At least once a week, Suna brought his children out in the yard to play some volleyball.
His son was practising to be a setter (Atsumu’s influence, it’s a sensitive topic for Suna), while his daughter spiked his sets.
That’s perfect because Suna got an insane confidence boost from blocking for them.
Sometimes, when they were really trying, he let them earn some points so that he can watch them practice their celebrations. It always brought a smile to his face.
“If you make the next one, we’ll go to Super Nintendo World next week.”
They screamed in excitement, making you peek into the yard and find a seat to watch them.
Your son focused hard as your daughter threw up the ball before doing the run-up, grinning excitedly as she watched the perfect set he put up for her.
Copying her dad’s technique, she leaned sideways in an attempt to avoid his block.
Suna watched with pride, almost regretting his plot.
As the ball crossed over the net, his hand was already there to stop it, making it fall to the ground on the kids’ side. “That’s the harsh reality of life, kiddos. I want you to get familiar with this feeling: It’s called disappointment.”
They screamed again, this time angrily, before storming under the net and jumping him, hauling him to the ground when he didn’t fight back.
You laughed from the porch, holding your stomach. That’s definitely the father of your children.

who’s the cute boy with the thick accent? | a.miya
pairing: college student!miya atsumu x gn!reader | sfw | cw: cursing, atsumu being annoying, not proofread | genre: fluff ig ? | wc: 453 | masterlist
synopsis -> ATSUMU MIYA loves when people play hard to get. It’s well-known across campus that he loves the thrill of the chase. So, when he suddenly takes interest in you in the middle of the library, you know exactly what to do.
Tumblr media
“I’m trying to study, Miya,” you chide coolly to your university’s star setter, who’s decided to sit right across from you when there’s a dozen other empty tables he could have sat at. You stare down at your textbook, avoiding his piercing gaze.
“C’mon,” he coos, leaning in closer. You feel the air thicken, and it’s suffocating, “Ya can call me by my first name. I ain’t gonna bite.”
He claims he won’t, but his silky and persuasive tone, almost daring you to give in and look at him, suggests otherwise. Deep down, you know you’re just another prize to him— a challenge he’ll forget soon after he overcomes it. Knowing this is the only thing that holds you back from succumbing to his overwhelming charm.
You bite the inside of your cheek, trying to keep your gaze focused on the words in front of you instead of him, “I’d rather not. Thanks, though.”
He feigns an exaggerated pout for a moment before replacing it with a smug smile, “Yer really gonna say no to me?” He props his head on the table to look up at you teasingly, forcing himself into your eye view, “Yer actin’ like it’s a dirty word. ‘S just my name, ya know.”
While you know he’s only playing with you, your heart pitter-patters. Unintentionally, your gaze flickers down to his forearms resting on the table. His arms are toned and muscular, a reminder of his athletic prowess. You may be trying to ignore his advances, but you’re not blind. You’re all too aware of his stupidly cute Kansai accent, and the way his golden hair seems to glow when the sun hits it just right. It drives you crazy.
Years of practice have clearly made him a professional at knowing exactly how to push people’s buttons, and you’re no exception. You don’t want to give in. You don’t want to feel anything for him. But the way you haven’t absorbed a word of information from your textbook since he sat down is evidence enough of his affect.
If he was just another pretty face, maybe it would be different, but he has these alluring eyes that draw you in, making you forget all your inhibitions with the way they glimmer bright with a dangerous mischief.
The corner of your lips twitch into a slight smile, betraying the dirty look that you’re trying to give him, and he smiles as if he’s already won.
You’re totally fucked.
Tumblr media
—a/n: atsumu sucks (i need him so bad). wrote this while bored at work lol. also drafted a scene from his pov. maybe i’ll post it idk!

Atsumu Miya: Second Choice
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~2.2k, fluff
• You were never first choice, so it comes as a surprise when he notices your presence before anyone else.
Warnings: None
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
It was always the same, you'd watched as people flocked to beauty, straight past you every time. In reality when you became friends with Sachiko it was because she had a great personality, you couldn't have possibly predicted she'd become the most beautiful and popular girl in school by the time you'd reached Inarizaki High.
Regardless of her sparkling status, she remained your best friend and you'd usually be found together throughout the school premises along with anyone else who joined you at the start of first year.
When the Volleyball team grew more intoxicating, it was Sachiko who'd excitedly dragged you along to one of their home training matches. It's where you first laid eyes upon the famous Miya twins, a vicious team of spiker and setter with a serve worthy of award among them. Already they had personal fans and the cheer squad screaming their praises, you're surprised they didn't get mauled in the hallways.
Now you'd seen them, you recognised them in school and they apparently had space to breathe aside from the odd confession here and there. You'd regularly seen that with Sachiko though, she'd often be either pulled to the side or you'd bear witness to some lovestruck soul gushing their heart out for her.
It was humbling in a way, you were the one who goes unnoticed but notices everything. Including if feelings were reciprocated, and you're certain you deducted gossip before it even became that, you'd been getting accurate in predicting things lately. However, you never predicted one of them to notice you.
Especially him.
"Hey, ya in one of my classes right?" In honesty you didn't even realise it was you this voice was addressing since Sachiko lingered by your side, not until a careful tap drew your attention to the blonde twin rather than your locker.
"Huh? Oh I think so, it hasn't been long enough to learn everyone's name yet. You're the volleyball player though."
"Ah, have ya seen me play? Like it?" His head tilted in curiosity, proud smirk upon his lips.
"You were really good, you have great form when you serve." With that you nodded to him, slipping on your shoes and walking off with your best friend quickly following in tow.
"Woah— wait up!" You didn't even look back in the swarm of leaving students. "I didn't get yer name..."
———
It wasn't until a week or so later did he 'confidently' interact with you again, this time his call far more effective in hailing your attention.
"(L/n) (Y/n)!"
Immediately you spun to the origin, finding none other than Miya Atsumu dodging a group of fangirls rather effortlessly on his way to you.
"You know my name."
"Yeah 'course. You know who I am so it's only fair." It was surefire charisma, one you'd soon extinguish.
"Miya Osamu isn't it?"
"Ye—Hey?! YA GOTTA BE KIDDIN'!"
"'Tsumu shut ya mouth!" The namesake twin glared harshly at his counterpart, quickly flashing a calmer look when you'd addressed him.
"Ah, hey Miya-san. I apologise, that was my fault for winding your brother up."
"Dumbass has control of his own mouth." Osamu politely assured, meanwhile Atsumu reclaimed your peripheral with a childish pout.
"So ya knew ma name all along and decided to be freakin' mean about it? On our second meetin' too."
"I couldn't resist, you're so cute when you're mad."
"I'm— oh ya think I'm cute?" Atsumu stammered slightly, your smirk only widening upon noting the crimson tips of his ears. Honesty leaving your lips soon after.
"I think you're both handsome, as does a majority of the school body. See you Miya-san and Miy—"
"Call me Atsumu!"
"See you in class, Atsumu." You actually looked back this time, an unfamiliar and unexpected feeling flourishing within you.
———
Part of you wandered if it’d be different this time, maybe you’d found someone who was there for you and not Sachiko. Just this once. You’d spoken more in class, studied together, traded snacks, and genuinely became friends over the course of two months.
Ironically it was the same blonde who tugged you from your reverie at the your locker where you’d first spoken.
"Yer friends with Sachiko aren't ya?"
This was it, the moment you realised he was just like all others and for the first time in a long while, you were truly disappointed.
"Yes I am, and she is amazing."
"I'm aware, could ya introduce me?" He’d spoked so casually, completely unawares of the charade you donned.
"What? Too scared to introduce yourself?" Atsumu was taken aback by your mockery, smirk growing as you persisted. "She doesn't bite y'know, that's my job."
This was the second time you'd left him speechless, slamming your locker door and disappearing into the halls with a wave.
From then on you'd see them happily talking to one another, it was hard seeing them together, amusing considering you'd only known the blonde not even half the year, yet you'd liked him more than you considered possible.
The first time you'd walked into the classroom finding the pair conversing at her desk, it was like Atsumu was desperately trying to convince her of something. It was only for a brief moment but when the setter turned to see you with a suddenly concerned look, you realised you hadn't worn a facade. You were meant to smile, instead you must've looked saddened - briskly you offered a weak smirk, and span to leave the room with additional flare as to minimise suspicion.
You’d only made it three steps down the hallway when a grasp on your wrist limited your escape.
"Hey you okay?"
"Yes? Why wouldn't I be?" Came your upbeat response, even if he portrayed a careful worrisome look on his handsome features.
"Ya... ya looked upset."
"Really? Are you sure?"
"I'm observant y'know, gotta be fer volleyball so yeah, I noticed your little slip." He was more forward this time, gesturing to you with a tilt of his head - even if he was head over heels for Sacchan, at least he still genuinely cared about you.
"It's nothing, just realised I've got a test today and that's depressing enough." You thought it was acceptably convincing, though the calculating gaze he'd locked onto yours made you reconsider.
“(Y/n) I know I can be annoyin’ but I’ll do anything I can to help y—“
“I’m fine.” You instantly corrected, reaffirmation following. “I’m fine, Atsumu.”
A gentle pat on his chest told him not to worry, and the nod you gave said you wanted to be alone. So, he let you walk away, your wrist slipping from his grip.
———
Even weirder than the smitten pair hanging out was that your conversations with Sachiko seemed to revolve around him too. Which by your deductions, meant he’d certainly made more of an impression on her than anyone else recently. Maybe Atsumu really had a shot with her…
"Atsumu is so hot isn't he?"
"I guess he keeps in shape, he has to if he wants to improve his skills."
"Uh yes... his hair suits him though, brings out the colour of his eyes~" She gleamed, searching for your reaction and once more her face dramatically dropped at the deadpan reply.
"Makes him easier to differentiate from Osamu."
"True, but I'm asking if you find him attractive?!" Her impatience had gotten the better of her, voice raised slightly out of desperation.
"Isn't that a question you should ask yourself? I haven't heard you go on about a boy this much since middle school." You quipped, raising a quizzical brow at her.
"It's not like th—"
"Oh hey! Sachiko, (Y/n), you wanna come to practice today?" Atsumus’ hollering tone interrupted the conversation, the blonde strolling into your classroom like he belonged there.
"Yes, we'd love to." Sachiko of course was ecstatic to agree, why would she say no since he’s ’so attractive’. Yourself on the other hand had replicated the Thor meme perfectly…
"Would we though?"
"Yeah ya would! C'mon~" You hadn't the chance to protest further when Atsumus' hands clamped your shoulders steering you in the direction of the gymnasium with a giggling Sachiko skipping behind.
———
When Atsumu had asked you to meet him after school before practice started toward the end of the year, you expected something food related or about homework answers, not whatever this was.
Here he stood, flowers in hand and apparently a homemade bento box offered to you with a growing blush painting his handsome features and an aura of flustering about him which was unusual in itself.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm— isn't it obvious?!"
"I have literally no idea what's going through your thick skull, Sachiko will like the flowers though." You answered honestly, crossing your arms.
"They're not for her!"
"Oh... Suna...?"
Atsumus brows furrowed at your wit, shaking his head with a huff.
"Alright ya got me, they're for Sachiko. Yer gonna deliver them since yer her best friend. Thanks and make sure ya eat some of the bento 'cuz there's stuff yer will like in it. Later!" He basically threw the flowers at you and pushed the bento box into your chest prior to storming toward the exit.
You stood dumbfounded, flicking between the two items when he placed his forehead against the door with a defeated sigh and spun on his heel.
“Go! Go on, the team are here and I don’t want ya getting hit with a face full of leather and petals.” He’d stubbornly commented, ushering you out of the gym.
Still, you shouldered your sadness, wearing false confidence like your favourite outfit as you went to find your friend (completely oblivious to the embarrassed mess whining to his teammates inside).
Sachiko squealed when she saw you, leaving her work unattended and rushing to your side admiring your haul.
"It finally happened! Oh my goodness!"
"Yeah yeah, blondie came through congratulations." You boredly spoke, placing the items down whilst she basically vibrated with pure joy.
"Congratulations indeed! Are you happy?"
"Eh. He did say we should share the lunch."
"That's... weird?" Sachikos’ prior energy disappeared as she looked to you in confusion.
"I know, that's what I thought. Apparently there's things I like in it."
"Well obviously. Atsumu made it for you."
"No, he made it for you."
A moment of silence passed, yourself and Sachiko locked in a puzzled stare off.
"Nah, let's be honest, Osamu probably made it~" You dismissively waved your hand once placing the items on her desk, although it was only you who found humour in the situation.
"No (Y/n) I'm serious! Atsumu has been asking me about you and your preferences for months and I've been super excited about it. He even wanted me to find out if you liked him or not —of course IF I found out, I would've kept it to myself— but he really likes you."
"I thought he was into you, I mean everyone is into you." You adamantly justified, as if it explained everything but Sachiko was just as passionate.
"Not him, why do you think he keeps asking you to practices or bugging you every 5 minutes?"
"To get close to you? I don't know."
"No! To get close to you!"
Widened eyes and a look of pure shock told Sachiko her words had finally resonated with you, the truth burned brightly and she could only smile as you ran.
Abandoned were the flowers as you dashed through the halls and came to a skidding halt before the gymnasium - fingertips hesitantly pausing against the door upon hearing Atsumus' cursing whines.
"I didn't even get to say! They just ran off to Sachiko!"
“Ya literally said ‘Go’.” Osamus voice maybe?
“Yeah well, I don’t ever wanna walk away from (Y/n), but it feels like they’re always walking away from me…” Atsumu trailed off, more emotion than you thought lacing his words.
"Maybe ya shouldn't have lied?" That was definitely Arans’ blunt advisory tone.
"I had no choice! They were lookin' at me with their stupid pretty eyes and askin' if it was for Sacchan and I didn't wanna disappoint 'em."
"Yer an idiot." Osamu gladly highlighted, the perfect moment to walk in and make your presence known you decided.
"I know! But—"
"Atsumu?" At the sound of your call, the entity of the team turned in your direction, the setter being the first to respond.
"Huh?! (Y/n) what are you doing here?"
Osamu and the rest of Inarizaki seemed to understand the underlying tension and were quick to evacuate the area.
"I came to tell you that Sachiko liked the flowers." You awkwardly started, Atsumu running fingers through his hair with a quiet voice.
"Oh, right."
"As did I, and I think I'd like to get you something in return."
"Eh?"
"She told me what was going on." You filled in, hands behind your back fiddling with your fingers.
"She's lying! I do not like you at all, let alone find you attractive or anything!"
Much like you predicted, he'd jumped to conclusions and had inadvertently dropped himself in it and exposed the truth Sachiko had enclosed which earned your witty reply.
"Funny, I never mentioned anything about liking me. That’s good to know~"
"Wait— then what?" Atsumu defused, utterly confused and blushing.
"And it's a shame, I was about to confess my feelings for you but I see there's no need since you 'don't like me at all'." You shrugged haphazardly, a hint of sarcasm lacing your tone but it was your statement that revitalised his spark. Enough to abruptly skid in front of you with a commendable justification when you’d started to turn around.
"You still can, nothin' to lose and all that." A half smile was sent to you, hazel eyes meeting yours. “And please, don’t walk away from me this time.”
"I didn’t want— I mean I—“ A wistful sigh escaped you, confession imminent. “I really like you Atsumu, you're both an incredible player and a cool person so I’m glad I got to tell you that.”
“I like ya too (Y/n)! So much, and I feel more confident playing when ya come and watch. Yer smile really hypes me up y’know. If yer up for it, I’d love to spend more time with ya.”
"Yeah, I’d like that."
That evening, he’d offered to walk you home and there was still one thing you wanted to say after all that.
“Hey Atsumu?” A hum signified his attention. “Thank you for noticing me."
"Noticing ya?"
"Yeah, I just… I appreciate it."
"No I mean, noticing ya? I haven't noticed anyone else since I met ya."

