to know a gentle body
nobody asked but ur getting it anyways, sniper/reader ficlet that'll probably get a +18 sequel, but for now, yanno (gestures broadly)
gender neutral reader, 2nd person POV, cw for weed and cigarettes, there'll definitely be more tags added when i post the second part
---------
The nights have been going like this for a while. You and the team have dinner, and Mick waits until everyone has left the room, and he asks you if you'd like to hang out with him in his van.
The first time caught you off guard, you'll admit; the Sniper was a quiet man. The longest sentence you'd ever gotten out of him prior was a whopping three words, but you were sure it wasn't shyness. He never seemed uncomfortable in a room with the others, but he stayed at the back and he stayed quiet - and if he could get away with it, he wouldn't be there at all. Always carrying his kukri, always wearing that hat and those shades, all the signs of an animal silently telling you to keep your distance, and so you did. You didn't think he'd approach you first.
He waited until you were alone, washing dishes; he kept a keen ear out for invisible flies on the wall of the French variety, and when he was sure only the breathing of 2 people were present, he cleared his throat.
"So, Jeremy told me you smoke." His voice reminded you of the stroke of an old cello, in an abstract way - low and almost meandering. It startled you but it was nice to hear, for once, not in monosyllables.
"...Yeah. I, um.." You scratched your neck, making a mental note to throw a boot at the Scout later. "I do. Why do you a-"
"Wanna come smoke with me? I have a fuckton of vinyls we can listen to."
You felt like you were making first contact with a different kind, but it was nothing like the movies.
"Uhm... y-yeah? Sure. Why not?"
And so a nightly ritual began.
It was in this way you became close friends, lounging in his little van, the air full of smoke and Pink Floyd, giggling and munching on homemade jerky. You waded in each others shallows, picking up pretty stones in the shape of favorite colors and childhood memories, the time he fought a saltwater croc for 20$, the time you mistook a wild skunk for a dog and almost got sprayed, until slowly the shallows weren't so shallow anymore. Before you realized it, you were sharing first kisses, first heartbreak, traumas, fears, desires.
It turns out you were right - Mick wasn't the least bit shy when it was just you and him. He explained in quite simple terms why he kept his distance from everyone.
"Wankers, the lot of 'em. Tavish 'n Jeremy are just 'bout the only ones I can stand, and even then.." You interjected with a snort - you knew exactly what he meant. He smirked and continued.
"Can't trust that fuckin' spook as far as you can throw him either. Damn stalker." He injected a bit of venom into that point. He was right too, the Spy loved blackmail.
The water was up to your chin when you realized you were looking at him differently - no, seeing him differently, knowing him differently. The tide was rolling in.
His earthen brown eyes lay deep in his skull, which was constructed of sacred, sharp geometry; lines and valleys and rises chipped out of sunkissed marble. Mahogany hair hung just at his shoulders, which were wide and strong; and just peaking out of the collar of his white undershirt, was greying chest hair. When he smiled, his lips pulled back and revealed teeth that almost should've been in the mouth of a wolf, not a man. It split his face in two, it was intimidating, and it was beautiful.
Tonight, you're sitting on the small couch in his van, passing a joint back and forth between you, The Mamas and The Papas crackling softly on his record player. He breaks the near silence with the crunch of the joint being put out in the ashtray, and pulls your legs into his lap. You don't mind, he does this sometimes, he seeks comfort in touch and soft skin - just wants to know a gentle body, and so do you. It's rare in your line of work.
Calloused fingers are tracing nervous lines into your calf, antsy little dots and dashes like frantic morse code and it's noticeably different from how he normally touches you. He's staring at a particular square inch of your flesh and his thick brows are furrowed; he's thinking hard about something. You know by now to just let him brew until he's ready, so you stay quiet, happy to admire his strong profile while he's distracted. You reach down to the floor to grab your cigarettes, pull one out and light it, and he watches you with a strange look in his oaken eyes, but not an unpleasant one. It's a look of complicated depth, of things unknown to you besides a tangible warmth. You stretch an arm abover your head, a few joints popping as you do, and stretch your legs out across his lap, not unlike a cat. As you stretch, you tap the glass.
"What's up?"
He looks away quickly, he didn't realize he was staring.
"I, um... I wanted to, um.."
He's never been nervous like this before.
"I wanted to ask you something." He's gone back to staring at your legs. You sit up on your elbows, a touch nervous yourself, now.
"...Yeah?" You try to take a gentle tone, but it just comes out as timid and small, seeking its own reassurance.
He pauses, he seems like he's rolling the words around in his mouth before saying them.
"You get lonely too, right?"
He's hushed now, his hands deathly still. It's rattling to see him actually nervous like this.
"...What do you mean? We're hanging out right now."
"That's what I mean. You come over, and you stay for a while and it's...." His mouth hangs open for a second like the words are scared to come. "I-I don't.... I don't want you to. Leave.... tonight."
There's a rush in your thorax. You're speechless for a second, almost thoughtless, and you sit up to face him. His lips are tinted red by his teeth worrying at them, those wicked teeth like something out of Dracula.
"Only if you want to, of course. It gets cold out he-"
"I'd really like that, Mick."
When he looks at you, it almost steals your breath. Damn his eyes, full of sepia-tinted expanses, dilated pupils pulling you in like supermassive black holes; you might as well have told him you'd marry him with the hearts and stars dancing in them. He blushes, actually blushes at you, and it'll be a long standing argument in the future about who kissed who first. All you know is that now, you're in his arms.

2024 Fic Roundup
Thanks for tagging me @hobbitwrangler! 💛 2024 is over, but I spent the past week in Galadriel fic lockdown, so I'm doing this now.
Total Words Published at end of year: 73,559 (including a handful of fic from other fandoms)
Fandoms: Mostly LOTR and Silm with some brief forays into Narnia, the Sevenwaters series, and Timeless.
Highest Everything (raw kudos, hits, comments): Keeping this to Tolkien fics:
Kudos: Like a Wave That Should Engulf the World (G, Faramir/Éowyn, 0.7k)
Hits: Across So Wide a Sea (G, Galadriel, Finrod, Celeborn, Celebrían, and more, 33.1k)
Comments: Across So Wide a Sea again
New Things I Tried: Quite a bit! I dug deeper into writing horror; wrote a number of characters and relationships I'd never written before; wrote my first all-OC fic; wrote my first epistolary fic; and wrote about the Second Age and early Third Age, which I had previously avoided because they're time periods I wasn't as familiar with. And, best of all, I finished a long fic for the first time! 🎉
Fic I Spent the Most Time On: Across So Wide a Sea, by far. I spent about three quarters of the year on it, between researching and writing. I hadn't initially planned on the fic covering such a sprawling length of time (end of the First Age to end of the Third Age), so I had to give myself some crash courses on parts of the Second Age and early Third Age that I wasn't as familiar with.
