LA’s a big city; it’s loud, it’s dirty, and it’s busy. Working in the industry you do, you don’t have a whole lot of calmness in your life, which is why you make it your personal mission to make your apartment as soft and cozy as possible.

You hold it up for him. It’s an older book, with frayed edges and a peeling vinyl cover, a grainy lighthouse on the front. He takes it when you offer it and flicks through it, careful not to disturb the bookmark. “I was gonna take it back to the library on Saturday and get a new one, but I can come over after that?”

Spencer shakes his head, only now just seeing the Los Angeles Public Library sticker on the back cover. “Can I come with you? Unless that’s like, something you wanna do by yourself or whatever? I didn’t know you went to the library.”

You take the book back and put it on your desk, out of the way. You and Spencer have wordlessly begun to split the wrap that you’d packed for lunch, something you’d made at home that made his mouth water. “Yeah, of course you can come. I go most weeks, I try to read a book every week but sometimes, y’know,” you gesture around the office.

That’s how Spencer finds himself on the steps of the LAPL for what he believes to be the first time. He’d been to libraries before, obviously, but not since leaving Florida, and not for a long time. He knows you like to read, there’s often a paperback in your hand or your purse or your car, it’s your quiet time activity. He just assumed you bought your own books, but getting to walk hand in hand with you through the stacks as you browse, he definitely sees the appeal. 

You find your new book of the week and hold it up to him gleefully, and you don’t even have to pull him along to the desk for him to follow you dutifully. Spencer would let you stay in there for hours, gazing lovingly over at you as you talk familiarly with the librarian. 

Eventually, you cut yourself off and excuse yourself to return to your boyfriend, knowing that his ideal weekend plans probably didn’t include letting you drag him around the library. You really like Spencer, you don’t want to hijack all of your time together. 

Spencer hasn’t even considered that. In fact, he is actively planning the next time that the two of you can come back, desperate to see you so happy again. Desperate to make you that happy.

His clothes end up in your drawers, he starts going in to work with homemade meals that are obviously made by someone who graduated culinary school (i.e, not him). Love pours endlessly out of every crevice, and Spencer feels like he’s drowning in it. Spencer loves his apartment, it’s his home, but as somebody who also loves you he loves your apartment a lot as well.

It feels like every single time he goes over he finds out something new about you and the way you love, which is why he’s not quite so sure why it took him so long to notice the empty shelves in your room.

You’re on your phone, lying on your stomach with your feet by the head of the bed. Spencer is just coming back from the kitchen, your coffee order in his hand when he notices it. “Are you gonna put something on that shelf?”

You look up from your phone to see the shelf he’s gesturing to. Spencer can’t pretend not to notice the way that your face falls. “Uh, sure. I can if you want?”

Spence shrugs as he comes to sit down beside you. You wriggle up so you’re sitting and take the coffee out of his hand. “I don’t care, babe. It’s your room.” He plants a kiss on the side of your face and swiftly moves on. “I just remembered on Saturday I made plans with Kiana, so I’m gonna have to skip the library, I’m sorry.” He does seem genuinely sorry to be missing out on the time spent with you, you deflate subtly.

: ̗̀➛ "Protective" is a generous way of describing how Kiana acts towards the people she loves, especially after losing Himeko. It's not just her maturing and growing stronger in fortitude— you can tell that there's something... off about her.

: ̗̀➛ Still, she's your friend! She's your friend, so you don't suspect a thing when you suddenly start seeing her everywhere you go. All of those cafes you told her you were thinking of checking out, the mall that recently opened not too far from your area, even by the small family diner just across from your apartment... you name it, she's there.

: ̗̀➛ Even when you close the blinders of your window whenever you get that familiar, uncomfortable, and seemingly irrational feeling that someone's watching you— you only brush it off as being paranoid because of your lack of sleep.

: ̗̀➛ Meanwhile, Kiana just thinks you trust her enough to let you do all these things. Jeez, how could you forget to lock your windows and doors? That's dangerous! Luckily, she's here to make sure you're safe. You're so reckless; she only wants to take care of you! At least, that's how all of this started...

: ̗̀➛ And what better way to do that than to kidnap relocate you to an old hideout in Nagazora? The place makes her remember things she would rather bury in the back of her mind forever, but it's the most secure spot she can think of.

: ̗̀➛ Kiana is no expert in construction, but although the place is worn down with the wallpaper peeling off and the floor cracked in odd places, it's surprisingly clean. She tries her best to keep it spotless, which is a feat in itself considering her laziness when it comes to chores. Anything for you.

: ̗̀➛ You're not given much freedom at first with your arms and legs tied to the most comfortable chair she could find. Everything above your shoulders is left untouched; she doesn't want to damage your pretty face in the slightest! Besides, even if you scream for help, no one would be able to hear you.

