#kevin day is a girly going through a break up

This is possibly the funniest thing I've found on Nora's tumblr. Kevin had long hair, I repeat KEVIN DAY HAD LONG HAIR. Why don't I see fanfics where the foxes make fun of kevin for it? I love him but i don't think long hair would suit him. Nora said it was cuz Riko liked it on him and Kevin chopped it off after Kathy's show. Kevin Day, grew his hair out for his best friend. Hair that was long enough to go into his eyes and mouth, and annoy him when he plays. Also, they say hair carries memories right? So really one of Kevin's first steps in reclaiming himself was cutting his hair off. Now listen, I absolutely do not give a shit about the implications of that on Riko and Kevin's relationship or how that might have led to "it's easier to be straight". What I do give a shit about is how much Kevin is willing to do for those he loves. It's probably one of the most telling moments of that.

Part 6 of the Mamma Mia series
Early morning sunlight filters through the curtains, waking you from a dreamless sleep. Sighing, you snuggle back into the pillows, not quite wanting to get up yet. Yesterday had been emotional for sure, but it felt good to have it all in the open. Somehow you felt lighter, knowing that Mark could see where you were coming from and at the same time helping you understand why he had felt the need to make those choices. You find yourself surprised at the excitement of what kind of date Kevin might plan for you next. There’s also a part of you that’s hesitant; last night’s conversation about the end of your relationship with Mark and the ramifications of that has made you realise a couple of things about the way you approached your relationship with Kevin. As you get out of bed and turn on the shower, you think back to that night in Spa. Kevin had grown tired of you keeping him at an arm’s length, of your hesitancy to commit. You knew he was right, but him seeing right through you, questioning whether you loved your job more than him, rattled you more than it probably should. Now looking back, you can see it so clearly - the way you had dealt –or more accurately, hadn’t dealt with that break up years prior affected how you approached new relationships. You hate that you had allowed that experience to taint everything else, but more than anything, you hate that, in doing so, you hurt Kevin.
You sigh, closing your eyes as you let the water run over your face. Despite the fact that the two of you decided to call it quits, you still have love for him. Kevin is the complete opposite of Mark: he treated you with such care, giving you an autonomy you had not previously experienced in a relationship. There was a warmth to Kevin that was unfamiliar in the best way, and had never seen reflected in your parents’ marriage. It was Sunday mornings spent over cups of coffees and pastries from a bakery down the road from Kevin’s house in Denmark, going for long walks in the biting cold; he’d always want you to do things together. In the beginning you enjoyed it, but it soon came to feel stifling in a way. You can feel yourself frowning as you think back to those early days. Why did it feel that way? Kevin wasn’t a clingy person at all –if anything he had been so understanding every time you said you needed some time alone until your relationship had been stripped down to nothing more than text messages and hook ups in hotel rooms. At the time you figured it was just down to the both of you living in different countries, but maybe your fear of letting a man become all consuming made you put up a wall so high, nothing could touch you. You single handedly destroyed that relationship.
That truth sits uncomfortably in the hollow of your chest as you turn off the shower and reach for a towel. A part of you misses those Sunday mornings, misses being made to slow down. If you close your eyes you can still smell the scent of cinnamon mixed with something more earthy, the taste of Danish coffee on your tongue whenever Kevin kisses you. The memory makes you smile, even though the nostalgia tugs on your heart.
Do I even have a Danish bakery near me? you ask yourself as you get dressed, the memories making you crave the cinnamon buns Kevin would get. When you sit down at your desk with a mug of tea, you remember that Kevin used to live in the UK, back when he drove for McLaren.
“Worth a shot,” you mumble as you pick up your phone to message him.
Your teeth drag over your bottom lip while you consider his invitation. It would be nice to get out of the city for a few days and relax before the hectic schedule of a race week takes up all of your time. A quick look online tells you that there’s still a ticket available for tomorrow morning for a flight from Birmingham to Copenhagen. Without giving it a second thought you book the flight and send Kevin a message agreeing to his plan.
As promised, Kevin is waiting for you at arrivals.
“Hey,” he says quietly as he hugs you. You relax into his arms, sighing deeply. He lets go of you and takes your suitcase in one hand while the other is stretched out for you to take. You give his hand a squeeze and allow him to navigate the two of you to his car.
“How was the flight?” Kevin asks as he puts your bags in the boot.
“It was good, managed to finish the last bits for work so I won’t have to open my laptop until Monday.” You keep your eyes on Kevin as he closes the boot and notice the grateful smile he gives you.
“Do you want to drop your things off first? I don’t know if you booked a hotel or not, but if you feel comfortable, I have the spareroom set up,” he says as he climbs behind the wheel of the SUV.
“I did, but I’ll gladly take you up on your offer. And if it’s not too much trouble, I would feel better knowing my laptop is safe. I know it sounds silly, but with the amount of data and information on it, I can’t risk getting it stolen.” Kevin nods and while you cancel your hotel room, he drives to his house so you can put your bags inside.
The drive to the harbour doesn’t take long at all after that. There’s a box from a local bakery on the backseat and the thermos flask you gifted him for Christmas last year is peeking out from the side of his backpack. It does something funny to your heart, seeing him use something you had picked out for him, even after everything that had happened this summer.
“It’s gonna be chilly out on the water so I brought an extra jumper. You used to steal it all the time, so I figured it’d be a safe bet,” Kevin says, looking at you with half mirth and half tenderness.
“Thanks,” you murmur, that funny feeling only intensifying at him remembering how much you loved to wear that olive green, quarter zip jumper whenever the two of you did any outdoor activities during this time of year. Kevin parks the car and you help him carry the bags into the cabin on his boat. It’s not long before muscle memory kicks in and you’re helping him with checking the lines. The two of you easily fall into the rhythm of checking everything is in order, moving in synchronicity, and before you know it, you’re leaving the harbour behind you. Sitting cross legged on the deck, you tilt your face up to the sun, letting the wind play with your hair. You’ve always found peace out on the water, and this time was no different. Inhaling deeply, you feel yourself relax, your running to-do list finally being pushed to the backburner –at least for the time being. You feel the boat beginning to slow down as Kevin adjusts the sails and kills the engine. Looking over your shoulder, you can just make out the Danish coast line. This is how the two of you would spend most of his summer break: just floating around in the Øresund with a picnic basket filled with pastries and sandwiches.
“Here,” Kevin says, holding out two mugs of coffee, motioning with his head to take one. You gratefully accept it, taking a careful sip. Kevin sits down next to you, leaning his body against the railing and sets down the box of baked goods as well. You lift the lid up and pick one of the cinnamon buns. They’re still a little bit warm and the scent makes your mouth water. You can feel Kevin’s eyes on you as you take a bite, letting the taste of cinnamon, cardamom and sugar transport you back to simpler times.
“Oh, how I’ve missed these,” you mumble around a mouthful before swallowing. Kevin smiles at that, but there’s a wistfulness to his expression. You can tell that there’s an ache in him, and you’re responsible for that.
“I’ve missed this, missed us,” Kevin says quietly. His admission sits heavy in the hollow of your chest. Placing the cinnamon bun on your knee, you turn to look at him.
“I know,” you reply quietly, “and I realised that I have been unfair to you –that I hurt you for no other reason than that I was scared.” Kevin remains quiet, giving you the opportunity to say what you should have told him months if not years ago.
“You know how Mark and I ended, and I thought I had gotten over him but the reality is that it made me terrified to let someone get so close to me ever again, to let a person take over my life like that. And so I kept you at an arm’s length. Shut you out. I’ve begun to realise that I need to work on that; I want to work on that. Because I know what a healthy relationship can look like –you’ve shown me that Kev, and instead of appreciating you for it, I hurt you. I hurt you by not talking honestly about my fears, by falling pregnant with a 66,66% chance that you’re not the father and I don’t know if I can watch you get your heart broken by me again,” you say, tears now rolling down your cheeks, “How you still want me is beyond me,” you add quietly, looking down at your mug of coffee. You feel Kevin’s hand on your knee, making you look up at him.
“Thank you,” he murmurs, “this is the openness I need in a relationship. I am sorry that I didn’t ask you about what made you pull away, that I questioned your loyalties. I know how much you love your job and I shouldn’t have made you choose between your Mercedes family and me. I should’ve come up with a compromise so we can still hang out even if work keeps you busy. Because truth be told, I just want to spend time with you, doing whatever, as long as we can be in the same room. And I know there’s a good chance I am not the baby’s father, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be the baby’s dad. A family isn’t determined by biology, a family is made. And when I picture my future family, I picture us –whatever that us might look like, but us. So I will keep holding out hope that you feel the same way about me as I do about you until you tell me otherwise; I will keep loving you, and maybe that makes me an idiot, but I don’t care because I’d rather get my heart broken a thousand times over by you than not have you at all.”
“Thank you,” you whisper, not knowing how else to respond to him. Part of you feels overwhelmed by just how willing all three of them are to simply love you, without any hesitation and a part of you desperately wants to allow yourself to love them in return. But how can you in good conscience do so if that means hurting two of them in the process?
Oh Kev, this poor, poor cinnamon roll of a man 🥺 girly pop has a choice to make, but who will she choose? (Who would you choose? 👀)

"Do you want to build a snowman?" ~ Ju Haknyeon
It was a snowy day and you were very happy. You loved the snow and watching it fall slowly. It was something you loved from a young age. You were curled up with a blanket, a mug of hot chocolate and a random movie playing as you watched the snow fall gently. It was calming and quiet, until your phone rang. You glanced at the caller ID and saw it was your best friend, basically brother, Haknyeon. You smiled and accepted the call.
"Do you want to build a snowman~" He sang down the phone, making you giggle.
"Yes!" You exclaimed.
"Yay! Want to come over to the dorms? I can come pick you up." He suggested.
"Sure! Sounds good!" You replied happily.
"Cool, see you in ten." He said before hanging up the call.
You smiled and threw the blanket off your body and quickly got changed into some warm and comfy clothes. You slipped on a sweatshirt (that belongs to Hak), some black leggings and a pair of boots. You also put on a thick coat, scarf and gloves, just before you heard honking outside.
You left your home and saw Haknyeon pulled up outside in his car. You went over quickly slipping into the passenger seat of the warm vehicle.
"Let's build a snowman!" He exclaimed.
You smiled as he drove towards the dorms, as it was only ten minutes, you soon arrived and went to the back to see some of the others messing around in the snow. They all greeted you cheerfully before you and Haknyeon started on your snowman.
As you both talked and rolled the snow up to build a large snowman, the other members gathered inside to watch you both through the kitchen window.
"They look so happy." Juyeon mentioned.
"Of course, Hak's got his girly friend." Changmin teased.
"When will he tell her that he likes her?" Jacob questioned.
"Never, he's too worried about breaking the friendship." Kevin answered.
"But she likes him too, so what's the harm?" Sunwoo called.
"He doesn't know she likes him and she doesn't know he likes her, basic drama love story." Eric said.
They just laughed and watched you both. Haknyeon had made the body for the snowman, as you had finished the head. Both of you rolled it over and placed it on top, happy with the figure and just needed to add some stones and twigs for characteristics.
After another ten minutes, your snowman was finished. You both smiled happily at the large figure that sat proudly in the middle of the garden.
"It looks good." You said, as Haknyeon nodded in agreement.
It then started to lightly snow again, flakes hit your nose gently, the cold chill was bitter sweet. You looked up at Haknyeon, who was standing right next to you, smiling down at you.
"What?" You called.
"Your....just really pretty." He mumbled, your cheeks heating up at the complement.
"Your not too bad yourself." Your replied with a giggle, the male smiling at your words.
"Can....Can I kiss you?" He asked quielty.
You felt your heart jumping and nodded quickly. Haknyeon smiled and pulled you in gently, his lips on yours. The kiss was gentle, soft and sweet. It made you all warm and fuzzy inside, perfect on such a cold day.
The other guys watched, cheering quietly, happy for you both to have finally gone for it.
When you pulled away, your cheeks were a rosy red colour and so were Hak's. You both giggled and looked down, your hands intertwined together.
"Want to go inside and get a warm drink?" He asked.
"Yeah." You answered with a nod.
You both headed inside, to the kitchen, the others all looking occupied as if they hadn't just watched you both share your first kiss together. Not until Hyunjae spoke.
"So...you both dating now?" He asked.
"Dude!" Younghoon exclaimed.
"Oh, wasn't I supposed to say something?" He replied, making you all laugh.
You smiled and would have never thought that building a snowman would lead to you kissing your best friend and long time crush, but you were very happy about it.

Someone posted a whole video of his album party: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nzlhDV0PaR8&source_ve_path=MTc4NDI0
There was no way I was listening to his screeching, but I skimmed through the talking parts. It gets worse the more you hear. Also he’s already changing his story/lying about some of the songs again
1) Apparently now he’s into Japanese culture. The theme for the album is the various stages in relationships, but also kintsugi pottery. Breaking something apart (read himself) and building it back into something more precious. He got the Narnia makeup artist to turn him into kintsugi for the album cover for the title song Where the Light Gets In.
2) He’s now changed the story (lied) about Nevermind from being about heartbreak, to now claiming he wrote it with (Kevin???) during the pandemic about anxiety.
3) Stolen Time is where it gets interesting, cause he insinuated he was involved with someone when S&B season 2 started filming. The song is about time and distance and the world (pandemic) keeping people apart, but about two people in different time zones trying to connect to each other. He said he was miserable and “missing someone”, but also said Calahan wrote part of the song. Calahan was actually going through a break up at the time, so how much of the song is about him??? And Benny was just a pining loser. Also, wasn’t that winter when Jules was dating that Charlie guy.
4) He also pathetically shouted out the Save the Crows Netflix petition. Also there is a sex song. Eww
5) The Three New Hearts song about getting his heart broken three times (Jules?) is his favorite
6)Someone said he had a song about telling someone he wouldn’t wait for them Someday, but it’s apparently it’s about bastardizing Dylan Thomas’s poetry. Which is somehow worse. He brought up the English degree though, because he will never let people forget
FIRST OF ALL! thank ye for your sacrifice muffin, here's a potato for ye 🥔🥔🥔
And here's the link
youtube
1) Kintsugi? Where the Light Gets In (Let the Light In much lol)? Me thinks someone got himself Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd on vinyl xd
2) So the shitty lyrics were actually group attempt? Even worse lol
3) WHAT YE MEAN SOMEONE IN DIFFERENT TIME ZONE WHEN HE WAS IN HUNGARY? But the twitter girlies told me he was sharing same hotel room with Jessie? Valentines day hotel backpack 2 years anniversary soon x.x ANYWAY if I remember well, twin flame and the spiritual healing tongue guy were together like late 2021 like a few weeks after the EP premiere when he was in Canada?? and then he was in Hungary from January till like almost summer? And I remember something about gym bros and some trips they took cuz Calahan was big sad yesssss
4) Can't figure out why ye put these two in one lol maybe cuz he a paid whore? And now he thinks he can do like sweet gentleman lil puppy's version of AC/DC's The Jack?
5) Only three times? I would say we can count more bulianne break ups buuuuuuuut maybe it's because of the three big pap outings? the pandemic stroll with hubby away, the Montana/ice cream date, and then the NY birthday week?
6) Have nothing of substance to say actually lol he should have go for William McGonagall for shits and giggles
#thanks again muffin#will share with the whole class#ben barnes#the worst benny boy updates blog listening shindig news update

You've totally made my day 😂❤️
I got into watching wrestling when I was in school it was Shawn Michaels that first got me (just thought he was so talented and cool and stupid funny). The more I watched I started liking DX and most of the old school wrestlers (it was different back the 😆) Then I had a massive break for years and only got back into it last year. I was pretty sick so wasn't able to do much and wrestling was on and that's when I saw Sami and then Kevin. They got me back into it. Just loved them individually but their friendship and chemistry was just a pleasure to witness. I had no idea about the whole bloodline "history" till a video popped up on Facebook. That's when I went back and watched the whole thing and I was just blown away!! Honestly the bloodline was going stale till Sami breathed life back into it.
Right now Sami and Kevin are top tier ✨
Other current favourites to watch would be Jimmy, R-Truth, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, DIY, Bayley, Naomi, Raquel, The Usos (tag team), Wolf dogs
Other ones I am partial to watching are AJ Styles, New Day, Jey, Tozawa, Bobby Lashley, Dom Mysterio, McIntyre, Waller & Theory (are starting to grow on me), Ripley, Zelina, Stark, Orton, Roman (I'm on the fence about him), Michin, Ivy Nile
These are the ones I can remember right now, might've missed a couple
Anywayy that answer was wayyy too long 😂😆😅
Who are your "the ones to watch"??
🐨
oh i LOVE that!! i can't remember how i got into it honestly, it was more my mum & dad watched it all the time, & me and my brother just fell in love with it😂 (my mum was/is a big shawn michaels girlie, so i always had a little place in my heart for him!) john cena & jeff hardy were my faves growing up tho!! (& 14 year old me fell in love with cody rhodes when he debuted & that's never changed🤭) i also fell off it tbh, i began to spend more time out of the house & with friends, but id always watch the ples! one time, i was in my bedroom with my now fiancé (boyfriend at the time) & i went to talk to my brother who was downstairs watching a royal rumble, & my partner came downstairs like 2 hours later like "i knew you'd got sucked into this"😂😂 i got back into it properly in 2022, i'd been following thru clips etc (bc id seen cody had come back, but was out injured) & then i saw jey uso and was like OH MY GOD IM IN LOVE and i started watching the weekly shows again😭
oooh some good choices there, i approve!!🤭😂 my faves are; jey, cody, sami (i call them my trifecta!) i love kevin so much, seth is my guy, (they could never make me hate him!!) bayley is my baby, becky is the loml they could also never make me hate her!! rhea, tiffany!! i also love me some randy too, he's another one that i loved growing up!! i too love the wolf dogs, especially bron😍 (and i love trick williams, axiom & tony d from nxt!!)
grayson & theory have grown on me so bad since becoming a tag team (i didn't like theory at all beforehand), i love jimmy (hes my bff🤭) and solo but as a jey girlie through and through we're not on speaking terms right now😂😂 and im a finn girl too im just very underwhelmed right now!!😂
pls don't worry about long replies!! i love talking, especially about wwe!!🥰