Writing it also brought up a lot of questions about things I had previously taken for granted and not thought much about, including things like "did the Elves try to figure out what happened to the Ring after Isildur's death and its subsequent vanishing from history? If they didn't, why, and if they did, how did they do so? And didn't they wonder why the Istari showed up in what was largely a time of peace (about one hundred years before Sauron took over Dol Guldur for the first time)?" And so on and so on. I spent a lot of time working out what Galadriel would have plausibly known and how she would have reacted to some of Tolkien's less-described events.
Fic I Spent the Least Time On: Any of my ficlets for the Three Sentence Ficathon, really, but probably either As Watchful As Any Living Thing (G, anthropomorphic Nargothrond, 0.1k) or As Thunder Echoing in the Deep Hills (G, Oromë, 0.1k).
Favourite Thing I Wrote: Not to keep going on about Across So Wide a Sea, but Across So Wide a Sea. I spent a lot of time digging into Galadriel's mind this year, and I'm proud of what I created. She's a hard character to capture (and I'd avoided writing her for a long time just because of that), but I feel like I truly understand her now. Who knew first person POV could be just the thing for getting into the heads of characters who intimidate you!
Favourite Thing(s) I Read:
the plain sight of our destiny is the cruellest thing of all by @hobbitwrangler (T, OCs, 4.3k): A fascinating, horrifying look at Umbar during Sauron's takeover, with a rich cast of characters and perfectly claustrophobic horror.
The Manner of His Return by @thelordofgifs (G, Faramir & Denethor, 1.6k): An aching depiction of Faramir's complicated relationship with Denethor.
call it peace by simaetha (G, Celebrimbor & Galadriel, Celebrimbor & Sauron, 3.6k): A hard-hitting timeloop fic about Celebrimbor's attempts to undo what he's started.
One day, but not today by @hobbitwrangler (G, Elros/Elros' wife, 3k): Do you want a thousand feelings about Elros and his unnamed wife and the inevitability of death? If so, read this.
with every seed you sow, let is wash away, wash away by @rarepairnation (G, Faramir & Éowyn & Legolas, 4k): The Faramir, Éowyn, and Legolas in Ithilien fic everyone needs, with a delicious chaser of the specter of Denethor and Minas Tirith hanging over Faramir.
Chrysalis by @cuarthol (G, Andreth & Bregor, 1.3k): The sweetest, tenderest depiction of Andreth and Bregor's relationship.
The Spinner by @searchingforserendipity25 (G, Galadriel, 1k): A proud, ambitious Galadriel who is just so determined to stick it to Fëanor. What more could you want.
A Sea Change by @sallysavestheday (G, Curufin & Finrod, 0.7k): A beautiful depiction of Curufin and Finrod's relationship, post-reembodiment, lyrical and full of forgiveness.
Writing Goals for 2025:
Finish some of the WIPs that have been wallowing in my WIPs folder for two or three years or more.
Really, just kick some WIPs out of the WIPs folder. Any WIPs.
Tagging everyone previously mentioned as well as @dreamingthroughthenoise @thescrapwitch @camille-lachenille if you're interested in doing this!

2024 Reflections
Thanks for the tag, @redroomroaving . I was literally reading Lia’s version of this at that exact moment, thinking that I might pinch the format without a tag - and then lo and behold, you pop up in my notifications ;) I'll tag the usual suspects, @forget-me-maybe @dutifullylazybread and @darkurgetrash <3
What's been your biggest learning point this past year?
I've learnt a lot of things about writing.
I can push through a writers' block. Sprints are the answer, and I may go in several wrong directions until I get through, but I will get there. And when it starts flowing again, it will ALL be worth it.
No amount of sprints can make me exceed a certain writing speed, or stop editing as I go completely. I've practised, and I've got better at just writing [synonym for hot] or whatever in brackets when I can't pin down the exact word I'm after - but writing stuff I'm really annoyed by will throw me off my rhythm and I just have to exorcise the issue. 500-600 "good" words in an hour is a pretty decent top speed, and I'm happy with what I'm writing, so I've learnt to accept the slower pace I work at than some people I know in fandom!
Relatedly, I'll never have time to write everything I'd like to, and I have to accept that and prioritise accordingly. Early in the year, I happily offered to take SFW prompts, did a few, and realised that although I liked what I'd written, my heart was not truly in it and therefore it wasn't sustainable. NSFW ones I find more easy to do; it's a fun and filthy way of giving back to my followers, which is one of the main reasons I like doing it. (And also there's been some DELICIOUS ideas that I wouldn't have come up with on my own!). But I've let myself be more judicious about it, picking ones that really inspire me to write whole ficlets/fics for, and trying not to stress about the pile.
I also found a process for my own fic ideas that I love and desperately want to write, but don't think I have time for: I make notes, discuss eagerly with @krawwan ... and then leave it to sit. The germs of the story are safely written down, and the idea will either grow roots or disappear. If it grows, I'll probably open my computer at some point and find I have one of those top-speed writing sessions, and win-win, it's a WIP now. If not, that's alright! There's always a chance it'll sprout in the future, but for now it's clearly not captivating enough to spend time on.
How has your writing developed this past year?
I've got better at layering subplots. I think, anyway. I've got better at outlining, that's for damned sure! I've also had fun trying out small tweaks to style/voice.
Finally, I've tackled heavier subjects. That isn't to say all writing should - but I feel like whilst Sharp Teeth and its follow ups took a pretty light touch, Planar Tears has given me the space to explore. Depression, guilt, grief and racism/oppression (via Rolan's story) all come up at various times, and we're going to run face-first into Lorroakan all too soon.
(That's not to say a light touch isn't good too; fantasy adventure stories tend to err on the light side as a genre, and I'm writing in a world full of conniving hags and tentacle-waving baddies. I don't think Sharp Teeth would have benefited from anything more "difficult"; sometimes you don't need to dwell on a theme in detail for it to be evident, and I've been a bit worried that some of Planar Tear's more intense discussions have been too heavy in tone. But that's all part of developing as a writer, or so I keep telling myself; you have to experiment to find out).
Bad writing habits?
Writing too late at night.