Personality:

Kiana was initially a boastful, overconfident, and somewhat 'idiotic' girl with a strong love for food. She was cheerful, always believing she could accomplish anything she set her mind to. Even when injured, she smiled through the pain and showered her friends with affection. Her carefree attitude and overconfidence often led her to make reckless decisions without hesitation, especially if it meant saving others, even at the cost of her own safety.

However, after the latest Honkai Eruption at the hands of the Herrscher of the Void—her other self—Kiana's personality changed dramatically. She matured into someone determined to end the Honkai once and for all. Haunted by the 2nd Herrscher and weighed down by guilt and depression, she became quieter, more serious, and thoughtful. Fearing that others might get hurt because of her, she believed if anyone had to suffer, it should be her. Around her friends, she frequently faked her cheerful attitude to prevent Bronya and Mei from worrying too much.

As she began training to master her Herrscher powers under Fu Hua, Kiana grew more withdrawn. When people avoided her out of fear, she chose to eat alone to avoid making them uncomfortable. Despite still being considerate, she rarely engaged in conversations or sought out friendships, a stark contrast to her earlier self, as she feared harming those around her.

During the events in the Theater of Domination, Kiana confronted the Herrscher of the Void and came to terms with the fact that both personalities within her were manifestations of Sirin. She gained full control of her body and Herrscher powers. Despite the hardships and horrors caused by her other self, Kiana chose to move forward with renewed resolve, determined to fight for the beauty of the world and to honor the legacy left to her by Himeko.

Throughout the Finality arc, Kiana showed tremendous growth, facing countless challenges alongside her friends. Her resolve to surpass the Honkai and find a better solution than her great-grandfather's Project STIGMA became even stronger, as she refused to sacrifice humanity.

After becoming the Herrscher of Finality, Kiana regained much of her original cheerfulness, returning to her playful self while maintaining the maturity she had gained over the years of battling the Honkai. She wielded her powers responsibly, but wasn’t above using them to pull pranks for fun. Her life became more peaceful, and she was finally honest with Bronya, Mei, and the others, no longer needing to maintain a false front.

Trivia:

-Kiana is really intelligent, with an impressive IQ of 180, but she tends to have a short attention span. Her real strength isn't so much in book learning, but more in her street smarts. She's good at coming up with ideas quickly and thinking outside the box, especially when usual solutions don't work. A great example of this was in Chapter 22, where she cleverly saved Fu Hua from having to make a big sacrifice. It really showed how fast she can think and solve problems when it's important.

-Kiana often jokes about being 'dead inside' or wanting to die, which is her way of dealing with negative feelings. She's actually grateful when her friends like Bronya, Mei and Theresa call her out on these jokes. It shows that they care, and it gives her a way to let out some of that inner darkness in a lighter, more manageable way. They get that she's just trying to cope and are there for her, which really means a lot to Kiana.

the reason for bananaz is because just like her and felix, its very rare to see one without the other!! bang and kiana tg,,, chan was the first friend kiana made at JYP and she was also new to korea (sort of) so he helped her a lot!! hes the reason she decided to continue song writing and eventually he helped her start producing some songs during trainee days too. a lot of the songs she wrote during predebut ended up being fixed a little and turned into songs for other groups. she has a HUGEE folder on chans computer filled with songs, bc shes too lazy to get her own😭(chans been begging her to leave his computer alone or at least let him get her one) no matter how much chan cares for kiana, she still gives him gray hairs when shes teasing him with seungmin.. cross that, when shes being her in general. she never listens to him which often causes her to get hurt or just annoy him😭 but he still loves our girl <3

LEE KNOW - MYUNJI

lee know also helped kiana when she first came to JYP !! not only in speaking korean , but also in dancing . when she first came she was more talented in singing than dancing so he taught her. he has a soft spot for ki and when theyre seen together ,theyre probably bullying seungmin or just being cute . lee know is always trying to steal gamcho tho which results in kiana tackling him.. kiana always teases him about being 1 inch shorter because he used to always be so much taller than her but now shes the taller one (she caught him searching up “how to get taller” once and now she never lets it go) these two are always doing dance challenges and tiktok things together (1/3 of the ones she forces to do tiktoks with her..) but having a soft spot for her doesnt really count for all the time.. its not lee know if hes not teasing a member 💁‍♀️

CHANGBIN - CHANGJI

never let changbin stand next to her.. the third tallest and the shortest member . this man will throw a tantrum if it means he doesnt have to stand next to her 😭 despite her looking like she doesnt work out, she actually goes to the gym with changbin a lot, working up those abs 💪(fans and ‘bout half of skz don’t know tho🫣🫣) . whenever chan is busy , but she has a new song she wants to show she always goes to him to see if its good . its also hard to see these two without eachother . when he first saw her he alr knew they had to be friends from how her personality was !!

