Waving at the human to get his attention, a cheerful expression came on the knight's face at meeting someone new. "It's super swell to meet ya, I'm Goofy!
The wave got his attention as Terra stopped whatever he was doing and responded to the wave and the greeting with his out, yet also a question. "Name's Terra. What brings you to the land of departure?" It was uncommon to get surprise visitors, but not unusual so Terra didn't ask anything more. "If you are looking for master Eraquis he's away at the moment." His best guess for Goofy being here.

What hairstyle is better?
Pre-Heartless/DDD cut or Heartless cut
The bottom one looks way better on the model, like it looks more natural and blends in better.
Then on the heartless cut, it is all choppy and you can pick out each hair layer which isn't a good thing. It looks like sticks and it looks odd on him. The top one is just off in general.
I mean the heartless did get him a haircut so that's probably why he looks choppy but still... Maybe that's why in the secret ending Riku hair looks way better and smoother because he actually did something to his hair.
He probably was distracted with the ending battle with Xehanort not to care and finally fixed it or while Sora's disappearance FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR sadden him, his hair grew on its own and did something to look a bit better.

Having recently finished KH3 and currently getting destroyed in the ReMind DLC, I can say Kingdom Hearts has been a wonderful journey so far. There has been some good and bad, but I have genuinely enjoyed this series for what it is.

I just had a random plot bunny attack me at work. What if Desmond Miles was reborn as Sora from Kingdom Hearts with no memories of his former life? He goes through Kingdom Hearts (the first game) as normal but once we hit Chain of Memories things start to change. The plot of CoM is Memories and what is and isn't real. As Marluxia (or was it Axel) put it, "To lose is to find, and to find is to lose." Rather than Namine, Sora begins to remember his life as Desmond Miles. Kinda scaring Donald and Goofy. However it kinda goes away for a bit when Namine restores Sora's memories, for Kingdom Hearts 2 and Dream Drop. Yet Kingdom Hearts 3 is where it can get interesting again. Change out one of the 13 vessels for either Clay or Lucy and have Sora start to have an existential crisis and by the time of the Remind DLC when Sora uses the power of waking to save his friends, it's such a Desmond move that both parts of him are at peace.
Then he wakes up back on earth near the Grand Temple 11 years later, as the sixteen or seventeen year old Sora, or is it Desmond?
I’m gonna be honest with you, my highschool crush was Roxas so I wanna keep him in this idea but, my god, it would be so fun if Sora’s ‘nobody’ turns out to be one of his Bleeds.
But… we can actually keep Roxas since his looks is based on Ventus who was resting in Sora’s heart but we hint at his connection with Desmond Miles by making the prologue of KH2 dwell on his family and it’s talked about how he has an older brother, younger sister and younger brother. Namine later admitted that she wasn’t the one who wrote that in. It was Roxas himself who added that ‘detail’. ‘DiZ’ suggested that it was Roxas’ subconscious taking a bit of ‘memory’ from Sora but that doesn’t make sense when Riku tells him that Sora was an only child.
The real reason why they needed Roxas to merge with Sora is because Sora’s memories and Desmond Miles’ memories are not stable. His experience in Castle Oblivion and Namine’s powers only served to widen the gap between the two sets of memories.
Roxas, being both Sora and Desmond as his nobody, is meant to cover the gaps to stabilize him.
When the time came when Roxas and Sora became one, Desmond Miles’ memories go to sleep to stabilize Sora.
It wasn’t what DiZ wanted. He believed Desmond Miles’ memories was necessary for Sora to grow and defeat Organization 13 but they have no idea why Desmond Miles’ memories refused to resurface.
Until…
KH3 happens and everyone remembers Xion.
Because sure, one of the 13 vessels turn out to be Lucy or Clay (or maybe even Cross) but the most they were able to do was tell Sora that he wasn’t the chosen one. Desmond Miles was the chosen one. He just so happened to be a vessel to the real chosen one and Xehanort’s goal had been to awaken Desmond Miles to control Kingdom Hearts because Kingdom Hearts was an ‘artifact’ from another dimension that appeared in their dimension.
And Desmond Miles was an otherwordly soul, the only being that can control Kingdom Hearts.
And the reason why Sora can’t fully remember his life as Desmond Miles?
Because he wasn’t the true vessel.
See…
Desmond’s true vessel wasn’t actually Sora.
It was Ventus.
Sora was a ‘replacement’ because of what happened to Ventus.
And that was why Xion doesn’t have any of Desmond Miles’ memories nor did she ever take his face. She was an imperfect replica so she wasn’t capable of even trying to hold Desmond’s memories in the first place.
Cue Sora having an existential crisis of who he truly was because he was honestly getting on board with the whole idea of being Desmond Miles as well.
#i tried to make it as confusing as kh story#lollol#i don't even know how to tag this anymore#assassin's creed#desmond miles#ask and answer#teecup writes/has a plot#fic idea: assassin's creed#fic idea: crossover#fic idea: kingdom hearts#i guess i should tag at least these two#kh sora#kh roxas#kingdom hearts