Convincing myself that THIS is the time I've really gone and lost my writing skills for good when I've got writers' block.
Yapping every three sentences about my writing when I should just be writing.
Mmmm... I wouldn't say it's "bad" per se, but sometimes I realise that either I make an interesting decision, that requires time and thought and research, or I make a simple, easy one, and get something finished. (It's hard to point to exact examples, because I often forget them afterwards, but it's definitely a feeling I've had several times). I think many writers find themselves trying to nail their own personal equilibrium between "good" and "finished", and sometimes I think I let the lure of the posting button summon me a little early.
Favorite thing you wrote?
Every time I say Planar Tears, lol. But honestly, I'm proud of everything I've got up on AO3; I've re-read and enjoyed them all.
Biggest win?
More than having written a lot (and of consistent quality)? Finding a (small in the scale of the BG3 fandom) audience who enjoy my writing. I love seeing returning commenters and kudos-ers across my different works and Rolan pairings. On the occasion I've got comments like "I was supposed to go to bed and then I got THIS EMAIL", I've felt both very happy and very lucky. It's one thing for someone to stumble over my fics and enjoy it enough to kudos it once; it's another for them to like it so much they sign up for emails and chew through all the stuff I've written. That's amazing and inspiring and wonderful.
(It's also very motivating in terms of knowing that if I post, someone's probably going to crack it open pretty soon and take a good look!)
Goals for the new year?
Be a little more balanced about writing. Balance is not a thing I am good at; I'm an obsessive person, an all-or-nothing person, forever burning the candle at both ends. My real life job is also a lot of mental work, and between that and writing I went hard this year. The job is a non-negotiable, and very important to me - so whilst I've got through this year, I've got to be more sensible. (Don't worry, my job is fine - but taking care of myself fell by the wayside a bit)
OOOOOOOOOONNNNNNN THE OTHER HAND, it is so easy to feel guilty about writing fanfiction for a hobby, especially smut. It's easy to put down every cold to some karmic punishment for having stayed up too late writing the perfect orgasm - when plenty of people are cutting into their sleep with more regular hobbies like Netflix or early morning runs or whatever. Naturally, I think I suck more than all of these people.
So I'd like to pry apart the twisted braids of "genuinely having so much creative energy that I want to expend on stuff I love", "needing to post constantly because I love being productive to a pathological degree", "cleaning out the vestiges of shame and general societal opinion about my hobby" and "literally just go the fuck to bed please". We'll see how well I do!
(Oh yes, and finish Planar Tears!)
Your favorite words of the year, aka the words you check each chapter for, making sure you didn't repeat them 788 times?
Rolan has an allotted amount of scowling, and Catrin only SO many lip twitches, that they're allowed to do in each installment of Planar Tears. Calm it down, kids.
I also love a filthy smut noise, and have to do the moaned/groaned/gasped/whimpered comb-through to check I haven't repeated them in close succession. Rolan will do all four basically every time though, I've got no shame about that.
What are you excited for in the new year?
Finishing WIPs! I've got three oneshots 50-70% drafted, and I know they'll be so satisfying to finish. I'd like to clear the decks before I crack open my NEXT bunch of short fic ideas.
Returning to give Fae Bindings and In Service of Magic new chapters. I love these fics, and I'm very grateful for the readers who care about them despite the updates being on the slow side. (I do think it's less urgent in very smut-oriented fics, because although I care too much about the plot of both of them, you don't need to be following it particularly closely to get horny about it... is my attempt to reassure myself anyway lmao).
Life stuff. I'm going on a short holiday soon to meet a beloved tumblr friend, and that's very exciting. My work is also going to be a big focus of this year, and I'm feeling very positive about what I might be able to accomplish.
In short - exciting things <3

Find The Word Tag Game
Oooo this is interesting!!! Thank you so much @the-golden-comet for the tag!!!
Rules: Share snippets of your work containing each of the words the previous poster selected for you (optional addition: if you can't find the word in your WIPs, or you simply don't have any WIPs, you can just write a sentence around the word)
My Words: car, bright, stand, live
Your Words: rock, deny, sweat, trail
Car: (From an untitled PWP ficlet)
The day was beautiful and serene– a rarity as precious as a gemstone. A rarity that deserved celebrating. So Solo brought out an expensive bottle of champagne, put it on ice to keep it cool, rolled up his sleeves, and tied his most sentimental apron around himself to get started on an elaborate meal. Gaby was on the other side of London working on her project car in a garage U.N.C.L.E. deemed safe, and wouldn't be home until just after dinner was complete. Illya had been gracious enough to run to the grocer down the street from their apartment for an ingredient they were missing, but he wouldn't be gone for longer than ten minutes.
Bright: (From "The X-Men From U.N.C.L.E.")
Solo set his jaw, but said nothing. The woman was seeping stress that was simultaneously metallic and electric, like licking a live wire. She didn't bother with greetings, she just threw out her arms and demanded, “Where’s Lehnsherr?!” “He'll be joining us shortly,” Charles closed his eyes and pressed two fingers to his temple, “In approximately thirty seconds, to be exact. He's been to pick up a last minute addition.” On cue, another car rumbled into view, rolling to a stop near them. The car had waves of coppery anger rolling off of it. Anger and grief and the barely-there, rotting taste of fear. Its source thundered out of the passenger seat with every predicted emotion etched onto his beautiful face. Charles rushed the absurdly tall man brightly, increasing the fear stench, if only briefly. “What a pleasure to have you change your mind, Illya,” he trilled, shaking the newcomer’s hand, “Truly a delight! Please, allow me to introduce Moira MacTaggert, Napoleon Solo, and Gabriella Teller.”
Stand: (From an untitled Library AU)
Illya looks up from the newspaper he's stamping and nods curtly. She calls out a whispered thank you and hurries towards the auditorium while he neatly stacks the papers and magazines into piles of “Checked In” and “Not Check In”. He stands from the rolling chair and reaches the wire rack where they keep the book lists in one step. A low whistle and a laugh from behind him makes him roll his eyes, fondness warming his chest all the same. “I'll never get used to that,” Cheri teases from her desk, leaning to the side to see around her monitor, “You sure you don't wanna coach my son?” “I did not run track, you know this,” Illya reminds her. “Whatever you say, Mr. Six-Foot-Five,” Cheri chuckles to herself, then disappears behind her computer screen again.
Live: (From "The Most Dangerous Game", a Whumptober response I am expanding on!)
