Gonna use some Air Cadet exp rn,,, but I don't think ppl realise how seriously cadets of any sort take uniform. That being said, sometimes you just HATE certain jobs. With this in mind, Lance being convinced Keith paints his boots because there is NO WAY you can polish them that shiny???? And when he confronts him they agree to a trade off where Keith will polish Lance's boots IF Lance does all of Keith's ironing bc Keith hates ironing. Obvs it turns into a competition in who can make the other look better
KFJSKDK LOVE THIS.... just think about all the married couple bickering that would ensue. imagine lance and keith in the middle of class like
keith: can you not iron properly? this is like the third time ive found creases where they shouldn't be
lance: excuse me? are you insulting my workmanship? you wanna do your own ironing, fuckin lazy ass
keith: well sorry, i guess i won't be stopping by your room for your shoes, then
lance: fuck you, i'll be at your room because you're always late, so see you there, asshole. btw hunk's mum sent cookies, want me to bring some
everyone else: 👁️👄👁️

klance! (don't kill me)
They’re literally an OTP of mine kladsjf u know this Leesh you’re just giving me an excuse to brainrot
When or if I started shipping it: Probably around late February or early March 2017? I know I watched VLD early February 2017 and I started shipping them pretty soon after anyways.
My thoughts: I don’t think I’ll ever get over how much chemistry they have like holy shit. They bicker like an old married couple, accidentally form a rivalry that serves to push each other for the better, and even if they don’t know it, they both mutually respect each other. They also have struggles that manage to compliment each other perfectly? Keith has abandonment issues, and Lance has self-esteem issues; neither of them feel worthy of love, and I just think that them being able to find love and trust in each other is pretty sexy of them.
What makes me happy about them: They make my symbolism brain happy with their red/blue, fire/ice, hothead/cool dude aesthetic they have going on. Keith in Lance’s jacket is one of my favourite things. Lance braiding Keith’s hair makes me so soft. I’ll never get tired of the two of them sharing moments of silence, solidarity, strength, trust, and love. Lance teaching Keith how to dance. Keith teaching lance how to swordfight. Keith learning spanish for Lance. Them cuddling and being soft will never get old. I could probably go on forever but I will cut myself off.
What makes me sad about them: I don’t think we needed canon Klance, but we never even got to see their proper arc of rivals to friends. I’m sad I’ll never get that in canon. I’d say that their mutual pining idiocy would make me sad, but honestly I love that for them.
Things done in art/fic that annoys me: Sometimes people will drop the sharp edges they have and they’ll lose the bickering and the rivalry, which for me is the core of their relationship.
Things I look for in art/fic: Definitely mutual pining, and usually hurt/comfort for fic. Also slowburns. And humour! I don’t go searching for art so I’ve never thought about it, it’s just delivered to me on a silver platter haha.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Hunk. For both of them :P
My happily ever after for them: They’re able to find their self-worth through each other, and are able to enjoy being with each other without fearing for their lives. Or at least, be able to choose how to spend their lives rather than live with the burden of the universe.
What is their favorite non-sexual activity? Probably competing, in anything really. Alternatively, napping together. Yes this is a self-indulgent answer.

Lost Future AU--snapshots 2 (part 8-ish?)
“This can’t get any more painful”
me: hold my beer
------------------
“No. Nope. Not going.”
“Oh come on, Keith.” Lance begged. “It will be fun! If we want to wow the guests we need to learn some choreography.”
“YOU want to learn choreography.” Keith pointed out, crossing his arms. “I would rather stand at the sidelines and watch as you dance with Hunk and Pidge.”
Lance tapped him on the nose with a wooden spatula, the food he was making on pause. “No, that isn’t romantic. That is sad.”
Keith scrunched up his nose. “It’s not sad, it’s practical.”
“It’s stupid.”
Keith growled, frustrated. “I’m not doing it. I’m not going to make a fool of myself in front of over fifty people.”
Keith hopped off the kitchen stool and began to head for the room, ignoring Lance’s call. He heard him swear, no doubt putting the food on simmer and chasing after him. Keith made it a point to lock the bedroom door, Lance turning the handle and swore again.
“Keith, open the door.”
He remained silent, leaning against the bed frame and picked up his headphones, prepping to drown out Lance’s begging.
“Keeeeeiiith, please open the door. I know you hate dancing but I swear on my life you’ll do great. We have two months, we have time.”
Keith bit down on his flaring temper. God, why can’t he just let it go? He loves Lance, but sometimes he just doesn’t give up.
“Okay, how about this,” Lance reasoned. “We go to the lessons. If you’re still not comfortable by our last session, we don’t have to dance. I’ll let Hunk and Pidge take the wheel and do something else together. But...”
Keith stopped mid-earphone, one half hanging from his neck while the other neared his ear, rock music on full blast.
“But?”
There is a shift against the door, Lance most likely leaning his head against it. Not to hear, but in a way for him to be closer to Keith. To surpass the barrier Keith has drawn up, be it physical or mental. Keith knew he shouldn’t be this worked up. He usually isn’t. But venturing on unfamiliar territory in front of friends and family...it stirs something inside him that makes him feel wrong.
Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean he wanted to ignore Lance’s wishes. He wanted to dance with him. To create a memory they can look back on in fondness. Yet he knew, just knew he would fuck up. He doesn’t want to ruin the wedding in any way, no matter how big or small it was.
“But I want you by my side.” Lance said softly. “Hunk and Pidge are fun to dance with. But you? We never really tried. I want to hold you close to me. I want our first steps in our marriage to be a dance, because that is what being in a relationship with you has been: beautiful and free. You make me happy, Keith. And I want to show it to everyone. I want to show YOU off. Again, we will do what is most comfortable, but it...would mean the world to me if we could try.”
Now how was Keith going to say no to that?
He relented, casting his phone and headphones away and opened the door.
“Fine.”
Lance clapped his hands and hugged him before Keith pointed out the food may be burning.
--------------------------------
Keith and Lance were just finishing up their dance lessons for the wedding one day, Keith’s two left feet definitely getting the best of their teacher by the end of the night. Lance insisted they have a dance as husbands, and though Keith likes the idea of it, he wasn’t much of a dancer. In fact, he made it a point he skipped his spring fling and prom in high school because A: he had no one to go with, and B: can’t dance to save his life. Engage in combat? Yes. Lovingly twirl around a ballroom for an hour? Might as well be asking him to fly.
The teacher had left by the time the two changed back into their regular clothes, Keith in t-shirt and jeans with a hoodie over it and a beanie, while Lance sported more fashionable wear. The only clashing article he was wearing was his plastic bracelets, some saying ‘free the nipple’ and another saying ‘just getting bi”.
“I don’t think I’m going to be able to waltz anytime soon.” Keith commented, hauling his bag over his shoulder.
