they may have been doomed from the start, but Kira deserved tenderness and understanding. And I’ll die on that hill that she received it

My job has this racist ass rule where we can’t listen to rap music or any r&b to the point they literally have a radio that skips over the black radio stations. Like it’s so annoying how this is allowed. They’ll let the racist country music station on that played Try That In a Small Town every hour for “solidarity” for the singer play but god forbid I want to listen to the r&b and soul station. But i started turning the radio off when my boss leaves and using my speaker to play music from my Spotify “chill” playlist and it’s frustrating because the customers like it and I’ve already gotten talked to by my boss about it for playing “explicit” music because apparently Bill Withers, Thundercat and Frank Ocean are explicit but we can listen to Wrong Way by Sublime and Closer by NIN and even fucking Eminem but as soon as it’s made by a black person it’s a problem. Like why the fuck is Without Me and Real Slim Shady and My Name is “acceptable workplace music” but I can’t listen to Nights by Frank Ocean ? Why can Closer by NIN be played (something that really pisses me off) but I can’t listen to Grandma’s Hands by Bill Withers ?

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long
Anytime she's goes away
Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away
Bill Withers
