March 2023 "That Girl" Challenge
Helloooo :)
This is the 31-Day Challenge that I've created for us to do together this month. It's just something simple and fun. Enjoy! - BlissfullyEcho
——————————————-
DAY 1: Deep clean your living space (bedroom, apartment, house, condo, camper, etc)
DAY 2: Deep clean your car (if you don't have a car, deep clean something else that you haven't done but should do: junk drawer, dresser, yoga mat, makeup brushes, etc)
DAY 3: Try a new (healthy!) recipe-- this could even be a healthy dessert or beverage
DAY 4: Try a guided meditation on YouTube for 10 minutes after waking up and before checking social media
DAY 5: Spend an extra 15 minutes working on something for school, work, hobbies, or your own personal development
DAY 6: Unfollow, delete, and block social media accounts and phone contacts that are just not part of your life anymore (or those who you plan on not having as a part of your life anymore)
DAY 7: Delete social media pictures that don't fit in with the best version of you. This could be the overedited photos, the thirst trap you put on there because that one person made you upset, etc.
DAY 8: Try a new workout that you haven't done. Pilates, ballet, barre, tennis, CrossFit, kickboxing, F45, cycling, running, swimming, etc.
DAY 9: Pamper your pet. Brush, clean, trim their nails, give them treats, etc. Go above and beyond for them today. (If you don't have animals, pamper yourself today!)
DAY 10: Enjoy the sunshine. Go outside (wear your sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat) for 15-20 minutes and enjoy your own company and nature.
DAY 11: No phone 30 minutes before bed. Set your bedtime tonight, and set an alarm 30 minutes prior to that. Once your alarm goes off, put your phone on DND and read a book before bed. Read until you are tired enough to turn off your lights and sleep.
DAY 12: Watch a documentary about something and learn! Maybe it's something you've never had an interest in. Just please make it positive! No heartbreaking or tragic documentaries. Let's not invite that into our "That Girl" challenge.
DAY 13: Buy a self-care item. This could be a yoga mat, face mask, cleansing oil, the Bible, perfume, etc. It can be as expensive or inexpensive as you'd like.
DAY 14: Go out on a date with yourself. Take yourself out to do something you've never done/been to before.
DAY 15: Aim to drink at least 60oz. of pure water today.
DAY 16: Spend 30 minutes learning a language you've always wanted to learn (and if you love it, practice for 10 minutes a day afterward)
DAY 17: Turn your notifications off.
DAY 18: No social media today.
DAY 19: Do something creative today. Buy a canvas, paint, and a brush, and follow a Bob Ross tutorial; maybe buy a jewelry-making kit. Take today and be creative for at least 30 minutes.
DAY 20: 10,000 steps OR walk for an hour
DAY 21: Go through your finances and see where you can budget. Take this time to audit your subscriptions and see if you would like to cancel any recurring subscriptions to save you extra money each month.
DAY 22: Avoid eating animal products today. Just focus on whole grains, fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, water, and vitamins.
DAY 23: Schedule any doctor appointments you might have. If you don't have to, then take today to create a to-do list for the next 3 days.
DAY 24: Spend some time deleting pictures and making storage space in your phone. Any way you can-- it doesn't have to be from deleting your photos.
DAY 25: Listen to a new podcast or TedTalk.
DAY 26: Check your credit report/score and see if there's anything you need to do/complete.
DAY 27: Clear your email inbox and unsubscribe from the companies you don't shop from anymore.
DAY 28: Touch up on your resume.
DAY 29: Sort through your closet and throw away, donate, and sell your clothes and shoes that you don't wear (and that you know you'll never wear again)
DAY 30: Sort through your bathroom drawers and cabinets and organize them.
DAY 31: Create a vision board for April.