“Not with that attitude you won’t. Come on, it’s not a wedding without dancing.”
“I know, I know.” He pulled at his long hair, a nervous habit. “But you saw today. I’m pretty sure the instructor will have bruises for days.”
Lance laughed and walked over to his fiance, wrapping his hands around his waist and kissing his forehead. “Oh I noticed. Who would have thought the combat specialist would be bad at dancing.”
“It’s Krav maga. And the two are very different.”
“Both involve being quick on your feet.”
Keith sighed. “What are you getting at?”
“That you can dance. Just think of it as another way of fighting.”
“That’s hard to do with someone I love. I only wanted to kick your ass when we hardly knew each other and you were being a di--”
Suddenly the arms around Keith’s waist were gone and he was spinning, the lowering sun blurred into an abundance of oranges and yellows. He was falling to the ground, Keith bracing himself for impact. But instead an arm caught him by the waist, the other hand holding his. Lance was smirking down at him, proud of his ability to surprise the boy who was always on guard. Always ready for Lance’s antics. But this time he had him, and he did not hesitate to show his pride. Keith stared back at him, split between making heart eyes our retaliate.
“Someone is speechless.”
“Um...Uh...” His face slowly grew red, his pale skin not helping him in concealing it. “You just...caught me off guard.”
“Yes I did.” Lance grinned and bent down, closing the distance between the two. Keith tilted his head up, his eyes fluttering until--
Keith knocked Lance’s feet from under him and stood up, just barely catching the screaming boy from impact. Keith pulled his arm and looked back at him, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Who is speechless now?”
“No fair! You know you can’t use your skills against the innocent!”
“What you going to do, fight me?” Keith invited him with a quirk of his eyebrow and shift in stance, but Lance just pouted, crossing his arms.
“Cheater.”
“Scaredy cat.”
“I am not scared!” He proclaimed indignantly.
“Oh yeah? Prove it.”
“You do not want to tempt me.”
Keith just smiled more, that smug glint sparkling in his amethyst eyes. They shown with such a brilliance in the low light, the darkness fading away and making them appear as if they were pure gems. Keith stance took on one readying for an attack, one foot backwards and the other forward. He straightened his back, puts his hands out, and waited. Of course he really didn’t think Lance would take him up on his challenge. They had this kind of bickering before, Lance usually sticking his tongue out and walking away, or was the one doing the daring.
Keith really wasn’t serious in his stance, for he jumped when Lance straight up ran to him. But rather than slam his body against the wall or floor, he seized Keith by his waist and lifted him. Keith squawked, losing his balance and almost toppling onto the taller boy. Lance was unnaturally strong, something he hid by his lanky-ness.
Keith steadied himself by placing his hands on Lance’s shoulders, staring him down.
“What are you doing?”
“Proving a point.”
“In what? That you are bad at combat and want to swoon the enemy?”
He shook his head. Rather than answering, he dropped Keith and took his gloved hand and his other arm wrapped around the smaller boy, pulling him close. “Proving you can learn a thing or two from me.”
It took a moment for it to process in Keith’s flustered brain. “You are not going to teach me how to dance.”
“Oh I am.” Lance smiled. “If you can fight, you can dance.”
He reached inside the pocket of his jeans and extracted a remote, aiming it to the speaker on a table in a far corner. “Chasing Stars” by Fleurie came one, one of the few songs the two agreed to play at their wedding. Keith wondered for a minute how he got the remote from the instructor, but his thoughts were interrupted from Lance pulling Keith.
“Just follow my lead.” Lance said. Keith tried to copy his steps; tried not to hurt his toes. His eyes remain on the floor, watching his feet closely that he forgets the rhythm. Forgets who he was dancing with. Lance did so well with the instructor, Keith wanted to be a pro as well. Or at least, pro enough he wont make a fool of himself in front of fifty people. Maybe more. Oh God Lance has a big family. What if they laugh at him? What would he--
A hand pulled Keith’s chin up. They stopped, Lance’s blue eyes washing over Keith’s nerves. Sending out a current to silence his worries over the future, blind faith in the partner he would have in life.
“Keep your eyes on me. Go with the music. You trust me, don’t you?”
Keith’s shoulders relaxed. “Always.”
Thus, they danced. Lance twirled him, spinning the other into the embrace of inner surprise. Dipped his body in quiet elation. Waltz him in the shining lights, his heart fluttering with each step of their feet. Lifting him up, giving him a chance to reach out to the stars. The room no longer existed, replaced by an empty field and bright stars smiling down on them; wrapping the couple in its arms and whisking them into an array of euphoria and adoration.
And for once, Keith didn’t step on his toes. He kept his eyes on Lance, his careful, analytical look disappearing into a wide grin. He might as well be dancing on air, because he felt weightless. They were the only two people that mattered in the world. Just two boys so deeply in love the gods sent down their blessings in a form of clear skies and easy, beautiful movement.
They were two wandering souls searching the earth for their missing piece. Now they are complete, the missing puzzle piece snugged comfortably in their chests. Keith never thought he would be this lucky. This happy. If he could freeze time, he would just to bask in the moment. But then again, there really is no reason for it. They are getting married and will have the rest of their lives to dance and love each other.
When the song ended, Lance pulled Keith close to him as before, their hands linked as Lance held Keith against him, chest to Keith’s back and arms reaching forward while Keith kept him close.
“Told you you could do it.” Lance whispered, tender and soft.
“I have a good teacher.”
With that, Keith angled his head to kiss Lance, the song long over but the dance continuing.
----------------
“Yes, I need to cancel. Yes I’m aware reservations take months to years. No I--look, the wedding is cancelled. No we weren’t unhappy, it just didn’t work out. Yup. Uhuh. You too, goodbye.” Lance says, finishing up with the phone call to the venue. As soon as he clicks the red button he sighs, resting his head on the kitchen table. It has been a grueling day in cancellations and setting up the viewing, Lance’s battered body screaming at him to rest. Allura and Shiro offered to take it over for him, but he shrugged them off, declaring it is his responsibility.
Now he is wondering if it really was a good idea to leave him alone.
He still has to cancel the catering, flower arrangements, honeymoon reservations, inform the bridesmaids and groomsmen of unfortunate circumstances, the damn limo, and return the wedding rings.
The last one he is not looking forward to. Just looking at Keith’s engagement ring around his neck hurts. Physically going into the shop and “enlightening” the store of current events is sure to leave him aching. And it wont be his bones.
He tiredly glances to his left. A framed photo lies flat on its front, the contents hidden away in a vain effort to preserve what is left of Lance’s heart. Yet he is compelled to reach out, grasping the smooth wood and flipping it up.
It is a picture of Lance and Keith at the dance studio, Lance angling the camera like a selfie to capture the moment. Keith was leaning against him, a small but adoring smile while Lance full on grinned, all teeth and painful cheek muscles. Lance didn’t care at the time. He was too overwhelmed with the fact he was to marry the boy he admired and sought for in a couple of months.