HYUNJIN - 2HYUN / JINKI

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 9 Ep 93: The Shape of You

Luigi wasn’t alone in being anxious about the pregnancy.

Despite a relatively complication free first trimester, when they arrived at their second trimester appointment with Dr. Valezquez, the experienced therapist took one look at Noemi’s troubled expression and ill-fitting outfit and immediately recognized a sim in desperate need of comforting.

She welcomed them both warmly and jumped right in: “Our last session was quite focused on Luigi’s concerns. This time, let’s start with the mother to be. Adjusting to big changes like this can give anyone a hard time, and we’re here to find ways to help. So how are you feeling, dear?”

Noemi replied that she’d had a very helpful glimpse into their future recently. “Luigi’s teammate just had an adorable little baby boy and invited us over for dinner. Breanne, his wife, has already raised one child and told me a lot about what to expect in the years to come.”

Luigi jumped in to say that the way his co-captain had taken to the baby gave him great hope for his own child when Dr. Valezquez cut him off.

“Yes, spending time with other parents of a similar age can be very helpful, but we were waiting to hear how Noemi was feeling.”

“I’ve been taking very good care of myself, cooking healthy meals and avoiding junk food and empty calories. I’m also fully back into my old fitness regime and pushing more weight at the gym than ever before.” As she spoke, even Luigi noticed how she unconsciously seemed to hide her belly.

He thought back to noticing her longing looks at the sugary breakfast cereal he’d bought for her as she prepared a low-fat egg white omelet, and the way she’d been working out to the point of exhaustion. He glanced at the therapist and asked: “Is it possible to be in too good a shape?”

 “Not necessarily” the Doctor said, “But it raises an important question. Noemi, what do you think the healthiest shape is, for someone growing a whole new person right around … here?” She pantomimed a baby belly on herself, rounded and projecting. “And the healthiest frame of mind?”

Noemi’s eyes filled with tears at the question. She grabbed some tissues from the box Dr. Velasquez kept on hand and snuggled into her boyfriends' outstretched arms to explain: “The changes to my body are freaking me out a bit. My mom said a lot of hurtful things about my weight when I hit puberty. That’s when I started focusing more on working out and eating healthy.”

“My departed wife, Kiana, helped me learn to love and accept myself, but mom’s unkind words when we told her about the baby brought all those insecurities roaring back to the surface. Suddenly I was right back to hating looking at myself in the mirror.” She buried her face in Luigi’s shoulder. “I’m afraid if I put on baby weight, I’ll never get rid of it. ”

“It’s normal to struggle with the physical changes pregnancy brings, especially for people who’ve struggled with their body image in the past” their therapist gently told her. “But it’s important for you and your baby to get the fuel and rest you need to grow in healthy ways. Feel free to keep doing exercises that feel comfortable, but now isn’t the time to push harder.”  She smiled. “Don’t worry, you’ll get to do all the pushing you want at the end.”

“If mirrors make it harder to love yourself, please, let your doctors and family support you there.” She looked at Luigi “Can we count on you to help Noemi see that she is beautiful and loved?”

 “Of course!” he said “Noemi will always be beautiful to me, no matter what. I just want her and the baby to be happy and healthy.”

“Great!” Dr. Valezquez beamed. “It’s a special time, enjoy it! Noemi, savor those cravings and enjoy whatever food your body calls for. Go shopping for something that shows off your new shape, rather than trying to hide it.”

Unknowingly mirroring Beau she continued: “Most importantly, start getting excited about the baby to come. It may help you both to remember this is really all about the third person on my couch right now.”

“I recommending finding out your little one's gender at your next OB visit and start trying out names. Studies show that finding out the gender of an unborn baby and giving him or her a name helps with bonding. Buy some cute things to decorate their room, talk to them, and wait for those baby kicks to start in earnest!” The doctor patted her own belly with a faraway look in her eye. “Getting prepared ahead of time will make things much easier when your baby finally arrives.”

The couple left their session that day with lots of “homework”, but in a much better frame of mind than the last time.

They would have one more session before the baby was born, and they both hoped to have made some progress, and have good news to share, by the time that final appointment rolled around.

Giyuu - Kiana doesn't know how to approach him, but she is very much the kind of person that watches him from afar.

Kyojuro - When he was alive, she enjoyed being around him and talking about the lineage of flame Hashira. His personality always gave her a daily dose of hope and she enjoyed making him sweet potato's. They were friends.

Shinobu - Kiana and Shinobu have intellectual conversations and shared a lot of the same complaints about being short. They are good friends.

Mitsuri - Talking to her makes Kiana the happiest. She so full of excitement and love She enjoys eating with Mitsuri and since Kiana is a bottomless pit, they spend quite a lot of time together. They are besties.