PART 1, MASTERLIST
"Please, stop." He says dolefully rubbing his eyebrows to get rid of the ache pounding in his head.
He's miserable. It hurts to not have her with him. It's been two tragic months of going through constant sleepless nights, disrestless stomach, intoxicating himself to forget her, staring at things like a hawk and missing her terribly.
He was alone before her and never felt this lonely.
He sees her everywhere. In his dreams and her shadows in his drawing room getting excited over a ceramic vase someone gifted him. Dancing in his kitchen to the beat of pink floyd and hip-checking him for a cheerful nudge, in his back garden rescuing a sparrow who broke it's neck and in his attic stressing over her assignments.
Everything reminds him of her. The fruity drinks that the barista's handing to the people, the fairy lights upon their heads and how she used to fond over them —- buying it for his bedroom too and when he refused to hang them, she just brushed off his snarky comment and did it herself.
The ring in Harris finger floods back all the bitter-sweet memories of the time he refused to have a lil fun with her, (Y/N and Harris made friendship rings and bracelets for eachother with the colorful beads to spend their boring time in his home waiting for him to write some lines before they went to a gumball shop) as they try to knock some senses in their friend's brain, "You tried to dodge a heartbreak and still ended up shattering your heart, yourself." They worry about him. That he's been bearing the pain all alone and not sharing it with anyone.
His voice croak-y and hoarse, "How's she?" The question haunts him. She blocked his phone number and even in the wee hours of night he wrecks his mind whether he should call her or not, he couldn't because she doesn't want to hear his voice.
He misses her voice. He misses her complaints and whines as if they filled the stoic parts of his life with happiness.
"How'd I know?" Harris lowers down to rest their elbows on the table, "I -- I thought . . she isn't in contact with ye'?" When Harris shakes their head with a gesture that he's being truthful it sinks his heart furthermore.
He clears his throat, twisting the jewels on his hand and sucks his bottom lip to muster some courage, "I've been seeing someone." Harris chokes on the boba they were chewing on for so long, "You what?" They are completely perturbed at his statement. Even though they've been working together and been friends before Y/N came in the picture, she's still their bezzy and we don't betray our bezzies like that.
"Yeah, someone to help me sort me feelings out." Harry frowns confusedly and then realization washes upon him so he becomes frantic in his chair, "No . . not what you're thinkin'." He runs his fingers through his hair to subside the twitch in them.
"A therapist, 'm talkin' bout a therapist . ." He sighs watching his tea waft down sympathetically.
"Oh. That's a good start, Harry!" Harris tries to bring the same dimply boyish smile that used to flutter over his lips whenever she used to tease him, unfortunately it never appears.
//
Y/N didn't handle her first ever heartbreak well. She lost her appetite, her focus on her studies and to her surprise didn't shed a single tear –-- it just kept piling in her chest and she waited for the moment it'd burst until she saw those pictures plastered all over social media. Pictures of him with some model that isn't a shorty pants like her at all, totally how those ladies described his type to be and someone with whom he wouldn't be embarrassed to hang out with.
She's everything, Y/N's jealous of. Those sparkling blue eyes compared to her boring brown ones, handsome figure and the radiance of richness.
Then she got stuck into her life responsibilities and worried about other things such that; she wasn't able to pay any bills and her flat's rent despite doing two part time jobs along with doing her class-fellows assignments in return of money and still got kicked out of it. Her close friend offered her to live in her studio and she has made it her kitchen, study, sleeping room with her stuff and clothes scattered everywhere.
She lives on noodles and toasted breads sometimes treating herself with delights of kit-kat bars in the middle of nights.
Watches her friend do her work and leave when the night comes by —- she has never felt this lonely in her entire life.
"So, was it love at first sight?" Nora her friend asks, handing her cuppa tea and a scone. Y/N let a weak sad smile slip, shaking her head and reminiscing all those moments where she was falling in love with him without even realizing, "Falling in love slowly patiently is the most beautiful . . . at some time I used to loathe his existence but staying with him and after knowing him, it was like --— an escapeless tunnel. I didn't realize it, till one day I woke up and my heart saw him in a different light, where I wanted to give him all me lovin' but he wasn't ready for it." She shrugs sipping the hot beverage and doesn't flinch from the burn that tingles at the tip of her tongue.
When she put her cup aside Nora takes her hand assuring her sweetly, "You'll have that person soon -- he's just on his way, with a big bouquet of roses and a teddy bear to give you the lovin' you deserve." Y/N giggles at that waving her off and not showing how her person is still Harry. What does she do to forget him? To fool her in thinking he isn't her first love.
"Aish, Nora aren't you gettin' late? Gooo." She had some clients to meet before she stopped here at studio to grab some things but it turned into a girlie hangout, "Take care honey and don't forget to put a bucket there." She points to the corner where water's dripping from the rooftop and Y/N exhaled an exasperated sigh of breath when the door clicks leaving her alone yet again.
//
It was past twelve and when usually she pulls an all nighter to study -- today she decided to sleep early. Her bad habit of overthinking kicks in again, this time it's not over some silly thing but she ponders over where she went wrong? She should've kept her feelings to herself and atleast would have been sleeping in her bed cuddled with her chonky cat Zippy.
She misses Zippy badly.
A noise of door unlocking loudly drags her from her reverie and her heart pounds against her ribcage ready to break it. Who could be at this hour of night? It could be Nora since she's the only one who got keys to the place.
Sitting up quickly she squints against the blinding lights and watches someone's boot stepping over her blanket that flopped onto the floor from the sofa she's sleeping on.
"Kevin? What are you doing here?" He's Nora's boyfriend and her classfellow. He just shrugs tumbling his way towards the sofa and she tries to scoot back from him as much as possible, "I'm here to see you. . ." He slurs. It knocks her breath out, filling terror in her veins as the heels of her feet rub against the leather of the couch in her effort to be away from him.
"What? This's not appropriate I -- I . . suggest you to call Nora s –- so, what're you doin —-" She squeaks in fear sinking into the couch when he towers over her and traps her under him with his hands on either side of her body aggressively, "I like you. Why don't you get it!!" She flinches when he shouts angrily with bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol disgusts her springing tears in her eyes.
"Please, stop . . ." She whispers with silent tears running down her throat using all her strength to push at his shoulders but he grips her hips tightly and yanks at her sleeping shirt revealing the strap of her bralette. She couldn't even cry for help. It's useless so putting some belief in herself for the last time she uses all her power and kicks him in his crotch pushing him roughly on the floor.
His nails tear at her delicate skin but she doesn't care before running out of the studio ignoring the names he's calling her from behind.
She runs away, away and away. Not thinking twice where she's going before crossing the bridges and tunnels. It feels like her ears are bleeding with the echo of loud horns of traffic and the hopelessness of her life makes her fall on her knees. She cries all the tears she was bottling up for months feeling like she's running out of time and reaching dangerously near to her end.
She's been in the same neighbourhood she's been before many times. The chilly wind doesn't prick goosebumps over her skin, the night's darkness doesn't scare her and the stray dog that's barking somewhere in far doesn't affect her at all as she stares at the door from where she has stepped into her comfort space many times.
Harry's with Scottie. His childhood friend who's here in London for some shoot. They were lounged in the living room talking their hearts out and their cringey memories from when they were small when he halted mid-talk, jaw slacking when his eyes took the sight of someone standing at his main door from the multiple security screens appearing on the telly.
He doesn't believe at first. Thinking he's hallucinating and that maybe he just saw a flicker of a ghost but when she looks up revealing her sad face and those big brown eyes he rushes to open the door.
"Fuck." He breathes out working on the heavy cold locks of the oak door with shaky hands anxiously and she was about to walk away with her back turned to him when he spurts out her name in haste, "Y/N." She listens to him. Insides breaking with the nirvana and scent of him surrounding her.
His breath hitches in his throat when she spins to meet his apprehensive gaze and she doesn't give him a chance to have a proper look at her before falling in his arms, her head hitting his chest and body shaking vigorously as she sobs sadly.
"Darlin'?" He asks worriedly, slipping his arms around her shoulders to lull her in his embrace, "Are you oka?" He feels like his stomach ate his heart as he anticipates an explanation from her and she isn't doing anything but crying.
"You're scarin' me, pet. What happened honey?" He pulls away to cradle her face in his calloused palms. His chests pangs with hurt and remorse upon seeing her tear stained cheeks, wobbly blue lips, and disheveled state.
He steps inside with her still in his arms and rubs his hand down her spine to calm her down as little sad sniffles and hiccups keep slipping out of her mouth.
He sits her on the sofa squatting down infront of her and Scottie brings her water. When she refuses to drink it because Harry strokes his thumb against the apple of her cheek, "Shh, 's okay . . you're okay. You're with me now, sweet girl." It's like the world and anything else has blurred around him and his ever priority's focusing on her only. His observant gaze dawdles from her face to her bruised shoulder emitting an afflicted gasp of trepidity from between his lips and it deepens to a growl when it fell over her hip-bone where the fabric of her pyjama's spotted with blood.
He glances up at Scottie who gives him a knowing look of horror. He gets closer to her and she doesn't retract as his thumb streaks away the blood oozing from her shoulder gently, saying nothing as he examines it.
After a brief pause Y/N's heart skips a nervous beat when he tilts her chin to have a better look at her face, taking in the evidence of someone handling his petal so brutally it left scratches at her face.
Harry looks her dead in the eyes. His anger barely restrained tippling from the pot ready to leave burns, his voice is tense and quite, ears heating with wrath.
"Who did this to you?"
"Kevin." The tears are back at her waterline more concerned that he's panicking because of her and Scottie sits beside her massaging her shoulders.
"Kevin, who?" Harry's question is curt controlling himself from finding this mother fucker himself and beat the shit out of him, "H -- he's my friend's boyfriend, I though --– was sleeping in her studio 'n 'n --- when he . . . he —-- " She hides her face in her palms unable to speak but Harry quickly pulls her down in a comforting hug whispering sweet things to stop her crying.
She parts from him with puffy eyes and swollen lips shaking her head at her stupidity, "I … I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come here, 'm gonna leave — ' " She's a weeping blubbering mess trying to stand up on her jello legs with the help of the couch's armrest.
He catches her wrist crying out, "No! Don't! please, please stay . . . . fo' me?" Scottie has never seen him like this. Bended out of shape for a person, begging them on his knees to protect them as he rambles loudly.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden on you, I -- I'll go in the morning." Since she has nowhere to go it's better she sleeps here for a night instead of on the streets.
Harry finds it ironic. That once he didn't want her overnights now he wants her all days and weeks, perhaps till the end of his life.
He's gonna win her back.
He hands her his tattered comfy sleeping clothes and the spare toothbrush leaving her to it. When he comes back downstairs Scottie's waiting for him at the main door.
"You should report a file against that bastard the first thing in the morning." Scottie tells him seriously and he nods. His head snaps when she spoke softly, smiling at him, "You're in love."
"What?"
"I haven't seen you like that with anyone, Harry. Make it to her foolish boi -- tell her what you feel." She laughs, jolting him with his shoulders and he smiles timidly bidding her a good-bye.
The door to her room's ajar opened as he peeks inside to make sure she's okay and sighs deeply when finds her staring blankly at the ceiling. The floorboard creaks when he pads inside quietly and her stare diverts to him while he stands on the foot of bed, "I read somewhere that cuddlin' helps ye'sleep better, you w'na try?" She hums in return, fisting the duvet under her chin and slip shuts her eyes remaining stiff in her spot when he slides under the duvet closer to her.
She turns into a puddle when his long arms wrap around her tummy, "Is this okay?" His voice a mere whisper of care earning an honest nod from her -- his thigh strings over her legs to cocoon her in his warmth completely, ". . and this?" She again nod at him so,
He smushes his cheek into the crook of her neck and she could feel something moist on her skin while his lips puckered to speak, "Y/N?" He murmures broken and sad snuggling more into her.
"Hmm?" She hums, the exhaustion from walking and crying this much forcing her to sleep, "I've missed you, terribly." Her heart leaps and she wants to exchange the familiarity of emotions but her tongue remains heavy in her mouth.
//
Her toes curls and fingers clutches the wrinkly fabric of the pillow case she had her head rested on but now it's slipping down from over it due to her body shaking vigorously as she tries to escape those filthy, gruesome hands like a terrifying shadows of evil choking her throat and sucking the life out of her.
Harry's head snaps down to where she was snuggled to his side moments ago when she murmur-yells no,no,no,no'. He feels like someone placed a heavy brick over his chest at the sight of his lovie writhing like a leaf petrified of whatever she's dreaming of and his shoulders rolls back while he perches on his elbow to shake her gently out of it.
"Y/N . . ." He remains dulcet. Chewing onto his already swollen bottom lip since he didn't even close his eyes the entire night manipulating the plush flesh, he doesn't know what kept him awake —- but it sure was this sense of responsibility to make her feel protected under his wings. She smacks his arm away pushing at his chest with her all might to skid away to the edge of the bed in her sleepy state, so he quickly hunches on wobbly knees to catch her before she falls.
"It's just me, Angel, Harry –- wake up darlin'," His heart beating ominously frantic and head jumbling with horrible thoughts of what she's going through as her warmed up cheeks soak with tears, he has never seen her like this, he never wanted to see her for the first time after months like this --- shattered to pieces and drained of her energy.
He smooths his thumb to caress her cheek slightly and swipe those sad tears away. She wakes up with a gasp making him jerk his chin back, blinking rapidly to confirm her surroundings and her fearful vision zeros to his panicked features. She places her palms against his pectorals to make sure he's real and there and that ugly nightmare just ended, "Harry?" He gulps the thick web of tears down his throat and bobs his head.
"Yes, sweet girl, Harry . . ." The very streaks of golden rays sneak through the curtains and dances between their faces as she fists the hem of his shirt, "It was just a nightmare." He assures her running his hand up and down her arms to calm her down.
"Don't be afraid, dovie' won't let anybody hurt ya from now on, g'na protect you —--" It was the last straw for her before she flipped him over and climbed out of his bed to get out from his room.
"Shit." He drives into a state of frenzy following her down the stairs like a puppy almost missing a step or two as she wears the slippers she came in last night, "Where ye' goin'?" His muscles twitch in a hurry to make his next move and save whatever's between them that's keeping him sane, " Dunno, away from you." She shrugs, lost in her own fog and the sting in his heart's unbearable with the inflammation of hurt.
"Why?" He tumbles through the last step and infront of her, eyes bloodshot and heart how from the squeezing agony of loosing her for second time for the same cause.
"Because, I w'na forget about you!!" The scream she had in her lungs to convey her anger gets stuck in her throat. His shoulders slump from the burden of guilt and regret.
"Why?" He feels like throwing up with the unbearable anguish of him hurting to a point he wants to wash his memories out of her mind.
"Because you make me so confused, Harry…" Her face pinches into an exasperated expression of hopelessness while she nudges him aside to pass by him and to the main door but he catches her wrist before she could step outside and never come back to him, "I wouldn't confuse you from now on …. 've been better fo' you y/n, 'cos I want you to know that I'm yours." His confession springes her off guard by pure stupefaction and when she looks at him -- he's already gazing at her as if she's the moon surrounded by singing stars.
"Please, let me fight for you baby." Tears springs at his waterline ready to welcome a sob out of his lungs. Because he knows he'll be unable to live his life without her, his love will rot in the cage of his heart because he'd never be able to express it for anyone except her.
He continues not holding back anything from her instead unlocking another love language and that's being vulnerable and completely defenceless to her, "While being with you I still thought a part of me was in love with my ex and I didn't want ya to be me second priority, could neve', was so so wrong 'cos even though you're not my firsts you're gonna be my lasts. I'll make sure that you're." He gulps down the tears blocking his wind pipes and making it difficult to speak.
"I want you to give us another chance, to forgive me and give me a proper chance to love you 'cos that's what you deserve . .." The sincerity and genuineness in his stained smaragdine irises turns her pudgy in his hold, ". . . you deserve all the lovin' in this world, honey."
"Work for it then." She tells him and his pretty eyes widen adorably as of some golden fish, a vivacious smile adorns his features and he doesn't take a moment before swiping her off her feet and into his arms to hug her tightly.
His insides feels like nourishing after a time with contentment and satisfaction.
To have his loved one in his arms.
In his life.
"Thank you, Thank you, Thank youuu." He rambles into the crook of her neck, elated and joyful. Swaying their bodies together and making her smile softly after a prolonged time of suffering.
She'll heal.
He'll make sure to put ointment of affection and love on her wounds to help her heal, for herself but nobody else.
//
"You've got to be kidding me!" She mutters putting the alcohol swab on his torn bleeding knuckles and he squeaks locking his calf around her ankle, "Ouch! Ye' mad woman."
Harry and her went to file a report against Kevin, along with Nora who became her witness because she despises that disgusting of a man to be even around her and her studio let alone her boyfriend.
Harry was her biggest support through the whole process and dropped her off assuring her he'll pick all her stuff from Nora's place. There he was, Kevin. Stumbling at the footpath after Nora kicked him and his luggage out.
Harry's very patient and optimistic but not when his loved ones get hurt. He didn't know what was happening around him before he sprinted towards Kevin and punched him square in his face, breaking his nose and busting his own knuckles with a fierce shout of "y'son of a bastard!"
"If I ever . . . ever see ya near her, I promise that you wouldn't be able to see the living daylight." He grunted, resisting to hit him in the shin with his boots and walked past him to the studio to collect her stuff.
He was grief stricken seeing the way she had to live and not finding her pet cat anywhere. His heart could be heard cracking into tinytinytiny pieces when Nora told him that Y/N gave it to the vet since she was unable to afford it.
When she catches him staring up at her like a love-stricken puppy she huffs wrapping a band-aid around his knuckles, "'M mad at you." He seems unfazed making her gasp when brings her closer with his legs wrapped around her's, "Why . . . you're always mad at me." He whines jutting out his bottom lip and she shakes her head at his silly dotiness.
"You -– you can't go hurtin' yourself fo' me, H." She's very unaware, because certainly he'd do it as many times.
She narrows down her eyes to squint him in offense when he brushes her comment off with nonchalance and raises his bandaged wrist up to her face, "Will you kiss it better' fo' me, pet?" Her insides crumbles like dry rose petals falling from a beloved book of her favourite romances.
"Hmm?" He nudges it in a questioning suppressing a smirk. She wipes her clammy and antiseptic hands down her trousers not meeting his gaze while taking his hand awkwardly but delicately closer to where her soft mouth is located; she halts glowering at him, "Only if you ask nicely."
"That wasn't nice? Thought I was being a good boy there." He mumbles diligently pulling at the hem of her shirt and she bites down a smile, fingers still wrapped round his wrist.
"Pretty please…?" He wheezes his words out begging-ly -- upper lip curving, pupils dilating and she shrugs, "..if you insist so.." His grin was immaculate that of golden sun when she pressed her lips to his knuckles carefully giving it a gentle pat afterward.
"Not doing that again." She breathes out the air she was winding up inside her for so long. Spinning on her heels to turn her back towards him and put the first aid back under the sink, "We'll see 'bout that, let's do some grocery." He stands up patting his thighs loudly, "Wouldn't be surprised if we'll find bugs in me cabinet instead of goodies."
//
They've been roaming isles for an hour now and they always end up fighting who will push it. Harry doesn't let her because she keeps on filling it with instant noodles, chocolate bars and sakurai oreos.
"How about we try to live till our fifties wouldn't be that beautiful?" He follows behind her closely. His chest brushes against her shoulders everytime she makes a stop to cooes over some brightly coloured food and candies, "'M trying to make it till next year, dunno 'bout you." She mutters grumpy-ly tossing another packet of cherry lollipop inside the trolley.
He puts it back.
With a strict warning glare to her way.
"I want you to stay healthy." He says sternly glaring up at her from his ducked position. She tosses the lollipop back from the shelf, "'M paying for my things." She dismisses him off panning deadly.
"Fo' fucks sake, 's not 'bout money!" He grits annoyed at her stubbornness and she arches her brow leaning against the trolley, "Harry…'m not an actress or some high-paid model. Lemme enjoy real things, okay? Or just say you'd look too outta my league standing next to me." Her brows pints down into a frown and her shoulder slumps with her body further relaxing against the trolley.
She's up for a debate with him right in the middle of the junk food aisle if that's the case.
"See. That's why I don't want to be married!" A couple from far banters off in astonishment catching Y/N completely off guard.
"Uh-ah!" She yelps getting startled from the boom of interruption and a high-pitch squeaks leaves out of her petite lungs when the trolley rolls from under her perched elbow making her stumble for a nice trip but the bang never came as Harry coiled his arm around her waist to pull her on stable feet with a firm hand over her smallest of back.
His gentle pupils flicker between her frenzied one's, noses tickling and teasing each other with each spurt of breath that rushes out of her parted soft mouth and against his cheek.
"Maybe it's not that bad after all." The couple who were planning their future based on another couple, who's not even a couple yet but trying to work on it with their shared amount of affection; sighs in awement leaving Harry and Y/N in their own bubble.
He takes her by the elbow and helps her with his lips thinned, "Careful there." His mumble is deep and coherent husk.
She didn't whine about his green vegetables, boring low fat cheese and planned meals, celery or whatever that shit is, after that. Walking by his side like a kid who just got relief from his time out punishment.
While on the counter she asked him politely rather than biting his head of, "Lemme pay please. I'm already imposing on you by staying at your place." She knows that he wouldn't let her. Harry wants to take care of her -- in every way. He just hopes she warms up to him slowly that there will be a day she thinks of his home as hers too, oh how the table turns!
T'not make her think that his love for her is only restrictive to materialistic things he lets her pay --- but for half of it.
"D'ya got a change, miss?" The cashier asks her and she cranes her neck up to him. He denies waving his credit card with a disappointed expression so she quickly takes a chewing gum from the racks beside in return for the change.
He stops in his tracks. Watching her with glinting eyes more like fawning at her when she sways on her feet happily swinging the bag in her hold side by side.
"C'mon Harry!" She grins twiddling her fingers in a gesture to usher him where she's standing beside his car, "Yup. On your command, darlin'." He shakes his head. To fetch himself from the fond-land he always enters with anything she does.
//
There's a low hum of telly buzzing in the room as they sit crossed legs on the coffee rug with their knees brushing if any of them moves their bum a tad, while they slurp onto the remaining soup in the noodles cup.
This whole time he wanted to say something, to talk to her, his heart out and make it a domestic routine of sharing stuff while they eat comfy in eachother's presence but seems like his tongue betrays him everytime and his needy eyes always want to admire her and the little things she does.
He licks his lips, nodding profusely when she asks for his cup and chopsticks to take to the kitchen. A huge sigh of relief vanishes out from his chest when she disappears inside giving him time to re-collect himself, he rummages through the bag to take out the chewing gum they bought at the last moment.
He rips the packet with his teeth but it remains pressed there between his morals when he senses the familiarity of the foil --- she bought a fucking condom out of accident!
At the same moment she pads outside halting in her tracks infront of him with a horrendous expression as her peepers wouldn't stop blinking. He doesn't not know what got into him but he throws it her way as if he's utterly disgusted by it.
Sinks into the couch and refuses to meet her gaze. She throws it back at him, "I don't want it, keep it you might need it." There he goes. The smugness fuels back as he outstretches his arm over the back of the couch and man-spreads scrutinizing the way her eyes linger at his meaty thighs before flicking them away with a nervous gulp.
"You've already planned it all out, hun?" He smirks rubbing the belly of his nose with his pinky's knuckle and she folds her elbows under her breasts shaking her head at his teasing, "Yeah planning to . . . murder you t'night." She laughs out evilly when his eyes widen comically.
"Hmm. I see. Didn't know ye' were this kinky 'n naughty." She rolls her eyes at his edgy nip. She wouldn't admit it but him testing her patience turns her hot and flustered.
"Night, H." She yawns and his heart grows ten times bigger at the softness of her appearance. She cranes her head against her shoulder to look at him from the spot she's standing at when his voice calls for her, "Y/N!? Ye'really into knives? In the bed I mean." His grin mischievous knowing fully well what he's doing to her as he waits for her answer propped on his knees.
She slams the door at his face and he plops back into the sofa with a pouty victorious smile.
//
Harry didn't realise that in the middle of watching Gilmore Girls on the telly he fell asleep straining his neck from keeping it in a weird angle, his arms hugging the pillow and feet dangling adorably nowhere. He groans knuckling away the sleep and tries to wake up when he heard a feeble noise of someone taking his name until he looks up and finds Y/N towering him with her fluffy cream blanket pinched around her head darlingly.
"What happened, pet? Y'okay!?" He gasps trying to sit up and take her precious face to inspect her properly but she shakes her head and lays him back gently.
Her nose runny and cheeks rosied as she asks for a favour from him, "Can I -- um," She wipes her nose with the sleeve of her sweater paw. He doesn't question her further and opens his long arms to welcome her for a warm embrace.
"C'mere, pet." His whisper delicate to her.
She lies down pressed to his front resting her head on his sprawled arm and scooches herself closer to him smiling shyly against his hoodie where a Harry is embroidered in pink thread. It's like a gust of fresh spring and dew of nighty mountains as Harry takes a relaxing breather snuggling her impossibly affectionately close to himself, petting down her sweet smelling hair.
"Y'can talk to me 'bout anythin'." Their heart-beats in sync as he keeps his palm spread at her back to protect her from falling, "Ye' know that right?" He pulls back to cradle her chin between his fingers and look her in eyes sincerely.
"I know that button. Sleep for now, hmm?" He smiles softly, shutting his eyes from giving out how much a mere love name's enough to fuse him into a cloud of giddiness.
//
In the morning though, Harry's a small spoon and Y/N a big one. Her limbs trying to latch to his body in every way possible with her cheek smashed against his shoulder blade.
His lips quirks up into a lazy loopy smile full of contentment and peacefulness as he weaves his each finger into her's to bring her knuckles to his mouth and smother it in kisses, "Rise n' shine you furball." He rasps. chin doubling adorably as he tries to look at his squirmy girl.
He turns to face her side, temples touching and lips hovering over eachother's skin. He feels her smiling against his chin as she cuddles up into him, "I'd like to make you a brekkie…." She murmurs playing with baby curls on the nape of his neck.
"Dunno 'bout that. What if you poison me, t'death?" He giggles and she smacks his belly pouting grumpy-ly.
"Offer, expired. no more brekkie for you." She tells him wiggling out of his grip and walks towards kitchen but burst into gleeful laugh when he wraps around her calves like a koala bear, "Was jokinnnn', babe." He emphasizes his words with a twinge of whine and she meanders her hand in his ruffled curls.
"Kay! Kay! But, I could only make you omelette and sour bread." He jumps back on his feet enthusiastically looping his arm around her clavicles, "No problem. Glad t'eat anythin' made from your lovely hands."
She made him brekkie and he made fabulous peach tea for them. She blabbered off and he listened with careful ears. He praised her with glinting proud eyes and she treasured these praises in her heart.
While she chewed slowly he messaged his manager that he couldn't come to any working place for a week or so. He wants to make it special and memorable for them, their honeymoon phase.
"D'ya have any class today?" He asks her leaning towards her atop the counter, "Nope 's Saturday dummy." She chuckles flicking her thumb against his forehead and he gives a dimpled grin with bolted shut eyes.
"Yeah … silly me."
"Why?"
"So that I could take ye' ona date." His inners bouncing desperate to know her answer, "Me?" She points at herself surprised with parted lips.
"Yes you, is there somebody else sitting with us? Hello?" He calls for that non-existent person and she suckles her bottom lip to subside her squeals down. She breathes out, "Some ghostie? Evil spirit? Jesus himself —-" She cuts his banter of. With a light slap to the back of his hand.
"Okay." She says with an excited shake of head happiness bare in her words and Harry literally slips from his seat padding towards her in haste, "I'd love to." She confirms with a sweet smile and he hooks his nimble finger around her jeans loop to pull her closer to him for a fervid emotional hug.
//
She was a frolic mess in her room trying out her outfits and fitting into her skirts, trousers anything that could match perfectly. Deciding to terminate any ideas to wear cotton floral sun-dresses instead ends up tucking a baby pink sweater into her chequered white and black plaid trouser along with a pair of Mary Janes booties.
She took huge puffs of breath to calm her wild heart down when the knock on her door appeared. He decided to be a full on romantic today doing all the date rituals without any shame dressing up in a silk shirt three shades lighter than her's, with a pussy bow around his neck and she thinks she couldn't be more in love with him as he has a bunch of sunflowers and jasmines in the cracks of his jewels adorned fingers.
"Well, well, well, Look who came to their enemy's door holding presents." She smirks and he scowls, "Oh cut it. 'M here to pick y'up fo' our date."
What makes her lose her mind's Zippy on his shoulder.
"Oh my goodness! Harry!" She leaps towards him and takes her fluffy beast in her arms and showers Zippy's crown with many many kisses, "Thank you!" She cries out joyfully wrapping her free arm around his waist and cuddles him for dear life.
"I lo —-- " She thinks it'd be embarrassing to say it on the first date and Harry almost had a mini heart-attack but she changed her words, "I can't be more grateful to you, thank you so much."
"Now, stop thankin' me hunny." He gives her the flowers he plucked himself from his backyard and kisses the apple of her cheek turning her into a gooey mesh.
"Where is it?" She avoids checking him out.
"Why should I tell ya?" He nudges her to lock her elbow around his and she gazes up at him with loving eyes, "'cos 'm your date that's why."
"Bribe me then." He grins bashfully.
"Harry!!" She gasps and huffs tipy-toeing timidly to plant a soft kiss to his chin but it lands against his throat making him thin his lips to give out a noise that could embarrass both of them.
"Not telling you." He squeaks dragging her outside into the porch and she whines, "You leech!"
//
"You did not!" She snaps her neck in utter exhilaration from the view in front of her and towards Harry who's watching her with puffed cheeks to not to give out his bunny smile as her face turns guppy. The sunshine dawdles around them and she pulls him down to her level with the tug of their intertwined hands, "You're somethin' else, Styles." It warms his blood. Bursting sentiments of pure love and amiability through each orifice that leads to his heart.
"Only fo' you." He whispers stroking the plush of her cheek -- restraining to place his needy lips on her alluring pillow one's inviting him to have a good taste of their sweetness before they could taste the ripeness of strawberries growing at the farm he just took her.
"Uhm. Let's see who could collect more!" She grins pushing herself three steps away from him with support of his pecs, "What's the prize?" He asks pawing at her hips to keep her in intimate distance and she giggles tapping his chin.
"A feeling of saccharine-ss and sweetness when we'll eat those strawberries out." She tries not to step on heavy branches that are still growing and makes her way to the fresh patch, "Perhaps, that could be acquired from eatin' somethin' else out too." His wet lips brushes against her earlobe as he speaks, sending a shiver down her spine.
"You're being very loud and lewd." She pokes him in ribs. Squatting down to pluck a juicy perfectly sized strawberry and hovering it against his mouth to give him a taste, "Hmm what could I say 'm a man of dirty words." His eyes darken to an intoxicating shade of emerald as his heart-shaped magenta lips wrap around the strawberry to split it in two with his teeth.
He still remembers. How her mouth tasted that night, how her lips came molding around his's like a stamp of a lover's letter and her body fitted against his's like a lost piece of puzzle.
Just made for him.
"Harry …" She's out of words. Maybe, breath.
"Yes dovie?" He hooks his finger into her belt's loop to saturate the thread like distance between them and makes tight hold at the nape of her neck to crane her head up to meet his honey eyed gaze, "D'ya know how to make strawberry mochi?" His shoulder slumps at her question and he rests his cheek atop her temple cutely.
"Noo." His voice sort of whine-y.
"No, problem. We'll make it together." She chuckles turning back to collect the strawberries into her basket.
She never had this fun. Messing around with him. Feeding eachother the sweet fruit. Him scaring her that some rat sprinted by her feet and enjoying the way she jumps at him, only wheezing comically when she throws a blow at him.
Her giggles bounces off each and every ivory flower and leafy plant as he pins her to the viridescent grass, with his thighs and tickles her non-stop. What started as raspberries turns into sloppy smothers of kisses all over her face.
"Harry!!" She bursts into another fit of laughter, "Stop." She warns him squeezing her thighs around his waist and he giggles challenging her.
"O'what? Huhh?" She closes her eyes nuzzling into his arm that's trapping her down, "Or I'll kiss you…" Her voice gentle and dulcet making his grip loosen and heartbeat fastens like a thunderbolt.
"'M not afraid of that." He gives a toothy grin sneaking a glance at her hand which's gliding up his throat to cup his cheek, eyelids fluttering like petals from breeze as she smudges her sweet mesh coated lips against his's in a tenderly ardent, and yearningly amiable kiss feeling her pulse ring in her ears with so much force.
His fingers make their home down her smooth hair to cup the nape of her neck, elbows digging into mud when he lifts her up to deepen the kiss sloppily. Just her. Only her. Swirling inside of him as his very thought.
Their noses crooking perfectly, skins kissing and bodies hitched to eachother with the knot of souls.
She whimpers into his mouth squishing the poor strawberry she was holding in her free hand from the intensity of fierce sentiments she's spiraling in; to have him all and swallow him all because he's that damn gorgeous. His tongue pokes and tickles the plush insides of her small mouth tasting the strawberry straight from where he loves the most. His belly burning with the fire of desire feeling the way her body's reacting with puriency to his subtle touches of affection.
He was dying to have a kiss from her the day she gave him her lips that night and he couldn't resist but to think about it regularly.
A wet filthy sound bubbles around them when they part away with the remnants of spit in the form of intricate strings connecting them; that breaks when he relaxes his forehead against her's taking a good breather of mossy air.
"S' messy." He tuts when his eyes fall at her palm covered in strawberry pulp.
She gasps giddy-ly when he pokes his pink tongue out and takes a huge swipe up her palm with an erotic hum that rattled her insides.
"H -- arry." She nibbles at her bottom lip to filter noises she's unable to hold meanwhile he sucks her fingers one by one to clean them, her panties twisting with an ache of want.
"Hmm. All nice 'n clean, now we should go." He says flipping her wrist to act as if he's inspecting it. Brushes the dirt of his trousers leaving her baffled and grumpy. When she doesn't stand up he squats down at her level arching a brow at her and before she could know what's happening she's thrown over his broad shoulder like a rag doll.
Her squeals hearty and giggly as she tries to punch his back but her breath gets caught in her throat when his large hand comes spanking her butt-cheek. He waits for her reaction —- grinning cheekily when she sucks in her weak mewls and grabs the back of his neck blabbering his name off.
He puts her back on the ground once out on the gravel path and hands her the basket piled with strawberries. Ducks down to sponge a kiss to her cheek telling her to stay glued to her spot as he leaves to pay.
She smiles down at her feet then at the sky revinding all the moments and their lovely kiss that makes her feel all warm and stupidly gooey.
While boarding the train he wiggles his finger behind himself to get a hold on her and keep her close to him, craning his neck with a lopsided sly smile, "Hold me hand."
"If you insist." She nods with a grin slipping her fingers over his palm and he wovens them with his own with a firm grip stepping inside the train and helps her to do so with his free hand behind her head.
She sighs. Sitting with her back pressed against the window of the train. One leg folded and other dangling from the seat as she stares at Harry with a pouty smile.
"Don't ya think you're sittin' too far away from me?" He says, grabbing her knee, "Come here." And slides her towards himself now their thighs overlapping. He doesn't like even the mere distance between them —-- might sound sappy but he wants to be like her scent.
"Happy?" She pinches his cheek and he winces dramatically ruffling her already loose tresses of hair making her look as if she was on a roller coaster minutes ago, "aren't you a one clingy bunny!" She huffs trying to blow away the hair falling in her eyes. He bobs his head in agreement and slings his elbow around her shoulders to tuck her under his chin protectively.
//
"Okie, now add some sugar in it —- aish slow down …" She coughs waving away the sugar dust tickling her nostrils as Harry poured so much sugar all at once. He has his chin rested on her head and her hips crooned against his thighs as they make the strawberry and vanilla mochi together.
His puffer jacket on her shoulders (To the time they went to buy grocery stuff it started being cold and Harry being a mommy he took out his jacket and bundled her up in it) —- She sneezes and he quips pecking her hair, "Bless your heart." Fetches her a tissue too.
"Thank you, bubs." She giggles grabbing his jaw bringing him down to smooch a kiss to his lips. She pulls back but he persists snaking his palm around the nape of her neck to keep her put —- she gives in with her heart fluttering like candle flame in a destructive storm.
Turns in his embrace and hooks her elbows behind his head patching tiny, tiny, tiny pecks on his pillowy lips until he gets desperate to kiss her mouth and tongue pushing her to his front by gliding his hand into the back-pocket of her jeans.
Her head lulls. Feeling as if the kitchen got filled with candy clouds floating around her when he cradles her cheeks in his both palms lapping at her bottom lip and nips at it with every whimper of desire that falls, "Mine." He breathes out rubbing the bridge of his nose up and down her cheek like a puppy nuzzling into his favourite plushie.
"Yours." She says without any hesitation.
He smashes his wet lips back on hers. Swirls of gleeful colours surrounding them as he feels like he could kiss her forever.
She gasps gazing down lustfully at his wine cherried lips when he holds her from waist and sits her on the wooden counter, "I want you to take me." She murmurs nailing at the silk of his top and he paws at her hip-bones cravingly, it makes her feel like one the most desired women alive.
"I'm all yours to pleasure you lovie'," He looks her in the eyes with so much love and affection it melts her whole, "Just ask me and I'll give me girl what she wants …. " He says trailing sloppy kisses down her throat. Her head falls against the tiled wall giving him more access to her skin --- so he could mark her as he wishes.
The heat from his mouth to her bare skin arouses her to an extent she feels wetness sticking to the insides of her thighs with each grind of his crotch against her's.
She tugs at the roots of his curls, mouth parted around a moan when he grazes his touch over her plump breasts, "Is this okay?" He asks breathlessly and she bobs her head vigorously latching onto him.
"Yes, please, more … " He blinks to let reality sink in when she raises her arms in the air for him to get rid of her clothes.
He smiles. Hard. Crinkles forming by his eyes and cheery lines around his mouth as she looks up at him with those doe eyes glinting with his own reflection.
She squirms grumpily and he cackles loudly when she hooks his fingers into the hem of her jeans as a sign that "just undress me right now and fuck me hard over this counter." But, the romantic sap he's just keeps on being a tease.
"Fuck me already." She huffs locking her ankles behind his back.
"Trust me, I want it as bad as y'do but are you sure —-- "
"I'm --- just fuck …. " She cuts him off, cupping his cheeks and kisses his mouth. He groans when she sucks his swollen lip in between his teeth and lifts her pelvis grinned against his swell lining in his trouser to elaborate her neediness through actions,
He undresses her finally folding them and putting them away nicely while she stays a breathless mess just in her undies, her sheer panties soaked in her juices and profanities of moans fuses into air from both of them as Harry places his hands on her knees. Irises darkening with lust when he looks at the delicate lines of her drippy pussy lips forming from underneath the material.
"Spread your legs, I want to feel how turned on I made you feel." His voice an obscene grunt and it tingles her core making her feel she should obey him, "Fuckin' hell." His moan is dirty as he rubs the pad of his long digits against her soaked centre. His piercing gaze flitting between her thighs crumbled her in the best way possible.
She fists the hem of his top, tugging at it with the blabbering of his name.
A series of pornographic whines leaves her through her nose when he demands her to raise her bum so he could get rid of the last thing being a bother to them.
"Oh my — " She arches her spine when his fingers withered in her stickiness, between her glistening pussy lips to her mound pinching her clitoris in the way and listens to the soapy noises he's creating while lathering his hand with her juices he'd love more to coat his tongue with.
"This is what you want, hmm? For me to bend you over this counter right fucking now and pump me thick cock inside your sweet cunt from behind till you're screaming for me to ram harder inside you, so deep that you feel me in your little tummy and I keep it there for hours making you cum on it again and again — many time that you're milky and cramped around my prick like a filthy girl you're." He dips his impossibly sweet pink tongue inside her mouth and makes her sip down his dirty words through her throat not letting her mewls slip out as his lengthy finger slicks inside her causing her melt against his chest with a turmoil of emotions and heat she never felt before.
Her brain whirles with the mantra of fuckfuckfuck but her guppy lips says otherwise, she coils her arms around his shoulders scratching her nails down his neck — eyes rolling back as she shakes with the build of ecstasy.
"You're so snug and warm, sweets. Can't wait to be inside you." He husks curling his digit to give her upper wall a good rub, "Harry!" Her scream comes out gruff vibrating with a sexy octave.
"Yes, baby." He pinches her chin between his thumb and forefinger staining soft wet kisses from the corner of her lips, to her rosy cheeks and down her throat sewing love bites along her veins.
"Does it feel good, hmm? 'M g'na stuff you full of my prick bet it'll make you feel like heavens --" Her brows tenses up as he forces her to keep her eyes locked with his's and groans with the throb in his cock bound to implode with each whimper of his name she lets out hiking up her knees on the counter — the heels of her feet sticking firmly against the edge of the counter giving a carnally pleasing view for him to enjoy and ooze with sticky precum.
He huffs out breathily, fingers sliding in and out at a fast pace while he moves down to take her perky nipple between his teeth teasing it with nip of his tongue, "Fuck. Mhmm baby I've so many dirty things to d'to you, would you be an atta girl and be naughty with me?" He nuzzles his curls against her skin grinding his knuckles up and down against her swollen clit.
"Yes, yes, yes." She moans trying to sink impossibly deep on his fingers. He admires her in amusement as her belly twists into ripples and she thrashes in his tight hold —- broken into pieces of vulnerability foxily.
He withers his gaze to where he's driving his fingers roughly inside her and a cold shiver runs down his spine, eyelashes fluttering and he sucks his bottom lip brutally praising her softly, "yes just like that darling taking my fingers so good —- they'll look pretty down your throat too while I'll fill your other holes with me, all me." He wraps a hand around her throat giving it a light squeeze and it was enough to spread warmth and the saccharine feeling of fullness in her every tissue gushing over his fingers.
"You're mine." He growls nipping at her sweet spot –-- wearing her out with his continuous different motions inside her. His wrist glistening with her come and her head lulls on his tanned shoulder, eyes slip shut, chest levitating with shallow breaths.
She cups his cheeks wrapping her trembling legs around his waist and kisses his smile, it's sloppy and barely a kiss with their lazy effort to keep their mouths on each other to soak into intimacy.
Next they're a moaning and crying mess on the kitchen floor with her knee hooked around his hip to keep him close as he stretches her out leaving a pleasurable burn against her squishy inviting walls.
His cock sits warm inside her pussy and his balls snug against her bum. It's torturous waiting for her to give a signal that he might move because he couldn't resist but to be rock hard inside her and fuck her for hours but his knees are laughing at him for being unable to bear the sting of cold tiles.
"You can move, 'm okay." She whispers hugging him for dear life and he nods grinding his hips slowly, the bulbous head of his dick hitting all the right spots —- he's so good at fucking.
He takes her fleshy tits in his palms caressing them with each lewd stroke of his cock inside her and treats her glistening lips from his spit back to his mouth, pecking it generously.
"Pull me hair." He groans pushing hard and guides her hand into his swirl of sweaty curls — hips stuttering, eyes rolling back into his skull erotically when she does so peppering loving kisses under his earlobe, "You're g'na ruin me lovie … fuck me please." He whines grabbing her ass and lifts her pelvis to slide inside her dripping pussy with much more roughness.
She has never seen him like this. Shredded to seams for her, sweat beading down his gorgeous face like glimmer of pearls and eyes mossed with so much lust and desperation it knocks air out of her lungs.
He rolls them over gently and her squeal turns into a shameless yawp when he feels much more bigger than before inside her with her being on top of him —- he was right she could feel him in her tummy.
She's clueless what to do. Not that she's gonna show it –- she doesn't want to give him an impression that she knows barely anything about riding but the way she begins with zealous back and forth movement digging the heels of her palms against his pecks wrecks him havoc.
"You're doin' so good pet, yes, yes, yes. Use me baby. Use me like your little fuck toy 'm c'mon." He grabs the nape of her neck and brings her down to skim his tongue over her lips, manipulating the plushiness of them with his teeth. His balls slapping against her skin as she bounces on his cock diligently and he fists the soft flesh of her bum with both of his hands to help her ride him knows she's labouring herself out, "I'm all yours." He says caressing her sides to make sure she's okay and brushes the wisp of sticky hair behind her ear.
"You're looking so sexy sitting on my dick like that -- how about I don't allow you to cum so you could keep me warm with your pussy like that fo' hours?" His pants out gripping at her thighs as his prick spills with wetness inside her and she cries out shaking, "No!" He smirks crinkled forming by his eyes and takes this chance to drive hard up inside her making her flop onto his chest.
She gasps moistly, pulsating around him feeling every ridge and vein of his cock stroking against her walls creating obscene noises of skin meeting skin and their moistures mixing soapily like gooe.
"Cum fo' me baby -- squeezing me s' tight. I know you're there." His pants laboured and heavy as he sucks his own digits coating them with his spit nicely and glides them down pressing them to her weeping bud, then flickers it in prolong circles. Toes curling. His thrusts consistent and fast. She crooks her nose against his's murmuring to him with a wavering voice.
"I'm gonna cum, fuck."
"You're gonna make me come."
Her eyes widen in surprise but her body reacts otherwise albeit she has never experienced it —- but her moans were uncontrollable when he spanked her butt cheek and she crampied down at him jolting tremendously with the wave of insanity spreading to her bones.
"I'm a naughty boy, give it to me." He kisses his teeth together man spreading and throwing his knees up to ram up inside her perfectly.
His eyes shuts till he could see white spotting behind them -- he spills inside her in form of thick ribbons and milks her cunt with it riding her out of her high. She clings to his body and snuggles into him to tone down the shivers running down her spine with each tiny orgasm she feels rushing out with his lazy thrusts.
"I'm jello." She tells him and he looks down at her with a mishevious grin, "Does that give me a reason to eat you whole?" She rolls her eyes poking at his cheek with a grossed out expression.
"I'm still inside ye', remember?" He stirs his hips to make her realise and she yelps not know if it's making her feel hot or utterly sensitive, "You're insatiable." She mumbles pouting her lips to indicate him she's dying for his lips to smooch kisses to her.
"No kidding I love the noises you make when you come undone." She confesses timidly drawing stars at his chest and he giggles kissing her temple gently, "Stop before you wake me buddy up again –- he quite fond of you." He blushes hiding his face into the crook of her neck with tiny voice.
//
They're canoodling under the fluffy blanket on the sofa watching telly after they just took a bath together, shampooing eachother with peach scents and drying eachother off with warm towels. She's nuzzled into his side wearing one of his baby yellow robes, his arm stays around her shoulder thumb addicted to caressing her silky cheek, sometimes spreading his fingers down her throat to tip her chin up to smooch sweet kisses on her lips.
"You're cute when you're not a pest." She giggles and he frowns comically pretending to munch her alive, "That's very rude -- you should be thankful that I lov — " Her heart almost stops functioning.
They were sipping onto their green teas and nibbling onto the strawberry mochi they made and refrigerated before when the doorbell rang making them groan in laziness.
She stood up going to see what took Harry so long on the door and got revealed to him talking instinctively to whoever rang the bell.
"Hi, Y/N." Scottie smiles at him. Carrying her luggage and Y/N looks down at her attire for a second then forwards her hand shyly. She was so scared that day –- it's a blur to her but now she watches Scottie properly she realizes …. She's the same girl from all the paparazzi photos.
Something switches off inside her. The rainbows and confettis, the moonlight and stars and the nebula of the whole galaxy she had consumed in her little body from making love to Harry just shuts down into a white noise.
Her bottom lip plumps into a pout. Eyebrows trembling from this confused feeling of some invisible thing squeezing the life out of her.
She's jealous.
"I just came here to say bye." Scottie's voice makes her focus back into reality.
"Oh…" She just nods. She doesn't return the hug even though her brain guilt trips her for that and when Scottie leaves with the air thick and tense, Harry corners her in between a wall and piece of furniture cradling her grumpy face in his careful palms speaking gently to her.
"You don't 'ave to worry 'bout her, she's just a friend …. Infact you don't have to worry 'bout anyone because I love you so so much baby that I don't see myself spending me life with anyone else." She glances up at him twice, jaw falling slack from shock and he chuckles smothering her in kind-hearted kisses when she stares at him like a hawk.
"You what!?"
"I love you, Y/N." Her eyes closing like a moth flapping nearer to fire and finding peace in burning inside it.
"I love you too so much." She whispers and welcomes his lips melting against her ardently. With the passion only lovers hold. Amiability she couldn't find anyone else but in his embrace, in his kisses and his lovemaking.
"Can we go back to cuddlin'? Me feet gettin' cold baby." He whines treading fastly into the living room while carrying her like a kitten from behind and makes squeaky noises once snoozed under the warmth of the blanket.
He touches their foreheads. Kissing the tip of her nose adorably.
"I love you." Then burst into giggles. When she returns the passion coyly.
"I love you too."

