Long story short, my old lady Athena went in for surgery to remove a suspected cancerous mass in her mouth and instead they found...

A small piece of headphone cable embedded into her jaw.

She has 3 teeth and she managed to pull this off. This is the only time I've heard a vet say "I've never seen anything like this before" and it be a good thing.

Let's give it up for my invincible old lady 🙌

one of the weird things about life expectancies in warrior cats stretching out as the series goes on is that lionblaze is 8 years old with adult grandchildren and showing no signs of age or even retiring, while yellowfang was depicted as old af when she died at the age of 8.

Looks like the birthday boy got crystals for his birthday. He didn't eat last night, had to be coaxed to eat what little he did this morning, and his abdomen is tense with a large bladder. And of course it's a fucking holiday weekend, which means emergency vet.

hi everyone, i'm in need of some help. i hate asking others for anything, but this is different. as it concerns my babygirl of 13 years, apple. this cat has been with me thru everything. my parent's divorce, horrendous bullying throughout junior high, a couple breakups, a svicide attempt, loss, and much more. she is my rock and i wouldn't be here today without her. she got diagnosed with "kidney failure" by a vet on friday, and they swarmed my boyfriend in the clinic and urged us to put her down. that she wouldn't make it a week. i wanted some more time with her, so i took her home that day. when we got home, i started to panic because i was scared she was suffering, and got my boyfriend to contact his family vet to put her down that same day instead. to spare her from suffering. however, as we were in the patient room, about to sedate her to put her down, the doctor came in and looked at the bloodwork we received from the other vet. he immediately stopped the euthanasia-procedure and explained to me that she was not in kidney failure. that she was about in stage 2 of chronic kidney disease, and that she did not need to be put down. apparently some vets refuse to help cats with CKD and insist that there is no hope and that they should be put down upon diagnosis. but he didn't want to do that. so now here we are, she's back home with me and being just-about her usual self. however, CKD is common in senior cats and apple has it. it cannot be cured, and it is terminal, but cats with CKD can live happy, normal lives if they are given treatment and special care. (i've done lots of reading since thursday-friday.) of course though, vet bills and special food for apple is going to be expensive. so i would like to ask, if you can afford to commission me, or if you would like to donate at all, please check out my ko-fi. it would mean the absolute world to me, my boyfriend, my family, and apple. thank you so very much for reading ♥. please don't feel obligated to do anything, just keep her in your thoughts for me.

Foster kitten woes is that Mama Misty got an eye infection, which she passed to all four of her babies, which got passed to now three of our cats.

I've never had something happen like this before. We've had eye infections and ear infections in the house, and of course there's a risk of contagion depending on the type of infection, but it's never happened to this degree before. The worst I've seen before this is when Tabby and Darjeeling (sisters) got the same ear infection. There are eight cats in the house with an active eye infection.*

*Perhaps I should say seven, because Mama Misty seems fully healed by now. The kittens are ALMOST better; just a bit of occasional crustiness.

And it's a stubborn little infection. Misty's took two weeks of eye drops to entirely clear up. We've been using the leftover eye drops the shelter vet gave us on our own cats, which... I don't really feel bad about because the infection came from a foster. However, I think for Ritz, our old man with FIV, we will get him something from our vet. He goes in on Tuesday for an echocardiogram, so we'll have him looked at then. His just popped up Saturday night.
