whats the newest OC youve been working on????
i'm currently working on a dungeon meshi oc... I don't have a whole lot on him right now, so excuse me if some of this info is all over the place bc im typing right off the cuff and coming down from my high his name is Taerot (pronounced as tarot) who's a part of Kabru's party and here's some Real Quick doodles I did of him awhile ago - it shows how he is around Kabru particularly (obviously)..
when he's not around kabru he looks emotionless and mean but inside his head there's a hamster running around at mach speed, especially after meeting kabru. weary of kabru at first because he's a tall-man and of the racial bias around ogres he tends to avoid them unless he absolutely needs to help them (saved Kabru once, didn't expect it to be returned; he was just at the right place at the right time, so its no big deal if he gets any sort of praise). kabru ends up helping him during some dire time and is flustered because he's never been helped so readily by a tall-man, even after having helped them first
#kevplies#oc: taerot#im reading more dungeon meshi and thinking about it like HMMMM... yes this is goo#d.....#kevs oc corner

Cherry Bomb-Hunter Sylvester X Fem OC
-Chapter Two.
Dahlia held Hunter's hand, swinging their intertwined hands as they walked in. Kevin leading the way into Clay's house. Dahlia was still sniffing from the crying session she had in the car.
The house was dimly lit with flashes of colorful lights, the noise of people talking and laughing, the sound of Clay's shitty band playing covers.
"I need a fucking drink," Dahlia pulled Hunter in the direction of the kitchen. Kevin followed close, none of them wanted to get split up since it was a party and they don't go to parties.
Dahlia grabbed one of the plastic red party cups out of the bag and walked over to the keg sitting on the table and poured herself a fair amount then filled the cup Kevin had grabbed. "Sure you don't want any?" Dahlia asked Hunter.
"Nah," Hunter shook his head. He saw the shit that alcohol and drugs did to his mom, hell she left him and his dad for them.
"Okay," Dahlia shrugged and chugged her first cup before pouring herself some more.
They walked out into the living room where Mollycoddle was playing. Dahlia sipped on her beer and leaned into Hunter's tight grip around her waist.
Kevin swayed around like a fucking idiot to the shitty cover of Shape Of You they were playing.
"This fucking blows," Dahlia rolled her eyes.
"Yeah this rules, awesome idea Kev." Hunter sarcastically said to Kevin.
"He said everybody's invited," Kevin looked over at the two.
"He probably meant everybody except for us," Dahlia sighed, taking another big drink from her beer.
"How do they do it?" Kevin looked at Mollycoddle and back at Hunter and Dahlia.
"What are you talking about? This is like three chords and they still can't get it right. They suck. Look at the drummer, he's high out of his mind." Hunter pointed over to Ray, he had a joint loosely hanging out of his mouth.
Kevin took another drink from his beer, "I mean, them, all of them. How did they just do this? Like it's the easiest thing ever." Kevin sighed looking around then finished off his beer, setting it on a random table by them.
"I think you've already had too much to drink, Kev," Dahlia smirked and nestled Kevin's hair, messing it up.
"Okay, listen to me. Things are gonna happen for us. Someday, all these people are gonna be like, Holy shit Kevin Schlieb, Hunter Sylvester, and Dahlia Nix! I went to high school with those guys. I could've even hung out with them, maybe. But it's gonna be too late 'cause we're gonna be too busy hanging out with the guy's from Iron Maiden." Hunter smiled, his hand resting on Kevins shoulder, his other one still snaked around on Dahlia's waist.
Dahlia finished her third beer standing in the same corner as Kevin downed his second.
"Can't keep up there?" Dahlia chuckled to herself feeling tipsy. She leaned into Hunter, her hands going all over him.
"Great," Hunter sighed as Dahlia kissed him on the cheek, her lips moist from the alcohol. Then they switched over to playing a more rock kind of beat song.
"Hunter, it's not that bad, actually, once you get used to it. Seriously." Kevin danced around and danced his way back to the kitchen.
"Come on love," Hunter secured his grip tighter around Dahlia and ushered the drunk girl towards the kitchen.
Kevin grabbed a shot glass full of clear liquid off the table and slammed it.
"Kevin, you should slow down, you've never drank before." Hunter sighed trying to wrestle a beer out of Kevin's hands he had already grabbed.
"Hunter I'm having fun," Kevin started drinking it.
"I need to get you home," Dahlia slurred and ran one of her hands up Hunter's shirt.
"Dahlia stop," Hunter sighed, tugging her hand out and then holding it with his free one.
"Hunter, seriously, our band is gonna be so awesome. I'm gonna practice like five hours a day. I'm gonna be better than Ringo Starr." Kevin put his hand on Hunter's shoulder.
Once Kevin had finished that one off he took another shot then slammed the little plastic cup on the ground, "Whoo! Heavy metal rules!" Kevin pumped his fists in the air!"
"I have to go pee," Kevin tapped Hunter on the shoulder.
"I'm driving both of you home when you're finished." Hunter barked at Kevin as he began to walk away.
"After. After pee-pee." Kevin waved his hand at Hunter.
"No Hunter I don't wanna go home my dads gonna be so pissed if I go home like this." Dahlia slurred hanging onto Hunter's jacket.
"I know I know Dahlia." Hunter sighed, ushering her back into the living room.
"What's happening, man?" Skip grabbed Hunter pulling him into a hallway. Dahlia fell to the ground tripping over Hunter but she got up fast and ran after him.
"Hey, he just called you a dipshit!" Skip pushed Hunter towards another one of his friends.
"No, no!" Hunter pleaded as the other boy grabbed him.
"What did you call me?" the other boy got in Hunter's face.
"I didn't say anything to anybody, I was just talking to my girlfriend. I swear." Hunter pleaded with Skip.
"Yes, you did." Skip smirked and his friends shoved Hunter back over to Skip.
"Really?" Hunter groaned into Skip's face as they came close.
"Really," Skip smirked and pushed Hunter back over.
"Hey ass hole!" Dahlia yelled and when Skip looked at her she punched him in the jaw sending him falling back a few steps.
"Look who decided to show up," Skip got back up and grabbed Hunter by his coat and slammed him into the wall, "You need your little pussy girlfriend to save your ass?"
"Don't talk about her like that," Hunter gritted through his teeth. Skip could say all he wanted about Hunter but as soon as he said anything about Dahlia or Kevin he'd be ready to do what he had to.
"Don't know why a pretty girl like you stays with this loser." Skip looked down at where Dahlia had fallen to the ground via Skip's friends.
Hunter stepped on Skip's foot and Skip threw Hunter into the other room into the wall. Hunter tripped as he hit the wall and fell into Clay's speakers snapping his keyboard in half.
"Hunter!" Dahlia's balance was off from the alcohol running through her veins. She jumped up and ran after Hunter.
"Hey honey are you okay?" Dahlia knelt down by Hunter.
"Yeah just help me up," Hunter groaned in pain. Dahlia grabbed Hunter's hand and tried to pull the larger boy up but she tumbled back into him.
There was nasty feedback as the speakers clashed with the amp noise. One of Clay's band mates pulled the cords out of the amps.
Skip and his friends laughed at Dahlia and Hunter.
"Dude what the fuck?" Clay looked over at Skip then Hunter and Dahlia.
"Are you good, bruh? You two hurt?" Clay walked over to Hunter and Dahlia, "Here let me help you guys up."
"No, no, let me help you!" Hunter jumped up, basically picking Dahlia up with him and wrapped an arm tight around her waist, "Take lessons you guys suck...bruh." Hunter spat at Clay, Kevin pushed through the crowd over to them. The crowd of students all shared a 'oooh'
"I'm sorry that you feel that way. Do you play?" Clay asked Hunter.
"Yeah, I have a band. Me and my friend over here. A real band." Hunter let go of Dahlia and grabbed Kevin, pulling him over, "A serious band. Not like you fucktards!" The crowd erupted in laughs and shared looks and comments.
Dahlia looked up at Hunter and ran her hand through her long pink hair.
"Got it. Um, I guess we'll be seeing you at the battle of the bands then." Clay nodded.
"There hasn't been a Battle of the Bands since Dave Migdall hung brain on stage." Hunter raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"There is this year. Go sign up with Dean Swanson but maybe don't say fucktard cause' she's a special olympics ambassador." Hunter smirked and Dahlia rolled her eyes. The crowd all laughed at Hunter and sighed.
"Come on," Hunter threw an arm around Dahlia's shoulder and pushed Kevin towards the door. Guiding his two drunk as shit friends out of the party.
"Alright guys let's keep this party going!" Clay yelled and everyone cheered.
"Give me your keys," Hunter held his free hand out at Kevin, "Come on Kev."
Kevin handed Hunter his keys and Hunter snatched them out of his hand.
Then Kevin vomited, he gagged then vomited on himself.
"Okay let's go," Hunter sighed in defeat and grabbed Kevin's arm again.
"Ew, I swear if you smell like puke the whole way home," Dahlia slurred.
"Just don't puke in the car, either of you." Hunter sighed as they walked to Kevin's car parked on the street.
Dahlia walked out of Hunter's bathroom drying her glasses on her shirt.
"Hunter is Doctor in bed already?" Dahlia asked as she stopped in the middle of the room making sure her glasses were clean.
"Yeah, he's right here." Hunter yawned, Dahlia looked over and Kevin was passed the fuck out on Hunters couch.
"Hunter is not going to be having a nice time tomorrow when he wakes up hungover. At least it'll be Saturday." Dahlia slighted and climbed into bed next to Hunter. Doctor cuddled into Dahlia as soon as she laid down.
"Hey little dude," she smiled and gave him a few scratches.
"Me and Kevin are going to fucking crush battle of the bands," Hunter smiled looking over at Dahlia.
"Yeah, I mean I definitely think if you guys practice more you have a chance." Dahlia smiled and gave Hunter a peck on the lips. Then rolled onto her stomach to sleep.
"I think we need a bass player. Lover, can you play bass." Hunter asked her running a hand down the braid she had.
"No, now I'm going to bed, I love you Hunter." she yawned.
"Night, love you Dahlia." Hunter sighed and covered Doctor up with a throw blanket and got himself situated in bed.
Tonight had been a fucking mess. Hopefully it would get better though, he just hated the way Skip thought he could talk to him and Dahlia and Kevin. He'd put that ass hole in his place at some point. But for now: Take down Clay's stupid band.

lost and found chapter 3/8
Summary: When a case leads to a string of misunderstandings that accumulate into Mouse turning up missing, it’s up to the Intelligence Unit and the rest of the 21st District to get him back. But they’re up against a ransom they have no way of paying, the only people who could help being uncooperative, and a ticking clock.
Warnings: implied/referenced homophobia, kidnapping, referenced past drug addiction
Words: 24,038 (so far)
Mouse + team with emphasis on Mouse + Kim + Trudy (affectionately “the Platt fam”), some mentions of one-sided Moustead pining, background OCs
Sneak Peek:
The bullpen was quiet when Jay settled in at his desk, burnt coffee in hand while he booted up his computer. It was still early enough that no one else was in yet - besides Voight, but his office door was closed, and he wasn't stupid enough to disturb whatever was going on inside. Instead, he took the time to finish his coffee and tried to relax in his seat. There were no updates about the case waiting for him, which meant Blakely had never returned to the address they had on file during the night, and he should be looking into other leads to try to track down their only suspect. But his goal for the morning was to make it downstairs and clear the air from the day before, especially if the case didn’t have any pressing updates.
If there was nothing he could do when it came to his work, then he could focus on repairing things with his best friend.
Before he could even get up out of his seat to wash out his mug, there were footsteps on the stairs, and voices carrying with them. Neither of them belonged to the person he wanted to talk to the most, but it would probably take more explaining than he was willing to put up with to try to slip out when they rounded the corner.
"Adam, you're being ridiculous."
"Am I being ridiculous? Because you just told me that you asked her if she was seeing anyone, she said, and I'm quoting you here, Kev - technically no - and then she left to go pick him up?"
"They carpool every day. Why are you making such a big deal about this?"
"I'm not making a big deal out of it. Oh, Jay! You don't think I'm overreacting, do you?"
The question made him pause, halfway to a standing position and aimed toward the breakroom. There wasn't really a lot of wiggle room in his morning when he considered everything he wanted to get handled, and getting dragged into the same ridiculous conversation from the previous afternoon didn't really fit into his schedule. "I do, actually. I think you're overreacting and a conspiracy theorist. I already told you they're not dating."

Domestic Bliss
Domestic Bliss//////Spencer x Fem!OC
Summary: Spencer figures out that Aria's relationship has turned abusive and starts trying to help her (First person)
Tw: domestic violence, physical abuse, mild description of gore (anything else that can be applied to the show lol)
I see the bruise, I see the truth
I see what he's been doin' to you
Blood on the shoes, what's his excuse?
He say he doin' some new kung fu
You always use his bullshit excuse
But I see what he's been doin' to you
There was no point in trying to hide it anymore. No matter how many different techniques I knew about makeup, this was still there. Raw, fresh, and now very irritated. It was getting harder to hide this and I couldn’t do it anymore. So why can’t I leave? Why am I at my job so early in the morning when I know he’ll lose his shit on me when I get home for not being there. I tried my best, but I settled for a bandage instead. I can just make something up. I’m already accident prone. I start on some paperwork, trying to take my mind off things.
I technically wouldn’t have any issues leaving. Think about it realistically. I literally work in a department to help these kinds of situations. It would be so easy to just tell Hotch or Rossi and go into witness protection. I could stop my checks so he wouldn’t be able to use my card. I wouldn’t have a home… My mother won’t take me back; she loves him more than me.
My thoughts are interrupted when I hear Spencer setting a cup of coffee down next to me.
“Hey… Donovan… what happened?” I shook my head at him.
“I burned it with a straightener.” No. You were so close to telling him that bastard put his cigarette out on your face. About how he… No. Not now if Spencer’s here it means everyone else will be.
When everyone got there and Hotch pulled everyone in for briefing I breathed a sigh of relief. It was a case, all the way in Colorado. I sat and listened to anyone, but had nothing to offer, opting to just take notes instead. I called him on the way to the plane, knowing he wouldn’t answer.
“Please leave a message after the tone”
“Hey, Kev. It’s me um. Our case is out of state so I’m going to be gone for a few days. Reception might be spotty but I…” I choked a little. “I will call to check in when I can.” I hung up and turned my phone off as we pulled up to the jet. I felt Spencer’s eyes on me, but I couldn’t dare meet them. I just took my usual seat in the back corner, tucking myself against the window. Even if this was only for a couple days it could really give me the break I need. Maybe that’s what we both need. He’s much nicer after I’ve been gone for a while. It reminds me of the first couple years we were together. Back when he still called me pet names like, sugar or bunny. I shut my eyes, trying to get some rest. Everything would be fine.
Why'd you put up with that shit?
Why'd you go back for that kiss?
Maybe it tastes like him
When you got tears in your lips
Why'd you put up with that shit?
Why don't we pack and leave this?
Why do you smile when he cries?
Why do you cry when he wins?

