Reason no. 1 why i was glad the olmakhan were introduced and why i firmly believe the war-oriented charr society wasn't always the norm. Something waaaay before humans were introduced to Tyria forced them to form a military dictatorship.

Yes! I think it's important to be clear that ... like, committing atrocities against civilians is not the only way for them to exist or have value. GW2 has sometimes leaned into the cool and edgy cat people aspect of mainstream Charr culture, but it becomes clear that it's deeply unhealthy and there are other ways for them to exist. And EOTN definitely established that they're capable of drawing a distinction between threats and non-threats, even if they don't always judge it correctly or realize how much their own actions are stabbing themselves in the ... er, paw.

I agree that it seems like something went wrong before humans were ever in the picture. The Charr were already highly militarized and pretty conquest-happy towards their neighbors if I remember correctly, but the Olmakhan show it's a cultural trait, not intrinsic to the species. So it could very well have arisen out of something we don't know much about, esp given that it's contributed to disastrous losses among the Charr as well as their enemies.

i think MK would mostly feel a sense of loss for the fact that in a way, things should have been like this, like when he “hatched” Wukong probably would have found him if it wasn’t for the fact someone or something brought it to Pigsy shop. He would have grown up with someone who could tell him how to be a stone Monkey and teach him his power. Surely, I think Wukong wouldn’t have been as good as a parent as Pigsy, and MK doesn’t regret a bit how things actually ended up happening, but it’s a bit of a case of “sometimes I imagine how my life would have been if it went this way”

@kehideni it's even worse when they were going to introduce Élely and Flopin anyway, so it's not like there wouldn't be characters that would appeal to children. It all amounts to that plot point, while masterfully handled and resolved, feeling completely unnecessary.

He really was a child with a mature mind. He only matured so quickly because of his experiences/traumas.

Being a 22 year old demi-god surrounded by friends who are mortals and age much faster than you is a sad fate. Yugo grew up with Amalia mentally but couldn't catch up physically.

He knew that being with her while he still looked like a child was wrong (so incredibly wrong). For him it was an inner battle of desire vs. moral. Which is why he was wishy washy with his feelings—kissed her then called it a mistake. Got mad when someone else kissed+held her in their arms. Was sad when he heard she was having an arranged marriage. Was jealous when someone else tried to marry her. Denied her being "his princess," yet thinks of her. Just flippy floppy (and we ate it up).

I'm glad he was able to physically catch up even though it removed hundreds of years from his life (and was another traumatic experience-like near death).

But it was worth it for us the viewer to see Yugo and Amalia now hold hands as equal adults.

He’s been waiting to hold her hand like this for a long time…All the inner turmoil about embarrassing her due to his once child-like appearance—gone. Now he can hold her hand in confidence.

Poor baby probably never thought it’d happen too. I guess near death experiences have its ups at times!! lol 😂