As much as I, um, dislike Lea, I think it's so cute how Saïx brought Roxas and Xion back specifically for him.
He made sure that Lea still had friends just in case he perished indefinitely. He was willing to lose himself into darkness forever for Lea, but before that, he hatched a plan with Vexen and Demyx to make sure Roxas and Xion got their bodies back. Like wow babe you really brought back my favs.
And in the Re:mind DLC, he kept reminding (😏) Xion who she was which ultimately made her lose it. Probably made her gain back all those memories she had, and forced her to remember who she was and what her purpose was. Even when he didn't get the whole deal about Xion, he still wanted her around Lea.
He had the most subtle redemption arc in KH3, and his shit was more believable than what the fuck Xehanort had going on 😒
I still feel like they should've shot that nigga Xehanort dead in his face.
But yeah, like sure he didn't apologize (apologies in Japanese games are like,, non-existent), but he did it in his own way.
Like "Hey, I was mean to y'all before and you hated me, but I need you to be there for Lea... So he doesn't cry like a bitch. K thanks. Here's y'all's bodies back."
And Roxas saying something along the lines of "I owe my return to many" and "The people's hearts you think you've won over aren't really on your side" to Xemnas, like sure he could've been talking about the BULK of the real OG13, but his keyblade was pointed DIRECTLY at Saïx.
Ugh it was so subtle.
Anyways, love KH3. Good game :)
Also I love my husband 🥰🥰😘😘

HOLY FUCK (slay the princess spoilers!!)
The Narrator explains that the more you walk away from the cabin the more paths appear that lead to the cabin until its all laid out before you that everywhere you go leads to the cabin its impossible to not get to the cabin (at least as far as you know...) and this visual representation of the meta presence of every possible branching path in slay the princess drawn so clearly is BLOWING MY MIND!!!!
usually with meta it stays purely of the mind in video games its kind of hard to portray the eldritch horror of a consciousness of the "rules" of this universe, everything to do with being 'unchained' in kh, the matrix, the good place does this, cartoons like adventure time do this, a wrinkle in time does this, a game that i can think of that actually does do this is life is strange the ability to time travel and realm jump and if i remember correctly seeing the butterfly itself is showing tangible proof of the butterfly effect and it truly is almost some like deific being exacting these events and forming a connection with max (god that reminds me life is strange is so good i was OBSESSED with it) but with video games its not usually tangible its not a place you can go and see and live in because of modeling and this shows how much being 2d really helps slay the princess in portraying the multiverse the multiselves theuniverse shattering reality bending stuff that is going on and it is SO WELL DONE every piece of art is so beautiful and breathtaking god i love this GAME!!!! (kh has also done this with 2d they established it in khux and worked it out in kh3/the dlc!! 2d rules theres so many anime movies that are "trippy" but its this god i love meta so so much it makes my mind feel good mmm i love stp so much

Some data on the KH fanbase! So, there is currently a Giveaway going on in connection with the release of the Kingdom Hearts series on Steam. The giveaway and has been promoted on the official KH Twitter and whatnot, so it has a large amount of responses so far and likely from a decent range of very casual KH fans, very new fans, very old fans, and very dedicated fans. So the amount of responses and range of this giveaway gives some good solid insight into the fanbase and where it lands with what KH games are their favorite/most liked and what aspects of the series appeals to them most.
This giveaway is still on-going (it has 10 more days left), so these results may vary or change by the end of that period (I'll check again towards the end to see if there is any differences and remark on those in an update to this post).
But, yeah, here is the info we have so far! (Note: the checkmarks are for the choices that I clicked on/went with personally, also these were both multiple choice in response, so you could click on more than one answer to the questions).
Q: Which Kingdom Hearts games are your favorite?