More rambling about Wild Kratts Game Lore bc I can
On today's episode of "shit about the flash games that I am probably the only person alive to care to notice," let's look at a certain pattern in the tutorials that, whilst it may seem minor, may actually reflect something about the overall website (and if you have no clue what the f*ck I'm talking about, feel free to stay, it's so much funnier that way)
Ok so let's look at the first wave of flash games made by Chocolate Liberation Font (the dev-team behind them). In the tutorials of these games, (i.e. Cheetah Racer, Ride on Remora, Caracal Leap, Draco Glide, Kickboxing Kangaroo, ect), one of the Kratt Brothers would introduce the animal and objective before activating their Creature Powers. When they do so, we see a close-up of their shirt (oddly enough without the suit or gloves??), and we see the buttons on the Creature Power Suit with the Creature Disc insignia in the same color as the suit itself.
Some image examples as Exhibit A.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You get the picture.
Now let's move on to the games that were added to the website in 2012 by Pixelpusher; Flower Flier, (R.I.P.) Croc Hatch, Frogfish Feast, Aardvark Town, and Web-tastic!; The Wild Kratts Creature Math Suite that collectively made up a quintilogy game, Creature Roundup. These games features new animals and new Creature Powers, 3/5 of which were featured in Season 2 of Wild Kratts which had recently premiered on PBS Kids at the time. Like before, the Kratt Brothers introduce the creature, the objective and Activate Creature Powers. However, here is one difference;
When the screen zooms in on the Creature Power Suit post-activation, we can see the physical Creature Power Disc itself over where the PowerSuit button/creature insignia would be. Regardless of the disc's color, it would show up. As shown below in Exhibit B.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quite the difference eh?
But wait, it gets even more fun.
In 2013, two games, Dolphin Dive, and Slither Run, also done by Pixelpusher, are released. They're not affiliated with the Math Suite, but are in the same league as them. In the tutorials where the brothers activate their Creature Power Suits, you realize that, just like in the games developed by Chocolate Liberation Font, the close-ups of the buttons don't have any overlays of the disc (using Slither Run here because Dolphin Dive wasn't a good enough example)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put a pin in this, because this becomes relevant later.
Let's redirect ourselves to the habitats. You probably remember exploring the habitats, finding and learning about different animals, unlocking photos, and adventuring with the Creature Powers earned from the games. The site was updated to include some new habitats and Creature Powers, but let's exactly look into the details of that, shall we?
Tumblr media
Here are the available Creature Powers to use in the habitats to unlock the photos for your adventure journal in the character creator page, Your Room. Rattlesnake Power, Draco Lizard Power, Cheetah Power, Kangaroo Power, Caracal Power, Squirrel Power, Firefly Power, Dolphin Power, and Remora Power.
Now, you may notice that the Creature Power Suits from the Math Suites (Hummingbird Power, Crocodile Power, Frogfish Power, Aardvark Power, and Spider Power) are missing here. In fact, they're not in any way able to use in the habitats. They (along with Dolphin Power and Rattlesnake Power) are also absent amonst the assortment of Creature Powers to use in the supergame, Habitat Rescue Game.
This is where I pull stuff out of my ass cause I'm fcking crazy everything comes together.
Notice how the only Creature Powers that aren't available to use in the habitats are Creature Powers that the brothers use in the games where the physical discs are displayed on the buttons. The only ones available to play are ones where the button is visible when the brothers activate that particular Creature Power.
Conversely, none of the Creature Power Suits from games developed by Chocolate Liberation Font have PowerSuit photos that the user can take with a camera once they complete Level 5. Only the games added by Pixelpusher (this includes the Math Suite, Dolphin Dive, and Slither Run) are, and 5/7 of those games are where the physical disc is placed over the button. Slither Run and Dolphin Dive are anomalies from this pattern, but the majority rules (especially since they were added in post after the Math Suite).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But wait. It gets even deeper.
You know how I said in the assortment of games where the physical discs are present in the tutorials, Dolphin Dive, and Slither Run are anomalies in terms of games that had unlockable photos in levels? You know what pattern they aren't anomalies of?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, the Habitat Rescue Game at the beginning of this post wasn't just bc the game is fucking peak (based on a show that's fucking peak). None of the 7 Creature Powers from Pixelpusher's update to the website appear in the supergame Habitat Rescue. Not a single. One. And none of the Creature Powers available in Habitat Rescue are from games where you can unlock a photo in the site from directly finishing Level 5.