Chapter 6: Revelations and Rifles
When Sydney came to, part of her hoped the hit she took to the head also knocked her memory back. But nope, still didn’t know who the voices in her head were.
She opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was a wall decorated with different pictures of the Seed family and of Eden’s Gate. Next thing she noticed was that she was sitting on the floor and her wrists were bound in front of her to a metal pipe, kept in place with a ziplock tie.
She looked down at herself and saw she was still dressed in the shorts and tank top she was in when she left her cabin, the only thing missing was her jacket.
Looking around a bit more, it didn’t appear to be like any of the cabins in the compound. More like the inside of a trailer house. Something glinted on the floor and Sydney realized there were shards of glass littered around the room of what looked like a small trailer. If she could just reach out for a sharp enough piece, she could find a way to cut open the ziplock tie.
Whoever took her clearly didn’t think this all the way through, practically handing her a means to escape.
Oh shit, or was this some kind of creepy Saw thing? Either way she wasn’t going to stick around to find out.
She stretched her leg and started pushing a few shards towards her with her foot. Thankfully her captors were also kind enough to leave her sneakers on.
Sydney was able to drag some shards close to her when she heard a door open. She hid the shards under her legs quickly as the footsteps of whoever arrived got louder.
Two men wearing Eden’s Gate clothes walked into the room, sneering at her as soon as they spotted her. They didn’t look like anyone she knew.
“Good morning, sunshine.” The one with long unruly hair said.
“So sorry if we kept ‘ya waitin.” The bald one said.
Sydney shook her head. “Oh not at all. Just woke up actually. Comfy floor here.”
“The fuck?” Long-hair asked.
“You have any idea why you’re here, girlie?” bald one asked, and Sydney assumed he was trying to sound intimidating.
“Why bother? You’re gonna explain it to me anyway ri-”
The bald one slammed the butt of his rifle onto her knee. She groaned in pain, but made sure not to lift her leg so much as to make sure the glass was still hidden.
Hopefully they leave her alone again so she could escape.
It was safe to assume these two were part of the group of soldiers who didn’t like her. So Sydney’s only other option of getting out was someone in the compound noticing she was missing, unless of course the two idiots who captured her were actually smart enough to cover their tracks.
How long was she out? All she could tell from the light coming in from the window was that it was daytime.
“You have the guts to speak to us like that? After all you did, sinner.” Long-hair snarled the last word at her.
Sydney rolled her eyes. “Like I said, still waiting for you to fucking explain.” As far as she was concerned, they could even be Resistance agents in disguise who waited for the perfect chance to strike.
But then again, why target her and not the Seed family?
“You think yer so clever, fooling even the Father with yer fake amnesia bullshit.” Bald guy said.
Sydney huffed out a dry laugh. “Trust me, I wish it was fake. Maybe then I’ll know why you two assholes are pulling stupid shit like this.”
“Enough!” Long-hair yelled. “How dare you. How dare you think we can just accept you into our family, attend sermons with us, all because you supposedly forgot.”
“I did.” Sydney emphasized. “You can ask the doctor, he-”
“You just don’t forget the people you killed!”
Sydney froze.
She what?
The silence was deafening and that’s when the voices attacked. Screams, cries, incoherent shouts, gunshots, explosions, fires. They all invaded her mind.
Her blood ran cold, her hands started shaking and her head was throbbing.
She couldn’t freak out, not now. She tried to keep her breathing under control, long enough to ask, “What?” but it came out so pathetic and soft that she wasn’t surprised when they cackled at her.
Long-hair walked in circles around the room as he narrowed his eyes at her. “Killed. Put a bullet in their heads, threw dynamite at them, hell even cracked open their skulls with a fucking shovel!” He stopped in front of her and tightened his fists. “They were my friends! They gave their lives to protect the Father from you. And now he claims you’ll protect us?”
His fist collided with her cheek. He hit hard but it was better than him using the butt of his rifle.
Or actually shooting her with said rifle.
Sydney slowly turned her head back to face them, ignoring the throbbing in her cheek. She could thank him, actually. At least it distracted her enough to calm down a bit.
There were still so many questions she wanted to ask, but asking her captors may not be the greatest idea.
Their friends? So she killed people from the Project?
She instantly thought of Elena, Trevor and Benjamin.
Who did she kill? Why did she kill? And if she did kill people from Eden’s Gate, why was Joseph okay with her staying on?
Then she remembered the Father’s words the day she arrived at the compound.
So now you shall atone.
Oh fuck. Is that what she was atoning for?
He struck her again. “You are a sinner unworthy of joining us at Eden’s Gate! We will avenge our fallen brothers and sisters, we wi-”
“That’s enough, Kevin.” the bald one said as Kevin punched her once more, on the same cheek and Sydney had to spit blood out.
Kevin backed away from her to face his companion. “She deserves a lot more punishment for everyone she’s killed, Norm. You know that.”
Norm sighed. “We got lucky capturing her when we did. But people will wonder where she is soon so we gotta kill her now.”
Even though her face stung and she had to blink a few times for her vision to steady, she was conscious enough to hear what they said. Sydney knew she was running out of time. If she wanted to escape, she had to do it quickly.
With both her captors distracted and turned away from her, she shifted her legs, feeling the cool glass underneath as she inched them closer to her wrists. She dragged her hands down the pipe and closer to the floor, slowly so as to not get their attention.
Some of the shards cut the inside of her leg but it didn’t matter. She could bandage them up when she was free. She couldn’t bandage a bullet hole to the brain.
Sydney finally got one shard close enough to her hands. She stretched her fingers to grab it and fiddled with it as quickly and as subtly as possible.
Thankfully Kevin and Norm were still busy arguing.
“It’s not enough to just kill her and get it over with!” Kevin yelled. “She showed no remorse, so why should we?”
“Because if they catch us we-”
“Rook! Rook, you here?” All three of them froze when they heard a voice from outside the trailer.
Sydney didn’t know whether to feel relieved or frightened when she recognized it as Benjamin’s voice. She couldn’t just scream for help. What if he didn’t have a weapon with him? What if they shot him first? Or shoot her then him?
She hid the broken glass in her hand, closing it in a fist.
“Shit. I told you we shoulda killed her right away, Kev!” Norm hissed.
“Shut the fuck up and let me think!”
Benjamin yelled again. “C’mon, Rook. You better not have left the island.” His voice sounded closer that time.
Kevin took two shallow breaths and gripped his rifle tightly. “All right new plan. We kill ‘im both.”
Fuck this wasn’t good.
Sydney chanced using the shard again. She needed to get rid of them before they hurt her and Benjamin.
“What?” Norm whispered nervously.
“He’s gonna come in regardless.” Kevin said. “I’ll shoot ‘im soon as he opens the door. Then we shoot her. Ain’t that what you wanted?”
Norm shook his head. “We don’t kill our own, brother.”
“I’m the one doin’ the work. I’ll be the one to accept atonement for this. Now stay here, keep your gun on ‘er.”
Kevin left the room quietly… on his way to kill her friend.
Something inside Sydney snapped.
She saw visions of herself breaking necks and cracking bones. She couldn’t see the faces of those she killed, but there were so many. She could easily kill Norm now, free herself with the broken glass then slice his neck open or stab him in the vocal cords.
She knew she could do it. Then she could shoot Kevin easily right before he got to Benjamin.
She could.
But she wouldn’t.
If she was a killer before- and by the sudden wave of images that invaded her head, she really was - she wasn’t one now.
Norm wasn’t focused on her, instead staring out the room probably at Kevin, looking like a nervous wreck. And to think he took a cheap shot to her knee just a while ago.
Sydney took that chance to finally cut through the ziptie. She didn’t waste any time and went straight for a still fidgeting and panicking Norm.
No killing.
So she stabbed his hand with the broken shard before he could react and fight back. He screamed as he dropped his rifle and Sydney grabbed it.
She heard Kevin yell ‘What the hell!’ from out in the corridor but she ignored it. Too busy getting her revenge on Norm by slamming his head with the butt of his own rifle, effectively knocking him out.
She took cover by the wall beside the open doorframe and yelled “Benjamin you better have your damn gun with you!” at the top of her lungs.
“Rook?!” Benjamin called from outside.
Then she instinctively ducked her head when bullets whizzed by her. “You fucking bitch!” Kevin screamed over the gunshots.
She checked the ammo of her own gun and thanked Norm for having it fully loaded.
If Kevin was still inside the trailer, that meant Benjamin was safe. And she had to make sure that didn’t change.
“Stay where you are, Ben!” Sydney screamed over another hail of bullets.
“What the hell’s happening?” was his reply.
Kevin cackled, his footsteps getting closer. “Like you care what happens to my brothers and sisters. I’ll make sure you don’t hurt anyone else!”
Sydney gripped the rifle tight, and after taking a deep breath, she moved out of cover and saw Kevin with his gun aimed right at her.
Jacob’s voice rang in her head.
‘You’ve been a damn good shot since you got to Hope County.’
She shot Kevin once, in the hand close to his rifle’s trigger. Kevin dropped his gun, yelping in pain.
Sydney slammed her rifle onto one of his legs, causing him to fall over.
She stood above him, keeping her rifle aimed. She kicked Kevin’s own weapon away as he groaned in pain on the floor.
“Finish me off then. Release that Wrath within you.” He pointed at the tattoo on her chest weakly.
“Shut up.” she hissed.
“You can’t run from your past, sinner. You ca-”
She put the rifle away to bend over and punch him hard in the face, knocking him out. There, now she paid them both back for what they did to her.
Sydney stepped back until she felt a wall behind her and slumped down, taking deep breaths.
Her adrenaline rush was slowly fading and she could feel the stinging pain on her face again and how her wrists were sore from being tied up for God knows how long.
She heard a door slam open followed by hurried footsteps. She looked up and saw Benjamin, his pistol out.
“Rook?” he asked softly.
If Kevin and Norm were telling the truth and she did kill people from the Project, maybe everyone else probably knew. And the scene in front of Benjamin probably looked suspicious, what with her being the only one conscious among the three people inside.
“They kidnapped me. They were gonna shoot you so I escaped, knocked them out and-”
“Whoa whoa whoa, easy Rook.” Benjamin placed his gun back in his holster and raised his arms up peacefully. “I know you didn’t have anythin’ to do with this.”
Sydney could only nod stiffly, grateful to her friend. “How’d you know to look for me?”
Benjamin placed his hands back down, and knelt beside her. “Elena got worried when you didn’t show up for breakfast this morning. She went to your cabin to check in on ya but you weren’t there. She asked me to help look for ya.”
He turned to Kevin then back at her, smirking. “Though it looks like you didn’t need my help.”
“What time is it?”
“A little past nine in the mornin’.”
She rubbed her sore wrists. Ok so she wasn’t out for long. Bless Elena’s kind heart for worrying over her. Sydney made a mental note to hug the old woman the next time she saw her.
“Let’s get you outta here, Rook.” Benjamin said, standing from his seat. “Need to get some ice for yer face.”
She frowned and looked over at Kevin. “What about him? And his friend in the room over there?”
“Pfft, assholes’re outcold. I’ll send somebody to get ‘im when we get back.”
Which reminded her, “Where are we exactly?”
“Still on the Father’s island. We’re in a little trailer not too far from the compound.”
Sydney laughed dryly. “How the fuck did those two even sneak me out of there?”
“Bah, prolly while everyone was attending the early sermon. Jacob’s right, we got great guards but anyone could pass through if they knew what our church schedules are, dammit.”
Sydney lifted her head up hearing the redhead’s name. “Does Jacob know? That I was gone?”
Benjamin sighed. “No, not yet. The plan was to tell him if I didn’t find you around the island. Luckily these two idiots were too afraid to stray far.”
Part of her was relieved that Jacob didn’t know. It meant she had time to process this new information by herself first. If he were the one who found her, she might’ve exploded and demanded answers from him. What were he and Joseph hiding from her? Why were they hiding it from her?
Sydney took one more deep breath before carefully standing up, mindful of the small cuts she still had on her legs from the glass. She strapped the rifle to her shoulder and brushed her hair away from her face.
She nodded at Benjamin and placed a hand on his shoulder as he helped her stand. “Thanks, Benjamin. For not accusing me of attacking them. Wasn’t sure what you’d think when you walked in and saw two bodies on the floor.”
Benjamin chuckled. “Aww hell, Rook! I got your back, I know you ain’t gonna hurt any of our own, unlike the two fools you knocked out.”
She smiled tiredly at him before heading out of the trailer, Benjamin following behind her.
Outside, there were two Eden’s Gate trucks. She found her jacket in what was probably Kevin and Norm’s vehicle.
Benjamin guided her to the passenger seat of the other truck before getting into the driver’s seat himself.
He started the engine before turning to her and softly saying, “Hey, I don’t know what those two said to you but, you’re a good person, Rook. We know you’re atoning.”
Sydney let out a short sob, willing herself not to cry. She nodded, keeping her eyes on the road in front of her.
And because she didn’t trust her voice not to crack, she simply said, “Thank you.”
--------------
It was a short drive back to the compound. Benjamin insisted she visit the infirmary first while he went to find Elena.
The doctor informed her nothing was broken. He gave her an ice pack for the swelling on her face to go down and disinfected the cuts on her legs. Thankfully the punches she took weren’t that strong, she only had a few bruises that should be gone in a day.
Elena practically busted the infirmary doors open, her eyes frantic until she spotted Sydney. The old woman looked like she was about to cry, hugging Sydney tightly. Sydney couldn’t help but hug her back, thanking her for being one of the reasons she was able to escape.
When the doctor was done assessing her, Sydney was free to go.
“You need me to stay with you, hun? Just ‘til you fall asleep?” Elena offered as they walked back to Sydney’s cabin.
Sydney shook her head. “That’s very kind of you to offer but I’ll be fine, thank you. You’ve done more than enough for me, already.”
“Oh hush girl! Like I said, we’re family. Then I’ll be back later to drop off your lunch. You just lie down and get your rest.”
“Thank you, that’d be great.”
They went their separate ways and Sydney saw her cabin in front of her.
She would’ve been relieved if not for Jacob leaning on the door.
She felt her heart sink. As much as she wanted to talk to him about what happened, she needed time to go over her thoughts first, untangle the memories that had begun to resurface.
Sydney stopped right in front of Jacob, who stared down at her intensely.
“You look like shit.” he simply said.
“It looks worse than it feels.”
He brought his hand up to move the hair away from her face, surprising her. He whistled as he looked over the swelling. “Damn, that’s still gotta sting though.”
Her chest tightened as Jacob casually and gently touched her, staring at her with those piercing blue eyes of his that sparkled when he genuinely laughed.
Funny how just a few hours ago, she did see them sparkle and she heard that wonderful laugh of his that made her smile when she and Jacob were talking over glasses of milk.
Then she got kidnapped, found out she was a killer and they didn’t tell her.
She turned her head slightly and Jacob paused before putting his hand back down. “The doc said I should be fine by tomorrow.”
He was still blocking her way and Sydney was about to politely ask him to step aside when he suddenly said, “The guys that took you, they-”
“I didn’t kill them.” she hissed.
“Hey, relax. I know. Your friend Benjamin told me.”
“Then can I go? I wanna get out of these dirty clothes already.”
“Look, Sydney I just-”
“Not now just… not now.” Sydney said softly, hoping he wouldn’t push her further. She didn’t feel like exploding in front of Jacob and the whole compound.
She needed to be alone with her thoughts, settle the crazy mess in her head first.
Jacob sighed heavily before finally moving out of her way. “At least get somethin’ to eat.”
His arm brushed hers as he passed her. She didn’t look back at him as she entered her cabin and closed the door behind her. Ironic how the last time they parted ways, it was a completely different mood.
Sydney took a quick shower to wash all the dirt and blood off of her before putting on some clean underwear and dressing in an oversized white shirt with the Project’s logo on it.
Her cheeks and jaw began to throb painfully and she patted them with the ice pack she was given. She stared up at the ceiling and allowed herself to process what she learned earlier, hoping the voices in her head would cooperate.

