Anyways enough about me, I’m not gonna lie that I really like Luffy’s Gear 5th form like it’s absolutely terrifying but in a good way. I’ve actually been laughing occasionally about the idea of Gear 5 activating when Luffy was about to be eaten by the Sea King as a kid as I think that’s a bit funny like suddenly Gear 5 child!

Terrifying to imagine but also kinda funny if you think about the chaos that would ensure

So honestly with your request, let’s pretend that Luffy is always in Gear 5 mode as that will make this easier for me to write like there’s no such thing as turning it off now that he’s activated it

I feel like catching the attention of Monkey D. Luffy in the sense of him being a Yandere is already bad enough but what makes it worse is the idea that he can’t turn it off anymore and I feel like when it comes to this form, his emotions are amplified

The best example that I can give for what I mean is like if Luffy was already a Yandere then these tendencies have been amplified big time like if he’s willing to pick a fight with the World Government over Robin right now then now he’s willing to completely demolish anything that even vaguely threatens his crew now

Doesn’t even matter if it’s like he doesn’t actually know if said person wants to hurt his crew like let’s say that someone like knocks over Chopper while they’re running causing him to get hurt just a little bit. Unless the crew can convince him not to or manage to distract him then that person is done for

Also you’d think that dealing with Luffy raiding the fridge would be a pain in the ass now, yeah? It still is but if Luffy has any feelings buried deep down for some of his crewmates then Gear 5 has brought it up to the surface

So Luffy might be able to be distracted from raiding the fridge through a little something from Sanji like a kiss or something but that might result in Sanji having a hard time walking without a small limp for a good while afterwards but whatever keeps them from starving at sea

Chopper definitely gets Platonic Yandere’d to hell and back like he’s basically kind of acting like a dad, I’d say that you should probably check Luffy’s temperature as he’s actually being a semi responsible parent like telling him to eat healthy and not really allowing him to go off anywhere alone

As for if he had an S/O in this form like if you were dating Luffy before he awakened Gear 5? I’d recommend just honestly getting ready to never be out of his sight like you’re gonna get up to head to another room and he’s already getting up to follow you

He’ll be following you just about anywhere that he can and if I’m right then he’s much bigger in that form too, yeah? So let’s say that he can change his size and when he’s all big then chances are that if he doesn’t like what things look like then he’ll just pick you up and stuff you in his pocket for a while

What better way to keep you safe than to keep you right with him after all? Although even as much as you tell him that a battle with another pirate crew is not enough of a reason to shove you in his pocket, it’s not like he’s gonna listen

Much like with any Yandere too, don’t even think of attempting to escape as not only is he impossible to escape even without Gear 5 but now he can literally just lift the roof of any building that you’re hiding in and grab you like he’s playing with a dollhouse

I wouldn’t recommend at all turning yourself into the Marines to escape him either as that just sparks one hell of a frenzy, you thought that doing this sort of thing before Gear 5 was bad? You ain’t seen nothing yet…

If it wasn’t for the others then he would probably unintentionally destroy the whole damn island alongside the Marine base just to get you back especially if the Marines have roughed you up

You cant fight him either, that goes without saying so it’s really better to just do as the rest of the crew has and accept that this is your new life being watched over by an extremely possessive sun god who refuses to let anything happen to any of you…

I’d also recommend getting used to being in Luffy’s bed… Lord knows that when that man fucks you now, it’s gonna be a marathon that leaves you unable to think straight with legs so numb that you’re certain you’ll never regain feeling in them…

Honestly though imagine him being absolutely gigantic and playing with your body like you’re some kind of doll, imagine like laying in one of his hands while a single fingertip of his rubs at the area between your legs or he tries to give you oral but just winds up licking your whole body

It probably isn’t the worst thing but it’s not pleasant although let’s hope that he never wants to stick his dick in you while he’s big like this as you’ll be stretched to absolute hell and back… Like I legitimately think that you’d need either a wheelchair afterwards or a mobility aid for the rest of your life…

The Bird of Paradise (comic, 47 chapters) by lady_libertine

This was required reading for a different fic. It’s about Jon meeting Odin, Dionysus, and Lucifer during the Unknowing, and getting slightly magical therapy that helps him fix his problems. It’s actually pretty good. Very long, though. And not described (unless it is through alt text).

Okay, so this series is like, so sad. It’s so bloody sad. It starts between s3 and s4 (getting off to a Sad Start), continues through s4 and s5, ends in like, the worst way (for the characters). It’s so bloody good, and the Upton House portion is like… top 2 Upton House fics.

The first fic is set in season 4, but canon diverges, and both Martin and Jon fall fully to their patrons (i.e. Jon becomes a lot more evil and inhuman, Martin fulfils more of the diagnostic criteria for major depressive disorder).

The second fic is set after the first fic, with Martin (less lonely) trying to see if there’s any Jon left in the Archivist. First fic focuses pretty equally on Jon and Martin, but in separate storylines, second fic is from the Archivist’s POV, but focuses on Jmart.

It’s about humanity and monsterhood and “is it right to die bc living will hurt people” and change, and I love it. It’s so good. And Jon’s narration is wonderful, and the climax is just, it’s amazing to read, it plays out in my head all the time. Set in season 4, post-MAG 146.

I’m pretty sure this is one of those fandom classics. Based on the amount of comments, it’s pretty well known, but I enjoyed it, so… it’s about Hope as an entity. It’s in the format of Daisy telling Jon a story while the latter is staying at the Scottish Safehouse. The story is from season 1 onward but the framing device is post-MAG 159 pre-MAG 160. It’s got great moments that live in my mind rent free.