sakusa kiyoomi x f!reader
a/n: saw a fanart of chibi sakusa and this came to mind so i just had to write this out to get it out of my head 🫠 sorry if my writing's not perfect i wrote this in like an hour HAHAHDHDJSJSHD
cw: FLUFF, parenting au, atsumu being annoying
wc: 586
Tumblr media
Kiyoomi had always expressed how much he wanted your kids to have your features - from your hair, your eyes, your smile, your laugh, he wanted them to inherit everything about you. He essentially wanted his kids to be mini clones of you, the person he loved and admired the most in the world.
However, when your first child was born, it was pretty clear that she'd take after her father. Immediately, you noticed birth marks at almost the exact same spot as her father, and as she grew older, her hair started to curl at the ends just like her father's. Unsurprisingly, they had similar personalities too. She was probably the most educated six year old when it came to personal and public hygiene.
And when Reina's little brother was born, you swore they could be twins. That is, if you ignored the eight year age gap between them. Akimitsu, like his sister, took after Kiyoomi. He had the same dark curly hair and sharp eyes as his father, but one difference between him and his sister was that he had a much more outgoing personality. Even at six months old, he was already smiling, laughing, pointing and waving at everyone he passes by.
Today was no different. Strapped to his father's chest, Akimitsu was excitedly pointing towards his older sister practising volleyball in front of him and babbling incoherently. Next to him, the one and only Miya Atsumu was seated on the bench watching his twin boys practice their volleyball skills with Reina. You watched as your husband fished out a pack of tissues and wiped away the drool on his baby's chin.
"Dude, what's up with your sets today? Even Reina can't spike your shit sets and she's a better spiker than me!" Ryūjin exclaimed, pointing accusingly at his brother.
"Shut yer trap, Ryū! Yer just jealous 'cause my sets are still better than yours!" Ryōta retorted. Turning to his friend, he apologised, "Sorry, Reina, I'll work on my sets."
Reina scrunched her face in slight annoyance but acknowledged her friend.
"Y'know, Omi-kun, yer daughter somehow looks even more like you when she does that," Atsumu chortled.
Confused, Kiyoomi looked up at the blonde setter. "Does what?"
"THAT!" Atsumu screeched, pointing at Kiyoomi's face, which was, of course, scrunched up like his daughter's. Kiyoomi hurriedly covered his son's ears at the sheer volume of Atsumu's outburst.
"Will ya keep it down? My kid's gonna go deaf at this rate," Kiyoomi huffed, glaring at Atsumu. The latter sheepishly apologised.
"But for real though, your kids are basically your clones," Atsumu continued, "Guess ya don't have to worry about 'em not bein' yours, right?"
That earned him a hard slap on the back of his head by both you and Kiyoomi.
"THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?" Atsumu cried, rubbing the back of his head to relieve the pain.
"Excuse me, sir, what are you insinuating?" You spouted, glaring at him. For all the years you had known him — since high school, to be exact —Atsumu had never failed to come up with the most insensitive lines.
"I'm just sayin'! It's cute that yer kids look so much like you!" Atsumu sulked.
"No shit they're mine, baka," Kiyoomi grumbled, the annoyed scrunch once again making an appearance on his face.
Hearing a fit of giggles, you all turned to Akimitsu who was pointing at Atsumu with a gummy smile on his face.
"Ba...Baka!"
The six month old happily clapped and cheered as Atsumu was left dumbfounded.
Tumblr media
a/n: sakusa’s children would 100% inherit his curly hair YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE like it’s literally so cute. they’d have the same scrunched face when they’re annoyed AND IT'S FREAKING ADORABLE anyway i titled this one ctrl C ctrl V for obvious reasons HAHA

LOVEBUG — bokuto kotaro x reader
you don't mean to be dramatic. it's the morning of valentine's day, and you're sure that the majority of your apartment complex is still asleep. but you could feel your skin crawling, goosebumps rising as a chill ran down your back. there was something strange in the air, a feeling of not being entirely alone—there was a bug loose in your living room.
because of course on the one day of the year dedicated to love you're stuck spending it with a creepy critter.
a piercing screech leaves you when you see the thing skitter across your floor with alarming speed. you jump onto your sofa, abandoning your coffee for safety. bugs couldn't climb . . . could they?
wrong. they very much could, and it was crawling straight at you.
you came tumbling out of your apartment with a yelp, not paying attention to the fact you were dressed only in your pajamas. you didn't even have shoes on, but surely your neighbors could turn a blind eye if they saw you.
"are you okay?"
he's gorgeous (and somewhat familiar). light hair with streaks of black, he's the vision of beauty, and . . . you're in hello kitty jammies barefoot in the hallway. he's staring at you unfazed by your choice in outfit, seeming more concerned than anything, while the man besides him is giving you a curious look.
"i'm—" and you paused because you weren't exactly fine. you were fighting a battle against an enemy that measured less than an inch, and you were losing. "actually you seem strong. can you help me?"
the man blinks before he breaks out into a smile. "what sort of man would i be if i didn't help out someone in need? i'm bokuto."
"hi bokuto, there's a bug loose in my apartment."
you watch him as he carefully enters your place. he takes off his shoes at the door, and you direct him to the living room as you trail behind him. his friend waits patiently outside as if this were normal occurrence between the two to be sidetracked like this. you wonder if it is.
bokuto spots the bug immediately, and he takes an empty plastic cup from the table near you—one of the disposable ones. he traps the thing with ease and slides a piece of paper under so he can move the makeshift cage.
"is it mean if i flush it down a toilet?"
you blink. "considering i sprayed it with half a bottle of bug spray earlier . . . no."
he laughs, and you feel yourself melt a little. he does indeed flush it down the toilet, and you pray it doesn't come back to bite you in the ass—literally.
bokuto heads to the door while you try to muster the courage to ask him for his number, but he pauses at your desk with a small smile. it's a mess of papers, but he points specifically to the paper hanging by your calendar.
"you a fan of volleyball?"
you glance at your adlers mini-poster. "i'm a fan of the adlers. kageyama tobio is an insanely talented setter."
he laughs again, but this time there's an air of knowing amusement. "and what about miya atsumu?"
"what about him? he's fine."
bokuto almost can't contain himself. "not a fan of the black jackals, then." he shrugs. "guess i can change your mind over dinner. are you doing anything tonight?"
you pretend to ponder for a moment despite knowing you have nothing planned for tonight. "i'm not."
"great, i'll pick you up around seven."
there's a knock at your door, and the two of you are reminded that bokuto wasn't here alone. his friend's voice filters through your door just as you go to open it for him.
"sorry to interrupt, but bokuto-san, you're going to be late for practice."
you stop. "practice?"
"oh, did i not mention? bokuto kotaro, outside hitter for the msby jackals."

。. ˚oikawa husband hcs
Tumblr media
wc: 0.6k content warning: post-time skip, fluff, goofy silly husband oikawa, not proofread
っ ᐟ˒𓂂
-Oikawa, the type of husband to love to just hold your hand. Everytime he does though, he always looks at it to admire the ring he picked out for you the moment he knew you were the one. He can't help but smile and kiss the small gem while admiring the luck.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to absolutely love laughing with you. It's not that he likes laughing but more of hearing you laugh with him. He enjoys silly little moments where you get to laugh off a small mistake or just simple tickle fights.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to plan little "slumber parties" with you. He'd go out his way to buy little pouches of face masks and cut up little cucumbers for your eyes. While you're at it, Oikawa would also enjoy baking cookies to eat while you both binge-watch your current favorite shows. He loves doing little fun activities like these because you both get a chance to unwind and relax together.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to probably gossip with you about his volleyball team and old friends like how he met Hinata in Brazil. He loves telling you about his volleyball career as well since it's a big part of who he is and he appreciates how you love every version of him.. especially when you're real invested in the short volleyball gossip sessions.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to love ruining your cute couple selfies by making the goofiest faces mid pic until you get serious. Don't get me wrong, he enjoys taking selfies. But what he enjoys most is the memory behind the photos.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to give you his all. Every small effort he puts into you for instance, making you a simple breakfast. He puts every little thought into every action. Do you like bacon? He'd sizzle a fresh batch for you. Do you like your eggs whole or scrambled with salt and pepper? If you don't he wouldn't cook it that way. He remembers every little detail without you even realizing it.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to give you the best shoulder massages when you're having one of those days. He'd immediately notice your slight shift in energy and tell you to sit down in front of him while his fingers work that setter magic, relieving all the pent up stress and freeing up your tensed muscles while he reassures you with his comforting words.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to love going out on dates with you. He enjoys planning them, calling restaurants, booking flights, and overall going above and beyond for a good time with the one he loves the most. He truly loves to spoil you. He'd enjoy taking you out to foreign countries where you both can bask in the ambiance of new land where it's just you two.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to be a complete fatass for the food you cook. Doesn't matter if you're a bad or a good chef, he genuinely likes that you enjoy cooking for him. Every meal he eats, he can feel the love that you cooked it with every bite that just gets better. He's stuffing his cheeks full like a hamster to the point where he'd accidentally end up choking for water.
-Oikawa, the type of husband to definitely send you reels while he's out for work. He'd for sure be watching them and laugh when reading the comment section to the point where he has to send you the reels and sends screenshots of the comments he found the funniest. Oikawa would quite literally laugh in your dms saying stuff like "LOL HINATA DID THIS ONCE"