Third pov
Spencer set his things down, in his usual seat next to Aria, and moved to sit with the group at the table.
“So is anyone else going to acknowledge it too?” His voice was quiet and everyone else had solemn expressions on their faces.
“Look… as much as I want to do something, you know as well as I do that getting involved before she’s ready could be even more dangerous.” Rossi’s voice was quiet, anger lacing his words.
“We’re going back to her hometown. Her mother is there, we could-” Derek cut him off.
“Reid. This is a part of keeping her safe. We can’t corner her like that; she'll associate it with whatever he’s doing at home and slip into a trauma response.” Emily stayed silently, Looking over at her, sleeping and tucked away under Spencer’s cardigan.
Hotch had been in the opposite corner, watching the team. “We do have a ‘No Profiling’ rule on each other.” Spencer’s face fell, guilt ridden in his eyes. “But we can bend the rules a little. Her behavior has indicated it’s only getting worse. It’s a matter of time before he snaps and kills her.” Hotch knew the severity of the situation all too well. Derek had seen his sister go through that and now he was seeing another sister hide it.
“It would be best if Garcia approached her about it.” Everyone looked over at Emily, who had been quiet until now. “The two of them are close and she’s the only one out of us who's actually spent time around him.” She was trying to sound rational, but she knew Penelope had a tenderness they didn’t quite understand.
***************************************************************************************
Aria
I felt a warm hand on my shoulder, and opened my eyes to see Reid’s dark red cardigan on me, his touch gentle.
“Hey we landed.” He grabs my bag, along with his, and gets off the plane with everyone else.
I got off and slid into the passenger seat of the car Hotch was driving, Spencer climbing into the seat behind him, he had such a cute clueless expression on his face. Poor thing never really liked change.
“Hotch, I need a favor to ask of you.” I kept my voice low, but I knew Spencer and Derek would hear it anyway. Hotch titled his ear towards me, the silent indicator that he was listening. “Since we’ll be in town, I’d like to take a couple hours for some personal business.” He nodded knowingly, like he always does.
Fight for me
We can leave, I'm beggin'
Please, on my, on my knees
Go to Hawaii
Fight for me
Said we can leave, I'm beggin'
Please, on my, on my knees
Hawa-hawaii
“That’s okay. But I want your head in case at all working times.” You nodded, and settled in for the long car ride from the airport to Granby Ranch.
I did attempt to call Kevin when we arrived, but the cell service had always been awful out here.
When we pulled up to the ranch, the first thing I noticed was the sculpture at the entrance had been damaged. We got out of the Jeep and Hotch went directly to talk to the County police. I stepped towards the crime scene, taking a look at everything. Right in the edge of the woods. Man this was getting creepy. A voice behind me registers as Spencer’s but my mind is racing. There was blood everywhere. The trees were lined, reaching as high as 6 feet. I step further, slipping on a pair of gloves before I stop dead in my tracks.
“Hey… Um… did they miss a body in the initial report?” It was like a bad car crash. I couldn’t look away from her mangled body. This was definitely not a wild animal. I doubt any Elk or bear could make a clean cut like that. The world started spinning the longer I stared and just as I was expecting to hit the hard ground I felt something soft and warm.
You got balloons
New flowers too
Last one's dyin' in your bedroom
He's squeezin' you
Blame-blaming you
Mama just usin' her red perfume
“Donovan. Hey, hey you have to wake up.” Spencer's voice is warm above me, nurturing almost. It doesn’t take long for my ears to ring and for my hearing to drop.
When I’m fully conscious, there’s a bright light in my eye. I blink slowly, trying to shield my face.
“Oh Aria, thank god.” Rossi is above me, putting the flashlight away, and I feel a warm hand on my cheek. I tilt my eyes and realize I’m in Spencer’s lap, furiously blushing. “Do you know where you are right now?” Spencer’s voice is soft above me and I wrack my memory. The second I close my eyes I’m looking at that poor woman’s dismembered head again and I stifle a scream. “Hey, hey take it easy. You need to move slowly.” Spencer’s hand on my shoulder is a warm reminder. I’m okay. Rossi and Spencer slowly helped me up. Hotch sent Spencer, Derek, and I to the police station in Frasier, where they had set up shop. With me driving, we pulled up in 15 minutes. Granted, they both were pale, but they weren’t dead.
Eventually we started piecing everything together. It was 8 pm when Kevin called me.
I answered, putting him on speaker so I could continue working. “Hey Kev.”
“Don’t fucking Hey Kev me. Where are you?” I was really glad Derek and Spencer had left the room.
“I called you earlier before we left but it went to voicemail. Did you not get my message?”
“You know what I’m fucking asking you. Don’t be a bitch to me.”
“I’m in Wyoming in the mountains.” Lie. Don’t give yourself away. “Kevin, I have work to do.”
“Fine but don’t expect anything from me when you get back. Lying bitch.” He spit the words at me like venom before the line clicked off. I closed my phone. Whatever God or Gods existed in this universe surely wouldn’t let me stay like this… but it had been 3 years now. I had to do it myself. I couldn’t rely on anyone else.
Domestic bliss
I know how bad you wanted it
Why'd you put up with that shit?
Why'd you go back for that kiss?
Maybe it tastes like him
When you got tears in your lips
Why'd you put up with that shit?
Why don't we pack and leave this?
Why do you smile when he cries?
Why do you cry when he wins?
“Aria?” Spencer’s face had fallen. I didn’t realize I was crying. “Hey… is everything okay?” He slid into the seat next to me, his hand on my knee. I shook my head, and just leaned into him. “I’m here for you. You know that right? You’re not alone.” I didn’t say anything, just letting myself sink further.
“I don’t think you’re much help like this Donovan.” Derek put his hand on my shoulder. “Why don’t you and Reid go get checked in. I’m sure everyone will follow shortly.” I nodded, walking out of the station with Spencer, and climbing into the passenger seat of the SUV, letting him take the helm. I closed my eyes and rested against the window of the door.
I think I vaguely remember him getting a bag of food on the way, but I couldn’t pay attention. There was too much going on. Spencer woke me up gently, letting me get my bearings before heading inside.
“Here’s your room keys. You’ll both be in 117.” My jaw almost fell to the floor. Crap there was no way this would end out okay. He’s gonna find out and he’ll get hurt trying to help me.
Spencer thanked her, and we went to our room, The door clicking softly behind us.
“Aria… I need to talk to you.” I sat on one of the beds, staking my claim, taking my shoes off. “I know Kevin is abusing you.” I stared at him for a minute, unblinking. His voice was soft, and he knelt in front of me, wiping away the tears that came. “I need to know how to help you. Please. I can’t see you like this anymore.” The floodgates opened and I threw myself around him, his hands lacing into my hair.
“Please… Don’t make me go back. I can’t do it anymore.” I feel his hand push down my sweater, the various bruises and scabs littered my collarbone and his face fell.
Fight for me
We can leave, I'm beggin'
Please, on my, on my knees
Go to Hawaii
Fight for me
Said we can leave, I'm beggin'
Please, on my, on my knees

“Aria… I’m going to kill him.” I’ve never seen him this upset. “He won’t get away with hurting the person I love like this.” He met my eyes realizing he said that out loud.
“Spencer…” He pulled me into him for a kiss, sweet and tender just like him. “I love you too…”
Spencer’s hands never left me, pulling me into bed with him, pulling me close. He littered my back and shoulder with kisses, being extra careful around my bruises.
The next morning we wrapped up the profile, my phone staying off. Spencer never left my side.
It took another day or two to catch the guy. He’d been dating all the victims and playing them off of each other. I hated that I drew the comparisons to Kevin, and now that the case was over, I had to face him again…
Spencer and I packed our hotel room, and he agreed to come with me to see my mom
I knocked on the door, and he squeezed my hand quickly, letting go as the door opened.
“Hi mom.”
“Oh baby hi. What are you doing here? Where’s that sweet Kevin.”
“Actually, that’s why I’m here. Can I come inside?” She stepped aside to let us through, pulling out the coffee mugs and pouring us both a cup from the freshly made pot.
“What’s going on honeybee?” She leaned back in her chair, sipping her coffee.
“I don’t know how to tell you this so I figured I’d just show you.” I shrugged my jacket off for the first time in days around someone, the bruises covering almost every surface of my arms and shoulders, various scabbing in areas.
“Oh honey. I told you you need to quit this job. You’re hurting yourself.” I tried not to sound too annoyed.
“No ma. It’s Kevin… He’s been abusing me for 3 years now.” Her eyes widened.
“Aria you will not lie in this house.”
“Ma’am it’s not a lie.” Spencer spoke to her, not even introducing himself. “If you heard the things he says to her over the phone, you would know she isn’t lying.”
“You both need to leave.” Mom stood up and snatched the mugs away retreating to the kitchen. “You’re a disgrace.” I sighed, and grabbed Spencer’s hand, walking to the door.
“I guess that makes two of us. Have a good life mom. I hope you’re not so lonely with Kevin in it.” I closed the door without another word, basically running with Spencer to the SUV.
My God, I'll be right in
A trickle of lighting
I knew before I heard
I felt in my skin
My God, I'll be right in
A trickle of lighting
I knew before I heard
I felt in my skin
The phone call with Penelope was rough. She was crying more than I was, but within minutes she confirmed there was now a protection order in place, and that the police were detaining him for the night so I could gather my things.
“You can stay with me.” Spencer’s hand was soft on mine, and I nodded, falling asleep on his shoulder on the jet ride home. All of the guys insisted on coming with me to my old apartment, on the off chance he was still there, so as soon as we finished the last bit of paperwork, Rossi, Hotch, and Derek all followed me over. It was quiet when we entered, my cat trotting over, meowing at me.
“Looks like he trashed the place before they took him.” Derek flipped over a cracked photo frame, and Spencer picked up the black fluffy void, her purring as loud as a lawn mower. Rossi helped me pack my clothes in a bag, and Hotch grabbed various things of mine from the shelf for a box, everything he deemed important, while Derek stole all the batteries out of the electronics, and took all the food and alcohol out of the cabinets, leaving behind only sugar, flour, and ketchup.
Spencer helped me gather the cat’s things and helped me take them to the car. When we got back up I heard Kevin shouting. Spencer pushed me behind him walking into the living room.
“You have no right to be packing her things. She can’t leave me, I'm the only one she has left.”
“Obviously that’s a lie.” Spencer’s comment made everyone stop and stare at him. “She has 4 people who are here to clearly collect her things and protect her from you. Where is your support Kev?” I never heard him speak like that, my hands were gripping his cardigan so tightly my knuckles were white. Rossi and Hotch pushed past him with the last of my boxes, Rossi taking me by the hand and leading me out.
Spencer turned and Derek put the final nail in the coffin, knocking a photo off the wall, while making eye contact with him.
He didn’t try to come after me. He didn’t acknowledge my existence, and he let me leave.
The guys dropped everything off at Spencer’s with me, Birdie immediately making herself at home on his sofa, her face buried in her long black fur.