Just in time
Kevin Atwater x Reader
Hi I don’t know if you are comfortable writing this and if not then I totally understand but maybe a labor and delivery story with Kevin. Maybe he is stuck on a case and can’t get to you right away.
It was just your luck, you were days away from giving birth and Kevin gets pulled away on a case which needed him to go undercover for who knows long. To say you was stressed was an understatement.
“It’s going to be fine” Kevin whispered kissing your head “I will be back in time so please stop stressing”
“I’m trying but you know what I’m like” you half laughed resting your hand on your stomach.
“Yeah I know that’s why you are staying with Trudy and Mouch, so then I’m not going to be as worried” he smiled placing his hand over yours. “And if you do go into labour whilst I’m not here Voight can contact me ok”
“That makes me feel a little better” you whispered taking in Kevin’s scent.
“Atwater we gotta go man” Adam said slapping his shoulder before giving you a hug. “And you don’t go into labour I don’t wanna miss out on cuddles with my godson”
Oh yeah Adam was going to be god father so he became quite protective of you.
“I don’t plan on it Ruz” you half laughed “look after him ok”
“Always do” he smirked “but we really gotta go”
“I love you” Kevin smiled before kissing you softly.
“I love you to stay safe out there” you smiled “that goes to you to Ruz I want you both back in one piece”
And with that they was gone and Trudy was ushering you behind the desk making you sit down.
“I’m not a china doll Trudy” you laughed.
“I just don’t want your waters breaking out there” she smirked “too much of a slipping hazard”
One thing was sure the next couple of days would be interesting living with Trudy.
———
The next couple of days flew by meaning you was now overdue, however Kevin and Adam was still undercover and didn’t know how long for.
Throughout the whole day you was restless, no matter how you tried you couldn’t get comfy. It wasn’t until you felt a sudden wetness between your legs you started to panic.
“Trudy” you breathed as a sharp pain hit “I think I’m in labour”
“Right okay stay calm” she said as she saw the panic in your face “we got this” she smiled calmly as she called up to Voight.
“You need to pull Atwater and Ruzek NOW, yeah it’s time” she said putting the phone down “Garcia cover desk for me, and let’s get you to med”
“But Kevin’s not here” you sighed as she helped you to your feet.
“This little one doesn’t care about that girly, they are ready to be welcomed into this crazy family” she laughed as you headed to her car.
———
“Where. Is. He.” You said through gritted teeth as another contraction hit.
“He will be here I promise” trudy said dabbing they wet flannel across your forehead just as Voight poked his head in the door.
“How we doing in here” he asked.
“Be better if Kev was here Sarge” you breathed.
“He’s on his way, the boys are 10 minutes out so hold on” he nodded before disappearing.
10 minutes soon passed and there was no sign of Kevin.
“Ok Y/N one last big push when I say okay” Natalie grinned.
“No not until Kevin gets here” you panted through the contraction.
“Unfortunately baby isn’t going to wait” she said softly.
“Yo I said move outta of the way” you heard a familiar voice shout in the hall before Kevin came skidding into the room all out of breath. “I’m here, I’m here” he said taking your hand from Trudy.
“About time” you huffed.
“Told you I wouldn’t miss this” he whispered kissing your forehead.
“Okay Y/N I need you to push” Natalie nodded.
And with that tiny cry’s filled the room and you collapsed back onto the bed.
“Congratulations it’s a boy” she beamed placing your son on your chest. “Do you have a name?”
“Yeah Logan Adam Atwater” you grinned looking down your son.
“I can’t believe we have a son” Kevin whispered as took Logan for a cuddle.
About an hour had passed when Kevin turned to you “Do you want a bit more time alone or shall I let the other child in our life in”
“Go get him” you laughed “we all know he’s gonna be driving everyone crazy out there”
As soon as Kevin poked his head out the door your could hear Adam whining.
“Yo Ruz” Kevin grinned “get your butt in here”
“Finally” he laughed practically running into the room making you both laugh.
You soon realised life would never be boring with Kevin and Adam around.
“So we would like you to meet your god son Logan Adam Atwater” Kevin grinned at his best mate as he passed Logan over for cuddles. It wasn’t very often you saw Kevin and Adam cry but today was special and in that moment you knew that your son would never be without family whether blood related or not.

Resurfaced
(Kevin Atwater x Original Female Character)
*Not my gif*
Kevin finds it hard to protect what's his when the past comes back to haunt him and his wife.
Moonlight & ambient noise from the city streets several stories below filled the room. Both of you barely dressed, Kevin’s large muscular frame rested comfortably on top of you in the bed. Having just made love for the first time in weeks, neither one of you wanted to move from this space. He kissed you right above your collarbone, which still managed to make you quiver in all the right places. You gently traced circles along his back and finally decided it was time to break the silence.
“What’s wrong?”
He shifted to place his lips slightly lower on your chest as a distraction. While leaving gentle kisses.. “Everything’s...fine..Bianca..”
Finding it difficult to concentrate and not cave in to another round of passion, you immediately put his head in your hands to get his attention. Motioning for him to move so you could sit up straight, readjusting the sheets over your bare chest as he rolls on to his back, clearly annoyed. Play time was over.
“Kevin, I’m serious. I know something happened. You've been distracted, almost nervous, all week. Then tonight..you were different. I can’t describe it but you know I’m right.”
Kissing your hand, he realized in this moment that honesty with you was the only way. You were his wife after all, the person he loved more than anyone and would do anything to protect. He finally sat up, back towards you, facing the wall. You waited anxiously for words to come out of his mouth.
“It’s Damien. He’s back in Chicago.”
This sentence instantly shot chills down your spine. Kevin turned around to take you in, evaluating your mental state after hearing this news. Tears welling up in your eyes.
“Bianca.”
“How is that possible? I thought...what??”
“He popped up last week. We were working the case. Burgess was under with Upton at this little hole in the wall in Pilsen and he showed up at their meet.
“Did he see her? Is she ok?”
“She’s fine babe. Kim thought she might get made so she dipped out really quickly & let Hailey finish the deal. Voight & I have had a security detail on you ever since.”
You were now panicked and obviously upset that this news was kept from you. “You’ve what?! Don’t you think that’s something I should’ve known?! Oh my God.”
You jump out of bed sheet in tow, now pacing the floor. Kevin, knowing the bombshell he’d just dropped gives you another minute to process before he’s up and off the bed behind you.
Taking your face in his hands, the deepest sincerity in his heart, “B, look at me. I will NEVER let that piece of shit touch you again. Do you hear me? I know I should’ve told you, but I didn’t want you worried, especially without me being here for so long. I gotchu... You’re safe with me.” Kissing your forehead & wiping away your tears.
“I know. I know I am. I just thought this was all over. I don’t want my mess affecting Intelligence. If anything happened to Kim or you because of my past…”
Now sobbing, Kevin wraps you in his reassuring arms, with a steely look of determination to protect his world on his face.
Morning came, and you were startled awake by the sound of Kevin’s phone ringing. You heard the shower running in the next room so you reached to answer it with a groggy hello.
“Hi Hank.”
“Bianca, how you holdin’ up kiddo?”
Hank had become like family to you rather quickly. Your case was special. Damien was a long time predator he and Al had been trying to capture for years. When Hank found you 6 years ago, beaten, bloodied and half conscious, he made it his duty to look after you, especially seeing that you had no relatives in a new city. You were there with him through it all...Justin’s disappearing acts, Al’s passing, which eventually led to you meeting and falling in love with Atwater.
“I thought he was dead. How is he back? Why is he back?”
“I’m doing everything in my power to figure that out, Bianca. Don’t you worry about this ok? We’re gonna get this prick.”
Nothing anyone said could completely reassure you in this moment, but you nodded in agreement anyway.
“Yeah...Kev’s in the shower. I’ll have him call you back.”
You hang up the phone and get out of bed, looking for something to throw on. You find an oversized hoodie of your husbands and a pair of shorts.
You exit the bedroom just as Kevin emerges from the bathroom, towel around his waist.
“Hey...I was gonna wear that today.”
Completely deadpan, “It looks better on me.”
As he walks towards the kitchen to greet you, “You’re right about that. Good morning.”
Attempting to plant a kiss on your cheek, you show zero emotion & continue to prep your cup of tea.
He shakes his head but decides to give you your space and heads to the bedroom to get dressed.
Standing at the threshold of your bedroom door, tea in hand you boldly say, “I want you to put me under.”
Kevin stops in his tracks, as if he’s spotted Bigfoot buying a Venture card on the green line. Pulling his shirt the rest of the way over his head.
“Put you under what??!”
“You know what I mean. Undercover, Kevin. You know I’m part of the reason he’s back in Chicago. He didn’t get what he wanted from me before Voight found me that night. His usual pattern was completely thrown off. I want to help. I need to help catch him.”
Kevin storms passed you in to the living room. You follow.
“HELL NO. Are you joking?! You want us to damn near put you in the hands of the man who almost took you from me, before I got a chance to have you?! Absolutely not.”
You walk towards him softly. Knowing this will be a hard battle to win, you sit in front of him on a chair as he leans against the wall.
“Baby...it’s taken years for me to feel safe in my own skin again. You did that for me. Hank looking after me, leading me to you. This life that we’ve built is the greatest gift I could’ve ever gotten. And now you’re telling me that someone is threatening what we’ve worked to create? I can’t just stand and watch while you guys, my family, puts themselves in harms way for me. I have to do something.
………
A few weeks had gone by and Intelligence still had no leads in their investigation. It was almost as if Damien Charles had never resurfaced...until the team got an alert that a young woman was found dead in an abandoned warehouse, brutally assaulted. They had no real proof, as Damien was very careful, but it was definitely his MO. Kevin was on edge and pissed at you, somehow believing that shutting you out would stop you from getting your way. Knowing your husband wouldn’t budge, you decided to go to Hank to convince him to use you as bait to catch Damien. He reluctantly obliged.
Night fell on the 21st. Upton and Burgess were prepping your phone with a tracking device while Ruzek and Halstead checked weapons and started to vest up. You were nervous, but Kim kept reminding you to take deep breaths. “We’ll be with you the whole time.”
“I know, I just wish Kevin…”
Hailey chimed in, handing you your phone, “Trust me, he’ll come around Bianca. It’s in their nature to want to protect us, but sometimes it’s up to us to take that power back ourselves.”
Kevin was upstairs in the locker room wreaking havoc on anything that wasn’t pinned down. Hank, hearing the commotion from down the hall, rushed in to see who had lost their mind.
“Kevin! Kevin!”
“How could you let her do this man?! I’m her husband! You don’t get to make that kind of decision for her.”
“Neither do you, Kev. This was her choice, do you understand? No matter how much either of us wants to catch this scumbag, she wants him gone a whole lot more. She’s stronger than you think. Now you have a choice. You either hang back, mad at the world or you gear up and back Bianca...back this team.”
Back downstairs, having settled in on the choice you’d made, “Ok, let’s do this.”
As the three of you were headed out of the room to join the others, Kevin walked in. Kim touched his shoulder in an attempt to reassure him as she walked away. You wanted to find solace in his familiar embrace, but you knew it was pointless. The walls were up. He walked towards you and you immediately noticed the tears in his eyes. “Kev…” Grabbing your hand and leaving a kiss on your frontal lobe, he quickly wiped his face and walked out to join the others.
It was a typical undercover mission, except this time, the stakes were much higher. You and Upton walked into the crowded club, dressed as if you were ready to party. The intel the team gathered tracked Damien at this same location several days in a row looking for his next victim. The rest of the team were scattered throughout the room or on surveillance outside the main entrance. This was one of those cases where justice was decided by Voight and his team, no judge or jury necessary.
You spot him almost immediately. Tapping Hailey on the arm, she reports back to the group, “We have eyes on Damien. He’s at the bar talking to a young woman.”
Hailey turns to you and for a moment, you can’t even remember your own name.
“Bianca, you ready? You good?”
“Yes. I’m ready.”
Morphing into a drunken party goer ready to have more fun, you make your way to the bar.
Halstead distracts the woman Damien is speaking to, saving her from imminent danger.
As Damien walks away, pissed that he had to ‘let that one go’ he spots you. A beautiful & familiar face. You’ve changed over the years, but a vulture never forgets its uneaten prey. You’re nervous as hell. More thoughts run through your mind than you can handle at once, but for now, you must push them aside.
No sooner than you spotted him, Damien disappeared into the crowd. You called Kim as a cover while you began to look around. “Hey girlie! I thought you were supposed to meet me tonight? I don’t see you!”
Kim responds on the other line…”Keep talking, Jay is checking the bathroom. He couldn’t have gone far.”
You spot Kevin on the stairwell on the other side of the club. Everything will be fine….
The fire alarm sounds.
Suddenly you feel a sharp pain in your neck.
A look of panic on Kevin’s face in the distance is the last thing you see as the cell phone slips from your hands.
Everything goes BLACK.
Chaos has ensued in the club. The alarm continues to blare, sprinklers shooting out water, and people running in every direction. Voight radios in as he and Ruzek are covering the perimeter, trying to calm down the frantic crowd. “Hailey, talk to me! Is everyone ok in there?!”
Kevin has bolted down the stairs, pushing his way through the crowd as he sees Damien pick you up and drag you out a backdoor. “B!! Bianca!!” It’s as if he’s trying to run in quicksand. As Kevin finally makes it to the back door, Burgess, who isn’t far behind spots your phone on the floor. She blots out after Kevin who is racing to his car. They get in, Kevin, not saying a word, speeding down the block trying not to lose you. Kim radios the team.
“Sarge, Damien has Bianca! We’re headed the wrong way down Parkside Ave in pursuit of a late model gray pick up truck. Tags are Indiana custom DG ...L16. We’re making a right on to George St. now!”
“We’re coming!! Don’t lose them!”
The high speed chase through the streets of Chicago continues as the rest of the team joins Atwater and Burgess. Atwater loses sight of the truck for what seems like an eternity. Ruzek radios Kim… “I just pulled up at the warehouse. I see the truck.”
Kevin picks up speed, gripping the wheel even tighter, “Copy that. Tell him we’re 5 mins out.”
…………………
You begin to come out of your fog. The dark room Damien has you in smells like mildew and death, yet in weird contrast, you’re lying on a mattress with fresh white sheets. Damien, not realizing that you’ve woken up, is in the corner at a table pouring wine and gathering instruments. You scan the room looking for anything to use as a weapon. Fear takes over as he walks towards the bed. You pretend to still be in a daze.
Scanning your body, then touching your face… “Wow. You’re more beautiful than I remember, darling. I’ve been waiting for this chance to be with you again.” He sits you up, started to touch you more, now looking down your shirt.
“Please, don’t…” Before you can get the words out of your mouth, his hand is around your neck. Gasping for air, tears start to stream down your face.
“DON’T act like you don’t want this! Hank Voight stole our chance at happiness years ago. And he thought he had me, but now is our time.”
As Damien leans in to connect his lips with yours, the sound of metal hitting pavement resounds in another area of the warehouse stopping him. He loosens his grip on you allowing just enough time for you to lunge for the bottle of wine and swing it hard against his skull.
“KEVIN!!!!!!” You scream, as you quickly scramble out of Damien’s grip. Racing towards the door, your realize that it’s locked from within. As you begin to pound on the door, Damien slowly starts to move closer to you. “KEVIN!!!! HANK!!! Please...down here!!”
Had the noise you heard a few minutes prior been a false alarm? Did you make a mistake? Damien’s disorientation and head gushing with blood give you time to look around the room for another way out, but nothing. With a newfound burst of energy, he lunges towards you like the madman that he is now pinning you against the wall. You fight him off with every ounce of strength you have.
BOOM!!!!!!
Moments later in true Atwater fashion, the door to your current prison swings open. Without any hesitation, Kevin grabs Damien and tosses him yards across the room. He stands over his exhausted body and begins to pummel his face like a boxing bag. Ruzek rushes in to stop him.
“Kev! Kev! We got him man! We got him.”
Snapping back to reality, Kevin turns his attention back towards you, crouched down near the door crying. Voight and the rest of Intelligence are now in the room. They stand in utter disbelief that this madness has finally come to an end.
Without saying a word, Kevin comes down to your level and begins to gently kiss every inch of your tear-filled face as if there’s healing in his touch….you’ve always known that there is.
You wrap your arms around him as he carefully lifts you up off the floor. You’ve never felt more relieved in all your life.
Voight, clearly broken up at seeing you in this state, puts a hand on Kevins shoulder. “Make sure you get her over to Med. We’ll clean up here.”
Fully leaning on your husband for support, the two of you exit the room.
………………………
Kevin hadn’t left your side since being admitted into the hospital two days ago. He was planted in the chair beside you.
“Do you need anything babe?”
Touching his cheek to reassure him, despite the IV in your arm. “I’m ok, thank you.”
Dr. Halstead walks into the room to check in. “Bianca, we got all of the test results back. The syringe he used to sedate you wasn’t contaminated, and everything else is cleared. You’ll be able to go home today.”
Kevin gets up to shake his hand. “Thank you man. Seriously, thank you.”
“Of course. Bianca take it easy ok? Try to hold off on being a hero for a while.”
With a smile, “I’ll try. Thanks Will”
Will walks out. Voight walks in.
He and Kevin hug.
“Hey Sarge.”
“How’s our patient doing?”
“I get to leave today.”
“Ok! That’s great. Oh look at those balloons.”
Kevin chuckles, “Yeah, everyone stopped by yesterday.”
Voight walks closer to the bed like a proud father and takes your hand. “I’m really proud of your kiddo.” You squeeze his hand in acknowledgement, knowing that for Voight that sentence translated into ‘I love you and I couldn’t bear it if we lost you.’
Voight starts to walk out of the room and Kevin follows.
“Yo Sarge, are we good? You know.”
“He’s gone. Forever this time. Ruzek and I took care of it for you.” With a pat on Kevin’s chest, Voight looks back at you one more time and leaves.
Kevin makes his way back into the room. You sit up a bit, still weak and reach for him.
“Everything ok?”
“Everything’s perfect, B. Everything’s perfect.”
He kisses you as if there’s no one else in the world besides the two of you. His world has been set right once again.
“Let’s get you home.”

