16. Who stays up way too late and who tries to drag them to bed?

Ah well you see, I don't really see either role being primarily assigned to one - but it does depend on where they are in the relationship 🙂

During the early stages of the relationship, and after Mia permanently moves in, the couple like to go to bed around the same time; but Pio will stay up just a little longer just to hold Mia close and continue to process the fact that she's really here. With him. She's his love, and he is hers, and they are together 💖

After they discover the other world, Mia becomes transfixed on one day seeing it again, and stays up late to stare out of their attic room window for hours on end, in the hopes that she will see it again. And when she discovers that she is pregnant, Mia becomes determined to stay up to show her babies the world that their mummy and daddy discovered 💕 In both of these scenarios, Pio either sits with her until she falls asleep on his shoulder, or gently coaxes her by lifting and carrying her to bed bridal style 🥰🤭

Pio. He caught her eye and instantly fell in love 🤭😊

7. How often do you use references?

Constantly! Whether it’s finding something online or trying to mimic what I’m going for myself. I usually start out by winging it but then just cave 😂

19. What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?

For some reason I can never do animals right. I usually start by following a structure for human heads, but the animal body is uh… 🫠. Some artists I look up to say animals are earlier to draw than humans, and I know everyone is different, but I’m jealous lol

21. Do you like to challenge yourself?

I think with every new art I pump out I’m challenging myself. I always like to try something new, no matter how subtle or how obvious it may seen in the next. I just feel like it helps me improve faster! Especially because I want to head towards animation, I want to do as much as I can with poses/expressions/environment so it seems more natural when I get there. It’s as fun as it is dreading 😭

13. What feedback did you receive for your writing that stuck with you?

One invaluable piece of feedback that has lingered with me since my college days came from my English professor, and it’s a mantra I’ve embraced in both my writing and everyday life: always look for opportunities to grow and improve. I truly value the positive comments and feedback I receive on my fanfiction and other written works, but I know that I must resist the urge to become complacent. Each writing project presents a chance to enhance my skills, whether that involves expanding my vocabulary or daring to explore themes that lie outside my comfort zone. I actively seek out knowledge, from reading helpful tips to delving into the works of other authors, and I strive to integrate those insights into my own writing endeavors.

15. What is your current writing habit?

My current writing habit is to start with a free flow of thoughts, where I write down whatever comes to mind. After that, I revisit my work for several rounds of revisions before I even think about adding it to my current project. I hold myself to a standard of at least four edits; otherwise, I could easily get caught up in the quest for "perfection," which would keep me from making any real progress. Additionally, I aim to dedicate at least thirty minutes each day to writing, and I stretch that to an hour on weekends.

17. Tell us a fun fact about your current WIP.

My current WIP is the first one where I’ve really committed to a structured plot. I'm striving to adhere to the outline, despite my pantser side shaking the bars of its cage and demanding to be extricated. 😂 So far, I feel like the story is developing as I hoped, and it could become my longest piece yet. However, this doesn’t mean I’ll abandon my free-spirited approach entirely. My goal is to find a sweet spot where both sides can work together, resulting in better writing endeavors.

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?

This is hard haha, I don't think I excel in the art of "lines" in terms of impactful writing. Objectively, the best line(s) I've written that brings the narrative together and suits the mood of the story is this from my fic Love Story:

“I’m in love with you, Princess. I always have been.” he sighed. “But you are the flame. I am the stupid moth. If the most beautiful butterflies cannot impress you, how can I?”

My favorite line that I've ever written though is in chapter 8 of I'll Never Let You Go, so I can't quite share that one yet 😆

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

After sharing a fic, I'll read it over pretty often just because it's so fun to see it published. But after a while I'll stop and only return to read again after a few months or years. It's about time I reread Pancake, actually 🤔

🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?

I definitely would love to see I'll Never Let You Go in the form of visual media. It's my biggest and most planned out project with so much potential for stunning space views 🤩 I would love for it to be animated either in a Studio Ghibli-like style or preferably in @elitadream's style ❤️ as for the voice cast, I'll try and break it down but my concept of the character's voices is very hard for me to describe.

I slightly draw Mario’s voice in my head from Manolo in the Book of Life. So if there is an Italian equivalent of Diego Luna, or if he could do a slight Italian accent, that would be ideal 😆

...That's the only specific voice I have in mind. And I don't know a lot of voice actors so you'll have to forgive me haha

For Princess Peach, I might cast Paige O'Hara (the voice of Belle in Beauty and the Beast) or someone who could do an equally sweet voice.

Rosalina would need a very slow and deliberate voice, probably a little lower and more serious with some echo-y effect. I think that Reneé Elise Goldsberry could do it. She played the most badass revolutionary leader in Altered Carbon.

Luigi needs someone a with a bit of range for his antics. He's kind of the comedic relief of the story. I'm not sure why but Steve Carell comes to mind 😂

Toads could be played by anyone who can do the little rasp haha, I don't really think I would have too much of a preference. The Brigade would probably need younger voices though, because in the story they are kind of a young group of admirers for Mario.

Luma would need an extraordinarily delicate and ethereal voice. Childlike and sweet. AURORA comes to mind, but there's probably an actual voice actor out there who could do it.

Bowser could be Jack Black, I think that would be funny to have him play the role again 😂

But yea. That's kinda what I'm thinking. I'm really not one for visual storytelling so it's hard to translate the narrative into something watchable I guess.

