If times get tough, always remember your happy place. My happy place is when I'm listening to my old K-pop/Khiphop/KR&B playlist from my middle and high school days. In recent months, my depression and stress have increased not only due to personal reasons but also because of the state of our country and its issues. It's draining seeing every one of us struggle to just remain sane.

But one thing is for certain, don't be afraid to be different and be yourself; find joy and excitement even in these tough times. I know that sounds crazy, but we must, or we lose ourselves.

So I don't really know much about the whole landscape of BTS Tumblr though I know your first stop should be @jung-koook as they are the biggest update account and giffer for BTS on Tumblr. They may be able to help you a little more, but I can give you a description of each member should you wish. :)

Kim NamJoon/RM (Rap Monster) - Position: Leader - Rapper - Fourth Oldest

Namjoon is the main rapper for the group. He also writes a significant amount of lyrics for the band and his own side endeavors. Grew up in Illsan, a city outside of Seoul. Originally he was the only member who could speak English, and he taught himself using the show Friends, and he spent some time in New Zealand as a Middle Schooler. He joined the underground rap scene in Seoul in 2008, garnering attention from other rappers, and joined BigHit labels in 2010 with the potential to go on as a solo rapper in the KHipHop scene, ultimately deciding not to and he helped create BTS. His first roommate was Suga. He is currently in the military, as part of the Band.

Kim SeokJin - Position: Visual - Vocalist - Oldest Member

Better known as solely Jin, he is from Gwangsan and has an elder brother. He also spent some time in school in an English-speaking nation, Australia, though he finds the language harder than Namjoon. Jin is a special case since he was scouted for his beauty twice; once by someone from SM Entertainment (one of the biggest companies) and a second time on a bus by BigHit Entertainment. He ran away from the first person but ended up listening to the second. At the time he was attending Konkuk University for Film Studies (something he would actually finish in 2017. Jin is known for his jokes and amazingly velvety voice along with his wide shoulders and equally wide nickname: World Wide Handsome. His solo songs have been the backdrop for multiple KDramas. He was discharged from the military in June 2024.

Min YoonGi/Suga/Agust D - Position: Main Rapper - Second Oldest

Yoongi was born in Daegu, South Korea, he is the first of two members born there. He is known by multiple names due to his solo work under Agust D and his group work under Suga. Suga started as an underground rapper similar to RM, beginning to write lyrics at 13 while he was at school. Deciding to write 16 bars every day to keep on top of his skills. Due to growing up poor, he worked side jobs throughout his teen years, and once he joined BigHit Entertainment in 2010. He was the first to join RM at the company. During one of these side jobs, he was hit by a car, leading to lasting nerve damage in his shoulder, which is why his service to Korea is public rather than military. Yoongi has written the second most songs for BTS, just behind Namjoon. He raps quickly learning speed from listening to Eminem as a teen. He will return from service on June 21st.

Jung HoSeok/j-hope - Positions: Lead Rapper/Main Dancer - Third Oldest

Unlike his rapping counterparts, j-hope, also known by fans as Hobi, started as a dancer rather than a rapper. Originally from Gwanju, as a teen, Hobi joined the Neuron street dance team, where he spent 6 years dancing and working towards performance goals also while attending a performing arts middle school. He won a national dance competition in 2008. Originally, he auditioned for JYP Entertainment but lost out to a different dance group (it was a competition to see who could audition), eventually joining BigHit as a trainee in 2011, meant to finish off a rap trio of RM, Suga, and j-hope. Ultimately, that was scrapped when Jungkook joined BigHit, and he was going to be a vocalist rather than a rapper. J-hope is currently on his first world tour, having been discharged from the military last October.

Park JiMin - Position: Main Dancer - Vocalist - Fifth Oldest

Jimin's story is similar to j-hope's as his beginnings were that of a dancer rather than a singer. Born in Busan, South Korea. Jimin grew up dancing, and learning hip-hop dance in middle school before switching to contemporary dance at Busan's Performing Arts High School, where he was the top student in the department. His teacher began sending his dance tapes out to companies for him, encouraging him to perform. He passed his auditions for BigHit in 2012, just months before BTS' debut date. He was the last member to join the group and company. Throughout the years he has worked on his vocal abilities finding a place for himself in a higher register than the rest of the members. He will be discharged in June, as he is currently serving as a companionship soldier with Jungkook.

Kim TaeHyung/V - Position: Visual - Vocalist - Sixth Oldest

Tae's story is one of surprise. Born in Daegu, South Korea. He grew up on his grandparent's farm outside the city while his parents worked in different provinces to make money. He wanted to do music performance from a young age, and with his parents' help, he learned Saxophone as a child, though we know he plays the Trumpet as well due to his love of Jazz music. He attended a BigHit audition with a friend as their support before being plucked from the crowd and asked to audition by the staff. He was the only person to pass the Daegu auditions. He joined BigHit around 2011, after Jin, though he was known as the "secret member" prior to his debut in 2013. He is currently serving as a special forces member of the military, he will be discharged in June.

Jeon JungKook - Position: Main Vocalist/Sub Rapper - Youngest

Known as the Golden Maknae of the group, Jungkook is the main voice of they early years and is considered a perfect pitch. Jungkook was born in Busan. In 2011, he auditioned for a South Korean Talent Show called Superstar K. He made quite the impression when 6 companies started calling about auditions; he eventually chose the then-small company BigHit due to his love of RM's underground rapping. He was the first vocalist to join BigHit, effectively changing the idea of a rap trio to an actual boyband. Though he was way too stiff of a dancer, so he was sent to LA to learn how to actually dance (he was 13-14 at the time). He fell in love with dance, almost deciding to leave idol life behind to be a dancer, something Jin convinced him not to do. He was the main singer for the group as the other members' vocals got better over time. As a soloist, his music has been on the Billboard Hot 100. He is currently serving as a companionship soldier with Jimin, due to be discharged in June.