To be completely honest, I don’t really like time travel fix it fics, but this one is an exception. s5!Jon basically replaces season 4 Jon, and still has issues, and they focus on multiple characters, and there’s so much getting angry at Jonah Magnus — if I’m being honest, sometimes I just read this fic and go through the content warnings to see which chapters probably mention Jonah Magnus and read those, because the handling of Jonah Magnus is like, thank you. I love it.

Focuses on multiple characters, but Jon’s the main character. Also, diverges before MAG 187, and it was being written pre-finale. It’s still ongoing.

Jon’s stuck in a timeloop of MAG 39, and it’s heartbreaking to see him every time try to fix things, try to save Sasha and Martin and Tim, and there are Lines. There are Lines. It’s another exception to the time travel fix-it rule, but only because it’s got... a different plot. And it’s just that good.

Chayanne wants to be like his brother Techno so he dies his hair pink and often tries to talk to the other kind about anarchy before quickly getting stopped by the adults. He is very attached to all the eggs and sees them as his siblings and would do anything to protect them

Richarlyson and Bobby often get into fights before Chayanne has to break them up. After the initial rocky start to their friendship, they became good friend but still keep up a fake rivalry, but the truth is that they deeply care and admire each other. When they fight, the other eggs bet on who would be the winner with Ramon and Leo being the ones that bets the most Richarlyson is the "baby" of the group and he likes that Bobby doesn't treat him like a little kid

Tallulah, just like Chayanne, cares deeply about family. She tries to find out more about Willburs history, but is met with vague answers  that don't satisfy her. She tries to learn as much about the other eggs as possible, even the ones that aren't here anymore and tries to honor them as much as she can. The reason Tallulah beanie red is because she learn that Tilins ribbon was red and wanted to make Quackity a little happier Her taste buds are fucked up because she ate dirt for so long so now she can't taste things She also writes songs about the other eggs

Tilins always wears her ribbon, resulting in it getting very dirty very fast but she still refused to take it down. Quackity has to steal it while she sleeps in order to wash it. But he also has a drawer full of identical red ribbons in case the one that she is currently wearing gets desrtoyed

Flippa is the most extroverted out of the eggs and is always daring the egg to to dangerous things. When Quackity would leave Tilin alone, Flippa would be there to comfort her because she understood what it felt like to not have your parents pay attention to you Slime and Mariana would often fight and would leave the house to cool down, leaving Flippa alone She was the elder queer of the eggs and would help them navigate there gender identity and helping them to come out

Tell me your hp hot takes I desperately need to know (and i am not a marauders stan so I won't care if you're negative)

i have a lot of takes so i’ll keep it to my top 10!

1) I cannot STAND regulus black. he’s barely an idea of a guy, his fanbase is a timothee chalamet circle jerk coated w the same milquetoast white sad boy w a heart of gold character they give to every run of the mill YA-male protagonist. y’all just want a pretty boy and i would respect it if y’all didn’t act like he was the messiah of the era, he fucked up his ONE moment of redemption and didn’t even do it right infact it just made Harry’s time trying to save the world harder than it had to be

2) majority of fans of the marauders just like them bc they’re aesthetics of vaguely gay best friends in a partially idealized 80s where they do not do anything but chain smoke, have relationship problems, and die. they are frat boys, they’re doing a lot of dumb shit constantly and very minor are their problems dating related

3) i don’t like the idea Sirius and Regulus were physically abused by their parents. i actually think until Sirius was placed in gryffindor he was the family golden child and relentlessly spoiled, in the same way dudley was but with his bitchy mom who was not loving but more.. like instigatey and let him get away w stuff? i do think Walburga was emotionally abusive and clearly unstable, but i cannot see her laying a hand on her precious heir to the family name, esp since we Know the black family held that in Very high regard. Sirius was different fundamentally from his family but not to the point Walburga was Beating it out of him, he was given just enough room to push until he actively chose to run away at 16

4) Pandora Lovegood Was A Ravenclaw. Only Ravenclaw Parents like That have a kid like Luna. Xenophilius also was a Malfoy, he was like Sirius and fundamentally different but only Kicked Out when he Chose to marry into the Lovegood family, taking her name. he and lucius LOOK like brothers like cmon

5) Moody is a hufflepuff that is just important to me, also i don’t think he’s that old tbh war just does that to you, but again that’s more for personal reasons

6) Peter loved his friends more than anything and never once WANTED to hurt them. him ratting out the potters was more him ratting out Harry and hoping that Voldemort would Only kill Harry, leaving Lily and James bc he couldn’t imagine a life without them, but they could Have another child (bit fucked up but he was also looking for the easy way out)

7) I think Narcissa and Sirius were the closest cousins besides Sirius and Andromeda. Narcissa was the clear favorite of her family branch and so was Sirius, they’re also the closest two in age, i think they’d get along well at least before hogwarts

8) The Black Family are BROKE as fuck! I’ve told you abt this but for the sake of the post: Grimmauld Place is Ratty and Dirty and Ugly in the middle of muggle row houses! Why would the MAIN family branch of the black family live there if they had a choice? they have no money (at least substantially) and they’re just kinda lying about it and hoping for the best, slowly becoming like the Gaunts