"Gentlemen, I cannot begin to properly express my apologies for this mess I've made. My misguided intentions could have cost you your lives, and for that, I am deeply sorry," Waverly removed his glasses as he stood and cleaned them with the handkerchief in his breast pocket, "I'm afraid I've overstayed my welcome. You're free to discharge yourself whenever you're ready. Please take care of yourselves. I'll see you three in office in a few weeks. Or less, if you're up for it."
Soooo I may have cheated a little and included plurals/adverbs but I don't have many WIPS that actually have writing in them yet lmaooo
Anyway, no pressure tagging @pippinoftheshire @huggiebird @yallwildinrn @too-young-to-fall-in-love @times-up-alone-tonight
@nicijones @cha-melodius @heytheredeann @thattripleabattery and anyone else who wants to join!! 💕💕💕💕

Fandom creators tag game
Thank you @waytooinvested and @fabulousglitch for the tag!
1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?
Proudest fic - There are a few I tend to choose from, but right now it's Even Though You're Kryptonian
Fanvid - My Rise vid
2. What fandom(s) do you create for?
Supercorp. (And a very tiny amount of Dansen and soon Rojarias.)
3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?
Supercorp!! I don't think it's a controversial ship, lol.
4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?
They are to me 😌
5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?
My first obsession (and still greatest love) was Xena. I started watching the show a few episodes into season 1, when I was 6 years old. It was very formative.
That said, I didn't really get involved in any fandom communities until Supercorp (in early 2022).
6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?
I don't think I get super unhinged, but as a pilot I did like creating this dumb incorrect quote.
7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?
I was getting frustrated at not being able to find certain types of fics, and it struck me that... I was allowed to write my own.
8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?
Yup! My partner read my first two fics in support, and several of my IRL friends have read at least one of my fics because I didn't have the good sense to keep that information to myself when I was getting started. It's mortifying lol. But my friends are very cool people.
9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?
Fanworks of fanworks are amazing!!! I've been incredibly lucky to have that happen three times (post), and gotten asked for permission for a different continuation and a podfic that may eventually happen.
10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?
Angst. Longing. Bits of compassion too.
11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?
I love each and every one of my commenters ❤️
Honestly, the compliments that stick with me most are "I came back to reread this" or "this idea is still living rent-free in my head" type comments. I think that's what all writers and artists want - to feel that their art lasted in someone's mind beyond the first time seeing it.
12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)
Technically it was more than 24hrs ago but this art by @awaitingrain is so fucking cute!!
13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)
I have a ficlet (that's getting out of control), here's a snippet:
Lena was cozying into the warmth of Kara’s body, when Lena spoke. “I’m thinking of visiting my mother’s house soon,” she said shyly. “I want to find out more about her. Where I came from.”
“That sounds lovely,” Kara said softly.
“Do you want to come with me?” Lena asked.
Kara hesitated.
14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)
Both of them are on my reading list 👀
15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?
Some of my comments are very simple, some of my comments are very long. I've tried to get more consistent about commenting ever since starting to write, because I know how important it is. Unfortunately, I also read a lot less now that I'm writing more.
16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?
I have 5 WIPs! I'm very confident I'll finish them all.
17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?
I guess my worldkiller Kara fic took a bit over 3 months, though part of that was spacing with the Supercorp Big Bang.
I tend to write fast. One of the things I'm actually trying to do is slow down to fill out the story a bit more.
18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!
Lena has a bad day in the lab (Clockwork).
19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?
I totally engage in fanart from other fandoms that cross my dashboard, particularly korrasami. I don't tend to read fanfic of stuff I haven't engaged in, though.
20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers
This fanvid is probably my favorite in the entire fandom.
Suggested tag list, but there are no rules here, follow your heart.
A mutual you have never actually spoken to but think seems cool - oh there are so many of these!! I am tagging @mssirey who I don't think I've had a proper convo with yet
The most recent person whose content you engaged with (eg read a fic, reblogged art, whatever form you feel best fits) - @thealieninhiding (though by the time I finish this very long post it might be someone else lol)
Someone whose content you saw via tags/reblogs and you followed them because of it - @jadedloverart!
Someone in your fandom that you think makes cool things - @ekingston
Someone in a different fandom that you think makes cool things - tagging @thatonebirdwrites who makes korrasami stuff too
Someone you always tag on things like this - I'm not sure there's someone I always tag but I'll pick @nottawriter as one of the people I frequently tag when I do these things
Someone you have never tagged before - @rebellionbear have I tagged you before?? you are cool so I am tagging you!
Someone you would like to get to know better - @femslashhistorian
Someone who makes art you like - @awaitingrain along with others above!
Someone who writes fics you like - @luthordamnvers along with others above!

He's slowly putting the pieces of the puzzle back together that the kid is his own, but what the hell landed them in the hospital? comaduo; 9-1-1. (have been informed my rough draft alone was pure evil~)
🛒 loser!dad & dumpster!baby au. Started drafting this mostly for my own amusement, but it's slowly becoming a fully fleshed out AU. Probationary Firefighter Nash finds a baby in the trash. This is the story of single father Bobby and his adopted gremlin of child Evan. comaduo silliness; 9-1-1.
📺 "Thespis" ficlet. Casey and his messy thoughts about Danny, their anniversary, the night they met, and a few of the nights in-between. Very prosey, close to being complete. pre-dancasey; Sports Night.
Can you tell where my biases lie? 😅

sickest, sexiest sentence sunday!
I was tagged by @wynnyfryd @vecnuthy @steddieas-shegoes @sidekick-hero & @patchworkgargoyle in this, as well as tagged by @griefabyss in the "last sentence" tag game so THE RULES
instead of posting your last sentence, post the sentence you’re most proud of from the last seven days — the one that surprised you or cracked you up or made you cry, the one that made you mutter to yourself “hot damn, i’m good” — and then tag as many people as there are words (or as many as you want)
because I was tagged by so many people and i've written a few banger lines, i think i will do multiple sentences below the cut. ;p I don't know if they're all within the last seven days because work has been hell but they're banger lines TO ME
And the no-pressure tags: @scarcrossdlvrs @judasofsuburbia @ghostevie @vampeddie @starryeyedjanai @legitcookie @thefreakandthehair @matchingbatbites @stobinesque
From a Secret project:
If he hadn’t already been trying to figure out how to ask to go along, that would have convinced him to give up the Grinch schtick. His heart growing three times its size and that shit. Whatever.
From a tigareth ficlet I posted recently:
They were both stuck on this dumb trip out together and instead of burying the hatchet, Gareth was just going to keep swinging and swinging and swinging it until they were both bleeding apparently.