Both of their feet hurt after that day. But they didn’t care. It was fun. and filled with hope.
God, why did he think leaving in that snowstorm was a good idea? Why? Keith was even weary of it. He should have listened. Maybe then, maybe--
No, he can’t think about the accident right now. He needs to cancel shit. start working on the funeral. Get Keith’s body out of the morgue as soon as possible. He is cold and alone. Lance doesn’t want him left that way for too long.
He left the photo and puts on his jacket--well, put on one half. The other is trapped in a cast. He inserts his earbuds and heads out the door, the jewelry shop a couple blocks away. Lance can’t drive with one arm, so walking it is.
When he nears the shop he pauses his music, readying himself for the worst discussion of his life.
Then, he hears it.
It’s subtle; quiet, a whisper in the wind. The familiar high octave voice and elegant piano surpassing the hurrying sounds of traffic. It’s melody slowly wrapping around Lance’s still form at the end of the crosswalk, choosing to settle around his neck as his back hits brick.
It came from one of the shops, but Lance cannot pinpoint which one. All he knew is it is the same one Lance and Keith danced to in the photo, and it might as well have stabbed him. He shoves the earbuds farther in his ear and cranks the music. He ducks his head down and works to ignore the haunting voice, no doubt following him as he walks down the crowded streets. It isn’t until he reaches the jewelry store did he take a breath.
Jewelry stores are usually silent. Silent or playing mainstream music at low volume that you’d have to sneak into the back just to hear the lyrics perfectly. He should be safe.
Oh but how wrong he is. As soon as he takes out his earbuds and approaches one of the nicely dressed sellers with an over-the-top grin, the same song begins to play. At first, Lance doesn’t notice it right away. He is busy messing with his backpack, only able to use one arm. The woman helping him offered assistance, but he shrugs her off. He has his hand around the boxes and was about to hand the receipt over to the woman when his ears perked up, curiosity killing the cat.
His hand stops. The woman asks him a question, no doubt wondering when he purchased it and if the return is valid. Lance doesn’t hear her. He is engulfed by the song, its melody slithering up his spine and curling around his neck, the noose tightening with each word, with each hit or strum of the instruments.
Touching the clouds, never get found Shoot straight up, never come down Lets get lost chasing stars Out on the edge, losing our breath Hearts on fire in our chests Lets get lost chasing stars, lets get lost, lets get lost chasing stars, chasing stars (stars, stars)
“Sir? Sir, are you alright?” The woman asks, concern etched in her eyes.
No. No he isn’t alright. He feels like he is choking. Being choked. Strangled by the song. Clawing at the imaginary hands reaching out from the rings, the fingers scratching deep cuts into his flesh. His lungs are on fire, his legs growing weak. The room seems to spin, his nails gripping onto the glass as a way to prevent him from falling. Falling into the abyss waiting for him. He’s okay. He’s okay. He’s--
He is not okay.
“Sir?”
Lance’s knees buckle, the rings falling with him and clattering. He needs to breathe. How can he breathe?
Keith’s bright eyes flash through his memories, his laugh echoing in the middle of the song as Lance spun them around the studio.
“Slow down! I’m going to trip!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll catch you.”
It should have been him. The doctors even said, it should have been HIM. He was the driver. He was the one who insisted on leaving. He was the one who’s side was the most damaged.
He should have protected Keith, not the other way around.
It should have been him.
Lance covered his mouth with his uninjured hand, the tears he was holding back overtaking his shut down. His breath came out labored, and without so much as a care in the world over the worried employee and growing crowd, he sobbed.

Happy Holidays @zenzenzence !! I was your Secret Santa for @voltronsecretsanta2k18 ! I hope you’ll like this <3
Rating: G
Summary: After the War is over, everyone has moved on with their life, found a job helping the Universe maintain its newfound peace. Pidge works as a scientist on Earth with her family and loves her job more than anything, but there is just one little thing missing.
Tags: Friends to Lovers, Post-canon, Canon Divergence, Spoiler Free, No Warnings Apply.
The cafeteria was almost empty. It was late at night but Pidge had lost the notion of time experimenting with some new crystals the Alteans had brought during their last visit to Earth. She sighed, moving the spoon aimlessly in the now cold bowl of soup. Things were simpler now that the War was over, they weren’t threatened by some new Galra at any given moment, they weren’t constantly fighting or running, but they were also lonelier. Everyone was doing their best to make sure peace was maintained everywhere. Allura, Romelle and Coran traveled around the Galaxies offering their help when needed, sometimes joined by Krolia and her Blades. Hunk had moved to Balmera, to work as an ambassador and be with his girlfriend Shay. He visited quite often but it was not the same. As for Keith, Lance and Shiro, they were living the dream of their life, working as pilots for the now intergalactic Galaxy Garrison. Which left her on Earth with her family. She was a scientist, and she loved her job more than anything, but sometimes, just sometimes, she thought back to when it was just the seven of them in the Castle of Lions, running away from Zarkon, discovering new alien civilizations and technologies. It was scary, true, but there were also the laughs, the friendships, the bond that only sharing such an intense experience can create.
“See? We are safely back! Told you that bringing an alien with us was the best way to be sure not to be abducted,” a loud boisterous voice interrupted her musings.
“Ugh, you made this joke at least two hundred times in the past months. Shiro, please, end my misery and kill me, or take him away from me. I don’t want to see him for at least one year now!” Another voice replied.
Shiro. The name made a spark of something light and warm crackle in her chest. She turned and saw the three pilots walking slowly along the corridor, still in their armors, with tired expressions, ruffled hair and their helmets in their hands.
“Keithy boy, you wound me. I thought we were pals! Buddies?” The first voice replied.
Lance.
They were back.
She didn’t realize she was running towards the door, until she collapsed face first into the glass it was made of with a thump.
“Pidge? Oh my god, is that you?” Lance said peeking from the other side. “You are taller!”
“Seriously, Lance? You haven’t seen her in ages and the thing you go with is ‘you are taller’?” Keith teased and moved to open the door to help her. When she confirmed she was okay, her attention returned to the three of them.
“Hey!” She said awkwardly, trying to tame the embarrassment of her entrance. “How are you guys? How was the mission?”
“We are fine, thank you Pidge, it’s good to see you!” Shiro replied, opening his arms for a hug. She happily went and let the contact linger before turning to offer the same greeting to the others. She had just been thinking about how much she had missed them.
“Now I’d better go and separate these two before they give me another headache with their bickering,” Shiro continued. “Seriously, how could I think it was a good idea to choose them for the same team.”
Pidge chuckled. “Don’t even try that, Shiro, I know you love them.”
