Upsetting a Deity (You Probably Haven't!)

Upsetting a Deity A lot goes around about upsetting a deity, but the chances are you haven’t! Deities won’t be upset about little mistakes or being unable to pray because you’re having a flare-up. They understand and they care. Most likely, they would want you to be well and safe. It would take a LOT for a deity to be upset in a significant way.

Upsetting a Deity example In Hellenism, you must be clean before offering or communicating with a deity. We should all research thoroughly, but sometimes things are missed, so not washing your hands before offering food may not be looked upon favourably. However, you can learn from this and embed it into future practice. Apologise for the mistake and move on, dwelling will only make things harder for you and your relationship with the deity.

What if I didn’t give them an offering today? That’s okay. Give your deity an offering when you next can. You don’t have to give offerings daily, or on any set timescale. If you can’t do offerings at all, that’s fine too. There is no must for offerings!

What if I just realised my old actions were disrespectful? Then you’re learning and that’s great. Let’s remember that deities aren’t human, their stances wouldn’t be like ours. Apologise for your past mistakes and move forward. If you’d like to build a relationship with that deity, begin doing so with your new found knowledge on being as respectful as you can be.

But I made a promise that I couldn’t fulfil? Try avoiding making promises you can’t keep, especially specific promises. Try making a loose promise, so rather than a set time for a specific offering, promise to do it when you next get the chance. Deities understand that things change. As long as you intend to fulfil your promise at the time you make it, they know your intention was there. If it didn’t happen, do it when you next can.

But I feel bad anyway, how can I fix things? If you feel bad or would just like to do something to make it up to the deity, do what you would normally do. Apologise, honour them, provide an offering, and share how you have learnt from the experience. A small mistake or getting something wrong will not have an everlasting impact on you.

The deity isn’t responding properly to me anymore! Are you communicating with a clear mind? Your emotions and mindset impact how you communicate and may be overriding the responses or even how you interpret them. Take a break, realise you can apologise and move on, and relax. When you’re in a calmer mindset, try again.

What if they don’t want me to worship/work with them anymore? How do you know this? Deities are deities, they want to be worshipped. I can assure you, the chances are you haven’t done anything bad enough to where a deity no longer wants you to worship/work with them. Like before, take a break, apologise, relax, and move on. Communicate about topics when you’re in the right mindset to do so.

So I can do anything and the deities won’t be upset? No. Like before, deities are deities. They are divine. They see your intentions, they know when you’re being truthful, respectful, and honest. Don’t try to fool them or purposefully disrespect them, you will not be granted their favour by doing this. Likewise, do try avoid making promises, oaths, and similar, that you know there’s a chance you might not be able to keep.

the deity that made their presence known for pile one is the greek goddess selene! she made herself known with the moon card. selene is the greek personification of the moon. she is typically worshipped during the full moon and new moon but she can be called upon whenever you need her energy. she sees everything that goes on in the night and she travels across the sky in her chariot every night, pulling the moon behind her.

she may be helpful in your healing process if you have emotional wounds that still haven’t healed. she can be somewhat cold at times but that’s because people don’t truly understand her and her experiences. she can help you tap into your unconscious and become aware of the tools you need in order to heal. she also brings forth our shadow self, making us face those parts of ourself that we tend to shy away from. her main goal usually lies within the realm of having us let go of the things we truly have no control over. letting go of those things we cling so hard to gives us the freedom to heal and be happy with who we are and what we have.

the deity that made their presence known for pile two is the egyptian goddess isis! she chose to make herself known through the temperance card. isis is the goddess of a multitude of things, including but not limited to healing, magic, fertility, and even motherhood. she is a goddess who is fiercely protective over her worshippers and even those who just casually work with her from time to time. she provides a very nurturing environment and makes you feel safe and warm inside.

she can help us hone in on our intuition and help give us the guidance we need to feel comfortable enough to share our intuitive gifts with others. she is also helpful when it comes to making decisions that might be difficult for us to fully comprehend, thus giving us the clarity we need to make the best decision for everyone involved. since she has that motherly spirit about her, she’s also strict when she needs to be. if she catches you procrastinating or losing motivation, she will put you in your place. she allows us to get into the habit of practicing moderation. she is very upfront about not wanting to deal with extreme behaviors or personalities, she wants to promote balance in any way that she can.

the final deity that made their presence known is the norse god odin. he chose to make himself known through the magician card. now odin, just like isis and selene, has so many different facets about him but i’m going to try to limit myself for this collective reading. odin is the all father in norse mythology, he is the god of war and death, but also poetry and magic, hence him coming through as the magician!

odin is a great deity to reach out to do just about anything, but my experiences with him have to do with finding my own inner strengths and knowing when to reach out to others. i know that everyone’s experience is going to be different but those are just a few things he helped me with. moving forward, he can help us see what we aren’t seeing, he sees all and isn’t afraid to show us what we need to see. he can also help with learning to trust your own abilities and not having to rely too much on what other people think about. he can help us feel like we are truly capable and competent when it comes to knowing what steps we need to take to get to where we want to go. he also has a more parental aura about him like isis due to him being the all father. his wisdom and skills are very strong aspects of his and they tend to rub off on the people he works with.

In the background there’s two towers standing together amongst the luscious green hills but these aren’t just no ordinary towers, no these towers are actually Djed Pillars which the Djed pillar is a key symbol of Ausar as he’s the mighty neter that represents not only just agriculture but he’s also represents the higher self of man & is the great judge who decides if the soul of an individual returns back to Atum’s essence in Aarupet. Being born under this elemental aspect of the Divine Masculine is a challenging journey just like the other aspects, this aspect in particular challenges men to be able to problem solve while also acknowledging that they won’t have the answers to everything they’ll endure in life. Secret Magical Gift Swap 2024/2025 - Sign-Ups Open! 🔮🌿🍄

Hi everyone! ✨

After a break of 6 years, the Secret Magical Gift Swap is back!

The aim of the swap is to create friendships within the pagan/witchcraft/heathenry/other spiritual community and spread the gift of giving through a postal Secret Santa style event where you send a gift and receive one in return. It's tailored to witches, pagans, heathens, non-religious and religious people alike, Kemetics, Hellenics, polytheists of all sorts, those interested in nature paths, those that follow folk religions, astrologers and others on a path of alternative practice or magic.

In the past this was an annual event but we are now back with a plan to keep the Swaps going a few times a year, more than likely quarterly, with one for every season.

To start this new chapter off, I decided to create the first Swap now, around the very season of giving. However, with the way the financial situation is around the world right now and many post offices being closed for the end of December and start of January, this first Swap will go on from now until the end of January, with a short break in February before we jump into the second Secret Magical Gift Swap!