Muichiro - Kiana dotes on that poor boy so much. She see's him as a little brother more than anything else and is impressed with his swordsmanship.

Sanemi - Their relationship is touch and go, a lot of arguments, but there are times where they sit down and tolerate each other's existence.

Obanai - Kiana does not interact with Obanai.

Tengen - Kiana and Tengen are best friends. He is one of the only people who see her unfiltered and unruly. They spar often and every once in a while, Kiana goes to him to learn more about his days as a Shinobi and his abilities. He never tells her outright, but always smiles softly at her and tells her that he can't 'give away too many secrets.' She doesn't mind. It just gives them both a reason to be around each other.

Gyomei - Kiana has the biggest crush on the Stone Hashira. She does anything and everything to be around him; that includes all of his painful training. He makes her nervous, and she can feel butterflies in her stomach when she's around him. She wants to be his wife.

Chapter 6 - The Golden Girl of Lurelin Village

        As expected, the villagers were very curious about Link, particularly Kiana's kids, who hounded him with questions so incessantly he almost couldn't sneak a bite of food. It made Thea smile a little. Of course, Link replied with his sufficient-but-horribly-vague answers, and Thea unfortunately didn't learn anything more than she already knew.

        For this meal, Kiana had made her signature seafood paella, which Thea could never get enough of. It brought back memories of her childhood, coming home to eat after spending long days warm in the tropical sun. So many good memories, so many good people in this village. Around the now-empty cooking pot and simmering fire, the merry crowd of Rozel, Armes, Chessica, Kiana, Sebasto, and their kids sat. They didn't always eat meals together, but every meal they did was a happy one. She wondered how Link felt, now, sitting with her and the people she called family. He was around her age, yet traveling and facing unimaginable dangers all alone. Did he have people he could call family? Was he sad, or happy to sit with them? She hoped it was the latter. Thea knew that as long as he stayed here, he would be treated as warmly as any member of the village.

        She stole a quick glance over to him, his dirty blond hair laced with gold in the sunlight. He did, in fact, have a small smile on his face as he listened to the others chat avidly about funny stories of the past. Sebasto and Kiana were just finishing up telling one about Sebasto as a teenager, when he snuck into Cloyne's hut and tried to steal the money Cloyne used for his gambling games--but was immediately caught and kicked out on his rear-end. Cloyne, a mysterious man who Thea tried to avoid, ran one of the main attractions for travelers to Lurelin: a luck-based treasure chest gambling game. His hut was right across from the inn--the largest of the village actually, shaped like a boat. Thea had never entered, and she didn't plan to. Cloyne had banned Sebasto from ever participating after that, though Kiana laughed loudly and remarked that might have saved them a lot of money. Sebasto rolled his eyes good-naturedly while the rest of the group laughed merrily together.

        It was at the point where Thea was scooping out the last bits of rice from her bowl when Kiana and Sebasto's youngest son, Kinov said innocently to Link, "You look a lot like Thea!! Are you from where Thea is really from? Are you guys related?"

        Thea froze, food still in her mouth. She looked over at Link, who was smiling at Kinov, completely at ease. She felt quite the opposite. And it wasn't just from the awkwardness of Kinov asking if they were related, no... it was his first question that clanged through her and left her hollow. Are you from where Thea is really from? Where she was really from. Kinov had only been in the village for a couple of years, a much shorter time than Thea. She had even been there for his birth, helping tend to Kiana. And he already sensed the difference between herself and the rest of them. He, as a toddler, had singled her out as fundamentally different from the rest of the village. No matter how hard she tried, she would never fit in. She would never be a native Lurelinian, her golden hair would make sure of that. Thea would never really belong anywhere, not here, and not in the strange world outside she had never once set foot. It was all she could do to keep her lunch from rising up.

        Link politely denied Kinov with a friendly laugh. Thea barely heard him, or the rest of the conversation that followed. She didn't speak or laugh for the rest of the meal.

        As the meal-goers began to pack things up, Thea quickly dismissed herself after rinsing her bowl in the water of the bay and handing it to Kiana with a stiff smile. She had to get away. She needed to be alone for a while.

        Chessica tried to talk to her, but Thea brushed her off as politely (and as quickly) as she could, asking if they could talk later. Link was engaged in a conversation with Rozel, still sitting by the embers of the fire. Thea didn't bother asking him what his plans were, or even telling him where she was going. She didn't have the energy, and didn't even know if she wanted to be around him at all. Her stomach still felt hollow as she walked down the beach, past the inn, past the dock of Mub's shop, and up the path to her target practice spot. Instead of practicing as she normally did when she came here, she sat down by the edge of the pool, the soft roar of the waterfall helping to drown her thoughts.