“Yeah, I really do…” Shiro said, squeezing both Keith and Lance with his arms as they squeaked. “But after eight long months alone with them, I need a vacation. Or ten. Keith, let’s go, come on. Say hi.”
“And don’t forget our date tomorrow, Keithy,” Lance called with a wink as the two began to walk away, waving at them.
Keith groaned but nodded and gave him a thumbs up before turning away.
“You two are exactly the same,” Pidge commented, shaking her head.
Lance smiled fondly. “You don’t change a winning team. And he is a very good friend, I know he doesn’t mean it when he says that he wants to kill me... Probably.” He shrugged. “By the way, what are you doing here? My sense of time might be a bit fuzzy right now but isn’t it a bit late to be at work?
“I got caught up finishing an experiment, I was just eating something at the cafeteria before I go home.” Then, more hushed, she added. “But I’m glad I got to see you.”
She blushed, looking away and hoping he didn’t hear.
“CAFETERIA! What a magic word!” He raised his hands, eyes so wide and shining he looked right out of a comic book. “Oh yes, please, Earth food!”
With a relieved breath, Pidge laughed at his antics. “Don’t you want to have a shower? Or go home?”
“Yes but, REAL FOOD,” Lance replied.
“Ok, fine, come, you can use my card.”
“You are a real angel, Pidge.”
“Yes, yes, whatever.”
They went back to Pidge’s table and Lance jumped from one foot to the other, looking at the admittedly not so small selection the place offered, the Garrison had an amazing cafeteria when compared to other workplaces. Pidge couldn’t help but smile to herself despite knowing she would regret giving him free access to her meal card as she threw away the forgotten soup and waited for him to order.
He came back carrying three full trays of food. Pasta, sandwiches, salad, fries and at least three different cakes. Pidge gave him a pointed look, raising an eyebrow to which he retorted, almost looking offended, “Eight months, Pidge. Don’t you remember how awful the food goo was?”
“I didn’t say anything.”
He rubbed his hands and began to stuff his mouth with the content of the first tray, asking between mouthfuls if Pidge wanted to taste anything.
At first, she refused, too amused by the content expression he was wearing while savoring each dish, then she remembered she was technically paying for all of that and joined in.
“So, anything interesting happened while I was away?” Lance asked, laying back on his chair and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, signaling he wasn’t asking about work or politics.
Pidge huffed. “Not really… I mean, Hunk will probably ask Shay to marry him before the end of the year but it was kind of expected… Other than that, I don’t really know much about the others. The last time Allura visited, it was only to ask us to run some tests on these crystals they found.”
She looked away, trying not to flinch at the mention of Allura’s name. It was probably the one he was most interested in hearing but it never stopped stinging a bit.
“Oh, yeah, we met them at a Marmoran base a couple of quintants ago, Coran was so excited about those.” He leaned on his hand over the table to meet her eyes. “What about you?”
“Me? Well, there’s not much to say, I’m a workaholic, I don’t really have time to go out.”
“And you tell me that I haven’t changed a bit,” Lance shook his head with a small smile on his lips. “Well then, to pay you back for this dinner, I will take you out before I leave for my next mission. You need to take breaks sometimes, it’s important for your skin. And your health in general, of course.”
“Hm… Okay?” She replied, not completely sure this was a good idea. But she knew how stubborn Lance was and there was no way she could avoid something he had set his mind to.
“Good!” He commented, louder than was necessary in the little space between them, he was probably starting to feel the exhaustion for the mission. “I am busy tomorrow but we can go the day after? I know just the perfect place!”
“Oh, right. Your date with Keith… Is there something I don’t know? Did you finally stop running after Allura like a smitten puppy?” She said with a smirk.
“What?? I haven’t been hitting on Allura since… Come on, that was just plain rude. But for your information, no there’s nothing you don’t know, my ‘date’” - he accentuated the word making air quotes with his fingers - “is just a little tradition we have, meet for dinner the day after the mission to talk about what went wrong and what we can improve. It’s for team building, and because our view on things is basically the opposite, so we can compensate one another, like pieces of an engine.”
“Wow that’s… Incredibly mature of you,” Pidge commented before she could think about what she was implying with her surprised tone. “Sorry, I… Didn’t mean it like that.”
Lance just shrugged. “No, it’s okay. I get it. But we have all come a long way since we were four lost kids and a Shiro thrown out into Space, right?”
“Yeah, we have.”
She was lost in her thoughts for a quiet moment, the wave of nostalgia hitting her for the second time that night, until she spotted something over Lance’s last tray that brought her back to the present, especially because she was completely sure it wasn’t in the cafeteria’s selection.
“Are those peanut butter cookies??”
Lance’s eyes widened as he scratched the back of his neck. “Hm… Yeah… They were in the menu and…”
“No, they were not! I would know, I come here every day.”
“You’re right. You are always too smart to me,” he said with an odd tone Pidge couldn’t quite decipher. “I found them at a Space Mall, you can have them, if you want.”
“Thank you!” She grabbed the packet and took one of the biscuits, smiling gratefully. “They are so good!”
“I’m glad you like them,” he smiled. “I’d better go now, thank you for keeping me company and for, you know,” he motioned for the now empty trays.
“Anytime. That’s what friends are for, stealing food from them while remembering the good old times,” she laughed, munching on another cookie.
“Yeah… Good night, Pidgey.”

Pidge, most definitely, didn’t spend the entire day trying to decide what to wear for her evening with Lance. They were just friends and her appearance didn’t matter, especially considering he had known her since she was pretending to be a Garrison student, dressed as a boy with messed and awfully-cut hair and Matt’s glasses. There was no way he would make a fuss about it now. Still, she didn’t remember another time in which the two of them had gone out alone together on purpose. That was the only reason why she was a little on edge, it would have been the same with Keith, or Romelle.
It was also true that, especially after the Meme Kingdom incident - meaning, that one time just after the end of the War when Matt and Lance accidentally discovered their mutual passion for vines and everything related and fell platonically in love with one another - they had gotten incredibly closer, more than she was with the others, except for Matt and Hunk, of course. So she had absolutely no reason to be nervous.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at her reflection in the mirror for the hundredth time. Her hair was still short but the cut was a lot more defined than it used to and her glasses were now the correct size. She was wearing light jeans and a nice green shirt with leaves embroidered around the neck. It was warm outside, so she only carried a light white jacket over her shoulders for good measure. Nothing too fancy but not too sloppy either.
When the bell rang, she petted her dog, checking everything was in order one last time before going out.
“Hey!” Lance greeted with a warm smile.
“Hi.”
“So, I wanted to borrow my mother’s car? Because it would have been more comfortable and all but… She said she didn’t trust me with it. I am one of Earth’s best pilots, my job is quite literally to drive things, yet she didn’t trust me with her car.” He complained, sounding like he still didn’t believe it. “Anyway, since I couldn’t take the car, I had to come up with something last minute and” - he moved to the side, revealing the hoverbike parked behind him - “I borrowed this. My friend assured me it’s perfectly safe.”
