The Lovers' Library
Here you will find my selfships nicely sorted by amount of lore, then fandom, and then character name. Will the rest of this blog be as nicely sorted? Probably not. But this is the one spot where I will put the effort in.
This list is subject to change depending on how my maladaptive daydreaming goes and what shows I end up watching. It basically has a mind of its own, so *shrug emoji* 🩶
Note: Like 95% (99% currently) of these are gonna be anime men. These are largely romantic selfships, though plenty of these characters are platonic selfships as well, depending on the context/universe.
Note: If they have been crossed out, that means that they’re an ex-partner, canon to our selfship lore. If there is a semicolon ;, that is a separate selfship. If there is a comma ,, then there is some kind of progression within those included ships. If there is an asterisk *, that means that our canon selfship lore exists in the same universe as a different selfship and are canon to the second selfship. If there is an ampersand &, that is a poly-selfship. The plus sign + is used for one very specific, very complicated selfship—it does not need to be elaborated on here.

TIL that Niram’s actor is Todoroki Shouto in the MHA Stageplay. From this post https://www.tumblr.com/zaruba-needslove/764484741893423104/til-niram-is-todoroki-shoto-in-the-my-hero?source=share
Looking more into it, I kinda love the songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I7sDGkLejU
they atre a bop
Oh yeah lol. I remember that. All Might was also played by 2 toku actors- Hiroaki Iwanaga (Date Akira/Birth) played All Might, while Tsuyoshi Hayashi (Hoji/DekaBlue) played his civilian/depowered form.
Stage musical adaptations of anime are always fun to watch as a toku fan because toku actors pop up unexpectedly everywhere. Like this
That's Yuuki Kousei playing Akaashi Keiji in the Haikyuu stage plays. He only played him for this one stage show, Summer of Evolution, but I still think of Yuuki as the live action Akaashi.
Even more, the main star of the show, Hinata, was played by Kenta Suga, who was one of Gentaro's student in the crossover with Wizard. (he was the one who became Inazuman). And Justin Tomomori (Daimonji Shun) was also a main character.
The Prince of Tennis Musicals is kinda infamous for producing a metric ton of toku actors. Hiroki Aiba, Ryuki Takahashi, Ryo Aoki, Yutaka Kobayashi, Masahiro Inoue, Ryota Murai, Renn Kiriyama... and those are just the guys I can name off the top of my head.
And of course. My man Junya Komatsu as Suoh Tamaki, king of the Ouran High School Host Club. (Him being in the musical was why they had to write Hiromi off for a while)
(My reaction to this was not normal, naturally.)

Hideo Sugawara, Seiichi Kato, and Tomio Aoki in I Was Born, But.... (Yasujiro Ozu, 1932)
Cast: Tetsuo Saito, Tomio Aoki, Mitsuko Yoshikawa, Hideo Sugawara, Takeshi Sakamoto, Teruyo Hayami, Seiichi Kato. Screenplay: Akira Fujimi, Geibei Ibushima. Cinematography: Hideo Shigehara. Art direction: Takashi Kono. Film editing: Hideo Shigehara.