Well, there you have it, BTS. I love them all and can't wait for them to all be done with the military or public service on June 21st.

hi hi thanks so much for asking first of all!!! i actually am one of those writers who doesn't play music in the back when i write lol -- when i was younger, i used to put on like.... lofi coffee shop kpop/khiphop in the back (do yall rmbr 8-tracks omfg) but now i rly can't write with music in the back cause then i'll get distracted by the music. and i think it's largely bc im quite "sensitive" to lyrics (if i can understand them/they're in a language i speak/am familiar with) so it'll like... "interfere" with the words im actually trying to put down on the page.

i have been inspired by specific songs before tho like i listen to music when walking/commuting so i've had a song some on and i'm like SCRAMBLING to my notes app to type down an idea i've had for a fic or an au idea or something!

but yeah! when im really IN THE ZONE for writing, i write in complete silence. i also do well writing in the dark. basically i need to be in like. a sensory deprivation chamber when im producing my best writing lol

I'm such an introvert that even when I have a once-in-a-life opportunity to talk with one of my favourite kpop/khiphop artists aka Bobby, for days before the event my anxiety is going 'no I REALLY don't wanna talk to him, can I just NOT?'

...and then once Bobby meets me, it's immediately like 2 old friends chatting back together

What other blogs of khh krnb do ask an answer and also why is it bad if you don't write your raps jennie will be releasing her album soon many don't consider her a rapper because of it she has never claimed to be queen of rap.

Pretty much any khh blog will answer if their ask box is open and they were still active at some point this year. Look through khh or khiphop tag to find some blogs. I'm not sure about krnb.

People don't like it because hip-hop as an art form has always been about songwriting (or maybe just lyrics writing in general). It's not as impressive if you don't write your own stuff because a big point of rap is the lyricism, word play, rhymes, storytelling etc. It's different from other genres because while people still like the lyrics, the main focus is usually the singer's voice. The voice is important in rap too but I feel like most people rank lyrics the highest. I also feel like it just comes from Black culture too. There's an emphasis on "keeping it real", authenticity, and originality in Black culture which has been infused into hip-hop/rap. It can't be "original" or "authentic" if someone else wrote it for you. It's not your real thoughts. It's not something you uniquely created.

I just consider her an idol rapper. What she brings to the table is fine for her genre. She's a pop star who raps which is fine with me. I don't hold idol rappers to the same standard as someone who is purely hip-hop/rap music.

Also, I need to talk about Ikon/Bobby! Although I would've loved to see them go to the fullest of their ability since this was my first 'encounter' with Ikon, it was so nice to see people having fun during the show. Especially during the rap teams episode when Bobby told the other two that the most important was to have fun, and take this as an opportunity to try something that they wouldn't be able to do with their own group (Hence why Hwiyoung tried autotune, and why Sunwoo wanted a more Khiphop concept) did I like the song? No, but it was so entertaining to see them loosen up and have fun on stage and do things to satisfy their own self!

Like I remember that one of my final project in school was to write a short story, and I wanted to try to write something weird and in the gothic genre, but the teacher who would grade us was not into that kind of stuff so I really spent weeks wondering on if I should write the story as I wanted personally or if I should go for something they'd like, if my choice would affect my grade, if it'd be good... I think it was about 2 days away from the deadline that I decided to say fuck it and wrote my gothic story and honestly? Out of all the projects I made during my time in school, it is one of the pieces I'm the proudest of!

yea that was one thing that i really appreciated about what ikon and bobby brought to the table during kingdom, esp bc those shows are very high stress controlled environments where the stakes are (manufactored) to be very high. i'm glad that bobby could help them let go of some of that pressure, even if it was just for one stage. and it was super cute that he got both of them to be in his most recent solo mv too

A listener to kpop/korean music, specifically BTS (their songs, the lyrics really help me a lot with my condition) I have been listening to their songs for years now, their song writing and production (especially the cds of their albums slaps like the hidden tracks with studio versions and the unofficial songs, remakes (their remake of Born Singer and Come Back Home by Seotaji they even got pwrmission fron Seotaiji to perform the song in their concert) the messages, meanings, of their songs, what their music stood for, their songs healed me when I was going through a condition that made me anxious whenever I hear noises and sounds, it encourages me to listen to more music and enjoy it, instead of being afraid of it because noises and random sounds can't make me breathe sometimes especially if its repetitive, it felt like torture, i avoided music because of it for a long time, their genuine communication of their music to their fans and what their music stood for and finally able to buy their albums it was WORTH IT. I never knew I could enjoy listening to CDs back then I was kid I would run away when speakers of cds plays. The albums 2CFS, SLA, D&W, HYYH, Wings, LY: trilogy, MOTS7 , BE and PROOF albums really reflected their growth as artists at their time shows that their music grows with them, because of them being experimental it also made me grow to listen to various music even in other languages. I love their solo works as well, showing the individual colors of the members and their different type of song writing. Like the raplines mixtapes and their solo albums, Jack in the Box was a masterpiece, don't get me wrong D3, Indigo, and Face were story driven. RPWP by RM is so refreshing, the songs of the album kinda reminds me of Epik High's earlier music, Namjoon just have his own spin in it.

I do listened to other korean artists, I don't really run about the multi fandom kinda thing, i don't really think of myself as a multi stan, I just listen to some songs of an artists but it does not mean im gonna be a backly listener or buy their album, I just listen to korean music even if its considered as "non kpop", I just conned it as "korean music" instead of kpop because some people are gonna argue about khiphop is not kpop stuff, its korean popular music, its just an umbrella term for korean popular music, im not saying their kpop or not kpop to me its korean music, music from korea.