“By ‘your friend’ you mean Keith? Because I’m not sure I would trust him when it comes to safety.”
Lance ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “I’m sorry, we can walk and go somewhere else, it’s just… I really wanted to show you this place and I didn’t know where to find another car in such a short time.” He looked so unsure, Pidge almost regretted complaining.
“It’s okay, I trust you to be careful and not kill me. We both know Matt would never forgive you if you do,” she smirked, making him chuckle.
“True, he would probably skin me alive or something. But thank you for your trust. Let’s go?”
Pidge nodded, following him to the bike and sitting with her hands securely to his side. “Ready whenever you are.”
Lance threaded his way among the traffic, driving smoothly and with ease and soon they reached their destination. When he stopped, Pidge jumped down with a big grin plastered on her face from the adrenaline of the speed, which only grew bigger when she took notice of the place they were in front of.
“What is this?” She asked in awe.
Lance put their helmets back in the small trunk of the bike and returned her smile. “It’s new. It opened just before I left for the mission so I couldn’t tell you before but I was sure you would like it.”
“Yes, I love it! Let’s go, I want to see the rest. Let me buy you a drink.”
“Okay, sure,” Lance chuckled as she sprinted towards the door. There was a sign above it, reading The Steampunk Coffee, lit in a green light and surrounded by pieces of engines, wheels and cogs that swirled when she opened.
“This is so amazing,” she could feel her cheeks warm and her eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Wait until you see the tables!” Lance yelled.
And he was right. They sat at a corner and ordered two very colorful drinks with names like Geoffrey Bernard, or Joshua Gideon, or whatever, she could barely read, rapt as she was. The table was a large glass plate with all different kinds of tools glued to the bottom, from writing utensils, to watches, to lamps, to a mechanical keyboard.
“I’m glad you like it,” Lance smiled, and in the dim light of the shop, it looked so soft Pidge’s heart skipped a beat. She had known she had feelings for him for a very long time already, from when they still where the Paladins of Voltron running around the Universe, and she had come to accept it and mastered the art of hide and ignore to almost perfection.
Key-word being almost.
She sipped idly at her drink trying to search her brain for anything to start a conversation with and coming up empty-handed.
“So, what are you working on, right now? Except for the crystal?” The voice reached her like it was coming from under-water but the words felt like a lifeline. Work, that was something she could talk about for ages. Safe, easy, harmless.
So she did. Delved into all the details of her new project and asked him about the mission, how it was going with the team, which new planets they had visited. A known territory. Something they had shared for many years and they were both still passionate about. From there, the conversation flew to the most disparate topics without a hitch. Smooth, comfortable, interesting. She didn’t notice how fast the time was passing until the bartender signaled they were about to close.
When she said goodbye and closed the door to her home, Pidge slumped down on the floor, her traitorous brain working a mile a minute with different scenarios, all equally unattainable. It made her unable to focus, or find the will to walk to her bedroom and try to sleep. That night, everything had been perfect but nothing had changed, they were still friends, Lance still didn’t return her feelings and come the following day, she would have to fall back on her usual routine of hide, ignore, accept.

Logically, Pidge knew she was acting childishly. Avoid talking to Lance wasn’t a solution she could use in the long term. Not only because it was weird for their friends but because she didn’t want to lose him. She just needed more time, to forget how warm and happy she had felt after their ‘date’, stop her heart from fluttering in her chest just at the thought of him.
Maybe their new mission was the perfect opportunity. He would be away for weeks, or months, and she would get to see Hunk, the only person who knew about the whole… thing. So that when they would come back, she could act normally around him again.
She walked to the hangar without really thinking, letting her feet carry her along the familiar path. She had said goodbye to her father and brother there all those years ago and, after the War, she had said goodbye to so many people, so many times from that same place. She thought about what Keith said, about going with them. It was true the Garrison treated the five of them differently, considering the part they had played in saving the Universe, so they would probably agree, but she had a job to do. She wouldn’t let missing her friends or anything else get in the way of that. The experiments they were running on Earth were just as important as any space mission and even if they were gradually teaching other people to deal with Altean technology and crystals, everyone still relied on her father and her when it came to important decisions or risky operations.
So she wished good luck, promised to give Hunk a hug for them all and asked to call when they could. Then, she left them to finish their packing and went back to the cafeteria. It almost felt like a deja-vu. She sat at the table she had shared with Lance the previous week, her finger grazing the smooth surface and a small smile playing on her lips.
It was going to be okay.
“Don’t you think there is something missing?”
Pidge froze, recognizing the voice.
“What are you doing here?” She asked and slowly raised her head in time to see Lance scratch the back of his neck with his hand, looking sheepish.
“I kinda wanted to see Hunk? And between Keith and Matt and… You know, I didn’t get to spend much time with my family? Plus, I’ve never asked for a vacation since the end of the War and… Shiro said this mission is easy so they won’t probably need me.”
Pidge raised a suspicious eyebrow. “You hate it when you feel like Shiro and Keith treat you as the third wheel in the team, what are you hiding?”
“I… Ugh, fine. I hated leaving things hanging between us like that. I know we are just friends and everything, but I thought… Did I do something wrong? Didn’t you enjoy yourself at the Steampunk Coffee? Because I don’t even know how I got the courage to ask you out that day? It was the atmosphere, you were buying me food and we were laughing so I just… Didn’t think much and did it? But then at Matt’s you wouldn’t even look at me and I just” - he shut his mouth abruptly and shook his head - “Sorry, this is probably stupid. I must have read the situation completely wrong. I’ll go home now. I’m really sorry, it must have been wishful thinking, I’m so stupid.”
He turned, starting to walk away before Pidge could even blink. She was struggling quite a lot to process everything he had just said but there wasn’t time for that now.
“Please, stop!” She called and before she could second-guess herself, she took his hand in her own. “You didn’t do anything wrong, it was perfect. I was the one who didn’t want to be delusional.” She looked intently at her shoes to avoid eye-contact.
“Delusional? Why would you be-”, he stopped, probably as realization hit him. Pidge dared a side glance to see his expression and the way he was beaming was blinding.
“Yeah,” she confirmed, just to be sure.
His grip on her hand tightened. “Really? You like me too? What, how, when… Why?”
He looked so insecure but hopeful, she couldn’t help her mind from conjuring the word adorable. She laughed, taking a step closer. “Since forever, I think. How can I not?”
“We are such disasters. I thought you liked Keith! He told me it wasn’t true but...”
“And I thought you liked Allura!” She retorted, before the meaning of his words really registered. “Wait, Keith? Why Keith?”
“You go on for hours talking about your cryptids and you even planned to go on a trip together once!”