Ending/Beginning
For the enemies to lovers square on @girl-next-door-writes make me feel bingo
Inspired by the show revolution (sort of) y'all I'm nervous AF to post this cause it's reader x OC but i hope y'all like it
Word count: 10,247 it long
Warnings: Cursing, violence
The apocalypse, the end of the world. Everything as it was known coming to an end. No matter how you wanted to describe it that time was now. You never would’ve dreamed that the end of the world wouldn’t have been fire or ice. No the world ended a lot quieter than that. No dead rose, no monsters crawled out of hell. Electricity simply went away, all the power sources that ran everything went off grid. You watched as the world slowly plummeted into turmoil. You had your group, all of you would fight to the death for each other, you believed that somehow humanity could survive the problem was not every group believed as yours did.Good and evil, things that at one time had clearly been black and white were now washed in shades of grey.
You were on guard duty, walking the length of the walls that surrounded the compound you called home. A team had left a few days before and had yet to return. You were getting more anxious as the days drug on. You finally spotted movement towards the east and ran quietly along the wall so as to not bring any alert to anyone walking below. When you spotted the group missing some of its main members breach the treeline you felt the knot in the pit of your stomach double in size. “OPEN THE GATES” you screamed quickly climbing down the ladder running the moment your boots hit the dirt to meet the horses as they came inside. “Where are they?” you asked Sam before he ever got the chance to dismount. Your eyes flicked across the group that were with him clocking the injuries on each person, Sam included. You’d grown up with the Winchesters brothers, all three of you practically being raised by Bobby They were the closest thing to family you had and Dean’s absence along with Charlie’s and Garth’s was glaringly obvious to anyone.
“We were ambushed. They took them and left a message for Bobby” he explained coming to stand next to you before handing his horse off to someone else so they could see to it that the animals all of you had come to rely on was taken care of. “Which is?” you pushed but he glanced around at the growing crowd “Not here, come with me” you followed him through the compound not falling behind despite his height advantage on you. You had a feeling what fate had befallen your friends and the rage gnawing at you was growing larger every second that passed.
When Sam grabbed your arm and pulled you into Bobby’s quarters he glanced up from cleaning a gun and smiled when he saw the two of you but his face quickly fell when he realized Dean was not in tow and that Sam had visible injuries. “What happened?” he asked and you cut your eyes at Sam silently echoing the same question. “Kaper’s men. They found out about the power core” “SON OF A BITCH” you growled kicking a chair across the floor.
Josiah Kaper was about the furthest you could get from Bobby as a leader went. Where Bobby was trying to push for a way for humanity to somehow dig itself out from under the shit show that had developed in the world Josiah wanted nothing more than to find a way to benefit from it.
He had three sons David the oldest who from your run-ins with him honestly didn’t want to be associated with his father’s name he’d even helped you out of a tight spot years back when everything started falling apart in the world. Then was the middle son Jonah who was ruthless and heartless. You had a scar running the length of your left arm from the only run-in you’d ever had with him. Had Dean not been so quick on the trigger you wouldn’t have walked away, a few members of your group hadn’t. Dante the youngest son who was closest to your age you’d never had any run-ins with but this attack was personal. Bobby wanted the power core to develop a better hospital system. You’d lost a few people simply for the fact that without any power source the doctors you had didn’t have the equipment they needed to perform some surgeries. Not to mention having to stay off the radar of the militia, didn’t want any of them getting it in their heads that your group had anything they may want.
Dean had figured out a few alternatives but even the best mind couldn’t solve everything on it’s own. Josiah on the other hand, you could only imagine what he wanted with the core.
“Give me a team, we’ll get them back without having to deal with Josiah” You spoke without a second thought. Either of the three they’d taken would come for you so you owed it to them. “What’s your plan?” Bobby asked so you shrugged “They know I’m one of yours, same as Sam and Dean. Makes a bullseye on me so I play decoy while my team locates and releases Dean, Charlie and Garth” “And if they manage to get their hands on you too?” Sam questioned so you shot him a wink “Oh ye of little faith. Don’t worry Sammy they’ll never get close enough to lay a finger on me” Bobby stared you down for what felt like an eternity before nodding “Ok but sweetheart do me a favor?” “Yes sir?” you asked so he half smiled “Make it back in one piece”
"I'm coming with you" Sam spoke and you shook your head motioning to the visible marks on him "No you're gonna go to medical and get checked over. I'm going to go poke around and see if the ones I have in mind for this are up to it, I have no doubt they will be but I still give them the courtesy of asking"
------
You knew Alicia and Max would be at the front of the line to volunteer to go as soon as word spread. They had long since been your best friends and considering Charlie was Alicia’s girlfriend there would have been no leaving the twins behind even if they hadn’t been on your top pick to go.
Kevin and Claire were easy picks as well. Kevin, that damn kid you swore could blow up a mountain with some baking soda and vinegar. As fair as for Claire there hadn’t been a lock you met she couldn’t get through fast and easy. Rounding out your band of misfits as Bobby so lovingly called you all was Benny. He was a big dude, a damn good fighter and not scared of a lot.
“So what’s the plan?” Sam asked looking at the map you’d spread out across the table in his and Eileen’s quarters. “I know Kaper and I know Dean. If they’re managing to actually hold him, Garth and Charlie, it's gotta be here” you pointed to a building near the northern wall of Josiah’s compound. “The problem is where as we as a group try to steer clear of the militia, he supplies them with pretty much anything they want to look the other way on him pilfering anything he can from the old power sources that’s been uncovered where the rest of us are barely scraping” “So you’re looking at the possibility of heavy firepower” Eileen guessed and you nodded glancing up to make sure you were facing her as you spoke “That’s where I come in. I draw their fire so to speak here” you pointed to the end of the compound furthest from the building you suspected your people were being held in. “By yourself?” she questioned and you knew she didn’t like your plan anymore than Sam or Bobby had. “I’ll be fine Eileen. I promise. By the time they realize I’m there everyone else will be in position. Once they have our people I’ll draw them out further and chunk a few of Kevin’s presents out amongst their ranks just to stir some fun up”
“And if something happens to block your path back around to meet up with everyone else?” Sam asked so you shrugged nonchalantly “Well I can honestly say I will make em earn it and I fully expect the lot of you to give em hell in return” “You’re insane” Eileen reasoned and you smiled at her “That, my dear is part of my charm!”
-------
Kaper’s compound wasn’t set up much differently than the one all of you lived in, the only difference being where when your compound was first established you went for the comfort of the many while it was clear Josiah went for the comfort of himself. His people had well enough living quarters but the building in the center was twice as plush as everyone else’s and while there were guards on their walls the same as yours he also had guards in front of his quarters.
The cement building against the northern corner of the wall was where they kept prisoners. There had been more than one scouting mission around Kaper’s compound to have a basic understanding of what was where. Luckily for your group there was a series of caves not far from the compound that could offer you shelter off the main road while you strategized one final time before actually putting your plan into action.
------
You tied your horse Helios at the head of the cave then walked deeper in where Benny had built a low fire. He was crouched down looking at the map you’d gotten Alex to sketch out. “Tell me this plan one more time” You could feel the twins and Claire watching you when Benny spoke. Kevin was doing some final touches to his part of the plan so he was preoccupied. You squatted next to Benny and pointed towards the prisoner quarters.
“That’s where they’ll have Dean, Charlie and Garth” he nodded so you then pointed towards the eastern gate that was closest to Josiah’s quarters “I’m going to get their attention here, draw the main guards out. I’ll use a few of Kev’s low grade toys so as to cause more chaos than actual loss of life, just enough to make everyone look at me. In the meantime all of you will head in over here” you pointed towards where the western and northern wall met “There’s a weak spot unless they’ve fixed it in the last month which I seriously doubt. Even if they did, Kev has a corrosive to make a hole big enough for all of you to slip in, find our people and get the hell out” “Promise me one thing though darling?” he asked so you tilted your head to look at him “Name it Lafitte”
“If something goes south where you’re concerned wait for me at the gate because the moment Dean finds out I agreed to let you do this I won’t be far behind” You offered him a small smile “Oh come on now he won’t kill ya” he raised an eyebrow that was clearly a nonverbal way of disagreeing but Kevin walked over about that time and handed you a canvas bag “The pipe bombs won’t cause a lot of damage but if you get in a tight spot grab a few of the round ones and chunk em. They’ll take out anything within a ten foot blast zone” You thanked him then stood up and glanced around. Claire held your gaze for a moment while both twins gave you a sharp nod “I’m not one for rousing speeches so I’ll just say wish me luck and remember if all else fails give em hell and make em earn it”
Claire rolled her eyes “Christ Y/N, Dean gives better pre-fight speeches than that!” you shrugged “And that is why I’m going to get him back”
------
You stopped at the perimeter of the treeline that was your last bit of cover before the guards would spot you. You and Benny had agreed on a five minute mark to make sure they were in place. You pulled the old wind up pocket watch out of your jeans and glanced to see it had been exactly five minutes. Well now or never.
You clicked your tongue and Helios trotted forward. The guards spotted you the moment you left the cover of the trees and hollered “STOP THERE. WHAT’S YOUR BUSINESS?” you stopped but slid your hand into the canvas bag “I CAME TO DELIVER A MESSAGE” you lit the first pipe bomb and chunked it over the wall. It landed at the first guard’s feet causing him to topple backwards down to the dirt.
The guards and inhabitants of the compound went into a flurry of motion so you rode down the wall throwing just enough pipe bombs over to ensure every guard was paying attention to the “threat” at the eastern wall and not the rescue party at the northwestern wall.
Once the gates opened and guards started pouring out, some on foot but most on horseback you lit one more pipe bomb and threw it in their general direction before hollering “CATCH ME IF YOU CAN ASSHOLES” then clicked your tongue again gently kicking Helios' sides as she took off at a gallop for the trees hearing the shouts of the guards following you. ‘Good keep all your eyes on me’ you thought to yourself as you leaned down closer to Helios to avoid limbs that were threatening to whip across your face as you rode deeper into the woods.
------
Benny and Claire had told you they didn’t need longer than eight minutes to get in, find your people and get out. Of course playing a game of solo mouse versus about twenty guards who were the cats was easier said than done.
Helios went around a tree and muscle memory alone was the only thing keeping you on her back. You fumbled for the watch again and saw six minutes had passed. Christ you still had two more minutes to keep them close enough that they would stay in pursuit but far enough that they couldn’t catch you.
You were getting close to the lake that was nearby so you headed in that direction. You had two pipe bombs left in the bag and two of those round ones for a tight spot as Kevin had put it. When you got close to the water’s edge you slowed her enough to let the guards catch up slightly and muttered a prayer under your breath before throwing one of the round ones into the water’s edge then kicked her sides again. She tore out in a gallop and you could feel the water from the blast hit your back followed by a lot of cursing. From the sounds of it you hadn’t killed anyone but you’d discouraged their chase and hopefully disoriented them enough that by the time they got back to the compound the smoke would have cleared.
------
Dark was falling and they’d never attempt to go after all of you once it fell completely. You had the advantage, your people were more used to the dark than Kaper’s because you only used the power sources you had sparingly. Your plan was to double back around to the caves where everyone was waiting for you. Benny was under strict orders that if you weren’t there within ten minutes of them arriving to knock Dean out if need be to make him leave you behind.
You didn’t expect to see a lone rider waiting not far from the lake. You thought your eyes were playing tricks on you when the large black horse first moved, thinking it was a trick of the light and a shadow. A horse that size shouldn’t move that quietly.
You clicked your tongue and tugged the reins in the opposite direction but when Helios pitched the other way the black horse simply gave chase. Shit who the hell was that? You could hear your heart beating in your ears. You had no choice but to lead whoever it was away from your people. There was no telling the shape everyone was in considering if they managed to keep those three contained they may have even gone to the extent of drugging them.
You had to slow when you got into the thicket of the woods because in the lowering light you could barely see where you were going. You felt something hit your left shoulder hard a half second before you were falling from Helios trying to brace yourself against the shock of the fall. You grunted when you hit the dirt then rolled to be in more of a defensive posture. You could hear the other horse slow before the sound of boots hitting the dirt hard met your ears.
You clicked your tongue trying to get Helios to circle around but before you could get back onto her you heard someone say “I’ll be damned, a woman did all that?” you spun to face the voice and cursed when you saw the gun pointed loosely in your direction. He was a couple inches taller than you, nice athletic built and clearly a fighter. There was still enough light you could make out the bit of stubble gracing his jaw line and the way his eyes held you made you fight the urge to look away. There was something vaguely familiar about him.Hell had he not been pointing a gun at you and from Kaper’s group you would’ve called him attractive but at the moment he simply had a target on him for you to figure out how to get out of this spot with both of you still breathing.
“And to think we’re called the weaker sex?” you replied with a defiant tilt of your head despite the fact that his gun was out and pointed and yours was still resting at your lower back. He chuckled slightly “You’re one of Singer’s. Y/N isn't it?” you smiled and held your arms out “How can you say that for certain that I'm not just simply a thief that happened along at an opportune time?” “Because I know for a fact that Dean Winchester along with two more of Singer’s group was in our grasp”
It suddenly hit you why the man across from you looked vaguely familiar “You’re Kaper's other son” he nodded slowly “Dante Kaper at your service sweetheart” You narrowed your eyes at him “Stow the sweetheart bullshit. I’ve got a scar from your brother and I was one of the lucky ones that day. I know the type of man you are” He nodded then motioned to his horse with the gun in his hand “Well in that case why don’t you hop on up there?”
“Kill me first, that’s the only way” He reached out to grab your arm and you let him because you knew getting close enough was your only chance of getting free. He pulled you back against his chest “I don’t want to hurt you but the same way that your people hate mine, you just blew up half our wall and knocked most of my guards on their ass” “Oh well” you muttered before throwing your elbow back as hard as you could at his midsection and was rewarded with the sound of his gun being dropped to the dirt as a grunt left him “Should’ve known it’d be a hand to hand thing”
You spun around to face him and narrowly avoided his return blow. You swung on him but he caught your arm then swept your legs out from under you when you went down you managed to kick your leg out as soon as your back hit the dirt and it connected with his leg. “Son of a bitch” you groaned, pushing yourself to your feet. You started to make a run for it but Dante recovered faster than you would’ve hoped. He was on his feet and grabbing you before you could make it two steps.
The moment he spun you around to face him you swung and connected a solid punch to his jaw. He staggered just a moment then kicked out and managed to connect with your stomach. You went with the blow letting your own momentum take you down. You were counting on his arrogance being his downfall and that proved to ring true when he came to stand over you “Guess you can’t hang with the men huh sweetheart?” “Don’t you wish” you replied, kicking out hard to catch him dead center in the crotch. The moment he went down to his knees you took off running and whistled for Helios. She came running up so you hoisted yourself onto her back “Let’s go” she galloped away and you could barely hear the hollered curses from Dante as he faded from your sight.
------
When you got closer to the caves you checked the time that had passed and cursed under your breath. God if they had to knock Dean out to get him to leave you behind it was going to get really messy when he came to.
You slowed Helios down to a trot and whistled the tune you and Benny always used when you were on the same team. After a few seconds you heard the whistle repeated so you urged her forward.
You hopped down at the head of the cave and saw the other horses tied up. You tied her next to Claire’s horse then walked into the cave entrance. The moment you came into view you were snatched into a hug from Charlie. “Y/N!” you couldn’t help but smile at seeing her mostly unscathed. There were clear signs of the fight when they’d been taken but beyond that it appeared as though Kaper hadn’t attempted to torture them. You’d gotten there before that point.
Once she released you Garth was there slapping your hand in a high five “Now that’s what I call a rescue mission ma’am!” you winked at him but your smile quickly fell when Dean stepped away from the corner where he’d been talking with Benny. Your eyes skimmed across him clocking the cut over his eye, the bruising on the side of his face and just how bloodied his knuckles were “I call that insanity. What the hell were you thinking?” you grimaced slightly at his tone bracing yourself before saying “I call that pulling your ass out the fire, same as you’ve done for pretty much all of us”
He studied you for a second before a grin split his face and he pulled you into a hug “Kid you are completely insane but damn I would’ve loved to see Kaper’s face when those pipe bombs started going off” you touched your stomach where you caught a boot from Dante and Dean tracked your movements with his eyes “What happened?” Benny who had been silent stepped up behind you and when he touched your left shoulder it was only then that you realized the branch that had knocked you off Helios had torn through your jacket and shirt. “I officially met Dante Kaper”
“Did you kick his ass?” Max asked and you shrugged “I’d have to say that meeting was fifty, fifty. I got away from him because he underestimated me and got kicked in the family jewels as a reward for it” Alicia covered her mouth as she laughed “In that case I’d say you won it” You glanced around eyeing the lot of them. Out the rescue team from the looks of it none of them had even been in a fight. Benny’s knuckles weren’t even bloodied. Kevin was a little windblown but that was because he’d been at the forefront of any explosions they’d set off. “All of us are in one piece and can make it home. I call that a win”
Ninety percent of the time you tried your best to abide by what few rules were in place. You as one of Bobby’s surrogate kids had to be on your best behaviour to show everyone else in your compound that all was treated equal but when a meeting was being held to arrange an escort to Denver for a supply run to the encampment there and you weren’t invited it more than pissed you off.
You stood in front of the meeting room door for several minutes trying to talk yourself out of what you were about to do. It didn’t work of course. You started to walk away then said screw it and shoved the door open. Bobby,Sam, Dean,Benny and Jody were sitting around a table marking the route off. “Took her longer than I thought it would” Benny admitted with a nod to Dean.
Jody raised an eyebrow at you “Y/N? Bobby said you weren’t feeling too well” you cut your eyes at Bobby who shook his head “Don’t even start kid. You know you can’t go on this run” “Why not? When have I suddenly become persona non grata?” “When you went a few rounds with a Kaper” Dean answered for Bobby.
You barked out a harsh laugh then drew the chair from next to Sam and sat down “Then I guess you nor Charlie nor Garth is going on this run either then? Because while they didn’t see the crew that busted you out they know you got out”
Sam sighed and turned slightly in his chair to face you “Still turns back around to you Y/N. Since they in fact didn’t see the crew they probably assumed you set some sort of timer to bust the whole in the back wall before getting their attention on the front. Them taking the three of them goes against the agreement set forth by the militia so they can’t exactly report it but they more than likely have a grudge against the person who blew half their wall up and knocked most of their guards and one of Kaper’s sons flat on his ass” You leaned forward on your elbows and glanced around the table.
Dean and Benny immediately shared a look from the expression on your face and Bobby closed his eyes with an exasperated sigh before you ever spoke “So you’re telling me that lil ol me gets the credit for pulling off a rescue mission, destroying their over the top wall that wasn’t even very functional to begin with and kicking Dante’s ass all on my own. Hmm sounds to me like I need to go along Kaper’s men may think twice about messing with the crew if they spot me with them”
“If we don’t let her go we all know either she’ll saddle Helios and follow us anyways or get into something worse” Dean finally said and Jody winked at you “Well you boys may need some backup” “Don’t encourage her!” Bobby groaned then waved a hand at you “Go grab your gear. Dean will round up everyone else” you stood up and winked at Jody before walking out.
------
You were riding behind Benny towards the back of the wagon. It would be left with the encampment so the trip back would be cut by a day. Everyone was talking to whoever was closest to them or just keeping an eye on the surrounding area. Once the supplies were handed off and inside walls the militia weren’t as prone to mess with them but out here in the open it was a more free game.
There was a reason why you, Alicia and Max had spent weeks mapping out the natural caves along any routes all of you took. If you couldn’t find an old building with a garage area for the cart you would park it inside of the cave then make camp outside of it where anyone looking to steal would have to go past whoever was on guard at the moment and everyone sleeping.
“Benny you got this for a minute?” you asked and he cut his eyes at you and nodded “Yeah I got this darling. Guess you’re gonna poke at Dean a lil bit?” you grinned and clicked your tongue so Helios headed in the direction you pointed her which was the head of your group where Dean was looking as stoic as ever while keeping an eye on his surroundings.
He barely acknowledged your presence but you knew that he knew you were there. “Are you really mad at me for getting you out?” you asked and he shook his head.
You knew he wasn’t but you were going to make him say the words out loud. “I’m pissed off at you for putting yourself at risk like that. What if those guards would’ve caught up with you? Or what if Dante would’ve actually won that fight?”
“Then you would’ve come and got me. It would’ve gone a lot bloodier than my method but I have faith that worse case scenario you would’ve made Kaper regret the day he was born” Dean was quiet for a moment before finally looking at you “Y/N..dammit you’re in the same category as Sam. I can survive losing a lot. I don’t know if I can survive losing either of you. Before you say it I know you’re plenty capable. I’d rather have you at my back then most men I know but that doesn’t change the fact that if you would’ve gotten killed saving my ass..I would’ve slaughtered every man in that place” “What about the women on his guard?” you asked and he narrowed his eyes “Don’t be a smartass just say you see my point”
“I see your point but that’s the same reason why I couldn’t leave you there. Dean you almost killed Jonah. If I hadn’t been bleeding that bad you would’ve. You’re a high value target for Josiah so I’m not gonna attempt to lie to you I’d do it all over again but I do honestly see why you got pissed at me so can we call truce now?” he nodded and held a hand out so you shook it with a laugh “Glad we got that settled now let me get back to my post before Benny starts talking to his horse again”
------
Your group was about two days away from the Denver encampment. You’d stopped to make camp for the night. There was an old housing development that got abandoned when the end happened so it was a bunch of half built houses that had been mainly reclaimed by nature. There was one at the end that only had a few finishing touches to the place so that was where you picked for the night. The cart was parked in the garage so everyone made beds around it. All of you had slept in worse places.
“Y/N you and Sam take first shift then wake me and Benny up for second shift” Dean announced so you nodded in agreement as you pulled your jacket onto your shoulders “Aye aye Cap” then nodded at Sam “C’mon Samuel” he shook his head with a laugh but followed you out the side door of the garage that led back outside.
------
The full moon was nearly bright enough you could read by it. You were on your third trip around the house keeping an eye on the perimeter. Every time you’d pass Sam one of you would tell the other some stupid joke or random fact to pass the time. There was only another hour left of your guard shift then you could take over Dean’s bed to catch a little sleep before finishing the last leg of this trip.
Once the cart was dropped off your group didn’t have to take the main road home and weren’t as high value of a target for the militia or the road bandits. Even in this day and age you had people that would rather steal then even attempt to provide for themselves in a halfway honest way.
It was a bit disappointing that the one thing you could still count on was that mankind could still be major douches regardless of the time. You were thinking of another weird fact to tell Sam considering your fact of what raccoons could fit inside of made him swear to sleep on his back from here on out every time he slept outside would make you laugh for a week.
A movement towards the woods a few houses down caught your eye. You weren’t quite sure what it was but actually hoped for bandits versus Militia or any of Kaper’s men. You knew Sam would be coming around the corner of the house in a minute and if you mentioned it to him he’d want to check it out with you but you couldn’t leave the house completely unguarded.
You whistled one sharp note and Sam whistled back before coming around the corner quickly “What’s wrong Y/N?” you nodded towards the treeline “I think I saw something. I’m gonna go check it out. Don’t leave guard post unless you hear me scream then feel free to tell on me to Dean and bring everyone running deal?” He followed your line of sight then looked back at you “You’ve got exactly two minutes” you grinned at him “I only need one Samuel” then headed towards the treeline being careful to make your footsteps as quiet as possible.
You reached for the knife at your side. You had your gun tucked at your lower back but if it turned more into a close quarters deal the knife would be a better option. The moment you stepped into the shadows of the trees you felt a hand grab you and you were slammed backwards into a tree. Before you even focus to try to see the assailant you had your knife at their throat.
You realized you were looking up into none other than Dante Kaper’s dark brown eyes “You know you’re something else Y/N” he grunted flinching slightly from the pressure you had on the blade. “Been called worse by better Dante” you replied putting as much venom as you could in your voice and he smiled despite the fact that you were nearly drawing blood “You need to move your people. The militia is headed this way. They’ll be through before daylight”
“How do I know this isn’t a trap to make us move so your people can attack us down the road?” you asked and his grip on your arms tightened slightly “If I wanted your people dead I could’ve shot you and Dean's brother then burned the garage to the ground besides I kind of like having someone around to give me a run for my money. Makes life a lot more interesting”
“And why do I tell Dean we need to move? Can’t exactly say a Kaper said so” you replied easing the pressure slightly on his throat. He glanced down at the blade then slowly released your arms “You’re a resourceful woman. I’m sure you’ll think of something” you stared at him for a few breaths before putting your knife back at your side “If this is a trap you better hope they kill me fast because I’ll make sure you regret it” he had the audacity to wink at you before saying “See? Now comments like that make me want to keep you alive just because that much fire deserves to be fed”
He disappeared into the woods and a few seconds later you heard his horse moving away and cursed yourself for not clocking that big of a beast. “You bastard” you whispered to the night then realized the two minutes had more than likely passed so you quickly breached the tree line again to be back in Sam’s line of sight before he could wake Dean up.
He ran to meet you halfway “What was it?” you shook your head “I don’t know but we need to move. We’re close to a few caverns we can make it to one and still rest a bit before hitting the road again” he stepped in front of you before you got your hand on the door leading into the garage “Woah Y/N if it was nothing why are you hell bent on moving?” you met his eyes and took a deep breath “You trust me right?” “Of course” he answered a quick reply built on years of both of you trusting the other’s instinct. You hated lying to him but something told you Dante was being honest and you didn’t want to chance the supplies that were desperately needed in the Denver encampment being confiscated.
“Let’s get them up then” you finally added so he stepped to the side and simply followed you into the garage.
------
Surprisingly enough when you woke Dean to say you felt like your team needed to move he didn’t even attempt to question you. He simply gave out orders and the lot of you moved silently through the woods to the caverns you’d pointed out on the map.
Once everyone was settled back down at the cavern though you noticed that Dean and Benny both had pulled Sam to the side of the group and the three of them kept throwing glances in your direction. What were you supposed to tell them if they questioned you further? That you were taking an enemy at his word because why exactly? You weren’t even sure yourself why you’d believed Dante besides the fact that he was indeed telling the truth that had he wanted any of you dead it would’ve been simple enough to do.
You pushed the thought out of your head and curled up next to Helios for the night. By the time the sun was peeking out onto the ground your team was already on the road once again.
------
“So successful drop off done now for the trip home” you said riding between Sam and Dean. Dean glanced over your head at Sam and nodded once. You watched as Sam fell off and matched his pace with Benny instead no doubt giving you and Dean room to talk or rather Dean room to question you.
You remained silent for a few moments before saying “Well get on with it” he cut his eyes at you then looked back ahead of him “Get on with what exactly Y/N?” you sighed running your fingers through Helios’ mane “Asking me why I moved us in the middle of the night” “And why exactly was that?” he questioned and you felt a knot in your stomach start to form. On one hand you didn’t want to lie to Dean about anything but on the other hand you’d done the one thing all of you had sworn to never do..you trusted a Kaper. Even as far as David Dean simply avoided.
You shrugged “I just had a bad feeling. Best case scenario we ride back through and nothing is touched meaning I overreacted to a bad feeling” “But if we ride back through and proof that the militia has been through is there I’ve got to explain why you’ve either suddenly grown psychic powers or why the little birdies flying around have decided to start conversing with you”
You were stunned into silence simply because you’d never actually had Dean accuse you of anything. It was a strange feeling but you also became acutely defensive “What exactly are you accusing me of?” you asked and he turned fully to look at you trusting his horse to remain on the path he’d been pointed “Someone was in those woods last night when you went to check it out. You can lie to Sammy but you can’t lie to me. Who was it?” At your silence he cleared his throat then looked back at Sam who came up to join the two of you yet again “Sam you and Benny take lead. Me and Y/N are gonna fall to watch the rear and have a little chat since she’s apparently now being shy of groups”
You cut your eyes at Benny when he came up to take your spot at the head of the group “You good darling?” you nodded once then clicked your tongue to get Helios to follow Dean.
Once the two of you were at the rear of your group with no possibility of anyone over hearing a conversation Dean got his horse close enough to Helios that had the two not been around each other for so many years they never would’ve willingly rode that close “Now talk to me.You know I’ve always backed you up but I need to know who told you we should move?” you sighed and refused to meet his eyes but answered “Dante” you barely looked in his direction but saw his jaw clenching and unclenching “Please don’t be mad at me Dean. I had my knife to his throat but he had a point. He could’ve fucking sniped me and Sam then barbequed the rest of you if he had wanted to!”
“So? What are you trusting him now?” Dean’s voice was sharper than you’d ever heard it pointed at you. He reached across the space between the two of you and snatched your jacket off your left arm to show the thick jagged scar that started at your wrist and disappeared underneath the short sleeve of your shirt “His brother did this! I found you nearly dead. Sam held you in his arms the entire ride back to our doctors and you know what? I heard him pray Y/N! Who the hell he was praying to in all of this I don’t know but we thought we would lose you. We lost Jo, Ash and Rufus that day! A Kaper did that! Out of every possible enemy in this world the god damn Kapers have been a thorn in our side for longer than anything! You really think you can trust him? Even David is only passable because he got away from Josiah and we haven’t heard anything from him since. Dante went back to his daddy’s compound and probably reported that Bobby’s girl was stupid enough to trust him!”
You felt hot tears spring to your eyes at his words. You turned your head stubbornly so he wouldn’t see them and took a few deep breaths before replying “I don’t trust him Dean but I had to weigh the options and protecting all of you was the most important thing” your voice broke slightly as you shrugged your jacket back up on your arm. Dean reached as if to touch your shoulder but you flinched away from him “Not right now Dean. I know you just want to protect me but I just can’t right now”
“Chief, are we checking it out?” Benny called from the front nodding towards the path that would take you back out to where the housing complex was. Dean looked at you then announced “Everyone wait here for a few. C’mon Benny” you watched them ride off then locked eyes with Sam. The look on his face alone was enough to ask if you were ok. You gave a sharp nod.
Within a few moments Dean and Benny were rejoining your group. You didn’t look in Dean’s direction when he came back to ride at your side but he still offered “For what it counts the militia destroyed it and left their mark” “Why did he warn me?” you asked honestly shocked that Dante’s warning had rang true. “That’s the question isn’t it?”
The moment Bobby heard that Dante had reached out to you and in fact actually told the truth about the militia coming through you knew that would be the end of you being allowed out on any day to day tasks. You had no idea why he’d even been in that area that night or how he’d located your group let alone why he’d want to actually protect your group. Hell you’d fought him the first time you met him then that knife had drawn a line of blood from his throat while he gave his warning. It was a predicament to say the least and and left you feeling like a fucking leper considering only Sam, Dean and Bobby knew so to everyone else they simply say you sticking close to the compound with no good reason as to why.
You were helping Donna and Jody in the armory trying to simply keep your head down until Bobby and the boys forgot about it and let you out again. “What exactly did you do?” Jody asked sliding more shells across to you since the three of you were currently making more bullets. You shrugged knowing that you very well couldn’t tell another soul that a Kaper had saved your necks. You absentmindedly scratched at the scar on your arm and Donna covered your hand with her own “You know that’s a bad nervous habit sweetie” you shot her a small smile “I think I’m just going a little stir crazy. Even just to take Helios out to stretch her legs I’ve got to take Benny or Max and Alicia with me” “Whatever happened those three will get over it soon enough kid. Just keep pushing they love ya” Jody added with a wink.
------
It went on for a while until you were on guard duty one day walking the length of the wall when Xavier, a rider for a nearby compound which happened to be where your hospital set up was, came riding up to the gate. “LET HIM IN!” you hollered climbing down the ladder to meet him.
When he saw you his eyes flicked around nervously “Y/N.. Dean or Sam around?” you shook your head “No but what’s going on Xavier?” he swallowed hard “They’re on the way to do a walk through of our compound. We don’t have the power core completely buried yet” “Shit.Dean,Benny and Sam aren’t due back till dark” his eyes looked like they very well may pop out of his head “We have an hour tops” you knew that if you came out on the other side you’d never hear the end of it and that was the best case scenario.
You nodded to his horse “How fast can it move with two riders?” “Fast enough” he replied. As you were swinging your leg up behind him you heard Max holler your name. Xavier glanced back at you but you simply shook your head “Ignore him. Let’s go” you rode out of the gate motioning for it to be closed behind you already planning in your head a dangerous route but if it came down to it you would do what was necessary to save the most amount of people.
------
Dean was seething with anger and underneath that was the fear. The fear of being too late this time. The fear he’d find you dead. Dammit why did you have to be so fucking selfless? When him and Sam had met up with Max on the trail back he knew something was wrong then when Max told him the last he’d seen of you was you riding off on the back of Xavier’s horse he knew the worst was yet to come.
He rode up to the gate of the compound that housed the hospital set up “OPEN THE FUCKING GATE!” He didn't slow down and rode directly up to the door before climbing off his horse and nearly took the door off the hinges as he stormed inside with Sam and Benny close behind.
He spotted Micheal the doctor that was over the place “Where is she? What the fuck happened here?” The place was a mess but most of the equipment appeared to be whole. There was evidence a fight had happened and your presence or the lack thereof was a sore thumb along with the puddle of blood in the center of the room. “Dean you got to know I tried to stop her! I told her to stand down but she refused. She was determined to draw their attention from the power core” the shorter man was clearly scared and for good reason. Benny knowing Dean how he did managed to catch him before he broke the good doctor’s nose “Dean brother we need to hear what happened before we kill him”
Micheal looked at Sam who shrugged “They’re not gonna kill you” When Micheal almost looked relieved Sam quickly added “But we may make you wish you were dead cause you’re probably gonna have to put yourself back together if we find out you hid while they took Y/N”
Benny let go of Dean and had a hand around Micheal’s throat in the blink of an eye “Now doc me and you ain’t never had an issue but that girl is like a sister to all three of you. What the hell happened here?” “Jonah was with them” Micheal breathed out and Dean felt his blood run cold.
They never planned this to be an inspection. Josiah and Jonah both knew the one way to get at Bobby, Dean and Sam was to go after Y/N. “Son of a bitch. They were probably watching when we left. He planned the walk through to draw her out knowing she’d never stand by”
Benny dropped Micheal unceremoniously to the floor. “Go over what happened and don’t leave a word out”
Everything hurt. You knew the moment you’d spotted that chestnut horse amongst the inspection crew that it had all been a lie. You’d been lured out and played directly into their hands. “I’LL KILL YOU” you growled diving at Xavier. You’d trusted him and he’d betrayed all of you. “Sorry Y/N they gave me a better offer than being an errand boy”
You had your hands around his throat when the door was kicked in and you heard a gun cock “Y/N let him go or I’ll kill them” you looked up to see a gun pointed towards Micheal the top doctor and Erika the top field medic. You slowly stood off of Xavier eyes never leaving Jonah’s masked face. Good girl” he cooed then the moment Xavier was on his feet he put a bullet between his eyes. At your look he shrugged “He’s a rat. Don’t need any rats now do we?”
“Gonna take that mask off and let me see Dean’s handy work?” you taunted eyes flicking towards Micheal and Erika. “Are you going to be nice and come quietly or do my men need to beat you in compliance?” he replied so you squared your shoulders and planted your feet “If you plan on taking me you might as well throw your hat into the ring too darling cause this is gonna be one hell of a fight”
You ended up coming back to consciousness in the newly reinforced cells of Kaper’s compound. You were certain you had a few broken ribs and the entire side of your face was slick with your own blood. You’d held true to your word. You’d given as much damage as you’d gotten and that was at an extreme disadvantage. The last thing you remembered was Jonah’s boot connecting with the side of your head hard. If you survived this you would make sure you were the last thing he ever saw and you had the comfort of knowing if you didn’t survive that Dean would be the last thing Jonah ever saw.
You had managed to push yourself into a seated position with your back against the wall when you heard boots coming in your direction. You were in pain and it would likely be a task to stand on your own but regardless you braced yourself for what would more than likely be another fight.
When the footsteps stopped you looked up to see Jonah was standing at the door leading into the cell. He had his mask in his hand and the light from the torch on the wall flickered across the burns the corrosive had left behind on his face. “Damn you’re even uglier than you were before. At least the exterior completely matches the interior now” you grunted holding an arm around your hurting ribs as you forced yourself to stand up despite the pain radiating through you that moving caused. “Keep talking you little bitch. Even now our group is already at your compound. Singer will be given seventy two hours to either deliver the power core or be delivered your corpse” “Bobby knows you’ll never keep your word. You’ll take the power core and kill me all for daddy dearest to make a play to be over the shambles that’s left of this country”
“But the thing about Bobby and the Winchester boys they don’t think with their heads a lot. They let their hearts do the thinking and you’re family. That whole group is insane enough to risk it all by coming after you. How many more will die this time for you to walk away?” “That wasn’t my fault. It was yours” you threw back and he smiled “And yet here you still stand having survived what? Seven years after them?” “You’re gonna kill me why not just finish me off now?” you asked and his smile turned sinister “Oh but why kill you quickly when I can make you beg for death?”
He pulled a key out of his pocket and slid it into the door when he stepped into the cell you took a deep breath before falling into a defensive posture. Whatever he had planned it wouldn’t go over easy on him.
“There’s not even an option. We hand over the fucking power core” Dean spoke from where he stood at the edge of the room. “How do we know they won’t kill her anyway?” Benny asked and a silence fell over the room because everyone was thinking what Benny had just given voice to “Well what the hell do you suggest Benny? Let them kill her with no qualms?” Max’s voice was laced with anger. Anger at himself for not being able to stop you from leaving and anger at the situation in general.
“We’re already at the eighteen hour mark since they took her. We need to do something and do it now!” Alicia cut in but before another word could be spoken Claire came running into the room “DEAN, SAM” both brothers turned to look at the blonde who was out of breath “The front gate! We need you!”
------
Most of the residents of the compound had been temporarily relocated rather to other areas or the caverns to get the non combatants out of harm’s reach which made it easier for moving around. Erika had bought her supplies and came back to help as well.
When Dean and Sam made it to the front gate they saw that Erika, Alex and Eileen were all three crouched around but couldn’t make out what until they got close enough to see you cradled in Dante Kaper’s arms while the three women worked to triage your wounds.
“What the hell?” Dean demanded and at his voice you opened your eyes weakly “Don’t hurt him Dean” then your head rolled over to the side. “She’s ok. She just passed out. Dante get her up and let’s get her inside”
------
Erika had kicked everyone out of the room besides Eileen and Alex to work so that left Dean and Sam alone with Dante in the hall outside the room you were in. “Is that her blood?” Dean asked, pointing to Dante’s shirt. The other man glanced down almost robotically “Not all. Some of it is Jonah’s”
“Excuse me?” Sam asked to ensure he’d heard right. Dante raised his eyes and Dean saw a fire there that almost made him want to like him “I killed him to save her life. I wasn’t there when they took her but the moment I got back to the compound my father called me into his quarters to brag. I found Jonah in her cell he planned to do worse than torture her…” his eyes had found their way back to the door that held you on the other side “I killed him without a second thought. I took her out the back and bought her here where I know she’s safe then I’m gonna go back and kill my father and everyone loyal to him”
“Is she worth that to you?” Dean asked, needing the answer before he allowed himself to give a Kaper even a sliver of trust “Why wouldn’t she be?” Dante replied and Dean gave him a sharp nod “Ok then. Want some help?”
------
You came to again when Eileen was washing the blood off of your face. “Eileen?” you whispered but she saw your lips move and looked up to your eyes and smiled “Thank god. What do you remember?” “Jonah..a blade slicing through him...a horse ride..Dante’s coat being around me and telling Dean not to hurt him”
She nodded “Good no concussion then” you looked around slowly “Where is everyone” you signed a bit sloppy but she got the point. “Waiting for you to wake up” “How long have I been out?” you asked and she grimaced which told you it’d been a while “A week”
Before you could have a complete freakout the door cracked open and Alicia poked her head in “You’re awake!” “It appears” you groaned trying to sit up before her and Eileen moved to help you. They shared a look then Eileen signed “I’m gonna go find the boys”
Once she walked out you looked over at Alicia who’d sat next to you “What happened while I was napping?” she laughed “Oh a revolution?” “Huh?” you questioned and she shrugged “Bobby can explain it better but just know our lives are going to be a lot more peaceful” “Where’s Dante?” you asked worry for him suddenly hitting you like a blow to the gut. “He’s fine honey. That’s one of the boys Eileen went to find”
------
You were sitting up with your feet curled under you nursing the glass of water Alicia had gotten you when the door opened again and Eileen walked in, trailed by Dean,Bobby,Sam,Benny and an unsure looking Dante.
Your crew all hugged you then you locked eyes with Dante and shared a small smile “You killed your brother for me” “He was an asshole anyways” he replied which caused a light laugh to spread across the room. “What happened while I was out?” you asked looking at Bobby who smiled “Long story short? Josiah is dead. David is back and over the civilians proven to not be under Josiah’s rule. The militia is being cleared out of dirty members as we speak and we have doubled the side of our hospital set up in the last three days”
You cut your eyes at Dante “What are you gonna do now?” Dean slung an arm around his shoulder and winked at you “Well Y/N not to put words in his mouth but I believe he was hoping to stick around and get to know you a bit better now that you’re not sworn enemies anymore” “If that’s good with you. If not I can always head home now that David is over it?” he offered and you smiled “I think I’d like you sticking around a bit” His smile told you that was the answer he’d been hoping for.