Pairing- Yandere Bokuto x Reader MasterList
"But to Bokuto. It’s not just a crush, it’s love."
A/N- this is one of my drafts, so this is shorter than most of my work (might make a longer ver. of this fic in the future!)
Tumblr media
Everyone knows Boktuo probably has a crush on you. The topic of Bokuto’s childish crush on you is spoken like taboo. There is a nonverbal agreement between the entire MSBY to refrain from acknowledging it because of its harmless yearning.
While Boktuo’s a great guy, the idea of getting into another workplace relationship sounds displeasing to you since your last one ended in a disaster, causing you to quit your job due to the uncomfortable work environment.
That’s why you pray he doesn’t ask you to dinner or anything romantic related because the sight of a heartbroken Bokuto would haunt your dreams. But that is your future problem-At present, Bokuto seems to be ignorant of his feelings because if he did, he wouldn’t hesitate to show up to practice, a bouquet in his hands, confessing his attraction towards you.
Thankfully in the present, Bokuto just thinks of you as a good friend- a good friend who he can’t get enough of, a good friend who he wants to spend all his time with. Sure- sometimes he gets a little moody when he catches you hanging around other people but that’s just a normal thing for good friends to feel right? Right?
He’s doing it again, he’s completely ignoring every responsibility he has so he can talk to you. The second you step into the gymnasium, he’s at your side so fast that you think he teleported. Bokuto would start blathering about the more random things, details about his day, his plans for the weekend, and family events. But he always complimented your appearance, regardless of whether you thought you looked like a mess. The conversation was getting too long.
You could see in the background that Atsumu was getting impatient, hands on his hips as his foot repeatedly tapped the ground.
A setter needs to train with their team. But Atsumu can’t exactly do that if his teammate is busy chatting up their manager. “Bokuto, that sounds really great but shouldn’t you get back to pratice?” you told Bokuto, trying to solve the issue.
Boktuo tilted his head, a naive smile on his lips as he said “It’s fine, we can talk for five more minutes. Atsumu can wait.”
That was Atsumu's last straw, his eyebrows furrowing as his fingers curled into a fist at his side.
“Bokuto, could ya please stop flirting with your little girlfriend? Get yer ass back to the court, we have a game coming to prepare for” Atsumu huffed. You glance at Bokuto, noticing his dazed expression, it seems like gears in his brain are finally turning.
“Girl-friend?”Bokuto uttered in disbelief, his arms slumped forward. When his yellow eyes looked back at you, you noticed a slight blush crawling on his face, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he gulped.
“Bokuto-”
“I gotta pratice now, Y/n. Talk to you later” Bokuto interrupted, dashing back to the court. You looked at Atsumu, giving him the most pissed-off look because judging by Boktuo's sudden change in emotion- from happy-go-lucky to a bashful blushing ace,
It looks like he finally realized why your friendship was so different from others.
But to Bokuto. It’s not just a crush, it’s love.
It’s all that stupid setter’s fault that Bokuto is acting all weird in front of you. The second pratice ends, you’re pulling Atsumu by his ear, dragging him to the locker room so you can curse at him.
“You just had to use the word ‘girlfriend.’ You ruined this whole thing, Miya” you shouted, cornering the blonde hair setter against a locker.
“Sorry- Sorry, c’mon it was in the heat of the moment” Atsumu huffed, averting his eyes in embarrassment.
“God- I’m going to have to break that poor boy’s heart because of you” you sighed. “What’cha mean by that?” Atsumu asked.
“Well, knowing Bokuto- he’s probably going to ask me on a date. But I’ve kinda..sworn off of workplace romances permanently” you answered, the anger in your tone slowly fading.
Atsumu took a moment to think before opening his mouth,
“We can’t have him acting all heartbroken right now- a match is coming up and I seriously cannot set to a depressed Bokuto….So just make sure he can’t ask ya out then” Atsumu suggested.
“What do you mean by that” you questioned, unsure of what he was trying to get at. “Avoid him till this little crush burns out. If that doesn’t work, it won’t hurt to get a boyfriend, y’know?” Atsumu added.
You punched Atsumu’s arm for his last suggestion causing him to hiss.
“You’re an asshole but avoiding him for a little while isn’t such a bad idea” you hummed. “Does that mean I’m forgiven” Atsumu huffed, rubbing his sore forearm. “For now” you replied.
Avoiding Bokuto was a lot harder than you expected it to be. When he attempted to greet you at practice, you’d straightforwardly tell him “ I have to go schedule the hotel reservations for the out-of-state game,” or you’d mention another responsibility you must fill.
Either way, he would let out a noticeable pout every time you walked away, mumbling a weak “okay then.”
Then he’s trying to get your attention after practice, a nervous but excited expression on his face as he stands in front of you but you don’t let him utter a single word before reminding him that you have to go home quickly to do some laundry.
‘Laundry? Was laundry really more important than him?’
Bokuto wondered. He doesn’t understand why the love of his life is acting so strange. Maybe you’re not feeling well? Or you’re stressed.
Either way, Bokuto is showing up at your door, holding a gift basket, a big grin on his lips.
“Bokuto? What's all of this” you asked, awkwardly as you opened the door for him.
“ Figured you’ve been stressed recently that’s why you’ve been acting so distant, so I made ya a little self-care basket.” Bokuto beamed, proudly holding the basket of assorted goods. Everything in that basket is expensive, you can tell by the popular brands of each bottle of lotion, candles, and sweets.
“ Thank you, Bokuto. But you didn’t have to do this” you responded, calmly as you carefully took the basket from his hand, trying your best not to come in contact with his fingertips.
“I don’t mind doing these things if it’s for you. I’m pretty sure I’d do anything for you” Bokuto laughed bashfully.
“ Well.. goodnight.” You mumbled, trying to close the door, but his foot interrupted its closing.
“ Actually, I was kinda meaning to ask you something”
Fuck- here it is, the moment you’ve been dreading.
“Y/n, after hearing what ‘Tsumu said on the court the other day, it kinda got me wondering about somethings” Bokuto commented, a bashful grin across his lips.
“W-what kind of things” you stuttered, trying to put up a fake smile as mentally you were dreading the worst.
“I think I wouldn’t mind- I wouldn’t at all mind being able to call you my girlfriend” Bokuto confessed.
Fuck- what do you do? He’ll be too upset to play for his match next week if you reject him. You’d be lying to him if you accepted his feelings and hurt him more when you admit the truth.
“Bokuto- I don’t think we should get into this conversation, it might distract you from your game that’s coming up” you suggested.
Bokuto leans his face closer to yours, only a centimeter apart causing your heart to race. “You look so nervous, Y/n” he pointed out, his fingers brushing over the apples of your cheeks.
“And your cheeks… they feel so hot” he mumbled. “I-it’s nothing important, I’m fine You responded, swatting his hand away from your face, adverting your eyes from his unmoving glare.
“At first I didn’t completely understand why you’ve been pushing me away, Y/n. But now I understand. It’s because you feel the same and you’re nervous about dating another co-worker. But I’m not like that guy, Y/n. I’d never treat you like trash. I’d never let you go” Bokuto confessed. He’s getting excited- too excited because he’s come up with a false reality where you’d reciprocated his feelings.
“Bokuto, I’m sorry but I don’t- I don’t feel the same and I don’t think I ever will” you replied being forced to ruin his dream. His entire demeanor changes at your words. It was like a switch flipped in his brain. Once standing in front of you with a big grin now morphed into an emotionless expression, eyes dulling burning holes into you, fist clenched at his side.
“Are you saying I’m wrong?” Bokuto asked, trying to find out if he heard you correctly.
“I’m saying I don’t have romantic feelings for you, Bokuto. B-but I really cherish our friendship and I don’t mind still being friends after this” you responded.
“I don’t want that. I don’t want to be friends” Bokuto commented, his hand curling over your doorframe, pushing himself into your apartment, every step he took forward caused you to walk backward.
“Bokuto, stop it- you’re scaring me,” you remarked, heart skipping as your back pressed against the wall. “I like you so much, Y/n. I really do and I think you could too. I just need to show you how good I can be to you-
For you”

SECRET SANTA DILEMMA — atsumu miya
pairing; atsumu miya x reader wordcount; 1,116 [rewritten fics]
main masterlist
in the hallowed halls of inarizaki high school, the onset of december brought with it a flurry of festive activities. among them was the annual secret santa exchange, a cherished tradition that turned the mundane routine of academia into a delicate dance of anticipation and surprise.
you found yourself contemplating the small slip of paper you had drawn from the hat earlier. and you swore your luck is toying with you right now.
'atsumu miya'
the name inscribed on it was none other than atsumu miya, the charismatic and enigmatic setter of the school's renowned volleyball team. the wrinkle on your forehead could have stick permanently with the way you furrowed your brow to the extent. you can't do this, you thought.
though your paths often crossed in the shared spaces of your classroom, you and atsumu had scarcely exchanged words, existing in the silent proximity of parallel lines. yeah, you're not doing this. maybe you could exchange it with someone else, maybe even charge them while you do so! which crazy person gonna let this chance of spoiling atsumu miya with their gifts fly away? a sly smile crept across your lips as the idea formed in your mind.
however, a part of you is greedy. you felt a sense of victory, having atsumu miya all to yourself—not quite, but close. that part of you wanted to boast about how fortunate you are, but you quickly discarded the feelings as you folded the piece of paper back into your pocket.
you just hope you dont make a fool of yourself in front of him.
the days leading up to the exchange were marked by a series of clandestine observations and subtle inquiries. you hoped he hadn't noticed, because you sure do feel like a creep. throughout your 'observations for pertinent analysis', you are able to conclude one conclusion, that is— atsumu miya is so different than what people (and you) perceived him to be.
how do you even explain this?
well, firstly, you thought he was just some common typical rowdy teenage boy. but you were proved wrong the moment you noticed atsumu's affinity for unique stationery, often catching glimpses of his meticulously organized notebook adorned with vibrant colors and intricate designs. you think its adorable.
secondly, you thought he's a player. being famous means having a lot of fangirls and having a lot of fangirls means he has a lot of options to choose and date. hence, he's a player— according to your logic. but the wrong buzzer shrieks inside your head, loud and deafening. he doesn't even have a girlfriend! you feel guilty for eavesdropping, but you just happen to be there at the same time as the girl confesses to atsumu, in which he turned her down with politeness utmost to the girl.
" 'm sorry, i appreciate the admiration ya have for me, but i wouldnt be able to return the feelings for ya," he said, the softness in his voice was like a balm, soothing and calming, so tender yet so heavy with emotion. if sincerity were visible to the eye, you would likely be dazzled at this.
holy shit, you can't even be mad if atsumu talks to you like that.
lastly, you thought of atsumu as tough, inside and out— but in a negative way. like lacking compassions and have an unyielding stubbornness. but oh boy the 'wrong' streak doesn't break. you were really questioning if you're the bad guy here for making false assumption about someone you barely know.
you didn't mean to eavesdrop (again). really, you just happened to be there. you can hear atsumu's voice, soft and wavering but laced with choked sobs. and you can't lie that your heart clenches at the raw vulnerability of his tone. "ma... pa... 'm really trying my best," atsumu's voice trembled, barely audible. "but it's so hard, no matter how much i study, the effort just doesn't seem to be paying off,"
you heard atsumu's parents' soothing voices through the phone, though the words were indistinct. gradually, atsumu's sobs subsided, replaced by deep, steadying breaths.
you'll leave him alone for now.
on the day of exchange, mark the end of the operation of observing your gift receiver— or who you call atsumu. you had hoped he doesn't shame your gifts infront of everyone— not that he would, but just in case. during the last few days of analysing atsumu, you had slipped something so crucial out of your mind, and that is atsumu comes from an affluent family. seriously, you really hope he didnt throw your gift away, because you sure did spend a whopping money on it.
as the gift were distributed, the classroom buzzed with excitement and curiousity. you were getting anxious; you couldn't even stay still. what you didn't expect was you and atsumu exchanged presents, a moment of recognition passed between the two of you, a silent acknowledgement of the effort and though each had invested. so that means he's your secret santa too. you don't know what deity blessed you with this luck, but you think you probably has used all your fortunes for this occasion.
"thank you.." you said softly, eyes sparkling with genuine appreciation as you unwrapped a ridiculously beautiful, knitted cardigan. the cardigan was a cozy embrace, its soft, knitted fabric woven with intricate pattern and in your favorite colors too. "you- did you- made this?" you asked, noticing how everything about the cardigan hinted at the craftsmanship behind it.
atsumu looks away, hand rubbing the back of his neck. "yeah... i hope its... not bad to ya,"
"are you crazy? this is the best thing ever!" you exclaimed in happiness, a big smile etched on your face.
atsumu's lips curved into a warm smile. "im glad ya like it. i figured it might be something ya would enjoy," he says, tone delicate yet earnest. as he spoke, his voice wrapped around you like a tender embrace, making you feel cherished and deeply appreciated. "and these are perfect," atsumu added, admiring the aesthetically pleasing journal book with some sticker packs. "i've been needing something like this,"
what began as a simple exchange of gifts, blossomed into a feeling you never thought you'd have for atsumu. it was as fate had gently woven your hearts together with the delicate threads of serendipity. your eyes found atsumu's, and it was like as winter gave way to spring, and the world around you blossomed anew, so did your feelings for atsumu.
you hoped the glimmer of love in your eyes went unnoticed, for fear that atsumu would think you were peculiar— just as atsumu silently prayed you wouldn't notice the same in his.

