Kererū like to sit in the sun for long periods of time, which causes fruit to ferment in their crop and turn into alcohol. They can get so drunk from this that they fall out of trees. This might seem funny, but they can injure themselves or become vulnerable to predators like cats or dogs.

Im very normal abt kokako theyre just little guys and I love them. Haast eagles are great as well. Big bird but sadly extinct :[

Im ALSO a massive fan of keruru, which me and my friend nicknamed singlet birds bc smth smth looked like they were wearing one. They can get drunk on berries and they do. Its very silly I love them

Harpy eagles are also great and give me any bird of paradise and Im happy, but twelve wire are so so silly. Just. Guys holy god

Yellow eyed penguins are so pretty oh my god and im also obsessed with bearded vultures bc 1. Theyre pretty and 2. They crack bones open via dropping them on rocks and then eat them. There isnt a better bird we peaked at bearded vultures/j

BLEEDING HEART DOVES ARE SO PERFECT I once saw someone describe the types as one looks like they killed someone and the other looks like they got killed and yea. Literally them ngl. I love them theyre so perfect

Disappointed not to see a Keruru (NZ Wood Pigeon). Their claim to fame is they tend to get riproaring drunk on fermented berries and then try to fly.