The family was source and inspiration for many of Ozu's greatest films, but he often focused on the problems caused by the elders in a family, as in Tokyo Story (1953) and The End of Summer (1961). The family is supposedly the basic element in society, but Ozu's films often show how society itself strains familial relationships: Elders who have outgrown their usefulness can become obstacles to a family's ongoing concerns about fitting into and making a way in the larger society. I Was Born, But.... turns things around by focusing on children, whose self-centeredness can be as troublesome to the family dynamic as that of the very old. Ozu's films are about expectations that can never be quite fulfilled, and in no part of life are expectations more important than childhood. That makes the film sound more grimly serious than it is, for on the surface I Was Born looks an awful lot like American-style comic films about kids -- the Our Gang and Little Rascals comedies, for example. It focuses on Ryoichi (Hideo Sugawara) and his younger brother, Keiji (Tomio Aoki), who have just moved to the suburbs with their father, Yoshi (Tatsuo Saito), and mother, Haha (Mitsuko Yoshikawa). The boys are unhappy with the move, partly because the local kids bully them as newcomers, but also because Ryoichi in particular resents Yoshi's expectations that he'll get high marks in school. Eventually, after playing hooky and being scolded, they begin to adjust, and Ozu's picture of boyhood becomes lighter and more amusing. We see them adapting to their new corner of society: They overcome the bullies and make friends with Taro (Seiichi Kato), who just happens to be the son of Yoshi's boss. But then Taro lets them come over to his house on an evening when his father is showing home movies to Yoshi and some other employees, and Ryoichi and Keiji are embarrassed when some of the films show their father making funny faces and clowning for the boss and co-workers. It's an eye-opener for Ryoichi especially, who becomes aware of his father's place in the corporate hierarchy. Back home, he demands to know why his father isn't a corporate executive instead of a middle manager, and Yoshi is hard-pressed to explain this particular fact of life. The boys pitch a tantrum -- Keiji always following his older brother's lead -- and Yoshi spanks Ryoichi, only making matters worse. By the film's end, the boys and their parents have reconciled, but one senses that everyone has learned one of those lessons that only life can teach. I Was Born, But.... is one of Ozu's late silent films, and it's masterly in provoking serious thought about a near-universal experience while being engagingly entertaining. It's also very much of its pre-World War II time. Perhaps only in hindsight do audiences notice the hints of Japanese militarism in the story: the military-style drills that the small boys undergo at school, and the fact that when Yoshi asks his sons what they want to do when they grow up, they want to be generals. The performances of the young actors are extraordinary, as is the cinematography of Hideo Shigehara.

Digimon Tamers: Cyber Battles, Entry 14: Hanakotoba
Chapter Preview/Link To Full Chapter Below
''Kyubimon, now!'' Reiko ordered, with Kuybimon running up to the samurai-looking Digimon they had been fighting, Musyamon.
''Dragon Wheel!'' Kyubimon enveloped herself in blue flames, unleashing a fireball at Musyamon.
''Shiratori-maru!'' Musyamon cut through the flames with his sword and charged at Kyubimon. Reiko gritted her teeth in frustration. While Kyubimon and Musyamon were both Champion Level Digimon, Musyamon still had advantage over Kyubimon due to his Virus Attribute. However, Kyubimon wasn't alone in this fight.
''Card Scan! High Speed Plug-In H!'' Reiko used a Digi-Card, increasing Kyubimon's speed. The nine-tailed mythical fox Digimon dodged Musyamon's attack, with Reiko following up with another card, ''Card Scan! Garurumon, Fox Fire!''
Kyubimon absorbed the data from the Digi-Card, building up energy for the attack. Musyamon lunged at her, but she was faster.
''Fox Fire!'' Kyubimon unleashed a burst of blue fire at Musyamon at point blank range, burning the other Digimon into nothing but data particles, which she then absorbed.
''That was a close call,'' Reiko commented, glancing at the time on her smartphone. A look of panic set on her expression. ''Oh no, I'm late!''
''Get on my back. We'll be faster that way,'' Kyubimon told her as the digital field around them faded away. Reiko was hesitant for a moment, but then nodded and climbed on Kyubimon's back.
''This is so annoying. My grandma is going to kill me if I don't return as soon as possible,'' Reiko muttered under her breath. Kyubimon's ears twitched as she heard that, but she didn't respond.
During the past few days, wild Digimon had started appearing in the Real World, mostly close to the area where Reiko lived. This meant that she was usually the one who'd have to deal with the Digimon, affecting her ikebana lessons and making her late. It also didn't help that she had to still work on her piece for the exhibition the day after tomorrow, putting her under a lot of pressure. Sure, she could've asked the other Tamers for help, but she had figured that it was too much of a hassle and that she and Renamon could handle them easily.