Annnnd a little ficlet I'll be posting soon:
“Where’s m’kiss?” Charlie mumbled sleepily around his mouthful of Eric’s shirt before dropping it with a frowny little mlem and wiping his lips.

"You'll never find them," Jaskier pants, but he still has the vitriol to spit spite into his torturer's faces. ”Never."
He gave his word that he'd keep Geralt's secret to the grave, and if his silence is the only weapon he has left then he'll make it into a blade they can cut themselves bloody on.
A fitting end for the Witcher's bard.

Six Sentence Sunday Monday Tuesday!
Tagged by @lesbianlotties - neither of us is very good at doing these at the assigned day huh? xD thanks for the tag! Also absolutely feel tagged in the other tagging memes I did recently, I'm bad at remembering who I've tagged and haven't tagged in stuff and I worry about tagging ppl twice and forgetting other ppls urls adsfg
Ava wants to turn over and bury her head under the pillow, but instead she almost rolls off the bed, and then there's the not unfamiliar vertigo of realizing that you haven't been awake after all, because apparently she only just woke up now, she's way closer to the edge of the bed than she had thought, it's already light out, and oh shit is that someone quite insistently knocking on her door? Well, at least she doesn't actually have a hangover.
"Coming, coming!" Ava shouts, stumbling out of bed and hitting her leg on the bedpost. Cursing, she pulls on a robe because she tends to sleep naked and while she wouldn't care about a postmates or amazon delivery guy getting a peek, she didn't order anything, has no idea who might be at the door, and if it's work then she should be at least somewhat covered up.
And if she has never owned robes like this before living in Vegas, well, it's just that she's come to appreciate the practical aspects of how comfortable they are and easy they are to throw on, it has absolutely nothing to do with it making her think of Deborah.
That two out of three robes are QVC merch is also totally a coincidence.
@emeraldorchids I'm still trying to write that drunk calling Jimmy fic I promised, the set-up just always keeps getting out of hand xD but maybe this will be it! I'm trying to finish this part today tho bc I saw the may trope mayhem prompt for today is 'tending to injuries' or sth and I got inspired to add that into it, so maybe I'll split the fic into parts again o.o
This is also gonna be a follow-up to the ficlet @wilfriede made a podfic of btw!
Tagging everyone mentioned above and @imagitory @smittyjaws @purlturtle @batnbreakfast @xvnot15 @squishmittenficfan @amysnotdeadyet @dkc2017

Oh Hi! It's from one of the ao3 collections of prompts the one with Mei & Tenzo that's a last chapter? I reread stuff on Ao3 to see if a quote popped out and that was the one the full sentence starts with something about is anyone allergic to cats? - anonymous
OH OKAY!!! I know what you're talking about now, anon! That's Terraforming the Red Planet from last year's Ask Box Advent Calendar (2022) that @damnsmartblueboxes prompted. I loved that ficlet!
I guess the search function really has gotten worse because I feel like I would have been able to find that before? Or maybe the search function is ONLY tags which... I consider worse at least...
Anyway, thank you for clarifying, because I would very much like to do a remix on this ficlet.
So the pieces we have to play with are:
the chosen quote to be remixed into the title, "the only reasonable objection (to her increasingly alarming plan)"
the characters involved which are Shikako, Mei, Zabuza, child!Haku, child!Sand Siblings, and Tenzo
Shikako either "kidnapped/rescued" all of the others from their respective terribad situations
she has plans to revitalize the Sora-ku region (and maybe kidnap/rescue the entirey of the Uchiha clan) of which above listed other kidnap/rescue-ees would be very helpful in doing so (maybe)
First thing's first: if the "her" in the title is NOT Shikako then it COULD be either Mei or Temari. Considering the original ficlet is from Mei's POV--and also I consider Temari to be relatively level-headed--it would make sense that whatever the alarming plan is would then be Mei's.
Cool. If that's the case, what scenario exists such that Mei can have an alarming plan that members of several other villages would listen to (despite the increasing alarm of said plan)? Some kind of international threat/phenomenon that is affecting multiple nations, including three of the big five.
Obviously that threat/phenomenon is Shikako.
So what's coming to mind--turns out it's another @damnsmartblueboxes Ask Box Advent Calendar prompt, this time from 2020!--is actually some sort of variation of still waters (run deep).
In that fic--which is also a post Split Gardens--Shikako has been going around fixing various international things before finally settling/reviving Uzushio. Shisui gets sent out to investigate because the Uchiha clan have successfully coup-ed (or maybe Hiruzen had a heart attack and then they just killed Danzo so everything worked out okay) Konoha and they need to see what the heck is going on.
Instead, what if Shikako never settles down? She just keeps going around the world pulling off literal earth changing miracles and disappearing before anyone can get mad at her (or thank her.) The civilians (and some of the younger/weaker shinobi) start praying to her as a god because, yes, they know there are powerful jounin-level shinobi who can make dragons out of water or turn into a giant chakra kaiju or whatever, but do any of them help grow crops when there's been a three year drought? I don't think so!
Anyway, imagine all that, but also Shikako is, like, seven.
I mean, the international coalition doesn't KNOW she's seven, but if/when they finally catch up to her, they will find this teeny tiny little girl with the power of a god.
So the way I would do this--and this is probably incredibly influenced by the fact that an ever-growing mass of metal and sinew by backupdaughter has recently updated--but it WOULD be something like...
Tenzo/Yamato's gets a mission to look into the rumors of another Mokuton user floating out there in the world. At first, it just seems like scutwork--a few farming villages' crops are doing better than predicted--UNTIL he hears news of an over night spontaneously appearing oasis in Land of Wind, then it's serious.
Obviously, the Sand Siblings are not doing so hot politically after the failed invasion of Konoha. They're still undoubtedly the most powerful shinobi--or at least, potentially--of Hidden Sand, but they're still teenagers at this point who have to deal with the fallout of their dead father's mistakes. If they can find this mysterious being who can make oases in the desert--in the most DANGEROUS, DEAD part of the desert--then maybe they can prove to the village that they are still the scions of the desert, leaders of Hidden Sand.
I'm unsure when in the Mist Rebellion's timeline we are. Because on the one hand, if Mei is already Godaime, then it makes sense as to why her plan would be listened to even if it is by members of two others of the big five rather than her own people. But if she was already Godaime I can't see why she, AND Zabuza, AND Haku would be available to trek around the Elemental Nations in search for mythical being who may or may not be a god or a Mokuton user or just a really good political bargaining chip.
