Deathlok II #29
Ho hum.
Flashback/recap issue.
Because it's an INFINITY CRUSADE tie-in nothing actually happens. Both Deathlok and Siege are judged by a disembodied voice. That's basically it. And we get another look at stuff from previous issues. It's all kinda pointless. But the cover is really nice. That's something, I guess.

The cover of 1991’s The Punisher #47 has the dubious distinction of being the only Marvel cover I know of with FOUR artist credits: “KK” (presumably assistant editor Kevin Kobasic), “JR SR” (John Romita Sr., almost certainly), Hugh Haynes (who penciled the interior of the issue) and Terry Austin. Operation Desert Storm’s dates were January 17 to April 11, 1991; what we’re seeing here is the Australian printing, but the American edition (with the same cover copy) was cover-dated April, so the cover text would have been VERY current at the time of publication. Interestingly, the letters page includes an ad for 50% off subscriptions purchased for an Operation Desert Storm soldier. Also, what is with the scimitars everybody’s waving around on this cover?

Review: The 99: Sacrifice
The 99: Sacrifice feels like the "After School Special" of the series, which can be good, but this team has told better stories #comics
Within the medium of comics, no one gets death as deftly as sequential art does. Books, can portray a death quite convincingly, describing every detail, as if you were in the room. Movies and tv shows, do it well too, as they show the viewer visually and sometimes not, what occurs. As the death of a beloved character, can make the audience gasp or cheer. This last season of Game Of Thrones, saw…

In his quest for world betterment at any cost, Harada sought out and activated many potential psiots like himself. Those who survived, but whose powers he deemed to have no value to his cause, were hidden away at this installation. But Livewire, having studied Harada’s greatest strengths and learned his deepest weaknesses, senses opportunity where he once saw failure. A young girl who can talk to birds… A boy who can make inanimate objects gently glow… To others, these are expensive disappointments. But, to Livewire, they are secret weapons…in need of a leader. Now, as a mechanized killer called Rex-O seeks to draw them out, Livewire and her new team of cadets will be forced to put their powers into action…in ways they never could have imagined…

Deathlok II #28
Good.
"...this place is using a transmitter to try and flood the continent."
I like this villain's plan. I even like the villain himself. (He's more interesting here than he was in his first outing.) The art impresses, and Siege continues to make a terrific partner for Deathlok. Had the book continued, I feel the way to go would have been to make them full-time partners. There's strong contrast between them, and lots of story potential. The Luther Manning b-story also has obvious potential. I hope we get to see it realised before the series is cancelled.
The highlight of this issue is Deathlok being rejected by the Goddess. That's some nice storytelling.