''I'm sure Michi will understand that this was an emergency,'' Kyubimon said, trying to comfort Reiko.
''I wouldn't be so sure,'' Reiko replied as Kyubimon leapt over a wall, landing in the back garden belonging to the Tsukiya household. Reiko quickly jumped off Kyubimon's back and sat down on the back patio, taking her sneakers off and running in her socks into the house to change into her kimono for the lesson. However, just as she opened the slide door, she froze, seeing Michi standing right in front of her. ''G-Grandma…''
''You are late… Again!'' Michi glared at her granddaughter. Reiko stared back at her grandmother, feeling nervous.
''I'm sorry, I was caught up in a situation,'' she replied.
''You got caught up in a situation you shouldn't have even cared about,'' Michi replied. ''Instead of attending your lessons, you're doing God knows what. Have you even designed a piece of the exhibition?''
Reiko lowered her head, remaining silent. Michi's eyes narrowed.
''I see,'' she muttered, closing her eyes and breathing in. She then opened her eyes, glaring at her granddaughter. ''That's the last straw. From now on, you are forbidden from attending any of your activities not related to your lessons or school.''
''What?'' Reiko was stunned.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐STAGE 71: Games Of 2020⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Last year may not have gone down as one of the best years we had, if anything, comparing it to a dumpster fire wouldn’t be too far off .
In a year where so many things went wrong, video games were pretty much one of the very few Highlights that stood out in 2020.
The ability to spend hours disappearing into a beautiful world like those in the far away islands of Animal Crossing, the competitive but fun gameshow aesthetic of Fall Guys or revisiting old friends in the land of Midgar was a much welcomed breather that we all needed.
These video games provided the much needed distractions from everything else happening in the world, by enabling us to visit far away places filled with hours upon hours of entertainment, colorful, unique and intriguing characters …and most of all amazing music.
SO This is why THIS stage of the Retro VGM Revival Hour has chosen the 3 most amazing tracks from the various games released in 2020 to get you excited for what’s to come in 2021.

LONG POST AHEAD!! (+ YTTD spoilers)
Finally, here’s my YTTD oc! I managed to put things in order! Here you go @jazzlover5972 , I really hope you’ll like it! I'll do another one of these if I realize I missed something jsjfjs
His name is Takahiro Aoki, age 23. He’s a mechanic at his father’s workshop, even though he dreams of becoming a personal trainer. Unfortunately, his parents are convinced that it’s not something he should aim for in his life and that he should keep working at the family workshop since it’s a “safer option”, and his father who has worked as a mechanic his whole life can teach him everything he needs to know about the job.
Personality wise, he’s very straightforward, but gentle. He’s confident but not cocky, curious and a little stubborn.
He’s patient and observant. He’s friendly but he’s more on the introverted side so he won’t be the one to start the conversation. He’s pleasant to chat with.
The most important thing is that he trusts people easily, he’s quite naive. He wants to see the good in people and forgets that some will do shitty things (and this will be important especially with Shin).
He was meeting with a guy the night they were kidnapped, an old friend of his who was trying to convince Takahiro to go out with him; they had feelings for each other but Takahiro’s parents are really strict and he knew he couldn’t tell them. They were kidnapped right after they started a fight because his friend can’t stand how Takahiro doesn’t want to go against his parents even when they are wrong.
For their First Trial, they were locked in two separate rooms with a window in between, and Takahiro was given a map with the clues to solve the puzzle (like, "look under the bed to find [blank] and then do [blank]") and escape, but his friend was so scared and angry that he just yelled at him for the entire time and by the end of the Trial he was killed.