(previous)
The next day, Alice and Christine met up for breakfast, as usual. Even though they were going to see each other in the evening at the party, they wanted to get breakfast anyway since they missed the week before. Plus, Alice wanted to prep Christine for meeting Dean, because even though she told Dean to be on his best behavior, it was Christine she was worried about.
"If I've said it once, I've said it a million times," Alice said, "Dean's really nice, so you have to be nice to him."
"I will, I will," she said with a roll of her eyes. "I'm just going to grill him on his intentions until he breaks."
"Christine," Alice whined.
"I'm joking, geez," Christine laughed. "I know he means a lot to you. I swear I'll play nice."
"And," Alice added, "don't talk about his job, okay? I'm pretty sure everyone who's there is going to be part of the family, but I don't want to take any chances. Plus, I don't even know if you're supposed to know about it."
"Well, you just eliminated my opening line," she said. "Hey Dean, you kill anyone lately?"
"Hilarious," Alice said.
"Does he have any cute workers?" she asked. "Any who are more around our age?"
"Mm, Jack probably won't be there," she said. "Kevin's kind of cute in like a nerdy-secretly-sexy way."
"I could be into that," she said.
"Is your only goal to get laid?" Alice asked.
Christine shrugged. "Not everyone has hot ass on tap."
After breakfast, Alice headed back home. She only had about an hour before she was going to go shopping with Hannah and Jess. She got a text from Jess that read, Making a Starbucks run. You want anything?
While she had just had coffee at breakfast with Christine, she couldn't turn down Starbucks. She told Jess what she wanted, thanked her, and in about a half hour, Jess texted that they had arrived. Christine headed down to the car, waving at the girls as soon as they could see her.
"Hey girlie," Jess said. "Your venti iced caramel macchiato."
"Thank you, thank you," she said, taking the drink. "So where are we shopping?"
"There's a designer dress shop about an hour away," Hannah explained. "You alright for a bit of a road trip?"
"Sure!" Alice said.
Their ride was filled with crowd pleasing classics -"Born in the USA", "Rocket Man", and the likes- and random chit chat about how everyone was doing. Jess didn't bring up the pregnancy -just as she said she wouldn't- but it was hard for Alice not to talk about it when it was the biggest event of her life at the present time.
When they got to the dress shop, Alice already saw dresses in the window that she liked. She was glad Dean offered to pay for whatever she got. Even though she didn't like him spending excessive amounts of money on her, she loved the idea of being able to dress up in something designer.
"How fancy is this event?" Alice asked, running her fingers over the fabric of the dresses. "Are we talking ball gowns?"
Jess chuckled. "Not that fancy. Maybe a-line? Trumpet? Column?"
"So floor length?" she clarified.
"You could do tea length," she said. "High-low."
"Got it," Alice said with a nod. "So lots of options."
"Exactly," Hannah said. "So let's get to it."
The shop may've been small, but it was chock full of dresses. They were there for at least an hour before they finally were all settled on what they were going to buy. Alice stood in front of the mirror in the dress and stared at her reflection. It was a high-low, asymmetrical dress with long sleeves and floral embroidery all across the torso and arms. She put her hands on her stomach and smoothed down the skirt.
"You look beautiful," Hannah said, her eyes meeting Alice's in the mirror. Jess was at the counter talking to the worker. Alice smiled.
"Thanks," she said. "Don't really feel like myself."
Hannah chuckled. "I didn't either the first time I got to dress like this."
"How long before you got used to it?" she asked.
"I'm still not sure I am," she said. Alice chuckled, then looked at her reflection again. "It suits you though," she added. Alice turned to face her.
"What does?" she asked.
"This life," Hannah said. "You take it all in stride. It's admirable. A lot of people can't handle it."
"How do you?" she asked. "Handle it, I mean."
While she loved talking to Jess, and she knew she once had experience as a mobster's wife, Hannah was in it then. Hannah thought for a moment. "It was hard for a while," she admitted, "mostly because of my job. I was already a councilwoman when I met Castiel. I felt like I was betraying everything I stood for if I was with him."
"But you don't feel that way anymore?"
Hannah shrugged. "I have lines I won't cross for him, and for the most part I just try to stay in the dark with what he does."
"And that works?" Alice asked.
Hannah nodded. "Yeah. We make it work. I decided that who Castiel is was more important to me than what he does for a living."
Alice nodded in understanding, then looked at her reflection one final time. "Yeah," she whispered. "I get that too."
-
Alice and Christine got ready for the party together at Alice's apartment. She told Dean she'd meet him there so that she could ride separately with Christine. Christine was going to the party dressed as a fortune teller. Her make-up and costume were both perfect and very much fit her aesthetic. Alice and Dean were going as Bonnie and Clyde, so Alice pretty much raided every thrift store in a 30 mile radius before she found all the right pieces.
Christine insisted on pregaming a bit before heading to the party, and Alice didn't care one way or another. She was posing as DD for the night, so she didn't need to come up with some bogus reason why she wasn't drinking. Christine was two jager shots in when she was finally ready to go. She was the perfect amount of tipsy to let go of her inhibitions for the start of the party.
When they got to Sam and Jess', it looked like everyone was already there from the amount of cars in the driveway. Alice was really excited. Halloween was a fun holiday, and any excuse to finally introduce Christine to Dean, she was game. She may've been nervous, but more than anything, she was ready. It was high time her boyfriend met her best friend.
Music was playing throughout the house when they walked inside, and Jess had really gone all out with decorations. "Alice!" She turned when she heard Jess' voice, then smiled as the girl jogged over to her. She was wearing black pants, a white button-up, a black bralette, and a jet-black, pixie cut wig. The trickle of fake blood on her nose made it clear that she was Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction. She could only assume Sam was somewhere dressed as Vincent.
"Hey," Alice said, accepting the hug Jess was offering her. "Jess, this is my best friend, Christine."
"It's great to meet you," Christine said. Jess smiled and pulled her in for a hug too.
"You too," she said. "Your costume is great."
"Thanks," Christine said.
"Well, come on in," she said. "Alice, Dean is in the kitchen."
"Duh," she said. "Wherever the drinks are, Dean's not too far away."
The three of them walked through the house, and Alice could see Dean had her back to her -she'd recognize that perky butt anywhere- and she smiled to herself. She snuck up behind him and put her hands over his eyes. "There's no escaping now, Clyde," she said to him. Dean laughed and turned, holding Alice at arm's length.
"Well, don't you look beautiful, Bonnie," he said back. She stood on her tiptoes and placed a kiss to his lips. When they parted, Alice turned and looked at Christine again.
"Christine, this is Dean," she said. "Dean, this is Christine." Dean stuck his hand out to her.
"It's great to meet you," he said. "Alice has told me a lot about you."
"Same here," Christine said, taking his hand and shaking it. When they both dropped their hands, Dean wrapped his arm around Alice's waist. She leaned into him, resting her hand on his stomach.
"Where're Cas and Hannah?" she asked. "And Sam?"
"They're all around here somewhere," Dean said. "Might be playing games in the other room."
"You've got games?" Alice asked Jess.
"Duh," she said. "Grab your drinks, and I'll show you."
They had beer pong going outside on the patio, some people playing cards in the kitchen, and they even had a karaoke machine set up. Bobby and Rufus were singing a very drunken rendition of "The Gambler."
It looked like everyone -save Jack- from Dean's family was there, plus some people that must've worked with Jess and Sam that she didn't recognize. When Alice talked to Claire and Jody, she introduced her to her other adopted daughter-
"Alex?" Christine said with wide eyes.
"Oh my god," Alex said with a laugh. "Hey!"
"You guys know each other?" Jody asked.
"We work at the hospital together," Christine explained. Alice was thrilled that Christine knew -and clearly got along with- someone at the party, because it relieved some of the tension she had, worrying that Christine wouldn't have a good time or would need Alice to babysit her the whole night. Then again, Christine could make fun anywhere. Even if she hadn't known anyone, she would've made a friend eventually.
When Christine met Kevin, things seemed to actually spark between the two of them. Alice didn't know if he was her mister right or her mister right now, but regardless, Christine seemed happy, and that was all she wanted for her friend that night.
The party was a blast. Dean was the master at beer pong, though Alice stopped being his partner when she realized all she did was bring him down. With Sam, the duo was unstoppable. While it was fun to watch them, she did get sick of standing by and being his cheerleader. She walked over to him and placed a kiss to his cheek before he started another round. "I'm gonna go sit and talk to Charlie for a while," she said. "I'll cheer you on from over there."
"Okay," Dean said, flashing her a smile. He kissed her forehead, and she smiled back and headed over to join Charlie and Dorothy on the couch. Dorothy was -ironically- dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Her great-great-grandfather was actually the author of the book. Charlie was dressed as, she assumed, the brainless scarecrow from the tale.
They talked for a while until Sam and Dean challenged Dorothy and Charlie to a round of beer pong. Alice rolled her eyes but waved them away with a laugh. She made her way to the kitchen to get herself another glass of water. Only one other person was in the kitchen, and she didn't recognize him. He was around Sam's age, and he was dressed in a basketball uniform. "Hey," he said with a smile. "You must be the Bonnie to Dean's Clyde."
"Yeah," she said with a laugh. "That'd be me. I'm Alice."
"Jaden," he said. They shook hands, and he picked up a cup. "Can I make you a drink?"
"Nah, I'm DD," she said. "I'm just grabbing some more water."
"Taking one for the team, yeah?" he said.
"Well, someone's gotta do it." He smiled, and she poured herself some more water. "You work with Sam and Jess?" she asked.
"Yeah," he said with a nod, pouring himself some of the punch that was in the bowl. "They're offering me a spot in their firm so I can get out of the biglaw."
"You gonna take it?" she asked.
"Probably," he said. "Pay won't be as good, but I am pretty sick of these corporate jagoffs." She laughed and leaned her back against the counter. "What do you do?" he asked.
"I'm a first grade teacher," she said. "I actually teach Sam and Jess' daughter."
"Lexi?" he said with a smile.
"Mhm," she hummed.
"She's a sweet kid," he replied.
"Yeah," she agreed. "She's great. Most of my kids are."
"Most?"
"Well," she laughed, "not every kid's an angel."
He laughed and nodded. "You got that right." She cocked her head to the side.
"You have any kids?" she asked.
"Not that I know of."
They both laughed, but Alice's was cut short when someone put their hand on her shoulder. She turned and saw Dean. She could tell by the tenseness in his jaw that he was pissed. "Hey, Dean," she said, giving him a smile in an attempt to get him to relax. It didn't work. What was he so angry about?
"Why don't you go make some friends somewhere else?" Dean said to Jaden.
"Dean," she said, furrowing her eyebrows at him.
"Can't you let your girlfriend speak for herself?" Jaden said, raising his eyebrows in slight amusement. "We were having nice conversations before you-"
"I'm only going to say this one more time," Dean said, his voice low. "Walk. Away."
"Dean," she said again, putting her hand on his arm and squeezing it. He ignored her.
"It's alright, Alice," Jaden said with a smile. "You don't have to act like you have a say in your relationship."
Without a beat, Dean punched Jaden in the jaw. "Dean!" Alice shouted. Dean ignored her as he shoved Jaden against the fridge. A few people who were standing around outside heard the commotion and ran into the house. Christine, Kevin, Bobby, and Jody were among them. Christine grabbed Alice's bicep and pulled her away from Dean as Bobby grabbed Dean and pulled him off of Jaden.
A lump grew in Alice's throat as she turned to look at Christine. "I want to leave," she whispered to her. Without question, Christine nodded and put her arm around Alice's waist, and the two of them pushed through the crowd of people and towards the front door.
"Alice, are you okay?" Christine said as they walked towards the car.
"I just want to leave," Alice said again. Christine nodded and hopped in the passenger side while Alice got behind the wheel. As she started the car, her phone started vibrating in her bra. She pulled it out and saw it was Dean, so she hung up and tossed it in the backseat. "Can we go to your house?" she asked.
"Yeah," Christine said. "Yeah, of course."
Most of the drive was quiet with the exception of Alice's phone vibrating continuously on the backseat. Alice could feel tears pooling in her eyes, but she refused to break. "Alice," Christine said. "Can you tell me what happened?" Alice scoffed as a single tear rolled down her cheek.
"He can be so frustrating!" she said. "I was just talking to this guy, and Dean came over and lost it. He's so possessive! I don't understand why he's like that!"
"Did he hit you?" she asked.
"No," she replied quickly. "He would never."
"Then why are we going to my house?" she asked.
"I just don't want to see him," she said. "And I know that he'll come to my house to talk to me." Christine nodded, and the rest of the ride was spent in silence.
-
When Bobby pulled Dean off Jaden, Jody grabbed Jaden and took him into another room. Dean's chest was heaving, and his jaw was still clenched. "What the hell is the matter with you?" Bobby said, giving Dean's shoulders a shake.
That was the thing with Bobby. Dean may've been his boss, but he did help raise the kid, so he was allowed to put him in his place like that.
That didn't mean Dean liked it.
"Get the hell off me!" he shouted, pushing Bobby's chest. He looked past the man, and his shoulders dropped. "Where'd Alice go?"
"Where the hell do you think?" he snapped. "She left, ya idjit."
"And no one stopped her?" he said.
"She's a grown woman, Dean!" Bobby said. "She can do what she wants. It's about time you wake up and realize that before she leaves your ass."
Dean let out a frustrated breath and pushed past Bobby, then ran out to the front of the house. Alice's car was already gone. He called her phone, praying she would pick up. It only rang a few times before she sent him to voicemail. "Dammit!" he shouted. He figured she wouldn't pick up, but he still tried again. And again. And again. When she didn't pick up the final time, he let out a frustrated shout and threw the phone across the yard. He sat on the ground and put his elbows on his knees, hanging his head in frustration.
Fine. If she wasn't going to pick up the phone, he had a car. He'd go right to the source.
He got in his car and drove off to Alice's apartment. It took him about half the time considering how fast he was driving. He wanted to beat her there, and when he arrived, he didn't see her Jeep, so he knew he had. He figured he'd wait in the parking lot for her.
After thirty minutes, he knew she wasn't coming. His next best guess was that she was at Christine's house, but he had no idea where that was. He had plenty of connections that could get him the address -Donna and Jody had legal access to databases, and Charlie could hack them- but he knew none of them would get the information without probable cause, no matter how hard he pushed it. Damn his soldiers for having consciences, and damn himself for not being more of a hardass. Sometimes he wished he was more like Crowley.
Sometimes.
Dean rested his head on his steering wheel and sighed. Alright. How was he going to make this one better? Maybe he needed to give her time and space, like she had given him when he was mad about Lisa. She couldn't be mad at him forever, right?
-
Alice stared at herself in Christine's bathroom mirror as she brushed her hair. Her eyes were blank, and she wasn't really seeing her own reflection. Her hands moved on their own accord as she thought about what happened at the party.
"You don't have to act like you have a say in your relationship."
The anger in Dean's eyes when he punched Jaden had legitimately scared her. She knew Dean could be violent. Hell, practically his entire job revolved around murdering people. She was just sick of him hurting people in her name. How long until he lost control and hurt her too?
The knock at the bathroom door made Alice jump. "You okay in there?" Christine asked. Alice cleared her throat and put the hairbrush down, then opened the door causing Christine to step back.
"I'm fine," Alice told her with a tight smile. "Just tired."
"Do you want to talk-"
"I want to go to bed," she said firmly. Christine pressed her lips into a line and nodded.
"Okay," she whispered.
The girls shared Christine's queen bed, just as they had during every sleepover when they were kids, and Alice pulled the covers over her shoulders. "Goodnight, Alice," Christine whispered.
"Night, Chris," Alice mumbled back.
She turned on her side, facing away from Christine, and allowed some silent tears to fall as she drifted off to sleep.

Commission #2
For @nelwynp. Based off a very very old ficverse from wayyyyyyy back in the day called “Freckles” which may or may not be found on LJ. Makoto/Nephrite.
Commissions are still open!! Check out the details here or all the other commissions currently available here!
Long distance relationships are statistically known to suck, and honestly, I wouldn’t have considered myself the rose-coloured glasses type. The real world doesn’t care that you’ve probably, maybe, already gotten your share of crap thrown at you, starting from the death of your parents, and think maybe it should cut you a break. I knew the chances of Nick and myself making it were slim. He would be busy, surrounded by strangers a whole two states away. Sure, we’d known each other since we were kids, and maybe by now, he had become the one constant in my life-- my North Star, perhaps-- that forever friend who’d seen me at my worst and didn’t care in the least. And maybe--- maybe, finally, I’d finally told him those three words that had been nagging at the back of my subconscious for the last year of our acquaintance. He’d said them back, and it was only then that I realized how much I’d needed to hear and say them.
Still, I saw him off on that cloudy morning with dry eyes and homemade eggs Benedict-- that is to say, that I fed him and double-checked to make sure that he had not misplaced anything important. The apartment that he’d been living in was stripped bare, and all of his worldly goods were in the trailer of the U-haul which would take him to his new home. I was plugging his phone into the car charger in the front console when his arms wrapped around me from behind, and turned me to face him.
Nick has always been a good-looking guy, in that sort of rugged, All-American way, with broad shoulders and a great smile, and I’d learned at some point in our long acquaintance that he gave the best hugs-- the type that lifts you slightly off your feet and makes you feel like some type of dainty damsel even when you’re six feet tall in heeled boots. It’s no different now, and maybe I hung on for a moment too long, myself. He’s not much of a cologne guy, but his sweatshirt smells like laundry soap and I’m pretty sure he’d used my shampoo that morning again, because his hair’s super soft-- and the flowery scent is not nearly as girly on him as it is on me.
“Call me when you get there.” I hope to Hell, of course, that the fact that my voice is muffled against his neck disguises the unsteadiness.
“I’ll call you every day.”
I wouldn’t hold him to it, of course, but I didn’t say anything to that effect, and I watched as he drove off, and then headed off to the gym for a punishing three-mile run on the treadmill followed by a full hour of kickboxing to a playlist of angry girl rock, and if I cried in the shower afterwards, no one needed to know that.
He did call that night, though. And the night after. And the night after that. And soon, it had become a routine, and maybe I should have given him more credit the whole time. Before I knew it, two months had passed, and he flew down for a long holiday weekend, and after we’d christened three separate rooms in my apartment, we got caught up in person. I’d heard so much about his new place and the people he’d met at his new school that I probably could’ve picked his favourite and least favourite professors out of a crowd.
This became a thing, and so for two years, we did the long distance thing. He heard about the awful day when the stand mixer went rogue and how I was still picking bits of cake batter out of my hair two hours later. I heard so much about one particularly persnickety city inspector on a project he worked on that I learned to hate the guy as much as Nick did. Our reunions were sporadic, rapturous and never long enough, though half the time we eschewed actual dates in favour of staying in and just being ourselves together-- watching movies, working out, buying groceries and cooking meals, falling asleep so close together that it was hard to tell where one of us ended and the other one began.
We spent that first Thanksgiving at my place-- Friendsgiving, really, cooking a huge meal in a too-small kitchen, inviting all of our old friends. I shooed Nick and James out of my kitchen and chatted with Raye as she snapped a bowl of green beans for me and sounds of the football game filtered in through the living room. She was a ball of nerves-- James would be meeting her very formidable, very rich, very conservative father when he went over to her home for Christmas. Said father would not be amused to find his only daughter not only dating, but actually fully living in sin with a mouthy city boy-- when Nick had moved out, James and Raye had gotten an apartment together. Amy and Zach had arrived a bit later, because he’d had to pick her up from the hospital where her shift had run over. Kevin and Mina, on the other hand, were at her parents’ house out of state. She’d texted me all types of sad face emojis about how the cranberry sauce had come out of a can and the mashed potatoes had come out of a box, but I had no sympathy. She had parents who cooked for her for Thanksgiving, didn’t she? Besides, if she really cared about food over time spent with them and Kevin, she would have told them that she had Ebola and came over to my place instead.
At any rate, against all the odds, we somehow managed to make it work, and two years, three months and six days after that first time that I told him I loved him, he was on his way down to visit again. I’d gone up to see him get his Master’s degree two months ago and he’d taken me out around the town to celebrate with his friends and classmates. Some of them had met me before, but to those who hadn’t, he introduced me as his girlfriend, and from the easy acceptance, I knew that everyone present had some idea of our history. It had been a wonderful weekend, but I was a bit nervous about seeing him again today. Something had come up, very recently, and I wasn’t sure how he would take it.
At first, I had thought nothing of the symptoms. Fatigue and a bit of nausea doesn’t tend to alarm anyone right off the get-go. Everyone knows restaurant hours are brutal, and as an apprentice chef, any task, no matter how mundane or unpleasant, might get assigned to me on any given day. Certainly, I might get to spend one day arranging delicate edible flowers and a compote of ripe berries around and on top of fancy panna cottas, but the very next, I might be doing nothing but washing dishes and running out garbage. The kitchen I work in specializes in a rotating seasonal menu, and at the time, calamari was in season. Certainly it is delicious deep-fried with casino butter and lemon wedges, sprinkled with sea salt and cracked black pepper, but it’s definitely not as appealing raw, slimy and fishy-smelling. It’s enough to make anyone lose their appetite doing prep early in the morning. But then I was late. And not to work, if you know what I mean. One week stretched into two, then three. The nausea didn’t go away, even when my day consisted of making large quantities of bourbon vanilla buttercream frosting for strawberry white chocolate cakes. It was a week ago that I picked up two different pregnancy tests from Walgreen’s. Both results had come back to tell me what I kind of already knew, deep down, and I was honestly terrified down to the bone.
I had always wanted to have that maybe-stereotypical home and family someday-- the cute house with gingerbread trim and the white picket fence and the garden full of old-fashioned flowers, a husband who loved me and our children and went to baseball games and dance recitals with equal enthusiasm. I wanted to be able to be the mom who baked cupcakes for the bake sale and cookies for the big jar on the kitchen counter, and volunteered to chaperone field trips to the science museum. That had been my own mother, from those distant reaches of old memories, and though I’d lost her, I knew that it was in me to keep her legacy alive.
But I had not intended to do so when I had just started my career, unmarried and still living in a tiny college-campus apartment, with a boyfriend who lives two states away, who might not even want kids. God! That was a discussion we’d never even had.
The door swings open, though, before I could think about it any more. Nick has a key to my place, of course, as I do to his. Sometimes he calls, but sometimes he just arrives, like today, a little ahead of schedule. I’m caught up in one of those long, tight hugs, a warm and familiar hand cupping the back of my neck, and maybe he feels a hint of desperation in my kiss. When he pulls back, his eyes are warm, but full of concern. “Everything okay, Freckles?”
“Ugh. Can you not call me that? We’ve talked about that.” Oh, Gods... A baby with his brown hair and my green eyes. His dimples and my freckles. I can almost picture a little girl, toddling on chubby legs, riding on his shoulders, picking dandelions in the yard and blowing the fluff away in the wind. I’d teach her to bake chocolate chip cookies and read her stories where the princess saved herself and buy her pretty dresses for picture day and sturdy jeans for playing outside in. I loved her already, but she wasn’t supposed to even exist.
“Habit. And you scrunch your nose up when you’re mad, and I shouldn’t like it, but I do.” Nick presses another, shorter kiss to my mouth, then tips up my face. “But you seem a bit out of sorts. What’s wrong?”
“How could you tell if I’m out of sorts or not when you literally just walked in two minutes ago?” It’s an evasion, and I’m sure he can and will spot the bullshit and call me out on it.
“Because I’ve known you since we were kids, and you don’t have to say or do anything for me to know when you’re out of sorts.” Nick pulls me gently over to the love seat, and sits me down, keeping one of my hands in his as though he expects me to bolt at any moment. “Everything’s okay, right? You didn’t have anything particularly horrible at work this week that I recall from our conversations.”
No, this week hadn’t been bad. Breaking down chickens is fairly mindless work once you get the hang of it. And the resulting bone broth is wonderful for someone who finds it difficult to keep food down some days. Nick deserves the truth, of course, and maybe the ripping-off-the-bandaid approach is best. I shut my eyes to his all-too-perceptive, all-too-loving gaze, and set my teeth.
“I’m pregnant.”
His hand tightens on mine and his next inhaled breath is sharp, but I plow on. “I know it’s not expected, and I know we were careful, but… it is what it is. You don’t have to worry, though. I’m not some delicate little miss who’s afraid of raising a child. The executive chef at work loves me, as he should, and I’m sure they’ll work with me when the time comes for maternity leave. And in this day and age, it’s not a big deal to be a single mom. I’m keeping this baby and she’s going to get the best life that I can give her, growing up.” I don’t know why I was so certain I was having a little girl. But she already existed, to me, and at that moment in time, she was probably only the size of my pinkie nail. “She will never doubt, for a moment, that she’s loved.”
“Of course not.” Nick finally speaks, and his voice is an awed, slightly choked-up whisper. I sense him moving, then one big, warm hand rests on my still-flat stomach, followed by the press of his lips. “We’re having a baby. Wow. Okay, so I guess I should get on with what I’d already planned to do, even though I’d planned for this to be a lot more romantic.” Belatedly, I realize that not only has he moved, but he is down on his knees in front of me, one hand on my stomach, the other one digging into a pocket, and then he pulls out a small black velvet box, flicks open the catch.
I’m not much of a jewelry type of girl-- I wear the same earrings, every single day, but working in a kitchen greatly limits the practicality of going around with bracelets and rings and do-dabs. Still, stereotypical though it might be, I’d always wanted that classic diamond solitaire engagement ring from my husband-to-be, and now, when it’s staring me in the face-- princess-cut and set in platinum, I find myself speechless.
“Lita Oakley, love of my life, will you marry me?”
Of course he doesn’t mince words. In a lot of ways, I guess we’re past that point. But I draw my hand back a moment before he can slide that ring on.
“I don’t want you to propose to me because I’m pregnant and you feel obligated. You’d end up regretting it, and that would kill me.” We didn’t live together now, but if we did someday, and then it all went south, and I had to walk into an empty house bereft of his presence and his things and even the way he’d always kick his shoes off any which way by the door rather than make sure they’re put up where no one can trip over them, I knew it would break me in a way that hadn’t been possible since my parents’ deaths.
Nick rolls his eyes, though, and huffs out a breath before digging deeper into that little velvet box, all the way underneath the white satin. He takes out a crinkled paper receipt, and unfolds it, and drops it on my lap. “You are so stubborn. Do you know that? Take a look at that receipt, will you? Just… humour me.”
I do. It’s from some jeweler in his state, and the price of the ring of course makes me wince a little. It’s definitely not cheap. But then I read it a little closer, and see the time stamp on the top. It was purchased at 4:26 PM on the sixth of December, two whole years ago. Perhaps six months after he’d moved away.
“I got it as soon as I could afford it, and I’d been saving up for a while. Probably not very well-thought-out of me, when everything was so up in the air. But I’d always known that we’d be here together, someday, and I’d be asking you to marry me. Anyway, it’s got nothing to do with the fact that you’re pregnant and everything to do with the fact that I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember, and there’s no one else in the world for me, and it’s too late to return this ring, anyway.” He pulls it out of the box, and I see something shining, trailing from it. “I know you can’t really wear rings, working in a kitchen. So I also got a necklace that you can wear this on, if you’ll just say yes. Please say yes.”
“How are we going to do this?” I blurt out, as that other infamous symptom of pregnancy-- emotional hormonal tears-- makes its appearance. I blink and try to sniffle them away, but Nick simply puts the ring on my finger, silvery necklace dangling from it, and gets up to his feet, pulls me gently to mine. “You live so freaking far away.”
“Not anymore I don’t.” He tugs me close, and kisses me again. “My lease is up in a month. I figure I can get another U-haul, and con the guys into helping out. I’m pretty sure that the people can put a good word in for me to get hired in somewhere local-- dumb jock notwithstanding, I worked my ass off these last few years and have the credentials and grades to prove it. Since my lease is up in a month anyway, might as well look for a new place to live. Some place that can be baby-proofed, and definitely not a top floor apartment with a janky elevator like here. Can’t have my pregnant fiancee struggling up five flights of stairs every day.”
He makes it seem so simple, really, as he pulls me in for what promised to be an extended cuddle session.
But maybe-- maybe it would be.

Thea Muldani gave no fucks about Kevin Day when she first arrived at Evermore. Homegirl came to play. She was going to be THE BEST at what she did (isn’t she a backliner? Well, imma pretend that she is). She ain’t got no time to be messing with this little stick if a boy.
When the new crop of Ravens come in Riko and Kevin always meet them. Riko’s always a dick but Kevin tries to be nice the first day and when they’re not on the court. Riko has some business with Tetsuji to attend to so Kevin is alone at the gate when Thea arrives. He hears footsteps coming his way so he closes his history book and stands up to greet the new kid with a brilliant camera smile. He starts to say something only to be shouldered past. Thea Muldani gives no fucks about Kevin Day. He is not a God because of his home or his family, and she won’t treat him as such.
Kevin is pissed. No one has ever ignored him like that. Kevin tells Jean it doesn’t matter because there’s no way she’s any good anyway. Jean watches as Kevin chokes on those words when Thea is finally on the court. His laughter stops abruptly when he sees the starstruck look on Kevin’s face.
“Kevin,” he warned.
“You have to help me, Jean.”
“Yes. Help you snap out of this.”
“No!” Kevin hissed. “Please. You have to help me win her over.” Jean knows this a bad idea, but Kevin is his only friend and he loves him with his whole heart. Jean lets his head rest against the plexiglass and hears Kevin’s whoop of joy. Something in Jean’s heart breaks, but he tries to smile for Kevin.
Every day, Kevin is set to mark Thea. He wonders if it is fate’s cruel hand or Jean whispering in Riko’s ear. It doesn’t matter. Getting past Thea is almost impossible. She isn’t much taller than him, but she’s an absolute unit of a woman. She’s trucked into him so many times that his body is mottled with bruises. Usually, Riko would intervene (he doesn’t quite like sharing his toys), but he seems quite amused by Kevin’s torture. As Kevin limps off the court, Jean jogs past him to clack racquets with Thea. The two clean the court up together most nights. Some days, Kevin will hear her laughter ringing through the stadium. It’s not high and girly like the laughter of the girls he meets at parties, but nothing about Thea really is. She’s all sharp edges and angles, but she’s the most beautiful woman Kevin’s ever seen, be it in her exy gear or one of her ten thousand miniskirts.
It takes him a while but it seems that Jean’s been working his magic. Late one night, Thea shows up at Kevin’s door asking for help with her history paper. Kevin nearly dies on the spot. After the success of the first paper, Thea finds herself spending more and more time with him. By her third year, their study sessions ended up being more kissing than studying, but neither of them seem to mind.
Leaving Evermore was the hardest thing Thea had ever done because it meant leaving Kevin. “It’ll be alright,” she told herself. “He has Jean.” It seems though, that Jean was not enough.
The news of Kevin’s broken arm shatters Thea’ s heart. No call, no text, no nothing. Thea Muldani gave no fucks about Kevin Day when she first arrived at Evermore, but somewhere down the line, he managed to slip past her defenses. She loves that stupid little prick with her whole heart and now he’s run off to the Foxhole Court. All she can do is sit there and watch the mayhem unfold. She tells herself she doesn’t love him anymore. She tells herself she doesn’t care, but that doesn’t stop her from watching his every game and interview. It doesn’t stop her heart from wrenching when he gets thrown against the glass. It doesn’t stop her from rocketing out of her chair at every one of his impossible goals.
Jean’s flight from the Ravens is the final straw. She needs answers and she needs them now. Seeing Kevin again face to face knocks the breath right out of her. Tears well in his eyes at the sight of her. She tries to pry answers out of him, but he refuses. Instead, he insists on going to see Jean. So they do.
On the way there, he tells her some ludicrous stories about Riko and The Master beating him and breaking his arm. It's hard to believe, but why would he lie? Seeing Jean confirms Kevin’s stories. Jean's mottled black and blue, the poor boy. Thea can barely see him through the screen of her tears.
How could she let this happen? How could she not have noticed? She sobs her eyes out, while the two try to comfort her. They insist it's not her fault. No one else noticed either. It doesn't ease the pain in her chest. She clutches the two of them close and demands that they promise to tell her these things in the future. They do, but she isn't entirely convinced. She'll just have to keep a closer eye on them. She trusts that the Foxes will keep them safe, though, so she leaves the next day.
When finals rolls around, Thea storms into Evermore and takes her seat in the South Tower. There's nothing she wants more than to wring Riko's neck, but she knows it'll do no good. Exy is the only thing he cares about. Tonight, Kevin and his foxes will rip the only thing he loves from him. The thought brought a twisted grin to her face. For once, Thea lets herself cheer for her boy with everything she’s got. She screams and jumps up and down. She violently shakes an old teammate of hers crying “Did you see that? That’s my man!” Kevin might not be able to see her, but she throws herself into cheering for him. When the final buzzer sounds on the Foxes win, she races out of the room. Crushing his body up against her own, she tells him how proud she is of him. She grabs Wymack in a bone-crushing hug as well, thanking him for taking care of Kevin. He smiles at a small fierce smile at her. She sees Kevin’s face in his. She’s glad that he’s Kevin’s father. Telling Wymack as much only serves to widen his smile.
In a few years, it will be the same smile Kevin flashes at her as they step onto the Olympic Court together. When he hoists Neil onto his shoulders as they stand together on the podium, it’ll be the smile plastered on every t.v. screen. It'll be the smile Kevin gives his father while giving his speech as Best Man at Wymack and Abby’s wedding and the one he’ll give Amalia when she spews enough history to fill a thousand textbooks. It’ll be the smile he gives her every night before they fall asleep.
Thea Muldani gave no fucks about Kevin Day when she first arrived at Evermore. Homegirl came to play and play she did. Thea Muldani died the best backliner in the history of exy, second only to Kayleigh Day herself. Thea Muldani played two hundred and seventeen games in the span of her eleven-year career. As she breathes her final breath she holds her granddaughter’s hand. Softly, she says, “Looks like I did have time to be messing with that little stick of a boy.” She closes her rheumy eyes and she can see him waiting for her. She feels a smile tug at her lips when she realizes that his cane has been replaced with an exy racquet. He leans heavily on it as he extends a hand towards her.
“Come on, Thea. It’s time to go, love.” Thea takes his scarred hand and lets him lean his head against her shoulder. Together, they take the stairs one slow step at a time.