“Yes, because we are very good friends and you all don’t like talking about that stuff so we leave you out of it. Unlike you and Matt,” she added the last part a bit sarcastically, offering a playful smirk.
Lance chuckled. “Yeah, you are right.” He tapped his finger lightly over the back of her hand, his smile becoming tentative and shy. “So... Would you like to go on a proper date with me?”
She took another step, pressing her head to his chest. “How is that even a question,” she said into his shirt and when he laughed in response, the sound reverberated through his chest, sounding so free, unhindered, it made her feel impulsive for the second time that day, and probably even in her life. She looked up at him with all the affection she had never let her eyes show, years of longing, hoping, hiding.
“Yes, me too,” he whispered, before brushing his lips first over her forehead then her nose.
And there’s that saying that things come in threes, right? So it was no wonder that Pidge’s brain decided to shut down once again that day, letting her make another impulsive decision as she shifted her weight to the tips of her toes. Lance’s eyes widened considerably when he realized what she was about to do but he made no move to stop it. If anything, he pressed closer.
The taste, the warmth of his skin and his scent enveloped her and, in that moment, she knew that even if she had had to wait for ten, or even twenty years more, it would have still been worth it.

So there’s a post by @wlwvoltron saying that Keith would probably be on queer eye (and let’s be honest he totally would he’s a walking gay disaster) BUT!!!!! It got me thinking about a vld Queer Eye AU.
Lance
Fashion. Like always, Lance would fit in any one of the categories because he’s just that good. However, he is the most in tune with style and trends (best fashion sense out of the Paladins) and knows how to talk to others to make them feel confident in themselves. He would be able to make the nominee feel comfortable in their sense of style and would know how to make them feel proud of their appearance.
Hunk
Food. I was tempted to put him down as design considering he’s the engineer but in vld we’ve seen him become the most passionate and intense when it comes to people’s food habits (space mall episode). He would be harsh with his critiques but would be kind and compassionate when it came to showing the nominee how to cook a meal.
Keith
Design. His shack in vld may need some work but obviously knows how to operate machinery well enough to break into a government facility to rescue a pseudo brother, upkeep a 20 year old bike, and make a shack functional and lived in. He would like any sense of uniqueness in the nominee’s house and would probably make sure that it was reflected in the overall design. Also, he’s the best at working around animals and knows how to incorporate stuff for cats and dogs into the design.
Coran
Grooming. The mustache is enough justification for why he fits this. He knows hundreds of styles throughout the world across all sorts of time periods and would know how to make the hair of the nominee reflective of their personality while also being stylish.
Shiro
Culture. He deals with a lot of emotions in vld and has shown to be a go to support for the others. He was also a big deal on earth before and after the Kerberos mission so he knows what people like and what is appropriate to do in public settings. In the show he would help the nominee open up and become more comfortable with themselves and the world around them, giving them “dad talks” and support for them to be the best they could be.
Other facts:
⁃ Keith and Lance have been married for five years and either the nominees know this instantly because they bicker like an old married couple or they don’t know until the very end when they end up doing something romantic because of how much they bicker
⁃ Coran often tells stories of his youth to the nominees while doing the grooming process
⁃ Hunk and Keith consult with each other about the kitchen before Keith actually does any design work because Keith knows nothing about what’s is and isn’t good to have in a kitchen
⁃ Shiro is still missing an arm and it often becomes a topic of conversation within the show between him and the nominee (though sometimes it’s cut from the final episode if it’s repetitive of other mentions)
⁃ Pidge works as a camera man and was good friends with the cast prior to the show even airing
⁃ Allura nominates Alfor for the show because it’s been fifteen years since her mother passed on and while he is living a fully functional life she feels as if he needs a push to live his happiest and best life, this is how she befriends the cast and ultimately how Coran and Alfor meet (and later fall in love)

Voltron season 8 was....weird
So...I really don’t know how to feel about it. I mean, it had a very interesting and intricate story line, the effects were amazing, and I did like that there were some gay moments (however small and random they were). Shiro being a dad, Hunk being adorable, Pidge having a funny dynamic with her mom. I guess...some of the allurance moments were...cute? But that ending....didn’t make sense to me.
First of all...why’d they have to do that to Allura?? There were other answers, I think, that would have been better than her just dying. It’s kinda bad that the show makers decided to take the main WOC and kill her off. She didn’t deserve it.
There was also just a bunch of randomness in the show: Axca and Veronicas interaction, the fact that Kinkade is actually a dork (even though it’s amazing), Lance and Alluras overall relationship (like there was barely any development but whatever), all the Klance moments (it will always live on in my heart) and you know, Shiro’s husband (Honestly I think voltron was just like, “you want representation?? Well here you go now go fuck off”), Lance’s altean marks. Why’d the white lion die? What happened to Oreand? Like, none of these brought much to the story line and didn’t make sense? What was the point of any of these? Were they just putting shit together and were like “Fuck it, at least we’re done with it”?
Also...how each of the paladins live the rest of their lives. I’m happy that Shiro can finally take a break (we’ve been wanting that since season 1) I’m glad that pidge got to be a crazy influential scientist, (we stan) and hunk got to be something that he loved (instead of an engineer or a diplomat like he had gone to school for and fought a war for but whatever). Keith got to be a volunteer for Galran Red Cross, so that’s good for him I guess. And then there’s...Lance. I get that war can change you as a person and going through something like what the paladins did would cause some of them to want to live a different life, but I didn’t think they’d forget who they were before the war. He said when he was talking to the altean children that he lived “a quiet life, like I’ve always wanted.” Bitch...since when?? Why’d you join the garrison then?? It’s so sad that he finally had happiness because of Allura, only to be taken away again at the very end making him a sad Farmer. Like..what?? Both of them deserved better.
Overall, I felt the ending was underwhelming and didn’t match well with some of the characters. And I hate what happened to Allura. So...after this long ass introduction that looks like a literary analysis, I’ve decided (for the first time since joining this fandom) to provide my own kind of rewrite for how it should have gone.
So first of all, Allura doesn’t die.
Instead of sacrificing herself to the timelines, they decide to trap Honvera in one of the realties’ Oreand
They’re all the same in every reality because they’re powerful and ancient and they hold the secrets of Altea and because I say so.
Since Oreand back home is destroyed and the lion guardian is gone (it’s gone in this reality but the castle isn’t) it needs a new guardian.
Oreand, since it’s the most powerful alchemy place for Altea, it has some powerful tool that can fix realities.
Allura learns to use it in the nick of time, it accidentally kills Honvera (sorry but if it’s her or Allura you know my choice)
This leads to Oreand needing to be restored in all realities.
They get sent back to theirs, and something comes by and tells Allura that she is the new guardian of Oreand.
She becomes this immortal star goddess and has to live the rest of time as the ruler of Oreand and Altea.