“You’ll be fine,” Hyunjae’s voice is a soothing lullaby to the ongoing tumulant war roaring through Kevin's head as he quickly buttons up his charcoal jeans and glances over at himself in the mirror.
As per Hyunjae's recommendations, Kevin now eyes his jean jacket hiding a white t-shirt underneath, said jeans and matching converse and tries to imagine what Mae might think of him.
"Are you sure?" Kevin repeats.
"Kevin, it's a date. Not a goddamn wedding," Hyunjae's voice resonates through the phone with clear exasperation, "she's not going to judge you for it."
"Okay okay," Kevin takes a deep breath, "you're right. It's just a date."
"Yeah, a date. With Mae. You'll be fine. Just think of it as just the two of you hanging out as you always do."
"Oh my god what if I make a fool of myself? Or worse, what if I spill something on her? Or me? Or what if--"
"Kevin," Hyunjae cuts him off, "breathe, my man."
Kevin does as he's told, inhaling shakily and exhaling through his mouth, "sorry," he mumbles, "I just--I don't want to mess this up."
"And you won't. Do you know how much she likes you?"
Kevin blinks at his reflection, "What?"
Hearing Hyunjae sigh at the other end of the line, his heart suddenly speeds up at the slightest possibility that this love is not one-sided.
"Okay, this didn't come from me," Hyunjqe starts, "but--well, the reason why I was so keen foe you two to, you know, get together, is because I knew that she--that she liked you back."
"You knew? And you kept this from me?!"
"Hey, it wasn't my secret to tell okay!"
"HYUNJAE WHAT THE FUCK."
"I'M SORRY SHE SAID SHE'D CIRCUMCISE ME IF I TOLD ANYONE."
Kevin's fingers reach up to pinch the bridge of his nose, "what about Juyeon? Does he know?"
Silence.
"HYUNJAE."
"Yes yes, alright! He knows too! But I couldn't possibly keep the secret for myself! It was too good to tell!"
"So all this time you both knew?!"
"We couldn't just betray Mae's feelings just like we didn't betray yours," his friend is quick to point out.
"Fine, fine. You're right," Kevin pauses, "but still--"
"Let's not continue this or you might be late for your date."
Kevin's eyes impulsively flit over to the clock on his nightstand, before letting out a reluctant groan of agreement, "fine. But I have questions when I return."
"Aye sir."
Kevin had planned out the day with precise timing and to the finest detail. They were to have lunch at a coffee shop overlooking the Han River, a location chosen both because of the beautiful view it gave and for its location, since it was close to the arcade he'd carefully picked out just a few days prior. After that, they'd head over to the arcade for an afternoon of fun and games, and later on they could walk along the Han River, hand in hand, while watching the sunset coating the entire city in warm shades of gold.
But of course, he should've known that everything would just go wrong from the moment he set his mind to make this day as perfect as possible.
For starters, they met up at the coffee shop entrance only to realize that it's closed for renovation. As a result, they had no choice but to find a nearby fast food joint, settling on greasy burgers and too-salty fries to match and although Mae assures him that she is perfectly fine with that choice, it definitely does not hit the sweet romantic spot that Kevin has been aiming for.
“Honestly, this suits more my style anyway,” Mae says as she bites a big mouthful of beef and bacon burger.
“Sure,” is what he mumbles, though his mind is clearly trying to piece up together a better action plan for the rest of the day to come.
It’s fine, he tells himself internally, it will definitely get better from there. Right? Right?
It doesn’t.
The moment they head to the arcade, they are bombarded with a group of ten-year old children running around and screaming at the top of their lungs, clambering up on makeshift motorbikes and squealing at the top of their lungs as they attempt to shoot down zombies through a two-dimensional screen.
It’s practically impossible to hear what Mae is saying, yet have a romantic date together.
“Kevin,” Mae shouts over the cacophony of piercing screams echoing throughout the neon-coloured room. She tugs down onto his arm so that her lips reach his ear, “we don’t have to stay if you don’t want to, it’s fine!”
“But that was what I had planned--”
“It’s okay, we’ll figure something out!”
He tries not to show his displeasure, but the scowl breaks through his forced nonchalance. Mae, having spotted his change in expression, tugs more insistently onto his arm, “it’s okay Kev. Come on.”
It’s only until they stumble out of the arcade -- Kevin sporting a sour expression -- that Mae bursts into a soft chuckle at the said man’s face.
She nudges him lightly on the shoulder, “come on, Kev. It’s not that bad. We’ll find something else to do.”
“But I know you’ve always wanted to go on a date in an arcade,” he mumbles out, words sounding a little whinier than he’s intended. Mae can’t help but laugh at how cute he sounds and looks at this very moment, like a child in need of a lollipop to feel better and as if on its own accord, her hand reaches out to pat his head.
Kevin blinks down at her in surprise, at the lingering smile faltering at the corner of her lips upon realizing how close they are at this very moment. Clearing her throat and quickly turning away so as to avoid direct confrontation of this awkward atmosphere, Mae gestures towards the Han River without meeting his eyes.
“How about we go for a walk?” she asks. “Okay,” he mumbles, still slightly put out that all that planning has resulted in absolutely nothing. What if Mae thinks he actually doesn’t really care about first impressions? Or what if she’s someone who actually loves big romantic gestures and had been expecting so much from him, only to be disappointed by his lack of effort? These sort of questions keep on daunting the back of Kevin’s mind as the pair make their way to the riverside. The sun is shining in the distance, though grey clouds linger underneath like a barrier that already hints there will be no sunset today, which only makes Kevin want to stomp his foot in protest. It’s not fair! Chants his inner subconscious as Mae’s voice chimes through the air:
“So this is definitely not the kind of date that I had been expecting.”
“Thanks Mae,” he mutters, “that’s exactly what I want to hear right now.”
She can’t help but burst out laughing at his face transformed into a pout, eyebrows drawn together and lips turned down, clearly upset by it all, “and here I thought you were one with the big romantic gestures.”
“Look, I had the date all planned out to the finest detail,” Kevin protests as they reach the riverbank, “it was perfect in my head. And then all this shit happened.”
“You tried,” she grins, “I appreciate that.”
“And yet, you’re still laughing.”
“It’s funny! You should see yourself! I’ve never seen you pouting that much in my entire life.”
“Because I wanted today to be special,” he all but grumbles, scowling at how funny she finds it when he’s put so much effort. And for what? Absolutely nothing! “I didn’t want it to be just any date.”
“It’s fine, really. It’s just a date.”
“It’s not--” his eyes catch her own, blazing with emotion, “--just a date. It was officially our first. I just wanted it to be special, you know?”
There’s a slight pause as the girl takes in his words, a half-smile still dancing at the corners of her lips as she tries to find any kind of fault to the young man who thinks he has screwed everything up. In truth, she couldn’t have asked for anything better, and the fact that Kevin’s plans -- despite his amazing preparation -- have failed just makes it all the more special, and will definitely be something she’ll cherish forever.
But she knows, no matter how much she talks, Kevin will definitely keep beating himself up about it because that is just the kind of person he is, the kind of person that expects so much from themselves, only to loathe themselves for it for reasons that shouldn’t exist in the first place.
So she does the only thing that she thinks will boost his morale. She closes the gap between their bodies in one fluid movement before stretching up on her toes to kiss his cheek.
Kevin’s eyes are as round as saucers when she pulls back, jaw falling slack at her more than intimate action. He can’t recall the last time they’ve been this close, and it had definitely not been on romantic terms.
This, this feels different. It is different. His hand tingles with the desire to touch his cheek, just to feel the residual warmth followed by her soft imprint.
“Thank you,” Mae murmurs as Kevin probes at her face in an attempt to find out what is going on inside that head of hers. From the soft peony colour dusting her cheeks, he’d have to think that she is definitely smitten. She continues in that shy, soft voice that is a complete contrast to her usual strong tone, “what you intended was meaningful enough.”
His lips twitch, threatening to break into a shit-eating grin as he replies, "no problem," in what he hopes is a nonchalant, blazéed manner.
They continue striding down the pathway and it is then that Kevin finds the courage to brush the back of his knuckles against hers. And when her eyes flutter to his with curiosity, he forces his courage forward, wraps his fingers around her own before squeezing softly.
He refuses to meet her questioning gaze, instead focusing on the sight ahead. The sun is melting into the Han river's surface, covered up by clouds so that only strands of pale light slither through. It is definitely not the most romantic mood he'd wished for, definitely not the perfect date he'd carved out in his head.
But it'll do for now. He is content enough, because Mae is at his side, because his heart is now full with butterflies as he thinks of more exciting days to come.
Later, the pair find themselves at a late night convenience store to buy cold canned coffee drinks and a bowl of ramen to share. Setting down at one of the outside tables and huddling together to escape the bite of the cold, Mae allows herself to get a whiff of Kevin's cologne, a scent that she grew up knowing and yet, right now this scent means so much more.
"Now this, this is the best date I've ever had," she exclaims, slurping up the ramen and allowing the salty taste of soy sauce and Korean chilli fill her tongue, "how you gonna beat this, Kev?"
"If this was what you call the beat date, then you haven't seen anything honey."
"Oh, overconfident now are we?" She says, a little more comfortable with being playful.
Kevin rolls his eyes, chewing on his mouthful of noodles before passing the bowl over to her once more, "You're the one who apparently has low standards. But that's okay, It can only get better from there."
"See, that's not something you should say to your date."
"Why not?"
"That's something you'd say to like, I don't know, your best friend."
"Aren't you? My best friend?"
Mae's halfway through gulping some of her coffee when her mind registers his words, and boy is she glad that she manages not to choke, "uh--I mean, wait--I don't understand."
"If you're wondering whether you're my date or my best friend, don't worry," Kevin smirks, "you're both."
"And how does that work?"
"It doesn't. You're my best friend, and I love you--"
As soon as the words fall from his lips, the said man's ears redden as realization hits him like a truck.
"What--" Mae breathes, "what did you just say?"
"Nothing."
"Say it. I heard it, but I want you to say it."
"I--I--" his eyes darted back and forth with growing panic. What the fuck Kevin? He wants to slap himself across the back of his head. This is your first date! How the fuck did you ruin it so fast?
"Kevin," her tone was serious.
"I said that I--" he takes a shaky breath, exhales slowly and tries not to throw up from embarrassment, "that I love you."
The hitch in the back of her throat does not go unnoticed by him however, which makes the situation just marginally better.
"Look, forget I said anything. It's really not--"
"I won't forget it."
"Oh come on Mae, you can't use that for blackmail
--"
"I won't forget it because I know that this thing between us," she motions between the two of them, "is something special. And I don't want to risk anything by saying it now."
The way Kevin's heart soars through his chest like a hummingbird about to beat out of its cage causes his mouth to stretch into a shit-eating grin, one that he can't hide no matter how much he tries, and one that keeps on glowing brighter when he notices the blush coating Mae's cheeks.
"I--I know I feel something," Mae continues, trying not to stutter underneath the intense stare he's pinn3d her down with. Suddenly, she is all too aware of the lack of distance between their bodies, the warmth radiating from his chest, "but I don't want to say anything, not when I'm not ready yet."
Kevin nods, his smile turning gentle, "I get it, Mae."
His hand reaches out gently, smoothing over her cheek to curl a strand of hair behind her ear. He doesn't need any verbal confirmation of her part yet. It's good enough that she feels something special for him something that can turn into so much more. For him right now, that's good enough.
"Juyeon? I need to talk to you."
The alarming tone in Yunji's voice causes Juyeon's mind to come to attention. He straightens up from his seat before asking, "what's wrong? What is it?"
"I--" there's a short pause as she takes in a brrath at the other end of thr line, "Please just come."
"Where are you?" He is already standing from his seat as he talks, moving towards the corridor while dodging a few nurses scurrying by, "I'm coming."
A few minutes later, he hesiatates slightly upon arriving at Yunji's office door. She had clearly stated that they should avoid visiting esch other during office hours to avoid being the talk of town, but the seriousness in her tone cannot be ignored, no matter how suspicious it may seem.
He knocks on the door, before he hears a soft "come in."
Yunji, sitting at her desk with a stack of medical documents before her, jumps slightly when their eyes meet. Motioning for him to close the door, Juyeon does as he's told before taking a seat right opposite her.
"Yunji," he starts softly, not failing to notice how hard she's trying to avoid his eyes at all costs. His heart clenches with apprehension, "what is it?"
He watches Yunji's bottom lip tremble, notices the soft glistening in her eyes, and instantly his mind swerves into panic mode: does she have an incurable disease? Or maybe her family? What about if someone had died?
And then, the words hit him like a truck.
"Juyeon, I'm pregnant."

