lesson 16 spoilers, thinkin about heavy angst potential for mc

this isn't actually very coherent but i wanted to record it somewhere - if this turns into a proper thing and you saw this, no you didn't

big big content warning/trigger warning for the, uh, incident that happens - death, blood, dead people, etc, it's a bit visceral but it's not too bad i think

like... mc arriving at the entrance hall after barbatos sends them through the door and seeing their own body on the floor at the bottom of the stairs

watching the brothers arrive, totally numb to whatever they're saying, just morbidly transfixed with the sight of the blood spreading lazily across the floor, soaking into their uniform

seeing mammon zero in on their body and instinctually being filled with fear, because they think for a horrible moment that he's going to hurt them more

tearing across the hall, heart in their throat, not hearing the brothers' shock that they've just appeared in front of them - pushing a stunned mammon out of the way to protect their own body

shaking, brushing the bloody hair out of their own face, gathering their own broken body in their arms, feeling their own chest quake and spasm as they cling to life, slipping away faster and faster

vaguely seeing beel and lucifer holding a snarling, screaming belphegor back, but not really seeing anything but their own face, blinking lethargically and contorting in pain beneath them

kissing their double's forehead, shushing them gently, determined to let them go gently, to spare them as much pain as possible, to give them dignity in this death they didn't deserve - because they're you, and you owe it to them to be kind, to take care of them as they disappear

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

If you’ve been outside on this very cold Sunday --installing Christmas lights in the front garden, perhaps-- then, you’ll need a hot beverage to warm your numb fingers and chilled bones. Not only is this Gingerbread Hot Chocolate, inspired by a recipe I saw on the BBC Good Food website, wonderfully warming and deliciously spiced; it also keeps in with the festive spirit! Happy Sunday!

Ingredients (serves 2):

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

2 whole cloves

2 heaped teaspoons demerara sugar

1 teaspoon Homemade Vanilla Extract

1/2 cup double cream

2 cups semi-skimmed milk

90 grams/3 ounces good quality dark chocolate (at least 65% cocoa solids)

1/2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup double cream

1/2 teaspoon Icing Sugar

1 Gingerbread Biscuit

In a large saucepan, combine ground cinnamon, ground ginger, whole cloves and demerara sugar. Give a good stir, and add Vanilla Extract. Stir in double cream and milk. Heat on the stove, over medium heat until simmering. 

Remove from the heat and allow to infuse, 10 minutes. 

Then, return over a medium flame, and bring to a slow boil.

Meanwhile, break dark chocolate into a medium bowl, and sift in cocoa powder.

Once the spiced milk and cream mixture is just boiling, pour over the chocolate and cocoa. Cover with a lid, and set a side, for a couple of minutes.

Then, remove the lid, and whisk energetically until well-blended and smooth. Pour spiced hot chocolate back into the saucepan, and heat, over a low flame.

In the meantime, whisk double cream energetically until soft peaks form. Add Icing Sugar, and continue whisking until stiff peaks just form. 

Pour spiced hot chocolate into two large mugs. Top with whipped cream, and crumble Gingerbread Biscuit on top.

Enjoy Gingerbread Hot Chocolate immediately!