warnings - fluff, vague description of volleyball matches (i apologize in advance)
author's note: a little self-indulgent fic. this is for all my volleyball girlies who dreamed of playing with the haikyuu boys. :) <33 also, i've used the names from the actual Karasuno High girls volleyball club.
featuring characters — TANAKA, NISHINOYA, SUGAWARA, DAICHI
Tumblr media
main masterlist !
TANAKA
your position: middle blocker
it was your team's serve and the score was at 14: 7 in favour of the boy's team. with each cheer of the boys' team, your team's spirits were dropped.
hinata hit his serve on the net; the red-haired boy blanched while kageyama sent him a death glare.
your serve was up.
your body buzzed with anticipation as michimiya tossed you the ball, giving you an encouraging nod, "give us a good serve. make it curve,"
you blinked, mouthing helplessly, "i'm not sure i can pull it off,"
but michimiya gave you a strong look that said 'just do it'
you got behind the line, tapping the ball, and tried to shake off the nerves. the sound of the impact echoed through the air, filling the atmosphere with a satisfying thud each time it made contact.
the whistle was blown and you looked up.
your eyes unexpectedly locked with tanaka's, which caused both of you to blink rapidly and snap out of it.
you tossed the ball, delivering a powerful serve. it soared through the air, passing barely above the tape of the net.
tanaka straightened, calling for the ball, "mine!"
but the ball curved at the last minute, which resulted him in shanking the pass.
tanaka initially panicked, fearing that he had ruined the play. however, when he saw kageyama successfully complete the second touch, prompting him to release a sigh of relief.
tanaka took a step back, getting ready to approach for a spike.
kageyama set the ball to him and tanaka jumped into the air.
you tracked his movements, jumping in the air with arms up to block him. your setter, manami, followed your movements.
tanaka hit the ball perfectly, aiming for the line of your side of the court. but you read him easily, and moved your arm a bit to the side, blocking him.
the ball rolled and dropped right in front of the net as daichi dived for it, but in vain.
you pumped your fists in the air in victory while the rest of the team huddled around you in cheers.
tanaka was in absolute shock, as he stared at his palms, "she just-what-i-"
"it's okay, man," noya slapped his back, "we'll get the next one,"
"no, but-" tanaka looked up to the side where the girls team were still cheering.
michimiya smothered you in a hug, squealing in delight while manami, your team's setter, smacked your ass playfully.
tanaka darted his eyes away quickly, trying not to fixate on the way your ass jiggled.
the whistle was blown again and you served with so much power that it landed on the end line of the court. even daichi was stunned.
this went on and you served for straight 7 points till the score was at an even 14-14.
manami set a high-ball, calling your name.
you took a step forward, arms swinging at your sides as you leaped into the air and spiked it hard.
the ball landed in tsukishima's positioned arms, but it ricochetted away.
coach ukai called a timeout and was yelling at the boys to get it together. tanaka found himself ogling at you, tracking your movements, unblinking.
the way you adjusted your shorts and tugged at the edge of your jersey. the way your throat bobbed with each sip of water. the way a bead of sweat rolled down the column of your neck, down the rounds of your - oh.
tanaka squeezed the water bottle in his clutch, gulping nervously.
"you're staring at her, tanaka," asahi pointed out, "that's not very nice. you look like you want to take her down,"
"ah, so i can worship her on my knees," tanaka shot back, a hazy smile spreading his face.
asahi turned red, giving his teammate a bizarre look, "huh?!"
"did you see how she read me and blocked my spike before? and did you see that counterattack? do you realize how incredibly hot that is to me?!"
"not really," asahi admitted.
"very, i agree," noya nodded.
"she's probably out of your league," tsukishima put it bluntly, pissed that he couldn't receive any of your serves.
"exactly!" tanaka exclaimed, clutching his heart dramatically, "what a woman," he sighed dreamily with heart eyes.
"get a hold of yourself!" suguwara slapped the back of his neck.
the match ended with a score of 24-26, and the boys won the match.
your coach was conversing with takeda and ukai, planning on conducting more such practice matches.
tanaka marched over to the other side of the court where you and your team were warming down after the match.
aihara, the vice-captain, nudged your elbow with hers and jutted her chin in tanaka's direction when he came to a stop in front of you.
you sat on the floor with your legs bent and your knees raised high in front of you. your arms were behind you, supporting your body as you leaned back. you blinked at tanaka in confusion, wondering why he would be approaching you.
the way your calf and thigh muscles flexed while you looked up at him added a touch of sensuality to the scene.
well, at least in tanaka's head.
tanaka couldn't comprehend the sight of you looking so effortlessly breathtaking.
"marry me!" he hollered at you.
the entire girls' volleyball team turned towards him, pinning him in his place with their gaze. some of the girls gasped while the others suppressed their giggles.
his fists were clenched at his sides and his face flushed red. he had been loud enough for the entire gym to hear.
you mouthed helplessly like a goldfish in water, eyes wide.
the entire gymnasium heard his loud command, the air thrumming with tension.
"no," you deadpanned at him.
"why!" tanaka fell to the floor in front of you with a cry, falling to his knees melodramatically.
daichi and suguwara mumbled their apologies for his behaviour and dragged a weeping tanaka back with them.
Tumblr media
NISHINOYA
your position : outside hitter
as the boy's and girl's volleyball clubs lined up for a practice match, nishinoya couldn't help but steal glances at you— the girls' team's outside hitter.
he had been secretly crushing on you for a while now, admiring both on the court and in the classroom, staring at you shamelessly.
he even told tanaka all about you.
"you mean she's the one, bro?" tanaka glanced at noya over his shoulder, jutting his chin in your direction.
both teams were doing their warm-up drills before the practice match and everyone was practicing their attacks. you were with michimiya, as the setter explained something to you in a hushed voice.
noya saw you, making a funny face at something michimiya had said, and tipped your head to the side adorably.
you tapped the volleyball on the rubber floor couple of times, spinning it on your palm gracefully. your hair tipped back when you rotated your head, eyes closed and brows furrowed in focus.
noya grinned dreamily at you, shoulders sagging and mouth spreading wide, "yeah, her. the one,"
tanaka watched his mate drool over you, smacking his shoulder with a snicker.
noya snapped out of his daze, "every time she spikes, i always end up on the receiving end of it. as if, i was made to take what she gives me,"
"a bit weird, if you ask me," tsukishima commented.
"shut it, tsukishima!" noya snapped at his junior.
"you know, it's like a secret dance between us. she spikes the ball, i take it," he sighed pensively.
the match began, and noya found himself facing you on the other side of the net.
every time you sent over a powerful hit, he matched it with a perfect receive, sending the ball to his teammates.
you were impressed with his receiving skills but also annoyed that he received your attacks as if they were weak.
"manami, set it to me!" you called your team setter.
manami tossed the ball as you requested, setting the ball near the net.
you approached with precision, arms swinging back.
tanaka and kageyama were on the other side of the net, arms raised to block your shot.
the two boys stiffened when they realized you hadn't jumped yet and cursed in their heads.
"a time lag attack!"
even coach ukai was surprised. your coach wore a proud grin, mocking the boys' team coach with a taunting look. takeda watched you in wonder.
as tanaka and kageyama went down, you jumped, hitting the ball with everything you had, sending it soaring to the other side of the court.
unfortunately, none of the boys were prepared for your time-lag attack.
the ball hit hinata square in the face, ricocheting away to the other end of the gymnasium.
the entire girls' team gasped together. the boys watched their teammate fall flat on his back, grunting in pain and held his nose.
everyone crowded around the boy and you kneeled next to him, mumbling apologies, "shit, shit! i'm so so sorry. are you alright?"
"did you have your head up your ass?!" kageyama snapped at his teammate.
daichi and asahi helped him sit up; hinata watched everyone stare at him wearily, "y/n-san, i'm fine. you shouldn't worry too much. it would make noya-san very sad. he wouldn't want you sad,"
"huh?" you blinked unawarely.
michimiya and daichi exchanged a knowing glance; both of them knew their team members very well.
"shoyooo!" noya slung an arm around his neck, chuckling nervously, hoping you didn't listen to what the first year had let slip, "no, you see, the ball hit him too hard and he's— uh, all jumbled in the head. so we must take him to the infirmary!"
the crowd dispersed and hinata was taken to the infirmary, yamaguchi accompanied him.
ennoshita was subbed in for hinata and the match ended in the boys' team's favor.
even as you packed your stuff and got ready to leave you felt guilty about being the reason for hinata's injury.
you got so riled up by noya's receives that you went as far as to hit that hard and hurt someone.
hinata returned from the infirmary, striding back into the gym. his nose was bandaged up and streaks of purple bruises peaked from under it.
"the nurse told me all all the blood is internal. its where the blood is supposed to be, so i'm good to go!" hinata stated proudly.
kageyama palm-faced, dragging his hand down in frustration.
tsukishima and suguwara snickered, while asahi scolded them saying it wasn't so nice of them.
adjusting your bag over your shoulder, you approached the redhead, "hey, um, hinata. is it?"
the boy turned to you, eyes widening, darting to noya at the far end behind you before looking back at you, "yeah,"
"i just wanted to apologize," you stated, wincing sheepishly.
"what—no!" hinata smiled, but then grimaced when his nose ached from the action, "it doesn't even hurt.
you gave him a doubtful look, "are you sure?"
"yeah,"
you weren't convinced, but you had to get home and you bid your goodbye, spinning on your heel.
you double-stepped back, having nearly running into noya who was behind you.
"oop—hi," you chuckled awkwardly, "didn't see you,"
"er, yeah," noya rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "i wanted to tell you you were amazing on court,"
you froze for a second. no one had really appreciated you or praised you for your game, you were pushing yourself forward convincing you didn't need any. but his words were like a salve to your yearning soul, "thank you. i could say the same thing about you. those receives of yours were pretty impressive,"
noya's cheeks turned even redder at your praise, his heart hammering in his chest, "well, i was a bit distracted there, with you looking so good when you play," he joked, trying to cover up his flustered state with a cheeky grin.
you chuckled, feeling a little coy, "is that why you keep staring at me instead of the ball, noya?"
noya's heart was racing as he tried to come up with a response to your compliment. he opened his mouth to speak, but all that came out was a jumble of stammered words and incoherent sounds.
the usual confidence he felt on the court had disappeared. he couldn't seem to form a coherent thought, let alone respond to your words.
"i—what—uh, you know my name?" he asked, flabbergasted.
"of course, i do," you looked at him with a weird look, head tilting back and a strand of hair fell from your head. noya itched to tuck it behind your ear.
"i'll see you around, noya," you waved your goodbye and walked out of the gymnasium.
as soon as you were out of view, noya snapped out of his day-dreaming and processed what had happened. he flirted with you. and you flirted back. AND YOU KNEW HIS NAME!
noya ran over to where tanaka was doing his stretches on the floor with suguwara, arms flapping above his head in excitement, "dude, DUDE! she knows my name!"
Tumblr media
SUGAWARA
your position: middle blocker
sugwara was practicing his setting, tossing the ball up into the air and waiting for it to drop into his hands. while he was at it, his eyes caught a glimpse of you on the other end of the volleyball court where the girls were practicing for their match up against the boys.
you were struggling with a roll of tape, trying to wrap your fingers with it, but your hands seemed to be trembling. you grimaced in frustration, "damn it!"
sugawara set the ball down and quickly walked over to you, his voice gentle and soft, "do you need some help?" he asked, taking the tape from your shaking hands.
you looked up at him, nodding almost immediately, feeling a little embarrassed by your difficulty with the task, "yeah," you muttered, "i just can't seem to get the tape on straight. need to wrap 'em on my fingers,"
sugawara smiled kindly and gestured for you to hold out your hand, "here, let me do it," he said, his tone reassuring.
you held out your hand and sugawara took it gently in his. his other hand brushed over yours, spreading open your trembling fist. red and purple bruises were litterd on the sides of your fingers.
you spared a glance at him, assuming he'd be bombarding you with questions about all your injuries. but to your surprise, he remained silent.
his fingers were cool and firm against your skin, oddly comforting. he carefully began to wrap the tape around your fingers, careful not to wrap it too tight or too lose, his movements precise and practised.
every now and then, his thumb would brush against your knuckles, sending a small shiver up your spine.
as he worked, sugawara couldn't help but notice the way your eyelashes fluttered each time his fingers touched your skin, or especially when it grazed the inside of your wrist.
he tried to keep his focus on your hands, but his eyes kept wandering to your face, watching as you tried to suppress your reactions to his touch. the way your shoulders were taut. the way your throat bobbed when you swallowed nervously. the way your chest rose and fell with each breath. the way your teeth dug into your lower lip, and how badly he wanted to relieve it with his thumb— nope, don't go there.
sugawara blinked at the floor with wide eyes, surprised by his own thoughts and shook his head lightly.
as he continued, he realized that he was becoming increasingly distracted. he tried to focus on the task at hand, but his mind kept wandering, and taking in every detail of you.
the way your jersey and shorts clung to your body like second skin. the way your hair was tied back and draped over your shoulder with a few strands sticked out at the side of your face. the way you rolled your shoulder back, every rippling motion of your body.
he found himself blushing involuntarily, and he silently cursed his lack of control.
sugawara tried to distract himself from his growing distraction by making casual conversation, "you're on the girls' team, right?" he asked, keeping his tone as neutral as possible.
"yeah, no shit," you smiled sarcastically, raising your brows in amusement.
sugawara chuckled awkwardly, "of course, silly me,"
he continued wrapping your fingers, trying to keep his hands steady, "so, how long have you been playing volleyball?" he asked, hoping to get you talking and distract himself from the growing tension between you.
"since middle school,"
"ah," sugawara nodded, his eyes flickering to your face for a brief moment before returning to your fingers, "so you're a seasoned player, huh? no wonder you're giving us a run for our money,"
"you've seen me play?"
"couple of times," he replied, turning your hand over to check if he covered the injuries on your hand, "michimiya says your blocks are impossible to get through. I've seen them a couple of times myself,"
"hope you weren't stalking me," you joked, smiling lightly.
Sugawara chuckled, "i wouldn't mind stalking a pretty girl like you,"
but as soon as you look up at him in surprise, he blushed and quickly looked away.
"i—i mean your playing style. not stalking, observing, yes. that's the word. observing," he tips of his ear were beginning to turn red.
"i see," you held back a smile, itching to poke fun at him.
as sugawara finished wrapping the your middle finger, he held your hand for a moment longer, his fingers gently tracing the lines on your palm. he looked up at you, his eyes meeting yours, "there," he said softly, "all done,"
sugawara found himself completely flustered by your stare, his mind going blank. He could barely form a coherent thought as he looked into your eyes, drowning in them. those eyes, those eyes… they seemed to be reaching into his very soul, and he was powerless to resist.
his eyes flickered over your face. he was trying to keep himself composed, but he could feel his heart racing in his chest, and he was sure you could hear it too.
you both look down at your hands, you noticed that his pale skin was a stark contrast against your own, your taped fingers are intertwined with his. slotting together like puzzle pieces. a perfect fit.
you moved your thumb over his knuckle, transfixed. the tenderness in your touch made him feel vulnerable and weak in the knees. he could feel the heat rise in his cheeks as he attempted to steady himself.
the sensation of your fingers intertwined with his was both soothing and electrifying. He unconsciously squeezed your hand tighter, finding solace in the touch.
suddenly, a volleyball suddenly dropped right front of you two; you both startled apart. the interruption broke the moment, and you both quickly withdrew your hands.
yamaguchi clumsily retrived the ball, muttering a quick apology and head back to pepper with tsukishima.
he swallowed hard, his eyes never leaving yours. "uh, sorry," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean to hold your hand for so long. it's just— your fingers felt really nice, and i—" he trailed off, unable to find the words to explain his own actions.
you could see the embarrassed blush on sugawara's face, his ears turning even redder as he fumbled over his words. his eyes kept flickering between your face and your hands, as if he was still struggling with the lingering sensation of your touch.
"It's fine," you managed to say. you couldn't hide the fact that you were flustered, "i didn't mind. also, thanks koshi," you held up your taped fingers.
he felt a surge of surprise and warmth at your use of his first name. it was rare for anyone outside of his close friends and teammates to use it, and hearing you say it made his heart skip a beat. his cheeks turned even redder.
sugawara felt a sense of relief that you weren't upset or uncomfortable with his actions. in fact, the subtle blush on your face seemed to indicate that you were indeed flustered. this observation only fueled his own desire, causing a newfound confidence to wash over him.
he noticed an edge of tape sticking up and smoothed it down on your finger, letting his touch linger.
"careful with those fingers of yours," he teased, "can't have the team lacking a middle blocker, can we?" he lifted your hand and playfully kisses the tip of your middle finger, his thumb grazing your knuckles. when he looked up at you, his eyes were filled with a tenderness that sent a flutter through your heart, "a little kiss for luck never hurt anyone."
"do you talk like this to every girl you meet?" you questioned with a quirk of your eyebrows.
"only to the one girl i'm trying to impress," he didn't miss a beat, winking at you, "and I can tell it's working," he teased, nodding at your flushed cheeks.
narrowing your eyes playfully, you snatched your hand back to your chest and got to your feet, "i'll see on the court, koushi," you let out a breath, giving him a sly grin.
sugawara smiled, his heart fluttering at the sound of his name on your lips, "yeah," he said, his voice a little huskier than usual, "see you on the court, y/n."
as you walked away, sugawara too got to his feet and headed back to where his team was doing their warm ups. he couldn't help but smile giddily as he looked at his own fingers, knowing that he had touched yours and felt your skin against his.
daichi, who had been watching the interaction between you and Sugawara from across the court, approached with a smirk on his face, "I see you got yourself 'wrapped up' in a little situation, didn't you, sugawara?" he teased, his voice dripping with amusement.
asahi was following behind daichi, blushing slightly and tried to hide a smile, "looks like someone has a crush," he teased, giving sugawara a nudge in the ribs with his elbow.
sugawara scowled at his friends, "quiet, you two," he muttered, his eyes flickering over to you.
you were flexing your fingers, making sure you could move them about and grinned to yourself. suguwara felt a stupid smile grow on his face, but it was quickly wiped when daichi and asahi descended upon him with their teasing, nudging him playfully.
sugawara's cheeks reddened as the two kept making playful comments about his obvious crush on you. he tried to act nonchalantly, but his flushed face betrayed his true emotions.