SO! Kingdom Hearts, huh?
Much has been said about this series over it's decades long existence and you've decided that now's your time to get into it. And what a great time for that, you don't even have to buy any extra systems anymore! Still, Kingdom Hearts has a reputation of being, well, kind of a lot!
But now you do want to get into it, and you remember you've heard all sorts of noise about it. Noise like "The series' story is a confusing mess!" or stuff about entries with strange and wordy titles, how KH3 isn't the third game in the series and every title is actually super important, how ~actually~ you need a very high IQ to understand the story, how apartment 'complex' is actually quite simple and clean, so on and so on forever.
And all of that is intimidating! Luckily for you, person reading this, I've got a worryingly large knowledge about this series and a great willingness to help people get on the path and join me in my fungus patch, so from here out in this post I'll do my best to answer some questions and offer a guiding key to help you have as minimally painful an experience as possible while starting out.
(This got long so the rest is under a cut)
So, first of all, what are you even actually gonna be buying?
Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 ReMIX
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind
That's it! Just three games in your Steam cart (or only two if you want to save KH3 for later)! All things considered, this is pretty good value for how much you're getting per thing, though if you want to be safe and see how you like the base gameplay then just get the first entry in the set. You'll have time to get the other ones if you're feeling on board for Mr. Nomura's Wild Ride, and if you don't it won't be a huge loss of munny for you. But as of right now this IS the majority of the series. There's a couple odd-ones-out, but don't worry about that right now.
What you'll do after getting these is this:
Boot up Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 ReMix on whatever you have it on.
Play the titles in the order shown to you by the menu. There's a mild quirk here but I'll get to it in a second.
Once you have played all the content on 1.5+2.5, do the previous step again for 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.
Once that's done, you're ready for KH3+ReMind, so play that one.
And just like that you have played all of Kingdom Hearts! Hopefully you had a good time with it, it'll have been a major time investment that I hope you'd not just bulldozed through all of as fast as possible, because that's a really good way to burn yourself out and probably also miss some things with the story (because your brain is fried and has a suspicious key-shaped hole in it now).
There's probably still some stuff you want an answer or two for though. KH has a lot of quirks and some probable points of frustration for new players, so I'll try and cover most of them. Without increasing the amount of stuff you gotta worry about by a megaton, I hope.
--FAQs--
Q: "What's included in these collections/how many games even is this?"
A: 7 (+1 DLC) games and 3 movies. Most of them are the "Final Mix" versions of the games, which means they're the director's cut and have all kinds of extra fun stuff and story content in them. The movies are essentially just the story information from some of the other titles condensed for you. These ones are not playable games, but you can probably find them ~elsewhere~ to play them, if you catch my drift.
Q: "How should I tackle these games?"
A: In release order. The collections will list the games this way, but if you have any doubts, play the games in order of release. This is the order they were written in, so the order they'll make the most "sense" in and make for the best experience. Since you probably don't want to go googling release dates, the order is this. Movie representations are marked with (m)
Kingdom Hearts -> Chain of Memories -> Kingdom Hearts 2 -> 358/2 Days(m) -> Birth By Sleep -> Coded(m) -> Dream Drop Distance -> Back Cover(m) -> Final Chapter Prologue -> Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind
The series was pretty much written as it went, so there's all sorts of callbacks, plot twists, retcons and all that fun stuff. There IS a chronological order, though, which is different to this list here. For the curious, a chronological timeline of ALL the games in the series looks like this (* for notes):
Back Cover/UnionX -> Dark Road -> Birth By Sleep -> Final Chapter Prologue* -> Kingdom Hearts* -> Chain of Memories + Days* -> Kingdom Hearts 2 -> Coded -> Dream Drop Distance -> Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind -> Melody of Memory
-(* Final Chapter Prologue takes place in the background from when BBS ends until halfway through KH3, sort of. CoM and Days' stories have direct overlap with each other.)
-(* Days is listed on the menu before KH2 for some reason. I don't think anyone knows why this decision was made. Play KH2 before you go ahead and grab your popcorn or set sail on the seven seas for it.)
This is much more confusing, and IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO PLAY THIS WAY AT ALL IF YOU ARE NEW. You certainly could if you really, really wanted, but you will be nothing but horribly confused. Don't to that to yourself, please. If anyone does suggest you do this, DO NOT listen to them, they're sending you down a dark path.
Q: "Wait, ALL of these titles are important?"
A: YES. There is no such thing as a spinoff or non-canon title in Kingdom Hearts. Don't just play KH1 and KH2 and call yourself good, you'll be setting yourself up for some BIG CONFUSION when you boot up KH3 and everyone is talking about stuff you never learned about, with people you have no clue who they are, why you should even be caring about them, or what the hell is even going on!
However, all of the games have some kind of gimmick or two, and some are more…contentious than others. Which ones specifically is subjective, but if you aren't really liking a particular title and how it plays, go ahead and don't play it. BUT!!! Be sure to watch the story content of whichever one it is somehow. Not knowing stuff from another title and being confused on something will not help you have fun, but neither is forcing yourself to play a game you're not vibing with.
A let's play or fan-made cutscene movie will do just fine. They're pretty easy to find these days, lots of 'first time playing' LP's too if you want to watch a fellow newbie play something. I'd recommend an LP over a movie on the merits of getting to see what the gameplay is like. You can judge for yourself if you'd want to give it (another) shot then.
Q: "Isn't the story actually super confusing nonsense? I've heard this one a lot."
A: This is kind of true but also a little exaggerated. Not that different to any long-running series TBH, it's just better when you actually see it yourself instead of someone doing a lore dump that might as well be complete net zero information.
This reputation also stems from the "all these games are important but spread across different platforms for some goddamn reason?" issue, now since solved by the collections, but the general writing is gonna be the way it is no matter what. You'll just have to accept it and let the occasional cringe or cheesy dialogue just wash over you. Keep your disbelief in suspense, the surprise tools the story drops may more resemble cow tools, but they will end up helping later. Eventually. Probably.
Q: "What about Union X? Dark Road? Melody of Memory? Missing Link? Where do these fit in?."
A: I mean, basically don't worry about it, by the time you would start having to think about them you're likely roped in and deep down the rabbit hole anyway. I'll explain anyway, though.
Back Cover is meant to cover most major elements from Union X, and in my experience it served fine for understanding those for KH3 if that's your concern. Union X and Dark Road cover Deep Lore Story Content, and while important in that way, they aren't exactly majorly required IMO. Union X is no longer playable anyway, so you'd be looking at YouTube videos for it. Dark Road is similar (but still playable), and Missing Link is, well, missing right now.
Melody of Memory I don't know much about beyond it not currently off of consoles (Switch PS4 and XBox) and being after KH3. Again if you're this far in you'll check it out somehow so. Don't worry about it.
Q: "Why bother with this series at all, and why should I even care? Especially since it's such a huge investment of my time?"
A: Why do, play, or invest in anything? Because it's fun!! These games have been popular and have a hugely passionate fanbase for a reason. If everyone thought it sucked hugely it couldn'tve had such strong staying power or even gotten as far as it has. If you like Disney, Final Fantasy, real-time action JRPGs, and are at least curious about the story I'd say go for it! It's not a series for everyone, and like said way earlier if you're even a little unsure just get the 1.5+2.5 collection by itself so your investment is relatively minimal.
Q: "Why DO you care so much about if newbies have a good time or not?"
A: Because I like this series and -- somewhat selfishly -- want others to have a good time with it, too. Whether people actually end up liking these games is up to them to decide but I'd at least like to offer help starting off on the right foot, I guess.
Q: "Accessibility for disabled players?"
A: Good question, I'm not actually sure and googling isn't helping me out on this. I found one article but it's about KH3 specifically, I found nothing for any other games in the series.
For the concerned, you may encounter the following things: Fine motor controls for combat, platforming, minigames, as a general gameplay requirement; visuals can often get cluttered with Effects from attacks etc; Dialogue boxes and menus may be hard to read especially during focused gameplay; Donald is Donald and is hard to understand without subtitles.
--!!This Should Help!!--
Game difficulty is a choice before starting, and there are 0 negatives to playing on Beginner. There's even benefits! Only downside is "you don't unlock the secret movie" which is effectively meaningless. Most of them are previews of whatever the 'next' game is anyway.
Ability to 'lock on' to enemies focuses the camera to look/you to attack in that direction. Not applicable to every situation -occasionally can add to confusion if the camera got stuck on something- but useful for orientation at minimum.
Audio cues in general are very present across the game's everything, you WILL know when you're at critical HP and the bosses will make distinct sounds and the same voice line for their big attacks before they do them.
Pausing the game works at any time, even when it won't bring up inventory/options for you. Use this to orient yourself and in KH2 onward you can see reminders/hints during some battles or events.
Shortcuts for items and spells are available, and are highly recommended to be used in general.
Subtitles are present in all cutscenes, as well as field dialogue in later games. Dialogue bubbles for unvoiced scenes usually do not disappear without player input.
If all else fails, guides and walkthroughs are plentiful.
I'll end this off here, I think if I tried to do more that I'd never finish this at all, but feel free to ask any further questions! Be they gameplay questions or about what the hell is going on at some part. I'll be happy to help!