My top 10 Powerpuff Girls episodes
(PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WAS WRITTEN BACK IN NOVEMBER SO SOME OF THIS IS A LITTLE OUTDATED SO WE’RE NEARLY INTO FEBRUARY...ABOUT TIME I FINISH THIS DAMN REVIEW!) For some reason, @princess-peachie‘s love for PPG made me want to do this too haha! Can you believe that The Powerpuff Girls -one of the greatest Cartoon Network shows- has turned twenty? I know it's a little late but I get such great fond memories watching this as a little kid. The Powerpuff Girls was a spunky, energetic, entertaining, action packed, heartwarming and funny show. I indulged myself into watching this whenever I could and I always looked forward to it. It didn't matter if I saw the same episodes repeated again and again, The Powerpuff Girls would never shy away on putting a smile on my face. I LOVED this cartoon, it’s pretty special to me because it came out on the 18th November 1998 (my 10th birthday), at the time, we didn’t have access to Cartoon Network so I wasn’t aware of this show until early next year. My first glimpse of the Powerpuff Girls was a mention and a brief clip shown of the girls flying and staring at the camera during a line up of Cartoons showing at the time. I actually got curious straight away and had no idea whenever I’d get the time to finally watch it.
Finally one evening after 2 Stupid Dogs finished, The Powerpuff Girls was announced next and this finally gave me a chance to watch it in peace. I was alone in the living room and I quietly sat there like ...well a kid, waiting, I was excited, I would finally get to watch this show after trying to.
Unlike most Cartoon Network shows in which it took me a while to get into such as Ed, Edd n Eddy, I already found myself smiling to myself and even quietly laughing. If I can remember correctly, the first episodes I got to watch fully for the first time were “Fuzzy Logic” and “Tough Love”. I don’t know why but somehow I knew I was really going to enjoy this show more than I’d expect. The Powerpuff Girls isn’t JUST your average typical cutesy show starring three female leads. It has more than that, it had action, it had a great stories, it had great adventure, it had great voice acting, speed, pizzazz and most of all…IT was actually very funny! Craig McCracken had come a long way since making these characters onto a small card he drew, to his own animated shorts to then one of the most iconic and important shows Cartoon Network had ever put onto their channel.
I loved it more for what it produced, I really liked how it pulls your audience in thinking it’s a cutesy girly show with all rainbows and giggles, but really, it’s a cartoon that captivates the audience with it’s humor, voice acting, soundtrack, atmosphere and even the sneaky pop cultural references and of course: adult humor. I would constantly tape the show whenever I could and when it came to those memorable ones, I KNEW I’d enjoy them again after more than one watch. There was something about this show that really appealed to me and sometimes I couldn’t quite lay a finger on it. When I first watched this show, I was glad I had instantly become a fan because this was one of those shows that I got into and enjoyed before anyone else did in the household. I’m glad it wasn’t just a girly girl’s show. I was happy that the main heroes were unique in appearence and seemed all sweet innocent looking kids which do nothing other than fighting crime, play around and act like little kids. I think what grabbed male audience’s attention more were the villains and I can see why. They were all funny, engaging and their use of dialogue and voice acting were terrific. All well done to a tee!
When you’ve got voice talents such as Tom Kane, Jennifer Hale, Cathy Cavadini, EG Daily, Tara Strong, Roger Jackson, Jim Cummings, Tom Kenny, not forgetting the late Chuck McCann and even occasional to major and minor voice appearances from Kevin Michael Richardson, Rob Paulsen, Kath Soucie, Jeff Bennet and even Mark Hamill, WHERE can you go wrong? With a good cartoon, comes a good cast of voice artists.
Craig McCracken put his heart into this show and I am glad to have grown up with this masterpiece. The Powerpuff Girls is no doubt one of my favorite animated shows of all time and I will continue to watch them again and again and never get tired at watching the many episodes that are so dear to my heart. Craig really knew how to create a masterpiece and one that would go onto become a cultural phenomenon. He really knew how to create great characters young, old, male and female, and yet have the main lead cast all female that would appeal to both girls and boys is quite a milestone in cartoon history.
In honor of this series, I will be counting down my top ten greatest Powerpuff Girls episodes. I will however not be including the movie, the Christmas special or the Dance Pantsed Special, also I am only focusing on the original 90s show and not the 2016 reboot. WARNING: Spoilers ahead.
With that being said here are what I consider the greatest episodes.
10 - The Bare Facts This was one of the first episodes I ever got to record onto vhs, I remember so well on Christmas eve and I couldn't wait. I would constantly watch it played back again and again and you can see why.
Most episodes focus on the girls fighting crime and succeeding, but here, all the action is unseen...at first.
Sometimes when sibling characters argue in animation, it can be degrading, unpleasant and makes you want to lose interest in the characters all together, but here, it's done right, to a point where the arguing isn't degrading or stale and actually pretty funny. Also I love how clueless the Mayor is about everything, especially the scene about "the note", this scene always had me laughing as a kid.
Throughout this episode, the setting is all in the Mayor's point of view, complete with various styles of the girls versions of the story on how it all happened, done with an art style shift for each girl. This idea is hilarious and I love how they constantly jump in with different story telling patterns as follows: Blossom tells it mostly focusing on her (all about her, nobody else), complete with a light red tinted scene.
Bubbles tells it in a rather light hearted but adorably accurate way, complete with crayon drawing scenes.
And Buttercup tells it in a rather shadowy olive-green scene, mostly focusing on the action and not the details like Blossom did.
The Mayor however is oblivious to what has happened and is only wondering why the girls were laughing earlier.
I will NOT spoil the ending for this episode for those who haven't seen it, although I really could have done without the narrator's little puns to go with the moment. Again, the episode title just may give you some ideas.
Overall, this episode was great and was even nominated for an emmy with it's brother episode "Bubblevicious".
KEY MOMENT FOR ME: The "pretty clouds" scene. Seriously cracks me up!
9. Just Another Manic Mojo
I can't think of any episode focusing on Mojo Jojo to be as brilliant as this one, sure "Child Fearing" was hilarious, "Monkey See, Doggy Do" is a classic and "Mr Mojo's Rising" is one that shouldn't be ignored. But if I had to pick any of the Mojo Jojo themed episodes, it would be this one. Just imagine, a day in the life of a villain: Waking up miserable, going through so much hell each day and reading the news to such goody-goody acts.
Watching this episode back to back constantly, I never got tired of it and I knew it almost word for word at some point.
The first half of this episode focuses on Mojo getting up, regular routines such as showering, doing his teeth, ceasing the day and readying up for breakfast...until he discovers drama in the kitchen...ONE EGG LEFT! I just love the little ramble he does here, over a single egg, what follows is an ingenious rollercoaster of comedy gold. Whenever Mojo's onscreen, you can't help but laugh, with his hilariously bad Japanese accent and repetitive Speed Racer-esque sentences, you can see why he was a fan favorite.
What follows the events is the girls accidentally having their ball crash through their window and what do they do? They ask for it back (well, better than busting in through the roof and looking for it, eh?).
I would probably give it away if I were to describe what follows afterward, but if you really want a laugh, then this episode is the one for you. Of all the episodes where the girls drive Mojo insane, this has got to be the funniest.
KEY MOMENT FOR ME: Just Mojo Jojo, he's absolutely hilarious in this episode, the girls being a runner-up too for not keeping still. Also one word: "curses".
8. Supper Villain This episode is hilarious on many levels, most of the story is done for laughs and the setup is well...average...averagely brilliant. It's great to hear Kath Soucie on the Powerpuff Girls again (true fans should know that Soucie started off voicing Bubbles in the two pilots via What a Cartoon before Tara stepped in for the role).
The repetitive dialogue is great, played out for laughs and builds up for even more laughs, mixed with great voice acting.
The story? Harold Smith spends his life working at a mustard factory, bored with his life, he longs for something more, with a dark secret. But when his beloved wife Marianne invites the neighbors over for dinner, Harold is vulnerable and finally breaks free and shows his true colors.
His outfit reveal (obviously home made) is enough to make anybody laugh off of your seat. With his newly found identity, Harold reveals his first villainy. From here, we get some hilariously unforgettable gags, and one of the best scenes that eventually became an Internet meme: "Eat your pea, Professor!". No matter how many times I watch it, the dinner scene is just classic. Being a comedic show with guests at dinner, I'm pretty sure you can figure out what happens next.
Key moment for me: "Eat your pea Professor!" No doubt about it.
8. Jewel of the Aisle I'd like to point out here that this episode aired right as Kelloggs released a Powerpuff Girls themed cereal. Sadly it was limited and has since discontinued, so good luck on throwing your pennies onto ebay to grab a box. Now, this episode never really gets talked about enough, maybe because the main villain here is a nameless crook who you never really see again. The story's premise is simple, the girls fail to track down a thief who had just stolen a priceless diamond from the jewelry store. Unable to locate him, they retire for the night, swearing they will meet again. The crook however, hiding in a cereal factory accidentally drops his prize into one of the boxes, which then ends up in the local supermarket.
When the crook fails to find his precious gem, he's down to one box -which ends up in the hands of the Professor. The crook follows him home stealthily only to his horror to find out that Professor Utonium is the father of the Powerpuff Girls. Upon his spying, he notices a commercial (with terrifically shifted fluent animation that almost feels Disney or Warner Bros. esque) and comes up with a cunning plan...dressing up as "Lucky Captain Rabbit King", the cereal's mascot, I'll leave it up to you on what cereal brands they were parodying here.
While these cereals weren't so big here in Europe, heck, I only ever remember eating Lucky Charms in my own youth a lot until they went up in price later on. I still got the reference easily thanks to the internet. This still didn't stop me from getting laugh, gag after gag.
Think of this episode as a Yogi Bear cartoon, but instead of stealing a "pic-a-nic" basket or a pie cooling off on the window sill (or a plate of hog jowls if you're thinking Ren and Stimpy), you've got a box of cereal with a hidden unknown prize not included in most boxes. The comedy in this episode is hilarious, for example, how much cereal did the girls go through and not notice a diamond? Also, the classic usage of oblivion and determination is brilliant, it's like watching classic golden age cartoons of the 40s and 50s again. The crook taking on a role parodying the Trix Rabbit is just so funny to watch, no matter what he does, he is being outsmarted by three adorable kindergartners. I love how the girls just play along with the gag and constantly kick him out,. My favorite part would have to be when the crook disguises himself as a monster outside off the front window complete with a Townsville scenery. YOU know you're going to laugh out loud when an idiot pulls this gag out of his hat and fails to succeed.
On a spoiler's note, I felt a little sorry for the crook when he broke down, forgetting about the jewel and focusing on the cereal, I don't know, maybe it's when Bubbles (who is honestly the sweetest little living being on two legs in cartoons) actually gives in and offers t it to him. While most stories like these do tend to have a happy ending for the determined victim, we don't get that here, which is why this episode works. Again, while I've probably spoiled most of the plot, it's too simple anyway. With that being said, "Ridiculous Lucky Captain Rabbit King, Lucky Captain Rabbit King Nuggets are for the youth!". Okay, I'm actually craving junky cereal now, especially imported from USA! Key moment for me: The comedy in this episode.
7. Telephonies This is another classic episode, the comedy and timing is perfect, the plot is great and gives us a look into the lives of the villains when they are chilling out and not plotting evil schemes. When something is funny, it has to have speed at exactly the right time, otherwise the joke falls flat and loses it's cool, that's if you can pinpoint that in your head and understand where I'm going with this.
When the Gang Green Gang start making crank calls throughout Townsville, they are lacking in great ways to pull them off. So, after calling the Mayor with Grubber impersonating Ms Bellum, making him leave to "cut the ribbon for the new mall, declaring it open", giving them the free run of the Powerpuff Hotline. What we get is a rather "interesting" insight of the villains at home doing their own thing as the girls burst in and constantly beat the living hell out of them, only to learn that they were NOT even committing any crimes. Here, we learn that Mojo Jojo is more sophisticated than you think (yet we see him in Manic Mojo actually buying eggs at the supermarket), he listens to classical music and reads the paper and even takes naps in an armchair. Also, what can be more funnier than the "evilest of all evil" ("Him") working out in complete aerobic equipment? That is just friggin hilarious, I also love how polite he is when the girls break in, but the one that gave me the most laughs out of the villains was Fuzzy Lumpkins. Nobody likes having their privacy invaded, especially when you're taking a relaxing bath, the delivery here from the girls was priceless, especially when Bubbles ended it. I love how the violence and beating up here is played more for laughs and not action itself.
Another thing that still cracks me up in this episode is that these villains are all pretty close friends and even keep in touch by landline, that's right, even down in the depths of hell, HIM has his own phone to make calls. When's the last time you've seen cartoon villains in conversation over a phone? Brilliant!
The ending too is pretty funny and I like how the girls don't believe the Mayor after three cock-ups in one day.
Key moment for me: As I said, Bubbles' delivery to Fuzzy was "tell it like is is funny", BUT the true comedic gem in this episode personally is Professor Utonium. The running gag with him still at the receiver on hold is fantastic. I will forgive the fact that near the end, you see him outside the girls door but I guess that adds to the comedy.
6. The Powerpuff Girls Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever. That's right, that is the actual name of the episode and by god it's a mouthful. Now THIS episode just gets better and better every single time with each watch, whose genius idea was it to create an episode where the girls play pretend? In this case, literally playing The Powerpuff Girls. This includes them playing various roles for other citizens in Townsville and as all kids do when playing together, arguing on who gets to be who?
Honestly, this episode's premise is spectacular. I love how the girls hardly even use superpowers at all, not to mention the unforgettable one liner from Buttercup while playing as a monster. Also, it was nice to actually see the girls here get more comedy than they usually do. For most of the part in the series in general, the comedy is thrown around depending on the characters, story and situation, but here, the girls really do steal the show.
I'm pretty sure a lot of us as kids can relate, with our friends or siblings role-playing as our favourite characters from cartoons, but as each other, that's unique.
PPG Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever is definitely one of the funniest episodes of season 2, so next time you're having a bad day and it's raining, not up for walking the dog, cos it's rai-, okay, enough spoilers. Go watch this one next time you want to see a lead female cast of kindergartners at their funniest.
Key moment for me: The Mayor. You'll have to watch it so not to spoil it.
5. I See A Funny Cartoon In Your Future Seasonal rot is painful, especially cartoons that were so highly well received by critics and fans alike. After the Powerpuff Girls movie, the show followed the upgraded animated style which kind of watered down the true charm of the first four seasons, as well as lacking in great ideas for stories, most of seasons five and six were...mediocre with sour pickles on top. Luckily, this one made me laugh. A hell of a lot!
The entire story is told like episodes of Jay Ward's Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons, complete with cheesy but hilarious and witty puns, fourth wall breaking and running gags. We also have the main one off villain here voiced by the late June Foray (voice of Rocky and Natasha Fatale). I like how she and her goosey sidekick are drawn to mimic the style of Jay Ward's characters and the little commercial near the end of the episode spoofing the Nicotine Patch. It's such a shame this episode wasn't traditionally animated, for I would have really liked to have seen some lush fluid animation to boot up this episode more. Interestingly, I never saw the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons as a kid, since they weren't very big in England, but I got into the franchise when I watched the movie on VHS non-stop and loved it (it's a guilty pleasure haha), so you can see why this episode gave me loads of laughs.
Also note that sadly, June Foray passed away in July 2017, leaving a legacy of cartoon voices behind and fond memories. Since her passing, Mrs Strong herself went on to provide the voice of Rocky for the new Rocky and Bullwinkle series, keeping the spirit alive as always. Good one Tara! Great work. And I mean it! KEY MOMENT FOR ME: The voodoo dolls. Seriously, I quote this a lot haha! Also, just the whole episode being a tribute to Rocky and Bullwinkle.
4. Meet The Beat-Alls Okay, this is definitely getting close to what a WatchMojo list would look like, no? WELL I'm gonna jab this list and have it up before you can say "Ringo Starr's a Powerpuff Girl!", but how can I NOT make a top 10 Powerpuff eps. list and NOT include this episode, and I quote @UmbraMagna, "This episode is absolutely fantastic!", never have truer words been spoken? Telephonies made way with great laughs, but that was more focused on the Gang Green Gang, here this episode focuses on Him, Mojo, Princess Morbucks and Fuzzy in what is probably the funniest Beatles parody I've ever seen.
Craig McCracken himself has always been a huge fan of the Beatles, so when season 3 was ending soon it ended with the sister episode to Moral Decay and you know what? It saved the season finale. Every second, there's a reference to...well, the Beatles. Sure, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" of The Simpsons was fun and had lots of references to the band and other acts, but an entire episode where it's nothing but Beatles second after second, how can you go wrong?
From the Abbey Road walk, to the musical style, to the Yoko Ono reference, to just everything about it, it's one episode that will have you laughing after a Hard Day's Night. EG Daily (voice of Buttercup) has stated during a Comic-Kaze guest panel that this was one of her favorite episodes.
Show creator Craig McCracken himself even listed this episode as one of his top ten favourite episodes of all time. There is one little nitpick, but I guess it doesn't matter, since it still makes way for great comedy and I like how a SINGLE rock actually defeats the girls (back when cartoons weren't very pc, just the way I like'em). Whether you like the Beatles or not, Meet the Beat-Alls is a great episode with the villains at their best. Key moment for me: The whole episode, brilliant!
3. See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey. NOTE: WATCH THIS EPISODE WITH CAUTION! CONTAINS FLASHING IMAGES! I LOVE THIS EPISODE! Remember what I said about seasons five and six suffering from seasonal rot and mediocre episodes? Well, here's one that I probably consider one of the best of them during the Chris Savino era. The entire episode is much longer since the intro is cut short to make way for what comes next. An unbelievable half hour of a pure masterpiece.
For many, being a great voice actor means they have to know how to sing and here, we have a lot of it. It really gave the voice actors' chance to show off their singing voices a great workout and boy, did they nail it right out the park? While it's not the most comedic, it's still epic, fun and unforgettable. This episode was like an evil apocalypse, not even fighting on who gets to defeat the girls or who gets to cause destruction or rob banks. It's a real shame they never released this as a true soundtrack, it's so beautiful.
It's got an Andrew Lloyd Webber and Pink Flloyd's "The Wall" feel to it. I really wish this was the episode's true finale, since it's been debated and rumored to, unfortunately the true finale (not counting the specials) was that of What's the Big Idea, a complete let down, since both McCracken and Savino agreed that the show had run it's course, even though Cartoon Network did ask for a seventh season. If only...sadly, we can't have everything.
The Gnome -the main villain of this episode- was quite interesting, exchanging peace to Townsville for the girls' superpowers, yet making everyone bow down to him. Sadly, this episode was banned from airing in the USA, some say it was because of the message of communism, but the true reason for the ban was for the red and white blinking lights that flashed during the Gnome's spell. It's too bad this was never edited for safety so the US audience could experience it at the time but luckily, it was included in the complete tenth AND twentieth anniversary box set, just proceed with caution, I'm saying this for your own safety. I love the Gnome's setting, in a large rose where he lives in peace, I forgot to mention that he was voiced by the legendary Jess Harnell and boy, was he a perfect choice? Have you ever heard Jess sing OUTSIDE of cartoons? Why don't voice artists get more love? Seriously.
Speaking of which, Tara Strong and EG Daily (who only just recently released a song "Impeachable" (parodying Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful") together for charity) really got to show off their vocal talents here more. Also not to leave her out since I love all three of these amazing talents, Cathy too has a remarkable singing voice! God bless these ladies! In conclusion, See Me, Feel Me Gnomey is a fantastic episode, mixed with action, drama, music and sheer brilliance from start to finish. Key moment for me: The whole episode. I can't pick one moment. I really loved the harmonizing from Strong and Daily during Cavadini's singing solo in "You Wanna Make Us Feel Real Good". Seriously, once these three sing, it just seems unreal, yet magical.
2. The Rowdyruff Boys Okay! I'm pretty sure a lot of fans saw this one coming, I mean it's one of IMDB's highest rated episodes, as well as another one of Craig McCracken's favorites. This episode not only marked the debut of the titled characters of the same name, but was the first of many half hour episodes and of all of them, this one was at it's best. While not the MOST comedic and the boys at the time didn't have as much personality as they did in their later appearances, this episode still left a huge impact on the fans, in a good way. The action in this episode is some of the best I have seen during the McCracken era (something the later episodes lacked), probably along with Stuck Up, Up and Away and Bubblevicious. Tired from constantly being defeated day after day and thrown into jail, Mojo Jojo comes up with the perfect plan to get rid of the girls by creating a trio of kids of his own. Instead of the sweet ingredients for the perfect little girls, Mojo gathers up several ingredients to create the not so perfect little boys. I love how the idea was a reference to the little rhyme "What Are Little Boys/Girls Made of?".
There's some pretty funny but questionable moments, such as...why would the prison serve escargot? I love how the caterer actually smiles in response. Also, why is the Talking Dog suddenly a prison guard? Oh what the hey? It still makes for hilarious gags such as having his tail snatched to finish the ingredients. What I don't get though is Mojo's breath as he flushed the ingredients down the toilet...then again, maybe it was because of when the girls were born causing the chemical reaction to still have an affect which in return passes on to others, in this case, the Rowdyruff Boys. Interestingly, the boys named themselves, while the Professor named his girls. What made this episode great was the voice acting, Roger L Jackson as Mojo yet again was perfect, as well as providing the voice of Butch, Buttercup's counterpart. Cathy, Elizabeth and Tara's energy in this episode were spot on and we even get to hear the legendary Rob Paulsen as Brick and Boomer.
When the two teams meet face to face, they start a huge brawl, the action as I said is amazing, some of the best in any episode, it's like the teams have lept right off the screen.
There is a little problem I have with this episode and...well...it's the whole counterpart vs counterpart thing. I mean...is it really that hard to tell the difference between a little boy and girl with the same hair color? Especially when they use the same chunks of animation for each member fighting against each other, take the cartwheel scene for example. Other than that, the animation in this episode was terrific.
This was also one of the first episodes in which the girls were defeated and nearly for good. But with the Disney-esque tears of life trope, they are revived in seconds. I can forgive this trope here but NOT in Pokemon: The First Movie. Shamed and crestfallen by their defeat, the girls decide to leave Townsville, only to be given a pep talk by Ms Bellum.
And what we get after a little subtle adult joke followed by a defeat from the girls...without the violence, in Sara Bellum's words, "try being nice". I just love how the boys are distracted by the girls as they are standing looking pretty...well, pretty. Pretty as any little girl could be, I laugh my head off every time in this scene, it's both cute and funny, especially with the flirtatious "come hither" eyelashes and sassy “Hey boys!” expressions on the girls that aren't usually seen. You'd expect this kind of thing on a more mature character, one with an hour glass shaped figure and heels. But alas, being kids, the boys can't stand the thought of ...cooties and somehow, this kills them. Literally. No, seriously, they actually die, in a rather humorous way after a long battle with the girls. What makes this scene great is that there's no dialogue, not until the boys scream at the top of their lungs.
I may have spoiled it a little but hey, visualizing it in your head isn't the same as watching it and believe me, it is a really funny scene. Think of it has a "distracted by the sexy" trope but toned down. Also, what I said earlier about the counterpart trope, I'll make this an exception since it was clearly obvious that it was going to happen.
This episode is a fan favorite, unfortunately, it did have a reputation of inspiring fanart and fan-fictions and McCracken himself actually poked fun at this scenario in The City of Clipsville. This episode was not afraid of almost killing off the main characters and three children in fact, but then again, there was so much edge in this show, there was nothing like it at the time. The mix of action, humor and drama is perfect. It's too bad the follow-ups with the boys didn't get the same impact as this one. In conclusion, The Rowdyruff Boys is incredible and really shows that girls are tougher than they look. Take Buttercup's quote "It takes more than a couple of cheap shots to make us cry!". Inspiring.
Key moment for me: The boys' defeat...by cooties. Hilarious. After nearly an entire episode of nothing but non-stop action, violence and a huge brawl in Townsville, we get a comedic flirt scene.
NOW before I finally get to number one, here are some honorable mentions.
Him Riddle Diddle - I love the suspense and how it already started with peril, it felt like some kind of action movie. HIM sets the girls up on a riddle-fest or else the Professor will -in Him's words - pay. I could have had it on this list but...the one bit that bothered me was Buttercup piloting a helicopter...umm...when did she learn to...okay, Uh-Oh Dynamo, they are controlling a large robotic being of themselves but a helicopter? I don't know, maybe it was all done for comedy but yeah, it's still a great episode. What makes this episode great is that it builds up with suspense, from one riddle after another, still filling comedy in the cracks and gaps of course. Also when you have Him as the main villain, he's always coming up with something unique, yet nasty. I won't spoil the ending but it is hilarious, I love the girls' reactions after working their butts off to save their father ONLY to...well see for yourself.
Superfriends - @KarToonComics has already kind of gone on about this episode and I have to agree with her on what she said. I have had lonely problems growing up and found it hard to make friends and socialize. Also, I've personally lost friends due to someone else cutting in the way and excluding me by taking over them and. I don't like to go into it, but we have all had that experience.
The girls meet Robin, their new next door neighbor and befriend her, it's really satisfying to actually see the girls being kids, having fun and playing together for once.
I shut this one off the list though, because...well, some of the later episodes, I can't stand the sharpness in Bubbles' accent, it's noticeable especially in her Ls. It's like she's getting a bit of a Spanish brogue in there (which probably makes sense since she can speak the language), but I just find it really distracting.
Also, while I really liked Robyn, she somewhat looks similar to one of the other kindergartners in school. Watch Stuck Up, Up And Away and see for yourself. Her friendship with the girls was cute, I really like how they all bonded together like all little kids, but of course, being superheroes, the girls didn't always get enough time to meet their new friend, their next door neighbor in fact. That's pretty sad, you can tell the girls themselves could feel it inside them that they wish the hotline would once not ring and they could do their own thing but Townsville seems to have problems every single time.
Robin and the girls walk to school together the following week when a limousine pulls up carrying Princess Morbucks as a passenger. She offers the girls a lift in the car IF they let her be a Powerpuff Girl, the girls' decline the offer (by the way, I love Blossom's expression during Princess's little bribe).
I can't really go on more without totally spoiling the episode so see for yourself what happens from here. It's a great episode, also a BONUS for Robin's hilarious one liner and of course the entire sequence set to the song Signal in the Sky by The Apples in Stereo, damn, why couldn't we have more episodes like that, that'd be just brilliant. I'd have loved to have seen a cameo appearance of Bis, or Dressy Bessy.
Helter Shelter - I don't know why but I wish this episode was longer, then again with a premise as stupid yet funny as this one, it would probably lose the comedy after a while.
Bubbles loves animals, we all know that. In fact, she loves them so much, she has a habit of bringing them in the house.
The following afternoon, Bubbles brings in a baby sperm whale into the house and the results of trying to hide it from the Professor are hilarious. I love the way the girls panic and all the hiding spots aren't very well hidden for a large mammal such as a whale calf.
The dialogue and gags are some of the stupidest yet funniest in any episode, yet they somehow add up nicely. I also love the running gag of the Professor yelling out Bubbles' name, he kind of reminds me of Dave Seville in Alvin and the Chipmunks. .
You'll have to watch the whole episode to find out what happens but I can't say if it will make you laugh or not.
Equal Fights - This was a great episode, in fact I felt it could have been longer, but then it would probably drag on and go nowhere. The girls become sexist to all males after meeting and releasing Femme Fatale, a master thief, bank robber and also bit of a hypocrite.
While Grey Delisle did a fantastic performance with her role here, I felt that Femme Fatale was one of the more forgettable minor villains.
If this were a double length episode, I would have liked to have seen more of a backstory on why she's a misandrist.
Also I felt the character was eye-candy and fan-service material, from her slender figure to her skin-tight outfit. Also, I love how precocious the girls themselves are on a brief history lesson about Susan B. Anthony.
The morals were great but personally, this along with a similar episode Members Only just didn't quite make the cut for me. I did love the references to the Justice League though.
Child Fearing - I love the Mojo Jojo themed episodes, especially where he's with the girls throughout and they make each other's lives a living hell. Unfortunately, some were a fluke and hit and miss while others like Slumbering with the Enemy and this one; Child Fearing are great.
Late for science presentation in a rather clumsy fashion, the Professor hires a babysitter to look after the girls. There's a wonderful reference to a certain N64 game here, I don't want to spoil it in case you may haven't seen it. But it's a great laugh if you know your games. I also love the little smirk the girls give each other when they know they are alone and the Professor forgot to ring for a sitter.
Anyway, the Mayor is too busy to sit for the girls because he's playing video-games, so the girls get an unexpected visit from their arch-enemy Mojo Jojo and the results are pure hilarity, one after the other.
The girls aren't stupid, without a simple huddle or plan, they immediately decide to take advantage of all this and become incredibly obnoxious, mischievous and bratty as any little kid can be. I usually hate obnoxious characters but it's played here perfectly.
It's impossible not to laugh at Mojo here, but also feel sorry for him at the same time. It's a real shame there weren't anymore episodes that had this kind of comedy, because this one is absolutely hilarious from start to finish. Also, the TV scene is absolutely brilliant, the highlight of the episode.
Buttercrush - This was one of the many episodes that immediately got me into the show. Already silently into it that is lol. Anyway, this was an episode I felt went on just too quickly, but if it was extended, it would drag on.
The Gang Green Gang reek havoc at a playground and when the girls show up, the gang's leader Ace throws drops to his knees and does a pathetic routine of guilt. Reluctant, Blossom (being the leader of the girls) agrees, but Buttercup begins developing a crush on Ace, after a tip of his shades, a soft thank you and a wink of charm, Buttercup believes she has just met Mr Right.
Interestingly, Buttercup barely has any dialogue in this episode, heck she only has one or two lines top and tail (if giggling counts). This episode was not afraid to tackle the precocious crush issues, here we have a kindergartner falling for a teenager. It's amazing what the writers got away with in this show.
Buttercup would sneak out every night to visit the gang, I don't know HOW she managed to avoid the Professor checking in on her or anything.
This is one of the few Buttercup themed episodes that was actually good, if not the best one. Although I put it in the honorable mentions because...well...Buttercup's crush didn't last long, in a way it's a good thing otherwise her sisters would have been history, but makes you wonder how much love suddenly poured out of her own heart.
Overall, it's a wonderful episode and deserved a mention.
Cat Man Do - I was SO close to putting this one in the top 10, I saw this episode a lot on Cartoon Network when I was a kid, seriously, they repeated this one again and again yet it never bothered me.
I guess I put it here because...well...the origin of the cat is unknown and who was his master? We never see or hear from him again (minus a brief cameo).
While I haven't found of thought up any theories, that doesn't stop this episode from being a classic. I did feel like the heist scene with the Professor went on a bit too long for a ten minute short. Also, if I were to pick a moment that had me roaring with laughter (not just this episode, but the entire show) every single time, it would be the "We can keep Kitty" scene. The reactions of the girls are priceless and I love how they suddenly lighten up in seconds. Comedy like this in cartoons is rare now, especially with such speed. Also a bonus for the cat himself being voiced by Mark Hamill.
Bought and Scold - Of all the Princess Morbucks themed episodes, this has to be one of the best. Here, she buys all of Townsville and makes crime legal, making the girls' and other citizens' lives miserable. This even leads to everybody's belongings becoming property of the Morbucks household and the villains get to do what they want. Most of all, the Mayor gave the key to the city to Princess, causing her to take over Townsville.
That is until the girls think up a plan to get all they had stolen from them back in a rather hilarious twist. I also love when Morbucks finally snaps and eventually agrees to make crime illegal again, the girls just go off to do what they do best. Seriously, how can you not love the dialogue free scene with the Gangreen Gang, also Blossom's little smug expression when she shows Ace the legal and illegal papers is just brilliant.
As satisfying as it is to see a happy ending again, I can't help but feel bad for Princess here, yeah she's rotten and spoiled but maybe she was raised like that. In fact, you never see or hear of her mother in this show and her father comes off as a bit abusive as seen here with the newspaper, obviously not giving his own daughter a chance to speak. That's why I left it out here.
Super Zeroes - Kids will be kids! Whether they play make believe, go on adventures with their toys or are influenced by cartoons and comics. Which is pretty much what inspires the girls to create their own alter-egos here. Well, sort of.
The girls are sad because they don't feel like "better" superheroes. They don't have an interesting backstory, nor are they dark and tormented, nor do they even have interesting costumes. So they decide create their own alter egos complete with new costumes.
Don't question where or how they got these outfits or maintained the little abilities, I guess that adds to the comedy. I love how when a monster does hit Townsville, the girls go their own way in their own fashion, very slowly and the results are hilarious! I love how Buttercup's alter-ego "Mange" only goes out at night, kind of a not to Batman. I love how Bubbles' alter-ego resembles My Melody and other Sanrio esque characters while Blossom's got a Wonderwoman vibe to it. I can't really give the episode away without spoiling the plot truthfully but I guess the moral is to be yourself and stick up for it. Which is exactly what the girls did at the end. Only a little spoiler. The moment that really makes this episode is the fact that the girls take so long to fight, you'll have to see it for yourself to get the laughs.
Mime for a Change- Season 1 of the Powerpuff Girls was terrific, there were so many memorable and great episodes and one that particularly comes to mind when you think "Craig McCracken" is this one. I used to watch this episode a lot back in the day and loved the concept of it. I'm not too keen on clowns but Rainbow is just the average friendly harmless kind of person who does his job. She he sounds pretty obnoxious and irritating but he doesn't have many speaking roles. His villain alter ego was pretty unique power-wise, but the question I'm pretty sure we're all asking is...was the bleach radioactive? Was there Chemical X in it? Guess we'll never know, but in a way, that's what adds to the charm. Either way, the bleach seeps out not only the color on Rainbow, but his cheerful personality too. His good kind heart and light sense of humor has gone sour and his love for bright colors has switched to black and white.
Upon realizing what he can do, Rainbow or in this case, Mr Mime can now takeover Townsville by draining all the color right out of it. Not only that, but also affecting those cheerful moods of the citizens of Townsville, also they can hardly speak due to the power of mime. It's really clever. We also discover in this episode that Bubbles loves to draw and colour, especially with crayons like most little girls her age. Upon discovering the black and white atmosphere, she goes on a rampage scraping wax of colour with every crayon she has. Seriously, it's like her box of crayons never ends or run out! Ah cartoon logic.
I have to admit, Tara Strong's performance for Bubbles here during her little panic is pure gold, just listen to those vocals! Keep in mind that she was only 25 at the time. Mega talent!
Her sisters soon take action and look for the suspect. When they finally find Mr Mime, they make chase until they are at a dead end and are ambushed by him. Why couldn't the girls just fly away? Bubbles meanwhile, thinking she had proudly saved the day all by herself wonders where her sisters went and when she discovers them depressed, colorless and mute, she sobs but brightens up immediately remembering she had a crayon but to no avail, it doesn't work. Realizing that her crayons aren't magical, Bubbles thinks up the next best thing...of all 90s cliches in cartoons, she and her sisters save the day...with ROCK MUSIC! Yeah, it's cheesy and all but also a beautiful message. A message of love. Love Makes the World go round is one of the few times the girls ever actually did a musical number and oh my god was this one memorable? I wish there was an extended version of it and an official release, but I guess we'd have to make do with the hidden track on the Heroes and Villains CD. Just listen to that chorus. This is the song that Cavadini, Strong and Daily all used to warm up their performances and vocals whenever they were together in the studio.
I put this episode in the honorable mentions because of the ending, it was a bit hypocritical, one minute the girls are singing and putting a smile on everyone's faces, the next thing, they send Rainbow to jail when it wasn't his fault. Of course, he may have been forgiven later on. But who knows? Overall, this was a memorable episode. KEY MOMENT: Seeing the girls hug, it was adorable!
Ice Sore - Blossom discovers that she has a power that her sisters don't have, causing her to show it off. I put it in the honorable mentions because it deserved it, I felt that Ms Keane making all her class go outside in the frying heat to be a bit irresponsible though.
A Made Up Story - Phyliss Diller's performence as the villain was great and the comedy in this one a bit slow but did have some hilarious moments, plus that ending! It feels like what would happen if Stephen King’s Carrie was turned into a comedy.
Tough Love - One of the first episodes I ever saw and caused me to fall in love with the show as so as I watched it. The concept is dark, creepy and yet unique. When I saw those girls get beat up, punched, kicked, beaten up (heck even by adults), I couldn't believe it. I knew this was the cartoon I waited for, all my life.
Bubblevicious - While not a favorite of mine, I still had to put it here in the honorable mentions list, because, well Strong's performance as Bubbles was absolutely brilliant. Hearing her growl that epic drawn out "haaardcoore" was the cherry on top of Bubbles' character and we see a more stronger side to her. Fed up with being treated like a baby, she does things her way, something even Buttercup probably wouldn't do. My problem though was the way she treated the Talking Dog, threatening to hurt him, a bit hypocritical for Bubbles' taste since she loves animals. This episode was Craig McCracken's all time favourite and you can see why it was nominated for an emmy.
Speed Demon - I gave this episode a mention for the creepy-factor and I mean real creepy. Sometimes I don't know if I'm watching a creepypasta or an episode of the Powerpuff Girls. The show is usually full of action, bit of drama but going as low as this is unusual, this was another dark episode. Everyone chanting "your fault" to the girls is like the equivalent "They're all gonna laugh at you" from Carrie. Can you just imagine travelling so fast that you went fifty years into the future? The concept of this episode is both creepy, unsettling and disturbing.
Knock It Off - Again, an episode that isn't often talked about. This double length episode is one of the darkest in my honest opinion. Dick Hardly is one of the nastiest, sadistic and cruelest one time villains I have ever seen. Cloning the girls with a full vile of Chemical X and shipping them all over the world just sounds like yet another creepy pasta.
Also, have you seen how deformed these clones looked? Enough to disturb any audience. The scene where the Professor discovers the base and suddenly freaks out at all the hideous deformed clones is probably how anyone would react if this happened in real life. Also, seeing the girls die onscreen was heart wrenching, of course, if this show ended now, it would have been one sad finale.
Did I forget to mention that Dick Hardly's monster form was just terrifying! Those tentacles on his chest just really seemed off. On the funny side, I love how it’s like the writers were trying to push it on how many times the girls say “Dick”. Also, what was that nerd doing with his PPG doll?
The Boys are Back in Town - The sequel to The Rowdyruff Boys, this half hour romp sees the girls meeting their match for the second time. The girls learn that the boys were brought back to life from HIM and had given them a cootie vaccination, so they are now strong against the girls. I left it off the top ten list because...well, again, the counterpart battle technique just got stale and I found that the boys personality resulted in some rather gross and painfully vulgar scenes. It's like they were trying to compete with Nickelodeon's 90s shows.
Also just a side note and personal opinion: I do prefer the boys' hairdos here. Also the scene where the girls discover the weakness was hilarious. A bonus for Blossom’s cheeky little one liner.
Beat Your Greens - This was a classic episode. I remember watching it a lot as a kid. The moral is simple: eat your vegetables.
This was the time when Craig McCracken was still at high stakes on the show and this was only it's second season. A time when morals weren't always the key of the show. Also Buttercup's brief pep talk/speech to one of the kids was great and really motivating. Also I love the little Star Wars reference.
Curses - I left this one out because this trope has been done before in other shows including Spongebob Squarepants and Arthur. But that doesn't stop the episode from being funny. The villain was hilarious, a literal talking potty-mouth who basically just talks gibberish as if he's swearing and every time the girls swore, it was bleeped out with various sound effects and the results are hilarious. I think the funniest moment was when the girls flipped out on the Mayor all over a pickle jar complete with swearwords and their mouths washed out with soap. Overall, this was a funny episode but sadly, when a trope has been done to death, is there really any high stakes for it to be in a top ten list?
And the number one greatest Powerpuff Girls episode is...
1. The Powerpuff Girls Rule! I am counting this one as an episode! Argument invalid! WHERE do I begin? This was all drawn and animated on Flash and released as the 10th anniversary special and you know what? It's absolutely brilliant. Everything is thrown at you in seconds, the humor, the pacing, unpredictable moments, the voice actors returned again and are just as great and the best part? Craig McCracken came back to write this masterpiece!
Not only was this special a breath of fresh air for the fans, but it felt like a new revival for the Powerpuff Girls done right! Sadly, this was Craig's last involvement with the Powerpuff Girls...when you think about it though, it’s not the same without Craig McCracken as writer and director, so you can see why there are lots more funnies here compared to seasons five and six.
Originally, this was planned to be an hour long but instead was reduced to a full length episode, which is why everyone suffers from motormouth syndrome throughout!
I love all the little callbacks to the classic episodes, including the villains and nearly every second had me laughing with tears streaming down my cheeks! THAT'S the true essence and formula of The Powerpuff Girls. Try watching this special with a straight face if you are a die hard fan of this show, seriously! It's impossible!
Ten years before, the reviews poured in calling this cartoon "gut-bustingly funny", well, this really shows! It's like the show had won back the brilliance when Craig came back and I really wish there was more!
The plot is so ridiculous yet hilarious and I quote the PPG wikia: The key to the world is sent to Townsville, and The Mayor has the responsibility of keeping watch of it. However, he misplaces it, and all the villains of Townsville break free from prison to search for the key, each one of them wanting to obtain it and rule the world, especially Mojo Jojo. The Powerpuff Girls must find the key and return it to The Mayor, before the villains get to it.
Everything about this episode is absolutely fantastic. I will forgive the little reference to a certain 2000s meme thrown in, although it wasn't really needed, but who can complain, right? It was bound to happen since every decade, cartoons tend to have that trend that will blend in with show's plots.
The moment all the motor-mouthed dialogue starts, it's impossible not to sit back with an enormous smile on your face. This was like a true love-letter to everyone who worked on the show, filled with crazy gags and some of the funniest build up on the show, complete with crazy references and everyone filling in on tickling the funny-bone.
The moment Blossom does her impression of Mojo Jojo (COMPLETE with camera angles, close ups and a shot of the entire planet earth) is hilarious! Her sass and smug attitude here just makes it!
I love how cartoony and slapstick this special was, although a little out of character, I don't care, I find it rather hilarious! There's surprise after surprise, after surprise! I've never seen The Powerpuff Girls go beyond the mark of full-on craziness!
I will admit, the motor-mouthing did feel a little forced and rushed but the plot still made up for it with all it's glory! I can't give anymore away without spoiling the entire cartoon so go watch this special when you can!
The Powerpuff Girls Rule! is -in my opinion- the greatest episode of all time. Now ten years old, it makes us all wonder what is in store for the twentieth anniversary. With the reboot having mixed reception and the merchandise still selling, we can only dream on having another special just as fresh and funny as this one.
"Key" moment for me (okay, that pun was lame): The whole episode was filled to the brim with timeless and hilarious moments but if I were to pick one, it would have to be Mojo singing a Jimmy Hart version of Part of Your World. Honestly, the funniest thing ever done on the show, period! Kudos Craig McCracken! You can’t spell slaughter without laughter and this episode did just that almost! A new meaning for the term: gut-bustingly funny!
And with that, ends my top 10 greatest PPG episode list! What are your favorite episodes of all time? Which ones make you laugh the most? I'd love to read and/or hear your opinions! :) With that being said, after twenty years, this show still holds up and I will always enjoy it again and again whenever I have a bad day. If you really want to see every classic episode again, then go buy the complete dvd set, it’s just been re-released as a twentieth anniversary box set! Thanks for reading and thank you to @crackmccraigen for this masterpiece!

