Look @frenchbulldogmama I really did go buy one of these. It’s not purple though, more of a coffee color and I love it. These things really do keep you warm and snuggly.

Maybe you should bundle up, Megs. If there were storms earlier and it’s still cold, you could get sick again, and I’d hate to see you go through that again.
Are there any…I guess….Cybertronian coats or something that can help?
That might be a good idea. Better than trying to keep the weather out with tarpaulin.
Ksssschhh!
Snf. Maybe I should go inside.
Want some spiced hot chocolate?
Mmm. Yes please.
I'll make it, Prime. You get the fire lit.
I'll do that!
Go careful then, young'un.
He likes to show off his... special ability.

Weird winter hack
When you're drying your hair, make a gap between your clothes and your body and put the hair dryer in the gap,but also make sure you keep a bit of distance between the hair dryer, your body and your clothes, don't set your house on fire 🔥 y'all!
This warms up the clothes a bit
Idk yea it works for me
#weird winter hacks#feels dangerous but probably is not#keeping warm#probably not the best idea#i did it anyway#random winter stuff#don't burn yourself#idk what else to add

Sometimes a goofy product is good. I have surgical scars on my leg due to it being shattered and reconstructed. I don't mind them much, but hate how they look with sheer stockings.
I'm also a chronically cold person.
So these "fake sheer warm stocking" are THE BOSS.
My scars are invisible, legs are warm and it looks like I have on sheers!
They are "fleece lined tights" many brands exist. I think they work great.
(also good if you don't feel like shaving TBH)

Qzqrow week - Day 4 - Stranded Together
Oz groaned, staring out at the driving snow outside the windows of the little shack he and Qrow were currently taking shelter in. Go out and have fun, Glynda had told them. Work off some steam, things will be just fine at Beacon until they got back, she’d assured them both. It had been fun, at first, just acting like a regular Huntsman again, doing all the things the council wouldn’t have approved of. Danger was a part of the job, though… how could he ever send his students out here to face Grimm if he didn’t provide some sort of example to them? He wasn’t Leon, he’d never be content with just sitting back and talking about fighting. He doubted that he would have been even if he had still just been Ozpin, just himself without the weight of the second soul in the back of his head. As it was, though, well. He had heard about the infestation out here, had been meaning to do something about it for awhile now. At least this way, he was doing it himself as opposed to relying on his students to do it for him. And, just like that, he hated himself again.
There were muffled curses nearby as Qrow slumped against a wall, looking as scruffy as Oz felt and pulling from the flask he always kept by his side in real disgust. Oz frowned, knowing that Qrow was likely to blame his semblance for the fact they were trapped here like this. Personally, he believed finding this shack had been a stroke of good luck, really. If they hadn’t, then they’d still be out there, trying to brave the storm that had swept across this isolated area. It wasn’t properly in any one kingdom, after all. There had been a settlement here, once, long before anyone but he would have ever remembered, but it had failed rather badly due to circumstances actually very similar to these. The walls of this shack were very old, he wondered if it was one last relic from that original attempt? It would be hard to date the walls, of course, without access to the sort of machinery Atlas boasted, but it could potentially be done. If they both lived through this, at least. The Grimm they had come to find had been massive and very old, but it was dead now, too so, if nothing else then they had managed to do something good in the time they had out here?
The floor looked pretty even, too, so there’d be room for at least one if not two sleeping mats when and if either of them got tired as opposed to just annoyed by this turn of events. Qrow was still swearing though, so that might take awhile.
At least the fact that this had been a mission meant that Oz could actually wear his combat gear for once. It was slightly warmer than the suits and made him feel so much less like he was dressing up for the sheer effect over the function. He was and he knew it, there was a specific effect they wanted him to convey after all. And even after a decade in charge of Beacon, he was very aware that they still saw him as far too young. So he was told to dress older, the voice in his head instructing him to act older than he really was. He shook his head, banishing the thoughts. This wasn’t the time, though he might have a few words with certain people when he got back. This had been fun, he wasn’t entirely keen on going back to the gilded cage they’d placed him in. Placed Ozma in… whichever.
Qrow was still swearing, so he sidled up to him, trying to stay as quiet as he could. Qrow hadn’t noticed him move which was odd and slightly worrying, especially considering how observant he usually was. This really had shaken him, hadn’t it? Oh, he did hope that this wouldn’t make him argue that he shouldn’t have any backup again. Qrow called his semblance his curse, but Oz knew curses well and this one? Was less of one than he might think. Qrow was still ranting, so Oz reached out and kissed him, effectively shutting him up. Qrow moaned against his lips, eyes narrow, before kissing him back hungrily.
“It’s rather cold outside I’m afraid, Qrow. The snow might not let up for some time yet. People are aware that we are out here, though, we’ll be found eventually.” Oz stated, breaking the kiss briefly, smiling at his lover.
Qrow just rolled his eyes at him, waiting for Oz to finish what he was thinking. He’d rather enjoyed the kiss, he’d like to go back to it, after all it was a very good distraction from the weather outside. Could it have been his semblance, though, really? Bad luck aside, he’d never noticed it actively changing the weather before. Oh, he complained enough, but… whatever it was outside felt different, odd. He raised an eyebrow, still waiting and Oz grinned. That grin very much did not belong on the face of a man as old as Oz was pretending to be and Qrow chuckled slightly. It really was a wonder than any of them had ever bought the age Oz had once claimed. Not that he could complain much about the discrepancy.
“I only wondered if, since I am uncertain that there is any means of heating this place, we might not be best to make our own. Heat that is.” Oz blushed, not meeting Qrow’s eyes, it was adorable. Qrow smirked and drew him back into a kiss. Hopefully whoever was looking for them would take a few hours…