DAICHI
your position: setter
daichi sat across from you, trying to explain the complexities of modern japanese literature.
however, you were having a hard time focusing on the material. your mind was elsewhere, and you were desperately looking for a way to escape this tiresome tutoring session.
michimiya had reached out to you about a practice match today and needed you as the team's setter.
you kept bouncing your leg, blindly nodding along to whatever daichi was saying, trying to grasp onto it. you spared a glance at the message michimiya had sent you, thinking of a way of out this tutoring session.
finally, an idea popped into your head, "daichi," you began, making your voice sound solemn, "i can't stay for today's lesson. i just got a message. my grandmother's funeral is tomorrow, and i have to help with the preparations,"
daichi's expression softened as he heard your explanation, "oh, I see," he said gently, his voice laced with a hint of pity, "i'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. go and take care of your family. we can continue the lesson another time," he closed the book open in front of him.
you nodded, expressing your gratitude for his understanding, "thank you, daichi," you said quietly, "i really appreciate it. i promise i'll reach out to you when I'm ready to continue,"
he gave you a small nod and a faint smile before turning to leave, "take care of yourself," he said, his voice low, "and don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything,"
with that, he left the room, leaving you alone with your thoughts. you couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for lying to him, but you also felt relieved that you had gotten away from the painful tutoring session.
later that evening, you had met up with the girls team and you were all stretching, preparing for the practice match.
michimiya arrived with the news that you were going to play with the boy's volleyball club team.
the girls were buzzing with nervous excitement as they prepared for the upcoming match. everyone knew the boys' team was strong, especially with their renowned setter, who was a first year. while some were intimidated, others were excited about the challenge.
as you warmed up with your teammates, you couldn't shake off a nagging feeling of worry. you wondered who the boys' setter was and how skilled they would be.
aihira, the vice-captain, patted your back, assuring you when she noticed your frown of doubt, "you can handle those first years, all you have to do is get under their skin, i've seen him play,"
the door of the gymnasium banged open, and the boys' team entered with a ruckus.
"that's the first years," aihra nodded to a short ginger, who was locked in a stare with a raven-haired boy who was taller than him, "their quick attacks are something else,"
"that's the second years," she gestured to boy with a buzz cut and the other who was almost in the same height as that first year ginger.
"you know suga, and asahi. oh, and that's—"
"—daichi," you completed when you spotted him. your heart skipped a beat and you couldn't help but freeze in surprise.
he had stepped in to separate hinata and kageyama arguing, chiding them for their behaviour.
as if sensing your presence, daichi looked up and his eyes locked with yours, widening in surprise.
you could feel your heart racing in your chest as his eyes met yours. a mixture of emotions flooded you — surprise, nervousness, and a hint of fear.
you cursed internally, knowing that your plan to avoid him had just been foiled.
"michimiya, hide me, please," you covered your face with your hands.
the captain blinked at you in confusion.
footsteps grew closer to you and within a few strides, daichi was in front of you, "y/n, didn't think you'd have time to join the volleyball club. thought you had to attend your grandmother's funeral,"
you winced a little and smiled sheepishly, "yeah, she's been dead for about five years now. i bet she's having a good laugh about it up above right now," you glared up at the sky.
daichi gave you an unimpressed look, "michimiya told me that you guys had a new setter. but i didn't know it was you,"
"new secret setter," you shot your teammate a glare.
she simply raised her hands in defense, "i didn’t know you guys knew each other," she said, bewildered, "and I didn’t know you were failing modern japanese literature, y/n," she chided.
"yeah, i'm her tutor, she's struggling with that particular subject. and she gave me the excuse of a funeral to attend to run away from me,"
"see, i'm struggling. not failing," you stated as a matter of fact.
"you better not," michimiya said, resting her hands on her hips, "or takeda will have u out of the team,"
daichi suppressed a smirk at your interjection, clearly amused by the exchange between you and michimiya, "she's right. you better not fail. i wouldn't want to be the reason you're kicked off the team,"
"you mad at me for lying to you?" you questioned, grimacing a bit.
daichi shrugged slightly, a small sigh escaping his lips, "i'm not mad," he said, his voice soft., "just a bit disappointed. i'm not too happy being lied to, but i understand you had your reasons,"
you look over your shoulder when you hear michimiya call you over to the court where the rest of the girls' team was warming up.
daichi watched as you made your way to warm up with the other girls, a slight smirk playing on his lips, "i look forward to seeing you play in the game," he called out, a hint of challenge in his tone, "i'm not going to go easy on you just because we know each other, you know,"
you glanced back at him, a mixture of determination and annoyance in your eyes, "i wouldn't worry about me if i were you," you retorted, a determined look on your face.
daichi chuckled at your threat, amused by your competitive spirit.
The match between the two teams commenced, with michimiya beginning with a serve.
the ball curved high into the air, sailing over the net with a satisfying hum. it descended on the boys side, and daichi quickly moved into position, ready to return the serve.
with precision and control, he executed a perfect pass to kageyama, who set the ball for an attack.
tanaka, positioned at the net, lunged forward and executed a powerful spike with a dramatic yell. the ball hurtling towards your side with impressive force.
anika leapt up to receive the ball, her arms stretched out in a desperate bid. she managed to get it high in the air.
you saw your chance and called for a set. aihara took a step back, swinging her arms, and jumped high to attack.
but you tossed the ball right over the net, to execute a drop.
"a setter dump!" someone shouted from the sidelines.
the unexpected move caught both daichi and noya off guard. they dove for the ball, but it landed right between them.
"damn it!" daichi exclaimed, his face flushed with frustration.
"a setter dump at the beginning of the game?" noya grumbled.
as the ball landed and the cheer erupted, your eyes met daichi's through the net. there was no mistaking the flicker of surprise and admiration in his gaze.
daichi gave you a sarcastic grin, a silent message, "nice move,"
you could see his composure waver momentarily, his initial arrogance giving way to a newfound respect for your skills.
a sly grin tugged at the corners of your mouth, satisfaction coursing through you. you knew you had surprised him, and it felt good.
returning his gaze, your eyes sparkled with confidence, silently gloating at the fact that you had managed to catch him off guard.
the match was a thrilling back-and-forth affair, with the score finely balanced. it was now 21-23, the boys team holding a slight edge.
asahi stepped up to serve, his powerful arm coiling back for a jump serve.
michimiya reacted quickly, diving to retrieve the powerful serve. however, the ball slipped past her, rolling sideways toward the backline.
you chased after the ball, leaping high to set it over your back. it was a risky maneuver, but you managed to elevate the ball just enough for your teammates to react.
hinata and yamaguchi watched set the ball in awe, jaws agape. even sugawara was staring at you in bafflement.
kageyama and tsukishima rose up to block, their arms outstretched, ready to intercept the attack. Aihara with a quick flick of her wrist, tipped the ball over their block, sending it back towards the opposing side.
noya dove to receive the ball, but it slipped past his outstretched hands.
asahi, realizing the opportunity, pulled off an emergency set, directing the ball toward their captain.
daichi, with a powerful leap and swing, spiked the ball back towards your side.
you reacted swiftly, blocking the spike with your outstretched arms.
however, the ball rolled off your hand and fell on the boys side of the court. getting on one knee, kageyama managed to set it in first touch, tossing the ball high.
tsukishima, seizing the opportunity, spiked the ball with all his might.
watabi, the girls' libero, dove to receive the ball, but it landed just outside the sideline.
the boys' team had won the point, bringing the score to 24-21 in their favor. the match was reaching its climax, and the tension on the court was palpable.
"it's okay, we'll get the next one!" michimiya cheered, her voice filled with optimism.
you exchanged nods and smiles, each player recognizing the effort and determination put into the match.
daichi stepped up to serve. as he tapped the ball on the floor a couple of times, he looked up, catching your eyes. you shot him a playful wink, causing him to stutter momentarily.
daichi served the ball and it sailed over the net.
"i got it!" you called for it, stepping back and took the pass that would've been your libero's receive.
sugawara was watching with hinata and yamaguchi, "why would she go so far as to take a ball that would land in the back court?"
michimiya approached the net as if to attack, but instead, she did an overhead pass to you,
tanaka and tsukishima, expecting her to attack, were caught off guard.
the ball soared in your direction and you spiked the ball with a grunt.
the ball landed on the sideline, passing past daichi, surprising everyone.
hinata, ever enthusiastic, couldn't contain his excitement, "she's so cool! way cooler than kageyama!" he exclaimed, his eyes wide with admiration.
kageyama shot him a glare, causing hinata to wince and look away. but even he couldn't deny, you were pretty impressive.
you pumped your fist in the air, celebrating your successful play. your teammates gathered around you, complimenting you on the impressive move.
daichi watched you intently, noticing your manic focus and competitive spirit. this level of intensity was something he had never seen before.
eventually, the match ended in favor of the boys' team, but the memory of your exceptional play would linger in their minds for a long time.
warming down after the match, you were gathering your things when you heard footsteps approaching.
turning, you saw daichi making his way towards you, "you were amazing on the court,"
you slung the duffle bag over your shoulder, a grin spreading across your face, "thanks," you replied, feeling a flush of pride welling up inside you.
"and that little wink you sent me during my serve earlier," he said, giving you a pointed look.
you couldn't suppress the grin that spread across your face as you replied, "ah, so you did see it,"
"of course, i did," daichi said, "you're not exactly subtle, you know,"
"but careful with that attitude sweetheart, or i'll have to teach you how to behave yourself," he reached up and tucked a strand of hair heind your ear, dragging his finger down the curve of your face.
you felt a shiver run down your spine at his words, a mixture of excitement and nervousness swelling in your chest, "is that a threat, daichi?" you asked, unable to keep the cheeky tone from your voice.
he chuckled softly, a mischievous gleam in his eye, "it's a promise. but I have a feeling you might enjoy it,"
with that, daichi walked away after sending you a sly look. you could feel your cheeks flushing with a mixture of embarrassment and excitement.
meanwhile, noya and tanaka were watching the interaction, their eyes wide with disbelief and amusement.
"did you just see that?" noya gasped, turning to tanaka, "our captain was totally flirting with her!"
"and not just flirting," tanaka chimed in, a sneaky grin spreading across his face, "he was laying it on thick, man. i think he's got some serious skills,"
"yeah, he definitely does. but I still can't believe he had the guts to do it right in front of us. our captain's got game, man,"
daichi spun around as he heard the sound of noya and tanaka's voices, his eyes narrowing as he shot them a warning glare, "shut it, both of you!"

