The Jim Henson Hour (1989)
I'm looking forward to seeing more behind the scenes Muppet footage in the new Jim Henson Idea Man documentary, which debuts today on Disney+! Who else will be watching it this weekend?

Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
Muppet Treasure Island has no cause for concern with flashing lights.
There are brief moments where the camera simulates the rocking of a boat on the ocean. One sequence briefly stretches images in a delirious way. Several scenes are filmed with the camera tilted slightly sideways, which may be mildly disorienting. A late scene involves peril at extreme heights.
Flashing Lights: 0/10. Motion Sickness: 4/10.

Movies watched in 2024
Labyrinth (1986, UK/USA)
Director: Jim Henson
Writer: Terry Jones (based on a story by Dennis Lee & Jim Henson)
Mini-review:
As a big fan of Jim Henson's work (the Dark Crystal universe, most specifically), this film has been on top of my watchlist for quite a while, and it was already time I made an effort to look it up and watch it. And man, I will never stop being amazed by Henson's incredible genius. I spent the whole film in awe of the sets, the costumes and, of course, the puppets. Pretty much every shot is pure art. And I was also surprised by how funny the script gets at times, too. I did feel like the story tended to meander a bit too much, but the visuals and puppetry were stunning enough to keep me interested until the very end. Anyway, I can understand why Labyrinth has developed such a big cult following.

"“Richard loved opera and partying,” said Clash, “and he often came in with a hangover. With an aching head, he would give away parts to the young puppeteers, literally throwing them at us. Richard saved his energy for the hipper, more established characters, and he just hated doing Elmo. Norman Stiles, our head writer, would say in disgust, “What is Richard doing with that character?”
Legend has it that Hunt entered the Muppet greenroom one day, holding Elmo upside down by his rod, as if he were carrying a dead buzzard by its claw. “I was the only puppeteer there,” Clash recalled. “Richard said, ‘You know what? Have you got a voice for this?’ ” With that, Hunt sent Elmo flying across the room."
Elmo as twice orphaned (Brian Muehl turned him from anything muppet to the proto version of elmo n once he left gave Elmo to Hunt) is pretty funny n i heard different descriptions abt it already but this is the best bc it explains tht he didnt want to do cute characters n it showed. And also lets us know that at least one person on staff didn't like his halfhearted pass at him

✊🏾 “If everybody else your age is doing something very different than what you're doing, there's always going to be someone saying to you you might not succeed with it, you might not make any money with that... there's always going to be some type of obstacle in the way. All of those things will go away if you really focus on what makes you happy.” ~ Kevin Clash

All the negative reviews were ALL WRONG. It being a box office bomb was so unfair to the movie.
And even Melissa McCarthy was really fucking good. I've seen a lot terrible unwatchable movies and this wasn't that!
I suggest it if you haven't seen it to see it. This movie deserves to become a cult hit.
I hope BRIAN HENSON can make more R rated puppet movies in the future.🤞