9) I don’t ship wolfstar bc i think Sirius is noncommittal and Remus is too depressed to do this shit rn but during hogwarts all the marauders did kiss a lil bit but in a bro way (also most marauders fans think sirius is bi and remus is gay, i see it the other way around, that’s just me tho. i feel like a lot of wolfstar fans shoehorn them into outdated mildly homophobic character types (the slutty bi, the inexperienced gay, etc)

10) James Potter is Indian and this isn’t so much a hot take as it is a fact bc Harry is brown in most fanon bc he kinda accidentally was written as brown-coded but not a lot of marauders fans seem to equate that with James. However i do think Harry is mixed in the way that he’s half indian, quarter east-asian, quarter white. (Lily is wasian and she and petunia are half sisters. you can guess what ethnicity Petunia is)

bonus: i cannot see Andrew Garfield as Remus in any context i think y’all are insane for that cus it looks nothing like him, just use his actual actor’s younger photos/movie clips??

Wednesday

Here are some thoughts on Wednesday.

Though I should say first that I remember watching some family Addams show, but I vaguely recall it, like I don’t really know which one it was. It was in Spanish too, so I didn’t really know her name was Wednesday till I’m not sure when.

Ok, here it all goes. Spoilers follow:

Episode 1

Jenna Ortega has been a fave since You (plus the whole rollercoaster video with Jen Garner). Then come the credits and there were Catherine, Christina and Gwendolyn. I love these women, I’m in for a treat.

I literally thought the opening was a dream sequence. Not the whole thing, just the piranhas part. But it wasn’t. Cool, cool, cool, cool. Also, Wed said the school was underfunded and then they had that HUGE indoor pool... I was really confused at that.

I don’t remember Wednesday having any powers, so I’m guessing that’s new. Or maybe I really don’t remember anything at all.

I loved that Christina’s such a ray of sunshine here, and that she got Wed’s plant right.

I think one of the ~boys is the homicidal monster, I’m pretty sure I read something about it in passing here, but I don’t recall which one of them it is, I’m thinking it’s probably the sheriff’s son, since it’d be the most extra. So that’s kinda spoiled for me, which is a bummer.

I loved the callbacks to the family’s time in the school, and I’m also pretty sure Gomez isn’t a murderer, so that’s something for Wed to figure out.

I loved seeing her smile at the end, so cute!

Episode 2

I was wondering what Weems’s thing was. I’m guessing, since she can shapeshift, that she might be responsible for the accusations against Gomez. I wonder why she’s hiding what happened to Rowan, what’s her connection to the monster/murders. Or is it just to keep the school safe?

I kinda like that Christina is a normie. She said the conservatory is always open... I’m sure that’ll come into play.

So Xavier’s powers are to turn drawn things into alive things? 

I love that Enid and Wed won against Bianca. Definitely got Wed into the school spirit.

I also wonder about what happened to the sheriff’s wife.

I love that Poe’s an alumni and that the double snap opens the secret passage door.

I’ve realized that I’m pretty sure Christina played Wednesday in some Addams movie, but I never watched that.

Episode 3

Gotta love it when colonizers burn.

So much going on! I can’t believe Ajax is dead! I’m guessing that’s what he is, yes? I didn’t get what his power or outcast-quality was till that moment.

Marilyn’s got secrets, I like it! 

Weems obviously hates Morticia, that much was obvious in the first episode. I wonder what her deal with the mayor is.

I love that Wed got herself a little brother at school. I don’t get how Eugene’s retainers could still be useful after Wed opened the door with them.

Love the visions into the past. That had to be where the answers were, so I’m excited to see more.

Xavier’s dad’s like Morticia and Wed... interesting. Those marks at the end...

At least the sheriff’s got proof that there’s a monster roaming around.

Tyler looked rather conflicted... so sussss.

Episode 4

A school dance, yay! Wed and Enid looked so pretty.

And also, apparently, Ajax is alive and didn’t turn into stone, he just froze for a little bit... I’m glad about that. Specially cause Enid deserved a good smooch.

BUT EUGENE!!!!!! I can’t believe he still went alone, so stupid!!!!

Xavier’s breaking my heart, IDEK. And Bianca too.

So Tyler went to a ~rehab camp, or whatever it was he called it, after he was the biggest asshole to Xavier, and I’m guessing that’s why he has to attend therapy sessions or is it his mom stuff?

Weems was in love with Gomez, maybe I was right and she accused him of killing a normie way back cause he turned her down for Morticia?

Episode 5

Finally a bit of answers! Gomez truly never looked like he had murder in him, and the twist wasn’t particularly twisty at that point, but I’m glad it was dealt with.

Eugene!!! I’m sure he’ll get better cause he has to, it’s law! The moment between his mothers and Wed got me emotional.

I knew the coroner was gonna die cause that mention of retirement plans had only one way to go. I wonder who did it, why now. I’m thinking its’ something to do with Gates’s sister, that whole recap of the family’s tragic story read like Henry’s in Stranger Things to me.

Feeling even worse about Bianca’s situation after meeting her mother. I hope she won’t have to use her powers to scam people.

Enid took a stance, yay for her!

I wonder when we’ll meet Xavier’s dad, since we have to at some point.

I’m glad Wed figured out that it was Weems pretending to be Rowan. And she said it was for the school, so maybe that’s all there is to it.

The Addams eating potpourri was hilarious, as was the fishing technique.

Episode 6

The actor who plays Lucas radiates charm, it’s insane. 