Hi hiii :)) your writing is amazing mwah mwah. Perfection.
Anyways just wanted to request a Kageyama x reader, who just happens to be oikawa’s younger sister who is also very into volleyball. People get shocked that she’s Oikawa sister since their personalities are so different but they look somewhat alike (they’re both tall and pretty hahah). Kageyama was watching the girls teams play at the tournament since theirs finished and he kinda got obsessed with the way she plays and obviously reader looked amazing 🤭🤭 so he approaches her after the game not knowing she’s Oikawa’s sister

Kageyama chose to sit and watch a few more teams play their respective tournament bracket while waiting for their bus to pick them up. It would be a long ride home. He would zone out, rest, and get away from the buzzing, orange fly in his ear then.
Right now, in the middle of Aoba Johsai's last set, he kept on the edge of his seat with a firm brow.
"She's like Azumane," Hinata sighed, about a five minutes behind Kageyama's own observations.
It took not only a stellar performance, but a timeout and penalty because you broke three of Date Tech number 8's fingers with your last spike for Hinata to make that connection.
The penalty costed your team their last two points. You were called off the court for the next 4 minutes, he barely caught your dewy face made of stone. Both audiences were in an uproar- one more justified than the other- but Kageyama had to side with you because he needed to watch you play more. He might not get the chance again.
Number 8 should've taped her fingers. Better yet, she shouldn't have tried to keep blocking you.
You not only knew how to get around it, but the way you worked with your setter, and the unmatched control and strength in your swing made blocks impossible.
"I didn't think this kind of thing happened with the girls," Hinata mumbled, craning over Kageyama to get a look at you off-court.
Kageyama shoved him off and rolled his eyes at the assertion. "Obviously, dumbass."
A smattering of Johsai's male team were taking the hit harder than even you, at the edge of the bleachers.
Oikawa led Watari, Yahaba, and Mattsu, and Hanamaki in their 'Crybaby' chants. They were on their way to earning another penalty for your team, deterred only by Iwa, who was about the only person alive that could successfully shut it down.
Now both of the teams were in a tense battle, both genuinely angry at one another for taking needed players off. It was a rigid one-point dual for minutes.
He had a limited view of you as it played out- tough and stiff as just about everyone working for your team took turns talking to you; Coach, advisor, manager, teammates. Assumedly all "It's not your fault," "Keep your head up," "8 will be alright" and the like. You were their Ace, for sure.
4 minutes was enough time to assume their girls' team would meet the same unfortunate fate as the boys today against Karasuno. It was why all the Johsai guys were leaned over the railing, screaming at every play, because they just couldn't take another devastating loss.
He didn't realize how much they needed you until they let you out, unfortunately timed straight into an even-scored serve.
"(F/n)!!" Oikawa shouted, above the roar of the audience once they all realized you were released and put in the back position.
Kageyama watched you look up- that was your name? How did he know your first name?
The rest of the Johsai team joined him when he cried, "Break it!!"
Your big, pretty grin raised Kageyama to his feet. He had to see this.
Your ritual was silent and rode the time out to the very last second. A sigh of breath on the ball, another good luck spin, then up into a jump--
WHAM!!
A loud, clean, cross-court serve to win the game for Johsai. No volley. Just a brutal, final blow to Date Tech's morale. They sank into the floor as your school flew into a frenzy and celebrated a satisfying victory.
That serve was familiar, but Kageyama didn't get to dwell on its origin too much before Hinata yanked him out of his thoughts.
"You should talk to her!"
He was too close, and he could feel his face warming up, so he shoved Hinata's head to the side and started walking away.
"You clearly like her," Hinata muttered.
A quick turn of his head, with a very mean expression, shut him up- but it didn't help the heat crawling up the back of his neck, and it didn't reduce the truth in Hinata's argument. Just his volume.
No amount of brooding or pride would get him any closer to you. Caught between the choice of rejoining his team or making his existence known, he turned sharp on his heels.
And Hinata knew better than to speak and revel in his victory just yet. Kageyama would probably screw this up.
When they were coming quietly up on Aoba Johsai's designated spot, Hinata scanned the crowd of girls for you, and despite the many distractions, found an interesting twist. Oikawa let you down from a monster hug and it was clear his dark-haired counterpart was too in-his-head to notice.
Kageyama bit a shudder back at the sight of so many people crowded up. He had no real reason to approach you, no connection, no excuse other than the truth.
"I think--,"
"Don't talk to me." Kageyama snapped, short on patience. He pushed his hands through his hair and added, "Don't even act like you know me. Just... be somewhere else."
Hinata pushed a giggly smile down. He split off and decided to pick Iwa's brain for some tips.
Kageyama rubbed his hot face in his sobering absence- he'd have to gather his courage alone.
You were leaned over a bench full of various duffle bags, trying your best to quiet your mind with all the celebration behind you, when a presence broke through your focus.
When you looked up, it wasn't a teammate or one of your brother's friends- it was somebody new. Somebody cute, and tall enough.
"Hi?" You glanced around, but found that he was indeed addressing you with an unbroken stare, "Uh- nice to meet you?"
You weren't nearly as mean as the game made you. You were like Azumane, in the way that you seemed quite kindly when you spoke. You were far prettier, too.
"Hey," He muttered, glancing around for a moment in a dismissive fashion, "That was a good game."
Confusion was evident on your face, but you were grateful for the compliment anyway, "Thank you!"
You went back to packing your bag. He was nothing short of lost, fumbling hard with no desire to be upfront and equipped with no other reason to speak with you.
The proximity granted him the clarity to see that you were taller than he thought. Your face was much softer up close, your smile way cuter than the grimace you wore for most of the game. You were too nice for breaking through so many blocks and scoring so many points.
When you realized he was still standing there, you zipped up your bag and faced him again, grasping at straws for something to say. You glanced at his jacket.
"Oh! You play for Karasuno?"
He evaded your gaze shortly after meeting it. He nodded and put his hands in his pockets.
It wasn't necessarily a call-out; you realized his team had triumphed over your brother's earlier today only right after asking him. He must've been able to avoid suspicion in all the commotion.
"What do you play?" You pressed.
"Setter," He answered a little straighter.
He certainly was a good height. He met your gaze, which was more than you could say for most guys. You clocked him as a perfect stranger to start but as you glanced around his handsome features, you began to piece together those two facts-- something was off.
When you opened your mouth to ask for his name, all that came out was a startled reaction to an arm, heavy around your shoulders.
"Well, well, well!"
You rolled your eyes, "Oh my god..."
"If it isn't The King- here to rub our faces in his false win!"
Kageyama squinted, his nose a little scrunched at the nickname, the insinuation, but most of all the contact in front of him. This wasn't going at all to plan. It was like rock bottom was only getting dug deeper around him.
You shook off Oikawa's arm and, despite having no reason to, defended him, "He didn't say anything like that, Toru. Fuck off."
Oikawa huffed like the big baby he was and crossed his arms over his chest instead.
"He doesn't need to. That's just how he thinks."
"Stop projecting," Kageyama spat. He glanced between you now, wary of the fact that you might be dating.
"How do you know each other?"
You asked Toru, specifically.
When you shifted to look at him, there was a thick intensity to the air between them. It wasn't an enjoyable experience, having to brave the rigid atmosphere by yourself. It was like they needed a room.
"They were on the same team at Kitagawa!" A delightful blur of orange cut in.
After such a demanding, arduous game today, this labyrinth of a conversation and all the odd strangers were getting old, fast. You didn't have a whole lot of time to absorb every bit of information. So they went to the same middle school-- great. That did not explain a damn thing. Now this kid looked familiar, too.
Instead of keeping on that train, you took a big breath to introduce yourself to the shorter guy.
"Nobody asked you."
Your face fell. The ball of sunshine faded in a flash. Now everyone was stiff.
"That was mean." You stated, unable to let it slide after a moment of deliberation.
Kageyama looked shocked, like he either didn't realize what he said was cruel, or he didn't expect anyone to call him out on it. You figured it was the latter, given Hinata's sad, no-retaliation reaction.
"Are you Hinata?" You heard yourself guess. There were only so many 5'3 ginger players here- especially none that caused as much of a stir as him.
Hinata nodded fervently and you grinned with a hand outstretched, "Well, it's nice to meet the legend himself."
Delighted as he was, he didn't take your compliment in the slightest. He shook your hand with two smaller ones and you watched his blush spread right to his ears.
"Legend?! You're the legend! We saw your game- that was so awesome!! How do you put that much BOOM in your spike?! I didn't think--"
You laughed chiefly at the 'Boom,' then at his excited rambling.
When he said 'we,' you glanced to his dark-haired friend and pieced together that they must have been there together. He still looked like he was taking your comment personally.
It truly all fell apart at his feet. Oikawa was talking at him, but he couldn't hear a word. He watched past his shoulder as Hinata took his spot, dazzling you with his stupidity and enthusiasm with so much ease, so quickly. How did you know the runt and not the guy who threw his sets?
The thought occurred to him that he had something to learn from Hinata about talking to girls, but it pissed him off so bad that his expression begged a smartass comment.
"Woah- watch out, ugly. Your face might get stuck like that!" He cackled and jabbed a rigid finger at Kageyama's chest.
He choked when you threw a hard punch at him in the back. Hinata stopped rambling at your show of force and backed up a few steps.
"Stop being so childish! God, you're the fucking worst," You ignored his dramatic gasps of pain and looked right over Hinata's head to nod at his friend, "No wonder he doesn't like you."
Regardless of how mean the other guy was, you knew your brother was deserving of everything you said.
"I'm older than you!" He whined, "Ugh- Shit, that hurt! Don't talk to me like that--,"
It was only in this moment that Kageyama understood your dynamic was nothing to be competitive about. Oikawa was your older brother. As much as it was a cosmic 'Fuck you, Tobio,' he was relieved that your eligibility was up to speculation again. Your likeness to him was now obvious, and not a symptom of any familiarity effect.
"Then start acting like it," You rolled your eyes and ignored the yammering that ensued- you looked to that quiet, pretty boy.
He didn't even glance at Toru's impassioned blithering as soon as he felt your eyes on him, "What's your name? You never said."
"Kageyama." He muttered, soft and distant.
There was a faintness to his words, a cloudy preoccupation on his usually sharp expression whenever he addressed you. You understood his intentions now and couldn't help but feel flattered.
Once Toru realized he wasn't going to get any more attention, he deemed neither of the two idiots as a threat to you and joined his team further back into the hall. There was no way you'd entertain dating either of them, anyway.
"So," You spared a glance back long enough to know he wasn't returning, "What were you really here for?"
Kageyama looked a little shell-shocked. His mouth hung open a moment, and he glanced at the floor near your feet. His eyes trailed back up in a way that could've been incriminating, but you decided not to comment on it.
"I just- wanted to say good job. Really. Your technique... is cool."
He was so obvious. You failed to bite back a smile at his -seemingly rare- sincerity.
"It's awesome," Hinata emphasized. When you looked at him, he visibly tightened and felt the need to disguise it with more words, "Man, I wish I could hit as hard as you!"
A shy laugh found you- you covered it with your hand. Kageyama wished you wouldn't.
"I could show you sometime, if you want," You offered. Any excuse to play again was appealing, especially with someone who had this much energy.
He gasped and began speaking with only Kageyama in a big, animated fashion.
A teammate of yours tapped you to let you know your team would be leaving for the bus, soon. Before that, you hadn't noticed how much the crowd was thinning out. There were only a few of you left and you knew you needed to go soon.
You looked at your brother, eyeing your little trio from afar. He wouldn't leave without knowing you were alone and unfollowed. Especially with his antagonistic opinion on Karasuno, in general.
"I can give you my number if you want to set something up. I- really gotta get going."
Hinata's eyes grew wide and sparkly with joy- you could tell he appreciated the offer on a few levels. He quickly fumbled around for his phone and you exchanged numbers.
Kageyama eyed you like a hawk, but you pretended not to notice until you pulled away.
A brief glance at him was all it took to send him back to a broody, avoidant mess.
"Just send me a text when you wanna meet up, okay?" You slung your bag and pushed on his shoulder playfully before jogging away to catch your friend.
There was only a brief moment of silence while the pair walked to rejoin their team.
"I'll break your legs if you don't give me her number."
It didn't put the fear of God in him the way he wanted it to. Hinata, equipped with newfound courage and a dash of arrogance, laughed instead.
"What are you gonna do with it? She won't want a text from you--" He evaded the first swat, got clipped on the second, and almost dropped his phone when Kageyama lunged for his phone a third time.
Before he could succeed in a fourth attempt, Hinata took off in a sprint towards their exit with Kageyama lagging behind.
It was easier to dodge the swarms of other teams and visitors with his smaller frame, but once they reached the end of the hall, it would be up to the mercy of their team to hear his pleas and save him.