        Thea pulled her knees up to her chest, smoothing her sand-colored skirt down and looking into the water. She felt like crying, but lacked the energy to even muster up a tear. Looking different, being an ousider, had been an insecurity for her since she could remember. Kiana and Chessica had each, as her mother figures, assured her countless times that she was viewed just like any of the rest of them. That Thea was a native Lurelinian. Thea tried to believe them, but Kinov's comment today had struck something deep within her, had shattered something. Now, she felt numb and almost thoughtless. She let the rushing waterfall fill her ears, her mind. She didn't know how long she sat there. It could have been any number of hours. She didn't care.

        The light of the sun was just a glow over the western mountains as Thea came back to the inn. She had to look strong, even if she didn't feel it. The last thing she needed was Chessica asking questions.

        "Hey! Where've you been?" Chessica posed as Thea entered. Link wasn't back yet, she noticed.

        "Just practicing. Sorry I'm late. I'll do my chores now." Thea said, grabbing a pot and hauling it outside before Chessica could say another word. As she dipped the pot into the clear water of the bay, she took a deep breath. The torches were crackling once more, the seagulls still calling loudly overhead. The sand, still warm from the now-hidden sun, was rough between her toes and under her feet. Like it always had been.

        Thea finished her chores rather unceremoniously, blaming her bad mood on tiredness when Chessica eventually asked. Whatever Chessica had wanted to talk about with her earlier seemed to be of unimportance now, as Chessica brought nothing up. Thea didn't care to ask.

        As she set the pot down and put the brooms and brushes back in place, Thea decided she needed some air. There was a particular spot she hadn't visited for a while now, but it had been one of her favorite spots as a kid.

        The lookout tower was an imaginably tall wooden platform supported by a thick, singular wooden pole. It was located on the beach near Rozel's hut and the entrance, standing proudly as it faced out towards the ocean. A towering ladder reached to the top, providing her with a way up. It had been a difficult (and dangerous, now that Thea looked at it again) journey as a kid, but she had done it. Now, with her older age, larger frame, and lean muscles she had been working for weeks, it was an easier ordeal.

        Thea reached the top. The wooden platform was small, enough for a few people to stand, with no railings. The drop off to the side was high enough to be deadly if she fell. It was almost hard for her to believe she had confidently been up here at only seven years old. But the view... the view was worth any danger. Though night was falling, the fading sun cast a reddish-pink glow around the edge of the horizon. From the eastern side, dark, midnight blue reached up to the crown of the sky. It was a clear night. Squinting, Thea could make out the stars, flickering into existence as the sun faded. Below, the lights of the village were as well, the lanterns in each hut now glowing softly. Over the water of the bay, Thea could see the warm light from Mubs' boat reflecting in the water as it rocked.

        On the gentle breeze, Thea could smell sea-salt and the faint scent of smoke from whatever Kiana had cooked earlier for dinner. Thea realized that she hadn't had dinner as her stomach grumbled quietly, but she didn't have the energy to go all the way down and ask for whatever cold leftovers remained, if there were any. She'd eat a banana or something. It was fine.

        Thea sat cross-legged on the wooden boards, adjusting her patterned-pink top and brushing bits of grass out of her skirt from earlier. Today hadn't been a good day, but there had been good parts. She had learned to fire an arrow correctly. She could practice, now, with the knowledge she was doing it correctly. She had learned some things about the world outside. Thea wanted to feel good about it. She wanted to get over Kinov's stupid comment. It shouldn't be affecting her so deeply. But it was like his comment had caused a wave of mist, of fog, to cloud her brain and she didn't have the energy nor want to think about anything. That fog made it difficult to form thoughts, to reach into her mind and think about memories, about the good things. It made her numb.

        "Hey," A voice cut through that fog like a hot knife through butter. Thea didn't jump with surprise as she normally would, her instincts dulled. She turned her neck, peering over her shoulder at the ladder. It was Link. She didn't say anything, turning back to look at the endless waves of the ocean coming into the bay. She heard him climb all the way up, sitting down next to her. "Here."

        Thea turned her head to him. He held out a small bowl of dinner. Porgy meuniere--that's what Kiana had cooked. She took it slowly, meeting his eyes. They seemed to sparkle in the remaining light, blue as the sea. He had brought her food. "Why?"

        "You weren't at dinner. I didn't see any other fires and saw you up here instead, so I assumed you hadn't eaten."

        Thea quietly grabbed her fork and dug in. She wasn't sure what to make of his actions. She was grateful, but it still felt difficult to think. She still felt hollow. They sat in silence for a while as night fully fell, the stars above twinkling into their full and bright existence. Though the sun was gone, the night was still hot, and humid.