This makes dating a bit hard
So she tells Lance good-bye and they say they love each other (it’s a total Sokka and Yue moment) and then she becomes the lion goddess.
This allows Lance to have some leeway to get over Allura (“my first girlfriend turned into a star goddess”)
While he still feels for her and cares about her, he is able to let go knowing that Allura is doing something important for the universe. (Sometimes the paladins will visit and have chats and like...Coran doesn’t have to not say good bye)
Keith starts to visit Lance’s farm more.
He realizes a quiet life would be nice after fighting a war for so long and fixing the universe afterwards.
Keith’s idea of a quiet life is of course continuing his charity work, just more close to home.
He spends more time with Lance
What are these...feelings?
After a couple months they start going out
Lance is able to fall in love and not only think of Allura everywhere.
He realizes that while he did love Allura, he didn’t have as strong a connection with her as he did with Keith, and he’s okay with letting go. It’s what Allura would have wanted.
Keith didn’t realize after all that bickering that he was harboring a crush and didn’t want it to become obvious or hurt him.
Their relationship develops even more and then they get married.
Lance becomes an important diplomat alongside Hunk after he’s done being a depressed farmer (they still farm and cook in their spare time)
Lance and Keith adopt children.
So do Shiro and his Husband
They have one big family (plus all of Lance’s family)
They live happily ever after
The end

Keithhad known what happiness was from a young age thanks to his dad. Keith had oncethought that his dad had been enough for him and he was blessed. Then Keith gothis grandparents and his uncle Kuro and he still didn’t think life could getbetter. Until he met Hunk, Lance and Pidge.
Keithwas thankful every day for having gone to Allura’s program and meeting thosethree. Keith had struggled to make friends all his life and even now thosethree were all the friends he had, but they were all that Keith needed. He’dknown them practically his whole life and he couldn’t imagine it without anyone of them.
              EspeciallyLance.
Evenafter being married to Lance for six months now, Keith was still in awe. Everytime he looked down at the engagement ring that Lance had surprised him with, after his return home from his service in the military, on one hand and now hiswedding ring on the other, Keithstill couldn’t believe it. He still couldn’t believe that he’d been with thisman for nearly a decade now. He still couldn’t believe that Lance had finallyasked him out to the carnival on the dock at sixteen for their first date, which led to another and then another and then another. He still couldn’t believethat Lance’s hugs and kisses always greeted him after a long day of work, orthat Lance’s family still cooked for the newlyweds often. He couldn’t believethat just six months ago he’d said, “I do” to the love of his life and went ontheir honeymoon together.
And tothink it all started with Keith accidentally knocking down Lance’s sandcastleat the age of four.
Keithwas sure the two of them were disgustingly sweet, always holding hands orlaughing and kissing, but Lance always knew when a line was crossed. He knewwhen it was too much for Keith or when to back off. He never pressured Keithinto sex ever and he was content tojust walk side-by-side with Keith if it was too much for Keith.
Ofcourse they still bickered and fought, but that was always overpowered withtenderness and love between the two.
“I’vegot a late night today with teacher training for the new school year so don’twait up.” Lance said, kissing Keith before pulling him into his arms. Keithrolled his eyes at Lance’s attempts to be romantic but couldn’t help but grinat his husband.
“Boo, myhusband leaves little old me to eatall alone and sleep alone today.” Keith fake pouted while Lance rubbed circlesinto his hips.
“Awbabe, come on, don’t be that way.” Lance whined, pressing soft kisses all alongKeith’s face. Keith couldn’t stop himself from laughing at the butterfly-likefeeling. “It’s not like I’d rather be trained again on how to teach a bunch of five-year-old brats, rather thanspend time with my gorgeous husband.”
Keithlaughed again, eyes catching the silver wedding rings on Lance’s hand. Like always,he found himself draw to tracing over the ring with scarred hands. “Alright, Isuppose it’s okay. And you know you love those kids.” Keith leaned up to giveLance one last peck on the lips before sliding out of Lance’s arms. He ignoredLance’s pathetic whine to head into the kitchen.
“That Ido. But not as much as I love you!” Lance called out before opening the frontdoor.
“Yeah, Ilove you too.” Keith said, smiling at Lance’s small whoop of happiness. Helooked down at his own rings and couldn’t keep the cheesy grin from his face. Lance could be a dork sometimes, but atleast he’s my dork.
x.V.x
It waslate, and after a long day of repairing the old studio to look new, and Keithwas exhausted. He’d barely made dinner, since Lance wasn’t home and Keith couldnot having some sort of a cooked mealwaiting for his husband, before he’d fallen face first into their bed to sleep. He fell asleep knowing Lance would be home soon enough, pressed up next to himwhere he could lay his head on Lance’s chest. Maybe his hair would annoy Lanceand tickle him, since he’d grown it out past his shoulders, knowing that Lancewouldn’t move a muscle if Keith pretended he was asleep.
However, instead of being awoken by Lance’s warm arms, he was instead awoke to the loudring of the phone and an empty bed.
Theircat Bluedot (we can’t name her Blue,Keith, not after my girl) was annoyed and meowed loudly at the noiseinstantly awaking their overly large puppy Marmora. Between Bluedot hissing,Marmora barking and the phone ringing, Keith could feel a headache coming on.However, he stumbled over an eager Marmora and managed to reach the phone afterthe sixth ring.
              “Hello?”He sleepily asked.
“Hi, I’m looking for a Keith Shirogane?”An unfamiliar voice said over the line and Keith frowned. He momentarilyrecalled the argument between Keith and Lance about which last name they wouldsettle for and even though Lance proposed, they had decided to keep theShirogane name. Keith was touched when Lance admitted he knew how much his namemeant to Keith and that he never planned on having Keith change it.
“This ishim. Can I ask who is calling?”
“I’m Dr.Ross at St. Andreas hospital. I’m calling because you are the husband and emergencycontact for Lance Shirogane.” Instantly, Keith felt his entire body freeze asif icy fingers were squeezing him. His breathing had stopped short and he couldfeel his arms trembling. No, no, no.Lance is okay. He has to be. This is all a dream.
              “L-Lance?”He asked tightly.
              “Yes. Ishe your husband?”
Keithswallowed thickly. “Y-Yes. He’s my husband. Please, is he okay?” Keith desperatelyasked, ignoring Marmora and Bluedot who had both wandered into the room. Theyboth stared at Keith, as if worried, but Keith couldn’t focus on anything butthe voice on the other side of the line.
“I’mafraid your husband was in a car accident. Another car swerved on a patch ofice and hit his side of the car. He was taken into surgery for his leg, aboutten minutes ago. I’m calling to let you know that he’s hear and we’ll needsomeone to fill out forms in case any other emergency surgeries are needed.”The doctor continued and Keith felt as if his whole world was falling. Theworld was dangerously tilting andKeith had to grab the counter to stop himself from falling. Mamroa whined andBluedot tried to cuddle up next to Keith’s legs. This can’t be happening. Lance has to be fine. He’ll be coming homeany second now, with that stupid grin on his face and those bright blue eyes hehas.