FOR THE ASKS!!!! 20 and 30!! (axel voice TWO?? (i hope its ok that im asking 2)) (also i know the post came out before kh3 dropped but i see it as what would you change/what were your biggest hopes even after its out)
Hey, you could ask all 40 for all i care. i love you.
20. hopes changes for kingdom hearts 3
HOO BOY. well my FIRST change would be to involve all the girls in the story more - kairi not being pushed to the sidelines and having the same involvement in the story as riku did, anti aqua being a real villain or at least aqua's return being less underwhelming, xion being present in the game before the very end, if not as a familiar hooded figure than at least a ghost that haunts sora and co. and keep naminé influencing the events behind the scenes but actually SHOW her doing so instead of revealing it in a dlc
secondly, id give the former nobodies more depth than just switching to the good side now that theyre people again. i dont think axel & the other nobodies should have lost their old nasty habits or messed up morals just like that. it would be interesting if they all were still grappling with that while trying to readjust to life as a former nobody. i would also particularly adjust saïx's story, because honestly his redemption & change of heart just came out of no where to me. i dont mind him being recompleted but it lacked build up and just feels so different from the saïx we saw in previous games. i think he should of appeared in one of the worlds and foreshadowed his redemption instead of it happening out of no where at the end. (also i would return his hair to light blue)
30. favourite unversed
very basic answer but probably floods. they just have such a satisfying creature design and they remind me of my dear nico <3 i also like shoegazer because its very funny to me that its a shoe