        "Thank you." Thea finally spoke as she set her bowl down on the boards. She laid back, her shoulder blades pressed to the wood beneath her. She faced the blanket of stars above that stretched endlessly in every direction. There was a rustle of fabric as Link did the same, laying beside her.

        "The one thing that doesnt change," Link spoke suddenly, "when I travel are the stars. I look at them a lot. It reminds me that I'm in the same place. They're especially beautiful here."

        "Do you wish you could stay in the same place?" Thea heard herself ask.

        "Theoretically I could. I could stay here for as long as I wanted. I could ignore...the things I need to do. Maybe some day, I could settle somewhere for a while, but for now I can't. So I don't really think about it." There was silence for a moment. Thea wondered what kinds of things he needed to do, what exactly he was responsible for that left such a tiredness in his voice. He asked, "Do you wish you could travel?"

        Thea thought about it for a moment, straining through the fog in her mind. It had faded a little, she noticed, since he had arrived. "Yeah, I think so." She thought for a moment again, before continuing, "I've been in this village my whole life. I'm comfortable, and it's natural to be here. But I still feel that I don't fit in. I still feel like an outsider, and I still feel like they view me that way. They always will. Maybe leaving would help me."

        Link paused, as if taking in all that she had admitted, before remarking quietly, "I meant what I said earlier, you know. That you have an energy that matches this place. And to be fair, you don't look all that different from the rest of the villagers. You'd be surprised at how different people look outside this place."

        "More different than Gerudo women look?"

        "Much, much different." He turned his head from the stars to look at her. Thea could feel his eyes on her. "The world is a strange place. There are many things that are different, in all kinds of ways. But when you see enough, you come to learn that we're all kind of the same. Differences are often superficial. If that's what is harming you, try not to let yourself get caught up in them. They're not really real."

        Thea turned her head to look at him, meeting his gaze. His sincere, honest gaze. Link was young, but in those eyes was a timeless wisdom that told her he had seen many things, and that maybe he had dealt with similar thoughts himself. Ones he had had to face alone. He meant what he said.

        Thea turned her head back to the stars. Maybe he was right. With the other villagers, her differences were only superficial. Otherwise, she was just like them. She could see the logic, but wasn't sure how convinced she was just yet. Maybe she needed to see the world, like he had, too. Maybe then she would be convinced.

        Thea didn't feel herself drifting off. It was only until Link spoke up that she jolted awake again. "Hey, let's get you down before you fall asleep up here."

        She nodded sleepily as he helped her up, and they made their way slowly down the ladder. He was beneath her, supposedly to catch her if she were to slip in her drowsiness. Thea wasn't sure if that would actually work, but thankfully they didn't have to worry about it as they both reached the ground safely.

        Chessica didn't say anything as they entered the inn together, just politely took the money Link handed her and directed him towards his bed. There were questions in her blue eyes that Thea noticed but was too tired to answer. Thea slid into one of the fluffy beds at the back of the room, slipping her dirty, sandy clothes off and pulling on the soft sleeping set she normally wore--a short-sleeve, cropped shirt and shorts, to combat the night's heat. It was of white cloth, patterned with small, green leaf prints. She'd have to do laundry tomorrow, she thought sleepily. The last thing she heard was the rustling of sheets as Link and Chessica got settled into their respective beds, before sleep won over her.

hey mei, what are your top 10 favourite video games?

1. Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild - Loved everything about it!! The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is amazing, and the story is easy to understand without playing the other games. I have Tears of the Kingdom, but for some reason, I prefer BOTW much more. Also, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing beyond words!! The one that plays whenever a Ruin Guardian spots you sort of gave me PTSD. Whenever I hear it, I can't help but look towards the source of the sound, get up, and run for my life.

2. Ghost of Tsushima - Everything about this game is a 10/10, but I really liked the combat in particular! There are so many ways you can kill someone, from silently assassinating them to poisoning them to beheading them. Even after the main story, there are still so many side quests and content that are just as fun. Jin Sakai is also very cool and I love how he abandoned his honor as a samurai to protect the people.

3. Eastward - Definitely a must-play if you have a Nintendo Switch. The graphics are unique and colorful yet also somewhat mellow at times. The music is great. All of the characters are so fleshed out and lovable. Not to mention the amount of content in the game, where you have at least one other game inside of it. There's the Earthbound(?) (I forgot what it was called) game inside of the arcades which I still haven't been able to finish to this day, and the Octopia DLC (Really cheap by the way, it was 20$ last time I checked) which is basically a whole other farming game.