              This isn’t happening.
“O-Okay.”Keith said shakily, amazing at how calm his voice remained. “I’ll be down assoon as I can. Thank you for calling me.” Keith’s body was numb but it wasalready moving to where he had last put his shoes, with Marmora and Bluedottrailing behind.
“Alright. We’ll keep you updated as you get here.”
“Please,”Keith licked his lips, feeling his breath turning shallow. The doctor was quieton the other side of the line but didn’t hang up. “Please take care of myhusband.”
              “…Ipromise we will.”
ThenKeith was racing to the hospital.
x.V.x
“Keith,oh, have they told you anything?” Keith numbly looked up upon seeing severalpeople entering the hospital room. He hadn’t left the bedside since the doctorshad emerged from surgery and allowed him back to see Lance. It was horrifyingto see his husband so lifeless on thehospital bed covered in bandages. His usually sunny skin was paler than Keithhad ever seen it and only make the situation look worse than it was.
Thankfully,Keith got up to greet Lance’s parents. Both of which pulled him into asurprising hug, kissing his cheek before going over to their son’s bedside. Then Keith was drawn into a tight hug by his own dad. It was then that Keithfinally allowed his body to break down, like it had been wanting to for hours.
Quietly,Shiro pulled the two of them out of the room to give Lance’s family someprivacy and for Keith. They were allowed into a quieter, empty room where Keithsobbed into his father’s chest. It was a bit awkward with Keith being tallerthan Shiro now, but Shiro easily pulled him down and rubbed soothing circlesinto Keith’s hair.
“Shh.Shh.” Shiro soothed softly, not even wincing when Keith dug his nails into his back. His son looked awful when Shiro hadfinally seen him, nowhere near as bad as Lance, but still bad. Keith neededthis moment and he needed to let out the pain instead of bottling it in. Shiroquietly heard the door opening and saw Kuro entering and shutting the doorbehind him.
“It’s okay Keith. He’s going to bealright? Lance is going to make a full recovery.” Shiro continued to whisper asKeith’s cries went on. Kuro found himself gently rubbing Keith’s shaking back. “Thedoctors said that he’ll be fine. He’ll need some help for a while but he’sgonna be fine and they’ll wake him up tomorrow. It’s okay. He’s okay.”
Keithcried even harder but attempted to nod against his father. He knew that Shirowas right and that he was repeating everything that the doctors had told Keith. But Keith was just so tired.
              “I – I can’tlose him.” Keith finally choked out.
“OhKeith, you’re not going to lose him.” Shiro pulled Keith’s head away from hisbody so they could look right at each other. He then gently wiped the tearsfrom Keith’s eyes. “Lance is aliveand he’s going to be fine. You won’t lose him.”
Keithsniffled, red faced with bags under his eyes and hair a mess. “B -  But what if I do?”
“Now, Idon’t wanna hear you talking like that.” Kuro snapped suddenly, surprising bothKeith and Shiro. Shiro narrowed his eyes at Kuro, wanting to scold his brother’sblunt behavior only to stay quiet at Kuro’s look.
“Enoughof that crap.” Kuro said again and Keith bit back a cry. “Lance is going to be fine. He’s alive; he’s breathing on hisown and he is not in life-threateningconditions. You need to stop thinking that the worst is going to happen andthink about what’s good right now.”
“Kuro…”Shiro said softly, earning another look from his brother. Keith hiccuppedbefore frowning.
“I’msorry that I can’t think like that after my husbandwas just in an awful car accident.” Keith bit back sharply. Kuro’s lips almosttwisted upward in a grin. “At least I’m not emotionlesslike everyone seems to think. Sorry for crying over him.”
“No oneis saying you shouldn’t be emotional Keith.” Kuro said, much gentler than before.Shiro eventually caught on to what his brother was saying and smiled. “We’reall not saying that. It’s okay to be mad or upset or whatever. But you can’t think the worst. You need to bepositive because that’s what Lance is going to need when he wakes up.”
              “Hecould have died!” Keith snapped.
              “But hedidn’t.” Kuro replied.
“Keith,”Shiro cut in softly. “Listen to your uncle. He’s right, for once.” Shiroignored the wounded look on Kuro’s face to look at his son. Keith was shockedto see his own father siding with Kuro rather than him. “You have every rightto be upset and to cry and that’s not what he’s trying to get you to stop. Hewants you to stop fearing that Lance is going to die because it’s draining on you. You can’t function ifyou’re always thinking that the worst will happen to Lance after this.”
“You’redad’s right. Thanks Takashi.” Kurorolled his eyes and put a hand on Keith’s shoulders. “I know it’s hard, but it’sgoing to be a hell of a lot harder for Lance, and he needs you by his side. Heneeds a positive force by his side to keep him going when it gets rough. You’reboth allowed to be angry and upset that this happened but you can’t keepthinking of all the bad when there’s so much good. Your husband is alive with injuries that will heal. Keith, you and the two of us, understand physical scars more than anybody and how hardthey can be. Isn’t it wonderful that Lance will only have minor scars; that hisleg didn’t needed to be amputated or that he will have full mobility when heheals.”
It tooksome time but eventually Keith nodded.
“AndLance is alive. Lance will soon enough come home to you to your precious puppyand that hellion you call a cat.” Kuro continued, while Keith’s grin only grewwider and wider.
“Bluedotis wonderful, especially to Lance.” Keith said gently, and Kuro rubbed his chinthoughtfully.
“Maybewe can get it to see Lance in the hospital. But I’ll make Shiro do is becausethat is a demon cat.” Kuro shuddered and Shiro protested loudly.
“As if.I’m not touching Bluedot. She yelled at me. I’ll gladly sneak Marmora inbecause he is such a good boy.” Shiro replied, causing Keith to laugh wetly.
“Okay, okay. I get it. Stop being so emo.” Keith finally said with a relieved sigh. Hegrinned again when his dad and his uncle both pulled him in for a bone crushinghug. Keith whined playfully, demanding to be let go but the two only held ontighter until Keith couldn’t stop laughing.I’m lucky to have the family that I have.
And to get to share it withLance.
Thatnight, when Lance finally woke up Keith had immediately threatened to castratehim if he ever did another night trainingagain, before smothering Lance with kisses. Lance took it all with grace andlet his husband and family fret and worry over him until Keith and Lance werefinally alone. They stayed up talking about anything and everything, like theydid as kids, until Lance fell asleep. His hand was still in Keith’s and Keithsmiled. He then leaned down to press a soft kiss to Lance’s lips before closinghis own eyes and getting some much needed sleep.
              “I loveyou Lance.”