@ximerose liked this for a cuddle starter!
"Your body temperature is very low," Will comments, expression worried as he lays a hand over Tanner's forehead. Maybe it has something to do with the decreased hours of daylight during the winter, Will can't be sure. He knows all the Apollo kids tend to slow way down in the winter time--Nico joking that they're all basically solar powered--but this is a whole new level.
"Come on. I've got some hot water bottles and blankets. Sit next to me," Will beckons, already laying a couple blankets on one of the larger cots in the Infirmary. "I'll keep you warm."

For fun, here’s winter layering as demonstrated when taking my grandma’s disabled rescue maltese to go pee.
An under layer. While her hair can serve as the ‘sweat layer’ being a small dog on meds she gets very cold so we take no chances and have a layer under her sweater.
The sweater. Looser than the under layer, it helps provide an airy barrier of warmth both indoors and outside.
Moisture barrier. A proper coat that repels snow and provides insulation. When we get inside I will snuggle her inside my hoodie for a while once she’s out of the coat, and bathroom outings are no more than 2 minutes, on rare occasions 3.
Her ‘tent’ inside. Multiple small blankets she can manipulate as she chooses, which she often bundles to the front as an extra wind barrier. Beneath the crate there is a layer of cardboard and then a towel. Inside there is a folded blanket as cushioning followed by her mat on top. The blanket on the top covers three sides, and we only cover the front third when folded over the front so there is airflow but she can use the small blankets (each of which is about her length and width so she doesn’t get tangled) to either block the opening partially or burrow under. We often find two or three being used to block the entrance and one or two uses to snuggle with.
Crate is roomy enough she can stretch out and change positions but small enough to hold warmth. She often goes in on her own during the day to keep warm.
However not all dogs require or even want layers.
COLD WEATHER TIPS FROM SOMEONE WHO LIVES WHERE IT’S COLD:
I always see posts about layering clothing, but there are so many more creative ways to help keep you warm if you don’t have a lot of warm clothes. But first, a note on layering clothing:
-Your underlayer is your WICKING layer. That means it is a layer specifically to absorb the moisture your body produces. DO NOT USE COTTON AS A BOTTOM LAYER. Use merino wool if possible, but other good substitutions are nylon, polyester and rayon.
-Your middle layer is for insulation. You want AIR POCKETS in there, NOT tight fitting clothes. This is where you want to put your fluffy sweaters, your fleece, down, fur, flannel, or vests. If you do not have these, you can substitute with multiple layers of long sleeve shirts.
-Your outer layer is for keeping the cold away from your body. If you do not have a jacket, you can put on your thickest piece of clothing and then a raincoat over it. Windbreaker if you have one.
ALSO
-Jeans are the absolute worst at holding heat. Use only as a last resort.
