Magical witch Keloid. Struggled a little with her cause her doppel is mostly just head and arms so what do you do with the rest?? I was inspired by Shi’s nightmare drawings to fill in the rest. I definitely feel like she’d be fleshed out more with her textures.

I think people who add scars to character designs just to 'make them more interesting' need to stop being absolute cowards when it comes to keloids or actually realistic burns

Having the gene for fucked up and evil scar tissue sucks btw because if you ever want to have surgery for any reason doctors will be extra hesitant to do it because "ohhh but it'll leave such a big ugly nasty keloid!!!" like I KNOWWW i don't CAAREEE get this fucking thing out of my LEGGGG

i love when physical trauma actually fucks with the character's appearance. i don't want clean flat scars. i want keloids. i want poorly healed, repeatedly infected wounds. i want to see their teeth through the rip in their cheek.

So how do people react to Heartstar’s fancy new scar?

Scars are suuuuper attractive in Clan society, and keloids are one of the best ones to have for a few reasons;

They 'shine' in the light, things that shimmer are unanimously considered somewhat holy

They're brightly colored. I like to stylize them by making them neon like I do to all skin (noses, pawpads) but even just as is, they're dark red and stand out from surrounding skin

They grow past the initial point of injury, unlike other scars which fade over time.

So Heartstar returning from actual death with one of the most special kinds of scars you can get? Incredible. Truly a sign that StarClan has performed a miracle and chosen a new leader for ShadowClan.

BY THE WAY; this is another case of me bending cat biology for something I want to see more of. Keloid scars are only found in humans as a quirk of our skin adaptations, and are very rarely seen in media (and especially not as something cool.) I want to see more scar positivity so I'm doing it myself!
