be something that would be overbearing for them. I could see him, on the very, very long run, think maybe that “maybe Gon believes I gave up on him”, but i don’t really think so.
Even if they have communication problems, they always sort of understood each other. Killua feared Gon doing everything alone as Gon went up to Pitou saying “Let’s go” and Killua knew already that Gon was excluding him, before Gon voiced it. Gon had seen through a lot of Killua’s awkwardness and had been able to say the exact words Killua needed to hear without Killua to actually show a lot about it (like when they were under the stars).
I believe that their bound is as such that they get each other. For now they have that pain to heal, this time to take for each other, but I don’t think there’s a major missunderstanding.
At really worse, I think Gon wouldn’t have forgiven himself completely for what happened in the CA arc, Killua could be a little awkward and petty but nothing too much, and they would both need some time before settling a conversation.
But I don’t know… I truly believe they value each other too much on that regard.
But then i really can’t be sure, we hadn’t seen enough of both of them since they parted and it’s not exactly the kind of things I can be sure about because it’s such a perticular thing that happened in both of their lives, it’s not that easy to predict in opposition to others events.
So take my word with a grain of salt ;O
Take care!!