-You can’t really ever have too many layers on your feet. Alternate tucking your layers of pants into your layers of socks to keep your ankles warm!
-Wear a hat OVER a hood if it will fit! This will keep your ears warmest.
TAKE OFF/OUT ANY AND ALL JEWELERY/PIERCINGS
-If you have a medical bracelet, DO NOT REMOVE IT. If you can, tuck a layer of clothes between it and your skin.
NON-CLOTHING TIPS:
-Raid your recycling. Gather all cardboard boxes and break them down so that they are flat. Put them on the floor to add more layers between you and the cooling house. Newspaper will also serve the same purpose.
-In an emergency, you can also layer newspaper between clothing layers. Don’t worry about looking stupid if you’re staying warm.
-If you have a tent, set that sucker up in whatever room you have decided to stay in. Stay in it and keep it zipped shut as much as you can, but do NOT cover the vent at the top. You can put the rain fly up, but make sure there is circulating air for you to breathe.
-You are probably not going to feel very hungry at times. DO NOT STOP EATING OR DRINKING. Digestion produces a lot of body heat and the food will give your body energy to keep itself going.
-The best foods are heavy and full of carbs and proteins. Eat nuts, eggs, pasta, meats, and beans. If you are on a diet, now you’re not. If you’re vegetarian… bulk up on those pastas and nuts.
-Try not to sweat. If you are finding yourself getting damp, take off the outer layer just until you start to cool slightly. Then redress! Your bottom layer should dry quickly, and being wet is dangerous.
-On that note, STAY ACTIVE. You are probably going to want to hunker down and snuggle up, but that will make your muscles cramp. Every 15-20 minutes do something that gets you up and about. Walk circles in the room, do a couple jumping jacks, stretch, whatever. Just enough to move some blood around your body. Don’t get sweaty or out of breath, it’s just a little movement.
-CHAPSTICK. ON YOUR LIPS. ON YOUR NOSE. ON YOUR EARS. ON YOUR KNUCKLES. Don’t let your extremities get dry or cracked.
SIGNS OF HYPOTHERMIA:
-Uncontrollable shivering -Slurred speech -Confusion or memory loss -Dizziness or lack of coordination -Inability to be woken from sleep
CHILDREN AND INFANTS!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.
-Children WILL get colder before you. Make sure they are properly bundled up.
-If you need to breastfeed, put a blanket over the both of you and wait a few minutes for the air to warm before removing or shifting your clothing.
-DO NOT COVER AN INFANTS FACE. ESPECIALLY WHEN SLEEPING. Keep them tucked inside your own clothes when possible. As close to your heart and stomach as possible.
-Put chapstick on children’s cheeks and clean their face often if they are crying or wiping at their nose. This will prevent cracked skin and irritation.
-Make sure your children are staying as hydrated as you! They are going to fuss and not want to drink cold things, but they NEED liquids.
SIGNS OF HYPOTHERMIA IN INFANTS AND TODDLERS ARE DIFFERENT:
-Shortness of breath -Cold, red skin -Lethargy or listlessness
Finally:
CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS. CHECK ON CHILDREN. CHECK ON THE ELDERLY. STAY SNUGGLED. STAY SAFE.