So Wed turned 16... how old is Tyler supposed to be? I was thinking about this when she met him while he was at work, but to find out she’s only 15 then seems to make it even worse. I’m guessing him and his friends might be going to a normal school in Jericho but it still doesn’t look good to me.

Thornhill was being suspicious... She showed up right after the Mayor was hit. Is she somehow related to the Gates? I don’t know, her whole being a normie thing, maybe it wasn’t true. She also gives Wed a Frankenstein copy, and then we see all the body parts... Sounds like whoever’s behind the murders wants to build their own version of it.

I’m so sad for Enid, she really does try so very much to be Wed’s friend.

Oh, look, Tyler was never around while the monster showed up... sussss.

Wed channeling Encanto with the whole prophecy that might look to be something but it’s actually the opposite. It’s honestly what first came to mind when she first saw the drawing but now she basically spelled it out in those terms so it was funny to me.

Episode 7

Okay, so even before she was killed, I figured therapist was innocent and Thornhill’s actually Laurel and her normie act was just that, an act.

The traumatic event that brought out the Hyde in Tyler was probably his mom’s death, however it happened... or maybe he killed her?

And I thought it was interesting that Fester mentioned that Hydes are artistic or something like that, when we saw Tyler doing the whole birthday message on the coffee.

I’m so glad Thing’s okay and Enid’s back!

It’s hilarious that Fester’s the black sheep in the opposite way those usually work... tho he did rob a bank and a vehicle.

Episode 8

Okay, so it all developed pretty much as I thought it would. I was so glad Enid wolfed out, old Crackstone was defeated... but the best part was the hug for sure! Wed and Enid are friends who hug, lovely!

I’m sad for Weems but it also made sense seeing as it’s Gwen playing her.

I’m happy that Xavier and Wed said goodbye on friendly terms, tho it’s funny that she got a stalker as soon as she joined the 21st century.

Yay for Eugene recovering and using his power as well as for Bianca helping out!

I wonder if we’ll see more of Laurel. I’m guessing that depends on Christina but I’m sure we’ll see more of Tyler... I honestly never trusted his face, but I kinda wish I hadn’t been spoiled. I read something in passing like “x turned out to be y”. It didn’t register much then, but I put the pieces together once I started watching the episodes. Would I have picked up on all the hints the way I did or been totally clueless without it? We’ll never know, which I hate (spoilers are seriously the worst thing ever), so now I gotta read opinions and watch reactions to experience it through unspoiled eyes.

All in all

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was funny, it had mystery, it had lovely people and relationships and it entertained me fully.

It had high school drama mixed in with Harry Potter style crimes and competitions, with a bit of Veronica Mars (sans technology) teenage investigation and supernatural stuff of all kinds.

I can see why it’s a hit and I’m glad I finally caught up to it. I just hope TPTB know what they’re doing and have a great season 2 in store.

Piranesi: 4/5

I believe that this book is best read without knowning anything about it all, though I think you'd still get a kick out of it if you have some information. That being said, I've been exceedingly vague about my critique as to make sure no one gets their experience spoiled. I'm still having to talk about the antagonist's characteristics, though nothing that would ruin the mystery. Just a heads-up if you want to be completely, a thousand percent in the dark. Though I do recommend that, if you're not queer, you look up some of the critiques queer people have made of this story after you've read it, so you can take a look at what we thought was a little bit harmful.