“Did you hear that?” Kevin lifted his foot off the pedal and Jacob squinted at the direction where Kevin was looking, “Huh? What did you hear?” “I thought I heard a thud sound. Or is it just me?” Kevin watched as Jacob opened the door, looking left and right as if trying to locate the sound, “Kev, I think you’re imagining things.” He came back in and took a look at his phone, “Speaking of which, I got to go and tutor the Year Ones. See you at 6!” Jacob packed up his guitar and bade Kevin goodbye, closing the door as he did so.
Kevin shook his head, trying to get rid of the niggling feeling he had. Pressing the pedal once more, he let his fingers fly over the piano keys, playing a melody he has memorised by heart: The River Flows in You by Yiruma. Typical but he had a thing for this piece. Another thud was heard and Kevin stopped once more, this time deciding to open the door. “Hello? Who’s there?” A second later, his eyes met yours and time seemed to stop as the two of you stared at one another, the music room just opposite the dance studio.
“Why did you stop?” You huffed leaning heavily against the door of the dance studio. “I...What?” Kevin was certainly not understanding the situation. You pinched the bridge of your nose and he took this opportunity to properly look at you. Worn out pointe shoes, hair in a messy bun and eyes hazy as sweat dripped non-stop from your forehead. He figured that you might be a dance major. “Do you want me to keep playing?” He gestured to the grand piano.
“If….if you have the time.” You answered softly and Kevin resumed his previous position. He found your request weird but he felt bad if he rejected you, hence he started playing from the top. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw you inch closer to him, “Don’t mind me.” He raised an eyebrow but his breath was taken away when you had closed your eyes and started moving to the piece he was playing. And this whole time he had never noticed you around in school?
As the piece came to an end, he raised his gaze, only to find you lying on the floor. “Oh my god! Are you okay?” Kevin worriedly asked. He was about to carry you, only to be stopped when you weakly grasped his hand, “I’m okay.” Though Kevin didn’t know you, the only thought running in his head was how emotionally drained you look. “I’ll get your things.” He left you as he picked up your bag from the other room, quickly switching off the lights.
When he came back he found you staring at the window, the sun slowly setting and it’s warm rays hitting your face. “How long have you been playing the piano?” He looked at the small smile forming on your face and Kevin felt a blush forming. He turned his face away from you, opting to sit on the piano stool, “I play the piano as a hobby. It’s nothing much really. And what about you?”
“Me? I’m a dance major.” Silence enveloped the two of you and Kevin spoke up, “It’s time for us to go. The school is closing.” You nodded and you winced as you pushed yourself up from the floor, almost swaying when you got onto your feet. “Whoa there. Are you okay?” “My old injury keeps surfacing.” Your face flushed and he knelt down, “I’ll carry you.” You swung his bag and your bag over your shoulders before leaning forwards. He hooked his arms around your thighs and adjusted you so you were comfortable.
“I don’t know your name and I kinda forced you to play the piano for me.” “I’m Kevin Moon Hyunseo, but my friends call me Kevin. I’m a Year One.” “Oh? So you’re my junior.” Kevin’s eyes widened, “Oh my god! I apologize for using banmal (informal speech) sunbae!” “It’s fine. I don’t like it if my juniors are too formal with me. Also, I’m sorry for making you carry me.” Kevin felt a little crush forming and tried to squash his feelings.
“No, no. It’s all good.” Kevin assured. “Yo! Kevin!” Jacob called out but stopped when he spotted you on his back, “Lee Yuri?” So that was your name. “Jacob Bae-by?” You questioned while Kevin watched, amusement bubbling inside of him, “Bro! Bae-by?” Jacob rolled his eyes, “Long story. Why are you bullying my bro?” Kevin answered on behalf of you, “Jacob, she injured herself.” Jacob hummed as he took both your bag and Kevin’s bag.
“Dancing again, huh?” Jacob teased, ruffling your hair. Did Jacob perhaps have a thing for you? “Geez. I was just practicing. I’m a dance major, Bae-by.” Kevin mused ,”So I guess we all know one another.” Jacob burst out laughing, “It really is a small world. We all could be friends!” The three of you walked steadily downhill, easy conversation flowing between you three.
“Yuri, where do you stay?”
“You should ask Jacob. He’s my neighbor.”
“He’s your whAT?”

