I do not know if he intended to share it with me, but our 11-yo shared a Google Slides deck titled 'The New Chat Room' that is approximately 500 slides long, where each slide is students in his class posting pop culture pictures &/or memes & using the Slides comments to chat with each other about them -- I knew that students used this kind of hack to get around school content filters but seeing it in action is something else.

Last night the 11yo broke down the Google Slides middle school Chatroom for me:

1. At first they used a Google doc but the infinite scroll was too chaotic 2. In the slide deck each new slide is one "post" -- some all text, some images, some both -- 3. They use slides' comments feature to "reply" to each other's "posts" 4. This allows participants to easily flip between posts using the slide thumbnail navigation, so they can find the conversations they care about easily 5. He owns the file & if anyone spams it, deletes other people's posts, or gets nasty, he can revert the file to its previous save state & remove spammer's access 6. He did share it with me on purpose, I think because he was proud & wanted me to see what he'd made

Essentially they've created a chatroom with moderation in Google Slides, so they can get around the school's ban on platforms like Discord. It's kind of brilliant

the difference between Ukrainain and Russian to me is like British and American.

British is considered posh, but also they 'talk funny' and say stuff like bo'oh o wo'ah. Kinda like ukrainain (except we dont say bo'oh o wo'ah), to me ukrainain sounds more posh than russian, and I've heard people say ukrainain sounds funny (most of those ppl were Russian tho)

American is considered more proper? It's the most common accent used in TV shows and what not iirc. And it sounds more casual (to me). The vowels feel more harsh. Kinda like Russian. i grew up watching movies dubbed in russian, so I'm more used to hearing it on the tv screen like many ppl are used to hearing american. Also our families reasoning for pirating rus dubbed films is because they sounded funnier/the jokes were funnier (plus there werent many ukr dubbed movies)

Im just saying this bc in my family we speak a weird ukrainain Russian and some random English words and gibberish type creole.

Ig its just sorta what happened with my immigrant family

Kid Galahad: to watch boyf training his morning boxing session (now he only does it for exercise purposes) 🥊

so grateful to my moms cousins daughter for marrying someone who isn't jewish & being very open and unashamed of it so that everyone has to be normal abt it too while she's still very religious & doesn't have anything against judaism bc in general that slays but also every time she's over i get to be like hah ha ha mother i bet you are so glad im just a lesbian dating a jewish girl who will only marry a jew you better be so grateful bc you could have ended up like your cousin. i bet you're saying thank God for my lesbian kid i hope she marries her jewish girlfriend please!!!!