Alright so, first of all: I think this book affected in me in a special way because of My Situation. I'm mentally ill and, recently, have been having a bit of memory problems. I've resorted to journal-writing, and extensive numbering of them to keep stuff straight, and that's very precious to me. If you've read the book any, you know that the main character, Piranesi, also does the same thing, for (kinda) a different reason. Second: I've gotten The COVID and am locked in my room for the forseable future. So yeah, a house full of hallways that never end, out of which one cannot escape, and considers the entire world? Yeah. Relatable. To be honest, I've never really gotten the "I relate to this character" train until right now, when I finished this book, sat down, and thought to myself: this fucking man is me. All he's missing is being gay. And to be clear: there's something very, very queer about the experience of being trapped in a maze of infinite hallways. An article I read about this even argued, successfully I think, that the imagery of a labyrinth is intrinsically queer. The feeling of being trapped, alone, of fighting for movement and safety and of never really having a way out, is something very queer. In Piranesi, its homonymous main character is stuck in an endless house full of hallways and various statues. Their beauty calms him, and he feels profoundly at peace in this maze. At home. The statues seem to pass him messages as he inteprets them: a statue of a Gorilla stands for strength, and to be near it is to be strong, for instance. This being said, it's hard for me (and, if the internet is any indication, for a lot of queer people, too) not to see Piranesi as queer. If not for all of these reasons, then just because he likes to braid seashells into his hair (and then has to take them out because the noise might be distracting, if that isn't one queer metaphor, I don't know what is). This being said, there's no indication on the text of Piranesi's sexuality. It's not even dubious, because there isn't any of that kind of talk in the book... When it comes to Piranesi, at least. With its villan, Clarke does not shy away from talking sexuality. It's mentioned more than a dozen times! And look, I don't subscribe to the school of thought where, just because a villan is of a certain group, the whole group is interpreted as being vilified. However, there are Certain Circunstances where you're like: C'mon. Are you dead serious? Is the Hayes Code back in effect? The villan of this book is a creepy, weird, manipulative and mystical professor who exploits his students' brains and want to learn. His sexuality plays into this significantly. How do we know he's  manipulative? He had his female student drive him to pick up "young men". How is he gross or weird? He kidnapped a young man, implied to be a prostitute, for his own nefarious reasons. Several people, people legitimized  by the book, refer to him as being "sexually deviant", of having weird "sexual tastes" and that that interferred in his malicious activity. His transgressiveness in academia and in the law is compared to his transgressiveness in sexuality, so we know that they are linked: "He crossed so many boundaries. He wrote about magic and pretended it was science [...] He was a gay man when it was still illegal [...] He kidnapped a man" (from Part 5: Valentine Ketterly, page 260 of my Kindle edition) When he speaks and refers to the men around him, he's disgusting. Talks to them in a predatory manner, objectifying them: "that dishy Italian", "you were quite a dish", etc. This is a stereotype and a trope that has plagued gay people, especially queer men, for ages. They've always been represented in media exactly like this: as sleezy, predatory people who will destroy the youth. And, clearly, it's not something that has gone away. Sometimes, we play into stereotypes accidentally. Sometimes, we write a good book and oopsie-doo, our queer representation isn't quite that good. That's alright. But the fact that this is the only queer representation in the entire book further damages the situation. That the opportunity to make a character so queercoded like Piranesi gay was bypassed serves to prove that there wasn't an effort to represent queer people well. And it makes me doubt the good intent that I'm assuming was there from the author. If there aren't any other gay characters except for an offensive excuse for an antagonist, is it really progressive at all? Was the queer representation or the lack thereof really in good faith? I don't know and I don't think I care too much. I like the whole "death of the author" school of thought a lot. As a person whose favorite book is no other that "The Great Gatsby" I think I do a damn good job saying "shut up" to the author and making every character in my vincinity queer as all hell. And I can't help myself from enjoying this read. Like I said, Piranesi, both character and book, speak to me on another level of relatability. And the writing is good! The plot is clever! The character of Piranesi is simply too sweet, and his life in that giant house pulls at your heartstrings and reminds you of the human urge to take care of one another. Do I think this is out of this world, in the sense that this plot has never been done before? No, of course not! Stories about isolation and what it does to people are as old as time, and good as hell, also. But there is a shy originality about Piranesi's wholesomeness. His love for where he lives and for everything around him. And it makes this a compelling and very beautiful read. I wouldn't ever discourage anyone from reading this. The other way around! I'd encourage it, it's a good book! But I'd encourage a critical reading. I'd encourage researching this stereotype and recognizing it on the page. And I'd encourage that you point at Piranesi and call him gay. Just for fun, y'know.

5 works i’m most proud of from 2022

under the sun: yes, i know she’s not finished yet. i debated including her because of it, but i’m genuinely proud of what i’ve written for UtS so far!! hopefully i’ll finish the fic next year, thank you all for bearing with me as i finished off school since that too precedence over most things (+ sometimes i just need a break from longer projects like UtS), i’m hoping to have wonwoo’s part out soon! but i think there’s a lot in this fic that i’m definitely in love with, primarily the world building. i feel most in my element when i work on UtS and the vaguely supernatural background it has, all wrapped up with a sweeter romance in most cases. without spoiling anything, i’m genuinely excited to eventually get to cheol’s part. whether the series ends with his part or continues on to a different title for the alternate ending, i feel like cheol’s part functions as something encompassing a lot of what this series means.

lonely hearts club: ah, lhc. my beloved. i genuinely have such a soft spot for wonwoo, and this is actually a series written in full! its been a while since i’ve done one of those lmao. i think my writing has come a way since i wrote lhc, and i think if i were to rewrite it, there’s things i’d add in--but she has a special place in my heart nonetheless. writing wonwoo as someone who is soft and loving is genuinely just something i enjoy because i feel like i rarely see it sometimes. he’s just a big ole softie who’s quiet and i love it about him.

sweet night: another unfinished one, i know, but... i think there’s parts of sweet night that i genuinely enjoy writing a lot. i think it’s pretty telling how every fic i’ve listed so far is pretty damn plot heavy (because genuinely that is what i love writing!!) and this one is no different. plus, i think this one has a special place for me because it’s technically a collaborative piece with several anons from a mutual’s blog (if you see this, hi sol! hi anons! thank you again for giving me permission to write this fic!) and i think collaborative works are fun. but there’s also some heavier emotions that i do like addressing. 

a mermaid’s kiss: a short one! but i do love her. idk i just love vague mermaid lore and joshua was a rly good fit for this au.

enouement / singing in the rain: ok so im linking both of these here bc SitR is a retelling of enouement as a skz fic. idk why i was abt to say both of these flopped when they did decent. i guess i just don’t hear much feedback on either of them? they both have a special place in my heart. enouement was the first long fic i posted and one i was excited to write, while the other was just one that i have some lines in that i really like.

the rest of under the sun + [potentially] shadow: ok im cheating here but genuinely i’m excited to eventually finish UtS and hopefully still have the juice to write what i’ve been titling shadow! it’s the alt ending, name currently pending.  just assume any series i haven’t finished, i’m hoping to finish next year.

i can’t run away: a vernon fic that feels kinda venty. it’s angst with no happy ending. title also might change a little, but i do like keeping it as it is now.

[WORKING TITLE ALERT] 88/134: a bang chan fic! its another chubby!fem!reader long fic because i can’t be stopped. might change the title later, but it was a reference to apparently how long it takes people to fall in love (men 88 days, women 134 according to a study i have linked on the google doc)

honestly? just motivating myself to write in general. sometimes i hit dry spells, sure, but i’ve been getting better about forcing myself to sit down and write most days.

idk i just feel like i’ve found my style a bit more. focusing on emotions within a plot just fits into what i enjoy writing the most.

properly planning things (most of the time) and sticking to writing out those plans. trust me when i say i never used to plan things out.

ughh i think i usually end up having multiple lines that i like in fics so i’ll just pick one at random:

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?