🍄 go to a farmer's market (Aqua)
Autumn ask meme The sights and smells of the farmer's market was new to Terra, and not a place he had ever thought of himself going. However, here he was looking at all the produce and walking from stall to stall with Aqua. He was currently at a stall that sold apples, taking a close look at them, they were a bright red in color but there were a few that were green and caught his eye more than the red ones. "Hey Aqua, you interested in an apple if I were to buy a few?" He'd shout towards her, just to make sure she could hear him well.

How could Kingdom Hearts be improved?
So the two big things are "the girls don't do enough as agents of the story" and "consistency of character"
I can use Kairi for an example of both.
KH ReMind DLC - fights off a Real World Xehanort with 13 Keyblades with assistance from boyfriend (assistance is fine, this is a series about friendship)
KH Melody of Memory: Literally has to summon Sora for a final boss fight against a bad memory of Xehanort because fuck her character growth I guess
You cannot have it both ways. Either this character kicks ass and has the ability to support herself or she's a damsel in distress. Flip flopping around her agency and capability in the story just makes the whole thing worse, especially if the whole point of her arc in KH3 is that she's training and becoming more self-sufficient.
Characters can have unprocessed trauma and un-repress memories. The issue with this one specifically is that she is already in her own mind to unlock these flashbacks and the mechanics of the universe allow for literal violence against an agent of her buried memories to be a solution. But no, we cast Summon Boyfriend because it's too much for her to handle and we totally haven't seen evidence of her victory against her fears before. Like shit, if she summoned a memory of Sora to fight WITH HER, I would let this go a little. That shows that she lacks confidence, but that she's willing to fight when she has to.
Let her have a fucking victory. Let her defeat her own problems. Let her be a character.
