Soriku:

Ultimate friends to lovers. They've been best friends since childhood but as they start to grow up, those feelings change into a more romantic nature but neither handles this well. Riku in particular has a whole villain arc about it bc his insecurities about the situation get the better of him, meanwhile Sora isn't self aware enough to recognize his feelings are romantic in nature but he spends all of his time desperately trying to get Riku back so they can be together again. Ultimately even after they come together, their love continues to be a main driving force of the narrative and it's so palpable

Zosan:

They’re rivals yes, but first and foremost they’re best friends. They know each other better than anyone. Sanji asked Zoro to kill him if he’s ever not himself (long story), the implication being that Zoro knows him so well he’d be the first to tell (he would). Your honor, they are friends and they are in love.

Vector to the Heavens:

this track. is just absolutely gorgeous. its a boss version of xion's theme, musique pour la tristesse de xion, and just like that track it uses other character themes, namely kairi and naminé's, and it feels so utterly powerful. its the sort of boss track that makes you not want to fight the boss, but you know you have to.

Memories of the City:

the fucking song of all time this shit drives me feral the fucking moment it plays its so fucking good it feels like home and somewhere far away its soooo goode (<- delusional)

"Two Sides of the Same Coin"- Two things that are regarded as part of the same thing. Even if they're very different, they have at least one common thread that helps them fit into this trope.

"What if you split one person with a tragic past into two people and then they had polar opposite reactions to their shared trauma? The fact that Ventus had a loving family after the split and Vanitas was left behind with the evil scientist was definitely a factor but I find it cool that despite them being ostensibly the same person with most of the same background of fighting in a war, being coerced into murdering someone for their spot on the time travel lifeboat, getting amnesia about it, and then being retraumatized by an old wizard who is hell bent on feeding as many souls as possible into a meat grinder in order to call heaven down to earth, vanitas is a ball of rage who wants to burn everything down so that everyone feels as much pain as him, and Ventus is desperate to internalise everything and forget it ever happened, kind and accepting to a fault."

They are the first ship that comes to mind when I think of friends to lovers. I know Free! hasn't been popular since 2013, bug I just love them so much... Makoto's devotion to Haru. There's even a movie that flashes back to when they're kids when Makoto says "I love swimming and I love Haruka". Soft..