I love thinking about interactions between my ocs and the pre-existing characters and I usually spend more time on that rather than creating a story dgdjsl
I already said Takahiro trusts everyone, and that includes the main cast. He was kinda isolated at first, but after being with the others for a while he started speaking up a little and helping with the investigations. Takahiro’s extremely friendly and straightforward, so everyone likes him basically, especially Sara, the Yabusames and the kids. He could have gotten really well with Joe too.
Qtaro doesn’t trust him that much at first, because he feels like Takahiro’s being too good, but he’s just genuinely trying to help and Qtaro finds out he’s a chill dude.
He ends up really respecting Mishima and Kai, because who wouldn’t.
He’s fine with Keiji, even though they’re not best buds.
He worries for Nao and tries to help her but at the same time he knows she needs some time alone to process everything, so he prefers to let her be.
And then there’s Shin. Ok so, basically, it’s not like Takahiro trusts him completely, but he thinks that he’s hiding something and is not the bad guy he wants the others to believe, especially because of Kanna. He tries to get close to him and make sure he’s okay, overall he cares about him as much as the others.
Reko, Sara and Gin try to warn him many times not to get close to him because he’s bad news, but Takahiro wants to know what’s going on.
Takahiro gets really close to Kanna, she becomes like a sister to him (especially because both of them lost loved ones on the First Trial). And yes, Kanna trusts everyone, but especially Takahiro since he’s genuinely worried about Shin unlike the others and is so friendly and honest. She tries to convince Shin to spend more time with him and to let him join them but Shin always tells her to stay away. Seeing Kanna get so attached to Takahiro makes him wonder if he can trust him a bit more than the others though.
Takahiro never takes part in their plans at the end of the day. Shin is so shocked to see that he’s worried about him that he almost opens up/forgets he created a whole different persona with him a couple of times but he stops before going too far.
Other significant parts include:
- Due to his parents always being so strict, Takahiro can’t make a decision for the life of him, so the Main Games are excruciating for him. He can’t pick sides.
- Takahiro never tells anyone about how he was kidnapped or how his First Trial went, just because no one ever asked him. He finally opens up about it with Alice and only Alice, who he gets really close with. He even tells him about the friend and how he wants to change and stop doing what others want him to do.
- He can’t bring himself to vote for Shin at the end of the Second Main Game, and he votes for Kanna (I did all of this with my friend’s oc and she made hers vote for Shin so it’s all even dgjdj).
If Shin dies, Takahiro gets really worried about Kanna’s well-being and he always tells her to stay with him to not put herself in danger, to the point where Takahiro gets extremely paranoid. Maybe because he feels sorry that he voted for her. And because that’s what Shin would have wanted. Things don’t go well since they are separated when the Dummies arrive. Fortunately he gets along pretty well with Naomichi, who often asks him to join them if he doesn’t trust him enough (and this happens both with Kanna dying and with Shin dying).
If Kanna dies, Shin completely loses all the trust he built for Takahiro and starts avoiding him whenever he can. He can’t get over the fact that he voted for Kanna after being so worried about both of them.
I think that’s all there is for now, really! Sorry for the long post omg ssjgss but I finally did it! Next maybe I’ll work on the Dummy that will be paired with him!
Also, I wrote something for Takahiro and Shin to work on what kind of interactions they may have, maybe I’ll post it in the future!

Wait, Mihara is going to 4cc? When was that announced? Is there a link for a source? I googled and can find nothing about Japan's teams.
Mai is also going to Universiade if you’re planning to watch. There was a live stream last night where we saw the announcements, which is how we got the news so quickly. These were among the first tweets: (Worlds Men)(Worlds Ladies)and from the figure skate tweeting bot: (Worlds, 4CC)Here’s the news article announcing the JSF’s decision, along with the explanation that Daisuke declined his spot to Worlds (which is why Keiji is going) and the interview with Dai (Worlds - Daily News) (and 4CC news - Kobe NEXT).