Be Alright
Chapter 2
Sweet Pea x Keva Mave (OC)
WC: 2,791
“Oh my god. What was that?” Kevin asked grinning at me over his milkshake.
“Nothing? I don’t know, two people waiting forever on their horny friends?” I said with a pointed look.
He gave me a content smile before saying, “But it was weird though. Where does Sweet Pea know you from? Or does he know you? Was that just a line?”
I looked down and fiddled with my straw. “Well, he knows me from the times I had to go pick up my mom from the bar. Last time she was literally hanging off of him. I guess he was too drunk to clearly remember.” I admitted.
When I glanced back up Kevin looked like he was thinking pretty hard while absently drinking his milkshake. He was about to say something when Oli slid into the booth next to me. “Hey guys! How was the movie?” He asked grinning. He had that glow about him that meant he and his teammates won tonight.
“Oh, I would say it was very eventful. Just riveting.” Kevin said eyes gleaming mischievously. “Keva and I both got a little Serpent action.” At this my eyes widened, and my cheeks flushed.
Oli turned to give me a searching look, “Kevs, something to share?”
“Oh please. By ‘both got a little Serpent action’ Kevin means he fooled around with Joaquin for two hours while I watched West Side Story and then waited with another Serpent for those two to put it back in their pants. So yeah, I totally got loads of action tonight. How’d you guys do?” I asked trying to divert his attention.
“Oh, jeez you should have seen it! Of all the games to miss out on guys. We had to go in to double overtime and then…” and just like that Oli was off. Talking about pitches, bats, catches etc.
I zoned out just a bit and gave Kevin a look that clearly said, ‘what are you playing at here Keller?’ He only shrugged and offered an ornery grin. I narrowed my eyes before turning my attention back to Oli’s story.
***
A few milkshakes and a lot of fries later it was time for us to head home. Before we were even out the door Oli told Kevin he would take me home. I mean it made sense and all given that we were neighbors. However, I had a raging suspicion that he was going to bring up Sweet Pea as soon as we were in his jeep. And I was right. The doors hadn’t even been shut for five seconds before he started in.
“Okay so what really happened with the Serpent? Did he bother you?”
“Listen Ols it was no big deal okay. Really. He was waiting on Joaquin. I was waiting on Kevin. That was all. We had an awkward conversation and went our separate ways. I doubt I’ll ever see him again. Except at..” I trailed off hoping he wouldn’t catch that last part.
“Except where?” He said giving me a look before turning his attention back to the road.
“Except at the Wrym.” I said with a sigh. “The other night he was there when I went to pick up my mom. He was drunk off his ass so I doubt he’ll even recognize me the next time I’m there. No. Big. Deal.” I finished in a tone that said I was over having this conversation now.
“Okay…okay. You know. If you ever want me to go with you to get your mom you only have to ask. I keep my phone on. Hell, I bet you could even throw something at my window from your room before you go. I mean, I know your aim is pretty bad, but I do have some faith in your ability.” He teased and I relaxed back in to my seat. This was the Oliver I knew. This one didn’t have any wild cards in him.
“Oh shut up Oli,” I said with a laugh, “better be careful or one day I will show you just how much my aim has improved.” Our banter settled into its relaxed rhythm for the rest of the drive home.
Just before I was about to walk across the grassy path that separated our houses Oli stopped me. “Hey, I was serious about before. If you ever want me to come with you to the Wrym or any bar to get your mom I’d be more than happy too. Actually, if you ever need me just let me know okay? I don’t care what time I’ll always be here for you Kevs. I love you. You know that.” He ended scratching at the back of his neck.
I went back over to him and grabbed him in a tight hug. He quickly wrapped his arms around me and squeezed back just as hard. He is my best friend and he always will be. “I love you too Oli. Thank you.” I murmured into the fabric of his shirt. I gave him one last squeeze before I made my way over to my dark house.
***
I felt like I had just fallen asleep when my phone started ringing. When I glanced at the clock it dully shined the numbers 3:42 back at me. I groaned and rolled over and grabbed my phone mumbling “hello?”
“Keva? Listen I know it’s late and I’m sorry but…” Joaquin’s voice was quiet against the roaring background noise.
“Yeah, yeah. Mommy dearest needs a ride. I’ll be there soon.” I grumbled before hanging up the phone. I stumbled in to the bathroom and grumpily brushed my teeth and tore a brush through my hair. Then I made my way back to my room and grabbed a pair of leggings, a bra and a t-shirt. I seriously considered waking Oli to come with me before I remembered he had a game last night. I sighed and got in to my car.
The Northside was dead. The houses were dark and the restaurants and bars were closed for the night. The Southside, as usual, was a different story. The party was still going strong and people were out milling in the streets and spilling out of the bars that seemed to have decided on last call. The Wrym was no exception to this. I found a spot and locked my car behind me.
When I made it inside it was mostly cleared out making it easy to find my mom. She was literally passed out in a corner. Joaquin not too far from her. Sweet Pea was not too far from Joaquin. It took him a few seconds to see me and a few more seconds for him to focus. After that a light went off behind his bloodshot eyes.
“Heeeey!” He slurred. “See, I knew I knew you from somewhere and I was right! You’re Lisa’s kid. Knew it! I knew I knew your face. God I’m surprised it didn’t come to me sooner. You’re mom is a hoot by the way.”
“Uh…yeah.” I mimicked from our earlier conversation not really sure what else to say.
“Come here often?” he asked before surprisingly bursting in to a fit of giggles. I was even more lost and too tired to deal with this right now. Finally, I looked at Joaquin with pleading eyes.
“Sweet Pea, man just go take a seat okay. I see Toni and Fangs over there. I’ll be back in a second.” Joaquin said gently shoving him in the general direction of a pink haired girl and the guy who opened my car door the other night.
“Thanks.” I said making my way over to my mom and seriously thinking about just getting back in to my car and leaving her here.
“Keva. We talked about this. Stop with the thank yous. I’m literally just being a decent human being. Now help me get her up.” Joaquin said with a sweet smile.
“Okay. Great idea, but how are we going to execute it? These snores don’t usually come out until she is asleep on the bathroom floor. There will be no help from her.” I said giving her arm a little tug.
Joaquin only rolled his eyes before he bent down and scooped her up. His pace didn’t even look strained as he walked towards the door.
“Hey! This whole time you could have been doing that?” I asked in disbelief thinking of all the times we’ve dragged her out and all the beer that has been spilled on me in the process.
Joaquin rolled his eyes and said, “This is only for special, completely passed out occasions don’t get used to it.” I laughed and opened the door for him so he could slip out. Before I followed, I felt eyes on me and turned around to meet Sweet Pea’s dark ones. I gave him a brief wave before I went after Joaquin. I rushed to catch up so I could open the door to my backseat for him. He got her in the car and softly shut the door.
“Hey Joaquin than-“ I started before he cut me off with a look. I gave him a half smile and a nod which he returned before heading back inside.
I got in to my car and drove home. I decided to take Oli up on his offer and called him when I was five minutes out. He answered in a husky, sleepy voice I hadn’t heard in a long time. By the time I got home Oli was already sitting on my front steps sleepily rubbing his eyes. It looks like he had just pulled on a pair of gym shorts before he got here.
“Hey Oli,” I said while he walking over towards me, “thanks for doing this. Sorry it’s right after your game.” “S’okay” He mumbled still in that just woken up state. He headed towards my back door and managed to get my mom into a sitting position. From there we were able to get her up and into the house and into the bathroom. While I did the usual strip down and towel laying Oli had made his way to the living room and he had already gone back to sleep on the couch. I debated between letting him sleep or waking him up. I knew Kara was going to be home in a few hours and I didn’t want him to be woken up from deep sleep twice.
I kneeled in front of him and gently shook his shoulder. When that didn’t work, I tickled him in that one spot no one else really knows about. Finally, I had to resort to pulling on his big toe. He’s always been hard to wake up, even from our first sleepovers. Finally, he started grumbling. I managed to get him up and watched him as he headed back to his house before I locked the door and went to bed myself grateful that it was the weekend and I could sleep as long as I needed.
***
The next morning, I woke up to the smell of bacon and I made my way downstairs. I was mentally thanking Kara as I stumbled down the stairs. My stomach was growling the closer I got to the kitchen. When I made it there though, Kara was sitting at the island drinking coffee and it was my mom who was in front of the stove. Kara gave me a look over her shoulder and gestured towards the coffee mug that was sitting next to her. I hesitantly made my way over and sat down.
“Good morning honey. Did you sleep well?” My mother asked sweetly smiling over at me.
“Uh.. yeah. As well as could be expected I guess.” I said quietly taking a sip of my coffee. It was like seeing a ghost. It always baffled me how she could act so normal sometimes. Like the night, or more accurately nights, before hadn’t happened. Like she hadn’t pulled her daughters out of bed to come get her because she couldn’t stay sober for more than a couple hours. The more I thought the more a rage began to build inside me. I took a deep breath, and another drink of coffee, and tried to stifle it.
“How was work Kara? Anything exciting happen?” mom asked scooping some eggs and bacon on to a plate.
“No. Nothing really. A drunk driver ran into a pole, but he was fine.” Kara said in a semi-frosty tone.
“Oh, well that is just too bad. People just do not seem to be able to grasp the extent of the damage they could cause sometimes. Drinking and driving. Who would do such a thing?”
“Yeah I wonder who.” I said hotly my temper rising. Kara could tell and she reached over and squeezed my hand. “You know what? I just remembered. I have plans with Oli.” I didn’t even wait for a response before I shoved back from the table. I grabbed my keys and was out the door. I was pounding on Oli’s door for what felt like forever before Mr. Westwood opened it.
“Hey so sorry to bother you but is Oli around?”
“Yeah Keva sure. He’s upstairs in his room.”
“Awesome, thank you Mr. Westwood.” I said and brushed past him. I took the stairs two at a time before I burst into Oli’s room. He was laying on his bed, under his covers still, and playing with his phone. I made my way over and laid down next to him.
“Hey Keva, what’s up? Everything okay?” He asked giving me a concerned look.
“No.” was all I said before I buried my face in his shoulder. The anger I was trying to repress earlier flowed through me. Then the tears were coming, hot, angry and unstoppable.
“Hey, hey, hey what’s going on?” Oli asked wrapping his arms around me, “Talk to me Kevs.”
“God Oli, I just-I just don’t understand her. I don’t understand. It’s like she’s two people. I don’t get it.” I said crying harder.
“Hey, it’s alright. Deep breath. Who is like two people?” He murmured into my hair trying to piece together what has me so upset.
“My mom! God! You should have seen her today. She was up making breakfast, chatting, smiling and laughing like-like nothings ever happened! Like everything is normal. Ols she even talked about how bad drunk driving is. Not that she does that, no. Lisa Mallister would never. She would only call her daughters to make sure she avoids that. I just… I just don’t get it Oli. I don’t get it at all.” I finished in a defeated tone.
“Hey. It’ll be alright okay. I swear. She’s just dealing with this stuff in her own, terrible way. Who knows how much she even remembers?” He said running a hand through my hair.
“Ugh. It’s just not fair. Why should she be the one who gets to forget?” I asked sitting up on the edge of his bed.
“I know Keva and I’m sorry. Hey, lets go to something fun okay? Maybe head down to the quarry? Grab Kevin on our way out?” He asked sitting up too, blankets pooling around his waist.
“Sounds like a plan to me. But I need to go buy a swimsuit. I refuse to go home until my mom is drunk off her ass again.” I said standing up and looking down expectedly at Oli.
“Okay that works. However, you might need to go in to the hall for second so I can put on some pants.” He said with humor deep in his eyes and big grin on his face.
“Oh god Oli gross! Why didn’t you warn me when I first came in?” I said quickly covering my eyes.
“Hey, it seemed like crisis mode and I had the blankets. But really though. Get out. This is getting weird.” He finished laughing up at me.
“Yep. Yep. I’m just gonna go call Kev. In the hall. Please, for the love of everything, put on some clothes and warn me next time okay?” I blindly said feeling my way towards the door. It was only after I stubbed my toe that I took my hand down and rushed out Oli still laughing behind me.
Kevin answered after two rings. He was more than happy with the plan and shared the same amusement that Oli had over our whole situation. He agreed to the shopping excursion as well. After that brief stop, we were all piled in to Oli’s jeep and were off to our sanctuary. A day basking in the sun, phones off, what could possibly happen here?

“A Risk Worth Taking” - Chapter 13 - Voight/OC
Master fic list and other chapters can be found here.
Here’s a new chapter! Let me know your thoughts
Chapter 13
When Hank walked back into Precinct 21, Trudy motioned towards the vacant office. Layla jumped up as soon as he rounded the corner to enter.
“Thank God.” Layla said, rushing into his arms and kissing him.
Hank, trying to lighten the mood for her, laughed and said, “What? You don’t think I can handle myself around a prick like Jerry?”
At the mention of Jerry, Layla frowned. “Well, apparently he’s a little more… driven than I thought so who knows what he is capable of?”
Hank saw where her mind was going so he kissed her again and pulled her close.
“Hey. Don’t give him another thought.” He said, quietly, waiting for her to meet his eyes. When she finally did, there was a resolve there - that strength that he loved about her so apparent on her face. He couldn’t hold back his words another second.
“Layla, I love you.”
Layla’s eyes widened in surprise.
“When Camille died, I never thought I’d want a relationship with another woman and I just…” Hank tried to find the right word, “... turned off that part of myself. I thought if I could just put everything I had into the job, I’d be fine.”
Hank reached for her hand and held it.
“I was wrong. And I didn’t know how wrong I was until you came along.”
Layla smiled, happy tears in her eyes, and Hank raised his hand to her cheek, “You are an incredible woman.”
Hank’s eye contact never waivered.
Layla closed her eyes, leaning into his palm against her cheek.
“I love you too.” Layla whispered, covering his hand with her own.
“Even though everybody told me to stay away from you,” Layla teased and Hank chuckled, pulling her close against him.
Layla leaned in and kissed Hank softly, Jerry completely gone from their minds.
The kiss continued until Trudy said very loudly from the desk, “Hey you two. Get a different room.”
Separating, Hank and Layla laughed and shot Trudy apologetic looks.
“Alright. Let’s go home.”
Layla nodded, grabbing her stuff and heading out.
“Thanks for your help, Trudy.” Hank told her as they walked by the desk.
“Don’t mention it.” Trudy said, trying to hold back her grin as she said, “Now get out of here, lovebirds.”
That weekend, a heavy snow storm moved in and blanketed the city. Everyone that could, stayed home. Hank and Layla stayed in too, but they didn’t need the excuse of bad weather.
They spent almost all saturday in bed, kissing, talking, making love. Now that they’d said “I love you,” they were more relaxed with each other, more honest.
“Here you go…” Layla said, walking back into the bedroom with two cups of coffee. Hank didn’t process when she handed him one because he was too busy watching her. She was completely naked.
“Ahem. Hank?” Hank came to and hurriedly took the mug from her. Layla let out a giggle and sat down beside him, leaning against the headboard like he was and sliding back under the sheets.
“Sorry.” Hank said, taking a sip. “If I drink this really fast, will you do that again?”
Layla threw her head back and laughed, then she smiled slyly.
“I don’t think you need any more caffeine, Sargeant. You’ve had quite enough energy this morning, in my opinion.”
It was Hank’s turn to chuckle.
“So, it’s 2:00 PM and we haven’t officially gotten out of bed.”
“I’m okay with that.” Hank replied, taking her mug from her hands and placing it beside his on the nightstand before turning back to her and kissing her deeply.
Layla moaned against his lips as his hands roamed her body beneath the sheets. When his fingers slid between her legs, she gasped, leaning her head back in pleasure as Hank’s lips moved to her neck.
“Hank…” Layla whispered, breathless for the third time that morning.
“Do you want me to stop?” Hank growled, a teasing edge to his voice.
“No. Please.” Layla panted, the rhythm of his fingers bringing her close to the edge.
On the nightstand, Hank’s cell phone started ringing.
Layla opened her eyes, thinking he would stop, but he was watching her.
“Relax, baby. I’m not going anywhere.”
Layla made a sound, somewhere between a moan and a laugh before closing her eyes and surrendering completely to his touch.
The phone kept ringing but Hank maintained his rhythm, speeding up when Layla whispered, “I’m… close…”
Hank watched her face as she cried out, her lips parted, auburn hair fanned around her on the pillow. Breathing heavily, Layla opened her eyes to find Hank smiling at her.
“What?” She asked.
“You’re so beautiful.” Hank told her, and Layla laughed. “Yeah, I’m sure I look real beautiful right about now.”
Hank kissed her before getting up and grabbing his phone.
“Hey Kev, did you call?” she heard him ask, as he stepped out of the room.
Layla used that time alone to compose herself.
When Hank returned, he said, “Kev is doing a comedy show at a club downtown tonight. The whole team is going. Interested?”
Layla smiled. “That sounds like so much fun. I’m in if you are.”
Hank nodded his agreement and got back in bed. Layla slid over to him and laid her head on his chest.
“I might need a nap though, I’ve had an exciting morning.”
Hank laughed and pulled her closer against him, leaning back on his pillow and closing his eyes.
“We’ve got time.” He said, already starting to drift off himself.