In case this has been way too complex, let me break it down *Activates Lawe's Parotia Power*
Creature Power Discs earned from games where the physical disc is not shown on the Power Suits after the activation in the tutorial are available in Your Room and the habitats.
Creature Power Discs earned from games in which the physical disc is visible over the Power Suit button in the tutorials are available in Your Room, but NOT in the habitats or Habitat Rescue Game.
Creature Power Discs earned from games in which you must complete Level 5 to earn the PowerSuit Photo and Badge, regardless if they physically appear on the Creature Power Suit in the tutorial, do not appear in the supergame.
None of the games that show the physical button of the suit have collectible photos from directly playing Level 5, BUT all of them that do are available to access in Your Room, the habitats, and Habitat Rescue Game.
CONCLUSION: Whilst there are many anomalies and errors in the structures or patterns of the original flash version of the online Wild Kratts website (I'm sure many of you noticed the duplicate Martins in the Aardvark Town tutorial Jesus Christ), some of these inconsistencies have consistencies in their inconsistencies, even if it wasn't the developers' intention. With this, you could logistify several appearances or absences of certain Power Discs in certain games or pages. And to those of you, who like me, grew up with the flash games and were confused as to why you couldn't access all 14 Creature Powers in the habitats or in Habitat Rescue, hopefully this observation could provide good enough answers and closer after a decade.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

So I came up with the beginnings of an idea for an SMG4 fangame that I am never ever ever going to be able to make because I have no programming skills whatsoever.
The story starts with Boopkins showing up at the castle with a new manga that he bought from Wizard Rock who claimed it was enchanted. Some of the crew is interested, but Bob, Meggy and Saiko are pretty sure he got scammed and Mario doesn't really care because he's too busy seducing a plate of spaghetti. They read through the start, which is mostly just an introduction to the setting and villain (which I haven't come up with yet), but when they get to where the main plot would start it shows...Boopkins coming to the castle with his new manga, and blank spaces where the panels past the point in time where they are now.
Then the manga glows and sucks in SMG4, Mario, Meggy, Bob and Boopkins, landing in a grassy field in chibi 2D forms, and in Boopkins' case as a round floating fish with no legs, they get their bearings and see a fancy tower nearby just past a tutorial-y platforming section, and gameplay starts.
It'd be a four player Metroidvania (this is the point where I admit that I came up with this while watching a walkthrough of Disney Illusion Island) in some kind of fantasy setting. The four playable characters are functionally identical with unique animations, so for example their basic attack involves Mario doing his standard punch-punch-kick, Bob slashing with his swords, Meggy doing kickboxing moves, and 4 wildly flailing a keyboard in front of him. Boopkins floats around with them since he's the Exposition Fairy and he holds onto whoever gets knocked out until the group reaches the next checkpoint, or takes them back to the last one if they're all knocked out.
The tower they're headed towards is owned by a local wizard who was Wizard Rock's roommate in Magic College and asked for his help in summoning a team of heroes who could save the realm. The group obviously agrees (somewhat reluctantly in Mario and Bob's case) or else we wouldn't have a story, and he kits them out with their first upgrade; Projectile weapons. Mario gets special gloves that let him shoot fireballs without a Fire Flower, Meggy gets a magic crossbow that never runs out of bolts, SMG4 gets a wand that lets him conjure small objects formed from his imagination (memes. he's yeeting memes out of a stick), and Bob gets...a small cannon that he can shoot Boopkins out of. Don't worry about Boopkins, the same spell that brought them here and turned him into a little flying fish also made him indestructible. He's still useless in a fight unless Bob is using him as a projectile though.
Also, when the characters get knocked out they turn into little tokens until they're revived at a checkpoint, which is how Boopkins is carrying them around. They look like that high quality Beeg SMG4 in the new "SMG4 Crew" logo, except Bob's is triangular instead of round to fit the poncho look of his robes.