“A Risk Worth Taking” - Chapter 6 - Voight/OC Fan Fic
Chapter One
Chapter Two
Chapter Three
Chapter Four
Chapter Five
Chapter Six
When Hank and Layla arrived at Molly’s, they found the rest of Intelligence holding down two tables in the back corner.
Layla squeezed in beside Kim and Hank sat across the table between Adam and Kevin.
“Feeling better?” Kim whispered to Layla. “Yeah, thanks girl.”
Otis came by the table to check on refills. “Oh, hey, Layla. What are you doing with these guys?” He joked.
Layla had met Otis, and all the guys at Firehouse 51, the first day she moved home. A lot of them helped her move boxes and unload her U-Haul, per her brother-in-law’s insistence.
“Hey, Otis! I’m helping these guys celebrate. They caught the bad guy today!”
Antonio interrupted before Otis could respond, “In large part to Layla’s help!”
With that, everyone at the table cheered, causing heads to turn. Layla laughed and waved them off with her hand. “Guys, come on. I hardly did anything.”
Otis, feeling a little like he was on the outside of an inside joke, said, “Well, what can I get you?”
“Um…” Layla considered for a moment. “I’ll have two fingers of Jack, neat.”
Otis nodded and turned to Hank. “For you?”
Layla was whispering something to Kim and didn’t notice Adam and Jay smirking at each other, impressed with her drink choice.
“I’ll have the same.” Hank said, looking across the table at Layla, and liking her more by the minute. Otis noticed him watching her as he asked the rest of the table if they wanted refills. He was met with a loud and unanimous yes.
As Otis headed to the bar to get their drinks, Hailey said, “Layla, you should have seen C.C. cave in interrogation. It was incredible.”
The others laughed, remembering. Jay said, “Yeah, Sarge was in there for like three minutes. I think that’s a new record.”
Adam shook his head, “No, remember that Greg Tauler guy? Boss broke him in less than three.” Everyone nodded, and looked at Hank appreciatively.
“Alright, alright.” Hank said, waving them off.
Herrmann came back with their drinks. “Layla,” he said loudly, “Don’t forget your babysitting tomorrow, so don’t you need to go home like now?” Herrmann asked, looking at his watch and casting a sideways look at Voight.
Layla scoffed, “Chris it’s like 9:00 PM. I promise I will be there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed first thing in the morning.”
“Okay, you better be.” Herrmann said, pointing at Layla before walking away to take care of another table.
As they sipped their drinks, the group settled into comfortable conversation. Layla told them all a little more about herself and in turn, got to know each of them much better. After their second round, the night turned into seeing who could tell the most embarrassing story about someone else at the table - their laughter getting louder and louder until other customers’ heads started turning.
Layla really felt at home among the team. She enjoyed the way they all clearly loved each other. They were a family, and she felt privileged that they’d invited her in so easily.
Glancing at her phone and realizing it was already 11:00 PM, Layla said, “Guys, it has been a blast, but I’ve got to get home if I’m going to babysit the Herrmann monsters tomorrow.”
Layla glanced up at Hank to remind him he had driven her there, but he was already standing and reaching into his pocket for some cash.
Layla hugged Hailey and Kim goodnight, then turned to the table. “Thanks for letting me join you tonight. I guess I’ll see you next week because I never got to finish the software updates.”
“Can’t wait.” Jay said with a smile, obviously flirting, before he took a sip of his beer.
As the rest of the table told her goodnight, she felt Hank’s hand at the small of her back again. As they headed to the door, he guided her through the now over-crowded bar and outside to fresh air.
Once they got outside, they stopped and stood on the sidewalk - the cold air and the quiet a welcome change.
“That was so much fun. I love those guys.” Layla announced, a smile on her face.
Hank laughed, “Yeah, their alright.”
Layla playfully hit Hank on the shoulder. “Oh come on, you know you love them. I think each one of them would take a bullet for you.”
The laughter faded from his face and he said seriously, “I would for them.”
Layla nodded, not doubting him for a second.
The pair slowly started walking towards Hank’s SUV, which was parked around the corner from the bar. Layla talked mostly, thinking out loud as to what the rest of her weekend would hold - fort making, video games and breaking up fights. She hoped she could get a little time with her niece so they could do something ‘girly’ like have a tea party.
Layla was still talking when they rounded the corner of the building and a car backfired loudly. Immediately, Hank pushed her against the wall and covered her body with his, acting as a shield for what they both thought was a gunshot. Layla was breathing hard, panic in her chest, when Hank said a moment later. “Sorry, just a car.”
Neither of them moved. They both stood face to face, breathing heavily, saying nothing.
Layla’s heart was racing, and not because of the panic anymore, it was the feel of his warm body against hers. The smell of his skin, like sandalwood, leather and soap. Before she had time to process what she was doing, she leaned forward and placed her lips on his in a soft kiss.
Parting, the cold and the adrenaline causing her buzz to wear off quickly, she blushed and looked at his chest.
“I’m sorry.”
Hank brought his hand up to her chin and gently lifted her face to look at him. She met his eyes and saw something there that made her stomach do flips. Something she hadn’t seen in a long time - desire.
Hank leaned in and kissed her, his hands sliding around her waist. Layla deepened the kiss and was rewarded with a low, moan that caused a slow burn low in her belly. Her hands found their way to Hank’s neck, the heat from his skin warming her fingers instantly.
The sound of approaching laughter and talking caused them to part suddenly. Hank wiped her lipstick off his lips with the back of his hand and Layla cleared her throat as Antonio and Kevin rounded the corner.
“Hey, I thought you guys were long gone.” Antonio said, his brows furrowed in confusion.
“We are.” Layla said simply, “Goodnight guys.”
Antonio and Kevin looked to Hank out of instinct. He met both their eyes as if he was challenging them to ask another question. They backed off.
“Goodnight.” Kevin said, and the pair watched as Hank and Layla got into the SUV and drove away.
After a few seconds, Antonio turned to Kevin. “Okay, I’m not crazy right. Did we just interrupt something?”
Kevin ran his hand over his mouth, eyes wide in amused disbelief. “Dawg, Layla’s lipstick was smudged as hell.”
Though they had been leaving, Kevin and Antonio turned and headed back inside to tell the group what they’d seen.
---
Hank and Layla rode in silence back to her apartment. When they got there, Hank helped her out and walked her to her door.
Layla had spent the whole ride home thinking of reason after reason that they shouldn’t kiss again. He was her superior. He was older. He had a reputation. But after every reason, she said to herself, “So what?”
Layla put the key in the lock but didn’t turn it. She looked up at Hank, her eyes dark with desire, and unconsciously bit her bottom lip. Hank couldn’t help himself. He took her hand and pulled her close.
“If you want me to stop, just say so.” Hank told her, looking at her face for some kind of indication of how she wanted this to go. He figured she’d been thinking of reasons why it shouldn’t go any further, it wasn’t hard to imagine.
Layla lifted her eyes to his and whispered, “Kiss me.”
Hank kissed her hard this time, both having awoken something in each other that had long been dormant. His hands roamed her body, her little sighs of pleasure driving him crazy. Layla’s hands found their way under his jacket and to his back, pulling him closer against her.
When Layla felt the urge to go for his belt buckle, she forced herself to back up.
“Okay,” she said, breathing heavily, little puffs of condensation appearing in the cold air.
Hank was still looking at her with a dangerous look in his eyes. She wanted to kiss him again but forced herself to take another step back.
“We can’t do this. Not like this.” They’d only technically known each other for a few days.
They both stood there, breathing heavily.
Unexpectedly, guilt washed over Layla at the thought of her husband’s folded flag just on the other side of the wall.
Tears sprang into her eyes as she looked up at Hank and whispered, “I’m not ready. I just need some time.”
Immediately, Hank understood. He pulled Layla to him and hugged her. When he heard her sniffling, he placed a kiss on the top of her head and said, “Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be here.”
They stood like that for a few moments, Layla grateful for his comfort and understanding.
Then, to lighten the mood, Hank said, “Just don’t forget about me when Jay makes a move on you next week. He just can’t help himself when there’s a new girl around Intelligence.”
Layla laughed and snuggled closer against his chest, mumbling, “I won’t.”
Finally, she pulled away and stepped back to look into his eyes.
“Goodnight, Hank.”
Hank watched as she walked inside her apartment and closed the door. He waited to hear the deadbolt click before he let out a huge sigh. It’d been a long time since he’d felt this way, and if she needed to take it slow, he was on board. Because for the first time in a long time, Hank felt like he might have stumbled on something good, something happy, and he wasn’t going to let it go without a fight.