Hello everyone, it has been quite a while since I have seen everyone so I hope you all have not worried much.

I just have been traveling from country to country this vacation which brought me less time to be here. I needed the time to relax and feel more charged now. I even reconnected with my family in the country I traveled through and just feel like this summer only had nice offerings. It ended on a bit on a hectic note though when I forgot my phone at the airport 😭. Luckily a family member grabbed it and shipped it to me but you could say my phone had a longer vacation than me 😄.

Okay I have a question for the MerMario AU: would Luigi know about Mario's plan to see the sea witch? Would he go with him to try to stop him? (Kinda like how Flounder and Sebastian followed Ariel) or would he support his decision despite his own misgivings about the whole thing? I have so many questions gah! I really don't know where to start! LOL 😂 I want to learn everything about this AU! I guess this ask is as good a question as any and I am curious what Luigi's presence there would mean for Kammy's plan or if it would just play out the same as in The Little Mermaid.

Well the thing is, Luigi doesn't know Mario is going to meet Kammy - but it all happens by accident.

Mario is pretty down after his fight with Pio (especially after the latter said that he had been dragging Luigi into this 'obsession' long enough), and late that night he goes a little ways out to think things through. How can he stop Bowser from harming Peach and her kingdom? How can anyone not care that Bowser is about to wreak destruction to the surface?!

And then Kammy comes out of the shadows. Mario knows who she is - Kammy was a former resident of Atlantica, after Bowser's first downfall and banishment to the Great Depths. However, Kammy was soon kicked out of Atlantica for clearly showing her allegiance to Bowser, as well as her use of dark magic (which is outlawed in the kingdom).

Knowing this, Mario is more than aware that he shouldn't trust her.

"You are desperate to help them?", she asks. "I can help with that."

There's a lot more to it, and she and Mario both know it. Mario isn't a fool, but he is desperate. He wants to help Peach, as well as the surface and the ocean, but doesn't dare want to get his family involved - let alone allow them to know what he plans to do.

So he follows Kammy to her lair.

Meanwhile Luigi, who has been asleep back in their room, suddenly wakes up with a start, and clutches his moon necklace. Part of the bros' mer-magic is that they can sense where the other is through their bond. It's an unshakable link that has existed since they were born. And Luigi knows Mario is in trouble, and quickly swims as fast as he can towards his brother, desperate to save him before anything terrible happens!

Meanwhile, the scene with Mario and Kammy plays similar to The Little Mermaid, except Mario has to give up his mer magic rather than his voice, which is transferred into his sun necklace and kept by Kammy.

As soon as the spell is done, Mario is overcome by an incredible pain. His lungs suddenly start letting in water rather than air. His tail is split into a pair of legs. It's agonising - and Kammy is doing nothing to help him.

Abd then, just as Mario is about to feel like he's going to suffocate, a flash of green pushes Kammy aside, grabs Mario, and holds him close, as they swim as fast as they can to the surface.

The air is fresh and wonderful on Mario's body. He coughs and gasps as he takes in a lungful of air, and then collapses in exhaustion as Luigi carefully guides them to shore...

And that's that ^^ What follows of course is a similar scene like in the movie, where Mario wakes up on the beach and discovers his legs. The only difference is that he and Luigi have a long overdue talk 😒.

Long story short, Luigi states he's going to help Mario from afar - he's not going anywhere when his big bro needs him!

🦉 Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Depends on the day honestly, but for the most part, I’m a night owl. I’m able to wake up early and naturally (around 7) without an alarm clock, but I don’t like it, so I just stay in bed till 9. 🤣 As for nights, there are days where I’ll be up till 3 AM and not feel a single thing, but other days I’ll be knocked out dead at midnight. My sleep schedule basically said

You have so many absolute bangers to choose from....I automatically know it's you when I think of "Monster" and that's quite high on my favs of yours but I've already said that on a previous ask so Imma have to go with "Posirive Valadiation" cause while seeing Peach some of those rumors to heart hurt, it was even sweeter to see Mario comfort her through those feelings. Also gotta give some love to "The Mayor and The Princess" first fic I've read with Pauline in it and I love it so much 🥰🥰🥰

As for the fics listed, since we already talked about Monster, I'll move on to the others. Positive Validation was fun to write. Peach is my comfort character, so I get annoyed at the criticisms towards her although not as much as I used to. The idea for the fic came from me coming across the same criticisms again one day and I thought to myself, "how would Peach react to them, and how would Mario be there for her after finding out". That one seems to be well-received and gives me some Positive Validation as a writer (sorry, I couldn't resist 🤭).

The Mayor and the Princess was another enjoyable one for me to write. I realized there weren't too many fics centered around Pauline, so I thought it would be a fun challenge to create a series about her interacting with the rest of the Mario cast. Speaking of which, I will probably get to work on the next fic in the series after I'm done with To The Tea. I believe I have one or two chapters left in that one.

I'm glad to see both of these works are among your favorites along with Monster. 🥰

Rather regrettably, I’m beginning to think that practiced ease was probably my magnum opus. That’s it. Show’s over, folks. Thanks for coming. That’s as good as it’s gonna get.

(That feeling is only there because I am once again struggling on a chapter of my longfic. It won’t last. I know that.)