Antonio x reader (if you do them, don’t worry if not!!). Antonio helping the reader/whoever through a panic attack
Sorry this took a while! I just didn’t want to mess it up. Also yeah, not a [reader] fic, an OC instead. Hope you like it!
Antonio helps a fellow officer through a panic attack
A grin breaks out on Eve’s face when she recognizes the two approaching officers.
“Dawson and Atwater, Intelligence.”
“MacNamara and my partner, Dallas.”
“Hey Eve!”
She chuckles as Kevin walks up to give her a hug, “Hey Kevin. Hey Antonio.”
“Neil working on those threes?” Antonio laughs as Eve rolls her eyes at Kevin’s question.
“That he is.”
“What do you have for us?” Antonio prompts, peeking through the door behind Eve curiously.
“Call came in about a robbery in progress,” Eve explains, leading the Intelligence officers into the house, “DOA is Edward Alvarez. His file is flagged to notify Intelligence, so…”
She trails off as they come upon the two bodies that lay on the floor of the hall, shattered glass and frames around them.
She lets them take in the scene before motioning for them to follow her to the basement door while MacNamara explains, “We heard them downstairs. Offender came out shooting. Gave chase, but they had a car waiting nearby.”
In the basement, Eve points to a bloodstain on the wall and floor next to a heavy steel door, “They left someone behind down here. He’s at Lakeshore now.”
“What is this?” Kevin muses as he and Antonio lead the way in. Eve and Joe hadn’t gone far in except to clear the room in order to preserve the scene, but now they follow them in, curious.
Eve stands by Joe in the corner as they watch them take a look around the room.
“What’s that?”
She looks over as her partner points his light at a something and walks over to it. But then, a hiss and a clang startles all of them into looking at the door, which has just shut them all in.
Eve runs up to the door and starts pushing at it, feeling along the sides for a handle or a latch, anything, to open it up again.
“Shit,” she mutters when nothing works. She takes a deep breath, trying to slow her racing heart, and steps back. The bottom of her shoe sticks as she moves. She shines her flashlight down and sees the blood on the floor. The air gets trapped in her throat and a shiver darts up her spine.
The others are speaking behind her.
“No cell reception,” Kevin says, holding up his phone screen for everyone to see.
“Radio’s out,” Dawson said, clicking his radio a few times.
“They know we’re here, though, right? I mean, ME and crime lab should be on their way, and, our statements…” MacNamara trails off.
As MacNamara’s voice was getting quieter, a thump, thump, thump, was sounding in Eve’s ears and getting louder.
“Yeah, definitely,” Kevin’s voice cuts into the rhythmic thumping in her ears.
“Our sergeant knows we’re here. Plus if he doesn’t show, he’ll be expecting Kev and me soon anyway.” Antonio adds.
Anything said next is lost to her ears as Eve rubs the blood on her shoe against the floor, and continues shining her light on the door, trying to find a way out and ignore her pounding heart.
As she feels around again, she sees her hands trembling, the beam of light coming from the flashlight in her grip quivering. As her eyes track the beam of light, her vision begins to blur. She brings shaking fingers up to her eyes and rubs at them, feeling her fingers slip against the moisture on her face.
It’s too hot in here, there’s no air. Eyes squeezed closed, she yanks against her vest harshly, successfully getting the vest half-off as the trembling makes its way down to her legs. Suddenly a numb feeling spread up through her toes. As her legs give out from under her, she feels hands against her shoulders, and she does not crash to the floor like she expects, but is gently lowered. The hands leave and she opens her eyes to see Antonio in front of her, concern clear on his face. Her heart pounds faster, harder. She tells herself to take a deep breath, but she can feel them coming too sharp and shallow. Her vision begins to tunnel, blackness creeping in as a thought travels through her mind.
“I’m dying. I’m going to die here.” In front of my partner and my superiors.
“No Eve. Eve you’re not dying. You’re safe. You’re having a panic attack. It will pass. You’re safe.”
She brings her hands up to pull against her vest again, ripping it off so it slides off her to her side.
“Eve, you’re okay. I’ve got you.” Antonio’s hands come into her view steadily, “Is it okay if I touch you?”
She nods as tears continue to stream down her cheeks. He smiles at her gently and takes a hold of her hands in his.
“Focus on breathing. Take deep breaths, okay.”
She tries to pull in a deep breath, but it’s hard, the air hiccuping in her chest. A sob tears out of her and she screws her eyes closed tight.
“Hey, it’s okay.” Antonio squeezes her hand, “You’re okay. You’re safe. I’m right here with you.”
She opens her eyes as Antonio lays one of her hands against her stomach, “Breathe with me, alright? Breathe in.” He pauses, “Breathe out. You can do this. Breathe in-”
She pulls in ragged breath, after ragged breath, trying to match his words, all the while he continues the pattern, and breathes with her.
“There we go. Good job, Eve.” As her breaths come a bit slower and deeper than before, she feels her belly moving beneath her hand in time with the breaths, and she focuses on that movement.
“You’re doing great,” Antonio rubs her shoulder comfortingly, “Has this happened before?”
Shame fills Eve as she thinks back to the last time she’d had an attack like this, years ago. She lowers her eyes to the floor and nods, tears filling her eyes again.
“It’s okay. What do you need? Do you have medication?”
She shakes her head, regretting it as an ache begins to make itself known in her skull.
“Okay,” Antonio looks up quickly as she feels vibrations, something pounding against the wall at her back.
MacNamara’s voice, a bit unsteady, yells to whoever is pounding against the door, “We’re in here-”
He’s cut off, and Kevin’s voice, more calm, replaces his, “We can’t figure out how to open the door, Sarge.”
Eve’s attention is directed back to Antonio as he speaks to her again, “See, we’re fine. You’re fine. You’re safe.”
This time, the words have her nodding. She’s still shaking, she can feel the exhaustion in her shoulders and her chest, and she feels anxious.
She begins to fidget, but she doesn’t want to get up just yet, just breathe.
“You feeling better?” Antonio asks her. She nods, and feels her face heat up a bit, this time in embarrassment for what had just happened.
“I’m sorry, that was,” she pauses and focuses on taking a deep breath again.
“No. You have nothing to be sorry about.” He rubs her shoulder and smiles sincerely, “You know who should be sorry? Neil. He got Diego hooked on that one videogame.”
“Portal Knights, right?” Eve asked with a chuckle.
“Yeah, that one.” Antonio laughs.
“Neil loves that game. He was so happy when Diego started playing it with him, too.”
“Yeah. He’s always building something new on that.”
They both look up when the door finally opens.
Kevin quickly thanks the officers and Sergeant Voight and, with a nod and a smile to Antonio and Eve, motions for them to follow him, taking them and their curious looks away from Eve.
Her partner is standing uncertain at the door, waiting for her.
“You ready to get out of here?” Antonio asks, holding a hand out for her.
“Yes, please.”
He helps her to her feet, and, with her partner following, they make their way out of the house.
It felt good to move and walk around. The fresh air was really helping.
Antonio stays by her side as she continued to breathe in the fresh air.
“Eve.” She looks over at him and her partner as he holds out a bottle of water for her.
She accepts it gratefully, and takes a few sips. She was now feeling extremely exhausted, and it must have showed.
“Wait here, okay?” Antonio said, walking over to Sergeant Voight.
She watches him, wondering what he’s doing. She is surprised when Voight motions MacNamara over to them.
Antonio jogs back over to her, “Okay. Eve, would you like me to drive you home? I explained to my Sergeant. MacNamara’s statement will do for now. He suggests you take it easy and head home.”
She thinks about it. She was so tired, and going home sounded like heaven right now, “Yes, please.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
In his car, as he starts it up and adjusted the A/C for her, she grabs his attention, “Antonio, thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Eve.”

tell me about one of ur fab ocs u don't talk about much!!!!!!
oh thats a hard one... did think of my inside job oc the other day because the song accidentally in love came on... which i say because thats bretts favorite song and absolutely their wedding song because clyde wanted to see the look on bretts face when he walks down the aisle...... bretts heart would explode because that means clyde knows him so well...
clyde himself is a nasty guy, hes always covered in pen marks because he's a decoder for incognito and spends all his time deciphering all types of ciphers, he's well versed in all of them, so any notes he writes down is in a cipher and while it looks spooky out of context, most times its just a grocery list.
hes also almost always awake late at night working away so you may walk into his room thats dark as hell and all you'll see is his eyes reflecting the light off his computer screen...

An English Rose
Jughead x OC
Word Count: 2278
Summary: There’s a new student at Riverdale High. She’s from a wealthy background as she’s the daughter of a big shot, British businessman. Jughead’s not happy, given his history and past dealings with people like Lodges. So he’s not very trusting of the new girl, but Lottie is determined to prove that she’s more than just her privileged background.
Warnings: Nope, don’t think so
A/N: So I’m English and I thought this might an interesting idea to explore and why not show Jughead some love. This story might just be a one off, I’m not sure if I can develop it further, it might be crap, I don’t know. Let me know what you think. Anyway, hope you like it!
Tag List: @lolabean1998 (just let me know if you wanted to be added to the tag list for any of my stories).
"Another Veronica, great," Jughead mumbles from his position on the couch in the student lounge.
"Who is?" Kevin asks.
"That girl, the one stood with Betty." He directs the boy's attention to the pair, stood talking by the door. The blonde was stood with a tall, dark haired girl dressed in a light blue skater dress and pristine white heels.
"Oh, heard she's related to royalty," Kevin says with a big smile.
"Not every British person is connected to royalty." Cheryl rolls her eyes.
"What we talking about?" Veronica sits down on the spare couch, Archie by her side.
"The new girl." Toni says with her eyes on the door.
"Stop staring." Cheryl playfully bats her girlfriends arm.
"So have we heard?"
"Kev, thinks she's a princess," Toni mocks.
"What?"
Jughead scoffs. "She's a princess all right."
"Please explain."
"Jug thinks she's another y-" Kevin's words are silenced by a dramatic cough from Jughead.
"So," Toni starts. "As far as we know she's from England, a daughter of some rich businessman."
"So what is she doing in Riverdale then?"
"That's where our trail of information runs cold."
"Well let's find out. As much fun as this speculation of the mystery girl is, I'd much prefer some actual facts." She stands up. "Betty?” she calls. The girl walks over, followed by the topic of the group’s conversation.
"Hi, guys," she says. "This Charlotte, she come all the way from England." She smiles excitedly.
"You can just call me Lottie."
"Well, Lottie, it is a pleasure to meet you." Veronica offer her hand. "I'm Veronica Lodge."
She accepts. "It's lovely to meet you too, Veronica."
"This is Archie Andrews." She points to the redhead still seated.
"Hi."
"Hello."
"And Kevin Keller, Toni Topaz, Cher-"
"I'm Cheryl Blossom." The girl stands.
"Since we're using full names - I'm Charlotte James." She laughs nervously.
"Oh and that's Jughead," Veronica says pointing to the pouting boy in the corner.
"Jughead?” Lottie questions unsure whether she's being tricked or not.
"Yeah, problem?"
"Not at all. It's lovely to meet you." She looks back to the bulk of the group. "All of you."
"Sit, please, we have questions." Veronica takes her seat by her boyfriend. Betty takes the spare seat next to Kevin.
"You do?" Lottie sits besides Jughead, the only open seat. She smiles to the boy, but his head remains down as his attention goes back to his laptop.
"Yes-"
"They think you're a princess," Jug spits not looking up.
Veronica rolls her eyes at the boy.
"Not a princess, sorry to disappoint. But I have met the Queen."
"Really?" Kevin perks up.
"No." Lottie giggles.
"Oh,” he says defeated.
"So you're from England?"
"I am. Manchester to be exact. My father's name is Robert James, the notorious businessman and CEO and founder of James Industries. The company has expanded and my dad wanted to follow it over to keep an eye on it. And as I am a minor I came along too. And I think that is everything." She smiles. "Oh, wait, the company is fairly run with no criminal or under the table dealings. I am not a mob daughter," she laughs nervously.
They stare blankly at the girl. Then they all look to Veronica.
"Did I say something wrong?"
"Let's just say, my family has a shady history when it comes to business."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Not at all. It's over now. And I'm sure Riverdale will happily welcome a wholesome family business with open arms."
"Thank you. Actually, my father's throwing a party this evening. A business thing to smoosh associates. But if you're free, it would be nice if you all could came. Keep me from being bored to death."
"We would love to!" Veronica beams. "We'll be there."
"Sounds great," Betty says.
"Perfect."
Jughead just rolls his eyes.
"I'm not going," Jughead says between chews of his burger. He sits in the cafeteria with Archie and Veronica opposite him and Betty by his side.
"And why not?" Veronica sighs.
"Come on, Jug.” Archie nudges his friend. "Could be fun."
"Fun? How is being in stuck in a room with a load of stuffy suits gonna be fun?"
"We can dress up..." Betty offers.
"More reason to stay home.”
“Do you always have to suck the fun out of everything, Jughead?” Veronica rolls her eyes. “We are all going and that is that.”
“Just think of the food,” Betty whispers. Now that’s how you persuade him to do something.
“Wow,” Betty whispers as the group steps into the oversized lounge. “This place-”
“Puts the Pembroke to shame?” Jughead finishes.
“Excuse me?” Veronica eyes widen.
“He’s got a point, V.” Archie shrugs. “This place-”
“Is incredible,” Betty says, sticking her tongue out at Jughead, finally able to finish her statement.
“Whatever, let’s find Lottie.” Veronica steps forward. “She must be here someone.”
“Amongst all the middle aged men and trophy wives,” Jughead spits.
“I’m suddenly feeling under dressed.” V smooths her black fitted dress.
“You’re feeling under dressed?” Toni tugs out short plaid skirt, pulling it further down her fish net wrapped legs.
“You look beautiful, Cha Cha.” Cheryl wraps her arm around the girl’s waist.
“And we’re still not over that nickname?”
“Never.” Cheryl winks.
“Well, you look sensational as always.” She looks the girl, dressed in a classic red dress, up and down.
“Maybe we should go?” Betty says nervously.
“We got Jug in a tie, we’re not wasting this.” Archie shakes his head.
“Hiya,” Lottie calls walking up to the others. She seems to just have appeared from nowhere. The pale pink, strapless bodice hugs her upper body and the full skirt swishes as she walks, the longer train trails behind as she crosses the room. “You guys came,” she smiles.
“Of course.”
“You look beautiful,” Betty says.
“I’ve already tripped over this three times,” she laughs. “You all look amazing.” Her eyes fall to Toni. “I love your jacket.” She tilts her head. “Is the snake symbolic?”
“She’s a Serpent,” Cheryl says proudly.
“A Serpent?”
“That’s for another day.” Veronica steps forward taking hold of Lottie’s arm. “Your apartment is gorgeous.”
“Thank you, drinks everyone?”
"Jughead?" The boy looks up to see Lottie smiling down at him. "May I?" She points to space on the couch beside him. He shrugs. "Okay." She sits. "Are you all right?"
"Fine."
She nods. "Why are you sat here on your own?"
"I'm eating."
"I can see that." She's silent for a minute. She stares forward fiddling with her fingers. "You don't like me very much do you?"
"I don't not like you."
"Well, something is wrong. You've been sitting here with a face like a smacked arse all night."
"You been watching me all night?"
"I took a few breaks, but you're pretty hard to miss."
"I didn't want to come."
"Then why did you?"
"My friends made me."
"Right. You don’t have your own mind?” He’s quiet. “Well, I'll leave you to sulk, shall I? Because I am getting the feeling I am the problem." She smiles, then stands.
"Sorry," he mumbles. "I've not had great experiences with people like you."
"People like me?"
"Rich-"
"You think I'm a rich bitch?" she laughs. "There's no need to answer that. People always assume. I'm from money so I must be a selfish, narcissistic, ignorant cow. I've been surrounded by people like that my whole life. And I don't like them either, that's why I try my very best not be that. But clearly I have failed if you think that little of me. Have a nice evening, Jughead." She shakes her head and walks away.
"I'm from the Southside of town," Jughead says standing behind Lottie's shoulder. She turns to face him, excusing herslef from the conversation in was in with two of her father’s associates. "My whole family have been dumped on by well to do people. My home, my dad's job, my life even have been stolen by wealthy business people."
"Your life?"
"I almost lost it because of a power crazed mobster."
“Maybe you can tell me about it, your life, one day and I can tell you about mine. I’m more than just money, be nice you show you that.”
"I've just had bad experiences with people who have money."
"I understand. But maybe give me a chance to prove I'm different. Despite this-" She gestures to the ostentatious surroundings of the party. "Maybe I can stop you pouting in the corner and putting a dampen on the party."
"It really did seem to be swinging until I turned up."
"Exactly, it needs all the help it can get." She looks over her shoulder, then back to Jughead. "So are you gonna give me that chance?" she asks.
"I don't think I need to," he smiles. "I've been kinda shit and you're still being nice."
"I'd still like that chance." She offers her hand. He accepts and he's pulled through a door. The music and chatter slowly grows quiet as they walk through a long hallway. "In here." She gestures him into a large room with a cream carpet and walls, a large bed positioned in the centre and mahogany side tables and dresser and a over-sized chandelier hangs from the ceiling.
"This is your room?"
"Yes, why?"
"It's bigger than my whole trailer."
"Oh. I could find a smaller room..."
"Got a closet?"
She laughs nervously.
"Joking."
"Of course. Sit, please." She points to the bed, then walks to the dresser pulling off her heels. "Thank God, my feet are killing," she smiles to the boy, who just watches her. "Truthfully I'm not a big fan of parties either. That's why I invited you all, thought it would be a little bit less hellish if I had some friendly faces. They seem to be enjoying themselves."
"It's more their scene, than mine. But you didn't really invite me."
"I did." She walks over to him. "I invited all of you. I wanted you all to come."
"Really?"
"Yes. Why?" She sits beside him. "Why wouldn't I want you to come?"
"I'm more of an after thought, an addition to them."
"Want to know a secret?" she whispers. "I wanted you to come the most."
"You did?"
"Yeah. What can I say, the odd, loner boy absorbed in his laptop, who clearly did not like me, intrigued me." She shrugs.
"I could get offended by that."
"Is any of it untrue? Exactly." She laughs. “Although, I shouldn't assume, seeing as I told you off for doing that.” She dramatically flops flat down to the bed, her top half hanging off the edge. She fusses about, sits back up holding onto a bottle of champagne with a grin on her face..
"Most teenagers hide Vodka..."
"Drink?"
"I'm good."
"Most teenagers accept."
"I don't drink. My father's an alcoholic."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"He's sober now. He's doing well, almost six months. He's really turning it all around."
"I'm glad to hear that." She puts the bottle to the floor. "My mother was killed by a drunk driver," she says. "You don't have to say anything. It's okay. I just... you shared something difficult with me. I thought I'd do the same. I meant what I said, I’d like to know about your life. Maybe I can explain my family wasn’t always this way. My dad worked hard to get where he is, he did it on his own. And he didn't do it by tearing down or destroying others.”
“Tell me,” he says.
She nods, then takes a deep breath. “My father is the... greatest man I know. He’s so strong and brave and resilient. I was quite young when my mother died. But I could still see how much it broke him. How much he wanted to just fall apart, to give in to it all. But he didn’t. He managed to pull himself out of bed each day and keep going. Because he knew I needed him. He was strong for me. He took care of me. He did everything to make me happy, feel safe and loved. He worked hard to repair our life, to get all of this. He kept the business going so he could give me a good life. And our life now is the result of nothing, but hard work, commitment, determination and love. Now I’m old enough, we keep each other from collapsing even when it feels like the only option, we manage to hold each other up.”
Jughead stares at her in silence. He didn’t take her eyes of her for the entirety of her speech. He doesn’t want to speak, he wants to hug her, feel her close to him. So he does. He pulls her into a hug and she accepts wrapping her arms around him tightly.
Then there's a knock at the door. “Lottie?” She pulls herself out of Jughead’s arms and hops off the bed, quickly makes her way to open the door. Her new friends greet her on the other side.
"Hello?"
“Finally,” Kevin sighs.
“We’ve already tried six rooms already.” Betty smiles.
"Room for a few more." Veronica raises her eyebrow to Jughead sat nervously on the bed.
"Of course. Bored already?"
"Only so many times you can hear old men talk about... what were they talking about again?" She turns to Archie.
“Data something...” He shrugs.
She laughs. "Come in." She gestures and the group piles in, all giving the eye to Jughead. Lottie pauses by the door. She smiles to him. He smiles back. Maybe this English Rose isn't as bad as he once thought.
A/T: Thank you for reading, hope you liked it, thought I’d expand and try writing with a different character. It means the world that you take time to read my work.
A/A/T: Also, if you’ve got any ideas for future stories or characters you want to just let me know.
Thanks again, all my love,