The enemy of my enemy – Oikawa x reader wc 428 – gn!reader, brother!Ushijima
Tumblr media
If Oikawa Toru thought he heard you should have come to Shiratorizawa too often, he should walk a day in your shoes. Ushijima Wakatoshi was your brother, and you decided to go to Aoba Johsai.
Which Seijoh’s starting setter didn’t actually know. Not when he first noticed you, and certainly not when he asked you out on a date to the arcade.
Not even on the date, as the two of you were giggling over your poor attempt at a dancing game where Oikawa ended up sabotaging yours instead of staying on his side, stating that if he couldn’t win, no one could.
Overall, the date was thoroughly enjoyable. He wasn’t that bad when he got comfortable, showing you more of who he was and perhaps even making you… return his crush.
As you were looking at the different claw machines together, hoping to win something to remember the date by, you heard an agitating, grating voice.
“We should totally get plushies! The dorm gets lonely when Semi-Semi won't cuddle me.”
You looked up so fast that you didn’t even notice the matching look of horror on Oikawa’s face.
It was just your luck that Tendo Satori would drag the third years to the arcade at the same time as your date.
“On second thought, I’m hungry,” you said quickly, patting Oikawa’s arm to make him look at you.
“I agree, starving,” he agreed just as quickly, intertwining your hands and pulling you along towards the exit.
“Y/n! Hey!”
“Tendo… oh, and the rest of you… hi…” you greeted, slowly turning around. Your eyes flicked to Ushijima, then to Oikawa at your side. Yeah, he looked quite confused. “What are you-”
Interrupted by an overly dramatic gasp from the redhead, you pursed your lips. “You’re holding hands, is this a date? Are you dating the enemy?”
“The enemy of my enemy is my date,” you challenged, sticking your tongue out at him.
Meanwhile, Oikawa had a staring competition with Ushijima. The two didn’t exactly have the room to speak yet, but Oikawa wondered how the hell you knew them.
So he squeezed your hand, making you stop the childish argument and look at him sheepishly. “Toru, you’ve probably met them before, but… this is my brother and his friends.”
When Oikawa’s line of sight followed your other hand’s gesture to Ushijima, his face paled.
Lord have mercy, he’s got the hots for an Ushijima.
“He’s your brother?” he repeated just to confirm, jaw dropping when you nodded.
“You should both have come to Shiratorizawa.”
“Oh, shut uuup.”

someone’s got a crush! | a.miya
pairing: ts!miya atsumu x gn!reader ft. osamu & suna | sfw | cw: cursing, not proofread, written in one sitting, slight manga spoilers but nr | genre: fluff | wc: 553 | masterlist
synopsis -> in which you going on a date leads to a shocking discovery for atsumu (with some help from friends)
Tumblr media
ATSUMU MIYA figures out he’s in love with you on a rainy night in the dead cold of the winter.
It’s the after-hours of Onigiri Miya, and all the customers have cleared out– save for Suna and Osamu- who were having their monthly hangout. The only noise heard over the low hum of the refrigerator and the rain outside are the two’s quiet laughs and the clinking of the plate of food they’re sharing.
Their chat is rudely interrupted as an irritated Atsumu barges in, uninvited, swinging the door open in his wake. His hair is weighed down from the rain and his shoes are caked in mud. His face looks murderous when paired with the dim lighting of the restaurant, but the pair of friends seem unphased by this.
“Yer gonna get my floors all dirty, jackass!” Osamu scolds, chucking the towel slung over his shoulder across the room, “Dry off, yer not a dog,”
Ignoring Osamu’s displeasure, Atsumu lets the towel hit his person and fall to the floor. His expression is a mix of annoyance and depression as he drags himself over to where his brother and former teammate are sitting. “I just don’t get their taste in men,” he starts, slumping down in a nearby seat and snatching a piece of onigiri from Osamu’s plate and stuffing it into his mouth, “The guy’s a fuckin’ jackoff!”
At the sight of his distress, Suna and Osamu look at each other in knowing amusement. You, one of Atsumu’s best friends, are on a date right now, and from the look on his face– he is not happy about it.
“Is this about your friend bein’ on a date tonight?” Osamu inquires, already knowing the answer.
Staring at him incredulously, Atsumu deadpans “What else would it be about?” Still chewing his food, the setter shakes his head in disgust, “Y’know the guy’s takin’ ‘em to see a movie?! A movie date! How fuckin’ stupid is that?”
“You sound a bit upset over this,” Suna snickers, patting him on the back rather roughly, resulting in him choking on onigiri, “Is it ‘cause it would be better if they were on a date with you?” Atsumu continues to cough, but the two aren’t sure if it’s from the food stuck in his throat or out of embarrassment. Osamu stifles a laugh.
“Shud up!” he coughs, face reddening and lips pinching into a firm line, “That’s not–“ But then he stops, a realization coming over him.
Horrified by the weight of the discovery, he mutters, voice uncharacteristically small, “Aw shit. It totally would.”
“He finally realizes!” Suna exclaims, looking at Osamu, who folds his arms together and nods his head, laughing, “Took you long enough.”
“Wha…” Atsumu stammers. A vein pops out of his forehead as he stares at the pair in disbelief. Why did this seem like old news to everyone but him?
“It’s ‘bout damn time ya figured it out,” Osamu replies, hitting his twin across the head, “Everyone knows ya got a crush on them.”
The blonde looks to Suna for confirmation, to which he shrugs, grinning deviously in confirmation of his twin’s declaration. He huffs in exasperation and rises from his seat so suddenly that water droplets fall from his hair and litter the table. “Fuck all of ya!” He yells, getting up and storming out of the building without saying another word. The door closes behind him with an exaggerated slam, muddy footprints being the only evidence that he was ever there.
Atsumu doesn’t say where he’s going, but Osamu and Suna are pretty sure it’s to go and crash a date.

kinktober 2023 -> day 18
hair pulling - kozume kenma x reader
word count: 669
kinktober masterlist
Tumblr media
Kozume Kenma was complicated.
He confused everyone around him. His friends, colleagues, acquaintances. He was quiet and unexpressive, and that made him difficult to connect with. He often came off as intriguing and mysterious. Even when he played volleyball back in high school, it was a well known fact that opposing teams were wary of Nekoma’s setter above everything else. If there was anyone who understood him, it was Kuroo. And you, of course you.
It had taken years and years of awkward friendship and then awkward relationship before Kenma really opened up to you. Where you two were now was the very peak, but it had not always been like this. You were sure that if you hadn’t loved the boy so much for so long, Kenma would still elude you. But not now. Now, you could play Kenma like a puppet. And that’s exactly what you were doing with your skilled fingers at this very moment.
“Again.” Kenma’s husky voice hit your ear, shivers traveling down your spine at the sound. You obeyed and curled your fingers into a fist again, causing the strands of hair between them to stiffen as you pulled. A broken moan left his lips, muffled into the crook of your neck. His hips stuttered, his rhythm breaking, and your breath caught in your throat when his cock shifted inside you, hitting at a new angle.
“Kenma.” You whined when he established a stable pace again, hips jerking into you over and over. He was panting and gasping as you twisted and tugged at his hair, the tingles from his scalp running down his spine and his blood shooting straight to his dick. Kenma groaned, feeling his thrusts faltering once more. You bit your bottom lip as the coil inside you tightened. You wanted to cum so bad, and lucky for you, you knew just what to do to get there.
You relocated your hand in Kenma’s hair to grip it closer to the roots and gather more of it in your hands. The silky soft strands were pliant and easy to manage as they bent to your will. You had always loved Kenma’s hair, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that you had noticed how his eyes would flutter and his breath would hitch when you ran a hand through it and gave it a playful tug. You did a lot more than that now, pulling so hard that Kenma’s head shot back, his bare neck extending and back arching a bit. You watched his eyes squeeze shut, his pouty lips part as he sucked in a sharp breath, eyebrows furrowing as the mix of pleasure and pain brought him closer to the edge right along with you.
“Faster, baby.” You whispered. “I’m so close. Wanna cum.”
Another harsh tug. Kenma let out a long drawn out moan, his neck and chest flushed and skin shiny with sweat. His arms struggled to hold him up, trembling under the weight of the sensations going through his body. But his hips didn’t fail you. He was frantic, pounding into you so hard and fast that it made your body stiffen up. Fuck, that was just right. And as your muscles locked, your orgasm washing over you, you tugged harshly on Kenma’s hair, an involuntary action that pushed him over the edge too, slamming his cock deep into you before releasing hot and white inside you, eyes rolling up and mouth dropping open. He rutted into you, moaning and shuddering as wave after wave of wonderful high traveled through his body, lighting stars behind his tightly closed eyelids.
You cooed and praised him when he collapsed on you, breathing heavily, body still shaking. You ran soothing fingertips through his sensitive head, softly scratching where you knew you had pulled the hardest, until his muscles were loosening up and he slumped completely, his weight entirely on you. Kenma hummed his appreciation, nuzzling his face into your neck. You smiled.

Hi! Saw your requests were open and I just had to stop by! Could I request a (not exactly angst bc the idea is funny but definitely in character for him) Bokuto x reader where he's ranting to a friend about how he loves to hug the reader and his friend just makes an offhand comment about how he'll probably crush her since he's a pretty big guy and he goes all emo mode about it. He doesn't want to hurt anyone :( Obviously we gotta add some comfort at the end for the silly guy

"I can’t wait to go home after this. I’m exhausted," Sakusa sighed.
"It’s not useful practice if it’s not exhausting, Omi-Omi. Be glad you’ve got teammates like us," Atsumu drawled, winking at his teammate and earning a disgusted glare from across the table.
"I thought today’s practice was fun! We got to try the new unorthodox version of our quick attack, and we've almost got it!" Hinata chirped next to Atsumu, with bits of his food flying from his mouth.
"I'm fine with it as long as you guys don't overexert yourselves during training," Lisa, Atsumu's girlfriend and the team's physiotherapist, chimed in from Atsumu's other side.
"What are you guys planning to do when you get home?" Meian asked, stuffing a rice ball in his mouth.
"Shower," was Sakusa's immediate answer.
"Probably do a little bit of meditation," Hinata mused.
"Call my brother to ask for more meal prep bentos," Atsumu said. An amused scoff came from his girlfriend.
"What about you, Bokuto?"
Having been focused on his food the whole time, Bokuto nearly choked on his rice when called upon by his captain. With tempura crumbs coating his lips, he smiled widely and announced, "I'm going home to give y/n a big hug!"
"You sure love hugging y/n, Bokuto-san!" Hinata chuckled, popping a salmon nigiri in his mouth.
"Of course I do! I love hugging her! She's so huggable and I just wanna squeeze her so tight all the time and transfer all of my love for her," Bokuto said, with with his fists in the air. "You guys should all hug your girlfriends tight! The tighter you hug her the more she'll know you love her!"
Shooting Lisa a lovesick smile, Atsumu stated, "We all love hugging our girlfriends, but I won't accidentally crush 'er to bits like someone." He nodded towards Bokuto.
Bokuto stilled, staring at Atsumu with confusion.
"Miya..." Meian warned under his breath.
"What? I mean, have ya seen the guy? He's huge! Could prob'ly flatten 'er if he wanted to," Atsumu continued, chortling at the thought. He stopped short as he noticed the glares from Meian and Sakusa. "What? What'd I say?"
By then, Bokuto was already in a completely different headspace. He had a blank expression on his face and a faraway look in his eyes. His shoulders were slightly hunched and his usually spiky hair seemed to droop at the edges.
Sakusa sighed what was probably the heaviest sigh in the history of mankind as Hinata stage-whispered to his teammate, "Atsumu-san, I think you hurt Bokuto's feelings."
Wide eyed, the blonde setter started to defend himself. "WHA-?! no, i- I DIDN'T EVEN-"
Sensing Bokuto's incoming emotinal shut down (or emotional episode, in this case), Lisa quickly tried to divert their attention. "Please, 'Tsumu. You wish you were as strong as Bokuto-san. Your spikes are weak as shit-"
" 'Cause I'm literally a setter!"
"-and not an all-rounder, which is why Kageyama-kun is ranked first in the country and you're second."
"BABE-"
"Maybe I shouldn't hug her anymore. I don't wanna hurt her. What if I really crush her one day? Then she'll really be flattened like a piece of bread. I don't wanna hurt her. So this means I can't hug her anymore. But I like hugging her. But does she even like my hugs?" Came Bokuto's voice. His brows were now furrowed and his face was etched with worry.
"Of course she does, Bokuto-san! I'm sure she loves your hugs, and you love her too much to ever hurt her, right?" Hinata and Lisa attempted to cheer up the saddened spiker.
Finishing the last of his food, Sakusa stood up, muttering, "I'm exhausted, I can't deal with this right now. My partner's here to pick me up anyway," As he walked past the other side of the table, he spoke to Atsumu in a low voice. "Only a jerk like you would say something like that to Bokuto, of all people."
"SHUT UP, OMI.”
Tumblr media
"I’m home…"
Your ears perked up at the sound of Bokuto’s voice and you immediately noticed his dejected tone. Closing your laptop, you got up from your desk and bounced over to the front door to greet him.
Sticking your head round the corner, you saw him place his stuff down by the counter before staring into space. His face was blank and devoid of emotion but his eyes were filled with inexplicable sadness. Seeing him like this tugged on your heartstrings and you knew he was going through one of his emotional episodes. You just didn’t know why.
"Hey, Kō! How was your day?" Slowly walking towards him, you reached out your arms to give him a hug but stopped short when he cried out.
"NO, DON’T HUG ME. I’LL CRUSH YOU."
You froze with your arms mid-air before you dropped them back to your side. He had one hand held out to stop you from coming closer and his face was tucked into his other arm. You could hear quiet sniffles coming from him and your heart broke seeing how upset he was.
"But you already have a crush on me, baby. And I have a crush on you too! I thought we’ve already established that?" You joked, trying to lighten the mood.
It didn’t work. It was like he didn’t even hear you, so you decided to give him some space (like Akaashi had advised). You guided him to sit on the couch while you went about the house finishing up your chores. After several minutes, he seemed to feel a little better and you decided to talk to him (also like Akaashi had advised).
Sitting by his side on the couch, you reached out and held his hands in your own. His eyes were downcast and he was avoiding your gaze as if his life depended on it.
"Kō? What's wrong?"
"Nothin'."
"Look at me, baby. Please? I wanna see your cute face," you cooed. He pouted for a while more (which was adorable, by the way) before he finally caved.
"Tsum-Tsum said I'll crush you if I hug you too tight 'cause I'm so much bigger and stronger than you. And I don't wanna crush you, I promise! It just made me sacred to think I might not know my own strength and end up hurting you in the process. That's why I'm scared of accidentally hurting you when I’m excited and I know that if I did, you wouldn't say anything which is why I don't wanna accidentally hurt you with my hugs in the first place-" He swallowed the rest of his words as you pressed your lips to his.
"Kō, I love your hugs. They're the warmest hugs anyone has ever given me. Don't tell my mom, but sometimes your hugs are even better than hers," You giggled softly. A small smile appeared on his face as he looked at you. "And it's not a bad thing that you're so strong. It makes your arms really nice to hug! I promise you'll never be able to crush me. I'm stronger than you think, you know?"
"Really? You really like my hugs?" He asked, hope in his eyes.
"Really. A hundred per cent. A thousand per cent. I wouldn't like it any other way, Kō," You reassured him, kissing him sweetly once more. Within seconds, his entire mood had shifted and he was now beaming.
"Okay! I can hug you now!" He cheered. Before you could process anything, you were held in your favourite set of arms and wrapped up in the warmest hug on earth. You hugged him back tightly and felt his soft lips press against the crown of your head. Snuggling into his warmth, you felt so lucky to have him.
"Oh my god, anyone who says your hugs aren't perfect are clearly stupid," You sighed happily.
"Tsum-Tsum is pretty stupid sometimes," Kotaro hummed.
You pulled away, gasping in faux shock. "Really?"
"Pfft, yeah. Even Lisa says so!" He guffawed.
Before you could reply, your phone buzzed with an incoming message.
Lisa: “hey girl! hope everything’s ok with bokuto. my boyfriend’s kinda stupid sometimes so he doesn’t think before he says stuff. hope bokuto’s not feeling too down!”
Y/n: “it’s all good! managed to cheer him up pretty quickly today, haha”
Lisa: “that’s good to hear. you’re the only one who can cheer him up like that, y/n! anyway, rest well, you two. see ya next week!”
Reacting to her message with a heart, you put your phone down and turned back to your boyfriend.
"So, you gonna hug me or not?"