Either way, the (alarming) plan is this: since the mysterious they're all trying to catch goes out of their way to protect civilian towns/villages and seems to avoid the major Hidden Villages, Mei is going to set off a volcano :)
...
Okay, not REALLY, but she can certainly fake it enough to make the nearby civilian village very nervous--perhaps it's supposed to have been dormant for decades/centuries, so the fact that it appears to be waking up is enough to draw out the mysterious being.
Teeny tiny figure riding a massively antlered war deer (that summons hasn't been seen in decades and even then the people who would have seen them aren't the people on this mission, so it may very well appear like deer are the messengers/mounts of gods) comes through, starts building a fuinjutsu array to protect the civilian village, and the multinational team go in and scoop her. And, like, they don't have any hostile intentions, so she (and Heijomaru) were caught off guard.
Zabuza is just like! A child! An overpowered child! Tenzo/Yamato is confused and or having flashbacks, trying to figure out if this kid does have Mokuton (and is thus part of a later batch of Orochimaru's experiments, in which case does this now make him an older brother?) or if it is SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY. The Sand Siblings and Haku are also conflicted in the sense that they also remember being incredibly overpowered children with too much on their shoulders but that they wished someone had spared them the pain.
And Mei is just like... all according to keikaku (keikaku means plan) :)
Also, if you're wondering why Shikako appears to be a seven year old in this... it's because I think it would be funny? And it does sort of remix the vibes of the original Terraforming the Red Planet... I guess the diegetic reason would be... maybe the last world she was in, their main issue was Jashin, so when she appears in this world she decides to prioritize locking him out and wrecking his temple first. He/his monks don't really go down without a fight, but rather than turning an entire country to ash, it just eats a significant chunk of her life energy. But because she's imbued with Gelel/more in touch with her own godly nature, she just de-ages physically instead. So still mentally the same and still with access to all of her techniques/abilities/stuff via hammerspace. Just teeny tiny. :)
"the only reasonable objection (to her increasingly alarming plan)" for title remix?
I’ll be honest anon, I don’t know where this title is from. I’m trying to look back at my fic to see if I ever used some variation of “the only reasonable objection;” I don’t know if the search function of tumblr has gotten worse, but I cannot find it. So I don’t really know what direction to go in for the title remix, because my interpretation of title remix is this post in which I received a quote from a previous ficlet and the challenge I made for myself was to take the quote and original ficlet, get the vibes, and then shake it up into a “sort of same but different” ficlet.
Ie, the original was about Shikako meeting a young Ibiki who is suspicious of her existence. The title remix was about a T&I Ibiki trying to get a suspicious Shikako to trust him with the truth.
So if you could maybe clarify your prompt or remind me which ficlet that quote is supposed to be from, I can try to do a proper title remix on it. Or if that's not what you were aiming for, could you clarify what you mean by title remix?

Microfill: Cuddle Puddle! Someone got out of the Healing Pod and everyone wants to cuddle.
i’m sure this ‘someone’ will come as a big surprise. :)
–
When Shiro stumbles out of the cryopod, shivering and kitten-weak, the team is ready for him.
Keith and Hunk are first by Shiro’s side. Hunk wraps Shiro in a blanket immediately, the fabric warm and fresh from the space-heater Pidge built to live in the infirmary. Shiro burrows gratefully into the warmth. With Keith’s help, he staggers down to sit on the steps, blinking rather owlishly at the sudden light. Keith presses up against his side as Hunk drapes a second blanket over Shiro’s shoulders, just in case.
“You,” Pidge announces, hands on her hips as she bends down to exactly nose-height with Shiro, “are not allowed to do that again.”
“Noted,” Shiro croaks.
Lance snickers and butts Pidge gently out of the way, pressing a steaming mug into Shiro’s hands. “Here you go, Shiro. Drink up.”
“Thank you.” Shiro sniffs at the mug’s contents curiously, at first content to just hold the warmth in his hands. “What happened? What time is it?”
“Mid-afternoon,” Keith supplies. Shiro takes his first sip, humming with delighted surprise. Hunk beams, large hands bracing Shiro’s shoulders. Keith waits until Shiro’s taken a second and then a third sip of the hot chocolate before he clarifies: “Mid-afternoon, three days later.”
Shiro chokes.
“Don’t kill him!” Lance exclaims, quick-wrapping his hands around Shiro’s before Shiro can drop the mug. “He just got out!”
“T-three days?!” Shiro sputters.
“Which is why you aren’t allowed to do that ever again,” Pidge repeats, glaring.
“It was just a scratch,” Shiro protests weakly.
“Sure,” Lance says, “Scratches just so happen to be poisoned all the time. Coran says you were lucky. Don’t put us through that again, man. I’m serious. Keith got all morose and woopy.”
“I did not,” Keith says.
Lance presses the back of his hand to his forehead dramatically, the pose totally ruined by his shit-eating grin. “No, I can’t! I’m not ready to lead Voltron-”
“I’m going to kill you,” Keith growls. He makes no move to get up.
Shiro tilts his head back, locking eyes with Hunk. “Three days?”
“Three days,” Hunk confirms. He squeezes Shiro’s shoulders. “Which is why we’re taking the rest of the day off. Allura and Coran said the poison’s all gone, but you might be a little weak for a day or so.”
Shiro frowns down at his mug as if it would contain answers (or better yet, a fast forward button for recovery). “Do we have time?”
“We’re making time,” Keith says, firmly.
“That’s the leader-Keith we all know and love,” Lance crows. “Shiro, hurry up and finish your drink. We’ve got plans.”
Shiro blinks. “Plans?”
“Would you look at that,” Coran comments softly, several vargas later.
All five of the Paladins are fast asleep in the main lounge, limbs akimbo and sprawled heavy in slumber. Shiro’s stretched out the length of the curving couch, snoring peacefully. Pidge is curled up practically on his chest, glasses set neatly on top of the couch and guarded by four snoozing mice. Keith’s fast asleep along Shiro’s right, body twisted in a way that shouldn’t be physically possible but somehow keeps all of him on the couch and not the floor. Lance is on Shiro’s other side, squished comfortably between Shiro and the couch; Hunk’s asleep right next to him, legs tangled up with both Shiro’s and Lance’s. A soft pile of blankets covers all five of them, artistically tossed and kicked loose to not cover noses or the occasional foot. The light of the softly playing ‘moo-vee’ washes over faces and hair, highlighting shadows lined in sleep.