For future reference, your best bet to find announcements is straight from the source: The JSF website. It won’t be as immediate as tweets from people watching live, but it’s where you can find the official list usually not too long after. There should be an announcement at some point with the full list of alternates and such, but at least right now we have the chosen athletes for each team. In case you can’t read the kanji, I’ve translated the names:Worlds: Shoma Uno, Keiji Tanaka, Yuzuru HanyuKaori Sakamoto, Rika Kihira, Satoko MiyaharaMiu Suzaki & Ryuichi KihiraMisato Komatsubara & Tim Koleto4CC: Shoma Uno, Keiji Tanaka, Kazuki TomonoKaori Sakamoto, Rika Kihira, Mai Mihara Miu Suzaki & Ryuichi KihiraMisato Komatsubara & Tim KoletoUniversiade:Kazuki Tomono, Shu Nakamura, Hiroaki SatoMai Mihara, Hina TakenoJunior Worlds: Tatsuya Tsuboi, Koshiro ShimadaYuhana Yokoi, Tomoe Kawabata, Yuna Shiraiwa (she’s been competing as a Senior domestically and internationally, so she has to get TES minimums at a Junior competition first)Riku Miura & Shoya IchihashiAyumi Takanami & Yoshimitsu IkedaQuadruple Axel magazine tweeted the lists including the alternates that were announced:Worlds Men’s, Ladies’4CC Men’s, Ladies’ Universiade Men’s, Ladies’Jr. Worlds Men’s, Ladies’

Third alternate for Worlds, Koshiro Shimada, would need to get minimum TES in a Senior comp to qualify to compete at Worlds.

Yoshiko Okada in No Blood Relation (Mikio Naruse, 1932) Cast: Yoshiko Okada, Yukiko Tsukuba, Toshiko Kojima, Shin'yo Nara, Fumiko Katsuragi, Joji Oka, Ichiro Yuki, Shozaburo Abe, Tomio Aoki. Screenplay: Kogo Noda, based on a novel by Shunyo Yanagawa. Cinematography: Eijiro Fujita, Suketaro Inokai, Masao Saito. Before it settles down to become an intense domestic drama, No Blood Relation begins with a sequence of comic action: Gen (Shozaburo Abe), a goofy-looking purse-snatcher, is being chased through the streets until he collides with a man who holds him until the crowd catches up. Forced to strip, Gen reveals that he doesn't have the purse on him, and the cops send him away with his pants falling down around his ankles. But the man who caught him is actually an accomplice, Keiji (Ichiro Yuki), who hid the purse on himself when they collided. Keiji is the brother of a big Hollywood movie star, Tamae (Yoshiko Okada), who is returning that day to Japan for the first time in years, and Keiji and Gen see their chance for the big time as flunkies for Tamae. Her reason for returning home is to reclaim her daughter, Shigeko (Toshiko Kojima), whom she abandoned shortly after her birth. Her husband, Shunsaku (Shin'yo Nara), remarried, and his new wife, Masako (Yukiko Tsukuba), has proved to be a devoted mother to the little girl. Unfortunately, Shunsaku's business is about to go under, owing to his bad management and some shady deals that get him sent to prison. His mother, Kishiyo (Fumiko Katsuragi), is bitter about not only his business failure but also because this means they'll have to move out of their big house into a poor neighborhood. So when Tamae comes in search of her child, Kishiyo takes her side against Masako, leading to an intense battle between the birth mother and the one who is ... well, that's the point of the title. Masako fortunately has a defender, Masaya Kusakabe, whose relationship to the family is enigmatic: He's just returned from Manchuria, and since he's played by the handsome Joji Oka -- a sharp contrast to the plain and dour Shunsaku -- we begin to suspect that there's more to his relationship with Masako than meets the eye, though that part of the plot never pans out. No Blood Relation is a very effective tearjerker, with Naruse's characteristically hyperactive camera panning and dollying and zooming in to provide emphasis at key moments, and it shows Naruse's mastery of silent filmmaking, carrying the story without an overabundance of intertitles.