If you frequent the X-Files newsgroup, you know that there are some threads that just won't die. People complain because Scully never drives or because Mulder always drops his gun. Here are the lists of episodes where many of these things occur -- so you can see for yourself whether or not any of these complaints/observations are valid.
Yes, Mulder does shoot people:
Young At Heart End Game (the alien doesn't die - but Mulder still shot him) Our Town Oubliette Grotesque (not a fatal shot) Pusher (not a fatal shot, but nearly so) Home Unruhe Paper Hearts Max (well, he tried to) Redux Monday (although it doesn't "stick") Trevor (not intended as a fatal shot) Field Trip (but it didn't really happen) Hungry Millennium Signs & Wonders (not a fatal shot) (Season 1: 1 / Season 2: 2 / Season 3: 3 / Season 4: 4 / Season 5: 1 / Season 6: 3 / Season 7: 3)
...and Scully shoots people too:
Beyond the Sea Lazarus Anasazi (does shooting Mulder count?) Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose Home (although it doesn't hurt him) Teliko (not a fatal shot) Tempus Fugit (not a fatal shot) Elegy Detour Kitsunegari (not a fatal shot) Bad Blood (according to Mulder) Folie A Deux Milagro - although it goes right through him Millennium Orison Theef Patience (not a fatal shot) Badlaa (fatal or not, you decide?) Mulder seems to be fond of porn
· Jersey Devil - Scully catches Mulder looking at a model in a 'girlie' magazine, which he attempts to cover up by saying she was an abductee.
· Beyond the Sea - Scully tells him "Last time you were that engrossed, it turned out you were reading the Adult Video News"
· Blood - Mulder tells the Lone Gunmen that he must have overlooked their August issue because it arrived on the same day as his issue of "Celebrity Skin".
· One Breath - Can't tell for sure, but what was that tape he was watching when he gets the call that Scully has reappeared?
· Excelsius Dei - Mulder claims that the tape Scully found in the VCR wasn't his, and she replies that she put it back in the drawer with the rest of the tapes that aren't his
· Paper Clip - Mulder tells Frohike that the he will have to wait a little bit longer for Mulder's video collection (implying that Mulder will leave it to him when he dies).
· D.P.O. - Upon finding Darren's copy of Playboy, Mulder comments (at Scully's jibe) that he already has that issue
· Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose - While attempting to find Claude Dukenfield's body, Bruckman casually comments to Mulder that while there are worse ways to go, he can't think of anything less dignified than auto-erotic asphyxiation. Mulder, confused by this turn of topic, asks why Bruckman is telling him this, to which Bruckman quickly replies that it's none of his business and to forget that he mentioned it. While I doubt Mulder will really meet his end this way, I think that Bruckman choosing this way to rattle Mulder is a semi-reference to Mulder's porn-habit.
· Nisei - after asking Scully to watch a video "that came in the mail", she mentions that "it's not your usual brand of entertainment".
· Pusher - after being fitted with the 2-lux video camera, Mulder asks "Think I can get the Playboy Channel?"
· Small Potatoes - Eddie (as the faux Mulder) finds an answering machine message to Mulder from a phone-sex company
· Chinga - Mulder is watching a suspiciously pornographic-sounding tape titled "Alien Probe"
· All Souls - Mulder hurries Scully so he can return to "A Decade of Dirty Delinquents"
· The End - so it isn't porn, but it is rather telling when the mind-reading kid informs Mulder that "You've got a dirty mind"
· Dreamland I - Mulder settles down for a good night's sleep to the soothing sounds of the porn station SIZL
· Dreamland II - Mulder's long-lost bedroom is filled with boxes of files and at least one copy of "PlayPen".
· The UnNatural - Mulder mentiones his "obscenely overdue triple-X bill" during his list of things that baseball makes you forget
· Hollywood A.D. - while talking about ambient sounds we usually tune out, Chuck Burks mentions the sound of "Mulder's porn tapes on pause". (Season 1: 2 / Season 2: 3 / Season 3: 4 / Season 4: 1 / Season 5: 2 / Season 6: 3 / Season 7: 1)
Danny & Chuck Burks Sightings! While not as well-known as the Lone Gunmen, Mulder does have other friends that he calls on to help him out from time-to-time. Mulder's oft-called but never seen friend Danny has helped Mulder and Scully through many-a-case. Here's a look at some of his "appearances"...
· Conduit - Mulder faxes a page of Kevin's ones & zeros to "Danny Bernstein", who agrees to check it out in exchange for tickets to a Redskins game.
· The Erlenmeyer Flask - Mulder calls Danny to run a partial license plate for him.
· The Erlenmeyer Flask - Mulder calls Danny again, this time to track down the address for a telephone number (for Zeus Storage). Note: this marks the only time we get to hear Danny's voice.
· Aubrey - Scully(!) calls Danny (although this time his last name is Valladeo(?)) for help in checking out adoption records.
· Our Town - Mulder had Danny run a search on all missing persons last seen within a 200 mile radius of the town.
· Avatar - Mulder calls on Danny to attempt to identify the face from the airbag.
· WetWired - Mulder has Danny research the calls last made from the faux-doctor's hotel room.
· Leonard Betts - Scully has Danny run Leonard Betts' fingerprints - leading them to his "Albert Tanner" alter ego.
· Christmas Carol - Scully calls on Danny to send her the case files on her sister Melissa.
· Roadrunners - Doggett(!) calls Danny (Season 1: 3 / Season 2: 2 / Season 3: 1 / Season 4: 1 / Season 5: 1 / Season 6: 0 / Season 7: 0 / Season 8: 1)
Another of Mulder's friends, Chuck Burks, is only called in when the case is extremely weird and Chuck's "special talents" are in order.

· Surekill - an Elvis-mention from Doggett, who upon seeing the bullet-ridden room mentions that Elvis used to do that to his hotel rooms

Deaths of recurring characters In this category, recurring characters are those that have appeared in more than one episode -- and two-parters only count as one episode.
Deep Throat in "The Erlenmeyer Flask" Tooms (kinda) in "Tooms" Crew Cut Man in "Red Museum" William Mulder in "Anasazi" Melissa Scully in "Paper Clip" Luis Cardinal in "Apocrypha" Queequeg in "Quagmire" Mr. X in "Herrenvolk" Max Fenig (kinda) in "Tempus Fugit" Agent Pendrell in "Max" Penny Northern in "Memento Mori" Section Chief Blevins in "Redux II" Robert Patrick Modell in "Kitsunegari" Quiet Willy in "The Red and the Black" The Well-Manicured Man in the Movie One of the Elders (George Murdock) in "Two Fathers" Jeffery Spender (?) in "One Son" Cassandra Spender (?) in "One Son" The Syndicate in "One Son" Albert Hosteen in "The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati" Michael Kritschgau in "The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati" Diana Fowley (?) in "The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati" Donnie Pfaster in "Orison" Teena Mulder in "Sein Und Zeit" Cancerman in "Requiem"?????? (although somehow I doubt it) Alien Bounty Hunter in "Without" (one of them, at least) Billy Miles in DeadAlive (even though an alien with his body is still around) Dr. Parenti in Essence Duffy Haskell in Essence Alex Krycek in Existence
--- Honorable mentions --- these characters were dead by the end of their first episodes, but since they keep poping up I suppose they must be considered recurring
Captain William Scully in "Beyond the Sea" (seen again in "One Breath") Emily in "Christmas Carol/Emily" (seen again in "All Souls")
--- Another kind of Honorable mention ---
According to "Closure", Samantha Mulder has really been dead for the entire series, although we've seen her in clones, flashbacks, adult imposters, etc. Thus, although we the "real" Sam was never alive all this time, it just seems criminal to not mention her here somehow. She was "THE" recurring character we all loved to see. (Season 1: 3 / Season 2: 2 / Season 3: 3 / Season 4: 4 / Season 5: 3 / Season 6: 4 / Season 7: 5 / Season 8: 3)

Writer Vince Gilligan somehow references his girlfriend, Holly Rice, in his nearly all of his episodes
· Pusher - The secretary who beats up on Skinner is named Holly.
· Paper Hearts - Mulder finds Roche's old car in Hollyville, Delaware.
· Unusual Suspects - When Suzanne first meets Byers, she tells him her name is Holly (like the sugar -- which also bore the name Holly).
· Bad Blood - Sheriff Hartwell is named for Vince Gilligan's girlfriend, whose middle name is Hartwell.
· Folie a Deux - The agent in charge of the hostage situation is named Agent Rice.
· Drive - The gas station where Mulder hijacks the station wagon is named "Holly's"
· Tithonus - One of Fellig's pseudonyms was "L.H.Rice". This name was an homage to (Lucy) "Holly" Hartwell Rice. One of Fellig's press passes also bore Holly Rice's birthday, April 4th.
· Monday - The Cradock Marine Bank is named for a suburb of Portsmouth, Virginia where Holly grew up, and Holly's mother's maiden name is Bernard (the name of the man who tries to hold-up the bank).
· Hungry - The manager of the fast-food store is named Mr. Rice. Another employee is named Lucy, which is Holly's real first name.
· Millennium - much of the episode takes place in Rice County, Maryland, and the institution where Frank stays is the Hartwell Psychiatric Hospital in Virginia -- Vince's home state (Hartwell is Holly's middle name).
· X-Cops - The police first find Mulder and Scully on Holly Street.
· Je Souhaite - the death of one of the Jinni's former "owners" was on April 4th, which is Holly's birthday.
· John Doe - The American banker laundering money for the cartel was named "Hollis Rice".
· Sunshine Days - The date mentioned on the videotape is April 4th, 1970. Holly's Birthday is April 4th. (Season 1: 0 / Season 2: 0 / Season 3: 1 / Season 4: 1 / Season 5: 3 / Season 6: 3 / Season 7: 4 / Season 8: 0 / Season 9: 2)

The Big Blunders... note: Adding this list kinda breaks my heart. It has been requested by various people down through the seasons, and I've always avoided adding it here -- partially because some blunders are open to interpretation (especially with the now-muddled mythology), but mostly because I like to keep a positive feel to my website, and this one is pretty negative. However, comments made by the powers-that-be during Season 8 made me feel that maybe this list does need to be available for all to see -- maybe those guys need to be reminded that we do indeed keep up with this stuff. I'm not aiming to list every nitpick, just what I consider to be the "big blunders" and inconsistencies between episodes and plot points.
Where Scully's cross necklace came from:
· Original: "Ascension" - given to her on her 15th birthday
· Blunder: "Christmas Carol" - given to her at Christmas
· Attempt at Explanation: maybe she broke one, and was given another?
· Truth: The writers knew that they were messing up the history when they changed the cross-backstory, but thought it was "too good of an opportunity to pass up". I personally wish that they had passed.
How long was Scully missing during her abduction:
· Original: "Duane Barry"/"One Breath" - Abducted in August, returned in November
· Blunder: "Emily" - missing for 4 weeks!
· Attempt at Explanation: Perhaps her file said that she was only missing for 4 weeks because she had 2 months vacation saved up???
Mulder's regression on 6/16/1989:
· Original: "Conduit" - audiotape contains Mulder speaking about being in bed - only able to hear Samantha call his name, he cannot see her
· Blunder: "Closure" - videotape contains Mulder describing the abduction as first seen in "Little Green Men"
· Attempt at Explanation: I was willing to believe that using different regression techniques might provide different answers, and was always willing to believe that the scenes from "Little Green Men" were more accurate than those from "Conduit" - coming from a Mulder who had recovered more of his memories with time than the one on the audiotape from 1989, but "Closure" attempted to "do-over" what had occurred in "Conduit", which I think is sloppy storytelling.
Was Samantha alive:
· Original: "End Game" - bounty hunter tells Mulder she is alive, female clones say that they know so much about her because they know where she is.
· Original: "The Blessing Way" - Bill Mulder's "spirit" tells Mulder that Sam is not dead.
· Original: "Paper Clip" - there is a recent tissue sample in Samantha's file.
· Original: "Two Fathers" - Cassandra tells Mulder that Samantha did not visit Mulder in "Redux II", that the "real" Samantha is with "the aliens".
· Blunder: "Closure" - shows the "ghost" of Samantha, who has been dead since she was 14.
· Attempt at Explanation: I realize that some of these -- particularly the Cassandra & bounty hunter ones, could have easily been them lying or simply not knowing the truth. But the tissue sample in particular was such a cool plot-point at the time -- seems like such a shame to ruin it all by having her be dead all these years.
Dana Scully: the first woman to be pregnant for 12 months
· Original: "Within/Without" - Mulder's rental car receipts from just before he disappeared are dated in May (and Scully discovered she was pregnant right after his disappearance)
· Original: "The Gift" - Skinner states that Mulder has been missing since "last May"
· Blunder: "Redrum" - Date-stamps galore place this episode in December (thus Scully, who conceived in May at the latest, is seven months pregnant and not showing during this episode)
· Blunder: "Medusa" - getting home to watch "Survivor II" is mentioned -- episodes of "Survivor II" started airing in February -- which makes her 9 months pregnant and still not showing in this episode.
· Attempt at Explanation: Alien babies have a 12 month gestation period? All kidding aside, there really is no explanation for this one -- the guys at 1013 just hope we won't notice.

Thanksgiving Dinner
Apple Pie
Demisexual Claire Novak
Summary: Claire finally brings Kevin home for family dinner. But it can't just be any family dinner, no, it has to be Thanksgiving dinner. With her ENTIRE FAMILY present. Oh, and her dads still hate him....

Kevin lounged on Krissy’s bed watching Claire pack for her Thanksgiving trip home. He had offered to help her multiple times, and each time she responded with “You’ll just do it wrong.” So, he resigned himself to thumbing through magazines on her roommate’s unmade bed, skimming the articles and sex tips and sniffing every perfume ad. It was Wednesday, and Claire had just finished her last class before Fall Break.
“You’ll be back here on Monday, right?” he asked.
“Mmhmm…”
“And your folks live less than an hour away, right?”
“Yeah?”
“Then why do you need so many bags?” Kevin asked with a chuckle. So far, Claire had three bags packed and was working on her fourth.
“Well, this one has all my books,” she said as she pointed to the oversized wheeled backpack. “This one has my computer and my camera equipment.” That one was a medium sized hard case with wheels, plastered with stickers. “These other two are for my clothes and, you know, girlie products.”
“Wait, so you’re on vacation and you’re still going to be doing homework?”
“Well, duh.”
“Ok, ok,” Kevin said with a chuckle. “You do you. But you know,” Kevin said brightly, “try to relax a little.”
“Oh yeah, like that’s even possible.” Claire said, rolling her eyes. “What about you? Can you relax? Are you even ready to meet my family tomorrow? I mean, like, my whole family?”
“Yeah, Babe. I’m actually fine. I mean, I already know your grandmother and your aunts, and they love me. So what do I have to worry about?”
Claire rolled her eyes again. “Oh, I don’t know. Only that my dads basically hate you already, and if Jack doesn’t like you, well, then all bets are off. I mean, if my twin can’t stand you , then there’s not anything I can do about it. And then there’s Alex. She hates everyone.” Claire started pacing and her voice got faster and higher pitched the more she talked.
Kevin grabbed her forearms and stopped her pacing in the middle of the room. “Shhh. Chill out. It will be ok. Your siblings will love me. I mean, I am pretty awesome. And I have no doubt Ellen will make sure your dads remain civil during Thanksgiving dinner.”
Claire actually laughed at that. “That’s true. My gramma can be pretty scary when she wants to be.”
About an hour later, Kevin was dropping Claire off in front of her parents’ house. “You and Krissy and Joss will be here on time, tomorrow, right? Don’t be late.”
“I know, I know. High noon. Sharp.” Kevin said with fond exasperation. They had been over this dozens of times already. “Our watches are synchronized and I have my super secret decoder ring.”
“And bring your guitar,” Claire continued. Kevin wasn’t sure if she heard his snark in the midst of her panicking. “Jack will want to play. Dad won’t let him touch his ever since he got jelly on it…” she trailed off, though still mumbling to herself as she pulled her luggage out of the backseat.
“Yes, Claire, I know. Now go, see your family. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Kevin kissed her on the cheek before leaving her, and her bags, in the driveway. Hey, he offered to help, but she’d steadfastly refused.
Claire wrestled her bags to the front door and was just trying to dig her key out of her purse when the door flung open. Jack was standing there with a huge smile on his face.
“Claire! You’re home!” He engulfed her in a big hug, grabbed her bags, and ushered her inside. “Alex! Dads! Claire is home!” He didn’t really need to shout, because they were all gathered in the living room already.
Alex looked up from where she was lounging on the couch. “Hi.” She returned to her phone after that affectionate greeting.
“You’ve been out of class for three hours. What took you so long?” Castiel asked. “I hope you brought your midterm project with you.”
“Geez, Cas. You’re on vacation. Can’t you give ‘Professor Novak’ the day off?” Dean said, smoothing his hand down his husband’s arm and grabbing his elbow, giving him a gentle shake before greeting Claire with a hug. “Welcome home, Kiddo.”
“Hi, Dad.” Claire returned the hug affectionately, their previous fighting long but forgotten.
“Ok, now go upstairs and get cleaned up. We have pies to make.”
“Awesome. Is Gramma coming over tonight?”
“Yeah,” Dean answered. “She’s coming over tonight to help with the cooking. Cas is picking up Sam and Jess and Gabe and Kali at the airport tonight, so Jess and Gabe will also be here to help. Jess said she’sreally excited to learn Mom’s stuffing recipe. Then Grampa, Jo and Charlie will be here tomorrow. I’m assuming your new ‘friend’ will be here then?”
Claire nodded, hearing the finger quotes in her dad’s voice.
“And I assume your therapist is coming too?”
Claire rolled her eyes. “Da-ad. Krissy is not my therapist. But yes, she’s coming and bringing her girlfriend too, remember?”
“Yeah, I remember.”
A couple of hours later, Claire was pressing pie crust into her fifth pie tin, covered in flour up to her elbows, when the door opened and Ellen Harvelle-Singer walked in. “Gramma!” Claire exclaimed, running to give the woman a big, flour coated hug.
“Hey, baby,” Ellen said, smoothing Claire’s wild blond hair.
Dean came out of the kitchen just behind his daughter. “Hey Mom,” he said, wrapping both women in a hug.
Ellen looked at Claire. “Well, didja tell him?”
“Tell me what?” Dean asked.
“Guess not.” Ellen said. Changing the subject, she asked, “So where’s my dreamy son-in-law and my other two grandbabies?”
“Cas and Jack went to pick up the rest of the family at the airport, and Alex is up in her room. She cut herself peeling apples for Claire, and wouldn’t let me help her. She insisted on waiting until you got here. Apparently, you fix cuts better than me,” Dean pouted at his mother.
“Well, then, let me go take care of that,” Ellen said before turning pointedly to Claire.
“While I’m gone, you tell him, got it?” No one defied the matriarch of the family for very long.
“Yes, ma’am,” Claire gulped, and she sheepishly made her way back to the kitchen and forced herself to concentrate extra hard on her pie crust. Dean just stood in front of her with his arms crossed over his chest.
“Well?” he said with a lifted eyebrow.
Never looking up from her pie crust, she said in a single rushed breath, “So, you know that band that played at the Roadhouse, the punk band that did a cover of ‘Stairway to Heaven’ that you hated, and you really don’t like how Gramma hired him as the music manager there, even though he’s really good and the bar’s profits are up, but you just generally really hate that guy for no actual reason?”
Dean stared at his kid for a long moment before simply barking, “Yeah.”
Claire finally looked up from her pie, her blue eyes locking with Dean’s green. “Well, that’s Kevin. My Kevin.”
“Wha-What?” Dean spluttered. “But-but you said he was in band not A band.”
“No, I said he was in a band. And I was ready to bring him home for dinner, until Aunt Jo told me what you said!” Claire stashed her last pie crust in the freezer, slamming the door to emphasize her point.
Dean dropped heavily into a chair at the kitchen table. Now, Claire’s actions made sense. They’d been fighting for months over this very issue. And it was all his fault. He scrubbed a hand over the back of his neck, feeling chagrined. “So, that’s why you haven’t been home for family dinner?”
“Well…..yeah,” Claire said as she started removing the peeled apples from the cinnamon and ginger infused water they were resting in. That was her secret, why she made her family’s signature apple pie better than Dean, and even better than Ellen. She began chopping as she was talking. “I mean, it’s not exactly encouraging to bring your boyfriend home to meet the parents, when you already know the parents hate him.”
“Oh, come on, Claire! You know that’s not what I meant. Just because I hate the way he performed, doesn’t mean I hate him. I don’t even know him.”
“Yeah, well, you’re not exactly the poster boy for easy going paternal figures, particularly if it comes to your beloved Led Zeppelin. Who I still think are overrated anyway.” Claire said sassily as she continued to chop.
“Like you’re any different. Just let someone butcher a Beatles’ song,” Dean retorted lamely. He had a note of pride in his voice he couldn’t conceal.
Claire shrugged, a small smile tugging at her mouth “Well, I am your daughter.”
Dean got up from the kitchen table and moved to one of the bar stools in front of the counter where Claire was chopping. “So, tell me about him. Clearly there must be more to him than the butchering of perfectly good classic rock.”
Claire’s soft smile widened just slightly. “Well, his rendition of ‘Blackbird’ is the best I’ve ever heard.”
Dean looked mildly surprised. “That’s saying a lot.”
“Dad, he’s enormously talented. Just because you’re too old to get his style of music doesn’t make it bad.”
“Your face is old.”
Claire raised an eyebrow at him. “Nice comeback, there, Pops. If my face is old, what does that make your face?”
“Shut up,” Dean retorted with a smile of his own. “So, go on, tell me more.”
“You literally just told me to shut up.”
“You know what I mean.”
Claire stuck her tongue out at him, but continued talking. “Kevin is really great. He plays six instruments.” Dean made a “huh” face at that. “He has a degree in music theory from Princeton. Did you know that because of his help, the Roadhouse has become one of the top college bars in the city?”
“Please, your grams and Jo could have done that.”
“No, Dad. Kevin is the one who hooked them up with the up and coming bands in the area. There’s more to music than just cover bands for mullet rock, you know.”
“Hey, I like those bands. And they don’t all have mullets.”
“Yes, but you’re not a twenty something college student with miles of disposable income,” Claire said cheekily. “Your bands still play there; just other bands play there too. Gramma put him in charge of this summer’s Battle of the Bands. It will be epic.”
“You know, I don’t know how I feel about my kid sister meeting your boyfriend before me.”
“Hey, it’s not like that was planned. They didn’t even know we were dating when they hired him. It was only after he and Jo got to talking and that’s how she found out. Then she called me and told me what you said about him.” Claire dropped her eyes back to the cutting board. She’d been making this pie for so many years that the chopping came naturally to her and she hardly had to watch what she was doing, but she found she couldn’t look into her dad’s eyes anymore.
Dean reached across the count and stilled her hands. “Hey, hey, Claire-bear, I’m sorry I said that. Well, I’m sorry I said it like that. If I had known he was important to you…well, I was drunk so I probably still would have said it.”
“Wow, Dad, you suck at apologizing.” Claire smiled weakly.
“Well, I’m sorry, but your boyfriend’s music does suck.” She glared at him. “To me,” he added. “But I won’t let that affect my judgement of him as a person. But if he turns out to be an asshole and he hurts you, I’ll just beat him up extra hard.”
“He’s got a black belt in three martial arts, Dad, I doubt you could take him.”
Dean took her hands and looked her in the eye. “Seriously, though, Claire, what kind of guy is he? He’s not pressuring you into anything, right?” That was a problem in her last relationship. Her ex-girlfriend’s addictive personality lead to her wanting to do things that Claire was uncomfortable with.
“Dad, he’s a really, really great guy. He knows and respects my limits, sometimes even better than I do.” Claire blushed and ducked her head down. “He, well, um, Kevin, he might be the one, Dad.” Dean’s eyes lit up with happiness. But before he could say anything, Claire added, “But don’t you dare start planning a wedding. We are nowhere near that yet!” His face fell comically fast.
Just then, Ellen and Alex emerged from upstairs. “Well, I got her all patched up, and she’s graciously decided to socialize with the rest of her family,” Ellen said as they came into the kitchen.
“Well, I wouldn’t say I decided so much as she’s making me,” Alex grumped. Ellen smacked the back of her head. “Ow!”
“Hey, it’s not like we’re asking you help with cooking in any way. Just keep us company. It’s not like you see me or your sister every day,” Ellen scolded her.
“Yeah, please don’t help us cook,” Claire teased as she tossed her apples into the skillet. She then turned to her grandmother. “Before you ask, yes, I told him.”
Ellen turned to Dean, “And you’ll be on your best behavior and give this boy a chance, right, son?”
“Yeah, Mom. He sounds like a good kid,” Dean said.
“Hey, he really is a good kid. Even your pop likes him, despite his weird hair.” Ellen said.
“Well, if Dad likes him, then I guess he must be ok.” Dean agreed. Bobby Singer pretty much hated everyone who wasn’t family, and sometimes he didn’t like them much either.
They didn’t have a chance to discuss it further, because just then the front door swung open and the rest of the family came piling in. Gabriel and Jessica were already arguing over who cooked what better, Cas and Kali were having a heated discussion about politics, and Sam was telling Jack something no one but them could hear, Jack hanging on his favorite uncle’s every word.
The Winchester-Novak-Harvelle-Singer Thanksgiving was certainly going to be interesting this year. But there was at least one thing Claire could definitely count on: Every single one of her apple pies would be devoured before the end of the day. The rest, as usual, would be a toss-up with her large and unpredictable family.
Poor Kevin.