Honestly, hurting my favorite characters is something I struggle with a lot. It’s always been very difficult for me to purposefully make them suffer. Something that’s always easy for me is fluff, and maybe smut.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

My current WIP is a Wild West AU. I’ve always wanted to try one, so I’m pretty excited to be working on this. In this AU there isn’t an Avatar anymore, so the world had to learn how to keep balance without one. Kuruk was the last Avatar, and he died while in the Avatar State. Thus ending the Avatar cycle. For the most part the world takes care of itself fine, but there are still some places that a little more chaotic. This fic takes place in the Earth Kingdom for the most part. Loyalty plays a pretty big part in the narrative. A character’s loyalty to their chosen faction. Their loyalty to each other, and to their ideals. Freedom is another thing that’s important to the narrative. So is revenge.

The history is based on the US’s “Wild West” age, specifically the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. The technology is pretty similar to that time period too. So there’s things like trains, guns, and a lot of horse riding. Not only are there outlaws who cause trouble for the regular people. But even the law isn’t that trustworthy. Companies like Future Industries are getting away with over working and underpaying their employees, while being protected by the law. Not to mention that noble families like the Beifongs control large swaths of territory and rule however they please. Ba Sing Se doesn’t really care what they do as long as their taxes don’t stop coming in, and no one is in open rebellion against the crown.

I can’t really think of anything that won’t be in the story. Also I’m sorry if this is vague, I don’t want to spoil anything.

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

I think I was twelve when I started. At least that’s when my memories of writing first started. It’s honestly kinda hard to explain why I started writing. I’m not sure if it’s an autistic thing, or if this is just how my brain works; but I’ve always had stories in my mind, and writing just helps get those stories out. It’s mostly been fun, but there have definitely been some bumps on the way. Writing for fun isn’t exactly a profitable hobby.

So I’ve always had to put my writing on the back burner, so I can still support myself financially. I actually took a very long break from writing because of that. It wasn’t until I started writing fanfiction that I discovered my love for writing again. Right now I’m just sticking to fanfiction stuff. But I’m hoping to get back into my original writing someday. My goal is to eventually publish one of my original stories.

Of course Seonghwa would take the order at face value with no care for the nuances behind it or what Hongjoong is truly offering for San. When she left, San was incapable of protecting her to any degree because of his injury, and while Hongjoong isn’t keen on it, he does know how desperately San adores and loves that woman — as pathetic of a notion as that is in his eyes.

“Is it not you who is being cruel right now? Let him have this, Hwa, he needs this. He can tell her he was the one to convince me and that he was the one to fly us to her rescue even in his current physical state.”

im really loving getting to read hongjoongs pov of this bc from mcs pov hes written as this impossible, tough, terrifying character, unstoppable force meets immoveable object type beat, the final boss - but from his pov you can see what a scared little coward he is. he is pathetic. but its the cornered animals who are the most dangerous, and while hes not yet fully cornered i dont think, hes definitely desperate enough to bite, so seeing him at his most pathetic only makes him even more terrifying. literally so fucking in love with the way you've written him, on god.

It’s as the soft wrap over his knuckles sinks into the flesh of the punching bag before him that the door slides open and brings a visitor into the training room with Mingi. It does nothing to stop the pace of his swings, nor does it deter him from his course of action — that being to beat the shit out of an inanimate object, that is — but it does serve to make his senses hone in on the body that just stepped into the room.

Alone.

Laying his hand flat against the bag, Mingi steadies the weight of it before it swings back to him wildly and turns to face the newcomer head-on.

“Do you truly wish to be here, Doctor?” he asks before he even gets a good look at the person. He doesn’t need his eyes to know who it is anyway; the aura of the man is foreign and unnatural to him so there’s no one else it could be besides the new doctor.

Yo that newest chapter was freaking nuts..I love it!! But I gotta ask (which it’s ok if you don’t want to answer, just me being overly curious sometimes); anyway…what the hell happened to sun and moon?! Are they gone for good?

Okay so, headcannon time.

So you know how Sun and Moon don't really have any nearby power sources? Like there aren't any recharge stations or anything around? I think it's because they're the only daycare animatronic and thus can't be gone for an hour recharging while toddlers are running around. Also, due to their small frame and constant energetic demeanour, their battery is both low capacity and quickly drained.

So you know that wire right? The one that lets them jump around all over the place? That's bascially a charger, but not in the normal sense. It works more like a quick shock of power that keeps their battery afloat during the day. This wire is only in the daycare since the people in charge didn't really need(or want) Sun or Moon anywhere else.

Without this wire they can last about an hour, but only if they keep movement to a minimum. Again, low storage and more energy to move.

So, if say, they had an internal struggle. One that caused say a scream and their bodies merging. Well I'd say that counts as active.

So that, mixed with running down a hall and, I don't know, jumping in front of someone? Well damn that power is going to go quick. Add stress factors? They're not gonna last long.

And thats how you get a powered down daycare attendent.

I was thinking of adding some sort of explination to this in the story but I kinda felt like it would either ruin the pacing mid-story or spoil it at the beginning. So I just left it vague.

They're fine, just out of power right now.