4. Honkai Impact 3rd - Of course, HI3 is one of my favorite games. The gacha is very generous compared to other games, the rewards are really good, and the rest speaks for itself. Just the story alone would be enough to make it into my top 10. Story aside, I really love the characters and their designs. Their designs reflect their personality perfectly and all of them are just so lovable. Watching Kiana grow up so mature within only 2 years gives me such an odd feeling. I'm so proud of her, but at the same time, where has the "cheerful idiot" Kiana gone? It feels like only yesterday I was playing through the story and she refused to eat the meal Durandal gave her because there was no one to remove the bones of the fish like Mei usually did.

5. Stardew Valley - Call me basic, but I really fell in love with everything about this game. The music in particular makes me feel so oddly nostalgic. I also have a lot of good memories associated with it. It's one of those games that I play on and off but always end up enjoying no matter what, especially with the use of modding.

6. Dead Cells - Loved it! The combat is so fluid, the monsters are all so unique, the animations are so smooth for a pixel art game, and everything about the gameplay is so enjoyable. I'm a sucker for these types of games, honestly. I sadly haven't had the time to play it for a while now, though...

7. Subnautica - I'm not sure if this counts because even though I have a copy of the game, I've made almost zero progress on it. This is mostly only on my list because I'm a really big fan of sea exploration stuff. I was also particularly obsessed with the idea of making the Cyclops fully self sufficient.

8. Minecraft - I had such a big Minecraft phase back then. I would wear merch to school and sing those parodies thinking I was so cool. No wonder I didn't have any friends during that period of my life. Still, I actually wasn't able to buy the game until like... 2018. I think this would be higher on the list if I had people to play it with and if I could recover my account for it.

9. Animal Crossing : New Horizons - I was obsessed with it during the pandemic, but nowadays I play it on and off. As much as I like the older games, being able to freely place furniture outside is life changing. It's also way easier to change outfits because you can actually see what you're wearing. Not to mention, the graphics are way cuter.

10. Osu! - I got into it because a guy I liked did and ended up becoming better than him. I mostly.played standard, but mania was also fun from time to time. I was ranked at around 4 digits before I had to stop because people were complaining that my keyboard was being way too loud. I just didn't have the money to get a new one at the time, so I ended up deleting the game. Really fun, though! There's a mode for everyone.

I like to think that even if he doesn’t shower often, he’ll still brush his teeth

Actually enjoys his job but there’s only so much energy drinks in the world for him

But if he feels like going with his siblings he’ll impatiently wait for them and yell n stuff

Doesn’t drink coffee believe it or not [only monsters can go to work at 5 am without having any caffeine and I think this fits him very much

Sometimes goes out for dinner alone when he’s planning on working extra time at the office

The best cook out of all the siblings. [things that genshin just does the best]

Doesn’t cook often but if someone asks him to make something he’ll get it right on his first try 80% of the time

Has a pet horse

Almost never at home

Business trips abroad often

Seeing him in regular casual clothes is like seeing a unicorn.

Probably has a skin condition where if he’s touching cheap fabric he’ll have skin rashes

Handles and prepares live sea creatures for dinner way too casually.

Once killed a live chicken that was running around the house by throwing a skewer through its head

Doesn’t like cleaning and will have the help pick up after him… he’s just snobby like that

No social life outside of work and business related matters

Ig PJR is kind of a friend but they’re more so rivals

Works at the hoyoverse building, same with Themis and SR and whenever he finishes early he’d go hangout with them a bit

Always spend time with each other on weekends, all of them. Hi3 says that there will be zero working on weekends. But even when he’s not working he’s still wearing suits. [Genshin breaks this rule a lot]

FFXIVWrite Day 22 - Fulsome

Akku made too many sandwiches. That's the story. Very light hearted and silly, I wrote half of it with my head spinning lol. Ft @fatewalker-phoenix's Kiana.

Akku stared at the picnic spread in front of him, unsure what to do. The idea had been sound on paper. Make enough sandwiches for all of Solar and invite them for a picnic. Unfortunately, he hadn’t accounted for how everyone had their own individual things to do these days. Since stopping the final days, Solar had been more spread out than usual. Akku hadn’t realized how much harder that made it to invite them all together for something until this moment. Where he stood in front of a massive collection of sandwiches meant for a large group of people with only Kiana beside him.

Kiana looked equally bewildered by the situation.

“Do you think we can eat all of these?” Akku asked.

“I don’t think so. I can eat maybe two” Kiana replied, her tail swishing back and forth ever so slightly.

Anxiety swirled around her. Clearly neither of them knew what to do with all the food.

“Do you think there’s anyone around who wants some free food?” Akku asked, unsure of what to do. 

He glanced around the area at the Sharlayans milling around the grass, but none of them had a particularly strong feeling of hunger that he could see.

Sharlayan was a nice place for a picnic. Kiana had easily been able to show up already being in the city. But everyone else had been so scattered by their current pursuits since the disbanding of the Scions that nobody else had been able to come on the short notice Akku had given. He had done this before without issue when they’d all been the same area, but hadn’t accounted for how things had changed. He’d have to get a head count ahead of time next time.