And that's all I got so far.

Time was ticking as a certain karate assistant teacher’s birthday was coming to a close.
A package landed on the front steps of Ryūnosuke Sekiguchi’s home. There was no telling what it was, save for his information printed on a sticker that was plastered to the side of the package. Somewhat surprised upon receiving yet another gift, he brought it inside.
Inside was a desktop lightbox with intricate artwork carved into it.
Tumblr media
Nesting alongside the lightbox was a small poster card. Short messages and autographs filled the poster card, but smack in the center of the card was a longer message, written in incredibly neat handwriting.
“Hey there, my fellow fighter!
I mean, kind of? You do martial arts, I do kickboxing… not the same but whatever. You’ve been an entertaining one on my trips to Naha, and! I was told it was your birthday today! Thought I’d send something, but I wasn’t really sure what kind of stuff you’d like… hope this will do! Enjoy becoming one year older, dude!
— Reiaki Suzubayashi from Minato Division
P.S: heard you’re a fan of hero movies! Well you’re in luck! I worked on set for some of those hero movies, so I got the cast members to sign their autographs here just for you!”
He opens the box and found it was a desktop lightbox and a post card beside it. He read the post card that was written by Reiaki from Minato and decided to test it. He takes out the lightbox, looking around it to see a in a different angle for a good view but most importantly trying to figure it out on how to use it. After he watch some tutorial videos and the only thing he can simply do was fetching a flashlight he could find in the toolbox at the storage room then place a flashlight our behind the carvings of Avengers to start to light up.
He tries to experiment by turning of the lights in his room and as he saw it, his eyes sparkled of how really awesome it looks right infront of him. The Avengers that he used to love since he was a kid felt like a nostalgia and probably he is still a big fan of Marvels even as an adult. He thought he can definitely use it as night light or maybe a display for his bedroom but either way he really loves the gift!
“Woah……this looks sick! there’s Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-man, Black Widow, my favorite two Wolverine & Black Panther, and every single heroes are in it! Haha! I can imagine Kyō would be pretty jealous have this cool lightbox of Avengers as my gift Hahaha!” He happily laughs and grateful for another gift that he never expect to get
Also he did remembered something along the way in the card about the autograph thing? so he checks the card again reading at the end of paragraph and it DID confirmed “wait…so she was able to get the casts to sign autographs just for my birthday sake?” he paused for a moment to process
“wow……I don’t know what to say about but all I know that was very thoughtful of her to go much length to give me their autographs. Damn…you almost got me there, Reiaki. I mean…she doesn’t have to do that for me but since it’s my birthday, I can let myself have this autograph for myself”
Regardless, he will very much use & cherish this lightbox gift for the rest of his life. He thought about wanting to thank her for the gift if ever he gets the time to visit Reiaki’s place in person.
“Hey…from what she said that she can do kickboxing huh? hmm……I’m wondering if she has time to have friendly brawl with me. Heh! as a assistant master, I kinda want to see how well she can use those boxing skills or even her kicks. This will be fun for both of us” he grins proudly of imaginimg which of both fighters will be K.O’d at the end

Theme sparring! If you aren't doing it, you should. We all have habits and theme sparring is one of the best ways to not only pick up on your bad habits, but force you into scenarios where you must use skills and techniques that might not be your preference. This makes you not only better offensively but defensively as well. This makes for a great combination of eye training and offense skill building. Check it out!

Monster Hunter Tri Diary, Part 10: The Great Jaggi and his gang
For previous entries, search for #monster hunter tri diary
Disclaimer: Text is paraphrased from my localization and might slightly deviate from the English version.
Quest: Big Game Hunting
Since this is our first big monster hunt, I went all out with my equipment: In addition to my normal potions, I also packed some mega potions, as well as some nutrients and mega nutrients. Since it's my best set at the moment, I donned my Hunter's armor again, which will also save me the trouble of paitballing the Great Jaggi thanks to Autotracker.