Gotta say though, the amount of people begging to know if they're okay did get a chuckle out of me.

lemme tell you about the new football anime please

It’s called Blue Lock and it’s my brand of absolute shitshow;

TLDR: the soccer anime is a shitty gay as fuck battle royale and your op here LOVES it.

First thing I want to make clear is that sports anime is a very vague definition because people who create these stories will literally just fucking do anything. Love it. You got your serious sports drama that inspire you to become better, like your KazeTsuyos and your Haikyuus. You got the fujobait/yuribait bullshit that’s just kinda themed around sports so it has a plot to follow along (Free!, Sk8 the infinity, that one about the golf girls dressed in lingerie I think).

and of course, the biggest contendant of the sports genre: the anime bullshit. Prince of Tennis, Kuroko’s basketball and, most recently: Blue Lock. 

Blue Lock is a battle royale manga that uses football as a plot but it is impossible to make any statement on said plot because the manga is kinda silly and is constantly contradicting itself but that’s not the point I want to make. This huge post is not a criticism, but mostly about me sharing my new favorite cringe. 

The art is stellar, I’m an absolute sucker for good dyanamic art in manga and BL (will purposely use this abbreviation that always makes me cackle) has so much power to its art, actually! Nomura Yusuke-sensei, the responsible for art and character designs, is very very good at his job!

Anyways, when I started reading this thing the battle royale and the “anti-sports anime” aspect were the things that got me thinking I should keep going and, let me tell you, this thing does not go where you expect it to go and I will spoil you a little bit on very later plot details on this story, so just skim with your little eyes closed in case you...really don’t want spoilers for  BL anime

I realize this post will not sound coherent at all, I’m mostly spitting out thoughts about a manga that I, admitely, have not thought about that much.

Yes, they have bullshit powers in this thing. They have SPECIAL MOVE NAMES they have JOJO STANDS they have ELDRITCH FOOTBALLIC ABOMINATIONS. 

and it’s EDGY, good lords it gives the 13 year boy who watched too much anime vibes. I dig that cringe so hard.

The best part though? As every other representative of its genre, Blue Lock, the manga that has BL as its IN UNIVERSE ABREVIATION, is so unapologetically gay. 

As gay as a battle shonen gets, which is a lot, may you not lie to yourself. You like your BL with childhood friends and cliche high school scenes, they got you a WHOLE ASS SPIN OFF AROUND YOUR FAVORITE GAYS.

This manga has been my personal source of campy madness for a while now. I purposely look for the chapter discussions on manga forums just to see how people react to these and most of the time you just get guys talking about actual football (boring) but sometimes.... sometimes you get these

the purpose of this post is just to tell you, this manga/anime may look like a serious shonenfied reading on japanese football but that is far away from its best asset. The crazy levels of drama and the homoeroticism are what you should be here for, because those will not require any critical thinking (or eye-straining, let me tell some panels are REALLY hard to get through, geez, the protagonist keeps turning into puzzle pieces)

If you got curious about it and want to have any idea of what awaits for you in Blue Lock, trust your friend over here, this is what you should expect.

I liked it. I binged thru both seasons, which was pretty quick. There are only 6 episodes pre season. It’s an intriguing premise, cause both seasons open with a death, and we don’t know who died so we go thru the whole season being introduced to characters and wondering, oh is this the person who dies? Oh is it them? So it really keeps your interest that way kinda like a puzzle. Like they introduce a conflict and you sorta wonder if it’s enough to justify someone’s death or murder. All of the performances are fantastic. Most of the plot lines in both season are pretty interesting and hold your attention for awhile. I think I actually liked season 1 better than season 2, which it seems like a lot of people think the opposite. Tho I think the ending of season 2 was better, tho s2’s ending was vaguely spoiled by tumblr, but not completely. I kinda figured it out as I watched the show which kinda sucked. I kinda wished I didn’t see anything, but there were def things that were not spoiled that I enjoyed. I don’t want to say too much cause I don’t want to spoil anything either. Overall yes it’s a really well made show that’s intriguing to watch and if you want to scratch the surface has some pretty interesting themes and symbolism, if you decide you want to look that closely. But if not you can just enjoy it for what it is.

Great actors too. Steve zahn is a dad in it and it’s so funny to hear that steve zahn voice being like a voice of reason and authority lol like he has such a distinctive voice that is so 90s and so... dumb lol idk I always liked him and it was good to see him. Also michael imperioli. So great to see him in a new show. He’s so associated with sopranos that it’s kinda hard to see him as anything else but he does a good job. There was some line he read, and now I can’t remember what he said, but it was 1000% Christopher and I chuckled... it wasn’t enough to ruin this character.

I was wondering how/what Leona, Azul, Riddle, and the Leech brothers (all separately) would act/do if they have a crush on a hopeless romantic female reader? (Maybe how they’ll try to “woo” them/get them together?) Emphasis on crush, they’re not together yet 😅

In my opinion hopeless romantics are not so much about the perfect dream lover (chivalrous, gentlemanly, etc), but more about finding “the one” that we’re meant to dedicate all our time to. Sure, we do find ourselves more attracted to guys that’ll fit the description of our “perfect”, but generally we’re able to accept just about anyone, so long as they show their sincerity. It doesn’t have to be anything big, it’s the feelings behind them that counts. Small gestures with undeniable feelings behind them are weighed much more heavily than big gestures with little thoughts behind them. Not my words but I feel like this sentence describes it perfectly “Hopeless Romantics are in love with love”. No, they don’t have to sing me poems and proses, gift me flowers at every meeting, or serenade me under the balcony. Though I’ll admit that I had written pages upon pages of love poems on a single crush We are obsessed with the idea of finding someone made just for us, for us to love and be loved in return.

