Actually, if I recall correctly, Kenny Chesney was opposed to even singing the song! Even if that's wrong (which it probably is, I'm not that smart), the song is very different from most of his other works.

Oh! and it wasn't written by him, it was written by Jim Collins, known for writing Gretchen Wilson's "I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today" which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Song, and Paul Overstreet, who has written many number one hits for artists such as Randy Travis ("On the Other Hand," "Digging Up Bones," "Forever and Ever, Amen," Deeper Than the Holler") and Tanya Tucker ("I Won't Take Less Than Your Love").