But that didn’t really help them with this collection of sandwiches now.

“We’d have to ask. A lot of Studium students usually like being offered free things” Kiana answered.

“Oh! That’s a good idea! I know a few people there!” Akku decided eagerly.

The two of them shoved the sandwiches back into the bags Akku had brought them in and moved towards the Studium.

Unfortunately while the students were delighted, the professors didn’t take kindly to people handing things out without the Studium’s approval. They only managed to give away three before an annoyed teacher marched up and started shouting at them.

Apparently the students were perfectly fine with archon loaf, though Akku wasn’t sure they agreed. They’d seem excited, and even relieved to be offered something else from what he saw.

“I don’t want to go too close to the Last Stand, we’d only hurt their business giving away food over there” Akku thought aloud.

“Maybe the aetheryte plaza? A lot of people pass through there” Kiana suggested.

So that became their next attempt. It fared a lot better there, as a group of gleaners passing by on their way to Layrinthos were quick to tell other gleaners who would then stop by. 

But apparently Sharlayan and free food weren’t all that compatible.

“What exactly are you two doing?” Fourchenault demanded, marching up to them.

Akku was baffled to see he was angry. What were they doing wrong?

“Um… giving away food?” Kiana answered.

“We had too many sandwiches, so we wanted to give them out to people” Akku added quickly, taking over when he saw the way Kiana’s anxiety spiked.

“You can’t just give away whatever you please in-” he started to lecture them but fate had another idea, as Ameliance happened to pass by at that moment.

“Oh look at those sandwiches! Did you make them?” she asked eagerly.

Fourchenault stared at his wife, his emotions conflicting. On one hand he was still upset, on the other hand affection for Ameliance seemed to stop him from continuing to complain about something she had just expressed delight in.

“I made them, but we have too many. We thought other people would want them” Akku explained again.

“What a nice idea! I bet you’ve made people’s days with this! If you give me a moment, I have supplies for you to set up a proper stand back home if you’d like” she declared.

Akku could tell just from the way she was looking at them that knew exactly what she was doing overriding Fourchenault.

“I suppose if they have a stand it would be alright” Fourchenault conceded, his affection for his wife finally warding off the last of his upset.

“That would be really nice of you, thank you!” Akku accepted, raising his tail excitedly.

Ameliance ran off to gather what was needed, while Fourchenault just lingered nearby unsure what to do now.

“This should be fun! It’s not what I imagined us doing, but imagine how happy everyone will be” Akku told Kiana, cheerfully waving his tail.

Kiana’s nervousness from Fourchenault’s interruption still lingered, but Akku could see her excitement rising again as they were left alone.

“I hope it’s not a huge bother for her to get all those things for us” Kiana idly commented.

“She seemed genuinely excited. I think she also wanted to save us from Fourchenault though” Akku assured.

But he reached into the sandwich bag closest to him and found one he knew Kiana liked to pass over to her, hoping to help her settle down.

“Oh I made you a sandwich too actually. Since you always make them for everyone else” Kiana remembered, reaching into a bag and fumbling around for a moment before pulling one out.

Akku accepted gratefully, surprised to see she’d cut into the shape of a cat. He almost asked the details about her making it, but he recognized the shape of a cat cookie cutter from Solar’s kitchen and had a feeling it would only upset her. It didn’t matter to him, but he didn’t want to risk embarrassing her in public if the shape made its way into the conversation.

The two of them ate their own sandwiches and finished just as Ameliance approached, a group of her servants following her all carrying things.

“This is… a lot” Akku commented.

“Alphinaud and Alisaie had a lemonade stand a few times as kids. I just dug the whole thing out of storage” Ameliance explained as her servants started setting it up.

“This was for a lemonade stand?” Kiana asked, watching it be put together.

The stand seemed much fancier than one would expect a children’s lemonade stand to be. But Amelience was lost in excited nostalgia as she watched it get put together, enough so for Akku to believe her.

“I think it’s a rich person's lemonade stand,” Akku whispered to Kiana, who nodded in understanding.

By the time everything was set up, anyone passing by would have thought Akku and Kiana were professionally selling sandwiches. Plenty of people even asked the price before realizing they were free.

Ameliance and her helpers all got one for themselves, and the rest were gone within an hour. Even Fourchenault, at his wife’s urging, eventually took one. Otherwise, the most notable visitors were Krile and G’raha who were delighted to see Akku and Kiana outside of some perilous situation.

Akku went home that night happy. While he had been somewhat disappointed not getting to see the rest of Solar, the sandwich stand adventure had been fun and quickly made up for it.

But next time, he wouldn’t make food before getting a head count.