This time, I picked a meat + meat meal (both fresh, prep method steam). That seems to have tasted a lot better than the last time, giving me a health boost, the skills Felyne Medic, Felyne Groomer, and Felyne Kickboxer, plus Ultra Lucky Cat on top of that! Nice.
The client this time is the chief village guard (presumably of Moga), who is overwhelmed by the Great Jaggi's attacks and requests assistance. This is actually the first time I'm doing a quest that isn't just for someone's personal gain - protecting the village is important, after all.
Guild Sweetheart: "Blaargh! How was my battle cry? It's supposed to motivate you for a great hunt. Is it working?" Sounds very heroic, for sure. xD
Offering us her usual telepathic support, the Guild Sweetheart explains us that the Great Jaggi is considerably tougher than anything we've hunted so far, that he can direct his minion Jaggis to attack us, and that he'll flee when he's wounded so we have to track him with a paintball. I gotta say, Tri is way more generous with tutorials than the MHs who came before. People who started in 2nd, or hell, 1st gen, definitely had a way harder time. xD
"You're already missing the fishing quest, aren't you?" Ha, no worries! Unless I have to go fishing and get beat up at the same time (sincerely hateful greetings to you, Plesioth), I ain’t complaining.
They give me 5 first aid-meds this time. Guess that's the "first big monster bonus".
Since I got the Autotracker skill, I technically don't need the paintballs from the box, but I still took them to hoard them for later. Also, not sure if I'm ever gonna use it, but I took the Tainted Meat as well. (I'm not one to turn down free stuff if I get the chance. ;-) )
Anyway, off to area 6 where the Great Jaggi is hanging around (as displayed on my map). The music during the Great Jaggi's intro is actually a remix of his battle theme. Nice!
I always felt like the Great Jaggi’s cry sounds similar to some real-life animal, but unfortunately, I was never able to put my finger on it. In any case, I think it’s really cool. (It kind of reminds me of the velociraptors from Jurassic Park. xD)
Ah, the music there we gooooo!! I love the Great Jaggi’s theme - it's so catchy. Kinda makes me miss the time when even the small big monsters had awesome music.
Oh guys, you have no idea how much I missed this. It's been years since I last played 3U, but once I saw the familiar attack patterns, I almost immediately slipped back into my battle routine. Once you know it, you know it by heart! ;-)
I just realized: The Great Sword in Tri doesn't seem to have a charged draw attack? (Like hold attack when drawing and then immediately charge.) I never noticed that before, but I guess I had no reason to outside of serious combat situations... ^^'
Did the Great Jaggi's just hip check one of the Jaggia? Hey, that's no way to treat your girlfriend!
Oh, yeah - I completely forgot about the Autoblock skill from the talisman. Kinda saved my ass in one of the rare situations where I got hit and still had my weapon drawn.
And that's the head wounded for the subquest! Now his pretty frill looks like Swiss cheese. xD
And he runs off to area 5. Alright, I'm just gonna sharpen my wea-- Ouch! Would you stop biting me, Jaggi? Jeez, you can't even sharpen your weapons in peace...
I just remembered that I had a Simple Flashbomb from the supply box, so I thought I might as well use it. It wasn't the best throw though, so I only managed to blind the small Jaggis, but not the Great Jaggi. xD Well, at least they can't disturb me now.
And he's already limping. I let him escape, since it'll be easier to get him once he's sleeping. As a thank you, he dropped me a Wyvern Tear. Thanks for the extra money, Great Jaggi!
The moment the Great Jaggi went back to area 6, he pretty much fell asleep instantly (at least that's what I saw with Autotracker). Dude was so exhausted he just got home, plopped down at his favorite spot and dozed off. xD
Since I'm a really mean hunter, I couldn't resist the opportunity to strike him with a charged blow, now that I had ample time to do so. xD However, despite monsters taking more damage when they're asleep (as far as I know), it appears it wasn't quite enough to kill him.