ten - the pretty inarizaki manager
sakusa kiyoomi x reader
masterlist
fully written chap in 3rd pov, 2.6k words, kissing and one (1) use of the word dick… also not edited i apologize for any mistakes
Tumblr media
Sakusa stared at the girl standing between the Miya twins. She didn’t look like them, definitely not a sister they’ve kept hidden away. He watched as she looked up at Atsumu, her eyes lit up, as if he hung the moon and the damn stars in the sky. Yeah, definitely not a sister. A girlfriend.
A beautiful girlfriend whose laughter from across the hallway made Sakusa’s breath catch in his throat.
Of course he had a pretty girl on his arm. He was a great setter, not that he would ever admit it to Miya’s face, and he had the looks and charisma.
He pressed his back against the wall behind him and shoved his hands in his jacket’s pockets. He hated people. He hated crowds. He hated socializing. He hated germs. He hated that he found Miya’s girlfriend pretty.
He didn’t know how long he stood there, glaring at the mop of blond hair until Motoya appeared at his side. “You good?”
Sakusa’s shoulders tensed. “What do you think?”
Motoya laughed and glanced over his shoulder to see what his cousin was staring at. “Worried about Inarizaki?”
Sakusa rolled his eyes. “When have I ever been worried about a game?”
“I heard they’re playing against Karasuno later today. That’s definitely a match I want to see, hopefully we win in straight sets so I can catch it.”
“We will.” Sakusa said before pushing off the wall and heading to the court with Motoya.
Tumblr media
His chest heaved with shallow breaths. They were in the middle of their second set. He was kind of disappointed that it was going so smoothly for Itachiyama, he wanted to play against a team that truly challenged him. Weren’t teams supposed to be good to have gotten to this point in nationals?
He stayed away from the rest of his team as they gathered together to celebrate yet another point by Sakusa. His eyes fell on the stands where he had seen Atsumu’s unmistakably hideous hair from the corner of his eye earlier.
There she was, sitting beside Atsumu, their fingers intertwined as their hands rested on his lap. She rolled her eyes with a smile on her lips, then she turned to the court and stared right into Sakusa’s eyes.
He couldn’t look away. He should be embarrassed that he was caught staring, but then again, her eyes didn’t move away from him either. He could see even with the distance between them that her lips were parted, both of them refusing to cut the eye contact short.
Atsumu’s arm came up around her shoulders, making Sakusa snap back to reality. She’s Atsumu’s girlfriend. He had no business pining after a taken girl he didn’t even know if he would see again.
He focused back on the game, patting Komori’s back once they won as he quickly headed straight to his bag to pull on his jacket. He allowed himself one more glance to the stands, but his new crush wasn’t there anymore.
Tumblr media
He pretended that he didn’t want to go with Komori to watch the Karasuno vs Inarizaki game, his hands shoved deep into his pockets as they walked up to the stands. Komori gasped and left Sakusa behind to lean against the railing just as Karasuno scored.
Sakusa’s eyes were immediately drawn to her. She sat beside Inarizaki’s coach, engulfed in a maroon jacket at least a size too big for her, because of course Miya’s girlfriend is their team manager.
Her bottom lip was pulled between her teeth as she watched the game, holding a clipboard to her chest. She looked genuinely worried as she shared a look with the coach. He glanced at the score, Karasuno had already taken a set from them, but the current score favored Inarizaki. He glanced at Komori, who was spectating the match with wide eyes, not paying attention at all to him.
He stayed there with his cousin until the third set, realizing the longer he watched Karasuno play just how they managed to beat Shiratorizawa. He still resented that he would not get to play against Ushijima.
His eyes still darted to her after each point, watching her clap her hands together when Inarizaki scored or press her lips into a thin line when Karasuno did. He cursed under his breath when he realized he was smiling. Thank goodness he was wearing his mask. He had a reputation to keep.
The smile was wiped from his lips at the sight of her tears when Inarizaki lost. She covered her face with her hands and rested her elbows on her knees. He didn’t realize he was frowning until Komori poked his bicep and teased him about not getting to play against Inarizaki anymore. He was half right, that would’ve been his chance to see their pretty manager up close, but he was also upset to see her wipe her tears away before Atsumu ran over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
“I’m grabbing something to eat.” He murmured, leaving his cousin’s teasing remarks unanswered as he turned around and left. That was the last time he saw her in the tournament.
Tumblr media
Sakusa, naturally, was visibly confused when the following year, a red head was perched on Atsumu’s arm instead of her.
The pair stood against the wall, leaning close as he whispered something that made her laugh and turn her head away. Her makeup was perfectly done, lips sporting a maroon lipstick suspiciously similar to the color smeared on Atsumu’s lips. Her laugh was high pitched and made him slightly wince when he walked past them.
He turned around to join his team again, but the universe was cruel enough to make him stumble into her. His arm wrapped around her waist almost instinctively when he noticed she was about to fall. Her hands darted to grab onto his jacket.
She looked up at him, eyes widened when she realized who she had bumped into. A nervous laugh left her as she stabilized herself and let go of him. “I’m so sorry, Sakusa.”
He tilted his head in silent question, as if it was so strange that she knew his name. He was one of the top 3 spikers, of course she knew who he was. Sakusa scowled at his own cockiness almost immediately. In his defense, she was a manager, it was kind of her job to know these things.
“It’s fine.” He replied curtly. Seriously? The first time he talks to her and that’s all he says? He heard her sniff as she took a step back, the sound making him frown. “Are you okay?”
Her lips parted, as if her true feelings were on the tip of her tongue, then she paused. She nodded unconvincingly instead. “I am. Sorry, again.”
He shoved his hands into his pockets to hold back the urge to touch her again as she walked past him. A year without seeing her did not make him like this girl any less. If anything, knowing that she was single, only made him grow hopeful. Not that he would talk to her, clearly he had no idea what to say even if he grew the balls to walk up to her.
“Huh,” Komori appeared beside him. “Was that Inarizaki’s manager? She’s pretty.” Sakusa’s head turned around so fast he nearly gave himself whiplash and glared at his cousin, who held his hands up in defense. “Damn, my bad.” He laughed. “She’s all yours, Kiyo.”
He glanced at the back of her head again. If only she really was.

Sakusa either had the best or the worst luck in his life.
He stood at the entrance of the MSBY gym, freshly showered after practice, frozen in place with his mask in his hands when he met a very familiar pair of eyes. He hadn’t seen her since their third year of high school, when Inarizaki lost against Itachiyama in the semi-finals. She was wearing an oversized Onigiri Miya shirt and leggings, her arms crossed over her chest as she leaned against the wall.
Her lips curled into a small smile, a strand of hair falling on her face when she tilted her head to the side. “Hey, rookie. Almost didn’t believe ‘Tsumu when he told me ya signed with MSBY.”
Her smile slipped when he didn’t respond. He simply stared at her, eyebrows furrowed.
She cleared her throat and dropped her gaze to the ground. “Um… do ya think Tsumu and Bo are gonna come out anytime soon or are they gettin’ in more practice before that match y’all got next week?”
His eyes widened. When Atsumu spoke, he felt like a hammer was repeatedly hitting his skull. Hearing her voice for the first time in years… Kansai dialect had never sounded hotter.
“Who knows with those two.” He murmured, reaching up to put on his mask, as if that would hide the redness on his cheeks. “You know you can go in there, right?”
“Don’t wanna risk one of ‘em accidentally flashin’ me.”
Sakusa raised an eyebrow and slowly stepped toward her, shortening the distance between them. “Has it happened before?”
Her laughter had him feeling like that sixteen year old boy that hated himself for liking the pretty Inarizaki manager, when he turned to look at her just because she had laughed and it sounded like the music that would receive him in the gates of heaven. Just how pathetic was he to still feel his heart race at the same sound that made him fall for her? It had been years.
Before she could answer him with what must be an embarrassing story from before he joined the team, Bokuto shrieked her name as he ran past Sakusa and scooped her up in his arms. Her laugh echoed now as she was spun around, her hands holding tightly onto the silver haired man’s broad shoulders.
He heard Atsumu, but he didn’t react in time to duck away before the setter was slapping a hand on his back. “Thought ya were home already, Omi-omi.”
He cringed, both from the hand still on his back and the horrible nickname Atsumu still used just because he knew Sakusa hated it.
“Wait, home?” She asked, coming up to Atsumu’s side to hug him. “Ain’t ya comin’ to Meian’s with the others?”
Atsumu shook his head, answering for Sakusa. “He said he would rather die than spend more than the necessary time with the team.”
“No, I was just talking about you, Miya.” He rolled his eyes, his hair falling in front of his face before he raised a hand to push it back. He made a mental note to get a haircut soon.
“Y’should really come, gettin’ to know your new team ‘n all. Are ya gonna say no to all the onigiri I’ve been makin’ all afternoon with ‘Samu?”
She had to know what she was doing. She had to know that the way she was staring up at him expectantly, eyes wide and bottom lip slightly sticking out, was going to make him say yes.
He pressed his lips into a thin line as the rest of the team started coming out of the gym.
“I guess I can go at least for a couple of hours.”
Her smile would be the death of him.

Sakusa had no idea what possessed him to lean down and shut her up with a kiss. She looked so adorable offering him her guest room, rambling on when he didn’t answer because he was short circuiting. He didn’t even think it through, one moment he was staring at her lips and the next he was pressing his own against them.
Her lips were just as soft as he had imagined. His heart was racing in his chest and his dick hardening in his pants as he picked her up to sit her on the counter. He looked at her eyes, forcing himself to stare into them just so he wouldn’t drool and make a fool out of himself just from watching her legs spreading open to accommodate him.
His fingers curled into fists to hold back from touching her any further. This is not how he wanted things to go tonight. He just wanted to walk her to her apartment so he could leave to his aunt’s place knowing she was safe. He wanted to ask her on a proper date, to wine and dine her, to make this relationship real. He wanted to walk her to her apartment after their date, just like tonight, and kiss her in the doorway before asking her out on a second date, and then a third, and then a fourth.
Of course, that was only a fantasy. In reality, their dates would probably have months in between them, they wouldn’t even get to a second date after she realized a real long distance relationship wouldn’t work.
But the way she was staring up at him with eyes full of lust nearly made him cave in, nearly made him forget they didn’t live in the same city, or even the same prefecture. He stood there, lips a breath away from hers, as he tried to force himself to take a step back.
She pulled him toward her, her lips firm against his, all hesitation gone out the window. He forgot all the reasons why he kept holding her at arm’s length and pulled her flush with his chest. He groaned against her lips as she arched into him.
He had to stop. He had to push her away again before they got hurt. He couldn’t be the same asshole he knows Atsumu was with her.
The hand on her back moved up until his fingers were tangled with her hair and gently tugged. He realized she wasn’t relenting and pulled harder. He could swear he heard her moaning just as their lips parted and he could finally breathe again, the sound going straight to his painfully hard dick.
He stared at her parted, kiss-swollen lips, then forced himself to look into her eyes and the words started pouring out of his lips before he could hold them back.
He took a step back to put distance between them before he let himself think with the wrong head. His eyes fell on their cups and he grabbed them to place them in the sink.
“I shouldn’t have kissed you in the first place. I’m sorry.” He murmured. He wanted to do it right, he wanted to tell her he truly liked her– not that he would mention he’s been looking at her from afar for years, but he did want to be a gentleman, even if it was old fashioned of him to not kiss before the first date.
He shook his head. “I made a mistake.” He winced as soon as the words came out. “This isn’t right.” He tried again, but it was just as bad. Fuck, that’s not what he wanted to say. He probably made it even worse, if her sudden silence was anything to go by. “Listen, I’m not the best at explaining myself–“
“Ya said plenty, Sakusa.”
He glanced over his shoulder at the hurt in her tone. He had really outdone himself, hadn’t he? He’s even back to just Sakusa.
He stared at her for a moment longer. It didn’t seem the right moment to confess his feelings, she had already asked him to leave once. He wasn’t going to force himself in her space any longer. So, with a single nod of his head, he turned and headed to the genkan to slip his shoes back on and he left, forcing himself to walk away even when he heard her muffled sniff through the closed door.

being single was not exactly a choice on her part, it was more of a consequence of her demanding job as one of the best wedding planner in tokyo. her parents asked constantly if she was at least speaking with anyone romantically and when she would give them grandchildren. they pressured her to the point that she lied to them about having a boyfriend so they would leave her alone, only for them to say they want to meet him at her best friend’s wedding. time to come clean! or… find a fake boyfriend to keep her parents happy?