Allura smiles fondly, gesturing Coran down the hall so as to not wake their sleeping friends. “I suppose we can ask Shiro tomorrow if he is feeling better. Coran, what is the matter?”
“Oh, nothing.” Coran sniffs, indeed wiping away a nostalgic tear. “Just thinking. The Paladins of new, just like the Paladins of old!”
Allura sniffs too, more of a huff as she folds her arms. “Oh, Coran. My father never had slumber parties in the lounge.”
“Ah, the innocence of youth,” Coran says, fondly, and puts his arm around Allura’s shoulders as they head off down the hall.

2022 Fanworks in Review
In 2022, I published:
1. With Surprising Quickness (Bush/Hornblower, Hornblower TV, 3.7K, pwp) Two impoverished lieutenants share a berth.
2. A Peaceful and Beautiful Spot (Ewen & Francis, The Flight of the Heron, 1.4K, gen) Ewen brings Francis, Lord Aveling, to visit Keith's grave.
3. Heron Feathers (various pairings, The Flight of the Heron, ficlet collection)
4. [vid] Some Things are Meant to Be (Keith/Ewen, The Flight of the Heron 1968, major character death) Take my hand / Take my whole life too
5. Hornblower's Lost Honour (Bush/Hornblower, Hornblower novels, 107K) #no one leaves this island until I see some kissing
6. Seaweed and Apple Blossoms (Laurent/Aymar/Avoye, The Wounded Name, 4.3K) Four missing scenes in which the subtext is made text.
~
Total number of completed works: Four stories (one with a prologue), one ficlet collection, and one vid.
Total word count: 117K, which is roughly twice my usual annual published word count. A lot of that is a result of Hornblower's Lost Honour having been written over the course of three years, thus pulling a significant chunk of previous years' unpublished words into this year's published wordcount. (But even if I didn't write all those words this year, I sure did edit them all! Getting that sucker published was a significant chunk of work.)
Fandoms created for: Hornblower, The Flight of the Heron, The Wounded Name.
Looking back, did you create more than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? All of the above. My dad's death back in January knocked me out of my usual run of spring exchanges, and for a long while there I was writing nothing more than alibi sentences. Consequently, in terms of total works, this seems like a very short list for the year, even given the behemoth of Lost Honour. Flipside, my big goal was to publish Lost Honour during 2022, and I successfully pulled that off, even bringing me to a record high wordcount, which I was very much not expecting given the way the year started.
What’s your own favorite creation of the year? Maybe "A Peaceful and Beautiful Spot" -- I like the energy and some of the prose is very well. I'm not claiming it's my best work of the year -- it was written in a day and shows a consequent lack of polish -- but my feelings about it are uncomplicated, and it has a pleasing accomplishment-to-effort ratio.
Did you take any creative risks this year? I typed this sentence --
His passion could no longer be restrained; it must find expression, or he must die.
-- and had a moment of extreme self-consciousness about what I had just written. I ultimately decided not only to leave it in, but to let it guide the tone of the piece. Happily, several commenters said they liked the OTT emotionalism of that story, so I'm gonna say it worked out.
Do you have any goals for the new year? To finish Langstroth on Bees, my ACD Holmes retirement longfic that I started in 2014, and which currently sits at 70K. Also, very tentatively: now that I'm doing a Holmes canon re-read with Letters from Watson, I've picked up "Sixty for Sixty" again: a collection of sixty-word ficlets for the sixty canon stories, which I first started during my last readthrough of Holmes canon as a part of sherlock60 on LJ. I'm not gonna commit to doing ficlets for all the stories (that way lies madness!), but it'd be cool to knock out another chunk of them. Beyond that, just the usual: to keep making things for as long as I'm getting pleasure from making them.
Most popular creation of the year? "With Surprising Quickness". Yes, it's probably one of my stronger PWPs, but more significantly, 1) I wrote it at the beginning of the year, giving it more time to accumulate kudos, and 2) I wrote it for a large exchange, bringing it before more eyes. It might also help that it's in the TV tag and not the novels tag; I sometimes get the impression there are more readers in the TV tag.
Creation of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: No. Within this question lies madness.
Most fun thing to make: The vid. It came together very quickly, and making it was hella iddy and immersive, in that way that vidding often is.
Most unintentionally telling thing: Hornblower's Lost Honour. I came out in the early 90s into a society more comprehensively and reflexively homophobic than the one I live in today, and Lost Honour draws on those experiences. Most especially how society's hatred gets deep down inside your head and you can unpack it and unpack it and fucking unpack it and then you turn around and discover that no, society has still got you unwittingly doing their dirty work for them, punishing yourself on their behalf. Like a rat proactively giving yourself electroshocks because you can't imagine any other way to live, ugh. That experience (plus how it shapes and stunts you and damages your relationships) is threaded all through that story.
Biggest disappointment: Again, madness.
Biggest surprise: FANART. Three people made fanart for Lost Honour! Plus another art for one of my Heron Feathers ficlets! Behold:
@chiropteracupola for HLH chapter 1
@cedarboots for HLH chapter 7
ljm for the AU where Horatio bakes Bush and Brown an apology cake
@chiropteracupola Heron OT3
I am flat aback with astonishment and pleasure.

six sentence sunday! i’ve posted like, three fuckin things this week, so ill just do six facts about the whole au
1. the funniest fun fact about lamplight is i started writing the little ficlet so that id have six sentences to post today so as not to spoil anything from missing or obstructed. it was literally meant to be a red herring. i have Not worked on missing or obstructed this week,
2. when i was in high school i used to A) record fire in slow motion w some minor regularity and B) volunteer at the local firehouse at least like once a week to help out around the station. never went on any scenes but i did tag along some controlled burns of fake training buildings and have some turnout gear assigned to me. so it makes me laugh a bit that ive got a whole au now surrounding lovely describing fire in great expressive detail
related, i did dig up and rewatch one of those slow mo fire vids. i should make more of those i think they really are gorgeous
3. i usually never write anything out of chronological order, so lamplight’s been a lot of fun! very freeing to just jump around randomly. that said, my favorite scene ive come up with is the would be Literal First Scene of the fic and i ???? somehow haven't fucking written it yet.
4. i really love writing nonverbal characters and i literally never have an excuse so writing ren has been so much fun. i love getting to write the way he emotes and expresses himself. esp considering i tend to be someone who really loves to lean rlly heavily into specific word choice in dialogue and focusing on body language in my writing, its very neat to just... not have any of that.