The Great Jaggi doesn't give up that easily, immediately going into rage mode once I woke him. Well, I guess that's understandable given I disturbed his slumber in such a rude way. xD
I just stopped his hip check with a charged blow! xD Kinda gutsy, but I love when I manage to pull off stunts like this.
And down he goes! But yeah, hunting the small big monsters isn't that big of a deal if you've got experience. Really nothing against the time when started playing 4U and struggled against a Seltas, of all things. xD
Moga Village (day)
Guild Sweetheart: "Good job, that stuff with the Great Jaggi! Powerful blows, quick diving, impeccable assessment... Well... I'm only guessing. I didn't see it, of course!" Again: You were clearly talking to me through the power of telepathy, but you didn't see anything that was going on? Or am I just hallucinating, and the stuff with the voices of the Chief, the Chief's Son, and the Guild Sweetheart was all happening inside my own head? (That would be quite the big plot twist, actually.)
"For first-rate hunters, there's no shortage of impossible jobs!" No shit - defeating any Elder Dragon is essentially making the impossible possible. xD
"Was that Great Jaggi hard to kill?" Not really, no - but of course, the Guild has come up with an extra challenge for us: to capture a Great Jaggi. (Given that the small big monsters tend to die pretty quickly, this actually might not be that easy. xD)
"That stupid Guild! Destroying both hearts and hunters!" Given the absolute bullshit the games like to throw at you, I think a lot of MH players can attest to that. xD Still, quite brave of her to say that, as an employee of the Guild herself.
Even the "very comprehensive" monster guide has nothing to say about capturing - in fact, the Guild Sweetheart realizes that 90% of the pages are completely empty!
Even the "very comprehensive" monster guide has nothing to say about capturing - in fact, the Guild Sweetheart realizes that 90% of the pages are completely empty! "Oh, my bad. That's just a normal old notebook! From now on, I'll fill it with useful facts. The hard work of today becomes the wisdom of tomorrow!" I like that she doesn't sulk at all about it, though. You know, she could've complained like "What?! What kind of prank is this?", but nope - instead, she decides to turn it into something productive. Not dwelling on past disappointments and always staying practically-minded - that’s a real role model right there.
Yet another episode of MH food lore: According to the cook, even scholars are arguing whether Algae Jellyfish belong to the algae or jellyfish. I suppose that means Algae Jellyfish are creatures that look exactly like a clump of algae drifting through the water?
"Many don't want to eat Dry Butter. They think it's dried butter! Although it's just butter with a very dry sense of humor." Ah. I suppose I fell for that joke, then. xD
"Mossy Cheese is a daring fromage that coagulates through moss instead of mold! Chapeau to the genius of its creator! Pity that the taste leaves so much to be desired..." Interesting that someone found a completely novel way of coagulating cheese, though. I wonder how they discovered this - was it deliberate experimenting or just coincidence?
Village Chief: You've only been here for such a short time... and you've already slain the Great Jaggi! That damn monster and its pack caused so much grief..." Sounds like the Great Jaggi has been causing the villagers trouble for quite a long time. Also, this seems quite personal - did the Great Jaggi hurt someone the Chief was close to?
"You keep getting stronger... That's what anticipation smells like." You're talking about your own feelings, right? I guess the Chief is really looking forward to when I'll finally be able to face and slay the Lagiacrus.
The Chief also mentions that I've now unlocked the Great Jaggi during the Moga Woods free hunts. Nice! That means I can get some rare trading goods for the Argosy.
Since we've got our first capturing quest awaiting us, the Chief also gives us a briefing on how capturing works. However, he says that Gunners use tranquilizer bombs to tranquilize monsters. I'm pretty sure that there's tranq ammo though, so is this a mistake? (Since the tranq bombs are what I normally use as a Blademaster.)
"How you recognize if a monster is sufficiently weakened? Oh, you should rely on your experience and intuition for that!" Classic old MH here: "You wanna know how this works? Oh, just learn by doing." xD
The Village Chief actually provides an explanation why Gunner armors only have half the defense Blademaster armors have in the older games: Gunners store the ammunition they need in pouches attached to their armor; therefore, their armors are lighter and provide less protection (I suppose that's due to avoiding overweight, since the ammo bags are already pretty heavy by themselves).