MASTERLIST
Part 4 <<< >>> Part 6
The moment Kevin dropped his sandwich and stayed still with his jaw hanging open, all the others knew there was something going on.
“Kev?” Betty inquired with her usual gentle voice, putting down her coke can.
“I knew I'd seen her before!” He exclaimed, looking at each of his friends like he has had this epiphany and waiting for a reaction. They were twenty minutes into their lunch and it came completely out of nowhere so he didn't get anything but confused frowns. “The new girl!”
“Iris, her name's Iris,” Veronica said and everyone nodded.
“Did you meet her in town this summer?” Betty asked, drawing Kevin's attention back to her.
Archie, Veronica, and Betty were now hanging on Kevin's every word, waiting for him to explain.
“I heard she's barely left her house, nobody knew what she looked like until today,” Archie interjected. He placed his guitar down across his thighs.
“No, I didn't see her like that. I saw a picture of her, in my dad's office!” Kevin impatiently told them, enjoying seeing them all gawk and share stunned looks.
“What?” Veronica blurted out with a smile on her face. Gossips on the first day of school, she was thrilled.
“You can't tell anyone what I'm about to share, guys,” Kevin warned them, leaning in so nobody else would hear. They all mimicked him. “You know last week there was some police activity by Sweetwater river, right? Well, it's because they found the bullet.”
Archie visibly paled and asked with a hesitant voice, “The bullet? From the shot that was heard on the fourth of July?”
“Yes!”
“Oh my god,” Betty trailed off, looking away. “What does Iris have to do with it?”
“She has to do with it that she's in my dad's file about Jason's death, and moved in two days before it happened. That's weird-”
“She doesn't look shady at all,” Veronica said with a pout and a shrug before returning to eating her cherry tomatoes and stealing some of Betty's fries as though they were old friends.
“I don't know Kev, it's a little quick for us to judge her, we don't know anything about her!” Betty argued and pushed her plate of fries toward Veronica. “I have a good feeling about her.”
“She layers her tank tops, that's suspicious enough for me,” Kevin commented, earning a frank laugh from everyone because omg that was so gay of him to say.
“Where is she? Why didn't she come sit with you?” Archie asked the three others since they are the only ones who talked to her.
“She said she was going to find some people to sit with,” Betty told him.
“That's suspicious,” Kevin said, trying to prove his point.
“No, I think it's brave,” Betty shook her head and Veronica nodded in agreement, silently sucking at her straw and drinking her coke. “How many people do that?”
“No one does that, Betty,” Kevin replied. “She doesn't know anyone but you.”
“Maybe she does,” Archie finally said, earning back the attention of the group. “She can't have spent the whole summer in her room doing nothing, she must have met people. Someone's got to know her.”
“Talking about the newbie?” A shrill voice interrupted the group's little aparte. “Why hello,” Cheryl said and gestured Betty to make room for her to sit down across Veronica. “Which one are you? The hermit or the New York girl?” She asked, completely unbothered by the harsh stares she received for her rudeness.
But was Cheryl Blossom really rude? It was a term that seemed only to be applied to people who are usually well-mannered or at the very least somewhat polite toward others, but Cheryl Blossom, from the top of her high horse, seemed to always talk like she were the Queen and everyone else could kiss her feet – if she didn't fear they would stain her Louboutins that is.
“I-” Veronica started with a displeased frown and a look to Betty who nodded. “I'm Veronica Lodge.”
“Oh so you're the one whose dad is in prison,” Cheryl said with her ever so huge smile. “I can't imagine how that feels... I've heard so much good about you! I hope you're coming to the cheer leading tryouts, I'm the captain of the River Vixens this year and I need fresh meat to work with.”
“I'll think about it,” Veronica answered uncomfortably. “Actually, Betty and I were just talking about it, maybe we'll both try out.”
Next to Cheryl, Betty was shaking her head as discreetly as possible and stared down at her empty pate of fries and Cheryl's snapped toward her. She scrunched up her nose as though she had only just realized who she was sitting next to, even though she had asked her to move a minute before that.
“Well, it's open to everyone,” she said with a forced smile. “Maybe you'll do better than last time, right Betty?”
Betty smiled tensely and looked away, meeting Kevin's eyes and concealing a laugh when he rolled her eyes at Cheryl's antics.
“As long as you don't bring the other girl, ugh” Cheryl grunted and stood up, effectively showing her endless legs to everyone. If she wasn't such a cold-hearted succubus, she would be close to perfection.
“What do you mean?” Betty inquired, unable to stop herself from asking even though Cheryl had just been openly rude to her and basically told her she had no chance to make it into the Vixens.
“I saw her sitting in the shade with this creeper Jones,” she said with a slight shrug and brushing her hair before her shoulder. “Talk about a social suicide, lunching with Wednesday Addams on your first day of school. She'd be a poor addition for the Vixen, I don't want her tarnishing our image.”
With that – and a good measure of hip swaying – Cheryl left their table, but not before shooting one last 'you better show up at the tryouts' look to Veronica.
“This girl gives me the chills,” Kevin said as soon as she was out of eavesdrop.
“Care to tell me who that was?” Veronica scoffed, still looking at the ginger walking away. Her question earned a round of deep sighs.
*
“Who's this?” Iris asked when she saw the same girl stop in her tracks, stare at Jughead and her, then resume walking before repeating the actions in the same order.
She tried to point discreetly toward the tall pale ginger girl whose apparent physical perfection was hard to miss anyway. Her long wavy ginger hair literally cascaded down the front on her left shoulder like a waterfall. She wore high heels and Iris for one couldn't imagine the kind of pain this girl went through if she wore shoes like this on a daily basis, and she didn't even see the point of it because her legs were seemingly endless from were she was watching.
“Why is this ginger goddess staring at me like I'm wearing a rainbow wig?” She insisted when she got no answer.
When her eyes returned to Jughead he wasn't looking at her anymore like he did seconds before when they were talking, he was looking at the girl. His mouth was twisted in an unpleasant way and he was clearly glaring daggers at the girl.
“Have you ever seen The Devil Wears Prada?” He asked. “And don't think about denying it, every girl has watched this movie,” he added before Iris has a chance to say anything.
“Then why do you ask?” Iris rolled her eyes and sat up straight. A little smirk appeared on the corner of Jughead's mouth and his attention was back on her as quickly as it left before. “I've seen it. Once or twice.”
More like a good dozen times, but this was irrelevant to the conversation and Iris held onto what little dignity she had.
“Well, Cheryl certainly saw it more than 'once or twice',” Jughead snickered and made sure Iris could hear the quotation marks in his voice. “And she took it literally.”
Iris titled er head and smiled softly, as though she was trying to read between the lines and see if Jughead was simply messing with her.
“You're exaggerating!” She exclaimed. “She can't be that bad.”
His eyebrows shot up in a rather comical manner.
“I mean- right?” She added a bit less confident in her former statement. “She looks like-”
“-freakin' Satan in a pair of shorts,” Jughead cut her off and mumbled under his breath. “If you try out for the Vixens you'll see for yourself.”
“You're not pushing me to become a Vixen just because you have this image of me being a pale imitation of this girl and want to be proven right, do you?” Iris asked dryly, her tongue clicking against her cheek.
Jughead's hands fell each side of him and he stopped looking at her, almost like it was too hard to lie while making eye contact. It surprised her, he seemed like the type of person who served casual white lies on a daily basis, if only to be left alone to write or the typical 'are you okay' 'yeah' when really, he wasn't okay. More often than not, Iris wondered if he got any sleep at all and she had to bite back the question for fear of being rude. She had a feeling that if she ever let him close down on himself, he'll never open up to her again. Not that he had so far.
“Not my style,” he said with a small smile that Iris suspected he was only giving her to drift her attention from his previous sentence and move on from this conversation.
“Are you going to Pop's after school?” She asked, if only because it made Jughead so blatantly uncomfortable to talk about his internal struggle to put Iris in a box.
She wasn't looking at him, her schedule was resting on her lap for display and she studied it intently, not wanting to have to pull it out of her pocket every five minutes because she was lost of something.
“I have to go home first, I forgot my charger,” he answered just as distractedly as Iris asked the question.
To anyone who could have listened to the conversation, it must have sounded like they weren't even paying attention to what the other said, but in reality they ere weighing out every single word and purposely not making eye contact.
“Okay, I can pick you up from there if you want?” She suggested out of sheer kindness. She didn't see him shudder and look up and continued talking. “I also have to make a brief stop at my house but since I go with my car anyway I might as well give you a ride when I go there.”
“It's fine, I can walk,” Jughead replied. He blushed a bit – thank goodness she was still glaring at her schedule since she saw she had PE this afternoon.
“Nonsense. I have a car, you have my number, text me your address,” Iris answered with unfaltering logic. “If that's not- overstepping a boundary?” She said it like a question though it wasn't supposed to be one.
Jughead was constantly amazed – and by amazed he meant utterly astounded – that even after all those weeks and despite looking fresh a morning dew, Iris always seemed so unsure of herself. In most matters she was okay and rather bold but sometimes Jughead caught her in a moment of self-doubt. Today seemed to be filled of those, since she only just told him that he didn't have to hang out with her if he didn't want to moments ago, only to serve him this one now. He would have laughed if it wasn't to obvious she wasn't joking at all.
She could have told him to meet her at the other end of the town and Jughead would have walked all the way; she could have told him she wanted to do something else than go to Pop's tonight and chances are Jughead would have skipped his daily black coffee with two sugars at the Chock' Lit Shoppe; she could have said anything and Jughead would have said amen. Probably. It cost him literally nothing to admit it to himself that she had grown on him, but hell if he was ever going to say it out loud, he had a reputation to uphold.
“Yeah right, I'll text you, you just tell me when you're ready to go,” he finally answered, not even giving enough credit to her moment of hesitation to respond to her question. She knew it was a silly question, but it fell from her lips before she could swallow it back. It caused a huge smile to spread her face and it did things inside Jughead. He felt proud of making her smile, even if he didn't do anything special.
“I can't wait to see your house. You spend so much time at Pop's that I began to wonder if you weren't living there,” she laughed lightheartedly, feeling like an invisible weigh had been lifted from her chest. “Well, I better get going and see if I can find Betty and Veronica. I still don't know where half of my classes are and there's no way I'm wandering the hallways alone like a lost puppy.”
Jughead nodded and grabbed his laptop just as Iris walked away – he still had half an hour before his next class and he wanted to get some more writing done. Iris calmly strutted back towards the cafeteria and let her eyes scan the dispersing crowd to see if she could find Betty's high ponytail or Veronica's shiny pearl necklace somewhere. It wasn't too difficult since the girls were waiting for her next to the doors, chatting and laughing about something a tall ginger boy just said. How many gingers lived here? However small Riverdale was, it certainly exceeded the usual percentage of gingers.
Once she reached them, Betty smiled as though Iris was the sun and stars and just illuminated her life by inviting herself into the conversation. She introduced the boy as being Archie and by the way her eyes linger on him as little longer than necessary, Iris understood that she was into him – then by the way Veronica smirked at her, Iris knew she saw it too. They all walked inside and split up after Betty told Archie she still had some touring to do.
“Betty!” Veronica stretched her name to no end and gave her a playful nudge. “This is one fine looking ginger.”
“Archie?” Betty asked, feigning to be shocked at the sheer thought of him as 'fine looking'. “Oh, pff,” she dismissed Veronica's comment with a wave of the hand. “We've been friends since- well, forever. He's my best friend, that's all.”
“You don't look at your friends like they are eye-candy,” Iris laughed with Veronica and Betty's cheek turned a light shade of pink. “Why don't you make a move before Kevin tries to steal him?”
“Oh please!” Veronica giggled. “Archie is so straight I saw Kevin's gayness shrink back when we sat down. Did you find anyone to eat with by the way?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Iris said. “I sat by the big tree over there, with Jughead.”
“I'm sorry, who?” Veronica asked, obviously startled by the name.
“Jughead,” Betty repeated before Iris had a chance to. “He's a friend of Archie's- I think- I mean, they had an argument this summer so I don't know really.” She seemed lost in her thoughts all of a sudden. “I haven't talked to him in a while now, he became distant over the last couple years but we were pretty close when we were younger. How'd you convince him to let you sit with him?”
“I didn't ask, I just sat down.”
Iris shrugged to throw them off and make it look like it was no big deal – she wasn't necessarily keen on letting them know she had befriended Jughead during summer and simply avoided any order interaction with people of her age. The mood had changed and grown significantly more tense – did Iris just suck the joy out of the room simply by being there? The others looked like they were having fun until she interrupted them.
“Oooh!” Veronica sing sang and bolted forward. “I know how you can talk to Archiekins!” She was beaming when she grabbed a poster and ripped it off the wall to show Betty what it said.
A date and “HOMECOMING” in big fat bold letters with lots of glitter and using only the colors of Riverdale High.
“I love dances, we can get ready together and you still have a whole week to ask him to come with you,” Ronnie kept on talked, making hand gesture to draw a vivid image of what this evening could be like while Betty and Iris uncomfortably glanced at each other, between fear and embarrassment.
A dance. A freakin' dance. Iris had to find a way out of this one and make up an excuse, because there was no way in hell she was going to spend her birthday surrounded by dancing idiots and couples looking at one another like love struck puppies.
A/N: I have precisely zero idea where this is going but I’ll keep writing until something happens (in the story of in me, you never know when I’ll have my epiphany). Let me hear what you think about my OC so far!

Things are going good, it seems I get more and more sketches in the sketch dump every month! Well, there we go, first I wanna talk about my newest obsession (again), which I recently rediscoverd: Mystic Messenger! I drew MC here and Yoosung, since I got his route. (Even tho I only play it, to get to Seven's route<3) I drew him as an adorable puppy. Originally I planned, on drawing a mirrored version, where he's a yandere (refering to the bad ending 1). Then I got a little hand practise, nothing special. For an other pic, which I gonna upload soon. (Mizu with her hand up belongs to the same group of pic's) And some eye practise test, which actually belongs to the little fellar with the beansprout on her head. That's an oc of a dear friend of mine, which I just skribbled. Check out her tumblr and YouTube channel, she's amazing! On the top right, is a redesign idea for an oc, I made when I was 12 or so. They were a group of 3 magical girls, getting their magic powers from different pets. (No, I didn't watch tokyo mewmew back then xD) Ohh, and then another cutie, which I got nostalgic about: Silver. He is and always was my fav Sonic char. I recently found an amazing YouTube Channel (Peter Knetter). He makes Sonic reviews and has a little companion called: Cardboard Silver. And I just fell for it. It's adorable and I loooove it! Then we get to a little design, for the Dragon Knight Kev, from the D&D rpg thingy I planned. It's just a little sketch idea for his outfit. Andy and John (digital drawing of the two 'elves'; Blond gurl and the guy with the staff) belong there too. But their design is quiet final. One drawing of a magical cat. From the same rp Raito is from. That's how I always imagined his little spirit companion "Darkness". (Hello Darkness my old friend...) For the drawing of Akai (fox girl/boy from Arc) I actually planned a series as well, where I draw them in their representing zodiac... Which I didn't had the time or patience to do so. But hey, at least a halfway finished version of Akai as Gemini! The two front and back view, of the two differnt girls (Named "Wave" and "Edna") are also redesigns for old oc's, I made for a story back when I was roughly 14. Much nostalgia this month and many magical girl stuff. Since who could have guessed it: They were magical girls too. Very inspired from "Pretty Cure" back then. Last but not least, the sketch of Mizu in the left bottom corner: Just a doodle, because I was in the mood for it. Monthly Sketch Dump The monstly sketch dump, is something, I'm uploading every 30th or 31th of the month (last day of the month). It contains all the sketches, which I didn't publish, but drew throughout the month. It contains all kind of drawings, sketches, original content and fanart. All of the photos been photographed by me and edited to see them better. All/Most of the content in this section will be traditional art/sketches! Thanks for the attention and I hope you guys like it.