5. halfway thru writing the tavern one i realized i the official martyn design didnt have armor. which is hysterical. its like how everyone wears armor in game and theyre never drawn with it. its fine. we’ll pretend hes got bracers under those baggy sleeves of his or smth. its Fine,
6. the hardest parts of lamplight are A) coming up with new words for fire sounds that i haven't already used (and keeping emotional expression consistent without using the same thing over and over) and B) the fucking silly food prayers that martyn made up. literally that line stumped me more than anything else. i am never rhyming anything again

↳ ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIP, SLICE OF LIFE ↲
You’re not surprised, honestly.
Your fiancé was good at many things in his life; being a lawyer, being handsome, being smart, and yet, he was a horrible painter.
You’d left him in charge of it due to your trust in him, but when you rejoined, the view you were met with was astounding. Plastic coverings on the floors and painter’s tape decorated the room like minor accessories, but compared to the sight before you, you wonder why you even noticed anything else at all.
Yellow has a million meanings.
“You could at least keep yourself clean,” You tease, peeking into the room. Your eyes meet messy yellow streaks on white walls, and you shift to watch curiously as Sero stretched, dropping his brush into one of the empty buckets before beginning to turn to you, “You paint like a child, honey,”
Specifically, in a few, it goes by the names of warmth, optimism, and courage.
“Why you-” Sero’s head snaps in your direction, by then leading you to remember that his hands — nor the rest of him — are not free of paint despite being free of the brush, and when in a fruitless attempt to scramble away amidst your laughter, you are left in a heap of limbs with the man you love; breathless, energized, and delighted all at once.
But for you, only one matters most.
It takes a minute for you two to playfully wrestle, and when you’re down, you’re both sprawled out across the coverings as far as you can reach.
And if you had to say it true to your heart...
You’re on to his left as you swipe the yellow paint off your cheeks, and then you pause, the realization dawning on you like a ton of bricks.
The laugh that leaves you is quiet, like a secret to be told only to the loveliest, and when you glance at him you know you hear your smile and heart bind to an agreement, the murmurings of I’ve loved you since we were children and I love you even now creating a history upon these bedroom walls.
“What is it? What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.” You look at him quickly, your lips pulling into the biggest grin you can muster, “I just realized something important...”
“And what’s that?”
“You’ve painted me yellow, my love.”
It’d be that, well, he’s always been the one to paint you happy.

How many works do you have on AO3? 11
What's your total AO3 word count? 40168
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? AO3 counts spin-offs of the same series as fandoms, so for them it’s 5, but it’s actually 3: Saint Seiya, Pride and Prejudice, and The Old Guard
Are there any new fandoms you want to write for? I’m kind of a ‘one hyperfixation at a time’ kind of person, and even then not every fandom I get into actually pokes the Writing Brain, so I think I’ll stick to TOG for now
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? ok, let’s go:
Celebrated for Their Frankness (Pride and Prejudice)
Kissing a Stranger (Pride and Prejudice)
Galeotto Fu’l Cane (Pride and Prejudice)
hand in hand, we stumble and we fall (then we stand, once and for all) (The Old Guard)
c’est lui pour moi, moi pour lui (dans la vie) (The Old Guard)
Which of your fics do you want more attention for? To be honest, I never expect my fics to get attention. While I do crave validation, I don’t think so well of myself as to demand it. Also [man tapping temple meme] “You can’t get your expectations busted if you never had them to begin with”. The Saint Seiya fics could probably use some love, but I also haven’t been active in that fandom for three years now, so I have no idea what’s happening over there anymore.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Yes, I do! It feels like a point of politeness, I think. If someone took the time to let me know they’ve liked a story, saying thank you seems like the right thing to do. If the comment is longer and delving into the details, then I’m even happier and more likely to gush back - for every sentence I write there’s a three-paragraph essay of reasonings behind just begging to be expounded on <3
What sorts of things do you normally write? Fluff. Almost exclusively. Sometimes it’s sad fluff (new word for hurt/comfort, look at that), but basically I give my characters what I crave, which is - things going smooth and easy, a hug and love. Occasionally a pet. When they said that fanfiction is for wish fulfillment I took that literally.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? I... don’t really write angst in general, let alone angst to stay. The only sad ending is in chapter 11 of A World of Prompts, which is a collection of ficlets I wrote from Tumblr ask prompts about Saint Seiya. That one is angsty.
What's a fic that pushed you out of your comfort zone? Um. Well. Rain and First Kisses was the first mlm ship fic I ever wrote. And it’s just. Boys kissing (well, men considering the characters’ ages, but you get the gist). Does that count?
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you've written? I can barely keep my lore straight on one fictional world at a time, crossovers are a bit too much - I’m also not a great reader of the crossover genre in general.
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I would be honoured if someone ever asked.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, never.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? There’s only one fic that is listed as incomplete on my AO3, and I’m simply not writing anything for that fandom anymore, so it’ll stay like that forever. If we’re talking about my documents folders... anything that I haven’t touched in more than a year can be considered dead. Which is. A good three-quarters of my production.
What are you currently working on? I haven’t exactly worked on it very recently, but I’m Committed on returning to it very soon, is a development of this post about the Guard dreaming of each new one since they’re born, focusing on Nile. It’s going to be a beast of a thing because I’ve already written 12k words and I’ve just crossed the threshold of her father dying.
What are your writing strengths? I have absolutely no idea I never half-ass on the worldbuilding, so if I’m writing an AU there’s a good chance I’ve thought about every single aspect of it for months beforehand. Same with research for canon fic, I don’t think I ever spared anyone a history lesson or two in my end notes. I’ve also been told that my writing is very evocative, which is never a bad thing imo. Despite English being my second language, I seem to be getting by well enough with it.
What are your writing weaknesses? My writing process is ‘either this fic will spring out of my head fully-fledged like Athena from Zeus or no fic will be written at all’, which is why the completed projects:dead ideas ratio is. Abysmally skewed towards the latter. I have to force myself to write short sentences because I have a tendency to ramble and circle around a point without actually saying anything. In consequence of all this, I am simply incapable of writing chaptered fics. I need validation before they’re complete, but if I publish a WIP it will never be ended.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? Most recent? The first? Winx Club. No you can’t read them. Most recent, The Old Guard.
What's your favorite fic you've written? I don’t think I really have a favourite, but I will admit to having a soft spot for A Marriage of True Minds, because it’s the Peak of self-indulgence and I cried so much writing certain parts of it
What fic are you most proud of? I honestly don’t know how to answer this one. I suppose it would be a tie between my three TOG fics, mostly because I’m actually emotionally attached to them in ways I’m not with the others.