So the Gossip Lady also tells us about tranquilizers (a "dead sure" method to capture monsters xD), and according to her, there is tranq ammo for Gunners. (I'm honestly wondering if the comment by the Chief is a mistranslation...)
"Have you ever seen a Jaggia that sits down and rests?" I did, yes - poor girl didn't even notice me coming from behind until I killed her sister. ^^'
Chief's Son: "I know it took you a lot of effort to take down that Great Jaggi, but..." *me desperately trying to keep a serious face and not burst out laughing because of how easy it actually was* I remember the Guildmarm from MH4U said you can't call yourself a real hunter unless you're able to kill a Great Jaggi with your small finger. Guess that makes me a real hunter, then. :-)
The Chief's Son explains that the reason more Great Jaggis are popping up in the Moga Woods is because many monsters were scared away by the recent earthquake and are slowly starting to come back now. I gotta say, I always appreciate if there's an in-lore explanation for the gameplay mechanics.
And we have another villager request, this time to improve the fields. Unfortunately, I don’t have any Super-sized Dung, so I’ll first need to get my hands on that. (If I remember correctly, you get it from the Aptonoth during Moga Woods hunts.)
It's the Chief's Son who actually explains to us that a monster limping signals it's capture-ready. Really appreciate that Capcom decided to mention this at all for newcomers playing Tri. (Though most people I've seen playing MH just skip through the "boring" NPC dialogue, so...)
The Moga Woods resource info for the Great Jaggi is actually kinda interesting: It says that the Chief's Son once rescued a child from a Great Jaggi. Given that the big brother of the siblings is often running around in the Moga Woods (he's the one who tells you about shortcuts) and encountered a big monster once (trying to run away from it), I wonder if that child was him. (It would also fit his personality, since he's generally the more reckless one of the two.)
Speaking of which, our "wise" big brother tells us a few things about trap tools he's "not allowed to play with". I can scarcely imagine why. xD
Little brother: "You'll get shocked if you touch a Thunder Bug with your bare hands." Fair enough since they are used to make Shock Traps, but how do you actually gather them? Do you always have to wear gloves if you catch a Thunder Bug?
"My brother once shoved me into a pitfall trap for fun. Horrible!" *sign* Big brother just can't leave you alone, can he? Though it's interesting that you can get trapped in a pitfall trap as a human, since your own pitfall traps (fortunately) never trigger if you stand on them. (I suppose the traps have some kind of smart "identification feature" that recognizes who placed them. xD)
Item seller: "Sushifish baits should NOT be used for sushi! Too much mercury!" Okay - do I have to worry about mercury in the Sushifish as well if I catch them with the bait? (Since, you know, they kind of eat it.)
Okay, now for business: I'm going to stock up on some stuff before the Argosy leaves again, since this will be the last chance to get it a little cheaper for some time. I bought some herbs, pickaxes, bugnets, trap tools, cool and hot drinks - really just about anything that's going to come in handy in the near future.
Unfortunately, I don't have enough materials to upgrade my Great Sword (I'm missing 2 Great Jaggi Claws), but I did unlock the rest of the Jaggi armor pieces now. Since that armor is not too expensive to make and has pretty good skills (Attack Up Small which you can easily upgrade to Attack Up Medium, Gourmand so I can get full stamina from just eating the rations, and Halve Stun), I’m going for it first.
Chamberlyne: "I'm not going to scratch your furniture items when rearranging them. But hairs can't be avoided!" Just cat problems, I suppose. xD
Alright, my plan looks as follows: First, we'll do the gathering quests in the Sandy Plains, and then I'll do another hunt in the Moga Woods since the forecast says there’s a Ludroth brood in the north and a herbivore brood in the south (Ludroth are always nice for the resource points and paddles, and I need the Super-sized Dung from the Aptonoth). So, till next time, when we'll explore the vast reaches of the desert! ;-)
To be continued