Just me turning to fictional characters to cope with the harsh reality... we really aren’t made for modern society 😔

Leona Kingscholar

For a while now, Leona really did think he found hopeless romantics stupid. He just doesn’t get why someone would put so much importance in something as vague and fleeting as romantic love.

Then he ends up falling for you.

Needless to say, his crush is something that constantly taunts him. He really feels so confused around you, as if he shouldn’t like you as much as he does. He never thought someone like you would catch his attention, you just seem so... soft, sometimes. Leona is usually straightforward about his interest in people, but when it comes to you, he doesn’t really know how to go about it.

He knows you’re not somebody who would be swayed through his meaningless teasing, that you’re the sort of person who wanted devotion. And it isn’t like he doesn’t want that with you -- Though, he’d rather die than admit this right now -- but he doesn’t know how to express it.

He still wants to show his interest, but for you, he does it differently. He flirts more subtly, teasing you less, and when you’re alone, he almost acts sweet, way easier to fluster. When you’re sweet to him back, he feels so stupidly warm and fuzzy and he loves it hates it.

Falling for a hopeless romantic definitely is the way to break Leona. It might be the only way to catch him off guard romantically, even.

Azul Ashengrotto

Similar to Leona, Azul kind of looks down on the concept of love, but for a slightly different reason. For him, it’s that he doesn’t like being vulnerable, so letting himself have this level of closeness with someone feels just... too troublesome. The chance he’d be hurt is just too much.

So he didn’t do anything about his crush on you, at first, he was trying to just wait it out like he usually does. Then, he hears your opinions and expectations with love, and things change a bit inside his head.

He’ll always be uneasy trying to make moves on people regarding that, but knowing you were so... sincere, it made him feel like trying might be worth it, this time. Ironically, what a dubious guy like him wants is someone genuine, who he didn’t feel the need to play all these games with.

He gets a little bolder with you. Inviting you to Mostro Lounge often, letting you try new recipes that still weren’t in the menu, sometimes taking you out, even buying you small gifts of things you seemed to like. He wants to show you that you’re special to him, while still keeping some subtlelty.

Riddle Rosehearts

Riddle never talks about it, but everytime he thinks about love, it’s in a similar way to you. He wants to find someone who would be his one and only, a girl who would love him just as much as he loved her. He’s endlessly embarrassed by this, sort of convinced that his expectations are just too unrealistic, but he can’t help but dream.

When you two launch into a rare conversation about relationships and he finds out you agree with him... man, if he already had a thing for you before, now he was just smitten.

Sadly Riddle is very awkward when it comes to romance. He feels like you two would make such a good couple together, he’d be the best boyfriend he possibly could be! But he gets shy when it comes to expressing his feelings, and in the end, all he can do is hope you catch on to what it means when he’s trying to spend time with you often...

Floyd is very casual about love, you see. The second he knows he’s fallen for you is the second he decides you’re his, and he’s yours, and that’s it. Nonetheless, he does push you to do pretty well, not excessively so, but definitely is a fan of a no-slacking-off mentality. But yeah, unlike Diluc's daughter you actually have some friends and, you know, go outside. Unfortunately this does lead to some... overprotectiveness, which we'll get to. 

He's also one that will spoil a daughter like hell, you never really want for anything... and you have a bunch of stuff you never asked for either, he's always picking something up that "made him think of you" or that you offhandedly mentioned. Spontaneous gifts. Even in a... wholesome way, he's very touchy too. Lots of hugs, head pats, arm around your shoulders at every event you go to.

Because you're going out and living a relatively free life, he kind of... hovers. He's always there, maybe not in the forefront, but always there, selectively choosing when to be in the background or right there in your attention. You get to be the household that friends love coming to because you always spend so much money on little get-togethers... and he's always within your line of sight, maybe outside doing something, maybe across the house, but always listening and watching.

He wants you to introduce him to any boys you have interest in so that they can be approved or denied for dating. Problem is that every single one you find has something wrong with them in his eyes. He's the type to make you start coming to him at his work at the end of the day of school/work rather than going home so that he can keep a better eye on you, which is difficult to do since he would rather you not find out the details of what he does, but if it's keeping you safe, it's worth it.

Like normal Childe, he tends to kinda be... apathetic regarding the "rightness" of his own actions. Honestly, he's a "because I said so" type of Dad and shamelessly so, he thinks your obedience is mandatory and that he's owed it because of his natural authority. He IS the laid back, super nice Dad until you cross a boundary, at which point he can quickly become a very harsh one. It's a mix of being laid-back and chill in personality, but actually very strict on most things.

So basically, your friends don't know why you're so obedient since they think your dad would be a pushover.... What they don't see is what he's like when he's unhappy. He can drop that sweet smile very quickly. You're Pavlov'ed to his voice really - when it drops and gets low and commanding, you know you're in for it. You know how he is - sweet until a rule is broken. So just be a good girl, and you'll be fine. When he's mad, he talks down to you - like you're a baby, like you're stupid, it's humiliating, but it encourages you to do the right thing.

He doesn't have a delusional period, though, he knows what's up right away when he starts feeling weird. He just doesn't really feel all that bad about it because he justifies it as just nature and not something wrong.
